How Sondheim and Burnett Got Darren Criss to Provincetown
Provincetown hasnât been compared to The Godfather or Star Wars very often, but those are the examples actor and singer Darren Criss names in acknowledging that his July 21 town hall appearance will be his first visit here.
âProvincetown is like that movie that you havenât seen but you donât want your friends to know you havenât seen, so you donât incur their wrath and ridicule and disbelief,â he says, noting that several of his good pals visit often. âI donât bring up that I havenât been there because my friends will give me crap. I havenât avoided it â Iâve really wanted to go. Finally, the stars aligned quite nicely.â
Maybe the stars had a little help from Carol Burnett.
Host and accompanist John McDaniel, a Grammy and Emmy award-winning musician, says he invited Criss to be part of his summer Broadway series here after Criss performed on 2023âs Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Love + Laughter TV birthday special. McDaniel was the music director.
Crissâs best-known roles are his breakout portrayal of Blaine for five seasons (2010 to 2015) on Glee in a milestone-for-mainstream-TV gay romance with Chris Colferâs Kurt, and his 2018 Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning turn as spree killer Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. (Both roles came thanks to producer and Provincetown part-timer Ryan Murphy.)
In addition to acting and singing â including Gleeâs âTeenage Dreamâ cover that climbed the Billboard charts â Criss is a songwriter. He first won notice for co-writing and starring in 2009âs A Very Potter Musical parody for the Chicago-based StarKid Productions, which he co-founded. Crissâs A Very Darren Crissmas generated national holiday tours.
Shortly after Criss wrote the opening number for the 2022 Tony Awards, his friend Paul Miller, director of the Burnett tribute, asked him to refashion Stephen Sondheimâs âSide by Sideâ from Company into an homage to Burnettâs famous duets with celebrity guest stars.
In what he called âone of the coolest things Iâve ever gotten to be a part of,â Criss performed âBurnettâs Duetsâ for the star-studded birthday-party special with Broadwayâs Sutton Foster. That came after he meticulously dissected Sondheimâs music to fit new lyrics and fine-tuned the arrangement with McDaniel.
âWhen I was doing this,â Criss says, âin my mind, I was going, âWhat would the ghost of Sondheim be OK with?â â
More Broadway music will be on Crissâs mind in Provincetown for what he says will be an unusual program because it likely wonât include original work or him playing guitar or piano; McDaniel will accompany him. Criss prides himself on not performing the same live show twice and plans to include Broadway songs heâs not yet sung in public.
That said, he recognizes fans might want to hear something connected to his own Broadway star turns. Those include â besides the nonmusical American Buffalo in 2022 â How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 2012 and 2015âs Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Plus, earlier this year, Criss starred in off-Broadwayâs Little Shop of Horrors.
In September, heâll originate a Broadway role for the first time, headlining Will Aronson and Hue Parkâs musical Maybe Happy Ending. Criss plays an outdated, retired robot in futuristic Seoul who explores the nature of love with another retired robot (Helen J. Shen). To try to help boost its U.S. profile, Criss is also a producer of the musical, which has been a hit in Korea, China, and Japan. Its Broadway debut will be directed by Michael Arden (2023 Tony Award for Parade, Spring Awakening), a longtime Criss friend who directed the English-language debut in 2020 in Atlanta.
Criss is excited but nervous about the piece; he says itâs intimate and epic at once. âThereâs an excitement about the uniqueness and specialness of this show that Iâve never encountered before,â he says. âSo thatâs either going to crash and burn and blow up in our faces or catch on. I donât know, but the prospect is very thrilling.â
Criss, who is straight, made headlines this spring for comments at a Chicago expo about being âculturally queerâ because of his admiration for the LGBTQ community. âThe things in my life that I have tried to emulate, learn from, and be inspired by are 100 percent queer,â he said then, later adding that âit was in queer communities that Iâve found people that I idolize, that I want to learn something from.â
âThat had to be the slowest news day ever,â Criss says about his comments getting attention â especially because heâs talked many times before about similar things, including how much it meant to be part of Gleeâs Blaine-Kurt relationship story.
Beyond Provincetown and Broadway, in August Crissâs voice will be heard in an unusual spot: on season 10 of Netflixâs Gabbyâs Dollhouse, a childrenâs show, as the new Marty the Party Cat, magical host of the Party Room. Itâs a voice role Criss says was planned long before his two-year-old daughter and seven-week-old son were born to him and his wife.
Marty is described by Netflix as a lovable, âexuberant goofballâ who has a big heart and the ability to laugh at himself.
âHeâs a fun guy,â Criss says. âIâm aspirationally Marty the Party Cat.â

Mephistopheles's Deal - Devilish Hierarchy in the Forgotten Realms
[Spoilers for Astarion's personal quest and also pretty much the entirety of the game.]
So, I have a lot of thoughts about the devils in Baldur's Gate 3. I think in general, Larian has done a pretty solid job of drawing from and referencing the Forgotten Realms lore as it relates to their characters and storylines, but with the devils is where the most has been lost in translation to the broader audience.
There is a big difference in the Forgotten Realms between devils and demons - it's more than just semantics. This is one area where the alignment charts are actually useful - Devils are Lawful Evil, while Demons are Chaotic Evil. What this means in practice, is that devils are evil, yes, but they are also intensely bureaucratic and bound by specific laws, structures, and hierarchies. Demons are the exact opposite, misshapen monstrosities (for the most part) that do not belong in the world and are driven to lash out at it for its existence alone.
The "Blood War" that Karlach and a few other characters mention in Avernus? That is devils vs. demons. In fact, devils were originally celestials themselves, that became corrupted in their efforts to stop the tide of demons. The remaining celestials turn a blind eye to the Hells (or actively encourage its existence) because the devils are the forces holding back the encroaching Abyss, a far greater threat than they themselves could ever be.
The major area that we see this hierarchy expressed is in the layers of the Hells, the different dominions. Zariel is the least powerful Archdevil, ruling (and fairly recently come to power, too) the First layer: Avernus. The second-strongest Archdevil, of the Eighth layer, is Mephistopheles, superseded only by Asmodeus, the Archdevil of the Ninth layer.
With regard to the overall power level of the archdevils, this is where the exact answer gets a bit fuzzy. It has varied by edition, and personal take on the lore, but the ultimate point of agreement is this: no matter how powerful you personally think the Archdevils may be, Asmodeus is the exception. He has at least the strength of a greater god (one with a wide and expansive domain crossing multiple worlds), not even including the additional power he would be able to bring to bear by virtue of his domain, were a conflict to take place within it.
Raphael and Mizora, the two "devils" we have the most direct experience with as players, are not true devils at all, but rather cambions: half-devils. This allows them to skip some of the steps of power development usually required for devils to increase their power, but also stratifies them a bit with that development. Their primary advantage is freedom of movement between the planes, granted to them by their mortal parentage.
(The above is just part of the reason why Raphael's "plan" is so laughably doomed to abject failure, but that is a meta for another day.)
On to souls: why do devils need them, how do they get them, and what do they use them for?
Devils have an entire society based on backstabbing, conniving, one-upmanship, and, most importantly: paperwork. The devils - especially the Archdevils - are always looking for ways to get one up on each other. Not even necessarily to take their positions (although if it so happens to work out that way, all the better), but just to have information, leverage, even one point of superiority over them, etc.
One of the primary ways devils can bolster their power levels is based on the number (and quality) of souls under their command. Those souls, when willingly signed away, do not go to the usual Fugue Plane upon death, to be taken by whatever god values them most highly to their own afterlife. Instead, they go directly to the Hells. There they begin the standard progression of lowest-ranked devils: tortured to wring out what magical energy can be gleaned from them, then starting as lemures on the lowest rungs of the hierarchy, contributing to the infernal economy and adding to their ruling Archdevil's power, ranks, and influence.
Unwilling souls can be used, but they are generally considered to be the lowest quality, used mostly for things like soul coins, etc.
Note: this is where this is going from primarily lore-backed meta to meta I am extrapolating onto a bit, based on what seems logical to me.
If souls can only be willingly signed away, why can Cazador pay for his contract with Mephistopheles by trading the souls of others? Based on the legalistic evil of devils, my take is that, by the properties of magic and vampirism in the Forgotten Realms, "legally" speaking, the spawn he creates are enough a part of him that he is able to speak for their souls in their stead.
Based on this property, and the aforementioned power scale of the devils, the thought arises: does it really make that much sense for the Dark Urge to just be able to waltz into the Eighth layer of the Hells and steal the Crown of Karsus? It would make much more sense if it was willingly given - or at the least, allowed to be taken - by Mephisto, who stood to gain something much better than a bauble of not much use to archdevils: souls, and a multitude of them.
If Cazador is able to sign away the souls of his spawn, due to them being magically recognized as a part of him, I believe the same would be true for mindflayers turned by the controlled Netherbrain. The goal of the Dead Three was to ultimately transform an untold number of denizens of the Forgotten Realms, to take their souls and the power from their worship away from the gods (they never claimed to be brilliant strategists, we'll leave it at that). Mephisto, then, would stand to gain a great deal in being able to make use of those souls himself.
I do think that rather than a heist, Durge and/or Gortash made a deal with Mephisto for the Crown in exchange for the souls of any transformed mindflayers. A win-win for both parties, by all accounts.
Shame about the unforeseen brain damage and/or ragtag team of meddling do-gooders - and their owlbear, too.

Update!
UPDATE: We didn't know about the "Ask" feature... Sorry.
Hello, it has been a while since the last update, and we got informed by a community member about the "Ask" feature on Tumblr (This is why Discord is great XD). We are so sorry that we have not replied to you and will be responding to our inbox after this post. The original poster for this account disappeared and I, a total Tumblr noob, took over '>.>. An anonymous user asked us for an update, so here we are! Now that we know of the feature, feel free to send us Tumblr Asks. Know that checking the Tumblr Asks may be slower than Discord messages, but we will check every Saturday.
STORY: Making the script more canon.
Previously, we mentioned the story was finished, but since then, a lot has developed. Due to parts of the story being set in 2005, before the release of Club Penguin, we had to try to infer and speculate on what the world would have been like before 2005. With the growth of this community, we have met others who have more knowledge and research areas on these topics. This has allowed us to develop our understanding of what the past would have been like, which we believe will create a better overall experience for the players. We have been researching the Penguin Chats (Specifically Penguin Chat 3), the Beta Testing of Club Penguin, The Beta Test party and the following years of Club Penguins development up to 2012, to see which features still align with the current script and which do not. Early on, we discovered the present/futures and methods the characters used to time travel were inaccurate. They had plot holes against Herbert's actions at the time, the Time Trekker and Time Machine 3000 existing, and the newspapers would have reflected our mission. These are major aspects of the story, but as of writing this, those changes have been ironed out and finalised (unless another plot hole arises... there have been so many '._.).
In trying to make the script canon, we are facing an issue. The team is split on whether to base the past on the date of Penguin Chat 3 or Club Penguin Beta. Unfortunately, they both change aspects of the script, and both include and remove fun features/areas. To make the choice easier, we are compiling a chart of all the changes to see which is less impactful. In addition, there are major intertwined elements of the script that we cannot change to fit the canon of Club Penguin, as it would mean making a whole new story. We apologise that it may not be fully accurate and hope you all can still enjoy the experience we are putting a lot of effort into.
CHARACTER CARDS: Shuffling the deck around.
As the script is changing again, the team is worried about how to proceed with the character cards. We did not want to stop releasing them as it would leave the community with nothing to get excited about and could give the impression that the project is on hold. We also didn't want to come back later when the script was done and re-release them as an updated version... again. Like the 4-year-old ones, they could have spoilers, feel repetitive, and/or confuse the community on who the characters actually are. Therefore, to get them still releasing weekly and be their final versions, we have rearranged their release dates to be characters that were not greatly impacted by the changes. Luckily, our spin-off future, the EBF timeline, has little connection with the main canon and can be released as intended. Delays may happen later on when we run out of finished cards, and we hope, if that happens, you can be patient with us. (We may poll the community later if you would like the art to be released and then the descriptions later or if you can wait for a full release. This poll would be on Discord only.)
PROGRAMMING: Unfortunate progress...
The Character Cards were originally intended to be a backlog of content for the community, which would give the team time to make progress on the game side of things. Sadly, not much progress has been made, and communication has been suboptimal. We are currently trying to recruit volunteer programmers to help the project so that we may still have development by the end of the character cards.
Originally, the game was going to be made in Ren'Py, but our coders believed the features and interactivity we were requesting were too demanding of Ren'Py. Therefore, we want to switch game engine to either Unreal Engine, Unity or Godot. They all have pros and cons, which is why in the volunteer form, we allow for participants to select which engine they prefer. The final decision will be made once we have our volunteers. We understand that Unreal has a public connotation as being bad for 2D games, but this isn't fully accurate, and there are reasons why we are still thinking of it as a contender. The main one is that it is our only backup if we find no coders.
In converting the script to a Ren'Py-friendly format, the writers started to improve, add and concept features for the game. This means more free-roam sections, more inventory uses and a cool chapter selection screen. (This feature made us restructure the chapters, but it should now help the flow of the game.)
ART: Art Bible!
Ymuy has finished the Character Card art and is currently composing art assets for an art bible. For those who don't know, an art bible is a collection of references, mood boards, tools, guidelines, and rules, all created to support the workflow of the art team. It helps create consistent art assets as well as refine what characters, environments, and UI will look like in the game. This does mean art bibles can take a lot of time, but they can be worked on during game development. Currently, Ymuy has composed 3D turnarounds for the penguins, Herbert and the puffles (specifically Clover). (This can be seen in Discord and hopefully in the comments of this post). Some aspects of the art bible cannot be shown to the public due to spoilers.
MANAGEMENT: Stretched Thin
We have tried to create roadmaps, checklists and level blueprints with multiple software, but the ones we used blocked us with free account limits and forced us to move to alternatives. We hope this new alternative (which is currently very promising) will suffice. With the new changes to the script and character cards, our small team is stretched too thin to be refining the management side of the project. This will impact us when the team gets larger or when the game production picks up, but as of right now, it's not a priority.
COMMUNITY: Suggestions wanted.
The team is unsure of how we should be interacting with the community. We have had community polls and some decryption tasks (on Discord only), but we are unsure of how entertaining these were. In addition, some aspects of the game that we wanted to leave for community opinion were solidified due to continuity and gameplay reasons. For example, we wanted a community war of team "propeller hat" vs team "ninja plush". The gameâs overall collectible would have been based on whichever team won. Sadly, this was decided beforehand in favour of the ninja plush as ninjas existed back in Penguin Chat 3, but propeller hats didn't exist until 2006. In addition, ninja plushies offer better hiding places due to their lack of colour and capability to become transparent if needed. This is upsetting as we wanted to generate a splatfest-like divide in the community, which could have generated some fun activities for you all while you wait. This idea could still be possible, but we will need to brainstorm further.
That is why we need your suggestions on ways we can engage with you. Whether these be Tumblr suggestions or Discord suggestions. What fun ways can you think of that could help us expand this AU?
Due to a community member's fan creation, we will be releasing a Character Card template for fan creations! It will be a different colour from the ones we use, and we ask that if you do shift the hue of it that you please avoid red, green and blue to not confuse the community. We also ask you not to impersonate us. Please give credit to Ymuy and the original Club Penguin team for their UI designs (when prompted - basically don't claim you made the card template). Thank you. We look forward to your cool card creations!
The community has been growing daily, and we appreciate all of you following us. Thank you for reading this update, though it is quite long. >.> We hope to supply you with more cool stuff in the future!

Me vs the bookmark alignment chart:

Lawful Good:
For a start, if books all came with ribbons, weâd be using ribbons. Ribbons create lawful good. Theyâre a form of free will removal. Thus, Iâd argue that ribbons are evil.
If I ever publish a book I am going to lobby for there to be ribbons in the hardback version (because you just canât get them in paperback). Not because I want everyone to be lawful good, but because ribbons are elegant. And practical. Evil geniuses would have books with ribbons.
But hardbacks themselves are impractical. One day I shall write a treatise about the death of morality being caused by the fall in popularity of the hardback book.
Neutral Good:
I have never met anyone who uses a sentence pointer. I have never even seen a sentence pointer. And I used to be an English teacher. If you seek out one of these I would argue that you are not neutral about it. You are passionately engaged.
Chaotic Good:
This seem accurate. Most people are chaotic these days. Who has time to be so organised you remember to bring your bookmark with you in case you find a book you like? Scraps and ephemera from your life being recycled in this way is certainly good, definitely chaotic. Deeply personal.
I used to be like this but then I stopped going out and started shopping online and now my child steals my receipts, which are always from the library, to draw on. Insert pithy quote about the downfall of society here.
Lawful Neutral:
Having some books as only ebooks is totally fine, though personally it does incur in me a panic that I have not held said book physically in my hands or have it physically manifested on a shelf for me to look at. That said, my E-reader is on a bookshelf, like a proper book.
Iâm not neutral about this.
True Neutral:
A proper bookmark. Good grief.
I have tried this. When I was younger, I had a collection of beautiful bookmarks, some practical, some completely impractical, covered in beads and nonsense like they were designed by people who had never seen how a book works.
To own bookmarks is to be a slave to bookmarks.
I occasionally find my old bookmarks when emptying boxes I havenât opened since a house move, or in a shelved book I canât remember reading. I would love to be a âbookmark personâ but I think you need to actually be a bit of a psychopath to make it work.
Chaotic Neutral:
Listen, this is just the outdoorsy version of Chaotic Good. Itâs whatever you have to hand, and if thatâs a leaf then I envy you. These people are living the dream.
Lawful Evil:
Iâve started doing this. I can tell you right now that, as a person with Dyscalculia, this is the most actively Chaotic thing Iâve ever chosen to do. If Evil is choosing to do something that hurts another, then I am being evil, to myself.
Neutral Evil:
This is my default. My desk is awash with books open, pages down, spines cracked, piled on top of eachother like theyâre trying to keep warm.
Chaotic Evil:
Behold. This is where I occasionally end up, if I donât have a desk to lay my book face-down on, or the page number is even (because I wonât remember it), or I have to put the book in a bag for some reason (the reason being I always have to put a book in my bag.)
Like writing in a book in pen, I understand that this is only as a last resort. Chaos indeed. But, Iâll always do it lightly and unbend it again later, so itâs as if it never happened. Isnât that Good?
Iâve gone from True Neutral to Chaotic Good to Chaotic Evil. Or, Bookseller, English Teacher, Classics Teacher. An origin story, in Bookmarks.
Finally, there needs to be a new addition, because I need to know where this one goes:

The Sun
Scroll down for interpretations of the Sun through the signs.
Symbol: â
Natural House: 5th House
Domicile: Leo
Exalts: Aries
Detriment: Aquarius
Fall: Libra
Retrograde: The Sun never retrogrades.
Cycle: The Sun spends approximately one month in each zodiac sign.
Keywords: Inner self, will, energy, vitality, creativity, identity, spotlight
Favorable Placements
Leo: The Sun is in its domicile here, as it rules Leo. Leo Suns are known for having the strongest egos of the zodiac. While this may be true, it stems from the harmony between the Sun and the sign it rules. They are confident and self-assured, aware of their desires and worth, and unafraid to express it to anyone.
Aries: The Sun is exalted in Aries, which provides an additional boost of confidence and energy to an already bold and dynamic sign. Individuals with their Sun in Aries are highly independent and self-reliant due to the Sunâs exaltation. They thrive in leadership roles, as the Sun endows them with the ability to express themselves naturally and command attention.
1st House: Both the Sun and the 1st house represent identity. Individuals with their Sun in the 1st house possess a strong sense of self and rarely seek external validation for their ideas, values, and goals. They are deeply in tune with their inner motivations, which makes them ambitious and driven.
5th House: The 5th house is associated with Leo, where the Sun is in its domicile. Both the Sun and the 5th house symbolize âThe Stageââthe arena where self-expression shines. This house also governs creativity and being in the spotlight. Individuals with their Sun in the 5th house easily express themselves creatively and attract attention. This placement is often associated with joyful, optimistic, and exceptionally talented personalities.
9th House: The 9th house, governed by Jupiter, represents good fortune, abundance, optimism, and the pursuit of truth. The Sunâs placement here illuminates these areas. Individuals with their Sun in the 9th house are often naturally lucky, motivated to explore through travel or philosophy, and inclined to joyful optimism. They uphold strong principles and values.
Challenging Placements
Aquarius: The Sun is in detriment in Aquarius, often creating challenges with self-identity and expression. Aquarius seeks to balance being an independent, original leader with being part of a community. This duality can lead to frustration and feelings of being misunderstood. While Aquarius Suns crave the spotlight, they lack the natural ability to attain it as effortlessly as their Leo counterparts.
Libra: The Sun is in fall in Libra, which diminishes its assertiveness and confidence. Libra Suns tend to focus more on others than on themselves. They prioritize harmony and compromise over pursuing their personal needs and goals. This can manifest as indecisiveness or people-pleasing tendencies. They may avoid conflict and struggle to assert their opinions.
7th House: The 7th house represents partnerships, which contrasts with the Sunâs focus on the self. Individuals with their Sun in the 7th house often seek validation from others for their goals, ideas, and values. They may struggle to find happiness or identity without external approval and can have difficulty being alone.
12th House: The Sunâs nature conflicts with the 12th house, which represents the hidden and unclear. Individuals with their Sun in the 12th house may feel overlooked, invisible, or isolated. They can be shy and hesitant to express their ideas, often feeling that their contributions go unnoticed.
Core and True Self
The same way that the Sun lies at the center of our solar system, it lies in the center of our birth chart and symbolizes our true self. It represents our inner drive, motivations, and identity. To achieve true happiness, we must align with the energy of our Sun. Acting in harmony with our Sun feels natural, but this alignment often takes years to master due to the influence of other placements and aspects in the natal chart.
Ego and Confidence
The Sunâs placement influences how we handle ego and confidence, shaping how we express our likes, dislikes, values, and opinions. A well-positioned Sun fosters a strong and healthy self-image, helping individuals grow into their truest selves.
Vitality, Energy, Creativity
The Sun, as the life-giving force of our solar system, symbolizes vitality, energy, and creative self-expression.
Fire signs, especially Leo and Aries, are known for robust health and high energy. Conversely, Libra and Aquarius may struggle in these areas due to the Sunâs less favorable positioning. However, other chart factors, such as the 6th house, Virgo, and Mars placements, also play a significant role.
The Sun inspires creative self-expression. Individuals with fire Sun signs, a Sun in the 5th house, or Leo in their Big Three are often gifted creatively.
Fulfillment and Happiness
The Sun highlights the areas of life that bring joy and purpose. For example, someone with their Sun in the 4th house feels happiest around family, while someone with their Sun in the 11th house thrives among friends.
The Active (Masculine) Principle, Father, and Husband
The Sun represents the active (masculine) principle of doing, asserting, and competing. In contrast, the Moon reflects the passive (feminine) principle of being, feeling, and nurturing.
Father: The Sun symbolizes the father in a natal chart. Its placement and aspects reveal insights into oneâs relationship with paternal figures.
Husband: The Sun can also represent a husband, especially in combination with Jupiter and the 7th house.
Authority Figures: When analyzed alongside Saturn, the Sunâs position offers clues about relationships with authority figures, such as bosses.
Interpreting the Sun
While no one is entirely defined by their Sun sign, it is arguably the most significant placement in a chart, as it represents our core identity. However, the way the Sunâs energy is expressed depends on its sign and house placement:
Sign: Reflects how one expresses themselves.
House: Indicates the life areas where this energy is focused and what matters most.
For instance, a Gemini Sun will always be talkative. When placed in the 5th or 10th house, it will be outgoing, confident, and eager for public attention. On the other hand, a Gemini Sun in the 8th house will prefer deeper, more private conversations with close confidants.
Other factors, such as the 5th house, Leo placements, and the entire natal chart, support or challenge the Sunâs full expression. Most individuals identify more with their Ascendant in early life, as it acts as the "mask" they show to the world. The Sunâs qualities often emerge fully after the first Saturn return, typically around the age of 30. Exceptions are those whose Sun and Ascendant are closely aligned or in the same sign, where outward expression mirrors their inner self.
The Sun in the Signs
Sun in Aries
Sun in Taurus
Sun in Gemini
Sun in Cancer
Sun in Leo
Sun in Virgo
Sun in Libra
Sun in Scorpio
Sun in Sagittarius
Sun in Capricorn
Sun in Aquarius
Sun in Pisces

How Sondheim and Burnett Got Darren Criss to Provincetown
The songwriter and star of Glee makes his local debut in Broadway-centric concert
By Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll Jul 17, 2024

This is the start of a Reference thread for Starseeds. Information from LL threads will be collated here. (especially from IQ.)
To begin with, here is something from the Lyran Ring Nebula M57 thread:
There is a celestial object known as the Starseed Ring Nebula (aka M57 or Messier 57) in the constellation Lyra which has special significance for all Starseeds and Cosmic Wanderers. It is located at 20 degrees Capricorn between the Lyran fixed stars Sheliak and Sulaphat.
The reason why this beautiful nebula is so special is because it is the physical remnants of a super nova explosion of the Lyran homeland which, in galactic myth, was the original location of all humanoid races before it was destroyed by the Draco's, thus triggering the diaspora to new planets such as those civilizations located in the Pleiades, Andromeda, Casseopia, Sirius amongst many others.
Thus, strong contacts with the Ring Nebula literally points to the birthplace of humanoid star origins. This is the place from which many streams of consciousness, rays of extraterrestrial starseed races, began their evolutionary journey.
If you have a strong aspect with Sun, Moon, a personal planet, Sun/Moon midpoint, an Angle or a Node with the Lyran Ring Nebula M57 as well as strong aspects to one of the Royal Stars (Regulus, Alderbaran, Formalhaut, Antares) and the Great Attractor, I believe this is proof of a humanoid starseed identity.
For example : Sun conjunct/opposite M57 :Your essence and sense of personal power is strongly identified with your star origin.
Moon conjunct/opposite M57 : instinctual understanding/ subliminal memories of your extraterrestial origins.
South Node conjunct M57 : A highly evolved starseed/ cosmic wanderer who brings to this incarnation past life memories, knowledge and understanding of star origins which underpin current life purpose and direction.
North Node conjunct M57 : Aspiring towards an understanding of star origins being prominent in shaping life purpose/direction.
Prominent alignments with the Lyran Ring Nebula can also indicate involvement with the music of the spheres - the use of natural astronomically and resonant harmonics for healing, illumination, and for greater evolutionary purpose. You might find, for example that a person with South Node conjunct M57 brings to this incarnation a natural aptitude in this area, based on past life extra-terrestrial experience. Similarly, strong contacts are often found in the charts of musicians, artists and those involved with arts and sciences where the intention is to use harmonics of light, sound, and geometry for the expansion of consciousness. In addition, these individuals may be gifted in understanding the relationship between geometry and time--all working intelligently together. Forty octaves up from our middle musical scale lies the spectrum of visible color--light-sound musical harmonics originate from the mathematical unfoldment of time in geometric proportion. M57 inspires multi-spectral creative expression--a multiplicity of opportunity for fulfillment when individuality is creatively amalgamated into a greater expression than one could achieve alone. M57 also holds the memory pattern that unifies our diversity--reminding us that all rays of color and creed ultimately comprise and fulfill the unbounded expression of One Unified Creative Intelligence.
Use tight orbs - for Nodes, angles and luminaries - less than 1.5 or maybe 2 degrees; for other personal planets less than 1 degree.
Also important in the constellation Lyra are the fixed stars Sheliak at 18 Capricorn 53 and Sulaphat at 21 Capricorn 55. These are known as the points or horns of the Tortoise Lyre, which is the structure that carries the resonant strings of the harp which is the the Ring Nebula itself. Although important alignments with these points are not in themselves starseed indicators, they do carry their own Lyran symbolism. Sheliak embodies the wisdom of light/sound harmonics. Physically, this extremely fast rotating binary star radiates a remarkable and spectacular optical show of brilliantly changing color. Sulaphat on the other hand embodies geometric resonance in form and the ancient wisdom of the Turtle.
The other important star in Lyra is the alpha fixed star Vega at 15 Capricorn 19 - this points to where the re-unifying harmonic spectra of the Elohim (the shining ones) culminate--a new home for some upon completion of their galactic missions. Vega is stargate to Mansion Universes of Light--and represents the fulfillment and radiance of starseed missions completed. If strongly aspected along with other Royal Star contacts, this could indicate a lineline in which the influence of the Elohim is strong, along with aspirations to use this to complete the mission assigned to this incarnation. With a South Node contact to Vega, the individual may even be a fully ascended and conscious Elohim starseed master on an earth mission, assuming that there there are also strong alignments with the Great Attractor, Royal Stars and the M57.
A word on the Great Attractor - this is the most powerful point in the Universe, so powerful that it makes the Galactic Centre look miniscule. It is at 14 Sagittarius. While the Galactic Centre is the "sun of our sun", the central rotating point of the Milky Way ... the Great Attractor is a supercluster of 100,000 galaxies 250 million light years from our solar system. It is the grand central sun of a much larger group of galaxies- and it is a point that we are all being pulled towards (we are literally hurling in that direction at insane speeds). In astrology the great attractor represents the key to the mystery of the Universe. it's a very intense point that has mystical and metaphysical properties.
As such, the Great Attractor should feature strongly - preferably a tightly orbed conjunction or opposition with personal planets, angles, nodes or sun/moon midpoint in all Starseed charts where there is awakening as it points to divine harmony and the fulfulment of our spiritual destiny.

A Mini Gobbi's Lesson! An Outline of Karya's Geological Timeline
Good morning to you all! Usually I'd make a "Gobbi's Lesson" post with a slideshow format, however I figured today we'd try something new*.
In two previous Gobbi's Lessons, the mysterious Gobbâola Mawwik (aka âGobbi the Loremasterâ) introduced you to the concept that Karya's formation and majority of prehistory in terms of the evolution of life aligns essentially on par with Earth's, despite differences in tectonics. It isn't until the end stages of what's referred to as the Neosecundian era, with the advent of complex, multicellular life, that things begin to diverge, with initially minor differences. These differences begin to build up over time, and, in the end, result in present-day Karya having a rather different vibe than present-day Earth.
Today's post seeks to further explain Karya's overall geological timeline, and the portions of it that Project KARYA and future endeavors will focus more on. I hope you enjoy!
Sincerely,
A Goblin with a Problem
*((also it's not really new lol, I just dug up a previous post I made on r/worldbuilding and figured you guys would appreciate the additional information!))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gobb'ola leans back from Karyic Prehistory; or, Tracing Our Planet from Nothing to the End of the Age of Reclamation, taking in your mixed look of confusion and awe with mild amusement. They give you a moment to process the latest chapter, taking the time to get up and shuffle over to the fireplace, feeding and stoking the flames within. "Can't let it get too chilly in here; the Sea would get us both real quick," you hear them mutter on their way back to their armchair. While they're up, you take the time to take a look at the current chart displayed. It flows one way and the other, and you can see that there is writing in several illustrated blocks; their meanings, however, elude you. Gobbi notices you having troubles, and realizes that these languages are completely foreign to you. They gesture insistently for you to bend down towards them.
As you acquiesce, they reach into a small pocket at their side and pull out a vial of what seems to be blue paint. Dipping a thin nail into the fluid, they then trace their fingertip in an elaborate series of patterns around your eyes. When their hand pulls away, you blink several times, and notice that the multitude of book titles on Gobbi's grandiose shelves are beginning to blur and warp. You look back at the chart, and see that the writing on the page is beginning to do the same, before clearing up - and you find yourself finally able to read what's there.
"There", Gobbi concludes with a smile, "hopefully that temporary tahtspol will help you see things with newer meaning. Based on your current expression, I'd say that it's working for you? Excellent! I was worried, for a moment there, that you being from a different universe may impact how anomalous elements work on you. But ah, no worries about that!" Giddy at being able to have you read along with them, they bring their armchair around towards your own, and you both sit down to begin viewing the chart together.
EONS
"The largest division of time as laid out by m- I mean, by one of the largest scientific bodies on Karya, the Trandelian Society for Greater Scholars. Four exist before the present-day Fractudiean eon: the Rodadiean was the most geologically tumultuous, and was followed by the comparatively uneventful and longer Primadiean and Secundiean eons. However, the penultimate Tertidiean - the shortest of them all, not including the currently ongoing Fractudiean - is where activity on Karya really begins to kick off!"
ERAS
In the margins, you see creatures that you are almost certain you've seen from various paleontology magazines from your childhood and the odd documentary that pops up every now and then on the television. You begin to excitedly point them out, saying some by name even; others begin to confuse you though, as they seem related yet completely unfamiliar. You notice, though, that Gobbi themself seems even more confused by you than you have been by them thus far. "What? That's not what those are called! Wait, does that mean...you have these creatures on Earth too?? Huh, what's that? Not all of them? Strange..."
Gobbi skips ahead many pages, and begins pointing to random animals, both "prehistoric" or "modern" as considered by the little polymath, while asking which ones are more or less familiar to you. "Strange. It seems that, for some reason, our two worlds developed quite similarly to each other starting in the Paleotertidiean era; but it begins diverging wildly afterwards. I guess I'll begin calling them the Homozoic, Hemizoic, and Allozoic eras, then, to represent how different our life is to yours! Eras are the next largest division of time in Karya's geological history, with these three being of greatest importance to us in terms of modern history.
PERIODS
"Life did begin as single-celled organisms sometime in the late Rodadiean or early Primadiean eon. It only really began getting especially exciting at the beginning of the Omorian period with the Great Omorian Biota Bloom. Periods become most relevant to us starting in the Homozoic era, as that's when we begin to see specific kinds of rock forming in distinct layers all along Karya's crust. Often, these layers have multitudes of identifiable, fossilized species of animals that only live in specific regions of the rock; these serve as great identifiers to dating the rock.
AGES
"There are technically one more step below periods, the epochs; however, its ages that are the most relevant to the common person on present-day Karya. While it is recognized that a potential 'fifth age' occurred some time in the distant pass, scant archeological information has been found for it and what interviews have been conducted have considered unreliable. As such, we start just after the cataclysmic Restructuring, which is considered Year 0 and every year after that is labeled '[X] AR' - 'After Restructuring'. Within any age, one can also label a year as 'Year [X] of the [Y] Age', where [X] is how many years it's been since the starting day of that particular age. In some instances for Year 0 of any age, one may instead use 'Day [Z] of the [Y] age', where
The Age of Reclamation is the longest, lasting from 0 AR to 15,000 AR. This time saw great dispersal of the cultures that survived the Restructuring, and by the end of the age there had emerged the dominant language families on Karya.
The First Age (15,000 AR - 18,540 AR; 3540 years) was a time of great civilization formation, and is often called the "Age of the Heroes" for the wide variety of adventurers being sent out on noble quests.
The Second Age (18,540 AR - 21,200 AR; 2660 years) saw many former empires and nationalities fracturing, shrinking, or disappearing altogether; it became the infamous "Age of Monsters" for the unique horrors unleashed at its very ushering.
The Third Age (21,200 - 25,000 AR; 3800 years) was the most technologically accelerated, as well as one that saw many faces from ancient times coming back to the world. This "Age of God and Machine" would be the last one with any more geological progress to record, before the Shattering halted future development and ushered in the Fourth Age, the start of the Eoazoic period, of the Azoic era, of the Fractudiean eon."
Each day on Karya lasts a total of 26 hours, each of which lasts sixty minutes, of which each possesses an equal number of seconds; one Karyic year lasts a little more than four hundred and thirty-three Karyic days. Ever since the Year 400 of the Third Age, the majority of nations on Karya have adopted the Trandelian Calendar as a means of tracking dates throughout history. With it, the Karyic year is divided into ten months, named after various ailden (sng. aldah, "Beings of Civilization"); each month has anywhere between forty-two and forty-five days. Due to the total time needed for Karya to complete one revolution around its twin stars being not a whole number of days, a leap year is taken into account every three years, in which the last month of Yntha has forty-three instead of forty-two days.
Kornathoi; global Dates of Observance are the Winter Solstice / the Karyic New Year (1st), the Owanin Meteor Shower (19th), and the appearance of Towa's Comet (24th).
Pravitha; global Dates of Observance are the Calossian Trail Illumination (1st) and the Southern Aurora Burst (37th - 40th)
Matha; the only global Date of Observance is the Karyic Vernal Equinox (22nd)
Tolethoi; global Dates of Observance are the appearances of Cheiwa's Comet (13th) and Fara's Comet (41st)
Vasitha; the only universal observance during this time is the Karyic Summer Solstice
Guldrithoi; global Dates of Observance are the appearances of Orok's Comet and Oloth's Comet.
Olithoi; global Dates of Observance are the Dimming of Damothi (4th), the Brightening of Damothi (26th), and the Northern Aurora Burst (27th - 29th).
Umartha; the only global Date of Observance is the Karyic Autumnal Equinox (25th).
Orathoi; global Dates of Observance are the Harmonin, Farrilon, and Sentan Meteor Showers (3rd, 14th, and 25th, respectively).
Yntha; global Dates of Observance are the appearance of Hozja's Comet (7th) and the Intersection (42nd/43rd).
Expand Your Reach: How Independent Artists Can Release Their Remixes Everywhere
As an independent artist, releasing your remix on all streaming platforms is a powerful way to connect with a global audience. The digital era has eliminated many barriers that once restricted musicians from sharing their art, giving you full control over your music. However, understanding how to navigate the process is crucial for success. In this guide, weâll explore how you can expand your reach, maximize exposure, and ensure your remix resonates with listeners worldwide.
Why Releasing Your Remix Globally Matters
In todayâs music industry, visibility is everything. Streaming platforms have become the epicenter of music discovery, providing independent artists with the opportunity to compete with chart-topping musicians. Hereâs why going global with your remix is so impactful:
1. Reach a Diverse Audience Every streaming platform caters to a unique demographic. Spotify is popular among millennials and Gen Z, while Apple Music appeals to premium users. By releasing your remix across all platforms, youâre tapping into various listener bases worldwide.
2. Build Your Brand Having your remix available everywhere adds credibility to your brand. Fans and potential collaborators will take your music more seriously when they see it listed on platforms like Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music.
3. Maximize Monetization Opportunities Every stream counts. The more platforms your remix is on, the greater your chances of earning royalties and diversifying your revenue streams.
Steps to Release Your Remix on All Streaming Platforms
1. Create a Professional Remix Before you release your remix, itâs essential to ensure itâs professionally produced and mastered. High-quality audio is non-negotiable in the streaming world.
Invest in Professional Mixing and Mastering: A polished track will stand out and keep listeners engaged.
Focus on Originality: Your remix should offer a fresh take that distinguishes it from the original track while reflecting your unique style.
2. Choose the Right Distribution Partner A digital distributor is your gateway to streaming platforms. Some popular options for independent artists include:
Delivermytune: Known for its affordability and simplicity.
TuneCore: Ideal for artists looking to retain full control of their royalties.
CD Baby: A long-standing distributor with extensive reach. Research each distributorâs features, pricing, and platform coverage to find the one that aligns with your goals.
3. Prepare Your Release Assets Before uploading your remix, ensure you have the following ready:
Cover Art: High-resolution artwork that represents your remix visually.
Metadata: Accurate song details, including title, artist name, and credits.
Audio Format: Most platforms require WAV or FLAC files for optimal quality. Double-check everything for accuracy to avoid delays during the distribution process.
4. Promote Your Remix Effectively Once your remix is live, the next step is marketing it to your audience.
Leverage Social Media: Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter are invaluable for creating buzz. Share snippets, behind-the-scenes content, and stories to engage your followers.
Collaborate with Influencers: Partnering with influencers can expand your remixâs reach to new audiences.
Playlist Submissions: Getting your remix featured on playlists can exponentially increase streams. Look for independent curators and submit your track to relevant playlists.
5. Monitor Your Performance After your remix is live, use the analytics tools provided by streaming platforms to track its performance.
Identify Key Metrics: Pay attention to streams, listener demographics, and playlist additions.
Adjust Your Strategy: Use insights to fine-tune your promotional efforts for maximum impact.
Tips for Expanding Your Global Reach
1. Translate and Localize Your Content If youâre targeting international audiences, consider translating your promotional materials and adding subtitles to videos. Platforms like YouTube can help bridge language barriers.
2. Leverage Emerging Markets Streaming services are expanding into regions like Asia, Africa, and Latin America. By focusing on these growing markets, you can tap into millions of potential listeners.
3. Use Music Promotion Platforms Platforms like SubmitHub and Groover can connect you with bloggers, curators, and journalists who specialize in your genre.
Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them
1. Navigating Copyright Issues Releasing a remix often involves dealing with licensing and copyright.
Secure the Rights: Obtain the necessary permissions from the original trackâs copyright holders.
Use Clear Communication: Ensure all agreements are documented to avoid future disputes.
2. Standing Out in a Crowded Market With millions of tracks released daily, making your remix stand out can be difficult.
Develop a Unique Sound: Stay true to your artistic identity.
Engage Directly with Fans: Building a loyal community can help amplify your music organically.
3. Managing Costs While releasing your remix globally is affordable, costs can add up.
Prioritize Essential Services: Focus on quality over quantity in your marketing efforts.
Seek Sponsorships: Partnering with brands can help offset costs while increasing exposure.
Success Stories: Independent Artists Who Made It Big
Many independent artists have achieved incredible success by releasing their music globally. Here are two inspiring examples:
Clairo: Starting as a bedroom artist, Clairo gained worldwide recognition after uploading her music to SoundCloud and YouTube. She now enjoys millions of streams across platforms.
Chance the Rapper: By embracing independence, Chance released his mixtape "Coloring Book" on streaming platforms, earning Grammy recognition without a record label.
Conclusion:
Releasing your remix on all streaming platforms as an independent artist is a game-changer. Itâs not just about making your music availableâitâs about connecting with audiences, building your brand, and creating opportunities for growth. With the right preparation, promotion, and persistence, you can make your remix resonate across the globe.
Choose to download each slide individually. Canva does not currently support exporting presentations as editable slides for Google Slides, so downloading slides as images is the best approach.
Once downloaded, verify that all slides have been saved correctly to your device.
Step 3: Open Google Slides and Create a New Presentation
Visit Google Slides and:
Log in with your Google account credentials.
Either create a new blank presentation by clicking the â+ Blankâ button or open an existing presentation where you want to insert your Canva slides.
This step ensures that you have a workspace ready to import the slides.
Step 4: Import Canva Slides into Google Slides
To add your Canva slides to Google Slides:
Go to the menu bar and click on File > Import Slides.
Choose the Image option to upload your Canva slides.
Navigate to the folder where your Canva slides are saved, select the files, and upload them one by one.
Once uploaded, Google Slides will insert them into your presentation as static images.
If you prefer, you can insert images slide by slide:
Go to Insert > Image > Upload from Computer and select the desired slide.
Step 5: Adjust and Optimize Slides in Google Slides
After importing the slides, some adjustments may be necessary:
Resize Images: Ensure that each image fits perfectly within the slide frame.
Add Text: If your Canva presentation included text, youâll need to manually add text boxes in Google Slides to recreate it.
Enhance Design: Use Google Slidesâ tools to add shapes, animations, or transitions to enhance your presentation further.
Spend some time reviewing each slide to ensure it aligns with your original design vision.
Migration Challenges Of Business Objects (Webi) to Jaspersoft
Migrating from Business Objects (Webi) to Jaspersoft can be a complex process, as each tool has its unique features and functionalities. Understanding these challenges can help in planning a smoother transition. Below, we outline some of the key issues you might encounter during the conversion process and suggest strategies to address them.
Key Hurdles Converting To Jaspersoft from Business Objects
Report Design Differences
Webi offers a highly flexible and intuitive interface for report design, which allows for a wide range of layouts, formatting options, and interactive elements. When transitioning to Jaspersoft, replicating these design features might be challenging. Complex report structures or advanced formatting in Webi may require custom development to achieve a similar look and feel in Jaspersoft. Be prepared to invest time in redesigning and fine-tuning reports to match the original design.
Data Source Connectivity
Webi reports typically rely on Universes or other data abstraction layers to connect to data sources. In Jaspersoft, youâll need to re-create or map these connections to ensure accurate data retrieval. This process involves configuring data sources and ensuring that the data layer logic aligns with what was previously set up in Webi. Properly managing data source connectivity is crucial to maintaining the integrity of your reports.
Functionality Gaps
There are specific features in Webi, such as advanced charts, filters, and input controls, that may not have direct counterparts in Jaspersoft. Addressing these gaps might require developing custom solutions or implementing workarounds. Identifying the features you rely on most and understanding how to achieve similar results in Jaspersoft will be essential for a successful migration.
Scripting and Formulas
Webi reports often use custom formulas and scripting to perform complex calculations and data manipulations. Jaspersoft has its own syntax and capabilities for handling formulas and scripting, which means you may need to reengineer these elements during the migration. Careful translation of these calculations is necessary to ensure that reports continue to deliver accurate results.
Performance Optimization
Performance characteristics between Webi and Jaspersoft can differ significantly. Reports that perform well in Webi may require optimization in Jaspersoft to maintain efficiency. This may involve tuning queries, adjusting report designs, or leveraging Jaspersoftâs performance optimization features to handle large datasets or complex calculations effectively.
Report Interactivity
Webi is known for its interactive features, such as drill-downs, prompts, and dynamic filtering. Recreating these interactive elements in Jaspersoft can be complex, as it may involve additional development or customizations. Ensuring a similar level of interactivity in Jaspersoft is crucial for maintaining user experience and report functionality.
Converting BO Merge Dimensions to Jasper Reports
BusinessObjects (BO) offers a "Merge Dimension" feature, which allows users to combine dimensions from multiple data sources within a Webi report. Jaspersoft lacks a direct equivalent to this feature, so alternative approaches are necessary:
Database-Side Joins :Â One approach is to handle the merging at the database level. This involves writing SQL queries that join tables from different data sources into a single dataset before it reaches Jasper Reports. This method ensures that data is unified prior to report generation.
Database Views :Â If SQL joins are too complex, consider creating database views that encapsulate the necessary joins and calculations. You can then use these views as your data source in Jasper Reports, simplifying the data merging process.
Conclusion
Migrating from Business Objects (Webi) to Jaspersoft involves addressing various challenges related to report design, data connectivity, functionality, scripting, performance, interactivity, and specific features like merge dimensions. By understanding these challenges and preparing for them, you can achieve a smoother transition and ensure that your reports in Jaspersoft meet your needs effectively.
