No, darling, I just girl bossed too close to the sun, and I became so important at my day job that since November last year, I couldn’t have any hobbies because I didn't have any free time 😂

The good news is that my big project is done and results were amazing. Now I just came back from a month long holiday, so I am finally working on FTC. It will come (hopefully soon)!

crassus is the man who lined the via appia with crucified slaves. why did you have to make me like him

alright, so I don't actually make anyone feel one way or another about crassus.

the thing about crassus is that he's unusual even for the unusual era that he lived in, and that makes him compelling. the other thing about crassus is that even though he commits horrific acts of violence, he's not actually behaving worse than any of his other contemporaries. there's a lot of violence happening, and it's all kind of awful. caesar commits a genocide, and he's still the special guy to a lot of historians who probably would say that committing genocide is bad, actually, and you shouldn't do it.

he's not even behaving particularly badly by roman standards, since his crucifixion of the slaves along the via appia falls in line with roman ideals of what type of violence is acceptable, which is it's own kind of upsetting in a broader context of state and imperialist violence.

it's fine to have complicated or contradictory feelings about him, you don't even have to like him to sympathize with aspects of him or his life if you don't want to. you can actively dislike everything he's ever done and find him compelling because he's like, a guy, he did stuff during an interesting period of time, and a lot of it is objectively interesting and weird.

there's something in how rome did not spiral into successive civil wars and with massive body counts while he and pompey held joint power. there is something else in how he was the guy who brought back decimation and came out of it with a morale boost. he loved his sons. he crucified an appalling amount of people who suffered under roman slavery. pompey took credit for it, and somehow that strikes me as it's own repulsive violence.

I like crassus as much as I dislike him! I contain contradictory multitudes. it's fine. so did he. I contain no contradictory multitudes about caesar tho, which is a kind of contradiction as well. get out of the way brutus, I'll stab him myself.

I added this to my pinned post but I want to make it super clear because like I'm getting asks about it now (yikes on so many and several different bikes): The URL is not a reflection on how seriously I take this character but I also enjoy laughing and having a good time so if that bothers you, good news! Watched gen v and was sorta impressed by the depth of storylines (the wacky stuff i just ignore mostly as gimmicks) and the kids acting in it and the themes tackled - even though its a clearer pattern now n fast becoming a kripke-patented repeated story elements ( psyhic powers, older brother v sweet younger brother who is more powerful but tortured horrifically by family or initiated by fam through others and is not right in the head as a result, said younger brother's name being sam, huge brotherly bond n connection, medical trauma, manipulative adults abusing kids trust n kids exploding into violence n the rape-y non-con stuff going on everywhere) ...with super powers world setting n trimmings...the kuds stories still had a heart which is what appealed n the acting...

The jensen ackles cameo though, was atrocious....like, realllllllly bad .... and it didnt even feel like it was in an "ironic" way or a "this is what the story/scene wanted/needed" or anything, it was just ridiculously cringe....n thats almost mostly from acting choices made i reckon....it felt like watching a 3rd rate ham-fisted attempt at acting n a parody of the character ( sb itself had been already supposed to be an ott take on ye olde supe stereotype on "the boys" so this character didnt need anymore amping up)....yikes!...

unless someone on gen v deliberately set ja up to troll him? ... i dont know what happened there but man, i would not want to be hyping that cameo up....n its sad to see - but not too much...sorry is that mean?...

I'm officially moving over to my other multi (DENYDEFEAT). Two multis is too much (1 is tbh but we're gonna make it ~work~). Harry will remain on a solo blog for now but the muses from here that I REALLY want to write, I'll be moving over. IF I didn't move someone over, and you follow me other there and wanted to continue writing with them, just yell at me and I will add them. I will be carrying over all of the drafts I have (99% of them are for Rae though) because I have a lot of starters I owe replies to and I WANT to write them but flipping between blogs is too much right now. <3 If I ever get everything caught up again, I might make the move back over here, but I don't see that happening for a WHILE. I'll reblog this a few times over about a week in case anyone misses it.
