That's the problem with archeology, doesn't tell the whole story.

Gryffindor: I'm not a relic to be exhumed and studyed.
Ravenclaw: Perhaps you'll be one in a thousand years.
Gryffindor: And what will they discover?
Ravenclaw: That you've got a thick skull but a big heart.
Gryffindor: A himbo, just what I was going for.

Hi! I was wondering - apart from Peaky Blinders, do you know any good, whumpy, gritty shows that are set in that same era or at least have the same aesthetic? Thanks!
Oooh good question. I think I can give you some recs! Try some of these out for that good ole 1920s/1930s aesthetic with a touch of whump ;)
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
Boardwalk Empire
Murder on the Orient Express
Death on the Nile
Parades End
Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar
Agatha and the Truth of Murder (full disclosure i haven't seen this one yet but it's the right era and it's agatha christie so how bad can it be)
Atonement
1923
Gangs of New York
These are Victorian era but got that great gritty whumpy feel to them:
Penny dreadful
Crimson peak
Ripper street

Not sure if you’ve seen anything with Jonah Hauer-King (outside the little mermaid remake). I did a bit of a dive into his past roles and there was some good Whump moments in World on Fire (Amazon prime video) mostly in the first episode. And then Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar the beginning to middle. That one is on Masterpiece Theater. Both of those gave me whumperflies.
Nice! Thank you for the recs :)
