Soo many good tropes here;
- ambushed unbeknownst to caretakers
- left for dead
- worried fatherfigure
- fading in and out of consciousness

Hi!
I consume a bit of h/c fic and noticed this particular process is skipped in fics, so I was hoping you'd help fill these gaps for me with your expertise.
When a dude receives a gash in his scalp that requires stitches (regardless of mechanism of injury, but likely accompanied by a concussion) and is treated in an ED:
Does some of the hair have to be cut/shaved/moved out of the way to be stitched? A lot? A little? If so, like how big of an area around it are we generally talking?
Then does the old blood just stay in the hair? If not, who washes it out and when? How?
Does it get covered by a bandage or left uncovered?
Ok that was a lot of questions after all. I'm sorry, but thanks for listening! You're awesome.
For the first question, it depends on the location and extent of the injury. If it's a fairly straight cut they might be able to get away with not shaving any hair, but if it's jagged or hard to see/access well with the hair in place they might shave or snip the hair about an inch in all directions to get better access to the wound.
They would likely not put a dressing (bandage) on the wound after it was stitched up, but would cover it in petroleum jelly or bacitracin ointment 1-2 times per day.
The old blood stays in the hair until it's washed off. If the patient is capable of doing it themself we would encourage them to do so, and then we'd put the ointment back on after. If the person was unconscious or very confused or something a nurse aide would probably be the one to clean them up.

I stumbled on these two promo images of Buck from 9-1-1 2x18 and I'm just posting them because I enjoy them a lot. Why couldn't the episode look this good. So bright and not full of the red light. Beautiful.

Still at my New Vegas nonsense, this time with traditional. I really enjoy all the different ways you can play. I made my dude Jackie into the most average boring dude who just got yeeted into all of this nonsense due to wanting to do his job right and it's great how I can actually do that.

13 - Tabled for Later
[Previous | Masterpost]
Celine groans as you go limp, making her literally drag you into the room. "You little shit-" she cusses under her breath as she tries to tug you along, but your rain-damp clothes grip the cement, making the task all but impossible.
She drops you, resorting to kicking you hard in the head.
The world spins and sways, flickering muffled for a long, ringing moment.
Then Harrison is above you. Your limps aren't quite listening, flopping lazily against him as he lifts up under your arms, letting Celine grab your legs.
Together, they slap you onto the metal table. It's icy against your skin, water and steel leeching away your warmth. But they're warm.
Their fingers wrap around your wrist and ankle, tugging them toward the leather straps.
