I honestly was so scared to start working on environments haha, but I'm actually really proud of these considering I've never really done something like this before.
ngl, it's about quality over quantity for me. an npc can have a total of three minutes of screen time, but if they have a cool name, they can live rent free in my head and I'll spend several hours trying to decipher drawable features from a blurry screenshot of pixels
there is a vague hint of a story here, and that's because every time I try to play thi4f, I get incredibly frustrated with how Not Fun the game play is. like, is the story good? well. but it has a PLAGUE. that should've given it instant 'I'll replay this once a year' status in my heart, but the game play sucks so bad that I've never finished it. I can't believe Not Fun gameplay beat out my obsession with narrative plagues.
anyway, the idea is basically if the original era had a game with a plague centric narrative and some other stuff I liked out of thi4f thrown into a narrative blender, with a heavy dash of horror thrown in because some parts of the thief games were scarier to me than entire dedicated horror genre games.
Heracles was his fairy godfather who blessed him with invulnerability
His myth of invulnerability predates Achilles'
Subsequently one of the earlier myths regarding his death was that Paris shot him in the heel with an Apollo-improved arrow
Other myths involved the Trojans simply burying him given they couldn't hurt him otherwise. If you can't stab a man into the Underworld, maybe just dig him door, shove him in, and block the way behind him.
His body being interred rather than cremated in the prevailing myths of his death by suicide might be a nod to that older version of his death
His method of suicide--burying the hilt of his sword in a mound of earth and then throwing himself on it--may also be a nod to earth being the only thing that can kill him. In this case, it killed him by wielding a sword.

summary: satan comes home late and tired and needs you
warnings: slightly suggestive
You're sitting in Satan's room, scrolling through your phone while you wait for him to come back. It's a little past 11 pm and you're starting to get worried and slightly lonely. You keep an eye on the time and you keep checking your phone for any message from him, but the clock continues to tick and there's nothing from him either.
You start to pace around the room, you didn't know if he was still busy and you'd be in his way if you continued to bother him, or if he was genuinely in some kind of trouble.
I'll wait until midnight, if he's not back by midnight, I'll do something. you convinced yourself.
To your relief, the door opened a couple of minutes later, revealing the blond man you were waiting for. You were about to yell at him for worrying you and scold him to at least send you a message, just so you know if he's alright, but as soon as you saw how tired he looked you didn't have the heart to say anything.
"Are you alright?" you asked as you ran over to him.
Satan dropped his stuff onto the floor and quickly pulled you into a tight embrace. He nuzzled his head into your shoulder and pulled down your sleeve to reveal more of your bare skin. He placed sloppy kisses all over your now bare shoulder and neck, very much unlike the careful, delicate ones you're used to and your breath hitched. It drove you crazy, you absolutely loved it.
"Now I am," Satan finally said, in reply to your question.
He slowly lifted his head off of your shoulder and loosened his grip around you. Now, he may be okay, but you certainly weren't after what he just did to you.
You looked up at him, hoping he'd read your mind. He saw you watching him with such hopeful eyes and he couldn't help but smile. He was an expert at reading your mind.
He took off his coat and walked to his bed, your eyes following him the entire time. Once he had sat down, he opened his arms, inviting you to join him and you immediately walked over into his embrace again.
This time Satan laughed a little. "You sure seem to want a lot tonight."
