Star Trek III: The Search For Spock

Mini drawing of Doctor McCoy from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock that I drew in the note space of December 16th in my 2023 diary, which is the day that I watched this film for the first time.

I had an absolute nightmare drawing this one, which is why it’s so late. First it took me ages to get the facial features right, then I spent ages trying to work out just how many different colours there were in the image I chose, then meticulously blending them all on each part of the drawing. I knew that it was probably a bad idea to pick that specific reference, because of how many colours there were reflecting off of McCoy, but I went ahead with it anyway. I put quite a bit of pressure on myself for this one too, because this is my favourite of the Trek movies, and Dr McCoy is my favourite character, so I wanted this one to be especially good. However, I have never been so happy to complete a diary illustration before! I suppose I am happy with how he came out, but I still feel he could've been better. It took me from Dec 21st to Jan 13th to do the whole thing (granted I did take a break over Christmas and new year and then I got I’ll, so I suppose I should cut myself some slack).

By the time I got to writing in the title, I’d just about had it with the project, so I don’t really like how it came out. The font and colours are based on one of the original movie posters.

On the bright side though, this was the very last drawing I had to do in my 2023 diary! On to 2024 now…

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO WATCHING MILGRAM (as of the end of the 2nd trial)

INTRO

What's Milgram? Milgram is a multimedia project whose central concept revolves around the audience judging the character's crimes. All of them stand accused of murder after being brought to the mysterious prison of Milgram, but were their actions truly wrong? Only the audience, through the medium of the amnesiac guard Es, can decide that. Vote them GUILTY or INNOCENT according to your ethics or your whims over the course of three trials , and watch how their lives change in response.

You can read a list of trigger warnings here. Who's working on it? The musical and visual components are led by the vocaloid producer Deco*27 and his employees at OTOIRO, with him working on the lyrics and composing half the songs, while the other half is handled by Rockwell. Teddyloid often works in the songs' arrangement as well. Yamanaka Takuya is in charge of all writing in the MILGRAM project, except for the novels and their manga adaptation which were done by Nami Tsumi. His works tend to revolve around trauma and people's inner darkness, and are often music-related multimedia franchises such as the Caligula Effect series, Utagoe wa Mille-Feuille and Boisterous Six. (Fun fact: the last one was prompted by the thought that if he made a collab with the Takuya Yamanaka who's part of The Oral Cigarettes, maybe people would stop confusing them. It did not work.)

How do I vote? You'll need an account for either Twitter or LINE (Japanese texting app). Then go to the JUDGE page in the official website and click on the icon of a character that's not grayed out. (If they all are, then you need to wait until the new trial starts). You'll be asked to give the site permission to use your Twitter/LINE account. The website should remember your credentials afterwards. You can vote once a day every day for as long as the poll is open. The general rhythm of the project is that a song releases, then another releases next month and the next one takes two months to come out. Since each poll lasts for three months, this means that there should always be two characters available for voting, unless there are delays or you're at the very end or start of a trial.

How does this guide work? / Usage notes Due to Tumblr's restriction on the amount of links per post, this guide will have three parts. They're organized content according to platform/format, but I also paid mind to original release date and overall importance to the plot.

I recommend watching all the first trial content before starting with the second trial. So, begin with the 1st set of voicelines, then the videos and timelines, then double back onto the second set. Everything from the Illustrations and Previews section onwards isn't part of the main game and can be ignored if desired.

I've added some supplementary notes and explanations when I thought it was relevant. Sometimes the information is part of a larger theory post, but please don't take the link as endorsement of any particular theory.

There will be links to the MILGRAM wiki, which is not spoiler-free. If you navigate to the character's main pages, you will immediately see images that spoil developments in the latest trial. This also applies to the official website's character pages. There will also be Youtube links. Since the suggestions can also contain spoilers, you can copypaste the link into Polsy to avoid them. You'll still get videos thumbnails when you pause or when the video ends, but from what I can see they're limited to the videos found on the uploader's channel.

A different set of translations can be found in the Milgram wiki. It is also the easiest way to access the audio, as old lines get retired from the official website and Wayback Machine is inconsistent in saving them. The quotes can be found in their own subpage, such as https://milgram.fandom.com/wiki/Momose_Amane/Quotes . Substitute character names accordingly, and keep in mind that Muu and Fuuta's names are spelled with two u's.

According to the writer's tweets, the prompts for the first trial's voicelines are: 1) Introduce yourself. 2) You're a murderer, aren't you? 3) Is there something you'd like to tell the guard (me)? 4) and 5) What do you think about Milgram?

Loading Screen During the first trial, the loading icon for the website displayed the message "Sing your sins." When the second trial started, the icon was changed. Now it looks the same as the first one for a second, then morphs into "Doubt your punishment." You can see a gif of it here.

Teasers These are brief videos which feature the characters speaking sentences out of context. So far we've seen some, but not all of them pop up in the series itself. Some seem to take place in the past, so it's likely not all of them will show up. Note that these videos contain flashing lights, chaotic visuals and screaming. Voice Trailers These trailers have normal and glitchy lines. The normal parts are taken from the website voice lines, while the glitchy lines aren't featured anywhere else. Translations for the static-filled lines can be found in the comment section, and Rochisama also translated the second-trial lines in their website. - First season voice trailer - Second season voice trailer

PV Technically our first real intro to the series, but given the unstranslated onscreen text and the dodgy subtitles, it can be skipped. There's some concept art not shown elsewhere; A cleaned up version can be viewed here and here. The website features a lower shot of the same art shown in the last link.

Song trailers These feature short snippets of upcoming content: songs and one sentence per prisoner. You can skip this if you've already watched the songs and voice dramas in question; the only difference is that sometimes the translation is slightly different. - First trial - Second trial

Main Songs, Jackalope Videos and Voice Dramas In-universe, the voice dramas take place before the songs. However, up until midway through the second trial the songs were uploaded first and the albums (containing the dramas) would be released 1-2 weeks later, so it seems the intended viewing order is the other way around. The tracklist order also supports this, so I'll be using the song->voice drama order. ES and Undercover are special cases. Undercover doesn't seem to exist in-universe, with the timeline for this one being A Milgram Anybody Can Understand->ES->Website voicelines. For the sake of consistency, I still used the song->VD ordering, with A Milgram being placed afterwards due to being released later.

Lastly, some of the official English titles are different from the Japanese ones. I wrote down both the official translation, marked (EN), and a translation from Japanese marked (JP)

Undercover (Instrumental) Notes: Milgram's theme song and its first release. The official subtitles were changed during the second trial to reference the song titles, at the cost of being less accurate to the original Japanese: you can see the original lyrics here. The lamp that shows up at 2:11 says 御霊燈, "spirit lantern." This kind of lantern is placed at the house of the deceased for 49 days after death. It serves to both announce that the family is in mourning and a guide for the spirit of the deceased; fire being a way for ghosts to find their way from and to the afterlife is a common motif in Japanese folklore. Does anyone have any sources actually showing that c.ai causes a high amount of environmental harm? I've seen people say that but so far I haven't seen any actual sources for it. The only one I've seen sources given for is chat gpt, which runs off of different software (and also generates images and even videos, not just text). And when I researched it myself, while the carbon footprint c.ai has isn't great, it doesn't seem to be as horrifically bad as people are saying it is? In fact, several major social medias & sites, including tiktok, tumblr, reddit, pinterest, discord, instagram, and spotify all have noticeably worse carbon footprints than it shows to, and several of them, including tumblr, tiktok, reddit, pinterest, and spotify are not running off of sustainable energy, while c.ai does. So I'm confused where this information is coming from. For reference, the main website I used to find out the carbon footprint of websites is websitecarbon.com, and it does explain on it how it tests these things. And when looking into it further I even found a study showing that generative ai actually generally requires less power than human writing and illustration does (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10867074/). Which just made me very surprised (because I thought it was at least proven that certain things like chat gpt were more harmful for the environment) but also even more confused where this is coming from, because most people online talking about the problems with ai bring up environmental harm, and I don't think that idea came from nowhere. So I want to know if there are sources on it, and maybe I'm just failing to find them?

Additional note to avoid the comments devolving into assumptions, this is not me being pro generative ai. While I don't want to spread misinformation about it and make it out to be worse than it is when it comes to things like environmental harm, I am against it being used publicly or for any sort of profit since it 'creates' what it does by taking from people's creative work without their permission, whether that be monetary by shit like premium subscriptions and ad revenue on ai sites, or through attention by posting ai generated content, text, image, or auditory based, whether you are clarifying it's ai generated or not.

Sorry this question is very long, since it's already something I've done research into, I wanted to make sure it was clear what I have already looked at so I don't get answers that are repeats of what I already looked through.

Hi! I was wondering if you had any advice on how to craft a well-written, compelling Arthurian OC that isn't obnoxious or out of place but is still unique. I recognize the difficulty in doing so with so many different source texts (I'm most familiar with Le Morte, so that's usually my go-to) and the vast list of already existing characters. I'm just curious about your thoughts on the matter, since you're an author and also very knowledgeable about Arthuriana 💖

Hello there!

This is a tough question to answer! I think it's important to note that everyone will have a different opinion on this, but that shouldn't alter you writing your story how you want to. Some think adding any characters at all is too big of a change, while others write a full cast of original characters and then Merlin shows up randomly and makes the story "Arthurian."

I'm going to say something controversial.

Every Arthurian character is an OC.

Even King Arthur himself is an OC.

I'm going to elaborate on this quite a bit, as it's very important to me. But the TL;DR is that reading more will definitely help you conceptualize the boundaries of what's possible. Le Morte d'Arthur is a great start, but there's so much out there, both medieval and modern, that'll undoubtedly aid in your Arthuriana writing journey! :^)

While I do say things like "I love Arthurian OCs" as a means to convey that I view everyone's new creations as valid and interesting, I actually don't believe in a strong differentiation between Chretien de Troyes' Sir Lancelot or Marie of France's Sir Lanval and what you or I are writing today. We're participating in a tradition which can, at times, necessitate the creation of a new character or repurposing of an existing one. I think as soon as you create a character for your Arthurian story, they're an Arthurian character. Some refer to Lancelot or Galahad as "French OCs" or call Knight of the Cart or the Vulgate "fanfiction" as a means to degrade it's validity. Some seem to have an arbitrary timeline on which the full body of Arthurian works is measured, and the more recently something was written, the less authentic it becomes. I think they're wrong. I believe that whether or not we enjoy an installment in the ever expanding Arthurian tradition is irrelevant; it's all equally entitled to a measure of respect, even the new characters. No character or story is lesser than another by virtue of its age or language of origin or target audience or medium. I disdain the excess of scrutiny put upon certain arbitrary groupings of Arthurian tradition. Each story is full of original characters and building on the foundations of what came before. That's the nature of creative influence. Whether or not Arthur was a real person at some point in history is moot. The guy in the Mabinogion or the Vulgate or Le Morte d'Arthur or BBC Merlin is a character. He's a tool to tell a story. Such as your creation will be! Your brand new Arthurian character stands equally with all the rest who preceded them. :^)

Now, it can be helpful to distinguish between a medieval character and a modern one, sure, as they may represent different things depending on what point in history (or part of the world) they were created in. But Arthuriana isn't a franchise one must obtain express permission to contribute to, and it doesn't have a "canon," so therefore differentiating a character as "other" can be counter productive when developing a story. I don't believe Sir Robin from Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975) or Brian from The Adventures of Sir Lancelot (1956-1957) are any less valuable as characters, even if they do draw on traits of existing Arthurian motifs in order to commentate on them or otherwise expand. In fact I think they're great characters and serve their narrative roles beautifully. One simple and one complex. I recommend watching those to see how it's done well and that may help you develop your own characters. But I'll delve into it a bit here to illustrate what I mean.

Sir Robin carries the coat of arms of a chicken, he's a cowardly knight followed around by a troupe of musicians that sing songs about all of his exploits. That is, the things he's run away from. Rather than use an existing Arthurian character and degrading them, Monty Python developed Sir Robin in order to tell their joke.

The flipside is Brian, a bona fide kitchen boy, who attaches himself to Sir Lancelot and desires to squire for him. Brian's narrative purpose is to deconstruct the nobility in a way that Gareth Beaumains, whom Brian is plainly inspired by, could not. Brian begins as a true serf forced to endear himself to Sir Lancelot to elevate his station. Merlin forges papers of nobility to convince King Arthur that Brian is worthy of this privilege. Even after that, Brian must face the brutality of his fellows while living in the barracks with them, as they don't take kindly to a "smelly kitchen boy" in their midst, plotting to get Brian to incriminate himself as a thief and get evicted from Camelot by Sir Kay. This role is incongruous with Gareth as Sir Gawain's brother, who was always noble, always a prince, and merely cloaked himself in the guise of poverty to prove a point. Gareth could return to the comforts of wealth whenever it suited him and his reason for going stealth was to intentionally distance himself from that privilege. The character Brian exists in order to commentate on the injustice of the upper class's oppression and dehumanization of the lower class in a way Gareth, or even Tor, could not, as they are of noble blood, even if it came by way of reveal. That's why Brian is a great addition to the Arthurian tradition.

Really, it comes down to treating the creation of your new Arthurian character like you would developing one for any other work, one entirely separate from the tradition. If they're a good character, they're a good character! Try not to get hung up too much on whether or not they're going to mesh well with the rest of the cast. For centuries, writers have transformed historical figures into Arthurian characters. (See: King Mark of Kernow better known as the Cuckhold King from the Prose Tristan, Owain mab Urien better known as Sir Yvain from Knight of the Lion by Chretien de Troyes, Saint Derfel better known as Derfel Gadarn from The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell, etc.)

Speaking of Prose Tristan, would anyone consider Sir Dinadan an OC? Or Sir Palomides? They're characters added to a story drawing from a much, much older tradition, and I think they enrich the story. I feel likewise about the many Perceval Continuations, including the German Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach, which adds a half brother named Sir Feirefiz, or names Chretien's anonymous haughty maiden Orgeluse. What about Sir Aglovale's son Moriaen in the Dutch tradition? Amurfina in German Diu Krone by Heinrich von dem Türlin? Morgan le Fay's daughter Puzella Gaia in Italian La Tavola Ritonda? Not to mention the countless Middle English additions. The Green Knight and his wife? Dame Ragnelle and Sir Gromer? Or how about everyone's favorite Savage Damsel, Lynette of Castle Perilous? Is she not a late-era addition to the tradition courtesy of the man, the myth, the legend, Sir Thomas Malory himself? And then here comes Tennyson, who read Le Morte d'Arthur, and got to the end of dear Gareth Beaumains' story and had the same reaction we all did: "What the hell? He marries her sister?" And then he went about changing that in Idylls of the King. Speaking of Lynette, what's up with her niece Laurel? She's just a name on a page, the vast majority of retellings choose to ignore her, even if they do keep Lynette and Lyonesse. Laurel can scarcely be called a character, after all. She doesn't even have dialogue. So as I've gone out of my way to make her a prominent, fully developed character, with her own culture and back story and motivations, does that make her an OC of mine? And Henry Newbolt who included Laurel in his play Mordred: A Tragedy. And Sarah Zettel, who wrote from Laurel's point of view in Camelot's Blood. We did all the work, but we threw an Arthurian name on the character, so therefore, she isn't ours? But if we changed her name, she would be? Who gets to decide?

All of the Arthurian characters belong to all of us. That's the beauty of writing in a long-standing tradition, which exists apart from all other forms of writing. We have complete creative liberty to do what we want and refer to it how we want and no person or corporation or anyone can dictate otherwise. The intellectual property of Arthuriana belongs to the people. So invent a brand new wife for Gawain, and well, you're only the millionth author to do it! Just make sure she's an interesting character and that's literally the only requirement. Can't wait to meet her. (And all others you create!)

Welcome Home Spoilers/Theory - Sped up Record

I’m posting this in in my art blog because I don’t want notifications to pile up in my casual Tumblr blog and I was planning on making more fanart for Welcome Home when I get time off from my new job. Recently, I looked at the WH site update with some of my friends. One of my friends, @isafoxfire made a very interesting discovery! I would like to thank her for her permission in posting this. I will probably tagged @theneighborhoodwatch, as they are a wonderful source of information when Welcome Home started blowing up this year.

My friend Isafoxfire owned a record player before and she noticed that the record player video on the WH site was not playing at the right speed. I have not owned a record player before, but apparently records are to be played at a certain speed depending what size they are. So she took the audio from that video and sped it up and cleaned up the static from it.

I saw someone else on a discord I was in sped up the audio but they did not clean up the static much so here is the audio courtesy of Isafoxfire.

It appears to be an audio of (Julie?) singing about a song for birds and then a narrator saying “Alice found herself falling to Home…. Down, down.” And then an exclamation from Julie again can be heard.

This may or not be related to old concept art from Clown depicted Julie at the edge of the black void that could be found under Home.

Hi, I don't know if this is asking too much, but Ichika recently posted some tweets and updated her biography with information about the use of her illustrations, I don't know if you could translate them to give us more context, mostly about how this would affect sites like the wiki or if it only literally refers to the fact that its reproduction for profit is prohibited.

EDIT: Just as a note--when she says "イラスト", while that does literally translate to "Illustration", it is a broad term that includes her sketches and concept art. It's not "Illustration" in the English sense meaning "pictures that illustrate scenes in a book".

What she's posted in the bio is simply that useage of her artwork without permission is prohibited. It mentions nothing about profit. I know the typical American attitude (as an American) is that "if it's not for profit then it's fine", but that's not actually the attitude of the rest of the world, so probably not safe to assume that's the case here.

From what I understand from the tweets, she's not referring to simple reposting of her artwork. Specifically, she says that while she's not giving the green light to do it, she understands that it's useful for reference purposes and whatnot and she doesn't mind it all that much. I think what she's objecting to is more like people using her work as raw material for their own artwork (like the trend of coloring in her illustrations, perhaps).

Whatever the case, she says that she understands she hasn't made any clear statements on the matter until now, so she's not applying it retroactively, but she just wanted to let people know this was her stance going forward.

I will say--I do think the fandom has a tendency to treat her work, both her private art and official Evillious art, like it's public domain. I haven't personally been on the tag in a while but I know that even a few years back there were a lot of people reposting her twitter art without credit or permission, or even signing their own name on it after making minor alterations like adding color or changing some of the lines. I don't know if her comments here are a response to that sort of thing (all the AI image scraping concerns probably has something to do with it too), but she is well within her rights to ask people not do that, so I hope they respect her wishes here.

Love how Pharaoh Cub and Scar's relationship is in your stories. Defiantly want to see Scar being smug when he wins against the Pharaoh, only for it to vanish when he still gets dominated by that man. lol. (Side note, can I ask for some details on the Pharaoh's personality vs Cub's? And in how they differ in treating people?)

Oh yes, when I have the last chapter of the first part of the Lost Prince AU posted tomorrow tomorrow, I'll have to get back to the Pharaoh TCG fic, now that Scar's finally won. I have a few ideas brewing. >:D

As for the Pharaoh vs Cub, I have some thoughts. Here I'm talking just about them as characters and how I tend to write them. And this does touch on shippy things and D/s dynamics but more to illustrate the differences, just as a head's up for ppl not comfy with that kind of thing. <3

in the context of the Pharaoh as his own separate being, he's very... domineering, in a way. He's a god, of course he's better than everyone else. He knows his own power and how to use it. This is not to say he's just a tyrant, because he's not. He just demands respect and will punish anyone who fails to give it. In his land, in his pyramids, the Pharaoh's rule is absolute and you will obey him. But he will be sweet to those he cares about and loves. Even in submission to, say, Beef, it's a choice, a command, he's setting the rules of their engagement and their dynamic so he gets what he wants out of it.

Cub isn't like that. He's more of a brat. Maybe he'll obey, but maybe he won't. He does his own thing, but it's not coming from a sense of divine authority, of being over everyone else. He's just entertaining himself. Cub's the 'seek forgiveness rather than ask permission' kind of brat (most of the time anyway). He's also not a mouthy, loud brat either. He's the quiet type, the ones you don't really notice until you realise the mess they've caused lol. Not really interested in leadership; more interested in building secret tunnels and stealing artefacts lol. He's a sneaky boy. :D But he also cares a lot too. He knows their boundaries and where to draw the line, because he's silly but he's not stupid.

Unlike the Pharaoh who is in control when he submits, for Cub, he really isn't. At least, obedience is earned (or taken) by higher powers, whether that's King Ren or Scar or the Vex or the Pharaoh, it doesn't matter. For the Pharaoh, there is no higher power than him; for Cub, that isn't the case. Lack of control is what he likes.

You can contrast this nicely with Cub and Scar and their relationship with the Vex. For Scar, there's a more business-like feel to their arrangement. He doesn't kill Vexes bc he's not allowed, and they give him all the riches he could ever want and place him in positions of power like the Mayorship. For Cub, it's totally different. It's subservience to a higher power, a possessive power, something deserving of worship and respect. It brings power too, and magic, and prosperity, as long as he gives his body to the Vex to do with as they please.

This is why Scar is the Power, and Cub is the Vessel. Scar represents the power and magic of the Vex, and Cub is what that power fills and is channelled through. Adding False as the Will gives that magic purpose and direction. She makes their work more effective, though they've done plenty on their own.

The Pharaoh would never bow to the Vex the way Cub does. He has his own magic that is just as powerful, if not moreso, than that of the Vex. He sees his Vex magic as useful, but he has better tools at his disposal, so he uses them instead. After all, he is a god. Gods do not bend their knee to silly creatures like Vex. But he does lean on it a little with Cub, because Cub is weak to it like Scar is.

The Pharaoh's magic is also very hot and fiery, whereas the Vex prefer ice and coldness. They are opposites in that regard. The Pharaoh's magic simply burns all the effectiveness of Vex magic away, which is why he doesn't really use it himself. He's the son of Ra, the sun god. Ice magic is useless against him. The Vex can't possess a god either; he's not a player, in the way Cub was a player before he was Pharaoh. I mean, he IS, but he also really isn't. The Kingly Ka, the divine soul of Horus that makes someone Pharaoh, is what makes him divine. He's no longer simply human after that point.

The Kingly Ka was never passed on to young Cub tho. It's not young Cub we see as the Pharaoh in the TCG arena, but old Cub. Pharaoh Cub. The one who is divine. It's on the card, too. Cub is not the Pharaoh, he's a separate being now. He died at the end of s7 after building a pyramid, which is traditionally the tomb for a king, and s8 is Cub's metaphorical journey through the afterlife before he returns for s9. This is me getting back on my Book of Caverns bullshit, but it is the title of a real Ancient Egyptian book of the afterlife, and what did Cub spend s8 building? A canyon filled with caverns! The moon crashing into the earth can be seen as his way of understanding his death and transformation/rebirth into his young skin in s9. bc that's how I'm dealing with the whole 's8 was a simulation' lore from RenDoc.

Hello lémurblogs I have a question, how do you make your drawings? (๑'ᴗ')ゞ

Hello! It depends on each drawing. Generally, I sketch on paper and bring the scan into Clip Studio where I adjust the levels (make the whites brighter and blacks darker without losing too much detail) and redraw anything or adjust proportions with the transform tools. I apply color on top with layers set to Multiply, Overlay, and/or Soft Light.

An important step for me is taking at least a day to look at it with fresh eyes. If I'm stuck, it also helps to check how it looks on my phone. And lately adjusting the Color Balance has been my friend.

My process is pretty messy and I often don't have a plan; I just feel around to see what's good for a drawing and do it a little differently each time. For example I don't plan to color, shade, or add a background to 90% of my drawings, but they end up that way bc something will feel missing, so little by little stuff gets added.

I followed a strict pipeline as a teenager ("sketch this way, do line art that way, color like this") and ended up dreading digital art, so I took a step back. Now I give myself permission to be as messy, lazy, and improvised as I like. I'll draw or edit all on one layer even though that's not what people teach, bc it actually works for me.

I also find it useful to strike fast and finish as 'quick' as I can. Because it's natural for me to have drawings that become months or years-long WIPs. and that's fine! but it can't be everything I'm working on or I get discouraged.

Oh, and drawing on post-it notes really helped me complete those small illustrations for madaparty! It was such a life-hack when I realized it'll help me complete small ideas in one sitting. I love drawing compositions, but forget about them on a big sketchbook page where lots of little drawings have no borders, so the small post-its really helped. It also helped me think more with metaphor or staging, rather than getting lost in anatomy poses and being too literal.

im a mod on a couple of servers on discord and i got so irate about this ridiculous fearmongering over absolutely nothing that i [we] put out some version of the following announcement in those servers and i highly recommend other servers do similar announcements, with updated information as and when it becomes available.

it is always every person's job to check for misinformation. when misinformation runs rampant, you have an obligation to stop it wherever and however you can.

In light of the recent fearmongering across different social media regarding DomoAI and discord's use of generative AI, we feel the need to address the concerns going around at the moment. DomoAI isn't a recent partnership of discord, and its MO hasn't changed since then. The well-intentioned ideas of banning the server integrations from servers by banning their IDs is well intentioned, but fundamentally does not work the way everybody seems to think it does. Please see our previous announcement for our stance on Generative AI in [Server]. When researching it ourselves, we find the following: Every discord application/integration has a user ID. DomoAI is not being "sneakily" added to servers and not showing up in the member list because it's a server integration, not a "user". It has been in the apps for several months now. Having a user ID does not mean the integration is a user that can be banned. It is not in the server, it is not in the server list - it would be like trying to ban the gif button. Banning the ID will not do anything to prevent it from being used within this server. See the attached screenshots of myself banning the integrations in a different server. [side note: very very easy to check that this doesn't work in a random server, such as a personal one. ban the IDs, take a screenshot of you banning those ids and send it into your own server. you can see that the bots are literally still there, on that exact picture. even after banning them. running the bots with an alt account that i don't give a shit about in my personal server, that i banned them from, still allows the bot to send messages. i recommend using these screenshots to help illustrate to server members] It cannot see your data until the integration is run, not just per DomoAI's page (which, understandably, you don't want to believe), but per Discord's policy, specifically: "Because these apps are not installed directly to your server, they don’t have permissions to do anything other than send messages, including attachments and embeds." See DomoAI's actual consent page when you click on it to use it, screenshot attached (I clicked "cancel" and did not consent, obviously. This was for illustrative purposes.) The only bots actually integrated into this server for use are listed here and the bots list for transparency [listed]. All of this is to say that banning the IDs doesn't do what people think it might, and the only actual action we can take as mods is to disable external apps. This would mean if someone tried to do that to artwork in the server, it notifies the original creator. It would be a bannable offence from the server.

I heard there’s a new bar which has a good reputation, so I came to try it out, but the inside of the bar was more eye-catching than I expected. While being a little overwhelmed, by the people who enjoyed drinking all over the area, I looked around.

Blue lights dropped on the white-based counter with stools, as if you were in the deep sea, not surprising that I can feel a mysterious and cozy atmosphere here.

When looking further, there’s a wide open floor in the back there, on the contrary, the lighting was dimmed, and changed the color-based of the table seat to black.

In the space reminiscent of the deep sea, the dartboard mounted on the wall gives off a faint light and looks like a moonlight that illuminates the sea at night.

 “Indeed, it’s a neat bar”

I sit down at the counter for the time being, and ask for a low-frequency cocktail. It's almost time for the appointment with Lucien.

The moment I took a sip of the beautiful purple liquid that shines in the atmosphere of the bar, a smartphone that I put on the table trembled.

Lucien's name shows on the screen. It may not be heard clearly in a lively atmosphere like this. I should go outside once..., I stood up without looking behind me, which was my fault.

“Ahh!”

“Eh!?”

I didn't think that there was someone right behind me.

The liquor from the glass that belonged to that person who tried to avoid me was spilled, and wet his clothes.

“I’m sorry!”

I hurriedly pulled out a handkerchief from my bag and tried to wipe his wet pants, but...

“Huh..., seriously?”

I think I've heard that certain voice from somewhere.

It can’t be... . And I try to raise my head.

“Shaw!?”

“You’re too noisy, I can hear you even if you don’t make such a loud voice like that”

He is in a bad mood with a big face. I can clearly tell it.

“Why are you here?...rather than that, your clothes!”

The amount was less than I expected, and it didn't get soaked so much. But I'm the one who's wrong here, and when I tried to wipe it, he suddenly grabbed my wrist.

“Eh, hey, let me go”

“What should I do with, this. I have an important business talk after this”

“That’s why I’m trying to wipe it! I can’t wipe if you don’t let my hand go”

“Do you really think it’s your fault?”

I didn’t know since when he was in a good mood, as if he was enjoying it, Shaw smirked and looked into me.

“Wait, first of all, let go of my arm...”

Shaw tried to shake off my grabbed arm and pulled it hard, as taking advantage of my reaction, he narrowed our distance.

“Besides, you’re surprisingly bold”

“It was…!”

“You can leave that aside, right?”

Suddenly, a familiar voice fell overhead, and I was strongly drawn to the back.

“Lucien!”

His large chest catches my back, and a warmth slowly relaxes my body.

“I’m sorry, but. She has an appointment with me”

In front of Lucien who lives casually, Shaw bluntly says “The trouble has come”, but he still happily raised his eyebrows, and put his hands which had lost their place into his pocket.

“Or, did she do something?”

“I think you've seen it all, don’t you?”

“So?”

“Of course, she’ll take the responsibility and go out with me after this, don't you mind?”

“If I said I refuse?”

“Don’t answer the question with a question. It’s so annoying”

“You’re the one who returned it first”

“Hmm--- damn. If so, that. Let’s compete using that”

Shaw pointed to the darts, on the back of the floor with his chin.

“Hurry up”

Shaw, who didn’t hear our answer, started walking away. Lucien said nothing and walked along while holding my waist.

“Lucien...”

“It’s okay, don't worry about anything.”

“But, you don’t have to do this competition”

“What are you babbling about?”

Shaw is already standing in front of the dartboard, pretending to throw his soft-tip dart.

“Even though I know, but if I win, you have to go out with me today”

The tip of the dart caught me, and I took a deep breath.

“Hey, even if you didn’t do this thing, I’ll pay your cleaning fee...”

When I said that, Lucien’s hand was stretched out in front of me, which made me unable to continue my words.

“I’m pretty impatient without coke”

“You, are a veteran, aren’t you? I can see it. I won’t be kind to a guy like you”

“What a coincidence, me too. In that case, what rules do we use to compete? Count Up?, or Zero One?”

“We won’t do such a troublesome thing like that. The one who can lands on the triple 20 is the winner"

“That rule is simple. Alright, I don’t want to spend my time for doing this thing either”

“It helps me that you’re a fast learner”

“I’m honored by your kind words”

Shaw laughed at Lucien’s irony, he held the tip dart diagonally and threw it with a clean, lean movement towards the dartboard.

One-throw, two-throw with an alternative throw, both of them got their specific target without difficulty.

Meanwhile, I can only stare at the battle between two people without knowing it. Seemingly I was unconsciously clenching my hands, but suddenly I thought that Lucien’s gaze stopped at me, he approached me, grabbed my hand, and gently dropped his lips onto it.

“Lucien…”

“Don’t be so nervous. Leave it to me”

When I was dozing off by his words, he laughed softly and this time he kissed my forehead.

“Wha, damn. I missed it.”

When I raised my head towards Shaw’s voice, the tip of the third throw was slightly misaligned and stuck near the border of the next area.

“When someone is throw dart, you’re flirting with her, you don’t have any manner huh”

“For someone who doesn't understand common sense, need something like that?”

As Lucien said that, he threw a tip in a flowing form and brought it down accurately.

“I win”

“Huh, okay-okay, I got it”

“Ah, wait, your cleaning fee…”

“I don’t need it, it’s already dry. But...I’ll take you away seriously next time.”

The moment we passed each other, there were whispered words that only I could hear. My heart, which should have calmed down a little, is pounding again.

“Wha...what was that…”

“He, didn’t seem to be serious about the competition”

While I’m stunned, Lucien sits down and sits me on the table’s sofa.

“It was my fault for getting his clothes dirty, even Lucien got involved...I’m really sorry.”

“You don’t have to worry about it anymore. Instead, my throat is dry so maybe we should drink something”

Lucien stocked my head and called out to a waiter who passed by.

“Eh? That’s why you took that competition!?”

“That’s right. Would you like, to bet with me?

Suddenly, the dark lighting is further darkened.

When I raised my face, I met his face at a close distance in front of me.

I couldn’t find his gentle eyes until a while ago, and his gaze pierced me.

A long, manly hand rests on the back of the sofa, and I can’t move because I’m surrounded. No, maybe even without it I can’t move either.

A slightly lower voice echoes near my ear, and flows into my brain.

“What, what if, you miss it?”

“It won’t”

He went to the front of the darts, he held it up and threw a tip without hesitation in the blink of an eye.

A tip dart that makes a rattle noise.

As he said that he won’t miss, the tip pierced the center as if it was sucked in.

“With this, you are mine forever”

He put his hand on the sofa again, his other hand entwined my back hair. Even though I said we’re still in the bar, Lucien kissed me and entangled his tongue deeply.

“Hghnnn…, Lu…”

“Did you think I wasn’t jealous? I might look envious, but I'm actually greedy, didn’t I already say that before?

His finger traces my wet lips. A slightly stiff fingertip followed his chin and slowly slipped down to my neck, involuntarily leaking a small moan. 

"Tell me, who do you belong to?"

"I’m, Lucien's..."

Answering with trembled lips, Lucien squints with full satisfaction, and his faintly illuminated, lustrous lips draw an arc.

"Good, you did it well"

A kiss dropped again.

I saw a waiter behind him who brought a drink, I hurriedly pushed his chest, but he didn't intend to stop kissing me.

"What a shame, are you shaken?"

When Shaw leaves the bar, someone calls him out from the darkness.

It's the same voice he heard in the bar before, but he knew that the owner of this voice was different without looking at it.

"No matter you or her, have a bad personality huh" 

"We're not same each other"

She fluttered her black one-piece dress, and when she lined up before he knew it, she enlace her thin arms as if she were always doing it.

"What are you going to do?"

"Hm, pretend to be a lover?"

"Go ask somewhere else"

"Uhuh, you're so cold"

While saying that with her mouth, her arm can't be unraveled. Her slippery, delicate hand slowly lowered, overlapping Shaw's hand and clenched it tightly. 

"Give it to me normally"

"Why not. Sometimes this kind of thing is fresh, isn't it?"

"I don't need that"

"Oh, mannerism isn't that good, you know?"

When Shaw tried to let go, she was drawn and stretched, closing her eyes and waiting.

"Where's the reward?"

Saying that happily, there's no sign of movement.

Another girl passed by in Shaw's mind for a moment, irritated and drowned out, he dropped a kiss.

With a rough bite, Shaw squeezes a piece of paper in his hand and push it into his pocket.

"...Satisfied?"

"Yeah, because I saw your suffered face"

"Who is suffering? you got it wrong"

Shaw, turns his back while waving his hand when he is done with it.

"...You weren't, the one who tried to break your promise first"

That woman in one-piece black dress' voice, didn't reach him.

hi 🥰 would it be possible if you wrote something with like a reader that’s charles leclercs girlfriend and she’s like, really good at drawing but she keeps it hidden since she’s very critical of her artwork, and she starts doing these like portraits of the drivers in her own private time, like lots of them, since she has love for all of her boyfriends friends - like in a friendly, they treat me so nice way - and the reader like leaves them at places she knows the respective drivers will find them and everyone in the fandom and the paddock is like trying to figure out who does these drawings and they eventually figure out it’s her and like fluff w charles at the end when he finds out 🥰

“Jesus, it’s ridiculous how talented the fans are man” Charles commented on the drawing Pierre had hanging up in his driver’s room, “they even managed to make you look good”

“It’s amazing right?” Pierre opted to ignore to insult thrown in there by his friend, instead focusing on the drawing that had been slid under his door earlier in the day, “Max also got one, it’s got a cute little message on the back and everything too”

“Lets see?” Charles asked permission as he slightly held out his hand for his friend to pass it over, up close it was even more impressive, a simple drawing of Pierre, smiling, but somehow capturing how happy he truly was in that moment. It kind of looked like him from earlier in the day when they were all sitting in the paddock before practice having some lunch, it couldn’t be though, no fans could’ve seen them there, could they?

He turned the image over and there on the back was a gorgeous quote in his native French, in a handwriting he was so sure he recognized from somewhere but couldn’t quite place.

“Found it on the floor of my drivers’ room, assume someone had slipped it under the door while we were busy earlier” Pierre could almost sense the confusion from Charles, “maybe they gave them to one of the crew as they were walking in to give it to me”

“Max got one too?” Charles was trying to figure out how he recognised something about this picture.

“Yeah, you should ask him to show you” Pierre didn’t entirely understand all the questioning about a simple drawing of him. It wasn’t like they hadn’t seen artwork of themselves done by fans before? They’d seen shoes, paintings, bookmarks, drawings, illustrations, so many TikTok’s and honestly, they’d seen so many stories written about them. Fanfic? Yeah, he thinks it was called fanfic.

God, all the smut. They’d all read some type of smut about themselves, and honestly, the fans were probably being a little bit too generous in some of those stories, but every single one of them would be lying if they said they hadn’t picked up a few tips’ ad tricks from them.  

Maybe they owed a thank you to the fans?

Maybe their partners owed a thank you to the fans.

“I feel like I recognise this handwriting?” Charles thought out loud.

“How the fuck do you recognise someone else’s handwriting?” Pierre doesn’t think he could do that even if he saw the same handwriting every single day for an entire year.

“How can you not mate?” Charles shot back in defence.

“Don’t act like I’m the weirdo here” Pierre began getting up to head out of his room now that he was all packed up and ready to go, Charles following suit, “bring the drawing with you, it’s going in my house” Pierre instructed before Charles could place the drawing back.

“Oh did you also get one of those drawings?” Lando asked as he walked up to Pierre and Charles in the paddock, walking to the Ferrari motorhome so Charles could get you so you could get back to the hotel for the night.

“No, this is Pierre’s” Charles held up the images to show the drawing of the French driver.

“Shit, how do they do it? Its so realistic” Lando took a closer look at the image, admiring the work that had gone into it.

“You got one too?” Charles inquired, curious as to how many drivers had received them now.

“Yeah, at the last grand prix”

“At the last one? Shit, how many races is this fan going to?” Pierre knew Carlos had gotten one at the grand prix before that, so they were clearly following F1 around the world with them.

“Yeah, your one would make you like the 7th driver to get one, it’s insane how like, personal they look, but in a good way” Lando informed the other two.

“Honest” Pierre and Lando nodded in agreement.

“My love” you greeted your boyfriend, walking up to the group of men after you’d grabbed your stuff to go, greeting the other two drivers too, “what’s with all confused faces?”

“oh no, just some fan has been like, leaving the most ridiculously good drawings of the drivers around, got these little quotes on the back and everything” Pierre filled you in, “no idea how it is though”

“I kind of wish I did know, I’d like to say thank you, it must have taken some decent effort” Lando really wish he did know, believing art should be credited.

“I think I’m gonna put it on Instagram, try and see if someone comes forwards, give them proper thanks, you know?” Pierre had decided this was the best thing for him to do considering all this fan had done to capture him looking this happy.

Secretly all the drivers who had received one of the drawings truly loved it, not because some fan was admiring them for being a famous F1 driver, but because they somehow captured them as people. Their entire lives were dedicated to the public persona of the F1 driver, and so to be captured in a rare moment where they could just be who they were, a normal person, was rare, and they were thankful for the small reminder that even if it was just the one person, someone saw them as more, someone saw them truthfully. It somehow reminded them that they were worth something beyond the driving.

How a drawing could do that would always escape them, but they glad it could, and they were glad they could witness it.

Pierre had since shown you the image as you were walking towards to parking lot, “I mean, there’s definitely room for improvement” you muttered as you inspected the image you had secretly drawn during lunch of your friend.

“Babe, listen, you are one of the smartest women I know, but you clearly know nothing about art if you don’t think this drawing is good” Charles laughed, opening the door for you to climb into the car.

You just rolled your eyes in return, holding your handbag that contained your sketchbook just slightly tighter.

A month had gone past and still no one had found out who the fan was, but Daniel had also received a drawing at the last grand prix and Charles was wondering if this mystery fan just didn’t like him. All of the drivers in his little friend group had received one, yet he still had nothing.

Shit, was he a jealous over a drawing?

He’d sat pouting at lunch, he knew he shouldn’t care if someone didn’t like him and he knows he was acting like a child not getting a toy, but still, he wanted to see how someone else viewed him too, he wanted to be seen as just a normally person through someone else’s eye too.

He just wanted a drawing of him as well.

He wanted to be seen.

“What’s your girlfriend always writing in that little book of hers there mate?” Pierre asked, watching you lying on the grass a little distance away.

“I have no idea, she keeps that book hidden from everyone” Charles glanced over to where you were, a soft smile on his face.

You looked so happy lying in the sun, engrossed in whatever you were doing in that book you brought with you everywhere. God he was so lucky to have you. If he could sit and watch you like this for the rest of his life he’d consider his life the perfect one, never changing a thing about it.

“I’m going to go look” Pierre had mischief in his eye and Charles knew that there was no stopping him now. He also knew you wouldn’t have an issue with it, considering how close you and Pierre were.

Honestly, you were close to all the drivers, and he was beyond thankful for it. Then again, it was like that with most of the people you met. There was just something about you that drew people in, and he would know about that better than anyone.

Charles watched as Pierre snuck up to you, anticipating the fright you were bound to get, what he didn’t expect though was Pierre snatching your book and bolting back to him.

He hates that he laughed at the shock on your face, but watching you attempt to jump up and run after Pierre was objectively hysterical.

Pierre made it back to the table with you not far behind, shouting at him to give your book back as you ran after him. Suddenly the book had been chucked onto the table in front of him and Pierre was laughing as he encourage Charles top open it and see what was in it, holding you back all the while.

Charles opened the book, expecting it to be a journal of sorts, never intending on reading a word, but acting in order to play along with the chaos in front of him.

This he didn’t expect though.

There, on the first page, was him.

It was a drawing of him, smiling, driving the boat, shirtless with a bandana in his hair. He remembered that day, you’d packed a picnic for the two of you and you’d both spent the day on the ocean, laughing, soaking up the sun, just being.

The next page was another drawing of him, sitting at his piano, he could see the crease of a frown etched onto his face and he tried to learn a new piece. He hadn’t told you at the time, but he was learning the piece for you. It was a selfish act though, he just loved how you always curled up on the couch and listened to him play. He was almost certain he’d learnt how to play purely so he could play for you.

He started flipping through the entire sketch book, every single page plastered with images of him, doing the most mundane things. Cooking, drinking a glass of wine, laughing, sleeping, all private moments not even he truly ever saw, but you did, and you captured them all.

“I know they aren’t good, but I was just practicing-“ you began explaining yourself, face red from embarrassment and the impromptu wrestling match with Pierre.

“You” it was all Charles could get out.

You. You were the artist.

And here he was complaining that he hadn’t received a single drawing. You’d filled an entire sketchbook with them.

Pierre had since let you go and walked to stand behind Charles, looking over his shoulder as he flipped through the pages of the book, wanting to see what had his friend so mesmerized.

“Holy shit, did you draw all of these?” Pierre was in disbelief, how had they missed this? They all had their fans searching the internet for the fan that had captured them all so beautifully, yet here you were, right under their noses the entire time.

The blush on your cheeks was the only answer you gave.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Charles couldn’t drag his eyes away from the pages in front of him. His girlfriend did this.

Is this what people meant when they said you were able to fall deeper in love with someone? And here he thought he couldn’t fall any further.

“You see me” Charles all but whispered. He felt a tear forming, unable to shake the feeling of relief that it was his girlfriend who truly, honestly saw him.

“Of course I see you my love. You were always more than the formula one driver to me” You were shocked that he didn’t know this, and you were disappointed that you hadn’t noticed the fear he had been carrying around.

“You see me” he confirmed, finally looking you in the eye.

You leant forward placing a kiss on his forehead, him letting out a shaky breath at your touch. He felt whole. He felt like he belonged. He felt like he was home.

“I love you” you spoke against his skin, leaning back to watch him mouth ‘I love you’ in return.

After a moment of silence, Pierre cut in, “ I know you guys are having a bit of a moment here but is there any possibility of me making a request?” he sheepishly asked.

You laughed, pulling back fully to direct your attention  to Pierre, nodding as you did so.

He immediately dived into a long-winded explanation of the drawing he wanted, “So, I need a drawing of Yuki right-”

Charles didn’t even hear the rest of the description, focusing solely on your smile as you listened to Pierre prattling off about what he wanted you to draw for him, as well as slyly slipping out his phone to capture his favourite drawing so far, one you had copied of a photo of the two of them that Pierre had secretly captured, both of your foreheads touching, remembering the moment vividly, the day you’d agreed to be his.
