Ableton - How to normalize an Audio Clip . Have you ever wanted to normalize your loop or clip? Well it doesn’t seem that Ableton has his function to normalize but it does. . Normalizing is when you bring the gain to the level so that the highest peak in your audio clip is at 0 dB . Here is the trick, when you consolidate an audio file it actually normalizes it. The thing is that Ableton does is it reduces the gain so that you would hear it the same as it was before you normalized it. So, you must go to the gain slider, and double click it, and Ableton will put it up to zero DB. Once you do that, you'll realize that it did normalize the audio and the gain is set so the highest peak to 0 DB. . Consolidate Audio: Win: CTR-J MAC: CMD-J or Apple-J . When you push CTR-J on a selected audio file Ableton consolidates and normalizes that audio file. . Ableton - Put the project folder inside another folder . By having your Ableton project folder inside another folder you can put all of your renders and files that are not in the project in that folder, then when you manage unused files it won't delete them. . If you delete unused files through Ableton project manager, it will delete everything that is not in the project folder that is contained in any of that projects live sets. . This is a problem when you have files like renders and masters and other files that are not contained in one of its live sets. If you manage files through Ableton, It would delete these if they are not in the project folder which would be bad. . By having your Ableton project folder inside another folder you can put all of your renders and files that are not in the project in that folder, then when you manage files it won't delete them. . You can find out by scrolling over the top bar of a plug in. . In this video, I explain how "Delay Compensation" synchronizes all your tracks and One situation why you may want to turn it off, but it is usually best to have it on. . ⚡️With "Delay Compensation" on, you can scroll over the top bar of a plugin to see how much latency it causes. It is fun to compare third party plugin latencies to Ableton stock latencies. Especially if you are trying to streamline your project. . ⚡️The Delay Compensation on and off button is under the "Options" tab in the top left of Ableton. . ⚡️Ableton uses the "Delay Compensation" button to perfectly synchronize all of you track latencies from various plugins. With "Delay Compensation" on, Ableton adjusts all the tracks playback starting with the track with the longest latency. This way they all sound in sync, but the initial playback of your song will be delayed to the start of the longest latency. . ⚡️There is One situation that turning off "Delay Compensation" may be useful. This may be helpful If you have a huge project and your trying to monitor a track while your recording without direct monitoring from your interface. For example, you may not want the latency of "Delay Compensation" on, if your vocalist needs to hear their vocals wet, with a few track effects on, when recording. . ⚡️For most purposes it is best to have "Delay Compensation" on. . Ableton - Use Multiple MIDI tracks for One Instrument   I'm going to show you how to route multiple tracks to one mini instrument. This is great for layering. You can have one track be a bass track, one track be a melody track, one a harmony track or chord track and so on. This can help you organize your MIDI clips. . ⚡️Have one track with your MIDI instrument and a few more tracks that will send MIDI to your instrument. Example, bass, melody, harmony, chord tracks. . ⚡️If in session view, go to the bottom of the tracks that will send MIDI to your MIDI instrument. Where it says "MIDI To" select your track with your MIDI instrument. If you're in the arrangement view, this routing section is on the right-hand side of your track . ⚡️On the track where your MIDI instrument is, select "In" on the "Monitor" section. This will make it so you don't have to select the record button for it to play the incoming MIDI signals. . ⚡️You can now group all these tracks together to make it nice and neat by selecting them and pushing "CTRL G" on Windows or "CMD G" on a Mac. . Ableton Refreeze after Editing VST / Serum problem - Let me know if you have this problem too. .⠀ I had a frozen track with Serum in it.
