Kaiju n8 : The secret of Hoshina pt.2
pairing: hoshina soshiro x reader
summary: The beggining of the story between Y/N and Hoshina
an: pls be free to warn me about any mistakes in my writing
previous chapter
Years before Mina Ashiro assumed command of the Third Division, the unit thrived under the leadership of Captain Y/N. Known for her tactical brilliance and compassionate leadership, she was a beacon of hope and resilience for her team. Vice-Captain Hoshina Soshiro, a master swordsman and strategic genius, was her right-hand man, his loyalty to Y/N evident in every mission they undertook together.
Their relationship began strictly professional. Y/N admired Hoshina's dedication and his ability to remain calm under pressure, while Hoshina respected her leadership and the way she inspired everyone around her. As they worked together, their bond deepened, forged in the crucible of countless battles and shared hardships.
It was during a particularly harrowing battle with a massive kaiju that their feelings for each other began to surface. The kaiju had attacked a civilian area, and the Third Division was dispatched to neutralize the threat. Y/N and Hoshina led the charge, coordinating their team with precision and bravery. In the heat of battle, they moved in perfect sync, their trust in each other unwavering.
As the battle raged on, Y/N found herself in a precarious situation, surrounded by debris and with the kaiju bearing down on her. Hoshina, sensing her peril, fought his way to her side, his sword slicing through the enemy with lethal efficiency. Together, they managed to bring down the kaiju, but not without sustaining injuries.
In the aftermath, as they caught their breath amidst the ruins, their eyes met. For the first time, they allowed themselves to acknowledge the deeper connection that had been growing between them.
"Soshiro," Y/N said, her voice barely above a whisper, "I don't know what I would have done without you."
Hoshina stepped closer, his usually stoic expression softening. "You never have to find out. I'll always be here for you."
Their relationship blossomed in secret, hidden from the rest of the Division to protect their positions and avoid any potential distractions. They cherished their stolen moments together, finding solace in each other's arms amidst the chaos of their duties.
Months later, Y/N discovered she was pregnant. The news brought a wave of joy and hope for both of them. They began making plans for a future beyond the battlefield, dreaming of a life where they could raise their child in peace, where they eventually organized a very secretive wedding to celebrate their love and become official in the eye of heaven itself, hoping to be blessed with happiness and the health of their baby.
One evening, after a long day of training, they sat together in their secret haven, a small, secluded part of the base garden that few knew about. The stars were bright above them, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers.
"Soshiro," Y/N said, leaning against him, "I've been thinking about names."
Hoshina smiled, wrapping an arm around her. "Oh? Do you have any favorites?"
She nodded, a soft smile playing on her lips. "If it's a boy, I was thinking of Kaito. And if it's a girl, maybe Aiko."
"Kaito and Aiko," Hoshina repeated, the names rolling off his tongue with warmth. "I love them."
Their happiness, however, was short-lived. During a routine patrol, a new and unusually aggressive kaiju attacked. The battle was fierce, and despite their best efforts, Y/N was gravely injured. In the chaos, she lost their baby, a devastating blow that left her physically and emotionally shattered.
Realizing she could no longer continue in her role, Y/N made the painful decision to resign from the Third Division. She needed time to heal, and the memories of what she had lost were too painful to bear in the place where it had all happened.
The night she told Hoshina of her decision was filled with tears and heartbreak. They sat together in their secret garden, the weight of their grief heavy between them.
"Soshiro," Y/N said, her voice trembling, "I can't stay here. Every corner of this place reminds me of what we lost. I need to leave."
Hoshina held her tightly, his own heart breaking. "I understand," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I wish I could come with you, but the Division needs me. Promise me you'll stay safe."
"I promise," she whispered, clinging to him as if trying to imprint his presence into her memory.
Y/N's departure was a quiet affair, known only to a few trusted members of the Division. She left behind a legacy of strength and sacrifice, her absence felt deeply by those who had served under her. Hoshina, in particular, felt the void she left behind, her absence a constant reminder of their shared pain and the future they had lost.
Years passed, and Mina Ashiro took command of the Third Division. Hoshina continued his duties, carrying the weight of his loss in silence. He never forgot Y/N, cherishing the memories of their time together and the love they had shared. He often found himself in the secluded garden, looking up at the stars and remembering the nights they spent dreaming of a brighter future.
Despite the pain, their story was one of resilience and hope. It was a reminder that even in the darkest times, love could endure, giving strength to face the challenges ahead. And though they were apart, the bond between Hoshina and Y/N remained unbroken, a testament to the enduring power of their love.
Every year, on the anniversary of the battle where they lost their child, Hoshina would visit a small memorial he had built in the garden. He would lay a single white flower on the stone and stand in silent remembrance, his heart heavy with both sorrow and gratitude for the time they had shared.
And though being separated by distance only, the memory of their love continued to guide Hoshina, inspiring him to protect those who couldn't protect themselves, just as Y/N had always done. Their love story, was marked by both joy and tragedy, both hoping that their healing would allow them to be together again.

nights like this ⋆ timeskip!iwaizumi x f!reader
part 2 from THISS iwaizumi oneshot !
⋆ synopsis: who knew that an airport crush would ever develop into the. best years of your life. falling in love with iwaizumi was easy and simple, especially with nights like this.
⋆ warnings : tooth rotting fluff, some language and down bad iwaizumi.
a/n: i didnt even realize the traction that pt. 1 recieved. i wrote this purely because of my infatuation with late night drives in the hills of california.
Tumblr media
"here...it's my number." sounded like a distant memory. it had been exactly three years since you met iwaizumi in the hastle of the LAX airport. never in a million years did you think that you would be in this situation, cuddled up in the passenger seat of your glc coupe with the windows down, wind blowing throughout the car. moonlight spilling in through every inch of glass, the led lights illuminating the car a soft pink.
"can you please tell me where we're going?" you grumbled, splaying your legs messily on the dashboard.
"would it be a surprise if i did...oh ok." he answered, eyes shooting you a goofy smile.
"what surprise is an almost 3 hour drive." you giggle, grabbing his phone from the cup holder to play music.
sparks will fly by jhené aiko began playing, the car was calm and your breath was even, it truly felt like you had acheived the greatest state of peace.
in the 3 years, iwaizumi had managed to woo you into a relationship. you had recently moved in with each other and he decided to stay in california just a bit longer to get his doctorate in physical therapy while you finished law school, becoming an accomplished and esteemed attorney. to everyone else, it could seem like the two of you moved fast but no one would understand the love that you and iwaizumi had with each other.
recently, the two of you had a discussion about life and your goals in the future. iwaizumi knew that with his own, personal goals in mind, he wanted you by his side and he was willing to make sacrifices in order for that to happen. you admitted the same, which eventually led to iwaizumi planning this elaborate trip.
the music played, not obscurely loud but at the perfect volume. the led lights in the car shone on the best angles of iwaizumi possible. his left hand on the steering wheel, right hand firmly placed in yours and rubbing gentle circles. eyes forward, alert at the road for any possible dangers and the stubble that he refused to cut off gracing his perfectly, chiseled jawline.
"you're so handsome, haji." you muttered, eyes full of adoration for the man.
"and you're beautiful, love." he smiled, his eyes focused on the road but crinkling gently at the edges, signalling his content. "if you're tired, you can sleep. your blanket is right under the seat." squeezing your hand gently, he noticed the tiredness floating around in your eyes. you mumbled a quick thanks before pulling his wrist up to gently press a kiss on it and covering yourself with the fluffy blanket.
"i love you...so much." you whispered, before fading off into a comfortable sleep.
iwaizumi smiled deeper, only solidifying his decision as you slept peacefully next to him. the ride continued like that, the windows now rolled up, the music reverberating gently throughout the vehicle and the lights now set unto a soft blue tone. your hand wrapped in his as you slept comfortably. when you arrived at your destination, you were softly shaken awake, eyes blinking back tiredness when you saw the beautiful scenery that greeted you from the open car door.
the pine trees with light snow sprinkled atop their leaves, the driveway that looked freshly shoveled and the beautiful cabin that laid in wait of your arrival. your loving boyfriend, with bags and suitcases in hand, holding your door.
a little slice of paradise.
***
the night had ended quickly as you left the car, the two of you shared a quick meal of fast food that iwaizumi picked up right before you arrived before washing up and falling asleep quickly. iwaizumi had a day full of activities planned, as a kickstart for your sporadic vacation.
it was nearing the last day of your trip and iwaizumi had some elaborate surprise acitvity that he felt the need to disappear all day for.
"just relax for a bit and then be ready by 8, trust me." was all he said before disappearing out the door of the cabin. as it neared 8, you began to grow anxious. you hadn't seen iwaizumi all day and it was unlike him to leave you alone for this long, especially in an unfamiliar area. your mind was silenced when you heard the door to the cabin open and his soft footsteps padding into the room.
you emerged from the bathroom, earrings in your hand as you hobble into your shoes. his eyes blown with love as he takes in your appearance, absolutely gone for you. he kisses you on your forehead quickly.
"you look...unreal, baby. like, wow." his eyes bright as he wraps his arms around your waist gently.
***
the car rolled up to a secluded area, a clearing in the forest with a beautiful view of the frozen over expanse of big bear lake. the trees were sparsely decorated with fairy lights, a blanket spread neatly on the floor and decorative flowers spread across the blanket. candles illuminating the area with their warm light and two empty plates rested in the center.
"oh...wow. haji, this is-" you started, your eyes wide and your heart pounding in gratitutde. absolute thankfulness for the man that is hajime iwaizumi.
"wait. compliment me after this." he smiles and sends a playful wink, a hint of nervousness leaking through his words before he pulls out the bouquet of assorted flowers. ranging from babys breath to your most favorite flowers.
"wow...haji this is. it's perfect. thank you." you smile before grabbing the flowers and kissing him softly.
"sit..." he mumbles, motioning towards the set up. you hobble over, sitting cross legged on the blanket, smile absolutely radiating in the warm lights of candles and cheap string lights.
"you know...3 years ago, i don't think i would ever imagine myself being in this position. i never thought a simple airport crush would ever turn into this....such a deep feeling and experiences i couldn't ever fathom." iwaizumi starts, he's walking towards you slowly before he pauses in front of the blanket.
"y/n, i love you and i know i tell you everyday but i truly and genuinely feel so deeply for you. i care about you and i want to give you everything. you deserve the world and absolutely everything in between. i may not have definite plans for the future but i know whatever opportunities i'm given, i want you. i want you by my side for all of it. i'd be so lucky to experience that...which is why, i have to ask." he pauses before reaching into the pocket of his straight legged pants and kneeling quickly.
"yn ln, would you please do me the absolute honor of spending the rest of our lives together." the ring is suddenly brandished in front of you, iwaizumi's face positively tearing up, the sheer adrenaline of the situation flowing through his body.
your eyes prick with tears, hands shaking as you reach out to touch the ring, pleading for tangible proof that this was real. the moment you had been begging to happen, that you had waited for was finally here. before your words could register, tears were falling as you nodded rapidly. hands reaching out to throw yourself onto iwaizumi before whispering in his ear.
"yes. in every universe, i would say yes." you mumble, head buried in the crook of his neck.
Tumblr media
a/n: i want you all to be aware the proposal bit was soooo impromptu and i never planned for it to exist but, alas. it did and im glad it did. i teared up writing it bcs my favorite love song of all time began playing and it tore my heart up. anyways timeskip iwa ily.

Eurovision 2024: #19
19. CZECHIA Aiko - "Pedestal" 28th place
youtube
Decade Ranking: 67/153 (Above LPS, below TBA)
PUT! MAH! SELF! ONAPEDESTUL
Every once in a while, you're thrown a curveball that you don't quite know how to respond to. Aiko is one of mine.
Tumblr media
Imagine someone who was the surprise winner of their NF because they ran out of breath three seconds into the performance.
Imagine that someone becoming the butt of many joke due to their proven lack of vital capacity over the next months, being ruled out as a qualifier immediately.
Imagine that someone going into the semi dead last in the betting odds, and still looking very much like a sitting duck because she decided to go topless with clamps that looked exactly like nipples? It became a question not of qualification but of whether she would hit double digit points.
Imagine that someone getting sicc'ed an "As We Reach The Equinox"-style narrative by the producers in the previews where "she and her dancers represent the five stages of grief, with Aiko being ~acceptance~" (BULLSHIT! UP TO YOUR EARS!! -- Scout Cloud Lee), foreshadowing a nonsense cover-up for a weak performance.
Imagine that someone then delivered a GOOD live and ALMOST QUALIFIED WITH IT?
Tumblr media
Like what the actual FUCK?! Latvia qualifying was shocking enough, but Aiko wasn't far off in terms of pure WTH factor. Ahmad needs to stop, he's putting most of these foolish HoDs to fucking shame with these left-field glow-ups. First Domi, then Vesna, now this? Christ.
Tumblr media
It doesn't feel like such a turnaround should be possible. It's similar to how Andrea almost qualified in 2022, but that was due to aggregate weirdness. Andrea was never reaching the final with genuine results. Aiko's 11th place in the semi was a genuine result.
And I mean, why not? I always liked "Pedestal". It was the of Aiko's vocal.... um... challenges, and where they would inevitably lead that hampered me from fully embracing it. The hook is SO fun and the track is pure unfiltered britrock with Avril undertones. A perfect break-up anthem that converts screentime into Me-Time 💅.
Tumblr media
The live performance was good. Not great, not outstanding, but solidly good. The staging, the camerawork, the break into the high note. Everything about it helped sell it.
But none of that compares to Aiko. It still hasn't sunk in that she... sang in tune? Nailed the high note? Served? HAIRFLIPS, CHOREOS, FIERCENESS GALORE? ALL OF THOSE THINGS? And made them look effortless too?
Tumblr media
WHERE HAS THIS AIKO BEEN FOR THE PAST FIVE MONTHS?! If she had turned up earlier she would have been higher in the odds, given a better R/O spot and MADE THE FINAL!!!
Tumblr media
Yeah, all of that juicy improvement hoodoo STILL wasn't enough to reach the final. Granted, SF2 was strong, and "Pedestal" had a terrible draw and was definitely outclassed by most of her competitors. But come on. If you're that much better than expected, you should be in the final. Not all of the qualifiers outclassed Czechia. Surely they could have been in over Georgia? I love Gåte dearly but I'd almost burn them for Aiko just for the thrill of having THREE crazy shock qualifiers from the semi of death. (and NRK eating humble pie).
Tumblr media
I'm still not fucking sure how exactly I feel about Aiko but she was solidly good. Not as good as poor Sarah Bonnici, but we'll get there soon. if I compare her to the qualifiers that made it in, Nutsa is the only one I strongly prefer Aiko over (Israel and NL were locks anyway), and Nutsa at least broke an eternal NQ streak. Aiko's NQ undercuts the epicness of her sudden turnaround. I'm more flummoxed by her being good, rather than by how good she was, so let's park her here for now and move on.
Tumblr media
BUT AT LEAST SHE WON WHERE IT MATTERS.
Tumblr media
Ugh they're so perfect together, I HATE THEM!! jk. LOVE THIS, obvi. 😍 Getting over toxic pole by taking a slice of wholesome clam. Living the story of her song in real life, when will YOUR faves (mine => all the time as you'll see). Slay bitches ♥

Album review by: Mark Grondin
I felt Thank U, Next was a rushed album by Ariana Grande. Not only was Sweetener released midway through last year, singles were still in charting circulation. And this was not a case like Taylor Swift's Reputation, where the album was tanking upon arrival - the singles had staying power and top 10 presence, and the reviews were solid. But, like Reputation, it was hard to avoid the feeling that Thank U, Next was being presented as a slice of spin control in the tumult of Grande's public life, with both the collapse of her engagement to Pete Davidson - which, in going back to Sweetener, especially with his namesake song, was easy to predict - and the tragic passing of Mac Miller.
The inclusion of names gives the song additional emotional intensity, but pull back from that - separate the art from the artist - and the entire track seems flighty and disposable, an underweight fusion of pop, R&B and trap that for an outside observer would make no sense to sit on top of the Hot 100 for weeks - only making it feel like it did so due to Republic throwing more money than they probably should to make it stick. And if 'Imagine' increased those suspicions, '7 Rings' confirmed it, along with the cheap, controversy-laden roll-out that, for an artist and her team so measured and big-budget over the past three albums, felt alarmingly slapdash. Then there's the single 'Breakup with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored,' with the bored, capricious air of it raising questions of manipulation and immaturity, compromising any sympathy Grande has built for herself across the album.
She bragged that this album was written in a week and recorded in not much longer.
And it shows in the production. I get keeping things in-house if you're rushing, but so much of the trap-skitters, hi-hats and bass lack fidelity and punch, and just sound cheap if we're being honest - like stock loops. So much of these songs are so heavily reliant upon Grande's vocal line for a core that the influx of reverb just makes them feel skeletal and undercooked.
Not to mention poor single choices which have been emblematic of her whole career.

For Eternal Sunshine [her newest album], I found it dubious to evoke callbacks to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for a nuanced breakup album, given Jhene Aiko already did that for Souled Out ten years ago.

I hope you don't mind me asking but in your tags you said in your opinion women write the best shounen. I was wondering if you had any recommendations?
I've mostly read only the popular stuff, but here's a list anyway ^_^ based on how much I recommend reading it (for one reason or another)
Beastars by Paru Itagaki Very classic shounen, and it's super fun! I love the characters to bits they're all fascinating to follow. You animals live like this? Fucking awesome.
Domestic Girlfriend by Kei Sasuga This is a fucked up recc. It's *very* entertaining the same way watching trucks scrape that one bridge is entertaining. It's a trainwreck, it's compelling, it's a soap opera through and through for me, it was published in a shounen magazine, SHOCKING ME. so it goes here. This is a warning. Read this at your own discretion. I don't know if it's good. I really don't know. The ending is something I'll retell to my grandkids one day. because What The Fuck
To Your Eternity & A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki Ōima She just knows how to write serieses that fuck me up, I don't know what to say.
Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House by Aiko Koyama Actually my favourite Slice of Life of all time, right behind Sweetness and Lightning. The art is immaculately detailed, the vibes captured so perfectly in manga form, I get scared to watch any of the adaptations for fear that they lose this.
Other series that are good, but I don't have much to talk about them other than thumbs up! They were good! (Still ordered by how much I recc reading it)
The Ancient Magus' Bride
Blue Exorcist
Black Butler
The Case Study of Vanitas
Magi: The Labryinth of Magic

I kinda blacked out when I wrote this and woke up with puffy eyes so uh enjoy hopefully sorry if it's bad pls put constructive criticism in the comments also sorry for the shit ending
You were a wife a wonderful beautiful wife to a powerful emperor; you both lived luxuriously and loved each other very much. Too bad he had his concubine a gorgeous woman named Aiko. She was utter perfection from what one could tell. Probably better than you (at least thats what you think to yourself on those lonely nights where you have to listen to them giggle and laugh in the other room while you sorrowfully lay in bed alone.)
You dont know exactly when it happened really, just one day you two were introduced and the next it was like you were the concubine and she was the wife. Now don't get me wrong she was sweet, incredibly sweet, too sweet. Her stupid empathetic looks towards you. Her idiotic apologies when you two were alone in a room together. Everything she did pissed you the fuck off.
One day you couldn't bare it anymore. The heartache of seeing the man you love constantly choosing another woman when he married you too great for you to handle.
You write your Goodbye note and leave it plastered onto the vanity and you try to take your own life with slices to the wrists.
It didn't work.
You wake up in a hospital bed and Aiko standing right next to you sobbing out. Why? Why did she care? Why does she bother? Why isn't she happy you're gone and she gets your husband all to herself?
Then she says it.
Something you think you mishear but she says it. "Please I only got involved with him for you please. I'm sorry. Please."
You couldn't believe why would she a perfect gorgeous woman get involved with someone else for you?
You get better no thanks to your husband who suspiciously had "Too much work to visit you." Complete bullshit. Bullshit you should've expected at this point.
You lay awake in bed alone. Again. Waiting on him until you hear the door open. You excitedly sit up expecting your husband only to see Aiko. Again. You look confused until she says, "I know you probably despise me and think I ruined your marriage but please listen,"
You get confused as you hear the shameful tone in her voice and quickly understand as you see blood on her hands as she continues on, "He can't hurt us anymore I did this for us. I've wanted you since forever. Everything I did was for us. I tricked him into making me his concubine just so I could see you. I forced him to grow distanced from you so I could get closer. And I know that didn't work quite the way I wanted but please I love you so much I never wanted you to hurt yourself I just wanted to get you away from him so we could get closer."
You slowly back up her crazed eyes practically staring through your soul as she gets closer, and she climbs onto the bed still in her nightwear and gets closer to you kissing you softly. "I've always only wanted you," she says in between kisses and continues on "I had to stop myself from throwing up everytime he kissed me cause I knew it would never be as heavenly as your kiss."
She begins grabbing your hands sliding them up her nightgown and to her breasts. "Go on touch me please I know you want too."
You feel something snap in you and can't hold back as you both begin roughly making out your hands both exploring both of each others bodies as you lay her underneath you. "Fuck please touch me please I'm so wet for you please I'm NGH~ AH~" she says as you begin roughly teasing her clit rubbing circles on it. "PleeAase I need more~" She says in between whines.
Her eyes widen and you pull off her soaked underwear tossing it somewhere else and begin roughly eating her out forcing your tongue into her hole. "SHIT~ ahh Ah~ pl~please more PLEASE~!" She desperately whines out bucking her hips onto her face.
She grips your hair desperately her eyes rolling back and her tongue lulling out as she squirts right into your mouth.
"Finally you're mine forever~"

21. The heart next to mine by Abaraya
angst Lovely art on this one. Bakugou is hit with a memory loss quirk and forgets Deku. I thought this one was pretty mild when I was working on it, but our readers thought it was super angsty! Lmk which camp you fall into.
22. A declaration of courtship by Aiko (Roroka)
humor, romance Look, the typesetting needs work and the translation is incomplete, but it’s adorable. Chibi fantasy bkdk where they speak different languages, so Baku’s just trying to show his insta-love through action. It’s silly, but that’s the fun of it!
23. Scarlet Crocus by aroe
romance A short doujin by a beloved artist. It’s not text-heavy; just a lovely portrait of Baku’s devotion for Deku with, uh, a slightly unclear plot, haha. But it’s cute, takes five minutes to read, and we love aroe, so win win win. Easiest dj I’ve ever worked on 😊
24. New Life by I@BOX 💚🧡
slice of life, romance Both Bakugou and Deku are being told that, professionally, they should get married, and neither of them have an interest, so they decide to marry each other. Deku’s sure it’s a marriage of convenience, but Bakugou thinks it’s something more.
25. Kanraku Destiny by I@BOX
drama, romance, humor (bakudeku, alpha!Baku, omega!deku) warnings: omegaverse, suggestive (but fade-to-black sex scenes, no genitalia), liiittle dubconny moments Deku hates being an omega and has Baku bite him in middle school so he can be unencumbered as a hero. Neither are prepared for the consequences of being pairs and rediscover each other after UA.
26. Starting line with you by kinomukumamani
fantasy, friendship It’s only slightly shippy, but it tells a really focused story. The fantasy AU works so well in djs and this is no exception. We get a good focus on Baku and his and Deku’s characterizations are spot on.
27. Call Your Name by lapin
fluff Nice details about why Deku continued calling Baku Kacchan through their bad phase and then flash forwarding to bkdk as adults, in love ❤️
28. Necessary for Life by Nae 💚🧡
general, romance I love the characterization in this one! Baku and Deku are both spunky and a bit silly. The romance is light, but hopeful and I was so pleasantly surprised by this doujin.
29. The Sense of You and Me (Deku’s Favorite Days) by Redsho
general, fantasy Two comics! One with HS!Kacchan babysitting toddler!Deku, and a silly Halloween one.
30. Steampunk AU Christmas by yazaki
general, sci-fi Just a simple story of bkdk working together!
✨ Bonus! - Todoroki ✨
Foggy Pancake by Sakurai
general, fluff Not bkdk, but a cute story where Shouto gets de-aged and sent to live with his family for the day. Enji mostly steers clear, but Natsuo and Fuyumi try to give Shouto a day of being a kid that he never got as a child. Very soft.

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House
"Real love isn't just a romantic feeling. You can fall in love with your art, not just a man. Nor does love for the art stop you from loving someone."
-Momoko-san to Momohana-chan
♡ A Masterpiece!
♡ I didn't expect this to be good as others say. Wow! It blew my mind. It captures Japanese culture at its finest. The characters are perfect! Artistry, acting, and development. How they portray it. Authenticity and diversity! It's lyrical and nostalgic. Now I need to go to Kyoto, Japan!
♡ Recently I finished a lot of anime, movies, and manga. But I don't have the energy to post a review. But I couldn't let this opportunity pass to let everyone know that you need to watch this at least once in your lifetime.
♡ It's not just about cooking. It has profound meaning. It's about friendship, family, loss, true love, sacrifice, and acceptance.
♡ This is a live-action adaptation of an anime. I recommend watching the anime first before this.
๑ Anime: Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House (Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san) ๑
❥ The anime version has a simple premise but has an interesting plot. It's slice-of-life, food, and enjoyable! I like the simplicity of the story. It's whimsical too. It didn't focus on friendship, there's insight about Maiko's life and how home-cooked meals can uplift anyone's spirit. The food aesthetic is on point. I love it!
❥ Both comforting and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
ღ Anime rating: 4/5
ღ Live action rating: 4.5/5
ღ Overall rating: 5/5
ღ 04.30.2023
✿ Plot: The show is based on the manga Kiyo in Kyoto by Aiko Koyama. The nine episodes follow the story of best friends Kiyo (Mori) and Sumire (Deguchi) as they move from their hometown in northern Aomori to Kyoto's Gion district to live in an all-female house of geiko and maiko with dreams of becoming geiko themselves.

What to expect of Jujutsu Aiko-ka
Its still JJK, so there will be deaths, but I am not a sadist like Gege (i hope)
More slice-of-life and the return of Juju Strolls
Story won't be done after Junpei "leaves"
Despite heavily depending on the original manga's storyline progression, this might as well end up an AU
Not planning on making Atsuha all mighty of something, but she DOES have a lot of luck and an intriguing lineage
Progress, as in reality, is slow, and this is shown with jujutsu society's appointed changes on the story

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐞
— 2021 [Hello Future Era]
summary: aiko calls renjun pretty, he malfunctions.
Tumblr media
"Hey," Renjun called out, his head slightly titled as he attempted to catch the attention of the recently blue-haired female idol.
She was blanked out, currently staring at him without as much as an emotion plastered on her masked face.
With absolutely no response, Renjun turned to the person just beside her.
"Mark hyung." He whispered, careful not to disturb the host's conversation with the radio staff and the other members as they all took their 10-minute break.
The de facto leader leaned on his side as he turned his head with his eyebrows raised, silently asking the member what was wrong.
Renjun simply pointed to Aiko, "She's spaced out."
Mark scrunched his eyebrows before placing a firm hand on her shoulder, "Hey."
Mark's concerned voice paired with his unexpected touch eventually caused Aiko to jolt—effectively breaking her self-induced trance.
Aiko blinked at a bothered Renjun, before turning her head to face an equally worried Mark.
"You okay? You tired?" The leader asked, his voice soft and gentle as if already used to these types of occurrences from the members.
Aiko raised her eyebrows, "Oh. Did I space out?" She responded, seemingly still in a trance with how low her voice sounded.
This time, it was Renjun that spoke up.
"Yeah, you've been staring at me for the past five minutes. What's going on?" He leaned closer, darting to the girl's face for any signs of trouble.
Aiko stared back at Renjun with just as much intensity, but, for a completely different reason.
She blinked once more before sporting a sheepish, yet innocent smile.
"Sorry. It's just that you're so pretty today. I couldn't help but stare."
And just like that, Renjun blew a fuse.
Mark snorted, before breaking into a quiet giggle.
This caused Haechan to turn to him to ask what was wrong—the leader's behavior enough to distract him from a random game he was playing with Chenle.
Mark continued to hold in his laughter. "Aiko called Renjun pretty."
Haechan lost his smile, sporting instead an exasperated look. Then, with a disappointed scoff, Haechan darted his eyes to Renjun—who was still red all over with his mouth gape and eyes wide open, before he turned to Aiko.
"Yah! Aiko! I told you to stop telling people that."
His little outburst caught the attention of the other members, as they too, were wondering what happened.
It was only Mark who was enjoying the little scene as his chuckles finally filled the small room, mentally thanking God at that moment for the host's unexpected bathroom break.
"What-what did I do wrong?" Aiko asked, genuine curiosity lacing her tone with the member's sudden scolding—which, only made Haechan groan louder as he placed his hands on his face before pointing at a still-frozen Renjun.
"You broke Renjun!"
