ok but rarepair WHO and HOW and tell me nooow
Ok this is the double bonus WIP doc even though only one of the WIPs is about a rarepair. The rarepair is Jonas/Mathieu, which is somewhat un-exciting I think because they are literally NEVER PICTURED TOGETHER and have NO CHEMISTRY. So it's not like a fun rarepair it's a de facto rare pair if you know what I mean. Anyway! The concept is this:
Jonas is on vacation in Benidorm sometime after his season ends. He starts talking to a ripped-looking blonde guy on grindr named Mathieu (yes, he would use his real first name, he obviously has no face pics so it's fine). It's going well, they make plans to meet in Jonas' hotel room.
Right before Mathieu arrives, Jonas checks the group chat and sees a message from Wout about being in Benidorm for a cyclocross race and he's like "oh fuck oh god that's Mathieu van der Poel" and tries to leave but it's too late, he runs into Mathieu in the lobby. Mathieu figures out what's going on, too. They decide it's a good idea to sign NDAs even though they didn't actually hook up, they both saw each other on grindr and their respective teams would think it was for the best. Here's all that:
Anyway at this point Mathieu is like "well actually what if we did hook up" and I think they do, most of what I want to get out of this fic is
getting Jonas and Mathieu to plausibly hook up, and
Jonas realizing that he's going to have to like, interact with Wout knowing that he fucked Mathieu van der Poel. Wout is straight in this one so he doesn't care in that way but Jonas is like "he's going to be so mad at me" even though I don't actually think Wout would be mad.
and a secret third thing, maybe it ends up being a regular thing and I get to write awkward scenes where Mathieu appears on the bus, at training camp, etc. I just think that would be fun. Even if Wout's not mad about it I still think it would be pretty funny.
So yeah idk I'm kind of stuck on the sex scene with this one because, well, it's a random hook up and it's going to be awkward and I'm also not entirely sure what they're both like in bed yet, but I add onto this a little bit every month so maybe some day it'll make it out of the drafts!

I FINALLY GOT CHAPTER 2 UP
Here's chapter 1 if anyone missed that one
gawd it took me so long I'm so sorry! In my defense it's double the length of chapter 1. Here's a little preview
It started with a boom that rivaled thunder.
Lilith jumped awake in the dead of night, heart pounding. Around her, animals were chittering, panicked. There was an energy, a tension in the air. She couldn’t quite understand what it was or what was happening. She still could find no source of the noise that had awoken her.
Another boom rattled the air, followed by actual thunder. Both were accompanied by blinding light from the sky above. The ground beneath her shook, and the plants rattled their leaves.
Lilith stood and began to run. She could barely see what was going on through the canopy of the trees, but she was determined to figure out what was going on. Normally at night, she wouldn’t have been able to see anything. But with every crash, every shake, every boom, the sky lit up with different colors and illuminated her path.
When she finally reached a clearing, her suspicions were confirmed but her questions remained unanswered.
The sky above her was in turmoil. The clouds churned and danced around each other, trying to crush each other and melting into each other. They tugged and pulled, ripped and teared away at each other. Lights would flash from behind them with their deafening booms. It looked like the end of days.
The only experience Lilith had that was even remotely akin to this was light rain, but mostly only because it’d be cloudy with distant thunder. This-... This was something else completely.
Lilith watched transfixed. Hoping maybe at some point it would let up or fade. But it wouldn’t. At most there would be a longer stretch of seconds between the next flash of light than other times, but it never waned.
Soon, the battle of the sky stretched into the daytime, distorting the colors of the sunrise around it to a violent red before eventually giving way to day. The clouds remained dark, and heavy, sometimes even black at times.
Lilith had hoped that during the day it would make more sense, or be less frightening. Instead, what she saw was only worse.
“Lilith!” a voice called to her, and she turned. Eve was beckoning her, “Come on! I know you don’t like Adam much, but don’t be alone in this!”
Lilith glanced at the sky one last time before running over to Eve.
Eve was right. As annoying as Adam was, being alone with that chaos reigning above her would be worse. It seemed however, whatever it was that was happening, was also rattling Adam. For once, he took on a more protective role over the two women, trying to comfort them.
They spent the day together eating the fruits of Eden, and sitting together looking at the sky.
When the sun started to set, the sky was still rumbling and booming. The lights distorted the clouds into monstrous shapes before immediately destroying them and then creating more shapes.
“What in Eden’s name is going on??” Adam hissed under his breath. “Is this going to last all night too?”
It did.
None of them got much sleep.
It lasted all throughout the next day as well. And the next night, and the day after that.
It never rained, and the wind only minorly picked up, as if down below on Eden was completely separate to what was happening above. Lilith eventually grew weary of Adam once again and broke off to be by herself. Clearly, whatever was happening wasn’t about to hurt her.
Finally, after seven days and seven nights, when the dawn was breaking through the thickness of night, there was a sickening sound that started off as a crackle but devolved into a rattle as a single light flared in the sky and then jortled across it.
The sky went quiet as that single light began to fall, a smaller piece of it broke off and went on its own trail.
Lilith could only watch in morbid fascination as the streak of light fell, and when it hit the earth, the ground itself shook, rippling out in waves as if it had turned liquid.
Lilith grabbed onto a tree for stability as all the animals screeched around her.
Then it settled.
The ground no longer shook.
The sky was silent and still.
Looking up at it however, in the exact trace of the light, the edges of the clouds had been ripped apart, and the sunrise was making it glow an angry red. The air was uncomfortably chilly. It felt as if something had been irrevocably changed.

Woke up with blorbo thoughts so I’m using what little courage I possess— Thinkin’ bout the sick fic n how jokingly there was a part where it would’ve been easier for management to just tell Dusk he and Robin live together, but of course they don’t tell them…
But what if they did? What if they decided it was less effort to just tell them and reveal it than to keep the secret? Surely if THEY spill the beans it can’t go bad :) right? …Right? :)
I can also see them doing it mostly for their benefit, like how Sun in canon brings up how they can do “joint missions” without it affecting their civilian lives after the reveal. I can see HQ coming to that realization too, but for not as wholesome reasons “if we just tell them then we can assign them X mission :)”
The drabble in question because it's been a while!
So in this case, with the higher ups a little more lenient (ending up as basically the opposite of the promotion drabble higher ups lmao), Robin gets the unique offer to establish a line of contact with Dusk.
Of course, they don't just jump at the offer - it's way too suspicious! So they ask - why them both? Surely there are other agents that ask about each other, and it'll definitely risk their identities -
Oh, yes, that's the suggestion. Share your identities.
Freeze frame, record scratch.
What? That has to be against agency policy, why would they suggest that?
Well, apart from the fact that they would like to pair them up during longer missions ("We could just stick to code names, how is that related -" "Shh. Wait."), really, the explanation will be a point of no return. If they insist on getting one, they need to be prepared to actually commit.
Robin here gets a choice they didn't get in any other reveal scenario - so they ask to bring Dusk in, too. This is not a decision they should make by themself.
Dusk is promptly summoned, definitely wary to find Robin and his supervisor in one room, with Robin just shrugging and looking vaguely stiff and out of place. Hard to explain with just a gesture, but he does interpret it correctly - he's not in trouble with them. There's no complaint, or something, and whatever it is, they're in it together. That's the most important thing.
"We're suggesting you reveal your identities to each other."
Succinct, to the point, and after just a moment of processing, Dusk startles Robin with how easily he says yes. They whip around, just a tad baffled - just like that?
And he shrugs, and explains - well, he wouldn't mind, would be nice to be able to check in on them and hear they're not in fact dead or dying, and if it's a mutual thing, neither of them could exploit it, anyway. Really, having a one sided reveal would only spell trouble, but like this? (:
So Robin also agrees, if a little more subdued (flustered), and the supervisor is gonna have the best day of their life.
Alright, they say. They already live next to each other, so they can just go home and discuss everything there. Leans back in their chair, smiling, and enjoys the fallout.
"What - We what? No no no, my neighbor is -"
"Sun?," it rings from two sides, and their click their mouth shut immediately.
Dusk just turns to them, honestly this close to losing it, and just manages a "You're our landlord?"
The supervisor does kick them out then - at home, they say, and remember not to tell anyone who doesn't live with them. They have things to do, and yeah, Robin and Dusk have a lot to talk about.
Some frustration, especially from Robin's side at first, but as they walk home they just start laughing more and more - about how close they got to his real name with their teases, how much he annoyed Sun with his worry when they were just having the flu, how Moon never managed to meet the landlord and then just felt so awkward, dreading it even! They have tons of stories that are now even funnier, and the fact that the higher ups offered this after the entire scenario of Dusk annoying them about Robin's status just sends them almost into hysterics at some point.
They reach home, standing on their porch, and just look at each other.
"Wait. Does this mean Sun is an agent too?"
"I thought it was funny that you never heard about Dawn. Guess this is what I get in return."
Robin just hides their face behind their hands and laughs, the entire scenario still so ridiculous. Looks up again then, pulls down their mask, and just has the goofiest grin on their face.
Dusk - Moon decides he loves them, then. Only more so with their next suggestion.
"Lean down for a second? I have an idea how we can tell Sun."
They take out their phone, switching to the camera's selfie mode, and quickly snap a picture.
"What, gonna caption that with 'me and my annoying coworker'?"
"I was going to call you my newest work bestie, but I suppose that works too."
It's a hint of reassurance there, too - the "annoying" wasn't malicious, and they do actually enjoy his company. They do stick with his suggestion though, as they decide the whiplash is even funnier with the familiar description.
They spend the rest of the night talking things out, laughing and groaning and throwing non lethal things at each other for dumb jokes they make. Exchange numbers, too - and Sun isn't the only one who gets the picture. Moon does get the work bestie caption, however.
They part ways before the switch, both only waiting for the bomb to drop on Sun, too. He's immediately suspicious when he wakes, feeling Moon's anticipation. Hearing the words "You should check your messages" first thing in the morning also isn't the most reassuring thing.
He yells a little at Moon, maybe, when he sees the picture. Moon is just losing it, and suggests he goes talk it out with Robin, because oops, rest mode time!
Sun does, after hurrying getting dressed, and then he's at Y/N's door, who opens with the smuggest grin.
"See you got my message."
Sun, who at this point decides fuck it, three can play at that game, just squints as he grins - a look they'll see a lot from Dawn in the future.
"I see you and Moon had some fun there. Care to fill me in?"
"Oh yes, sure. We got special permission from the higher ups, after all."
And they let him in, familiar and yet so new, and then they talk, too. About Dawn, about Robin, about a tired brain not processing another name falling during their first meeting, and how things were supposed to be harmless, and yet led to this entire mess that even HQ didn't want to deal with anymore.
About how cagey they both were with their jobs, about how Sun got back into crafting ("Oh, sorry, I guess. Didn't mean to force you into anything." "Oh, no, I missed it, really. And I do quite enjoy your decor (:"), and how HQ now wants to send them on longer shared missions.
It's a smooth transition, too, and they slip into new dynamics easily without any doubt or anxiety about the future or their jobs.
It's one of the calmest reveals, in the end. Neither of them slipped, neither of them found out on their own, and with the higher ups involved they just opt for the humor of it all instead of dwelling on any frustrations. They can easily see it as doing their job well enough that even HQ got tired of the secrecy, instead of just "we were so stupid for never noticing"
And, well, that shared cruise mission may just happen a little earlier, after all (:
