The wheelchair spots on public transportations are for wheelchairs, the end. They are not storage spots. Not for strollers, bicycles, luggage, pets, fuck all.

Every time I used public transportation with rollator, I folded her and stored her where I could fit her without damaging her, and not in the wheelchair spaces.

If there's a wheelchair user who needs to use that space, unless you're a wheelchair user who's there first, then fucking move, and move your shit out of there.

I'm so damned tired.

it's really weird to me the way people have been talking about maria lately.... like i know maria wasnt the most developed character in her earlier appearances and she also didnt get to have a normal childhood experience but seeing people say she has no personality and has no joy or whimsy or never got to be a kid at all makes me wonder if im the only person whos actually been paying attention to maria this whole time...???? like do people think she was a sad miserable kid who never got to have fun because of her disability or something ? because that is quite literally the opposite of who she was

and people are being weirdly ableist about it too like talking like her illness is the reason for all those traits she supposedly lacks. implying disabled people cant be happy or have fun or whatever. like come on man

There's a lot of talk about the "magical cure" trope in relation to disability and ableism, but imo when media goes too hard the other way.... i don't feel too good about it either. There's almost a feeling that we *shouldn't* have escapist, hopeful fantasies. Oh this fictional character got a magical cure? Nope, that's bad! Back to being a cripple. It's almost painted like a moral punishment. Idk. Halfbaked thoughts, but that gut feeling has been there.

"Not all disabilities are visible" refers to something like a person who appears able to walk using a disabled parking permit, not a wheelchair user having to wait for the next bus to make room for a stroller.

Man, definitely understand being passionate about telling folx to not DIY T, but it's really telling something about your character if you call them an idiot for doing it. Our transcestors did what they had to do to survive - the lack of means plus desperation will result in taking very high (and sometimes lethal) risks every time. Have some compassion mate.

Botched surgeries from dodgy surgeons, complications from DIY HRT... these are the results of systemic issues coupled with desperation. Not of someone being an idiot. Those that become disabled or die from taking actions out of desperation deserve compassion from the rest of us, do better.

Knock off the ableism and direct that anger towards our oppressors.

P.S. if you DO end up reading it, I gotta warn you that the ending sucks. It's no good at all. Imho it renders a whole character completely pointless and massacres like 2 separate themes of the book at once. Literally just because of 5 or so sentences. Personally I like to just ignore those specific sentences and pretend that that particular plot twist did not happen. Because here's the fun part: in the terms of the literal plot, the plot twist is totally pointless. It works perfectly fine without it. If you erase those 5 sentences literally nothing changes. The only thing that changes is the thematic level of the work and it changes for the worse. A parallel just fucking gone. A character is there for no fucking reason now. A whole character arc might as well have not happened. Like two whole themes go up in flames. Several scenes begin to make no sense at all.

Oh also every time someone I know reads it, they make me aware that I forgot to warn them about a fatphobic scene at the start of the book. I keep erasing it from my memory and that's why I keep forgetting to warn people. But I'm warning you about it now. It's there and it sucks.

Other than that I really recommend the book. King wrote it in two or so weeks while having stomach flu and it shows (positive).
