Don't — VoicePlay & Street Corner Symphony music video

What better way could there be to announce the second Sing-Off tour than a collaboration video between two of the featured groups? VoicePlay teamed up with season 2 runners-up Street Corner Symphony, and teased that another group from the upcoming "season 5" holiday special would be joining them for another trip around the country spreading the good word of a cappella music.

Trivia:

The two groups had recently headlined back-to-back concerts at the 2014 Kettering National A Cappella Festival in Ohio.

This video served as a sneak preview of the tour, since the two groups performed the song during some of the shows.

VoicePlay had previously featured guest singers on inset screens for their "Feel This Moment" and "Talk Dirty" videos, and collaborated with another entire group for "Survivor".

Adam Chance from Street Corner Symphony later replaced Chris Rupp as the baritone for season 4 Sing-Off winners Home Free.

The original Ed Sheeran video features dancing by fellow reality show veteran Phillip "Pacman" Chbeeb who competed on season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance (2009), and with his group I.aM.mE on season 6 of America's Best Dance Crew (2011).

Now, because @claramurphyqueenoffandoms was curious and because it really needs explaining, I'm gonna talk about Layne's powers a bit more. Essentially, he can create stuff out of energy if he can make the sound for it which... it's Layne, of course he can. This power has a lot of applications. For example, some basic vocal percussion stuff may allow him to create shields, platforms, walls... You know, simple shapes. But if he imitates a horse, he now has a blue glowy horse he can ride on for faster mobility. If he imitates a lion, his opponent now has to deal with a wild animal coming at them.

I'm really excited about this moodboard because if I ever get to the finale of the story... ooooh boy, you're gonna see a lot of the foreshadowing in this.

Trivia:

Earl once again created the title-and-artist signs that Layne holds up, as well as the dating profile and the ears of corn.

The guys trail off and glare at Chris for starting to sing "Cruise" because that's the song Home Free performed on their first episode of The Sing-Off, when VoicePlay ended up in danger of elimination.

"Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" was also included in Home Free's "Butts Remix" medley, which Layne had helped Chris and Adam arrange.

They filmed this video a little over a month in advance to accommodate everyone's schedules, and to bank some material in advance of Layne's upcoming paternity leave. (Geoff and Chris weren't very sneaky about hiding their collaboration, though.)

One viewer's comment under the video caught Geoff's eye. It was basically true, no matter which way you parse it, since the three founding members had been singing together for over 20 years at that point. Their commitment to each other and the group predated any of their romantic relationships. But they do all have spouses, as well.
