I forgot today was Asexual Visibility Day, but I managed to make some progress on this. I'll upload the full tomorrow.
Got a lot to say about Sastiel, especially Castiel and asexuality, but I'd rather save it for a post tomorrow. WIP for now 🧍

will you teach me how to use tumblr good sir you seem mostly qualified :3
Uhhh... ok here's a list:
1. if you want other people to see something, reblog it. there is no algorithm. likes are nice, but do literally nothing. I mostly just use them so i know "oh i've seen this before i don't want to reblog it again". If you would like somthing on Twitter you would reblog it on Tumblr. I'm personally pretty liberal with mine, you don't have to be
2. don't like someone? block em. Is someone trying to start an argument or bring you into "the discourse"? block em. this is a bit of an exageration, of course generally i take a quick look at their profile, bio, post history, etc. If i don't see anything worth my time they get blocked
3. mutuals are your friends, amazing people, all of them. I want to hug them all.
4. If you are putting negativity towards a character/ship/fandom, don't put it in that character/ship/fandom's tag. That's not why people are on the tag. it is perfectly fine to dislike something. be vocal about it even! but people don't go to the tag of their favorite ship to see people saying how much better their ship is.
5. You are not obligagated to put anything in your bio. pronouns? optional, sexuality? optional, nothing has to be there. I take the route that everyone is aro/ace and non-binary until proven otherwise. Do check their bio before you use any pronouns though, its just good manners.
6. the search feature is god awful, it doesn't even do a keyword search. Avoid it at all costs. I tag stuff with what media it relates to/what it's about if i think I'll want to find it later.
7. Tags are for your semi-private thoughts. if you want to put your thoughts in the world for people to see but not necassarily be dragged along when someone reblogs it from you or make a joke you might not want everyone to see.
8. It's a bit more text focused stuff here than Twitter and Reddit twitter has the character limit and Reddit is... Reddit. Don't be afraid to post a 8 paragraph essay or whatever. At least your mutuals will see it.
9. You might want to have a personal tag for when something is queued or for when you add something to a post. I inverted this rule with my catch-all tag of "#zt adds something" for me it just marks when something is NOT queued as a concidence whenever I don't add to the post (reaction image, character analysis, HCs, etc) that goes in the queue.
10. The queue! the magical place where I shove all my random reblogs so they get spread out over the day. It exists, idk what else to say. Use it, or don't I'm not the boss of you.
11.
Tumblr media
big news! this is how news spreads. Dean at the top says "I love you" Castiel at the bottom says the news. It's from supernatural, I didn't make the rule I'm just telling you about it. It was a whole thing learn more here.
12. confession time! i have not been here very long (only 4 months or so) and most of this info is not time tested, it's just how I personally use the site.
please ask me more follow up questions if you need! (or issue corrections)

You rebloged the megstiel meta which also mentioned Dean taking Cas to a brothel and it's one of the scene I avoid because it's triggering.
Dean asked Cas what he wanted to do and then proceed to not care about Castiel’s wishes, he forced his decision on Cas, he put the angel in an extremely uncomfortable situation and did not back off even when Cas protested. That whole sequence is actually a good representation of their whole relationship.
CastielmcLeod has written a good meta about it, which probably the only post I have read about that scene but couldn't bring my self to reblog.
As someone who HCs Cas as Ace that and April encounter haunt me.
But most of the Fandom either doesn’t realise or don't care, I have seen destiel shippers be angry about April saying that's was just to impose heterosexuality on Cas
but they also write fics with destiel following the brothel scene where "Dean keeps his promise of not letting Cas die as a Virgin and takes matters in his own hands".
I feel a lot Fandom refuses to see Cas as a individual, they prefer a prop for Dean who protects him, bows his whims, provides comfort etc.
I left this ask for so long because I felt like I should add to this
I realize now that this ask is awesome as is and it's okay if I can't add to this
Thank you for sending me asks btw! They are one of the highlights of my day and I'm sorry if my long response has made you feel awkward in anyway

What do you think of the idea of Meg and Castiel in a sexless ace relationship? Where they never "order pizza" but are content with over the clothes kissing and cuddles and are perfectly happy and in love? Is that a valid ace interpretation?
Tumblr media
@autisticdadcastiel Since both of these asks are really similar, I'm gonna answer both of them at once, if that's okay.
Anon, I would say that's a completely valid portrayal of an ace relationship, and I would love to see Meg and Cas portrayed together that way, especially since ace megstiel takes seem to be so rare. I think that type of relationship would make both of them very happy in ways neither of them would fully expect. I'm not saying that people in allo or allo-presenting relationship "owe" each other sex when I say this next part, but I genuinely think that in the context of them being in a sex-repulsed relationship, it would do good for Meg and Cas to be in a relationship where they can just exist with each other without feeling like they need to "give" the other something for their relationship to be valid or to prove themselves/their love.
Meg and Cas are both characters who've spent a very long time living on other people's terms and they've had to live their lives not based on what they want or based on being able to be themselves, to be actual people, but based on what they can give/how they can appease others; so I think them having an ace relationship together that defies the typical boundaries set by society and puts the emphasis not on what they can do for each other but on who they are when they're with each other is a very beautiful thing for Meg and Castiel to have together. So yes: megstiel where one of them is sex-repulsed (or both of them! I'd love to see sex-repulsed Meg who puts on a show because she feels like she has to before ultimately learning that she's free to be herself!) is, always has been, and always will be a beautiful and completely valid take on their relationship.
As for Meg's reaction to Cas coming out as gray-romantic asexual (my aroace hc for Cas), I think she'd take it very well; obviously she'd be very supportive as she loves and respects her unicorn very much.
The thing is, I don't think it would be much of a surprise for Meg. There's not a doubt in my mind that she was fully aware Cas was in love with her in season 7, and in that season I sincerely doubt there was anything sexual going on between them, nor did Cas ever make Meg feel like he wanted anything sexual to happen between them. From how much time Meg spent with Cas in s7, Meg learned both, that Cas loves things and people very intensely, and that Cas' love language isn't sexual in nature. Meg would have learned in this time that Cas' love language is really just being with and there for the people that he loves, experiencing the world together with them, etc etc.
So it wouldn't be much of a surprise to Meg, and I don't think she would mentally default to that fear of "he doesn't want to have sex with me, so does that mean he thinks I'm not good enough" because she already knows Cas and how he loves people, and that sex isn't how he loves or even how he thinks. She would completely respect and support his sex repulsion and his identity.
However, I do think Meg would need a little time to adjust in other ways. I think in part this would stem from Meg being a bit less in tune with herself and her emotions; in s7, she was aware that Cas was in love with her, but it took her longer to realize and accept that she was in love with him. So in her head, she'd probably still associate the kindness and tenderness she showed to Cas in s7 with her cover story that she was "using him for protection" rather than what it really was: her wanting to love and protect him.
So while Meg would know from the way they interacted in s7 that Cas is capable of loving without sex, I think Meg would have a harder time understanding from the way they interacted in s7 that she herself is capable of loving/showing love without sex. I think for a little while she might struggle to understand her place in the relationship, and she might struggle with this idea of "if I can't offer him sex, then what do I have to offer him? how else am I meant to let him know I care?" However, Cas would help her see that this is a completely irrational concern, that she's worth more than just what she has to offer him, that their love is worth more than just sex and she definitely has a vital and valid place in the relationship, etc etc.

okay i'm sorry in advance for this vent, but i have a shitton of thoughts about the absolute mountain of vitriol being thrown at jensen, and i want to say thank you so much for putting your neck out there and being so calm and sane about it. i think it's ridiculous that the conversation is basically only on jensen and not on j*red's extremely shitty and offensive and hurtful rant. jensen did the best he could with the stressful, uncomfortable situation he was given. do i think his answer was perfect? no, i don't, but i think it was definitely on a great track, and i have a HUGE issue with what people are saying about this. why does it have to be about sex? i don't personally really hc cas as ace, but i know a lot of people do, and i actually see him as demi, most of the time. attacking jensen and saying the reason why he chose to avoid the topic by saying it was "undefinable" and "didn't include lust" (which. jesus, that was a GENERAL thought, it was the fact that romantic doesn't necessarily mean lustful, and that was a great point to make) was because he "thinks gay men having sex is gross" genuinely fills me with so much discomfort. i'm a bi guy, so i perfectly understand the issue of society portraying gay sex as gross. yes. thank you, i live it every day. but why would a love that is all-encompassing, that goes beyond what we could possibly understand, and doesn't necessarily include lust, be deemed "less-than"? why are people angry about it? jensen's answer wasn't complete, both because he doesn't necessarily understand cas' character as much as misha does, and because of j*red's interruption, but i agreed with him on a lot of points. i find it hurtful that cas' queer love (because it was about love, the conversation was about Love, not whatever other feelings cas may have for dean, which includes lust. again, romance =/= lust.) is downplayed by the fandom. loving beyond comprehension, as an angel, is a positively beautiful thought. loving a man, as a non-binary cosmic entity, so much that it can't be described by human terms, is a beautiful thought. LOVING FOR THE SAKE OF LOVING is a beautiful thought, and sex has no place here. yes i do think "carnal desires" are also present in the relationship. but i don't think it should be entered in the "love equation". queer love, in-and-of-itself, is beautiful. the confession scene wasn't about cas telling dean he wants to fuck him then and there. it was about love. and i find it hurtful to see that erased the second the conversation is solely about the concept of cas' love. then it becomes "suspicious", surely the reason behind talking candidly about a love confession *has* to be because he finds gay sex disgusting, right? it *has* to revolve around sex one way or another, and can't be about the sheer beauty of what the most powerful love in the universe can be like, and how hard a concept that would've been for dean to understand. naaahhhh. i'm demi, so it definitely hurts to see that in some way shape or form, a huge piece of my identity is seen as "not good enough", or even just "not enough" to be real. i'm tired of that. they say that removing lust from the equation infantilizes gay love? well i say, why are yOU infantilizing and downplaying queer acespec identities? there are adults out there, me included, who have been told we're childish, or ridiculous, for not feeling/not feeling a lot of lust. but it's not ridiculous. it's not childish. adult romantic love IS enough, and it IS valid. and in the case of cas, that love, whether or not it's paired with lust, IS special, and it IS incredible, and it IS enough, and it made me so happy to see jensen separate lust and love, and call cas' love beautiful. fuck off with your "okay but castiel has gay sex and jensen must find that disgusting if he doesn't agree". fuck. off. i'm genuinely sad and pissed off. why aren't we talking more about the first part of his answer? before j*red started a shitshow? why aren't we talking about the fact that jensen said dean didn't know *until the end*, implying he DID end up acting it as
though dean understood this was a declaration of love? because that, to me, was crucial. i'm just so tired of being told, directly or indirectly, that loving romantically or platonically isn't loving fully. that's it's not complete. that i, in turn, am not complete. they hc other characters as ace, but get upset when someone doesn't mention sex when talking about another character, proving the fact that they don't actually think a main character can love be fulfilled AND be ace, or demi, or aro. those are identities they slap onto the characters whose sex life they don't want to deal with, either because they don't like them, or find them childish. so yeah. jensen gave an unsurprisingly hazy answer, because this is in public, and he has to protect his career, and jared was there, and the cw, and whatever other bs restrictions were present in the room in spirit and physically, but i was content with it. of course dean and cas having gay sex doesn't make them disgusting, of fucking course not. if you find that idea freeing, then i am so glad you have an outlet to think about their relationship as centered around their sex life. i wholeheartedly disagree, i think there are a thousand other facets to their relationship, but if it makes you happy, then please go ahead. just don't fucking spit at me vicariously through a post about jensen because some people don't think about them the same way. (i'm using "you" but it's not directed at *you* you btw lmao) anyways. rant over i think. i'm sorry for how long it is kjfhjs
I’m sorry that this discourse has been especially difficult for you. 😔 Yours is a perspective I haven’t seen much throughout all of this, so thank you so much for explaining your thoughts in this message.

yesss hello fellow ace baby!!!
3 // did you have a moment of “wait, sexual attraction is real?”
i didn’t!!! i was Very conscious of the fact sexual attraction is real because that’s just the society we live in, but i was happy to discover that is was also normal Not to feel sexual attraction, society just doesn’t point that out as often
16 // how do you feel about sex scenes/romantic plots/subplots in movies?
personally, i don’t mind the romantic plots/subplots but there are just so many sex scenes that are unnecessary and so many that are bordering on graphic just for the sake of it. if i know there are Lots of sex scenes and content, i won’t watch a thing because i just cannot be arsed to sit through something i don’t care about or find myself uncomfortable watching
25 // free spot!

19. What's one thing you hate the most about the fandom
Okay so, I want to start of by saying I am an inclusionist and love all ace/aro ppl with all my heart but
The ace ppl saying the q*eerbaiting w azcrow is ace rep and the ppl who worship the ground n*ilman (lmao) walks on.
Azcrow is very much baiting and confirmations on Twitter do not mean shits canon, Neil likes to use the enby card to get away with "hehe they're gay but not" by saying on Twitter "they arent gay they arent males" newsflash neilman, non binary people can be gay, and also they have Male vessels and stay in those vessels the whole time (not counting aziraphales discorparation with madame tracy).
I'm gonna link back to spn real quick because they did the exact same with castiel, saying in show and out that he dosent have a preference in who he dates and isnt definitively Male, (yes he is, he changes vessels a total of once not counting Lucifer) when he has only ever shown interest in female angels/demons.
It's the same situation and both are baiting. It gives us gays a glimmer of hope that our favourite characters could possibly be like us, (not to mention the straight folk who throw shit fits when we hc characters as gay and God forbid read scenes as romantic when they are 100% shot like one.)
Azcrow would be canon and have romance involved if azira or crow were girls, the forbidden romance trope is very prominent with them and you can bet your ass neilman would jump on that.
Also Neil gaiman isnt a good person, that's all I'm gonna say bc it's a. Not my place and B. I dont have all the information.
This turned into me ranting about q*eerbating but my point stands, sksk that's the most annoying thing imo

why does the fandom dislike s9e03 (I’m no angel)? its my second favorite cas episode and i got into spn in season 12 so i wasnt around when it aired
K so like, feel free to take this with a ring of salt or whatever you want because if you enjoy a thing that’s cool, to each their own. (Yes, this is a disclaimer of sorts, but I mean it genuinely, that this is not intended as a judgment of anyone who likes the choices that were made here or like, in most media.)
Also, it’s been 5 years since I’ve watched this episode so if/when I get details wrong, it’s cuz I didn’t like the episode enough the first or second time I watched it to rewatch it again. Here are my initial reactions. (I will also note that I was fairly optimistic about this episode prior to it airing, despite a lot of pre-episode angst about the promo pics with Cas and April kissing. There’s a bunch of stuff in my 9.03 tag.)
@justanotheridijiton also spent some time combing through @defilerwyrm ‘s old Monday Meta Digests from way back then and you can find a bunch of really great meta, including stuff from 9.03 in this post and this one.
A few more notes for context–back in season 7, 8, and 9 there were a lot of meta writers. Like, 10+ posts in the #spn meta tag (do people even use tracked tags anymore) a day during spn seasons and way more than that the night of the episode. There are some great meta writers in the community now! But there were probably 5 times more 5 years ago. And I don’t mean 200-word posts with random speculation, I mean 2000-word essays with citations and full arguments (in the persuasive way, not the _discourse_ way) so when I say that we didn’t much like 9.03 I’m specifically talking about the meta community on tumblr, but it was not a small thing.
So if you want to know all the gritty details of fandom reactions to stuff in real-time to 9.03 and early stuff, seriously, go read the MMD posts linked from Mel’s posts.
But, here’s the tl;dr version from the bits I remember best because they rubbed me and/or other people wrong in ways that I can remember:
- As a general rule, ERL&BB are pretty lousy writers. They have a lot of tell and not much show, and they always seem to include plot points that look explosive and huge from a distance but when you examine them they’re pretty shallow and hype-driven as opposed to meaningful and/or character-driven. They also seem to write Dean and Sam a lot like season 1 Dean and Sam, as if NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT EVER HAPPENED. (Thanks, I hate it.)
- In 2.01 (In My Time of Dying) Tessa the Reaper is possessed by a demon (Azazel). If Reapers are angels, this makes no sense. Like, none, whatsoever. So a lot of us were pretty fucking grumpy about that.
- Castiel sans-grace is depicted as more sexually aroused by people (specifically boobs, in one of the worst scenes ever shown on this show–was there ANY REASON to zoom in on the boobs?? how cringey can you  get) and/or sexually attracted to people specifically as one of the side effects of being graceless. Except that we know (and I am 99.99% sure that there are examples cited in the MMD links so I’m not gonna go digging on superwiki or HotN for more) Cas has been sexually attracted/interested in people before and more generally, both Balthazar and Gabriel were very clearly canonically allosexual with all of their respective grace intact. Therefore, you don’t all of the sudden take a supposedly non-sexual (see later point about ace HCs) angelic being and “turn them into a human” and HELLO now they want sex. Which was what the narrative was saying: Cas is Human Now, and you can tell because he poops, he eats, he brushes his teeth, and he wants to fuck boobs. (And why all the heterosexual gendered stuff with angels anyway they are ??? NOT HUMAN)
- Tangentially, other very smart people will disagree with me when I state without equivocation that Cas was not and can never be Human. Even without his grace he is an angel, he just doesn’t have his grace. Just like Anna was an angel before she got hers back. The grace changes how they sense the world, for sure, but it doesn’t define them as angels/not. Or else, Cas-without-grace would be Jimmy Novak, and he’s very obviously not.
- Asexual Castiel was also a really popular fanon Thing at the time and so a number of people were unhappy with 9.03 purely on these grounds. I think it’s an interesting HC (and personally I don’t think the text supports it, but I support anyone’s right to explore it so like, does it matter? no) and the Cas/April thing doesn’t mean that a person can’t still hc this, because lbr, not all of us aces are celibate. The problem here is more in the implication that Fallen Cas = Human = HE WANTS THE SEX. Sexual attraction is not a requirement of human-ness and this is a major issue (esp when so many ace/ace-coded characters just happen to be aliens or robots or whatever).
- IIRC some of the meta posts at the time discussed survival sex and how Cas wouldn’t have turned April down because he was homeless and hungry.
- Because April was not honest about her identity and used sex to get Cas’s compliance (and kill him) this is a form of rape.
- There were a lot of arguments about whether this also means that April was a victim of rape as well; she gave consent to being possessed, but where is the line there? And does consent to possession mean consent to do anything? Is the consent meaningful if a human can’t possibly understand the full scale of what possession by an angel means? If April can’t say ‘no’ at any time to revoke the possession then how consensual is the sex that her body is involved in? The answers to some of these questions might not be fully damning but the meta community had a LOT to say and the episode…. let’s just say it doesn’t even try to consider any of them to the extent that it handles all of it very poorly.
In conclusion, it’s a poorly written episode with really shallow writing cheats to “show” something that wasn’t really all that important to show other than for the titillation of sex and violence. Cas makes like, zero choices that affect the storyline in any way and it’s fucking boring, he just reacts to being graceless and alone. And the only woman with a significant part in the episode doesn’t talk to any other women and ends up being evil AND dies. Gr9 job there bucklemings, way to be awful.

Ok so when I'm reading your response I was wondering why you kept bringing up things being canon so much because to me HC are people's own personal realities and although you can HC him something that isn't explicitly talked about on the show, shouldn't it be fine for people to just imagine characters being different from their reality? Like is something really a HC if it's more or less true of actual canon?
So ... yeah, technically a headcanon is something that’s completely separate from canon. It can be extrapolated from canon, but it isn’t necessarily so. If somebody wants to headcanon Castiel as, idk, having pink wings, that’s fine, because ... it’s a headcanon, and there’s nothing that negates that on the show.
But to me, my “headcanons” aren’t separate from canon - my headcanons are the results of canon. If I didn’t have strong evidence in canon that Castiel is asexual, I wouldn’t headcanon him as ace. I know some people love to point at certain characters that they love and go “that character is [insert my sexuality/neurotype/gender/etc. here]” without it necessarily being supported in canon, but for me, I’m totally uninterested in headcanons that aren’t supported by canon.
So for me, I don’t really “headcanon” Dean as bisexual - I see him and interpret him in the text as bisexual. I don’t “headcanon” Castiel as ace and nonbinary - I see evidence for that in canon and so I see him as inherently ace and nonbinary.
I’m very logical about how I approach fandom (which I know can be silly, considering that fandom is meant to be entertaining) but if a headcanon isn’t supported in canon then I just blatantly don’t understand it, honestly. Pretty much all of my headcanons - whether or not you or the rest of fandom would actually consider them headcanons - are based upon whether or not I could compile a list of evidence and defend my case.

I have the AceCastiel HC. Sam is complicated, but definitely love AceSastiel and AceCastiel ugh ajlks 🖤🩶🤍💜
Let's remember that being asexual ≠ not having sex, it's more complex than that, and definitely Cas Ace is my series canon 🫰

2, 7, 18 for the ace asks?
2.🤍 what ace-spec microlabels, if any, do you identify as?
I don't use any microlabels. The term "asexual" describes my experience perfectly :)
7.🖤 what's your favorite asexual stereotype?
That we're all obsessed with dragons! Dragons are such a cool thing to be associated with. They're very misunderstood creatures that often get painted in a negative light, which is very reflective of queer experiences in general, but dragons are also supposed to be rare/not real, which can be very reflective of asexuals feeling isolated or like we "shouldn't exist." It's nice to be able to use dragons as a way of turning what could be negative traits into something positive. Also,, I love flight and flying creatures, so it's nice to have dragons as an ace icon.
18. 💜 what fictional characters do you headcanon as asexual?
That's kind of a complicated question because most of the characters who I hc as aro and/or ace end up getting into romantic and/or sexual relationships by the end of their character arcs, lol.
The big ones I hc as ace that you're likely to find on a lot of asexual headcanon lists are Castiel and Jack Kline (those two are 10000000% ace and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise), Sherlock Holmes, the Doctor (especially 10 and 12), and Aziraphale and Crowley (from Good Omens).

You're v adventurous. So you know how you think Cas is NB and ace, well what about his romantic orientation? Also do you have any strong opinions on people who HC Castile completely different from you?
I see Cas’s romantic orientation as demi-panromantic - essentially, that he very rarely feels romantic attraction, only develops romantic attraction to people he’s very close to, and is capable of being attracted to anybody regardless of their gender.
I do have pretty strong opinions on Castiel and people’s headcanons on his gender/sexuality. I mean, for one, even if canon has not textually confirmed that he’s nonbinary, all the evidence is there to support it - angels’ genders operate independently of their vessel, Cas has had male and female vessels, etc. So to claim that Cas is canonically cis or is a man is, I feel, ignoring a lot of evidence that pretty clearly lays out that his gender isn’t as simple as that.
And regarding Cas’ asexuality - I find it REALLY hard to read fics where Cas isn’t on the spectrum. Like, a fic where Cas is ogling Dean’s butt? That’s just absolutely foreign to me. Cas doesn’t ogle people’s bodies. Cas has never actually displayed sexual interest in anybody (and when the show HAS tried to show some hetero nonsense with Cas, it’s always been in a nonconsensual scenario, or they had that gross shot of a woman’s boobs bouncing and Cas looking at them all confused in 9.03). So like. People who are like “Cas is straight!” are foreign to me. People who insist that Castiel is very sexual are foreign to me. People who insist that Castiel only doesn’t show sexual attraction because he’s an angel are just blatantly getting it wrong, because multiple angels on the show have shown that they experience sexual attraction.
But. Yeah. I could write a lot more but I have a headache so this is probably nonsense but!! Yeah, I have strong opinions on other headcanons, largely because I feel like my headcanons are largely derived from canon, and I have a lot of evidence to back up my claims. But anyway, people are allowed to headcanon what they want, especially for a character whose sexuality and gender haven’t explicitly been talked about on the show.
