Anyone else notice in 15x08 when Dean and Sam are talking to Adam in the bunker after Dean "apologizes" Michael gets annoyed and takes over again. Michael was angry cause Dean and Sam were obviously upsetting his boyfriend and he took over to let Adam calm down. Michael is a protective boyfriend.

Are Adam and Michael boyfriends or husband's at this point? I feel like a 1000 years together is long enough for common law marriage.

Michael had to save Adam. He had to. But he couldn't. Why could he not?

Michael pressed his hand on Adam's feverish brow again, calling up his Grace to heal his dearest friend from the illness ravaging his weakened body. His other hand gripped Adam's limp hand. The hand was dead weight and felt worryingly cold under Michael's touch.

If only he could possess Adam to heal him from within. But Adam could not awaken and grant him the consent he needed.

Jack had resurrected Adam. Soon after, inexplicably, Adam had become terribly sick, collapsing to the ground.

A concerned Jack got Michael out of the Empty. Michael's temporary vessel resembled Adam but felt hollow without Adam's shining golden soul. Yet the vessel did its job in allowing the Archangel to walk on Earth.

Michael was dismayed as to why Jack, as the new God, could not heal one human, but he brushed off the unsettling thought when he saw the state of Adam.

Now, Michael's fears were elevated as he held Adam's hand. His other hand stroked Adam's soft hair. Some light brown strands of hair were stuck to his sweaty forehead.

He frowned when noticing a cut had formed on Adam's face. With trembling fingers, he touched Adam's face.

He closed his eyes briefly; trying not to panic at the odd silver-colored blood within the shallow wound.

Silver where it should be red.

Jack came over to take a look at Michael's beckoning.

"I'm sorry, Michael. There's nothing I can do." He said, his voice sad.

…nothing I can do.

…nothing I can do.

Michael could do nothing to save Adam.

Michael felt lost.

All he could see was Adam's face with his eyes shut.

They would never open again.

"Michael! Wake up! Please, wake up."

Michael jolted up in bed at Adam's anxious plea.

"Adam?"

"Yeah, it's me. You had a bad dream. You're okay now." Adam spoke slowly, his voice hushed.

He gripped Michael's shoulders, forcing Michael to look directly at him.

Michael reached up to touch Adam's unblemished face. With one finger, he lightly traced down Adam's left cheek – the trail where the cut bleeding silver had been in his dream. With the absence of the cut confirmed, Michael was overcome with relief.

Adam was staring at him intently, his pale blue eyes entrancing him.

Michael removed his finger and gave him a soft smile.

"I do not dream. Adam, what happened?"

Adam shrugged. "I wish I could tell you. I'm not the one to ask. Maybe Jack knows?"

Michael nodded. There would be time later for an explanation.

Adam lay down on the bed beside him and embraced Michael. He knew what Michael needed without asking.

"It felt real. The bad dream." Michael confessed in a whisper.

"I'm sorry. But you're home now. Want to talk about the dream?"

"No, not yet."

Michael lay his hand over Adam's chest and drew comfort from the steady beating of the human's heart.

The vessel began to burn almost immediately, the fires of the pit rising to meet them before they ever reached the cage below. Hell was made for suffering, but not for corporeal bodies. The skin seared and bubbled; blood boiled, and veins burst. For Michael, once they left Earth, it was nothing to slip out of the ruined flesh, unfolding his true form from its confines.

Before he could fully exit, something caught around the end of one wing: a tendril of energy, clinging like a vine to a tree branch straining toward the sun or perhaps like the tentacle of some sea beast binding around its next meal. Adam Milligan’s soul, writhing in the torment of his body, latched onto him. Wordless. Pleading.

Across the cage, Lucifer was already outside his spoiled vessel and set himself to punishing Sam Winchester for his betrayal. He tore the smoldering flesh off in strips while the human beneath his talons begged for mercy.

Michael lifted Adam Milligan’s soul from his body, the vessel the human had invited him into, however reluctantly, and in the pitch dark of the cage, it shone so brilliantly that it drew Lucifer’s attention from the agony of Sam Winchester.

He had just enough time to tuck the soul inside himself, no attention to where, before Lucifer was upon him. The collision rang through the cage like thunder, like the quaking of earth. As they fought, Michael only registered that Adam Milligan had found a space for himself, a cavity.

The battle raged for years. Michael knew not how many. They did not tire. They did not relent.

Then, without warning, blinding light pierced through the swirling smoke that surrounded the cage. An angel. Castiel, the angel Michael smote on the battlefield before he was cast down. And how could he yet live? There was too much power around him for his status, too. His wings snapped, and Michael and Lucifer were thrown apart, each pinned to the bars of the cage.

From his trapped position, Michael watched Castiel wrap a limb around the wretched remains of Sam Winchester’s body. He lifted it quickly, and as he did so, the force holding Michael back began to weaken. He was not so strong as he first appeared. As Sam Winchester’s body rose from the cage, the dim, frayed lump of his soul fell through a hole in his abdomen.

Castiel and the body left.

Though the force holding them disappeared then, Lucifer did not charge him, and Michael did not move to pursue. Lucifer turned to the naked soul writhing on the floor.

In short order, Sam Winchester’s screams began anew.

To that sound, now years after entering the cage, Michael finally realized where Adam Milligan’s soul had burrowed in: it was the place where he received revelation, where the Heavenly Host had once been. He could not hear them anymore. His brothers and sisters, silent. All he had in their place was the warm glow of a single human soul, Adam.

Michael observed it. Adam was still and silent, a timid animal with nowhere to run. Despite his fear, the soul was intact, no fraying edges like the unfortunate Sam Winchester.

 You were not damaged in the battle, Michael observed.

The soul flinched. Adam, deep within him, replied, No.

 That means Lucifer cannot harm you in that place.

The soul unfurled by degrees. Adam wondered, Can I stay here?

As his soul expanded, Michael realized how small it had seemed in that gaping chasm for revelation. A human soul could never hope to fill such a space entirely, but the more Adam spread out, the more space he filled. The emptiness abated. He replied, You will stay there. Then, as the din of Sam Winchester’s torture filled the cage, he added, And you will pray to me.

I think adam x mikey would work in many ways. The personality dynamic works very well, I can imagine so many reasons they fall in love, they are both angelic beings so there's no questioning it in mikeys head, it fits his standards, mikey needs a person who would not let him walk all over them and tell him no and be dominant over him or else he would overpower the relationship. Adam is just as selfish and smug and prideful. The two fit. He's also just as strong. Plus war backgrounds both can chat about battles and even team up in exterminations. It's perfect. Both have also had a history w luci is different ways. Plus luci would get jealous lol of his brother stealing adam when he could not. I also imagine the two preening each other's wings it's cute.
