(gif not mine!)
You sat in the RV on the way to a location unknown as per usual. Though knowing it was Alex’s turn to pick the location was quite nerve-wracking. He hadn’t let you in on anything, not even the slightest detail. The one thing you did know, was that he was very excited about it, and that scared you even more. Nothing about this seemed normal, and you were dying to know where he was taking you.
You looked at him and sighed. “Al-” you started. “Nope, no, I’m not saying a thing,” he interrupted you, knowing exactly what you were going to ask him. You huffed and crossed your arms. “You don’t even know what I was gonna say,” you said to him and it was his turn to sigh. “Seriously? You’ve asked only about 8 million times in the last 31 hours,” he scoffed. Chelsea, tanner, and Dakota chuckled. “I'm with her on this, I want a hint of some sort,” Chelsea said and looked at Alex with a raised brow. “Not until later,” Alex stuck to his plan. “You’re no fun,” you whined and poked his arm. “I’m fun, I have a great spot for you guys to stop at while I tell everyone about the location,” he informed you and tossed an arm over your shoulder.
It wasn’t long before you pulled up to the place and got out of the RV. “I’m small enough compared to you giants. What is this place?” you questioned and looked at your boyfriend like he was crazy. Everyone laughed and tanner ruffled your hair, you swatted his hand away. “You’ll have fun I promise,” Alex said and kissed the top of your head.
“Oh hush, I know I will. I’m with these two fools, and Chelsea of course,” you said and nudged her side and she laughed softly. Tanner and Dakota looked at you in mock offense. “Fools?” they questioned simultaneously. “Fools,” you confirmed with a large grin.
“Oh, you’re gonna get it,” Dakota said. You noticed that he was about to run and so of course you sprinted away from him. You could hear him running after you and you laughed breathlessly. About halfway across the parking lot he caught you and picked you up and spun you around until you begged him to stop. You let out a yelp and laughed as he set you down, trying to gain your balance back. “I still think you’re a fool,” you whispered and he looked at you with a look as if saying ‘what did you say?’. “I said nothing,” you said and shrugged before quickly walking back to the group.
“Alright, I’ll see you guys in a bit, go have fun on big objects,” he gestured to what was in front of him and behind you. You chuckled before kissing his cheek. “Love you, Alex,” you said while watching him walk away.
“Shall we?” you asked and pointed to the attraction. “We shall,” Tanner answered and you chuckled before linking arms with Chelsea and making your way back across the parking lot.
As you walked across the lot you saw a large chair and to your surprise a mailbox. “Imagine the packages you could get in there!” Chelsea said and you laughed. “For some reason, I feel the need to climb that chair despite my crippling fear of heights,” you pointed out and directed the camera toward the chair. “I’d pay to see that,” Tanner laughed and so did you. “You just want to see me fall off of it,” you jabbed back and he looked at you with a hurt expression. “Is that what you think?” he asked in surprise. “That’s just what I know,” you smiled brightly at him. He grinned at you, “Alright, alright, you know me too well,” he said. “I know,” you said and they laughed.
You walked further in and came across a giant pencil. “Look at the pencil!” Tanner exclaimed and you chuckled. “Tanner we finally found something that is taller than you!” you proclaimed excitedly. He tossed a glare your way while Chelsea and Dakota laughed. Chelsea jumped to try and touch the eraser and when she couldn’t you decided to try. “Ok, wait! I need to try!” you said and set your camera down. You stood under the pencil and did a couple of test hops before you jumped as high as you could. Ultimately not reaching your goal. “Damn it,” you huffed and they all shook their heads. “Sorry, I guess you’re just too small,” Dakota teased you and you glared at him. “Don’t worry I couldn’t do it either,” Chels reminded you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
“Oh my gosh, it’s a big ass bird cage!” you enthusiastically pointed at it before running toward it. “It has a swing!” you said excitedly and sat down on the seat before swinging yourself back and forth. “She is so easily entertained, I don’t understand honestly,” Tanner shook his head. “Right, I mean, it’s just a swing,” Dakota said. “I think it’s cute,” Chelsea said as she watched you happily swing in the cage.
“Alright, move, we want to swing too,” Dakota said and you got off of the swing so they could sit down. Chelsea hopped on the side of it and you smiled. “This is like, the cutest thing we’ve ever done,” Dakota stated and you chuckled a bit. “Not gonna lie here, you guys do look adorable right now,” you said and smiled at them. “I need pictures!” you exclaimed before holding your phone with one hand and taking a few pictures of them. “I need a picture with everyone,” you said. They all sighed jokingly. “C’mon, you know you love me,” you joked and they all agreed.
Tanner sat on the swing and you hopped on behind him. You had a foot on either side of him as you held on so you wouldn’t fall. You both smiled widely as Chelsea took the picture. Next up, it was you and Dakota. It was an awkward and hard-to-hold pose but you made it work. You were determined to be taller than him and so you sat on your knees on the swing right next to him. He had his arm around your waist to steady you as you rested your head atop his. Your smiles were wide as you tried not to laugh and fall off. He helped you down and next it was you and Chelsea. Seeing as you never wanted a normal pose you and Chelsea both stood on the swing. “We better get this before we both fall off,” she joked and you laughed loudly and smiled over at her. And later on, you found that that was the picture. You smiling over at her while she smiled at the camera. It was one of your favorite pictures you had with her.
Dakota was the last one on the swing, and Chelsea took the opportunity to close the cage door. “I’ve always just wanted to-” she spoke as she shut the door on him. And you all laughed. “He makes a great bird,” Chelsea joked and you laughed loudly. “A beautiful bird,” you agreed teasingly.
“Now, to ascend the giant mailbox!” you declared and they chuckled. You all made your way up to the top and you smiled at the view from up there.
“What do you think Alex is talking about right now?” Dakota wondered aloud. “Probably the usual,” you shrugged. “Yeah, probably something depressing and scary,” Tanner added and you softly laughed. “It has to be that,” you pointed over at him and smiled. “Ok, I think the adrenaline of climbing a giant mailbox has worn off. I’m literally about to panic. Can we get down now?” you questioned and they all nodded. “Right, c’mon let’s get you back onto the ground,” Tanner said and took your hand to guide you back down.
As you walked back down to the parking lot to meet up with your boyfriend you smiled at the thought of him being so excited.
You saw him by the RV and took off in a light sprint. He chuckled at you and opened his arms for you. You crashed into him and he huffed at the impact, laughing breathlessly as he kept you both from falling over. “Hey, babe,” he said and he heard your muffled hello against his neck. You pulled back and smiled up at him. “Did you have fun?” he asked, and you nodded your head. “Yeah, I did. Got lots of good pictures too,” you told him giddily and he smiled at how happy you looked. He leaned down and pressed a kiss on your forehead. “Good, I’m glad,” he said and hugged you close again.
The others joined you and you smiled brightly at them, “ready guys?” you asked and they all nodded before following you into the RV. You sat next to Alex on the couch and Chelsea sat down next to you. Alex tossed his arm around your shoulder to fit you snuggly against his side, and to make more room for Chelsea.
It was a few minutes into the journey when everyone turned their cameras back on. “Alex is in control!” Dakota exclaimed and you smiled up at him. “You have a little pep in your step today,” Chelsea teasingly pointed out and you chuckled. “We’re all excited. It’s not just me,” Alex said and you laughed. “Everyone’s excited about this,” he added and you shook your head. “What?” Tanner asked, “Honestly, like you couldn’t actually believe that,” you joked and looked at him.
“Let’s do a poll. Tanner, how do you feel about Alex picking?” Dakota asked. “Not very comfortable in the slightest,” He states and you nod in agreement. “That’s only one out of the four. Dakota?” he asked his friend. “I’m nervous as hell,” he expressed and you smiled. “And Chelsea?” Alex asked. “You freak me out a little bit, man,” Chelsea answered and you chuckled. “Ok, y/n?” he questioned you. “Honestly, you’re being a little too excited for me to be excited about this,” you told him, “your excitement scares me,” you said and he chuckled.
“You keep smiling like something is up,” Chelsea stated. Alex shrugged his shoulders and you rolled your eyes. “Oh no,” you mumbled and he smiled down at you. “I’m just gonna break it to you guys right now. For my haunted location, we will be doing solos the entire night, with no flashlights,” he broke the news and your jaw dropped a bit.  “What is wrong with you?” you question in exasperation. Everyone groaned in protest, “That’s the worst idea ever,” Tanner complained.
“I just don’t know Alex, about your decisions, your ideas,” Chelsea said to him and you chuckled. “I’m with Chelsea here, the things you do for your locations can be questionable,” you said and everyone snickered.
“We are in the middle of nowhere, like, where the hell are you taking us?” Dakota queried.
“We have been sitting in this RV for a very long time now, and I do have something planned for us. Right now we are on our way to an abandoned grain silo that has been renovated into a rock-climbing facility,” Alex explained his plan for you all. “How tall is this?” Tanner asked.
“The tallest one is about 65 feet,” Alex said and your eyes widened. “This sounds pretty intimidating,” Dakota said and you nodded your head. “Very intimidating, I hate heights,” you told him and gave him a tight-lipped smile. “I’m sorry babe, but there is a competition involved. Whoever gets up the highest will win this competition and it may or may not tip the odds in your favor for the overnight,” Alex informed you. “Damn it, you know how competitive I am,” you shook your head. He squeezed you tightly and kissed your head.
“So, like, whoever wins, whoever gets the highest won’t have to do a solo?” Dakota asked hopefully. “No, no, no, no. That’s funny. That’s really funny,” Alex said and you lightly hit his chest. “That would be a great reward for me,” Dakota spoke up again. “What is it?” you asked Alex. “Let’s just say, you are going to want to try and get to the top. You wanna win, trust me,” he told you. “I definitely don’t trust you but ok,” you countered.
“I don’t know what’s scarier. Climbing this high in an abandoned silo, or not winning the contest,” Dakota said.
You put your cameras down and you sighed. You were nervous about climbing so high. You hated heights and Alex knew this about you, but he also knew how competitive you were and obviously hoped that would outweigh your fear. Surprise, surprise: it didn’t.
You didn’t want to do this, and honestly, you didn’t trust Alex’s little advantage. You knew him a bit too well, to know that it was something good.
He looked down at you and noticed your brow begin furrowed. He lifted his hand and let his thumb smooth out the crease between your eyebrows. Your eyes darted up to look at him when you felt his touch. “What’s up babe, you ok?” he asked and you instinctively leaned closer to him. “I just really hate heights,” you said and rested your head on his shoulder. “You’ll be ok babe, I won’t let anything happen ok, and if you feel like you need to come back down that’s fine, you know no one will be upset with you,” he explained to you and stroked your hair to soothe you. “I know, I just- I hate losing too,” you said and he laughed softly. “I know babe, maybe Dakota will give up before you,” Alex joked and it was your turn to laugh quietly.
“I heard that,” Dakota said and you laughed again. “Sorry, Dak,” you said and he rolled his eyes. You hid your face in Alex’s shoulder as you laughed quietly and he smiled down at you. “ I love you (y/n),” Alex spoke softly. “I love you too Alex,” you said and leaned up to kiss him softly.
The rest of the drive was short, and as you came to a stop you looked outside and sighed. “Oh shit,” you mumbled to yourself knowing that your fear would eventually kick in.

Destination Project Fear Masterlist | Masterlist
It was the day before we leave Las Vegas for the beginning of a new road trip, my first with the Destination Fear gang. I was no stranger to the paranormal though, after all I met Dakota while we worked for Ghost Adventures. It wasn't until I started seeing Alex that I made the decision to join the gang as their equipment tech and assistant.
Up stairs I could hear the guys still packing. I had my bag ready a few days ago so I could focus my attention on packing up all the gear.
"Look at all these cases." Dakota comments drawing my attention over to him from the spare batteries I was loading into a case. "And there is our new equipment tech, (Y/N)."
You wave at the phone he was holding in his hands. "This is all our stuff!" Alex exclaimed looking at all the cases ready to be loaded up. He walked over to my side and pressed a light kiss to my temple causing me to slightly scrunch up my nose at the scratching of his facial hair against my skin. "I can not wait to have another girl around." I joked pushing by the two males to go grab my phone to text Chelsea to see how her packing was going.
======================
As we were within twenty miles from the location cameras were passed out to everyone, including myself for b-real. I climbed up into the bunk above the front seats and aimed my camera down at the main four who were ready to begin filming.
When Dakota starts explaining how sleeping and solos would be restricted by lack of flashlights, my mouth opens and closes at the thought of being stuck alone in the dark like that. "Definitely not a good idea. Someone's gonna hurt themselves." I commented quietly as the others did, but I think Alex was the only one who heard since he looked over with a reassuring smile. "The rule applies to everybody. Me too, and even (Y/N) if she gets involved." Dakota confirms Chelsea's point that the challenge is for everyone.
Dakota hands out their blind folds and I climb down to get a shot of the location as the RV pulls in. I can hear the group putting their blind folds on and I couldn’t stop the gasp from coming out at how large the location was. "Dakota this is insane!" I called back getting mixed reactions in return.
Dakota took everyone's cameras while I handed them each the "care package" that included their walkie, a device to interact with, a flashlight for the packet read, and an extra battery for the camera. I stayed in the RV filming Tanner and Chelsea as Dakota took Alex to his secret location. Watching the way they jumped when Dakota yanked the door open, calling for his sister made me laugh. The two left and soon it was just Tanner and I.
"Is the place big?" He asked and I just hummed a yes in response. "Man, you are so lucky you aren't a part of this secret room thing."
"Well someone has to make sure you guys have everything you need. Besides, it's not like I won't be inside. I just won't be in any of the overly active areas… I think." Tanner laughed at my uneasiness but we kept casual conversation until Dakota came back.
The three of us left the RV together. I walked part of the way in the snow with them before splitting off to the gear room. I had a camping lantern on with my walkie next to it. I placed the camera I had been holding down also facing not only myself but most of the room and gear cases behind me. I pulled out my own copy of the packet while I waited. I was told that the building I was in was the least haunted in the location so I shouldn’t be bothered but it still made me nervous.
The walkie crackled before Dakota’s voice could be heard, “Alright guys, you can take off your blind folds now.”
“I’m in the freaking tunnel system.” Chelsea’s voice sounded out soon after and I gasped, grabbing my walkie to comment, “That is so mean of you to do to your sister.”
Dakota ignored the comments and went on with his instructions. “Underneath your chair you will find a packet. Feel free to open that packet right now and find out where we’re at.”
“Cresson Sanatorium and Prison.” I read out looking at my own packet.
“This could possibly be the most terrifying place in the country.” Dakota states
“Not a good start.” Chelsea responds to her brother.
“Love how this is the first place I join you at.” I comment sarcastically and I can just picture the smile on Alex’s face at my comment.
“You worked with Zak, you can handle this. Now, Chelsea, if you want to read the first paragraph.” Dakota laughs at me before moving on. The four of them went through the packet read, while I silently listened. I mentally wished everyone good luck in all of their haunted locations. I followed the team in darkness by turning off the lantern and sitting in the dark.
My eyes had started to scan around the room. With a light up watch I was able to check the time and it was nearly 10:40pm  when I thought I heard a knocking. “Real funny D.” I sigh just assuming that it was Dakota messing with me. But when he didn’t respond I knew it wasn’t my friend knocking. I instantly turned to my camera. “Hopefully that knocking was caught on camera.”
Dakota jump scared me as he spoke over the walkie. “Hey guys, it’s Dakota. We have been in our arrangements for close to three hours. It’s almost midnight. You guys wanna pack up your stuff, and come meet me in the courtyard? You can use your flashlights now, to get out.”
I turned on the lantern and moved to check the battery of the camera which needed to be changed. I was in the middle of changing the battery when I heard the knocking again. This time it sounded like it was down the hall. I moved to the doorway and stuck my head out looking around only to be met with the door opening at the others coming in.
“Were you guys just knocking?” I asked the four as they entered the building. “No, did you hear something?” Chelsea asked as we all went into the room I had already begun setting up. “Twice actually, I heard some knocking.” I explained taking the chance to give Alex a hug. “By the way, thank you so much for the extra battery. I ended up needing to change mine.” Tanner thanked as he and Dakota laid some things out on a table. “No problem.”
With the gear room set up I picked up my camera and started to record again. I walked next to Alex to the Children’s Ward with the rest of the group, pockets full of extra batteries. As we approached and saw the creepy building in the night with little to no light gave me the creeps. “Did I ever mention that I don’t trust children's spirits?” I mention off handedly thinking of all the negative entities that will try to manipulate people by pretending to be a child.
“Yes you have, darling.” Alex chuckled softly looking slightly down at me as Tanner turned to point his camera at us. “This is where you were Alex?” He asked, gaining a nod from my boyfriend in response. “Yeah.”
I tended to trail slightly behind the four trying to keep them all in frame as best as I could. Dakota was asking for the mimic to actually copy one of our voices and the thought of that just made me uneasy to the point I kept looking around myself. We were probably wandering the building for about an hour before I finally spoke up, “Does anyone else get the feeling that we’re being watched right now?”
“I do. Like it’s getting a feel for us being here.” Alex agreed, panning his camera over at me as he looked through the viewfinder.
Entering the morgue was like an instant shiver down my spine. After spending time in the morgue area and doing an EVP session we began to head back upstairs when we all heard the same thing. Three knocks made us all jump and turn, me being at the end kind of shifted towards the middle of the group as I realized that it was the same rhythm of the knocks I had been hearing.
“That was like three..” Dakota began and his sister finishes, “Knocks.”
“Yeah. Knocks. Like really loud knocks.” Dakota nods passing to go investigate the noise. As they discussed the knocking I subconsciously moved closer to Alex, his presence next to me being a huge comfort. Chelsea repeated the type of knock we heard and I closed my eyes letting out a sigh. “Guys, that’s the same knocking I’ve been hearing all night. It’s just a lot louder now.”
Alex looked at me before turning to the others. “When I was here earlier I said, if there’s a mimicry thing up here repeat this. And I did that knock.” Al even went and repeated the knock he did, the same knock that I heard earlier and the one we all just heard.
We followed the direction of the noise to the tunnels. Now knowing that it was most likely the mimic leading us there, I was set on not leaving Alex’s side unless it was absolutely necessary.
Even with having the lights on our cameras the tunnels were still eerily dark. Alex and I walked at the back of the group, honestly my current footage probably sucked since I was stuck behind Tanner. We had been walking the tunnels for a while, occasionally, the team would stop to make comments. Currently we were stopped right by the chapel which I used the moment to quickly change the battery on my camera. Everyone had a shared feeling of weirdness so Dakota asked me for the Ovilus and I passed it forward after taking it from the bag on my back.
He explained the device for the camera before passing it to his sister. As we began to move again I stepped back to get footage of the four of them walking down the tunnel. As Dakota asked about the entity that was mimicking Alex, my boyfriend turned his head to look at me and I could see how uneasy he was so I stepped closer to him. Holding out my hand I wiggled my fingers until he took a hold of it manning his camera with the other.
The group comes across the chair that Dakota placed Chelsea in. However, it was way too far from the chapel entrance to be in the correct spot… had something moved it? As we walked closer to the chair the thought was debunked as the Laden siblings confirmed that it was not the same chair. As the group proceeded forward and the chair was just a few mere feet behind me the electronic voice of the Ovilus spook.
“Chair.”
My eyes widened and I spun around on my heel letting go of Alex’s hand in the process to face back towards the chair we had passed. The four were reacting to the Ovilus and Dakota even pointed out that we must not be alone. I take a few small steps back to peer around the curve of the tunnel that we rounded to forsure getting the chair on camera. I could still hear the gang mentioning how we are being mimicked. Alex even goes too far as to say we are being mocked.
“(Y/N).” I hear Alex call my name next to me but I pan my camera around to see him still with the group. I quickly hurry to their side. Before I got to mention hearing Alex’s voice behind us there was a knock in front of us. We all were silent and it happened again.
“Hello?” Tanner called down the tunnel.
“How the..?” I muttered glancing back towards the chair with my camera then pointing it at the team. “Okay but I literally just thought it was behind us.”
“What do you mean?” Alex questions panning his camera towards me.
“So when we got ‘chair’ on the Ovilus I kinda went back to get one final look at the chair and when I was there I swear I heard Alex say my name, but he was still right here filming you guys listening to Chelsea talk about the noise she heard.
“Whoa.” Chelsea comments as she looks over her camera at me.
I reached for Alex’s hand again which he securely held at his side. As if jealous that it wasn’t getting enough attention the Ovilus spoke once again.
“Count.”
“What the fuck!” Alex exclaims, slightly squeezing my hand.
“I heard knocking down there!” Tanner points out.
“And it said ‘count’ like the three knocks.” Chelsea adds.
“I could have sworn I heard multiple knocks, not just one.” Tanner continues.
“And then it said count.” Dakota gasps.
“It’s totally messing with us.” I conclude.
The group then prompts another knock to follow. Alex of course being the one to let go of my hand to knock on the pipes. There was some kind of response and as much as all of us didn’t want to, we continued to move forward. Alex promptly moved me to be between him and Tanner in the line.
Suddenly we all heard the same sound. The chime of the music box. Everyone made a noise acknowledging that they had heard it too. As Chelsea and Dakota stepped back making Tanner step back into me it was a bit of a mess as we were not expecting that sound in the tunnels. “Holy shit, it’s music.” Dakota turns to face us before quickly looking down the tunnel.
“That sounded like chimes.” Alex comments.
Tanner quickly glanced to me to make sure I was okay after he ran into me before quickly turning back to the fact that we all just heard the notes of the music box.
“That sounded just like the freaking music box.” I point out.
“Was that the music box or just music?” Dakota questioned wanting to be certain.
“That was definitely notes from the music box.” Alex confirms.
“Like, the music box is pretty..” Tanner trailed off and swore but everyone understood. The music box was pretty unique and recognizable.
“There is no way that was the music box.” Chelsea shook her head. “That’s not possible.”
“I brought the music box back from my location to the gear room and put it back in the box. (Y/n) watched me.” Alex nods his head. “I didn’t even grab it for this investigative walk. It’s still in the gear room packed up.” I mentioned to solidify the fact that the device was not here.
“If this thing can mimic knocking and sounds, why can’t it mimic the music box? Not to mention that (Y/n) thought she heard me call her name earlier.” Alex explains as he mentioned how he used the music box and was knocking in the same building.
Once again against better judgment the five of us continue down the tunnel towards the direction we keep hearing noises in. We pass through a doorway that leads us to a dead end forcing us to split either left or right. Dakota wasn’t even sure where we were, maybe F-block or Administration. Dakota came across a staircase seconds before Tanner came across one. Upon climbing the stairs Dakota was quick to realize we were now in the Administration building. After a quick discussion we decided to hold off on investigating the building until we made a quick trip to the gear room to change batteries and check once again that the music box is still packed away.
The music box was in fact boxed up in the gear room where Alex left it. Dakota even played it to show that it was in fact the tune that we heard in the tunnel. It was then concluded that it has been targeting a mimicking Alex all night. From the knocks, to his voice, and even the music box. After placing new batteries in the cameras we headed back to Administration to do what investigating we could before the sun came up.
Tanner was looking around for anything that could possibly be the source of the sound but nothing came close. With silence filling the building we decided to sit and do one last EVP session. I sat silently filming them as they asked questions for nearly a half hour but nothing came through. But the eventful night came to an end. We all exited the building, the team (not including myself and Dakota) took in the huge expanse of the location.
We returned to the RV still recording. The RV pulled away and that is when Dakota hit us with the next location.
“The next location will be equally as scary, because we are going back to Cresson!”

Slipped, Tripped, and Fell in Love -- A Destination Fear One Shot (Chelsea Laden/Reader)
Requested by the DFAM Discord server ( @spookiesandstuff, @poweredbyghostadventures, and @buttsology to name a few. Let me know if I missed some)
~CW: mentions of blood~
The Destination Fear crew, including its newest member, were now at the halfway point in their road trip. After Tanner’s choice at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast in Fall River, Massachusetts, everyone piled into the RV for a long couple of days. It was Chelsea’s pick next, and it appears that you all are heading to the west coast.
You were cuddling into Chelsea on the couch while the boys took up the benches at the table after she did her opening monologue. Dakota, Alex, and Tanner were trying to get hints from Chelsea on the location you were heading to, but Chelsea was not giving them any.
“Okay, but what about the upcoming pit stop?” Dakota almost whines out.
“Yeah, can we know about it?” Tanner asks.
“Alright, I’ll tell you,” Chelsea says while looking at everyone.
Everyone seemed to cheer before quickly quieting down to hear what Chelsea had to say.
“Instead of your typical sailing in the water, we will be land sailing,” she proclaims. When everyone around Chelsea gave her a confused look, she explained, “We will be in a wheeled vehicle powered by wind with a sail as we move across land. We should be there in about 20 minutes.”
Those 20 minutes seemed to pass rather quickly as you enjoyed being close with your girlfriend. Everyone quickly got out of the RV to get all ready for land sailing. After a quick tutorial on how to operate the sail wagon and putting on a helmet, you guys were all set to start your adventure with land sailing. Figuring out the sail wagon took a minute, but shortly everyone was getting the hang of it. Laughs of pure enjoyment filled the air as you all cruised for roughly half an hour.
        And then it happened.
You’re not sure as to how, but one minute you were enjoying the ride and the next you were skidding on the ground on your non-dominant side outside of your toppled over vehicle. The buckle must have undone when it tipped.
A sail wagon comes to a complete stop next to you as the driver gets out as quickly as possible.
“Holy shit are you alright?” you recognize to be your girlfriend questioning.
“Yeah, I should be good. Might be bruised by the morning though,” you say as you reach your dominant hand out for Chelsea to help pull you up. Once back on your feet, you go to start brushing the sand from your legs before continuing, “Luckily I was wearing pants and long sleeves to-”
Your sentence trails off as you notice the sleeve of the arm you slid on had rolled up and blood was trickling down your arm. Imagine road rash with sand stuck in some of it and that was what your arm looked like.
Immense worry appeared on Chelsea’s face, “We need to head back right now and get this taken care of,” she says as she tries waving Dakota, Alex, and Tanner to head back.
After righting your sail wagon, you quickly head back to get your arm cleaned up with Chelsea’s vehicle right beside yours. Your girlfriend asks about a first aid kit and insisted on being the one to patch you up.
“I’m sorry,” she says while removing as much sand left in your arm as she can.
“Sorry for what?” you ask, not quite sure why she was apologizing.
“For all of this,” she says while waving a BZK towelette in her hand, “Land sailing was my idea and it’s because of this that the one I love got hurt.”
“You…you love me?” you asked in a shocked tone.
Your relationship with Chelsea has only been for a few months with no one saying the “l” word before. That is, until now.
She stops wiping your arm with the towelette for a moment, looks into your eyes with the sincerest expression and one hand on your cheek, and replies, “Of course I do,” before leaning in for a brief kiss.
Once the kiss is broken, you respond, “I love you too.”
The goofiest of smiles spread across both of your faces knowing that you have a person you love immensely that feels the same as you do.
“I just need to bandage you up, and you should be good,” Chelsea states while wrapping part of your arm in gauze and using medical tape to keep it from moving.
“Thanks, honey,” you respond before heading off to quickly join the rest of the crew.
Chelsea quickly caught up to you after cleaning up her makeshift workstation and returning the first aid kit and grabbed your hand. From that point on, she did not leave your side the entire night. Her concern and wanting to provide comfort after what happened to you warmed your heart, and who wouldn’t want to cuddle with the love of your life? And somehow you fell more in love with her from that moment on.

Chapter 19: Names
I was just under twenty weeks pregnant when I went to have my glucose test and the ultrasound that would tell us about any major abnormalities and possibly what sex the baby was.  The twins were on one of their home days and we were taking them along too, so they could be there when they learned if the last of their new siblings would be a brother or sister.  Everyone was excited and there had been bets made on if it would be a boy or a girl.  Some people seemed to think that statistically, it would have to be a boy as there were already three girls on their way.  However, Tony, Bruce, Sam, and Bucky all knew that’s not how statistics worked and seemed to think that it would be a girl just because the universe wanted us to have to all agree on four different girls' names at the same time.
While I was waiting for the sugar drink to take effect Natasha and Wanda had their checkups.  They were now up to 28 weeks and everything was really good.  Even Wanda with the twins was looking very on track.  Both girls were growing strongly and Doctor Schroeder had no concerns at all about her getting to full term with them.
When I’d finally had my blood test and come into the examination room, Natasha and Wanda were finishing up and I was directed to get up on the table for my ultrasound.  Steve, Tony, and Bruce were in attendance.  Pietro was sitting on Bruce’s knee playing with a stethoscope, while Steve held Riley and she tried to grab every single thing that was in reach of her.
“How have you been feeling, Elise?”  Doctor Schroeder asked as I got into position and she set up the ultrasound machine.
“Good,” I said. “The morning sickness passed.  I have more energy.  They kick a lot so I don’t get worried about them too much.”
“That’s good.  And you’re keeping your stress levels low?”  She asked, squeezing some gel on my stomach.
“Well…” I said, guiltily.  “Less stress than when I was pregnant with the twins.”
She shook her head and pressed the paddle to my stomach.  “You really need to be taking care of yourself, Elise.”
“You tell that to the world,” I snarked, and she laughed as she pressed the paddle down on her stomach.
The baby came into view on the screen, looking like an actual baby right down to the fingers and toes.  “I’m assuming you’re all finding out the sex,” she said.
“Oh yeah.  I definitely want to know what flavor of spawn El is cooking,” Tony said.
“And I’m guessing you’re all hoping for a boy,” she joked.
Tony went to speak, but Steve quickly cut him off.  “We’ll all be happy either way.”
“What about you kids?”  Doctor Schroeder asked.  “Do you want this to be a brother or a sister?”
“I wanna sisder,” Riley said quickly.
“No, Wiley,” Pietro argued.  “Deres fwee sisders.  I wanna brovver.”
Doctor Schroeder started laughing.  “Well, let’s see which one of you gets your wish.”
She moved the paddle getting it into position to see better.  “Alright, if you’re placing bets, now’s the time,” she said.  Tony crossed his fingers and started chanting, “Boy, boy, boy, boy, boy.”
“And we have a…” she said slowly, dragging out the suspense for as long as possible.  “Boy.  You’re having a boy.”
“Yes!”  Tony said, pumping his fist in the air and leaning over and kissing me deeply.
“You hear that, Piet?”  Bruce asked.  “You get a brother.”
“Yay!”  Pietro said, bouncing on Bruce’s lap.
“Oh, no,” Steve said.  “We’re going to have a little mini-Tony in the family.”
I started laughing and cradled Tony’s jaw.  “I know.  Isn’t it great?”
“A boy,” Tony repeated.  “Three girls and a little boy.”
“Will this make picking names easier or harder, do you think?” I asked.
Tumblr media
The answer to that question was ‘harder’.  Having one boy made deciding on the name harder.
After we finished up with the doctor we met the others on the garden deck with the dogs for a kind of picnic to try and work out names. With the twins, I had been the one to decide their names.  I accepted input but no one was willing to argue with me about which names I settled on because I’d been under so much stress during the pregnancy.  This time, we were all deciding together.
Having three girls on the way meant that everyone was willing to be more open to accepting girl’s names put forward by other people because there was always another daughter to have the girl’s name they preferred.  There was only one boy and anyone that had a name they liked or was special to them wanted it to be the one used.  So while the kids played with the dogs, we all sat around arguing about names.
“Hey, hey,” Steve said, putting his hands up.  “Maybe we need to write a list.”
Tony opened up a screen that we could all see.
“So for girls we have; Sarah, Rebecca, Kate, Thour, Torunn, Ada, Lyra, Rose, and Marya,” Steve said.  “And for boys we have; Paul, Thomas, William, Módi, Edwin, Ian, George, and Alex.”
“That’s more names than kids alright,” I joked as I helped myself to an egg salad sandwich.
“Should we vote?”  Natasha asked.  “I only suggested a girl’s name and Tony only suggested a boy’s name so we might be able to work it out through votes.”
“I don’t know about that,” Bucky argued.  “Some of those names are important.  Some are just names we like.”
“Maybe people who have names they wanted to be used already should get less of a vote this time,” Wanda suggested.  “I mean, Pietro is already named for my brother.  It is only fair that the names I suggested be put at the back of the line.”
“Does that mean El doesn’t get a say this time?”  Clint asked.  “I mean, Piet and Riley were named without a vote. She just decided.”
“Whose fault is that, Clint?” I snarked.
“Right,” he said, holding his hands up.  “I know.  Sorry, I was just asking.”
“Elise gets just as much a say as everyone else,” Steve said firmly.  “She may have selected Riley and Pietro’s names but she chose them based on people who were important to some of us.”
“Daddy, daddy, daddy,” Riley said, running flat out into the group, followed by Spotty.  She slammed into Sam’s side, drawing a soft ‘oof’ from him before grabbing his arm and pulling on it.  “Come, come pway.”
“Hold on, you monster.  We’re just trying to pick the names for your new brothers and sisters,” Sam explained, picking her up and tossing her in the air.  “After I finish my lunch I’ll play.”
“Why don’t you and Pietro get in the swings and I’ll push you,” Wanda suggested.  Riley seemed to think that was a good idea as she ran back off with the dalmatian on her heels.  When she and Pietro climbed up into their toddler swings, Wanda flicked her wrist and used her telekinesis to push them.
“Is it worth noting that Sarah was a name put forward by two people and so was Rebecca?”  I asked.
“That’s a good point,” Steve agreed.
“Plus those are family ones.  I’d really like to name one of my daughters after my sister,” Bucky said.  “And it was Bruce’s mom too right, Bruce?”
Bruce nodded.  “That’s right.  I would definitely like to honor my mother.  She was the only reason I made it through infancy.”
“And I’d like to use Sarah for the same reason,” Steve agreed.
“Plus Sarah was my late sister’s name,” Sam added.
“I’m fine with Sarah and Rebecca being two of the names,” I said.
“Anyone not okay with that?”  Tony asked.  When no one argued it, he moved the names Rebecca and Sarah to a new column.
“Was there any other girl’s names that were special to us?”  Steve asked.
“Marya was my mother’s name,” Wanda said, still flicking her wrist back and forth as she swung the kids.  The sounds of the squeals floating over to us.
“And Rose was the name I chose when I had a miscarriage,” Natasha said. “I know that’s not the same thing but… I feel attached to the name.”
Clint put his arm around her and rubbed her side.
“They’re both really pretty names,” I said.  “I’d be happy with either.”
There was a murmuring of agreement from the others. Tyr who seemed to be finished playing with the kids came over and curled up on Bucky’s lap and he started playing with the spaniel’s ears.
“I guess the question would be if either of you is happy to have the name as a middle name?  And if not, do you want to hold onto it in case we have any more children in the future.”
“I can wait,” Wanda said, caressing her stomach. “Pietro was named for my brother and I want to do this again.  Maybe not for a while but I love being pregnant.”
Tony moved the name Rose under Rebecca and Marya to a completely different line.
“Alright, we’re getting somewhere,” Steve said.  “Anyone not okay with any of these girls' names being middle names?”
“If we ever use Thour, I’d like it to be a first name,” Thor said.
“Same with Kate,” Clint added, and both names were moved to the row with Marya.
“Well that leaves three names, which is exactly what we need,” Bruce said.  “So let’s just see how they sound together.”
There was a little toing and froing, and at one point Clint and Sam got up to play with the kids while we argued about how the names sounded together.  In the end, we settled on Rebecca Torunn for the baby Natasha was carrying, and Sarah Lyra and Rose Ada for the twins.
“Alright we have eight boys’ names and one boy,” Steve said.  “How are we going to do this? What names are important to us?  Ian was my grandfather and George was Bucky’s dad.”
“Paul was my dad,” Sam added.
“Edwin was Jarvis’ first name,” Tony said.
“But all of you have also had a kid or more named after someone important to you,” I reasoned.  “Has anyone not done that?”
“Well you, and you’ve carried the most babies,” Sam said playfully.
“That is true. But I did also name the twins with no discussion,” I added.  “I don’t know if I have any names that I really love anyway.  I like having the names be important to all of you.”
“Seriously though, El,” Bruce said.  “All of us have put names forward and all of us have had at least one name that was important to us used already.  Isn’t there a name you grew up loving?  Or a family member who you did love?  A grandparent maybe?”
I shook my head and shrugged a little.  “I liked the name Nova I guess,” I said.  “But I’d much rather he be Edwin or Ian or Paul than Nova.”
“Not George?  Rude,” Bucky teased.
“Come on now, Buck,” I teased back.  “You have a common name like George and you don’t even use it.”
“Oh and Paul is so… uncommon,” he snarked.
“Anyway,” I said, rolling my eyes.  “Bucky, Steve, Sam, and Bruce now all have first names for kids.  Yes, Riley’s middle name comes from Tony’s mom, but given that this baby is one he specifically asked to have, I think it’s fair that we name him Edwin unless anyone has any huge objections to that.”
“I don’t!”  Tony joked.
When no one argued with it the name Edwin moved from the maybe pile to the list under Rebecca, Sarah, and Rose.  “Alright, Eddie is gonna need a middle name,” Tony said.
“I say George,” Bucky said.  “Seeing as Elise just seriously dissed my dad’s name.”
I smothered a laugh and pushed him.  He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me back so we were both lying on the ground.  I squealed and started wrestling with him and soon the dogs and then the twins were trying to get in on the action too.  “Bucky!”  I squealed as I struggled under him.  “This isn’t how you get what you want!”
“Really?”  He asked as he started tickling me.  “I think it’s gonna work.”
“Stop it!  I’m gonna pee myself!”  I squealed.
“Daddy!  You weave mommy awone!”  Pietro said, protectively pushing Bucky to get him off me.
Bucky sat up laughing.  “Oh no, I’m sorry, peanut.  I shouldn’t be so mean to mommy should I?”
Pietro put his hands on his hips and huffed.  He looked so much like a mini Steve that it would have been easy to forget that Clint was actually his biological dad.  “Oh man,” Tony laughed.  “Cap version 2.0.”
“Thank you, Piet,” I said, pulling him into my arms and cuddling him.  “We were just playing.”
“Otay, mommy,” he said, snuggling up to me.
“Daddy Bucky wants your little brother’s name to be Edwin George Skjodbærer.  What do you think?”  I asked.
Pietro seemed to think about it for a moment and nodded his head.  “Is good.”
Steve chuckled.  “Well, I think the king has spoken.  Edwin George?”
Everyone nodded in agreement and Tony moved George next to Edwin in the list.  “That’s one more thing done,” he said.  “Now all we really need to do is stock up on baby supplies and hire the nannies.”
“There is one other thing we need to work on,” Steve said seriously and looked at me.  “We need to figure out how to get rid of El’s stress.”
I frowned and nodded.  It was definitely something I needed to work out, but I was afraid that any steps I took might just make it worse.  Whatever the case was, I need to go speak to my mother and hope that I could get some kind of closure for good.

Weekend Roundup: U.S. Founders Entrusted Elites To Save Democracy From Itself
The word “democracy” does not appear in the U.S. Constitution. Nor in the Bill of Rights or the Declaration of Independence. That is because, as most Americans today would likely be surprised to discover, America’s Founding Fathers not only distrusted democracy but, based on their close reading of Greek and Roman history, were actually hostile to the notion that it was the best system for governing society.
James Madison, the fourth U.S. president and a key author of the Federalist Papers, famously declared: “Democracy is the most vile form of government … democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” John Adams, the second American president, wrote: “Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
Taking into account this central lesson of antiquity, the founders instead designed a mixed constitutional republic that, while rooted in consent of the governed, delegated authority to elites ― representative, indirectly elected and appointed bodies ― that could “refine and enlarge the public views” as ballast against the popular passions of prejudice and the narrow horizons of self-interested constituencies.
For the founders, popular sovereignty unchecked by the cool and reasoned deliberation of the meritorious few would invite majoritarian intolerance of individual and minority rights, degenerate into mob rule and summon tyranny to restore order. “No political truth is certainly of greater intrinsic value,” Madison wrote in The Federalist Papers No. 47.
In an interview with The WorldPost this week, political scientist Francis Fukuyama addresses the conundrum presented to the founders’ idea of governance in the face of 21st century populism. “Populism exists,” he says, “because institutions are elite-driven.” While “institutions in the past have always been controlled by the elites,” he continues, “through the presence of the internet they are losing their power. Maybe democracies don’t work too well without a certain degree of control from elites.”
I would add that the great danger today is conflation by fervent populists of corrupt, out-of-touch and unresponsive elites ― that rightly should be overthrown ― with a learned and experienced elite that any large society needs to govern. As a governing ethos, know-nothingness will get you nowhere.
Yet, as Pankaj Mishra observes in another WorldPost interview, the very foundation upon which elites might rehabilitate their authority has eroded. The Indian author takes the debate to both a deeper and a more global level by examining how the ressentiment against the cosmopolitan caste that has been gestating in the developing world for decades has now erupted in a mutiny against the governing narrative in “the heart of the modern West.” If the Western “truths” that have dominated the world in modern times at the expense of alternative worldviews are now themselves unraveling, where do we go next?
“We are now recognizing that our modern civilization has always been incredibly fragile,” Mishra says, “since it has no recourse to any transcendental truth, as distinct from certain agreed-upon truths. And so while political and economic crises may come and go ― Trump’s presidency may implode tomorrow ― the moral and epistemological breakdown we witness today is more enduring and destructive. I would argue that the naïve people, the free-marketeers and globalizers, responsible for this state of affairs did not know what they were doing ― that they were dismantling a whole system of interlocking and necessary fictions that societies and individuals have needed since the death of God to give a degree of meaning, purpose and stability to their lives.”
The consequence, Mishra argues, is the universalization of nihilism in which the whole notion of “consensual truth” is collapsing. “Nihilism today is the single greatest threat to the modern world since its founding principles of reason, science and progress were formulated,” he concludes. It is not surprising, then, in his view, that “the subjectivization of ‘facts’” and the “fragmentation of ‘truth’” are filling up the vacuum. They are the remainder of the West’s heyday.
Nowhere is the truth these days more malleable than in Russia. Writing from Moscow, Ilya Yashin marks the second anniversary this week of the assassination of his friend and opposition leader, Boris Nemstov. Yashin sees a dangerous campaign to revise recent history and roll back post-Soviet advances in the media and the rule of law in the nationalist revival under Russian President Vladimir Putin. Nick Robins-Early reports that Russian disinformation efforts have a lopsided advantage over Europeans trying to defend the integrity of their discourse as elections loom. He also highlights a speech by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban this week in which the leader expressed a new angle on nativism ― that “’ethnic homogeneity’ is key for economic success, and that ‘too much mixing causes problems.’”
In a wide-ranging essay, Nicolas Berggruen examines the role of opposition movements. While raucous protests in and of themselves may make a point, he says, they also can create a sense of chaos that “is the greatest gift to parties in power, especially dictators.” Social movements that succeed, by contrast, are characterized by a broadly shared narrative, a plan, organization and leadership, Berggruen argues.
This week the Berggruen Institute also hosted a discussion in Los Angeles with Sapiens and Homo Deus author Yuval Harari. The Israeli historian discussed what it means to be human in an era when we are attaining the power of gods to change our own species and create a new one ― AI. “History began when humans invented gods, and will end when humans become gods,” he says.
Former WorldPost China Correspondent Matt Sheehan looks outside the box on the troubled relations between Washington and Beijing. “The engine room of the U.S.-China relationship,” he writes, “has moved from the White House to City Hall.” While the talk in Washington is of tariffs, American mayors are wooing Chinese investors and immigrants for their local projects.
Writing from Shanghai, Zhang Weiwei argues that political legitimacy comes fundamentally from the competence of leadership, as in the case of the Chinese Communist Party, that fulfills its contract with the people by delivering prosperity and security ― whether they were elected or not.
Eric Olander and Cobus van Staden see a Trump-inspired shift to China coming to Africa as the continent looks to Beijing for stability in the absence of a clear American Africa policy.
Finally, our Singularity series this week asks a question about our pets that we may soon be asking about our children: should we genetically engineer dogs to make them healthier?

Ashmore Estates pt.3- Alex Schroeder x Reader
word count:3566
warnings: language, fluff, I think that's it
summary: based on season 4, episode 6 of DF. so all credit goes to the crew, the show, and the channel/network. The packet is read, and it's time to start the investigation.
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
“Sequestered within the never-ending cornfields of eastern Illinois, can be found the decaying remains of Ashmore Estates,” Dakota started. “Opened in 1857 as the Coles county poor farm, it had 30 buildings spread across 260 acres,” He continued. “The day-to-day operation of the poor farm was unmonitored leading to unhygienic and unsafe living conditions. In the 1870s alone 12% of the residents passed away. One such inmate was Joe, a maintenance man for the almshouse. He had been walking back from town when he was hit by an oncoming train. Though a good samaritan carried him back home his injuries were too grave and he passed away,” Dakota explained and your heart sank. It always made you sad, when you heard stories like that, life truly was just unfair and unkind sometimes. “That’s so sad,” Chelsea said. “I was just thinking the same thing. I couldn’t even imagine,” you said and leaned your head against Alex’s shoulder. He squeezed your waist as Dakota read on.
“But perhaps the most tragic death to occur was that of 5-year-old Elva Skinner in 1880 in a building previously on site. She had been left alone inside while the adults went out to work the farm,” He said and your heart dropped. You knew this was going to be terrible, and it was.
She had passed away after her dress had caught on fire despite them doing everything they could to help her. Everyone at the table was horrified by the way she died. “What a terrible way to die,” Chelsea said and you couldn’t help but nod. There had been accounts of seeing her and hearing giggling.
“Dude when we were here last time and we were all in our sleeping arrangements there was a girl giggling that was captured on camera,” Dakota brought up. It all came back to you, you remember watching the footage back and it scared the hell out of you.
“That, like, puts validation to what happened to us,” Dakota said. “And now going back we have a name to go off of,” Alex spoke. “Elva Skinner,” you repeated the little girl's name out loud.
The packet was handed to Chelsea and she began to read. “Those lucky enough to stay alive had to contend with truly atrocious conditions. Flies reportedly swarmed everywhere and there was noticeably rotten food prepared for dinner,” she explained and you shivered at the thought. “That’s disgusting,” you said and shook your head.
“By 1916, the conditions were so appalling that the original buildings were torn down and a new one was built in their place, operating for the next 40 years. It then transitioned to a private psychiatric hospital. Allegedly the most violent patients received electroshock treatments. It closed its doors in 1986,” Chelsea stopped.
“I forgot how layered this place is,” Dakota said.
The packet was then handed over to Alex. “The most active areas include The first floor. This floor is active with every kind of paranormal activity imaginable,” he said before holding the packet in front of you. You accepted it from him and began to read.
“The second-floor green room. A former poor house resident named Mary can be found in this room. People have heard her raspy breaths follow them through the building. She’s known for throwing and knocking over items,” You finished and passed it to Tanner.
“The boiler room. Joe. the former maintenance man is found here. While he is normally friendly if he feels disrespected, he can become quite agitated,” Tanner read. He was known to not like females in the boiler room, they would get shoved, grabbed, and even have their hair pulled.
You reached for Alex’s hand and he held yours tightly. He knew you didn’t fare well with that kind of information when it came to an overnight. It made you impossibly nervous, and he always made sure that you were ok before, during, and after.
There was a man who had actually been thrown across the room after defending the girls he was investigating with.
Alex held you tighter. He knew how much worry you held for your friends and so hearing that was something that made you very uneasy. You got protective easily, and so it was something you didn’t like to hear.
Alex picked up the packet and began again. “The third floor. This entire floor is incredibly active, especially by the former electroshock therapy room. Though Elva, the five-year-old who passed away on site is known to play up here there is another unknown entity that grabs people appearing as a phantom mist before disappearing completely,” Alex described. That entity was known to cause scratches and hurt anyone who may be vulnerable when up on that floor. It’s like he can sense it and preys on the more sensitive and weak.
“We did not know about that phantom mist on the third floor, reaching out and grabbing people,” Dakota said. “What I captured on film looked exactly like that description,” Tanner pointed out and it immediately took you back to that night, and what you had seen on camera. It was terrifying, especially back then when you were completely new to all of this.
“So creepy, like I have the chills right now,” Dakota said and you nodded your head. “I do too, I remember that so well,” you added.
“To be honest what you caught there was the reason I wanted to see this location so badly,” Alex admitted. “I have to see this for myself,” He added.
“I think it’s going to be a jam-packed night. What do you say we load some gear and get going,” Alex suggested and you internally cringed at the thought of staying there again.
“Let’s do it, dude,” Dakota said and Alex replied, “let’s start this night,”
You all got up and walked back to the RV to get your gear. “I cannot believe we are back here,” You said to yourself as you looked at the building over your shoulder. “It’s been so long, I wonder if they will remember us?” Chelsea wondered aloud. “I bet they will,” you said and shook your head. You headed into the building for the first time in almost 7 years and it took your breath away. It was like taking a step into the past. You remembered your exact words when you first stepped into the building.
“Guys I think we’re screwed,” you repeated yourself from 7 years ago. “That’s exactly what you said when we first stepped into this place,” Tanner recalled and you chuckled. “Well, it’s equally as true now as it was then,” you said. Everyone chuckled, and Alex walked over to wrap his arms around you. “Everything is going to be just fine, I promise you. I won’t let anything happen to you. I know you can do it, babe,” he said softly and kissed your head.
“I hate solos, Al,” you spoke quietly. “I know, but just think when it’s over we won’t have to come back. I know you’re nervous, but I also know how strong you are. You have so much more experience than you did last time, I have full confidence that you can handle this. And if anything happens I’m right here, I’m gonna be right here,” he tried to put you at ease. “Ok,” you breathed out and wrapped your arms around him tightly. You pulled away the slightest bit so that you could lean up on your toes to place a kiss on his lips. Your hands clutched the fabric of his shirt tightly and his rested firmly on your hips.
You pulled away and softly smiled at him. He smiled back before pressing a lingering kiss on your forehead for good measure.
“You guys ready to start?” Dakota asked and you looked over at him before sighing. “I’m ready when you guys are,” you said and looked up at Alex as if asking him the same question. He just nodded his head. “I’m ready, let’s go,” he said and grabbed your hand in his.
“So we just got done setting up the gear room, we are about to jump into solos,” Alex announced and you shifted your weight nervously. “Who’s ready?” He asked. “I am never ready for solos,” you told him. “I’m not ready either,” Dakota followed up. Everyone else agreed, and you chuckled. “See, this is not a good idea Alex,” you said and softly glared at him. “You guys will be fine,” he playfully brushed it off and you rolled your eyes. “This is the worst. And we have no flashlights,” Tanner reminded everyone. Your heart dropped.
“Tanner!” Alex spoke up. “Yeah?” he asked. You could tell he was not excited at all, and you couldn’t help but feel the exact same way. “Since you won the contest today, and you are a superior athlete, and a strong man,” Alex continued. “Yup,” Tanner said as if telling him to continue. “You win the privilege…” Alex paused. “The privilege,” Tanner repeated. “Of going into Ashmore Estates, first,” Alex finished and your jaw dropped. “What?” he asked incredulously. You could hear Dakota snickering beside you and you slapped his arm. “Why?” Tanner questioned again. “You won the contest. You get to go in first,” Alex shrugged his shoulders like it was obvious. “That’s not a prize, that’s losing,” Tanner said. “Alex that’s just mean,” you said and glared at him. “Well first place goes first right?” he shrugged again and you shook your head.
“It’s so mean, to let him go in first,” Dakota joked. “You wanna take his place?” Alex asked and looked at him, “No,” Dakota admitted and you chuckled. “This is a crappy prize,” Tanner said and you agreed. “Then pride is your prize,” Alex suggested and you once again rolled your eyes. “Pride is my prize?” He asked quizically. “You are a sore winner,” Alex told him.
“This literally makes no sense. Did you put any thought into this?” Tanner questioned your boyfriend. “You know-you know what?” Alex slightly stammers. “Go for it,” Tanner encouraged him. “How about, oh, I don’t know maybe you’re wearing the enhanced recorder the entire time,” Alex spat out. “Oh no! I’m so scared. Not!” Tanner mockingly said. “Alright, this is good!” Alex said back. “Perfect,” Tanner retorted. “This is good,” Alex reiterated. “Cool,” Tanner said one last time. “Whatever, you know I’ll just go in there first,” Tanner said and you shook your head. “Stir it all up,” He told you and you sighed heavily. “I mean there you go, that’s super positive of you,” Alex said in mock positivity.
“Alright, let’s get going,” Tanner breathed out heavily. Before he walked away you went over and wrapped him in a hug. “You got this Tanner,” you said and he smiled softly and kissed your head. “Thanks, (n/n),” he said before taking a deep breath and making his way into the building. “Remember, you’re a winner,” Chelsea called after him. “Biggest winner out there,” Alex reiterated. “Doesn’t feel like a winner,” Tanner spoke up. “You’ve got this!” you tried to encourage him.
As soon as he was in the building you walked over and smacked your boyfriend's arm. “That was no prize Alex,” you said with a slight look of annoyance. “It was for us,” he shrugged and smiled down at you smugly. You rolled your eyes. “You’re gonna be the death of me Alex, I swear it,” you mumbled and he chuckled before tossing an arm around you and pulling you into his chest. “You love me,” he whispered before kissing your head. “You’re lucky I do,” you said and held his arm that was around you.
“That I am,” he said and leaned forward to kiss your cheek.
“Hey, what about us?” Dakota asked with his arms out in mock hurt. “Aww, I love you guys too,” you said and walked over to hug Dakota before kissing his cheek and doing the same with Chelsea.
“They’re such babies,” she said and you laughed. “They really are, honestly. I don’t know how I put up with him sometimes,” you nudged her shoulder and she chuckled. You all sat at the table once again. You set your camera down so you could grab his free hand and hold it in your lap. Just to hold him in some way. It eased your nerves.
“That was kinda mean, not gonna lie,” Dakota said and you nodded your head. “He’s right Al,” you said and looked at him. “Are you like mad at him?” Chelsea asked softly. “No. He just won. The prize was not a good one at all,” Alex explained it simply. “Obviously Alex,” you said and nudged his shoulder. “What’s the moral of this story? Don’t win? Don’t try?” Dakota asked curiously. “Just be cautious. Watch your back,” Alex told you. “Oh wow, that’s nice,” your sarcasm practically dripping from your words. “A prize can turn into a surprise, real fast,” Chelsea spoke up and you gave her a tight-lipped smile. “True, true,” Dakota agreed with her.
“Do you think he’s ok up there?” you asked nervously. “He’s Tanner, I’m sure he’s ok why don’t you check on him if you’re worried?” Chelsea asked and smirked playfully as she handed you the walkie. You rolled your eyes and took it, “I’m not trying to scare him I’m just gonna check on him. But if it does scare him then that’s what happens,” you shrugged and softly smiled. They all chuckled. “You’re too good of a person,” Dakota shook his head and you laughed. “Sure, ok,” you said and stuck your tongue out at him playfully.
You held down the button for a few seconds before speaking, knowing that it might not scare him since he would hear that. “Hey, Tanner,” you said. “Shit,” you heard him curse and you internally cringed. “Yeah, go for Tanner,” you heard him say and you could tell he was already a bit drained from being in there. “I’m sorry to scare you, I just wanted to check in and make sure that you were ok,” you spoke. “It’s ok, I just wasn’t expecting it. It’s freaky up here honestly,” he told you and you nodded despite him not being able to see you. “Are you ok?” you asked sweetly. “Yeah, I’m ok, just a bit freaked out. I’ll see you in a bit ok?” he asked and you just sighed. “Alright, We’re here if you need us at all,” you said genuinely hoping to ease his nerves. “Thanks (n/n),” that was the last you heard.
“Are you ok?” Alex asked and pulled you closer to his side. You rested your head on his shoulder and nodded. “I’m ok, just uneasy,” you said and sighed. “I know this may sound weird, but why don't you go next?” Chelsea suggested with a small smile. You looked at her with wide eyes. “What? You want me to pee myself?” you asked in disbelief. Everyone chuckled, “No, I just thought it would be a good idea to get it over with and not have to wait and let anxiety build up even more,” She explained and you let your shoulders fall.
“You’re probably right, it would just be easier for me to go and get it over with. Gosh, this really sucks Alex,” you said and nudged him. He kissed the top of your head and smiled down at you.
“Can I talk to you before I go in Al?” you asked him and he looked down at you in concern. “Yeah, of course, babe,” he said and you began to get off of your seat. They all looked at you in worry. “Is everything ok,(y/n)?” Dakota asked and you just nodded. “Yeah, I just wanted to talk to him for a second. “We’ll be right back,” you said and grabbed Alex’s hand. You both set your cameras down before walking away a bit.
“Is everything ok?” Alex asked as he placed his arms around you. “I really am scared Al, what if they do recognize us and something bad happens?” you told him. “What if something grabs Chelsea if she’s in the basement or something and she gets hurt? What if one of you gets hurt? There are just so many what-ifs and I’m scared,” you relayed your fears to him. He looked down at you with a soft gaze. “Hey, hey, don’t think like that. I know you’re scared but nothing will happen. And even if something does, we have each other. All of us have each other's backs, that’s the way it’s always been and I’m sure that’s the way it will always be. So if you need to break down or fall apart, we’re right here. I’m right here,” he said and pulled you in close.
You wrapped your arms around him and held onto him tightly not wanting to let go. “I just want us all to be ok,” you spoke softly and he leaned down to kiss your head. “We will be,” he said and pulled away from you slightly so he could look at you.
You moved your arms up and around his neck to pull him down and place a kiss on his lips. He reached up to place a hand on your cheek and you leaned into his touch. He couldn’t help but always want you closer, he could never put his finger on it but something about you was just so endearing. Maybe it was everything?
Just like that, he made you forget where you were, and what you were about to do. He made you feel at home, and secure. That was always the case, he took the fear away even if only for a few seconds. It was just gone.
Before you knew it you had to pull away, and for a few seconds, you felt like you could breathe. He smiled down at you and pushed a strand of hair away from your face. “Promise, you’ll be here when I get back?” you asked looking up at him with a worried gaze. “I promise you,” he reassured and kissed your forehead. “Ok, ok I’m fine,” you said trying to be sure of yourself. “You ready?” he asked and placed his arm around your shoulders. You nodded your head curtly and took a deep breath. “I’m ready,” you said and he guided you back towards your friends.
“Hey, you ok?” Chelsea asked when you sat back down.” Yeah, I’m ok,” you smiled softly at her. Before Dakota got to speak Tanner came rushing out of the building. “Woah, Tanner are you ok?” You asked as he quickly made his way over to the table. “I just heard whistling,” he told you, you could hear the shock in his voice. “What? A whistle?” Dakota asked incredulously. “Like on the second floor, I started to hear this faint whistling. There’s no way if I didn’t have this device that I’d have heard it,” Tanner explained and your heart rate picked up. “That’s crazy, Tanner,” you expressed. Alex and Dakota let out a simultaneous ‘what?’.
“Yes, it was the second floor,” he informed you. “That’s freaking terrifying,” Chelsea said.
“Dude, I heard it multiple times,” He told you. “Whistling, for sure?” Dakota asked. “100%” Tanner assured him. “Like, it, enough to where it, it, froze me,” He described his experience.
“That’s super weird because there’s supposed to be a woman, Mary, on that floor. She’s a poltergeist on that floor, she’ll move things around, and other claims are that there is raspy, like, whispering and breathing,” Alex explained some claims from that floor. “Did you go like, approach where it came from?” Dakota asked. “Fuck that,” Tanner stated and you chuckled. “I concur,” you agreed. “See, thank you,” Tanner said and gestured to you and you just nodded at him. “You didn’t go towards it?” Dakota asked again. “I am not exploring this place by myself the entire night. Someone else can take that second floor and do the follow-up,” Tanner said. “I’m proud of myself. I’m calling it quits,” he said and you just nodded. “I’m proud of you too Tanner,” you said and got up to give him a high-five. He instead wrapped his arm around your shoulder and brought you into a big side hug. “Alright, (y/n), It’s your turn. You’re next up,” Alex said and you sighed heavily.
“This is great, I’m so excited,” you said sarcastically and threw your arms up in mock excitement. They all chuckled. “You’ve got this,” Tanner said and squeezed your shoulder. “Alright, alright fine. I’m going,” you sighed and you got handed the Ovilus. “Bye guys,” you waved and as you walked away you felt someone come up behind you. You turned around to see Alex and smiled. “What? Did I forget something?” you asked. He just leaned down and pressed his lips to yours for a few seconds before pulling away. “Just that,” he said and smiled back at you. You shook your head, “You’re too much sometimes Al, now go on, I have to get this over with,” you said and shooed him away. “If I die, I love you guys!” you called over your shoulder. “We love you too!” you heard them call back.
“Alright guys, let’s do this,” you spoke and opened the door.

so, you guys! I'm back. I know it's been ages and I'm so so so sorry. I've been doing school. and I suddenly made the decision to drop out after some major life events took place last week. I know it's probably annoying but If you could pray for me or just even send kind thoughts it would really give me hope and it's more than more appreciated.
I love you to the moon and to Saturn!

“I’m gonna flip out,” you thought to yourself. Tanner noticed your unease and gave your shoulder a gentle squeeze and sent you a reassuring smile. You smiled back gratefully.
You exited the RV and immediately you looked up to see how tall it was. You held Alex’s hand, “you guys ready to climb?” he asked and looked back at you all. He gave your hand a squeeze and pulled it up to place a kiss on the back of it.
“That is so tall, I cannot climb that high,” Dakota said as you walked closer to the building. “No, you’re gonna do great,” Alex told him and you shook your head. “I’m gonna freak out,” you said quietly. “You’ll be ok babe, I promise,” Alex had heard you and pulled you closer to place his arm around your shoulders. He kissed your head once you had stepped into the building.
The whole group could tell that you were nervous and they all worried that you might get scared up there. When Alex let go of your hand Chelsea was quick to grab it and you smiled gratefully at her. “Thank you,” you mumbled and she just smiled at you. “You’ll do just fine, (y/n/n),” Dakota said and gave you a side hug. You sighed in relief at the thought of your friends being there with you. It was nice to have a support system in times like these when you really needed them.

Yeah, you climbed to the top of the giant mailbox, but this felt different. You were relying on your strength to get you to the top of a giant concrete wall. Where you could easily lose your footing and fall, whereas there were guard rails and stairs on the former.
You all got geared up, and ready to climb the wall, but your nerves began to build up even more at the thought of being so high up. Your heart started racing faster and your stomach began to turn.
You all chalked up your hands and were ready to climb the wall. Were you physically prepared and safe yes, but in your mind, you thought of all the things that could go wrong. You were very out of it, you couldn’t focus and that was making it all worse.
You walked into the silo and looked up. To put it simply, you were screwed.
“Woah!” Chelsea was in awe of how high it went. “Oh, damn. Look at this,” Tanner said as he looked around him. You backed up and ended up hitting Tanner’s chest instead of a wall. “Shit, I’m sorry,” you said and moved away from him. “Hey, no you’re fine. Are you ok?” he asked as he took in the expression on your face. You looked scared and it worried him. “Yeah, yeah. I’m totally ok,” you told him, and just as he was about to say something Alex spoke up.
“Now you guys already know the rules. Whoever makes it the highest is going to be very happy for solos tomorrow. Dakota, Chelsea. You guys wanna go first?” he asked and looked at them expectantly. “Let’s do it,” Chelsea said. “Game on,” Dakota directed at his sister and she said the same thing right back.
They got all hooked up and were ready to go. “Here we go,” Chelsea said as she prepared to climb as high as she could. “No matter how much we hate each other at the end of this, we’re still family,” Dakota turned and pointed at his sister as he spoke. Despite his comment that would usually make you laugh all you could think of was having to climb up there.
“Alright, you guys ready?” Alex asked. “Let’s do it,” Dakota said.
“3,2,1, Climb,” Alex gave them a countdown.
You watched as they both began their ascension of the wall.
“Let’s go,” Tanner encouraged them, and you immediately reached for Alex’s hand. He looked over at you and his gaze softened at the fear on your face. He could feel how scared you were by the shaking of your hand in his. He pulled you close and wrapped his arms around you. Your back was to his chest as he rested his head on your shoulder. “You’re ok, nothing is gonna go wrong I promise you. It’ll be over before you know it, and you won’t have to do it again alright?” he said softly so that only you could hear him. You slowly nodded your head as your eyes stared above you. You held his arms tighter around you. “I need you to answer me ok, talk to me,” he said and you let out a shaky sigh. “I don’t think I can do it,” you said and shut your eyes tightly.
“This is actually not easy,” you heard Chelsea say and you shook your head. “Al, I don’t wanna do this anymore,” you told him fearfully. “Are you sure you don’t wanna try?” he asked just to make sure because he knew how competitive you were and you might regret it later that you never even tried.
“I’m sure, I don’t think I can do it right now,” you breathed out nervously. “That’s ok babe, you don’t have to do it,” he told you and held you tighter. “I’m sorry,” you mumbled. “Don’t be sorry, it’s completely ok sweetheart,” he said and kissed your head softly. You let out a huge sigh of relief and relaxed against him a bit.
“Oh my god, my arms are already losing strength,” you heard Dakota complain and you giggled a bit. You kept silent as you watched your friends climb higher.
“Dakota,” Chelsea spoke to her brother. “What?” He called. “I’m scared,” Chelsea admitted with a nervous chuckle. “I’m scared too,” He retorted. A small smile took its place on your face during the interaction.
“I see some wiggling arms are you getting tired?” Alex asked. You heard Dakota curse as he tried to hold on. “Ok, I’m actually at my strength capacity, I think,” Chelsea said and you squeezed Alex’s arms tighter. “She’s fine babe,” he said and hugged you tighter for a second.
“Ok, I’m calling it,” She announced and you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“Keep going dude, you’re almost halfway there,” She encouraged Dakota.
“You got this Dak,” Alex tried to motivate his friend. “I don’t know if I can go any higher,” Dakota said and made the ultimate decision to make his way back to the ground.
When his feet touched the ground you smiled. “I beat you,” he said to Chelsea and you chuckled. Alex let you go in order to get ready for his turn. “You guys are up next,” Chelsea stated. “Let’s do it,” Tanner said and got to his spot. Dakota, Tanner, and Chelsea looked at you when you stayed in your spot. “Aren’t you coming?” Tanner asked and you gingerly shook your head. “No, I um- I just- I-” Alex spoke up to get you out of having to explain. “She doesn’t want to and that’s fine, she doesn’t have to,” he told them and you smiled thankfully at him.
“Yeah of course, no, that’s fine,” Dakota said and went to stand next to you. He tossed his arm across your shoulders and squeezed you reassuringly. You smiled up at him. “No worries, (y/n), it’s no big deal,” Chelsea said and stood on the other side of you. You leaned your head on her shoulder. “Root for me guys, I’m counting on you,” Tanner said and smiled at you. You chuckled and shook your head at his antics.
“Who do you think’s gonna win?” Alex asked. Chelsea and Dakota looked at each other. ‘Tanner, for sure,” Chelsea said and Dakota agreed playfully. “Screw you guys,” Alex said and you smiled over at him hoping to encourage him. “I believe in you babe,” you said and shot a thumbs up his way. “At least someone is rooting for me,” He said and everyone chuckled.
“Climbers, are you ready?” Dakota asked “Yeah,” Tanner confirmed. “Ready,” Alex spoke up.
“In 5- Go! Go!” His raised voice made you flinch a bit. Immediately they started up the wall and your hand reached out for Chelsea’s.
“Oh, man,” you already heard Alex sigh. “Slow and steady wins the race,” Dakota advised teasingly. “Tanner’s really high up there already,” Alex said and you looked over at him to see that he was in fact very high up. “Tanner, how do you do that?” Alex questioned. “Tanner!” Dakota exclaimed. “He looks like Spider-Man,” Chelsea compared and you chuckled. “Be careful guys,” you called out.
“They’re making us look so weak,” Dakota complained to Chelsea and you giggled. “Well, I think you guys did great,” You said. “At least you did it,” you said softly.
You smiled softly at them and they both gave you a side hug.
“I don’t think I can make it,” Alex spoke up. “You can do it Al!” you tried to keep his spirits up. “Keep going Al, you got this!” Chelsea shouted after you. “Damn, Tanner’s gonna make it to the top,” Dakota said.
Just as he said it Tanner called down. “I did it!” you chuckled and shook your head.
They both came down and you all congratulated Tanner on his victory. You walked over to Alex and wrapped your arms around him. “You did great bub,” you said and smiled up at him. “Thanks, babe,” he said and leaned down to kiss you softly.
Alex walked over and gave Tanner a high-five. “You won,” He said. “You did, fair and square,” Chelsea said and you nodded in agreement. “Alright, no more fun and games. Let’s go read this packet,” Alex announced as you all headed out.
“This was fun. But my forearms are on fire right now,” Tanner said and you chuckled. “Oh, yeah,” Alex agreed and you wrapped your arm around his. Placing a kiss on his shoulder while you walked.
As you walked back out to the RV you began to think about the packet read. You were excited, to be honest, but as per usual there was a bit of fear in you as well.
“Are you guys excited about the packet?” Alex asked and everyone looked at him like he was crazy. “Are you kidding me?” Chelsea asked with a raised eyebrow. “Honestly, I kind of am,” you said and looked up at him. He beamed down at you and kissed your head. “See, at least someone is,” he told them and teasingly stuck his tongue out at them. They all laughed and shook their heads.
“Are you not scared?” Dakota asked you. “Of course I’m scared, but he’s been so excited about it that it kind of has me excited too,” you laughed softly. “You’re crazy. His excitement is scaring me,” Tanner told you and you laughed again.
You all got into the RV and took your seats. The skies had begun to melt into pastel pinks and layers of scarlet. It was your favorite time of the day.
You looked out the window as the clouds melded blue with pink. “You know, this time of day always reminds me of you,” Alex said softly. You peered up at him and smiled. “And why is that?” you asked and reached out to interlace your fingers with his. “I can always find you at a window reading, or just watching at this time of day. It’s your favorite,” he explained and your smile brightened. “Yeah, it is,” you said and reached over to kiss his cheek.
You sat there with your head against his shoulder as the last of the sun’s rays warmed you. He kept you close while he scrolled through his phone, following suit of everyone else for the time being. As the sky grew darker you knew it was time to pick up where you left off.
“You just got to the top like it was nothing,” Dakota said to Tanner. “I wanted the mystery prize,” Tanner explained himself and you laughed. “Well you definitely got it,” you said and reached over to give him a high-five. “I’m pretty curious what this whole prize is, but I’m even more curious as to where we’re going,” Chelsea spoke up and looked at Alex expectantly.
“I have another surprise,” Alex told you all and you sighed heavily. “Are you kidding me? Can you stop?” Tanner asked tiredly. “Really Al, there is no stopping you,” you said and shook your head.
“You’re gonna ruin the word ‘surprise’ for me,” Chelsea told him and you nodded in agreement.
“The spot that I’m taking you guys right now, might bring back some bad memories,” Alex informed you all and you let your head lull back in exhaustion. “What?” everyone questioned. “What do you mean?” you asked him. “I can’t tell you that yet, but we are getting close so I do want all 4 of you guys to go up there if you can and keep your eyes peeled,” Alex told you all.
“Ok, I don’t think 4 will fit up there so I’ll stay back here, just tell me what it is,” you said and let them go up front. “You’ll know it when you see it,” Alex told you all. “I’m incredibly curious,” Chelsea said and made her way to the front. “What the heck are you doing to us, Al?” Dakota questioned. “We are in the middle of nowhere,” Chelsea stated. “This is gonna be terrible isn’t it?” you looked over at your boyfriend for confirmation but he just smiled at you. “I think I see it,” He said and you sighed. “What?” Dakota asked and looked ahead as best as he could.
“Wait a minute,” Chelsea started. “Oh,” Tanner said in shock as he turned back to look at Alex. “Yup,” Alex confirmed. “Wait is that?...” Dakota didn’t finish as Tanner raised his voice.
“Dude! That’s Ashmore!” he exclaimed and your eyes widened. “What the hell? No way!” you said in shock. “It totally is!” Chelsea confirmed.
“It’s been like six, seven years since we’ve been here,” Dakota explained. “A little trip down memory lane,” Alex said and you could’ve sworn your stomach actually sunk.
This place was definitely not the best memory for you. It was your first overnight and you came out of there more scared than you had been before even going in.
“This is the first location me and (y/n) ever slept at,” Chelsea reminded. “I remember it so vividly, it still freaks me out to this day,” You explained and she nodded in acknowledgment.
“This is where it all started,” Dakota pointed out. “None of us ever wanted to come back here, ever,” Tanner spoke and you couldn’t help but agree.
“Alright, here we go,” Alex said as you all got up to exit the RV. “This is not going to be a good night,” you breathed out. Alex placed a hand on your back as you stepped out. “You’ll be fine babe, one step at a time,” he said and kissed the back of your head.
“You guys ready for this?” He asked everyone and turned around to get their reactions. “Oh, holy crap, dude,” Dakota said in awe as he stepped out. “Oh my goodness,” Chelsea said as she looked on at the tall building ahead of her. “I had to see the look on your faces when we pulled up to this place,” Alex said and you chuckled. “Of course, you did,” you said and playfully smacked his shoulder. “I mean it is kind of cool to be back,” Tanner said. “It’s cool, but I’m nervous,” Dakota stated. “I am too,” you said and you both looked at each other with uneasy glances.
“I did dig up some new, and kind of disturbing information about this place. What do you say, we read the packet?” He asked and your shoulders sagged. “This is gonna be so not fun, I am not excited anymore,” you said and everyone chuckled. “I never was,” Chelsea said and you laughed.
You set up the camera and all sat down to read the packet. You shivered a bit from the wind that was blowing. Alex wrapped an around your waist and pulled you closer to him.
“This is a place that has definitely left its mark on all of you,” Alex began. “It’s so crazy how much we’ve grown since the last time we were here,” Chelsea said. “We definitely left with a lot of questions,” You stated. “I’m just curious to see if your new information gives us any answers,” you spoke again.
“I also have another surprise,” Alex stated and you let your head drop to the table in annoyance. “No, stop,” Dakota said. And everyone just begged the questions ‘why?’ and ‘what?’
“When we’re done reading this packet we are going to be going right in,” He said and your eyes widened in shock. “Absolutely not,” You said and waved your hands around in objection. “Absolutely,” Alex came back. You screwed your eyes shut and took a deep breath.
“I should’ve seen this coming,” Dakota said and you just sighed for the millionth time that day.
“Dakota, do you want to open it?” Alex asked and held out the packet. “Here goes nothing,” Dakota said as he began to open it.
“Ashmore Estates,” Chelsea and Dakota read at the same time.
And so it began.

It now made sense why the other crew members were "scheduled" to pack up the gear room. As the Rv returned to its parked position at Cresson. Dakota was the first to leave the Rv so he could go off to film himself talking about the second investigation.
“He has never done this before. Going back to a location for a second night in a row.” Chelsea comments looking over at the rest of us as we were peeking out of the Rv to watch Dakota.
“I mean it makes sense. This place is massive.” Tanner nods his head.
“Did you know about this?” Alex’s question was directed at me. I answered with a shake of my head. “No. I was just told that the rest of the team would handle the pack up. I have a feeling I’m going to be just as involved in this roadtrip as you guys. I don’t think I’m ready to sleep alone here though. Especially since we won’t have flashlights.”
Dakota makes his way back and everyone exits the Rv and we go over the video of the music box, the most memorable moment from the night before. With daytime left everyone grabbed their cameras and we began to check the location out during the day.
We started with Dakota pointing out Administration, which was the closest building to the RV. Followed by Dakota pointing out F-Block which was the location he had placed Tanner in. As a joke Alex points his camera towards the ground, “Chelsea, you were tight down here.” Tanner went with the joke, nodding his head, “Right below us.”
“The daylight is like a false sense of security.” I commented as I walked in the middle of the group towards the children’s ward. “I get exactly what you mean, babe.” Alex agreed from the back of the group.
“So this is where Alex was alone last night.” Dakota explains.
“Do you want to see where I did the knocking experiment?” With a ‘yes’ from Dakota, Alex began to lead the way upstairs. “It’s on the second floor.” He went right up to the door he knocked against the night before and knocked the same way he had the night before. The same knocks we heard mimicked in the basement tunnels. As they began to leave to move on towards the tunnels, I stayed back to get footage of them leaving down the hallway. Dakota was the last to go around the corner to leave and as soon as he was no longer in sight there was the faintest sound.
Tap…Tap.Tap.
I spun around towards the noise that happened behind me to see nothing but the empty hallway. “Hello?” I called out down the hall. “Are you trying to get my attention?” I ask even though my body was telling me to run and catch up with the team. After a moment of waiting for a response I turned back around and began to leave. I chanced one last look over my shoulder and down the end of the hallway a dark mass seemed to be leaning out of one of the doorways blocking the light from the window. My legs moved before I could even fully process what I had seen.
“Alex! Dakota! Guys!” I yelled as I ran down the stairs stumbling over my feet. “(Y/n)?!” Tanner called looking up the staircase from the floor they were on. “Oh my god.” I gasped for air as I tripped down the last few stairs landing in Alex’s hold.
“What happened?” Dakota asked as he took in my panicked state. I pass my camera off to Tanner, running a hand over my face and leaning into Alex for comfort. Alex rubbed his hand in small circles over my back at a pace that I matched my breathing to.
“I.. well okay, so I stayed back to get a shot of all of you leaving. Looked great, but as soon as you,” I pointed at Kota, “left the hallway I heard three like taps. The same rhythm of the knocks.”
“No way.” Chelsea mutters in disbelief.
“So I called out to see if anything would answer and I got nothing. As I was leaving to catch up I looked back over my shoulder,” I mimicked my own movement as I told them what happened. “At the end of the hall it just looked like something was peeking out of one of the rooms.”
“All of the doors but the one I knocked on were closed though.” Alex was puzzled as he remembered all of the doors being closed besides the one.
“I’m just glad that I didn’t hear your voice again up there. I don’t… “ I shivered at the thought before reaching to take the camera back from Tanner.
Alex waited for me to get a comfortable hold on the camera before he took a hold of my hand. “I don’t want you wondering by yourself anymore, or lingering behind.” His worried tone was accompanied by the protective feeling I got as he gave my hand a soft squeeze before raising it to his lips and placing a light kiss against my knuckles. “I don’t plan on leaving your side.”
After a moment's debate if they should go back up the team decides to instead continue down to the tunnels since they were nearly there. Chelsea even admits that she was more terrified of the tunnels now that we have experienced things down there. A door slams, making all of us jump. I press my body against Alex and his arm wrapped securely around my waist. We all looked at the door and tried to open it but there was no give. Dakota declared that it was time to go to the gear room and read the packet for night two.
Four new buildings were chosen to investigate I-Block being the location a serial killer, Joe Kallinger, was house instantly made it onto my no-go list. Hearing Tanner agree with me brought a small smile to my face.  Quick to join was the Chapel. Dakota read about the entity with claws that crawls on the ceiling that follows and watches people.
“Hey guys, remember last night when we were all in the children’s ward and felt like we were being watched?” I reminded them. Alex’s eyes widened and he nodded. “Oh yea. Maybe it was already watching us.”
“We can’t have anything following us on this road trip, Dakota.” Chelsea looks at her brother. Dakota holds up a finger before pointing at me. “(Y/n) learned a few cleansings from Bill and Jay. If I remember correctly she brought everything with.”
I rolled my eyes and popped my hip out in annoyance. “I might have brought the cleansing items but I would prefer not needing to use it.”
Alex finished the first part of his read of E-Block and looked up at Dakota. “Bro, are you setting the girls up to be groped? I would really not like it if a ghost felt up my girlfriend.” I couldn’t stop the giggles that escaped in my attempt not to laugh at my boyfriend. We finished the packet read and prepared for the second night of investigations. I set old batteries to charge and packed some equipment into my bag for later.
As the group split in half Alex was quick to grab my hand and make sure I went with him. He really was serious about me not being at his side. I was placed in between Tanner and Alex as we walked. We were just settling into I-Block when Alex spoke up about still being uneasy about the mimicry spirit, which I completely backed up since I had heard the copied knock as taps just a few hours earlier. Our first stop to investigate was Joseph Kallinger’s cell, which given that it had bars and plexiglass was easy to find. We entered the cell to sit down and Tanner pulled a digital recorder from a pocket in my bag. “We lucked out getting the equipment tech.” Tanner jokes for a moment before focusing on setting up the recorder.
I kept silent letting Alex and Tanner conduct the EVP session. As the EVP we caught began to play my mouth dropped open and I pointed towards the digital recorder. What really made it eerie was the question it followed was about if Kallinger still wants to kill. A quick decision was made to do another EVP session. Tanner was the one asking the questions and while he was asking the questions I felt this uneasy turn in my stomach. After playing back the second session I was confident in the possibility that it was my body reacting to something because the recorder audio cut off and was static for the remainder of the recording till the last second.
The guys began to talk about what just happened and we gathered our things so we could walkie the Ladens and meet up to show him the anomaly that just occurred with the digital recorder. It was only about 10:30, it seemed as if we were barely starting to investigate and already we were meeting up. Tanner passed the device over to Kota. He played the recording and the siblings were just as perplexed as we were about the audio just abruptly cutting out.
From there Tanner, Alex, and I moved on to the second building we would be investigating. We entered the chapel and I instantly felt a cold chill race down my spine. Tanner set up a thermal camera to see if we could catch the entity that climbs around on the ceiling. Alex and I took a seat on one of the front pews. After a few questions it had become clear to us that we may be being watched from the shadows.
A rattle in the distance caught our attention quickly, Alex even jumped slightly in surprise of the noise. “What was that?” Tanner muttered as we all turned to the back of the chapel. “It almost sounded like someone trying to enter a locked door.” I whispered slowly standing from the pew. Alex and Tanner followed my actions so we could go investigate the noise. The third door Alex tried to rattle we found one that made the same noise. Tanner was starting to feel off so we were going to head out to get some air when Dakota walked us to make sure we weren’t messing with them.
The mimic had made it’s presence known in E-Block with the beautiful sound of a music box once again. My body instantly stiffened at the news of the spirit’s arrival to our night 2 investigation. Upon Dakota’s request to join them we quickly left the chapel to go join the siblings in E-Block. We ran the distance between the two locations to get there as soon as we could. Dakota explained the experience of the mimic when we arrived and Tanner brought up a good point, we were told the mimic stayed in the children’s ward but that has been proven very wrong.
I stood in the doorway of the room the team was in listening to them talk about the mimic. Alex was talking about what he thought the mimic was. All this happening before we have to separate and sleep alone, or well almost alone in the case of me and Alex since we for sure would not be splitting up. We returned to the gear room to stock up on the equipment we would need and be using for the night as well as the sleeping location draw. The choices were between; the chapel, E-block, Building 4 (I-Block), and of course the tunnels.
“We know Alex picks the tunnels everytime.” Chels comments.
“You know what. Not this time, babe you pick.” Alex turns to where I was standing just behind him. I let out a silent groan. “Fine.” I pick a balled up piece of paper out and pass it over to Alex for him to read out.
“Oh baby! E-Block! Not the tunnel!” Alex exclaims with a little head bob. His mood quickly shifts as it clicks that we would be staying in E-Block. The same place where Chelsea and Dakota just heard the mimic of the music box. Not to mention it almost felt like the mimic was targeting Alex and I.
Tanner’s instant swearing made my heart drop. He lifted the paper he chose revealing his own handwriting displaying ‘Tunnel’. Chelsea was going to the Chapel and that left Dakota with building 4. I think my heart went out to Tanner the most.
Entering E-Block We went to set up equipment while we were still aloud with a flashlight. We decided on the laser grid due to the reports of shadow figures. With that set up Alex and I sat down on the cot.
“I’m honestly worried about Tanner. I just have this really bad feeling about him being alone down there.” I whisper to Alex leaning my head over to rest it on his shoulder.
“Tanner’s tough, he can handle it and he knows when to back out if it gets too much.” Alex reminds me to comfort my worries.
Eventually we moved to be sitting back to back in efforts to see around the large room. “You know what would be funny to do?” Alex moved, making me shift against him. “Huh?” I looked over my shoulder at him. “Chelsea took the enhanced audio- “
“No! Alex, that's so mean don’t do that.”
Alex instantly laughed when Chels replied in a monotone voice. Her tone alone made me giggle. I shifted, still feeling uneasy. That bad gut feeling was stronger and I wished it was morning already so we could get out of here. So needless to say when the sun began to shine I was ready to pack up and get out. I was practically pulling Alex out of E-Block. We all met up where Tanner was sitting on some stairs outside where he had been sitting since he backed out. He had heard the music box again. When Tanner mentioned feeling threatened I felt my heart drop. We ended the investigation at Cresson Sanatorium and Prison and went to pack up and leave.
“Hey guys before we get on the Rv do you mind if I do a quick cleansing? Just want to shake this place off and make sure we're not taking anything with us to the next place.” I asked the group as we prepared to leave.
“I think that is an amazing idea, darling.” Alex nodded and was quickly followed by other consenting vocalizations. I pulled out one of the cleansing sage bundles that I was given by Jay before lighting it and beginning the cleansing on the team. Alex gave me a knowing smile as he watched me spend a bit extra time cleansing Tanner. I finished with myself before properly disposing of the end of the sage stick and walking to join Alex for the ride. Lips brushed my temple softly. “You are so amazing, I love you.”

You Catch Each Other Staring-Alex Schroeder x Reader
word count:421
warnings: Fluff, more of a blurb, sorry guys
summary: You catch each other staring
Tumblr media
(random gif again sorry guys!)
You were sitting on the couch with your eyes fixed on the tv in front of you. You were watching the newest episode of the show curled up in a blanket. You never went on the road with them and so you always got excited when the episodes finally came out. Alex sat next to you and chuckled at how into it you were, he always found it funny when you jumped and hid under the blanket. He couldn’t help but stare at you as you watched, just thinking of how lucky he was.
He knew what was coming next and tried to hide the smile on his face. It was the Loftus Hall episode and the shadow behind Dakota was about to show up. He saw your fingers grip the blanket as hard as you could and your eyes go wide. “Holy shit, did you see that?” you asked and whipped around to face him to see him already looking at you. “Were you staring at me?” you asked and he chuckled. “I’m not surprised you didn’t notice seeing as how invested you were,” he shrugged and you shook your head. “It was getting good!” you defended yourself and he laughed.
“You’re mean, creeper,” you said and stuck your tongue out at him. “I’m not a creeper, I just like to admire my girlfriend that’s all. That’s not creepy at all,” it was his turn to defend himself and you rolled your eyes. “Sure,” you dragged out and gave him a small grin that you couldn’t hide.
He reached out and grabbed you, pulling you into his side. You let out a yelp at his sudden actions and chuckled when he painted your face with kisses. “You’re gonna be the death of me, I swear,” you joked and he chuckled. “I can proudly say the same,” he said and you smiled before leaning up to place a kiss on his lips softly.
“I guess you’re not a creeper, 'cause that would make me one too… I won’t lie, I stare too,” you said and hid your face in your hands. “No, c’mon don’t hide from me. I wanna see your pretty eyes,” he said and gently pried your hands from your face. “There they are,” he said and let his gaze linger for a while. Your gaze was just as unwavering as his before he leaned down and pressed a kiss on your forehead. “See, staring isn’t so bad is it?” he asked and you laughed softly. “I guess not,”

"One instinctive thing gets pointed out"- Alex Schroeder x Reader
word count:2049
warnings: fluff! language
Summary: "One specific thing you do instinctively in your relationship until someone points it out"
Tumblr media
(gif not mine! again random sorry)
Going out on the road with your best friends was one of your favorite things. You all got to be together and it was one f the things that made you the happiest. The one thing you always missed was time with your boyfriend, just you and him.
You missed the simple things, like those lazy mornings, and comfortable nights just being with each other. Making him watch stupid videos with you, or making stupid videos of your own just for you.
Though there were times when you all got to be together and you cherished them more than anything. You were sitting in the RV with everyone, anxiously waiting for the next stop. You had been the one to choose this time and you were extremely excited. You wanted to take them somewhere that you hadn’t been to yet. You wanted to go to California. (it’s where I’m from, and I’m dying for them to come to check some stuff out. I had to make it Cali I’m sorry)
You were taking them to Preston Castle. It was an old reform school for young boys, you very anxious to take them there seeing as you had always longed to visit. You finally got the chance and you couldn’t be more thrilled. You had talked to Alex about the place multiple times, and so once he found out you knew he would probably tease you a bit later. It was the day of the packet read and you were getting more anxious as time moved forward. You didn’t know how they would feel about it, and it was always nerve-wracking when you let them read what you had put together. You always thought it may not be enough or it may not seem as creepy or cool to them as it seemed to you.
“So are you guys excited or nervous for the packet read?” you asked them all with a grin. “I’m usually terrified by the places you choose and so I’m actually super nervous about it,” Chelsea explained, and you just grinned at her. “Yeah really, you always put together a great packet,” Dakota complimented and you smiled gratefully at him, “Thanks Dakota,”
“I think it’s a bit creepy how you react when we read the packets you put together. It’s like you thrive from our fear,” Tanner explained and you laughed loudly. “What?!” you questioned. “It’s kind of true babe,” Alex said and you looked at him in surprise. “I’m not like that! I just get excited to see what you think about the place!” you explained yourself. “Sure,” Chelsea nodded.
“The sarcasm is much appreciated Chels,” you said and she chuckled.
“It’ll be fun, I promise you guys, and I don’t have anything terrible planned for you so that should be on the upside,” you shrugged and leaned back in your seat.
Alex sat next to you, and so you instinctively leaned toward him just a bit and he placed a kiss on your cheek. It was just something he was used to doing. You would lean toward him and he knew that you wanted a kiss. You didn’t have to say a thing and you barely realized you even did it. Neither of you really noticed it.
Chelsea smiled at the action, she had been noticing it more and more during the road trip. It was just something you naturally did. The first time she noticed it was the first day of the trip.
You had just picked her up and when you all settled into your seats she saw you casually lean closer to Alex and he would place a kiss on your cheek without a second thought.
The second time was at a location,
You were just about to go to sleep for the night and it was your turn to draw a sleeping arrangement. You were standing right next to Alex and so you leaned in and he reached down to kiss your head before you reached into the hat and found out where you were sleeping. And you had actually had luck that night and got the easiest one.
She shook her head thinking about the times she had seen you do that. She thought it was adorable, it was just something you did instinctively and didn’t even think twice about. It was just like breathing to you.
You knew there wasn’t going to be much to do in Ione, California and so you decided that it would be nice to just stop at the park. Stretch your legs and try to settle your nerves before the packet read.
“So, you guys. I know we usually have something extremely cool and fun to do before the packet read, but I thought it might be nice to go to the park. We can walk Maine Street too, get some ice cream and just piss around you know,” you said with a small smile. You were nervous about your idea, but you thought it might be nice to explore a bit, and just have some extra time to mess around with your friends.
They all looked at you and could tell that you were a bit nervous. You always got nervous when it came to proposing your ideas to the group. But they were usually always pretty good so they didn’t understand why.
“That sounds great to me,” Tanner said, and you smiled brightly. “I’d kill for some ice cream right now,” Chels spoke up and you let out an airy chuckle. “I just need to get out of this RV, I think I might die in here,” Dakota quipped and you nodded in agreement. “I just want to breathe fresh air again,” Alex added and you chuckled. “I’m glad you all like the idea!” you exclaimed.
“Now, I just can’t wait to get there,” Dakota said, “Me too! I’ve been dying to come to California,” you said and reached to hold your boyfriend’s hand. He squeezed it and smiled down at you. “I guess we can check it off our list now,” Tanner said. “We can,” you agreed.
You looked out the window and smiled at the sight of the park. “Are you guys ready?” you asked. “I’m more than ready,” Chelsea said. The RV came to a stop and you were the first to get up and out the door. You got out and stepped into the ray of sun, letting your head tilt back and a smile fall on your lips. You let out a sigh of relief at the natural warmth.
Alex stepped out and looked over at you, just admiring you for a few seconds. He made his way over to you and wrapped his arm around your waist. “Hey, Al,” you said and kept your smile as you looked up at him. “Hi babe,” he said and held you a bit tighter.
“So, what’s the plan?” Dakota asked. “Well, my plan wasn’t really anything except do whatever we wanted. So, you have freedom, be wise with it, and don’t forget we have to get ice cream in a little bit,” you said and pointed at them. They chuckled, “I'd never forget the ice cream," Tanner said and you laughed.
"I swear on my life if we don't get at least one picture I'll be so pissed." You said and shook your head.
"It's us, of course, we'll get pictures," Chelsea said and nudged you gently. “Good,” you nudged her back with a smile.
The first thing you spotted was a big tree and it was perfect for climbing. “I know exactly what I’m doing,” you said. “And what is that?” Alex asked. “I’m climbing that big ass tree,” you pointed at it and began your walk towards it. “Shit, not again. You know what happened last time, let’s not repeat that!” Alex called after you. “What happened last time?” Tanner asked. “She fell and literally almost passed out, you should’ve seen the bruise she had. It was insane,” Alex explained. They all began to walk faster, “C’mon (y/n), you don’t need to climb the tree,” Dakota said. “Yes, I do. It beat me last time and it won’t happen again. I’ll be fine I swear,” you said and held your camera out for one of them to take but none of them took it from you. They didn’t want you to climb that tree but you were going to. You sighed and set your camera on the ground before getting yourself ready. You were about to pull yourself up until you felt arms go around your waist to pull you away. “That’s not happening,” Alex said and you sighed heavily. “C’mon, it’ll be fine this time. I’ll be careful I promise,” you said as he set you down but kept his arms around you. You turned around to look at him, “No, babe. Really, now is not the time,” he said, and you looked up at him with sad eyes. “Alright, I won’t,” you said and leaned closer. He gently leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead.
The action almost Chelsea laugh, as she realized how often it occurred.
“How about we go get ice cream instead?” Alex offered an alternative. “Well if I can’t climb the tree we may as well get ice cream now,” you shrugged and went to grab your camera off of the grass. “Alright, let's go,” you said and walked to the small ice cream place you passed to get to the park.
Chelsea looped her arm through yours as you walked. “That lean is cute,” she said quietly and you looked at her in confusion. “What, what lean?” you asked with furrowed brows. “You know when you lean closer to Alex and he kisses you,” she explains. “What?” you ask. “You’ll be sitting next to him and just lean over while looking at your phone and he’ll just kiss your cheek. Do you not even realize you do that?” She asked with surprise. “I didn’t realize that. I mean I know it happens but I don’t pay much mind to it when I do it. I just do it I guess,” you say and smile shyly. “That is so freaking cute,” she said and squeezed your arm. “What’s cute?” Alex asked as he walked alongside you two. “When she leans in and you kiss her cheek. It’s adorable, she doesn’t even think about it, it’s just like a natural thing to do,” she told Alex what she was talking about. “Oh that, yeah I don’t really think twice about it,” he shrugged his shoulders.
“You guys are adorable, seriously,” she said and you blushed softly.
“What are you guys even talking about, you’re so slow,” Dakota had stopped and looked behind him at you all. “It’s nothing,” Chelsea waved it off, but Tanner looked at her, not believing anything she said.
“Sure,” he said, “But seriously hurry up, I want my ice cream,” He said and turned back around to walk into the small shop. Chelsea walked in the door that was being held by Tanner, and you did next, thanking him as you passed by.
When you got to the front of the line to order you looked down at all the options and smiled immediately when you saw your favorite flavor. You explained what you wanted and Alex did the same. You got your ice cream and smiled.
You all decided to go back to the park and sit at one of the benches, “You know, this sun is making it melt way too fucking fast,” Dakota complained and you chuckled. “That’s California,” you said and smiled over at him. You felt someone looking at you and so you looked over to see your boyfriend smiling at you. You once again instinctively leaned over and he placed a kiss on your head, you shut your eyes happily and let yourself lean against him. His arm was wrapped around your shoulder and it made you hum in contentment, Chelsea grinned over at you and shook her head. “That lean is so cute,” she mumbled to herself and chuckled softly without anyone noticing. You grinned over at her, and she just smiled back.
Some things were just too pure to point out more than once.

If You Love Her (love song based)- Alex Schroeder x Reader
word count:3674
Warnings: depression mentioned, fluff,
Summary: Based on song "If You Love Her" by Forest Blakk. all credit and ownership of this song is his obviously.
Alex had proposed to you about a week ago and it seemed to make everything in your body just float. The feeling you get when you fall deeper in love with someone.
Alex had gone out with Dakota, and Tanner while you stayed home. You were honestly very excited to have the house to yourself. It made it all easier for you.
He had been gone for a few hours now and you had gotten busy looking through old photos for the wedding. You wanted to find all of the pictures you had with him and both of your families together, as well as friends. You pulled a box from under your bed and sighed.
Now all you needed was music you grabbed your laptop and turned on your music. It was just a shuffle of the playlist you made that reminded you of Alex.
You smiled as the first song began to play it was “Best Years” by 5 Seconds of Summer. It brought a huge smile to your face as you mulled through the photos.
You picked one up and it made you laugh out loud at the memory. It was a picture of you and his sister, it was one Halloween and you both decided to raid Alex’s closet and go dressed as him for that night. His clothes were big on both of you and you had to roll up the pant legs so that you could walk without tripping. Alex was in hysterics when he saw you two, he absolutely had to take a picture of you two. You both tried to get his look down for the picture and so you decided to get on Katelyn’s shoulders mocking his height. He rolled his eyes before taking the picture.
It was one of your favorite pictures you had, and it never failed to make you smile. You set it aside so you could show it to Alex later and smiled when you turned back to the pictures in front of you.
You pulled out a picture from the pile and saw what it was. It made tears come to your eyes and you had no idea why you had it. It was a picture of you before you had met Alex. You looked so sad, your smile was so fake and you could tell you were struggling after the worst breakup you’d ever had. You looked almost sickly, you had trouble getting out of bed and just getting through the day. You remember you had finally gotten out of the house with your family and when you got home you went straight to your room and stayed there for the rest of the day, and the next. It was brutal, it was extremely dangerous and it made you cry looking back on that time.
You set the picture down and when you wiped your eyes you noticed a photo of you and Alex on the day you got engaged. Alex made sure that one of the guys was there so that they could take pictures, and of course, they were there to capture one of the happiest moments in your life.
His arms were completely around you and your hands held his cheeks, you remember the feeling of the cool metal on your finger compared to the warmth of his skin. Your ring was dainty, a soft rose gold with a simple diamond pattern. It was absolutely beautiful, and it still makes you teary-eyed when you look at it. His forehead rested against yours, no one could tell but he said something to you in that moment. “I just can’t wait for forever with you.”
You were broken out of your thoughts when a specific song came on.
It was the song that explained exactly what you had waited for your entire life. The song that you wished upon before you found Alex. The song you cried to because you felt it was unattainable. The song your father heard you listening to and crying. He walked into your room that night and you ended up telling him everything. Now that song means almost more to him than it does for you. Because that’s what his little girl deserves, and he knew at that moment you longed to be happy and loved. He knew about your dating past and killed him every time to see you so hurt, and hearing you listening to this song and explaining its significance made his heart ache even more for you.
---
Alex walked into the house and called for you but got no response. His eyebrows furrowed and so he walked up the stairs to hear music playing. He peeked in the door and saw you sitting on the floor with pictures around you. He saw you with a picture of just you, and it broke his heart, he could see how much you were going through in that photo and he remembered helping you heal from that. He could tell you were crying but didn’t want to interrupt a moment that you needed to have.
He then saw you picking up a new picture, it was the picture from the day you got engaged and he smiled broadly. He could see a smile form on your face when you looked at it, and then your eyes lit up as you heard the song change. It was a song he had never heard before, and he heard you let out a small cry. He was about to rush over to you but immediately you picked up your phone and called someone.
He sat there by the door just listening and waiting, he wanted to make sure you were ok.
---
“Dad,” you said down the phone with a shaky voice. “Sweetheart what’s wrong?” he asked in a panic. “Nothing, nothing at all. I just--well it’s the- it’s the song dad. It’s playing can you hear it?” you asked. your dad paused for a second before you heard a gasp. “I found him, dad, I finally found him. He’s real, and he wants me, he knows me. He loves me dad.” you cried through the phone.
“I know sweetheart, I’m so proud of you. I know he’ll treat you right, I can see how much you’ve changed for the better and I cannot thank him enough for that honey. I told you, you’d find him.” His voice cracked through the phone, and it only made you cry even more.
Alex had tears in his eyes as he listened to your conversation, and as he listened to the song it made memories play pack in his mind.
---
“Take it
If she gives you her heart don’t you break it
Let your arms be a place she feels safe in
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have”
It had been raining outside all day and every moment you were scared that thunder and lighting would start up. It had always scared you as a kid and that fear carried on through adulthood. Your ex used to laugh at you because of your fear, and so you had never told Alex about it.
Alex had been working on something all day and so you had just been trying to calm your fear. You sat in your room watching your favorite movie and desperately willing the fear to leave.
All of a sudden there was a loud boom of thunder and you let out a loud yelp and jumped.
Alex heard you and immediately got up to check on you.
Your face was buried in the pillow when he walked into the room, and so he made his way over to the bed.
“Babe, are you ok?” you heard your boyfriend ask. You jumped at the sound of his voice and immediately looked up at him trying to act normal. You smiled at him attempting to hide your true feelings.
“I’m fine babe, why?” You ask with the tilt of your head. “I heard you like yelp, you sounded scared what happened?” he asked and reached his hand up to push a strand of hair out of your face. Thunder sounded again and you once again jumped and tightly shut your eyes, as it repeated itself two more times. He saw the tears leaking onto your cheeks and immediately got on the bed next to you so he could hold you. You instinctively wrapped your arms around him and hid your face in his chest. “You’re ok babe, I’ve got you.” He said and kissed your head. You looked up at him with confusion as you were not used to someone being so sweet with you when it came to you getting scared. You were used to being teased and laughed at for your fear.
“You’re not laughing?” you asked in surprise. He looked down at you with shock, “Of course, not. Why would I laugh?” he asked incredulously. “He used to make fun of me for being scared of the thunder…” you explained to him and looked away in embarrassment. “C’mon look at me, it’s ok. I’d never do that, it’s ok to be scared, I’m here. I’d never make you feel that your fear is invalid.” he said and gently moved your face so you would look at him again. You looked in awe at him, not expecting anyone to ever do that for you. “No one has ever said that to me before,” you said with a strained voice. “You’ll never feel that way again. Now c’mere I promise you’ll be ok,” he said and pulled you close again. You buried your face in his chest and for the first time, you finally felt safe.
---
“She always has trouble falling asleep
And she likes to cuddle while under the sheets”
“Al,” you said softly. It was about midnight and you still couldn’t sleep, you always had trouble with that. “(y/n), what’s wrong?” he asked and lazily opened his eyes.
“I’m sorry, I just can’t sleep,” you said quietly reaching up to gently run your fingers through his messy hair. “It’s ok baby,” his voice was groggy and it made you smile. He brought his hand up to slip his hand under your shirt so he could pull you closer. He suddenly pulled the sheets over you two and it made you chuckle. “What are you doing?” you asked timidly. “I’m blocking out the world so it’s just you and me, maybe you’ll sleep better this way,” he said and leaned forward to kiss your forehead. “I love you, Alex,” you said and nuzzled against his neck. He held you tighter. “I love you too babe, try and get some sleep I’ll be right here,” he said sleepily. You could feel his steady breathing and his warmth eventually lulled you to sleep. He smiled when he felt you relax and let himself fall asleep after you.
---
“She loves pop songs and dancing
And bad trash TV
There’s still a few other things
She loves love notes and babies
And loves giving gifts
Has a hard time accepting a good compliment”
You were sitting with the boys and Chelsea, You were dressed in more comfortable clothes knowing they wouldn’t mind. You let out a loud laugh at something that Tanner had just said, and all of a sudden Chelsea spoke up.
“You have always had the cutest laugh (y/n), I swear. It’s so contagious,” she said and you blushed at her words. The boys chuckled. “She’s not wrong.” Dakota shrugged. You looked over at him and just shook your head. “C’mon guys. We all know that’s not true,” you said and waved them off.
“They are nowhere near telling a lie babe, You have the sweetest laugh I’ve ever heard,” Alex said and wrapped his arm around your shoulders to pull you into his side.
“You’re my boyfriend, you have to say that,” you said and shook your head again.
“He really is telling the truth you have an awesome laugh (y/n),” Tanner chimed in, “See, everyone agrees with me. I’m lucky enough to hear it every day,” Alex said and kissed your temple. You blushed and rested your head on his shoulder.
---
“She loves her whole family
And all of her friends
So if you’re the one she lets in
Take it
If she gives you her heart don’t you break it
Let your arms be a place she feels safe in
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you, if you love her
On days when
You feel like the whole world might cave in
Stand side by side and you’ll make it
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you, if you love her like that”
Your depression had been acting up lately and all you could really do is stay in bed. You felt like you could barely movies muscle, anything you did just made you exhausted. You felt like the world was absolutely crumbling and you couldn’t do anything about it.
Alex walked into the room and sighed when he saw you lying there shaking. He knew you were crying and trying not to be loud. “Baby, let’s get you up,” you heard Alex’s voice. You immediately tried to stop your crying. “Not right now Al,” you said softly. He got to the bed and sat down to pull the covers back and away from your face. You looked exhausted and it broke his heart. It brought tears to his eyes to see you like that, it made him feel like his world was crumbling too because you were his world. “Baby please,” he said and rested his hand on your shoulder turning you over to look at him directly. You heard his voice break, and you saw that he had tears in his eyes. You sat up as fast as you could, and it made your head spin but you tried to blink away the dizziness.
“No, no, why are you crying my love, don’t cry,” you frantically reached up to wipe his tears away.
He grabbed your wrists softly, “Let me help you, please. I know you’re hurting and I can’t stand it. Just please let me help you.” he almost begged. Your eyes went wide but you just nodded your head. “Ok, Al, ok,” you said softly and held his hands in yours tightly. “I want you to be ok too Alex. I’ll do anything you need ok. I’m right here.” you said and repositioned yourself so you could sit on your knees and wrap your arms around him tightly. He pulled away and got up from the bed so he could easily pick you up. He let you wrap your arms and legs around him as he carried you to the bathroom. He set you on the cold counter next to the sink. He started the shower and let it get warm, and once it was he helped you in and you of course asked him to join you. He helped you wash your hair and helped you will away the dark clouds that fogged your mind.
A few hours later you had eaten a full meal for the first time in a while, and you were now lying back in bed with a movie playing. Alex was sitting right behind you with his arms around your waist.
He looked down and saw a small but genuine smile on your face and it made his heart begin to fall back into place again. “I promise we’ll make it (y/n),” he said and kissed your head. “We’ll make it,” you repeated and reached down for his hand to bring it up and place a kiss on it.
---
“Kiss her with passion as much as you can
Run your hands through your hair whenever she’s sad
And when she doesn’t notice how pretty she is
Tell her over and over so she never forgets”
“C’mere (y/n),” you heard your boyfriend say and you turned around to face him with a smile.
“Why, what do you want?” You asked with a suspicious smile and raised brow. “Just c’mere,” he said and reached out to you. You hesitantly took his hand and he pulled you close to him. You chuckled when he picked you up and sat you on the counter. “Al, what are you doing?” you laughed. He didn’t say anything, he just placed his hands on your hips and leaned down to kiss you. Your hands reached up to cradle his face before moving your hands to slip into his hair. He sighed into the kiss when you lightly tugged on his hair it made you smile against his lips. He kissed you with as much passion as he could, his hands moved to your waist and held you tightly. The feeling of him holding you like that made you practically melt into him. Unfortunately, you both had to pull away and when you did he saw the bright smile on your face and it made his heart skip a beat. You looked absolutely beautiful, and he knew you had no idea. You never knew how gorgeous you looked and he knew that he would tell you over and over so you’d never forget.
“You’re so beautiful (y/n),” he said softly and placed his hand on your cheek. You looked at him and blushed. “Al, stop it,” you said with a bashful smile. “No, no, I’ll never stop you deserve to know how absolutely gorgeous you are every day. And I swear I’ll tell you over and over so you will never ever forget,” he said and placed his other hand on your other cheek. He could feel how warm your face was and it made him smile. “I love you, Al,” you said softly and reached up to place your hands on his wrists. “I love you too beautiful,”
---
“Take it
If she gives you her heart don’t you break it
Let your arms be a place she feels safe in
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you, if you love her
On days when
You feel like the whole world might cave in
Stand side by side and you’ll make it
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you, if you love her like that
She’ll love you if you love her like that
She’ll love you if you love her
On days when
You feel like the whole world might cave in
Stand side by side and you’ll make it
She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you, if you love her like that”
---
The song ended and the world faded back in. he looked around the door and saw you still sitting there just listening to the music with a smile on your face. You had tears on your cheeks and it took only a few seconds to realize that he did too.
He smiled brightly and quietly got up. He had decided right then that he would go out and get you some things that he knew you loved. Just to show you how much he loved you, so that’s exactly what he did.
He got into his car and typed in some of the lyrics he remembered and eventually came across the song. He turned it on as he headed to your favorite store, making sure to pay attention to every lyric as best as he could.
---
The song ended and you just sat there for a while, your dad had said goodbye and your heart felt so full. You were more than happy that you finally found him, you found Alex and he was your person.
You sat there for a while looking through old pictures trying to find more good ones until you heard the door open. A huge smile came to settle on your face and you got up to rush downstairs and greet your fiancé. You got down the stairs and you were met with (y/f/f), and candy all being held by the love of your life. You looked at him in confusion, but your smile never faded. “What’s all of this for?” you asked with a chuckle. He set the candy on the counter and handed you the flowers, “I just thought you should know how much I love you.” he said and kissed your head. You set the flowers down before wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him in for a kiss. He smiled into the kiss, you pulled away the slightest bit, “I love you more, Al,” you said and he just kissed you again.
He pulled away and let you put the flowers in a vase before he picked you up and spun you around and then carried you up the stairs.
“Alex, what are you doing?” you laughed. “I want to show you something I found today,” he said and smiled at you. He set you down in your room and saw the pictures no neatly sitting on the bed.
“What is it that you wanted to show me?” you asked as he took his phone from his pocket.
All of a sudden a song began to play on his phone and you recognized it immediately. Your eyes went wide. “Wait, where did you hear this?” you asked in surprise. “I saw this really beautiful girl, she was looking at pictures actually,” he said and gestured to the bed. Your eyes widened. “The song was playing and it just, made me realize that I finally found her. I found you.” He said and wrapped his arms around you completely. Your eyes watered at his words, and you placed your arms around his neck. He swayed around the room with you and smiled softly down at you. You looked up at him with such bright eyes, and he could feel how happy you were.
“She’s the best thing that you’ll ever have
She’ll love you if you love her like that.”

Hey guys! surprise lol! I thought you guys might like this little bonus call back from the series! it was super fun to write and I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for sticking with this insanely long series. you are all extremely appreciated! i love you to the moon and to Saturn!-M.G.
Also I cannot find a gif to fit the situation so I am just going to give you a random gif of Alex!
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
You sat in the hotel room with damp hair and one of Alex’s shirts on. You were exhausted from being on the road and going from location to location for weeks especially after Alex’s location pick The Odd Fellows Home. That was the most affected you had ever been and, and you knew Al was just as tired as you were. You sat there on your phone waiting for your boyfriend to get out of the shower so you could watch your crazy TV shows with him. One of your favorite shows was on, it was called My Strange Addiction. You were absolutely hooked on it and you always had new episodes to show your boyfriend. He always loved to watch with you, he thought it was hilarious how invested you got. You would talk to the people on screen, or just completely rant about it to him during commercials. He loved it.
The bathroom door opened up and your boyfriend stepped out into the room, his hair was damp and messy from towel drying it, and he was clad in only sweats. You smiled at the sight of him and he looked over at you feeling your eyes on him. He smiled before walking toward the bed and gently pushed you down until your back hit the white sheets. He crawled over you. You smiled brightly. “Hi.” you said “Hi.” he mirrored your words playfully. He leaned down and placed a kiss on your nose which caused you to scrunch it up and let out a giggle. His heart melted at the sound of your laughter and he pressed kisses all over your face just to hear the sound again. You reached up and held his cheeks so you could bring his lips down to meet yours in a sweet kiss. His lips moved so slowly with yours as your hands moved to run through his messy hair. He pulled away and kissed your nose once more and once more it made you scrunch it up.
He moved so he could lie next to you and hold you close. You were tucked into his side and your arm was lazily slung across his waist.
“And what was all of that for?” you question with a raised brow.
“I just love kissing you,” he said with a Cheshire grin.  Heat rushed to your cheeks at his words and you raised your hands to cover your face. He chuckled and moved into a different position so he could move your hands away from your face. “C’mon don’t be shy babe.” he tried to coax you out of hiding.
He leaned down to press kisses on your hands before grabbing them to gently pry them away from your flushed face.
“There she is. My beautiful girl.” he softly spoke into the small space between you and him.
Your blush became even more visible at his words, and your heart seemed to skip a beat.
“C’mere,” he said and pulled you close to him.
Your head was on his chest as he rested against the plush white pillows of the hotel bed. You tilted your head upward so you could look at him and you smiled when you noticed he was already looking at you.
“Babe, I’ve missed this. I’ve missed you,” you said with sincerity. “I have too.” he agrees.
You reached up and delicately traced the features of his face and moved your thumb to gently swipe across his bottom lip. He held your wrist and pressed a kiss to the pad of your thumb. You could feel his lips quirk up under your touch.
“You know, I have something to ask you,” you said softly. “And what is that?” he asked.
“Have you seen the newest episode of My Strange Addiction?” you asked.
He let his head fall back on the pillow and let a laugh slip past his lips. “what ?” you giggled. He just laughed even more, “What?! It’s an important question!” you defended yourself. “You’re too much sometimes babe.” he joked and smiled broadly down at you. You got up and placed one hand on the other side of his body so you could prop yourself above him. You leaned down and kissed him softly. “So, have you?” you said with a playful grin. He huffed and lightly pushed you off of him while shaking his head.
“No. No, I haven’t,” he admits to you. You grin and get off of the bed to get the remote and turn the TV on. When you find the channel you jump back onto the bed with a giggle of excitement. He looked at you and he could’ve sworn he felt himself fall more in love with you than he already was.
“Why are you smiling at me like that?” you ask with a shy smile. Your voice broke him out of his trance
“Because I’m looking at my beautiful girl,” he said and you blushed.
“My insane, and beautiful girl.” He sat up and reached for you. You let yourself be pulled into his arms and relaxed immediately. You continued to look at each other for a few seconds before you shyly leaned in so you could kiss his cheeks, nose, forehead, and then his lips. He kissed you back as you moved to run your hands through his unruly hair and the soft tendrils through your fingers and his lips on yours made you melt. Right when things got more heated he pulled away from you. You looked at him with annoyance.
“What are you doing?” you asked.
“I want to watch the new episode if you wouldn’t mind,” he said with a wicked grin. He knew exactly what he was doing, he was giving you a taste of your own medicine.
Your jaw dropped. “That is just cruel Schroeder,” you said. He just laughed before tucking you into his body so you could watch the show.
You huffed and mumbled under your breath. “Damn TV show ruined the moment.” he chuckled softly.
After several seconds of pouting, you began to get invested in the show again. “These people just blow my damn mind Al!” you exclaimed while gesturing wildly at the screen. He never did understand how every time he watched this with you he would get just as invested as you did.
“Honestly, what the hell? Drinking gasoline?!” he sounded off. “I know right?! I do not understand these people.” you sighed and leaned back into Alex’s chest.
You tilted your head up so you could look at your boyfriend, he looked so focused on the show and you had to hold back your giggle. You reached up and placed your hand on his cheek to move his face so you could look at him. He let you turn his face and leaned into your touch. You let a smile grow on your face at the way he looked at you.
You pulled him down and pressed your forehead against his and whispered.
“Would you still love me if I drank gasoline?” you questioned in seriousness but a glimmer of playfulness laced your words. He looked down at you in the same seriousness you wore.
“I will always love you, even if you drink gasoline,” he said and you both tried to suppress your smiles and laughter. Soon enough you let your laughter ring out, and that caused Alex to do the same. He moved quickly and now he was hovering over you. You scrunch your nose up when he leaned down to kiss it. "I'll always love you." He said with a smile. You reached your hand up and brushed some loose strands of hair out of his face. "I'll always love you too." You professed and pulled him down so you could kiss him. It was sweet and slow, not having any reason to rush. No heat or desperation.  Just love and security and something you'd never dreamed of having: peace.
He pulled away to the sight of you contentedly smiling with love-hued eyes.
He flipped over so he was now lying next to you once again. "You're the sweetest man I've ever met." You said and looked at him. He felt a blush form on his cheeks and it made you giggle at the rosy color of his skin.
"Why are you laughing at me?" He asked with a shy smile. "Because you're adorable and I love you so damn much." You said and grabbed his hand to place a kiss on it.
He sat up and pulled you with him to place you on his lap. "I have a confession to make." He said with a shy grin.
You leaned in and nudged his nose with yours.
"And what might that be?" You asked softly.
"You're my strange addiction." He whispered playfully. " You look back at him with wide eyes and mock offense on your features. "Oh, so you think I'm strange?" You question.
He tried to hold back his laughter. "Just a little bit." He bit his lip while trying not to smile.
" But you do admit you're addicted to me…" you raised your eyebrows suggestively.
"Of course I am." He said and leaned in to kiss you. His lips were warm just like his cheeks.
You pulled away and spoke against his lips. "Did I ever tell you? That you are my not so strange addiction." Your lips form a silly grin against his. Alex moved his face so his lips could place kisses on your jaw and moved down to your shoulder moving the loose shirt off of your shoulder to press delicate kisses on your skin. You ran your fingers through his and sighed in content.
In the reflection of the mirror, you could see it showed that a new episode had started. This time it was a man who was addicted to eating glass. You gasped softly and ogled at what you were seeing.  Alex took this as a sign to further his affections until your next words floated through the room. "Why does he eat glass?!" You exclaimed. Alex pulled away from you and buried his face in your neck with a sigh.
"Are you kidding me, babe?" He mumbled and he felt a chuckle vibrate through you.
You lifted your hands to his face and brought it up so you could look at him. His hair was disheveled and his lips pink and kiss swollen.
"Hmmm…" you hummed and stroked your thumb over his bottom lip.
"I guess the glass can wait." You said with a smile. His lips formed a big smile as he once again laid you down with every intention to make you lose your focus on anything except for him.
And he did just that.

(gif not mine!)
Waking up on the day of your stay at the Statler was nerve-racking, after hearing about all of the accounts, and not being able to sleep with all of the thoughts running through your mind. So there you were sitting next to Alex with bleary eyes trying to keep yourself from just falling against him and crashing out. Everyone could tell that you were exhausted and it worried them a bit, but they knew you would pull through, you always did. You just needed some coffee, and the day to start instead of just sitting where you were trying to keep your eyes open.
Alex looked over at you and lifted his arm, inviting you to curl up beside him and that is exactly what you did. You looked up at your boyfriend and smiled sleepily, he grinned before leaning down to press a short kiss on your lips then making sure to place one on your nose as well. You sighed in content before letting yourself relax into his hold. Just as Tanner walked into the front of the RV he noticed you and Alex and his heart sunk. He had been in love with you since high school, but you were his best friend and the first person you told that you were dating Alex after loving him for so long. His heart was immediately crushed at the news he got back in Junior year. Seeing you with him now, even more in love than before, was incredibly difficult for him.
Instead of sitting on the couch, he sat at the table trying his best to not think about it anymore. “Are you guys ready for The Statler?” Dakota asked. “Um, no,” Chelsea said and Dakota grinned.
“Tanner? You ready?” he asked him, “To be honest, I’m excited but honestly I’m scared too.” he expressed and Dakota nodded. Alex looked down at you and smiled at how sweet you looked fast asleep next to him. He looked back up when he heard Dakota ask him if he was ready. “No, not really, and I’m sure she’s not either,” he said and once again glanced down at you. “Yeah she looks exhausted, poor thing,” Chelsea said. “She had a hard time sleeping last night, the whole packet read put her on edge pretty badly,” Alex said. “It was a tough one this time,” Dakota said. “I think we should really keep an eye on her tonight,” Alex spoke up again. Tanner nodded his head in agreement. “I think that would be the best idea,” he said.
---
You had been gently shaken awake by your boyfriend who placed a kiss on your cheek when he saw your eyes begin to flutter open. You looked at him groggily and smiled. “Hi,” you mumbled sleepily. “Hey babe,” he said and smiled right back at you. You turned to face everyone to see they all had their cameras out and so you immediately tried to rub the sleep from your eyes and grabbed your camera. “Crap, I’m so sorry guys.” you apologized quickly. “Don’t be sorry, you were exhausted, we’re just glad you got some sleep before tonight,” Tanner said and smiled brightly at you. You smiled back, still with sleep lingering on your features. He couldn’t help but admire you like that, he wanted so badly to wake up to those sleepy eyes and lazy smile. While Alex held the camera with both hands you placed one of yours on his leg comfortingly tracing small patterns. It was always a sweet gesture you made and it never failed to make Alex smile, and Tanner wish he was in his place.
“Okay. we are back on the road. Now we are going to a coffee shop. We’re gonna meet with a lady named Kristie. She is a paranormal investigator, a psychic, and she’s been to the Statler many times.” Dakota explained to everyone what was going to happen that day. You nodded your head in understanding. “Oh, nice,” Tanner said. “Yeah,” Dakota agreed. “I’m excited to see what she has to say.” you said, “It’s definitely gonna be interesting,” Dakota said.
“How are you guys feeling, like, rest-wise?” he asked and you chuckled knowing you had just woken up. “I’m definitely under the weather,” Tanner said and your eyes widened a bit. “Yeah?” Dakota asked. “100% under the weather,” he reaffirmed. You had worry clouding your eyes. You got up from your spot instantly to sit next to Dakota across from Tanner so you could reach over and feel for a temperature. He chuckled at your motherly actions. “No, this isn’t funny. Are you ok? Do you need anything?” you asked with your brows furrowed in concern. He grabbed your hand gently and just held it for a second before setting it down. “I don’t need anything right now ok. Really,” he told you. You looked at him skeptically. “You, swear to tell me if anything changes.” you pointed a finger at him. Everybody chuckled, and he nodded his head. “I swear,” he said and you nodded your head. You leaned back in your seat, still next to Dakota not wanting to be too far from your best friend in case he needed you at all. Alex looked at you with a big smile, you could see how much he loved you just from the way he looked at you and smiled when you did things like what you did with Tanner just then. He loved how loving you were.
You were like that the rest of the day for him, you even offered to go to the hospital with him, but he literally had to tell you no. Were you upset about not getting to go with him because of how worried you were? Yes. Yes, you were.
---
You all got back to the RV after speaking with Kristie and your mind kept wandering to if Tanner was ok or not. Alex could see the worry etched across your face and pulled you close to him. You buried your face in his chest and sighed heavily. “Al, I’m worried,” you told your boyfriend. He could hear the crack in your voice. You had always gotten emotional when the people you loved weren’t at their best, it made you worry and jump to conclusions.
He pulled you away from him a bit so he could wipe a few stray tears from your face. “Baby, he’ll be ok.” Alex comforted you. You looked up at him with glistening eyes and a trembling bottom lip, he placed a hand on your cheek and rested his forehead against yours. “Everything will be ok. He’ll be ok,” he said and pressed a kiss on your lips shortly before moving away to let you completely tuck yourself beside him on the small couch. “I just want- I just want him to feel better you know. I hate seeing any of you guys feeling bad like that, cause I can’t just fix it, I can’t make it go away, I can’t make it better,” you explained as you reached over to hold his hand tightly. Chelsea and Dakota looked over at you and sighed. It was in times like these that they came to realize just how much you loved and cared for them.
Each of you had your cameras out, and the day had begun to settle into a softer evening now.
“I haven’t heard anything from Tanner yet. He’s not answering his phone or anything.” Dakota said and your hand instantly reached out to find Alex’s. Though he was holding the camera he managed as always to hold your hand tightly, while using the other to help steady the camera.
“I have a bad feeling about this, but, I’m hoping he’s gonna be able to make it tonight but…” Chelsea trailed off. “I can’t even imagine not having him with us tonight,” you stated, and everyone nodded in agreement.
“We have to have him, he can’t miss this one. This is the biggest location we’re going to.” Dakota said. “And there’s a chance that he still might come with us right?” Chelsea asked her brother. “Yeah, I still think it’s a 50/50. I don’t really know.” Dakota said. You took a deep breath, and Alex had begun to notice the grip on his hand was so tight. He picked up your hand and placed a kiss on it soothingly. You looked over at him and smiled softly knowing that Alex was there for you.
The sound of a car pulling up quickly drew your attention to the window. “I think that’s him,” Dakota said. You immediately sat up straighter and tried to get a good look out the window, your boyfriend also had to get up and maneuver around to get a good shot out the window. You chuckled a bit at his actions and he looked down at you quickly and smiled at the small giggle that escaped you.
“He doesn’t look good,” Dakota said. “I’m just glad that he’s out of the hospital,” you said and Chelsea agreed with you. “He does not look happy,” Dakota said.
He walked through the door and immediately you were up to greet him. Your arms were around him tightly, and he reciprocated just the same. Seeing how much you cared for him made his heartbeat even faster every time you showed that love and affection. He knew it would only ever be platonic to you but he would savor any amount of time he got to have you close to him like you were right now.
You let go to let him sit down and when he did you reached over to take his hand in yours comfortingly. “So, went to the doctors told them, kind of like, you know, the whole what we’re doing. You know, we’re in abandoned locations it’s dusty all that jazz. There’s black mold in some of these places. So what they decided the smartest thing to do is for me to get an X-ray. So I did two X-rays and, um…” Tanner kind of trailed off and your eyes got wide in fear. You had no idea what you were going to hear him say but it didn’t sound like it would be very good news.
“They gave me a clear bill of health,” he said. You let out a heavy sigh of relief and squeezed his hand tightly. “So you can come tonight?” Dakota asked. “So I can go tonight,” Tanner confirmed.
You shut your eyes tightly and let go of his hand, you could already feel yourself tearing up. You never understood why you got so emotional, but you couldn’t help it.
“Oh my gosh yes!” Chelsea said in relief that Tanner could in fact do the overnight. “I wanted to see if you guys cared or not,” Tanner said. Chelsea leaned against him in a big hug. Everyone had smiles on their faces, and then there was you. Sitting there with shiny eyes and a relief-flooded heart. He looked over at you and saw that you had tears in your eyes. Immediately he got up to pull you into a hug.
“Why are you crying, what’s wrong?” he asked in concern. You held him tighter. “I was so worried, and I’m so glad that you’re ok because I hate seeing you not feel good. I’m so happy you get to come with us, I’m so happy you’re ok.” your voice cracked. He felt his heart hurt just a bit at the fact that you were so worried about him. He knew you cared, but he had no clue it would affect you like it did. “Don’t cry, I’m ok. You know, I’d never miss a location like this one.” he felt you nod and pull away to wipe your tears. “I’m sorry, I just love you guys and hate seeing any of you down and out like that. It breaks my heart,” you told them. He hugged you one last time and you kissed his cheek softly before each of you sat down again. He could feel his face heat up and tried to hide it as best as he could. This was gonna be a long night for him. And little did you know, but it would be an even longer night for you.
---
Here you were after an insanely long night that was not near over yet. You had gotten the 18th floor for your sleeping arrangement and you were absolutely horrified. Your boyfriend got the basement and so the only person you would be able to reach on the walkie was Tanner. Your boyfriend was helping you set up your sleeping arrangement before he went down to his and your stomach was already turning. Before you sat down on your cot you wrapped your arms around him and sighed heavily trying not to break.
“Alex, I’m scared, and I can’t reach you,” you said and held him tightly. “I swear babe, everything will be ok. Tanner is one call away, he would never let anything happen to you especially knowing I’m not here and if he didn’t I would kick his ass,” he said and kissed your head. You looked up at him, you could barely see him but you could tell he was looking down at you. You reached up blindly and your hand landed perfectly on his cheek and you smiled. He leaned down and kissed you softly for a few seconds before pulling away. “You’ll be ok baby. I know it. I love you so much.” he said and kissed you one more time. “I love you too Alex, please be careful here ok,” you said and you felt him nod against your hand.  “I will be.” he kissed your head. You gave him one last hug before he turned to get back on the elevator.
Since he left you felt like you were being watched. You heard what sounded like voices down the hallway, and you could’ve sworn you felt something move by you.
Your breathing got heavier when you heard a crashing sound down the hall. You let out a scream when you heard a scream. You felt tears well up in your eyes and immediately you were on your walkie trying to get ahold of your best friend.
“Tanner,” you spoke with a shaky voice. “(y/n)? Are you ok?” he asked, noticing how shaken you sounded.  “Um, I know- I know it’s a bit early into the night but can you please get up here. Please, I’m really scared, I don’t feel safe at all.” you almost cried through the walkie. Tanner was immediately up with his camera and on his way to the elevator.
“I’m on my way right now, just sit tight ok. I’m almost there,” he told you, trying to keep you calm.
There was a huge crashing sound behind you and it sounded like something falling and hitting the ground hard. You remembered at the end of the hall Dakota and Alex caught a shadow figure who you all assumed to be one of the heart attack victims. You let out a scream when you heard the sound again. Just as Tanner exited the elevator he heard you scream and ran over to you. You were curled in on yourself trying to get away from the things going on around you. You felt someone grab you and you screamed again. “It’s just me. Hey, (y/n), it’s Tanner. Open your eyes, you’re ok. You’re safe.” he said and tried to pry your hands away from your eyes.
Your eyes flew open and you stared wide-eyed at your best friend who was kneeling right in front of you. You wrapped your arms around him, and let some tears fall not knowing how to control your fear at the moment. He held you tightly.
“I keep hearing voices and what sounds like something hitting the floor or something. It’s just all so loud, and it’s everywhere.” you cried to him. He took your face in his hands and wiped your tears as best as you could. “You’re ok now. I won’t let anything hurt you, I promise,” he said and you nodded your head.
“Will you stay with me?” you asked hesitantly. He looked at you and nodded his head. “Of course I will. I won’t leave you,” he said and sat next to you pulling you into his side. You relaxed against your best friend and let out a heavy sigh. He looked down at you and wanted so badly to be able to be the one to kiss you and just take it all away. He wanted to be the one to protect you like this every night, and he couldn’t help but just want to hold you through the whole night until you felt ok again.
He wanted you to love him the way he loved you, but he knew he could never do that to you or Alex.
Through the night, he got what he wanted. He got to hold you until the morning until Alex came to get you. The morning came and when Alex got to your floor he saw that you were sitting there with Tanner. You looked exhausted and scared, and Alex’s heart broke at the sight.
“What happened?” he asked frantically. Tanner and you looked up at the sound of his voice and you immediately stood up and stumbled your way over to him. His stuff is on the floor the second you let yourself fall against him. You knew the night wouldn’t have affected you this much if you were in a good state of mind. Alex knew you were going through so much and you weren’t sleeping well. “Baby, what happened?” he asked gently cradling you against him trying to give you that sense of safety you had been lacking for so long. You felt safe with Tanner, but with Alex, it wasn’t just safety, it was security and love, and a full set of armor guarding you against the world.
You could barely even talk and so Tanner spoke up for you. “She kept hearing things and feeling breezes like someone was just pacing by her. She needed me to stay with her.” Tanner explained to Alex. “Thank you, Tanner. Thank you so much man really. If you weren’t here tonight I don’t know what would’ve happened.” Alex thanked his best friend. He nodded. “Of course, I’m always here for her, and you ok. Whenever,” he told Alex.
You still held onto your boyfriend, reveling in the security his arms gave you. You heard Tanner begin to walk away but you break away from Alex to stop him. “Tanner, wait a second,” you said and tugged on his sleeve. He turned to look at you, and you wrapped your arms around him tightly.
“Thank you for keeping me safe through the night,” you said. And his eyes went wide but he closed them tightly before holding you tighter. “I’d do it again,” he reassured you. You leaned up and kissed his cheek.
He smiled down at you. “Let’s get out of here now huh?” he asked and you nodded hastily. You stepped back to your boyfriend just to see that he had already begun to put your things away so you could carry them out. You went to help him, you grabbed your things from him and you headed to the elevator. You all got on and pressed the button to take you back down. You stood next to your boyfriend, your head was leaning on his shoulder, you finally began to feel a sense of peace.
When you got outside and finished wrapping up, you all got into the RV. you were all ready to move on from that and to say you weren’t excited for what was to come would and wouldn’t be a lie. You were scared and nervous but you were also excited and curious.
You sat curled up next to Alex, already half asleep. He kissed your head and let his lips linger for a while before moving to rest his cheek on the top of your head.  “You’re safe sweet girl, get some sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.” Alex whispered to you and your eyes fluttered fully shut and you relaxed. Your breathing evened out, and he held you securely in his arms making sure you knew you were ok.
Tanner took one last look at you in Alex’s arms and knew he had to just live with the fact that you would never be his. He needed to continue to be happy that you and his best friend are happy together. Knowing you cared for him as you did would have to be enough, and in time it would be.

(gif not mine!)
The RV had taken you, Chels, Tanner, and Dakota into downtown Kansas City, to a place called Blade and Timber.
You looked outside at the front of the building and smiled, excited to get to do the thing you’ve wanted to do for so long. Alex remembered you had said that you wanted to go Axe throwing, and he thought it was the perfect thing for you guys to do while he went to explain his plan and location.
You quickly turned around to face your boyfriend with a huge smile. “You remembered?!” you questioned happily. “Of course I did, I thought it would be a great place for you guys to have some fun before the location,” he explained. Everyone had filed out of the RV and were already headed inside while you wanted to say goodbye to your boyfriend before he left.
“I wish you would come with us, but I know you have things to do.” You said in disappointment. He grabbed your hand and you looked up at him. “Hey, remember what I said, don’t look at the ground, you're too beautiful to hide like that,” he said and pulled you closer. It was just a thing you always did, you never really looked up when you walked or when you were around people unless you were at home or with friends. You were quite shy and you guessed that was just why.
You blushed at his comment.
“Now, as for going with you, after this road trip is over how about we find a place close to home and we can make it date night?” he said with a grin. You smiled and softly laughed. “I would love that. I love doing anything as long as you’re with me,” you said and looked into those eyes you loved so much. “I love you so much,” he said and wrapped his arms around you, and kissed your forehead. You leaned into his touch with a sigh, resting your head against his chest holding him a bit tighter. You loosened your hold and pulled away slightly. You knew he had to go, and it upset you but you knew he wouldn’t be gone long.
You looked up at him with bright eyes and a warm smile, “I guess you should go, get it done quickly and I’ll be waiting I promise.” you said. He smiled back before he leaned down and pressed his lips against yours sweetly. His hands were placed on your cheeks and the little bit of hair he had on his face tickled your skin and made you smile against his lips. He pulled back when he felt you smile. “Why are you smiling?” he asked with a grin. “I just love you.” you profess.
“I love you too,” he said and kissed your nose and lips for a few seconds before pulling away.
“Be safe ok,” you told him. “Me? Sweetheart, I think you better be more careful than I have to be. I don’t want to come back to my girl severely injured by an ax.” he said and you chuckled. “Hey, it may just be an ax-iddent.” you winked and did fingers guns, laughing at your own joke. He looked at you with a quirked brow and a smirk. “Very funny babe,” he said and you just nodded.
“I know right.” he laughed and spoke again.
“But I’m serious be careful, I love you, see you soon babe,” he said before kissing your forehead and walking back to the RV. “Love you too!” you called. The RV drove off, and you made your way inside just to see your friends all getting started. “Hey, you can’t start without me!” you called. Dakota turned his head and stuck his tongue out at you, and you did it back. You were never afraid to be immature around your friends, they made you feel comfortable enough to let yourself go, it was nice to have people who could do that for you.
“Well if you weren’t out there making out with Al, you could have been here when we started,” he said. You huffed. “We were just saying goodbye, excuse you. Which may have consisted of kissing and making puns but that doesn’t matter because I’m here now and I’m going to destroy you all,” you said with a silly grin. Chelsea looked at you. “You and Al are so weird.” she chuckled. You winked at her before looking at the small leaderboard they had set up. They had written out each of your names, and it just so happened to be your turn seeing as you just got there.
Tanner passed the ax to you and you got into position. You had seen a bunch of people do this online and you had seen the basics of it so you thought you would do fairly well.
You stood a good distance from the board and with both hands brought the ax back, you made sure you looked lined up and when you threw the ax forward you let it go when it was at eye level and it landed on the bulls eye. You threw your hands up and shouted in excitement!
“Hell yeah, did you see that?!” you exclaimed as you turned to face the others. Tanner had a huge smile on his face and put his hand up so you could give him a high-five. Chelsea did the same thing and you danced around a little bit in your small victory.
Dakota looked at you with a pout, “What the hell? How is everyone else good at this!” he whined. You chuckled. “Aw, Kota it’s ok. Do you want me to help you?” you teased. Everyone chuckled a bit.
“Oh, shut up.” he waved you off. “No, but seriously. Do you want some help?” you asked him with a smile. He was reluctant you could tell, but he eventually caved and said yes.
You helped him position himself a good distance away and quietly instructed him on how to throw it correctly. You told him when he swung it forward it needed to be at eye level before he let go. You whispered because you didn’t want anyone else knowing your secret. You squeezed his shoulder. “You got this Kota! let’s go!”  you hyped him up.
He did just as you said and he finally landed it in the board. You and he jumped up excitedly. And let out shouts of pride! You high-fived him and pulled him in for a hug. “I told you, you could do it!” you said and smiled at him.
---
After you all got done, the RV pulled back up and you were the first to walk in. You had the biggest grin on your face. Your boyfriend looked at you with a curious smile. “And what is making you smile so much? He asked and pulled you onto his lap. “I won!” you exclaimed and he let out a big laugh, as the others walked in while shaking their heads. “That’s because you’re some magical ax-wielding master,” Tanner said and you chuckled. “Why thank you very much, the high praise is extremely appreciated,” you said and stuck your nose in the air poshly. “Well I’m just glad nobody died, given Dakota’s skills before (y/n) walked in,” Chelsea said with a smile on her face. “Hey, I was not that bad.” he defended himself. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Ok, I was pretty bad but, at least I got better thanks to her.” he pointed at you. “What can I say? I'm a magical ax-wielding master,” you said with a shrug and leaned back against your boyfriend’s chest as he wrapped his arms tightly around you. He placed a kiss on the side of your neck and you laced your fingers with his that were placed on your stomach.
You turned your head so you could look at Alex. “I missed you.” You said softly, he smiled and kissed your cheek. “I missed you too,” he said.
Chelsea looked at you guys dreamily. “You two are so cute,” she said and you turned to look at her with a big smile. “He definitely is,” you said and threw a goofy grin his way. Chelsea chuckled while the other boys rolled their eyes. They were all used to you and Alex being this affectionate and so they had all gotten used to not saying anything about it even if it annoyed them sometimes. Chelsea always thought you were adorable though, and every once in a while she would just outright tell you. It always made you smile, and every time you could feel his arms tighten around you.
“Well, you’re beautiful.” you heard Alex say and it made you blush and look down.
“Hey, don’t look at the ground, look at me,” he said and slid off of his lap and sat next to him so you could fully turn to look at him. “I love you,” he said and leaned down to press his lips against yours for a second before pulling away. Your eyes were still closed and a small smile was placed on your lips. “I love you too,” you said as you opened your eyes. He pulled you closer to his side and you let out a deep breath of content before wrapping your arm around his waist.
The drive went on for a little while longer before your cameras were once again picked up.
“Alex is in the driver’s seat. What do you have planned for us?” Dakota asked the question everyone was wondering. “Where are we headed, sir?” He asked and you chuckled at the term he used.
You sat on the couch next to your boyfriend, your legs were stretched across his lap as you held your camera in both hands.
“Well, first and foremost, we are on our way to Missouri,” he said and your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “We’re going back to Missouri?” you asked at the same time Dakota had asked; “Back to Missouri.”
Chelsea looked at him in confusion. “Missouri?” she asked.
“I thought I picked a really haunted place at Missouri earlier in this trip. What the heck’s there?” Dakota asked.
“You did. But compared to the place I found. It’s weak sauce, bro.” your boyfriend responded. “What the hell, does that mean Al?” you asked with wide eyes. “What the heck could it be?” Dakota questioned. “A fuckin’ portal to hell. I don’t know!” you exclaimed and everyone chuckled at you.
“Alright, I’ll give you a couple things to chew on,” Alex spoke. You sat up straighter and he placed a hand on your leg, tracing small circles on your skin in a comforting manner. You knew from his affection that he knew this was going to worry you.
“First thing is there have been over 10,000 recorded deaths on this property,” he said and you let your head lull back as you sighed heavily. “What the fuck?” you said under your breath. Chels looked at him like he was crazy.
“10,000 deaths?” She asked incredulously.
“What kind of place has 10,000 deaths?” Tanner questions in confusion.
“Is there a historical element you can give us a hint about?” Dakota asked your boyfriend.
You looked at Alex, in anticipation of what his answer would be.
“Secrecy. This place was founded on secrecy,” he revealed. You looked at him with even more confusion in your eyes.
“Ok, babe, is there anywhere we have been that is like this place?” you asked. He looked at you and answered with one word. “No,” he said. He then puts a big smile on his face and turns to look at every one. “Are you guys ready for this?” he asked enthusiastically. You looked at him with wide eyes.
“Are you crazy Alex? No. No, I’m not ready for this,” you said with a bewildered huff. He looked at you with slight worry but covered it up as Tanner spoke up.
“Why would we be excited for your pick?” Tanner asked.
“Fair enough. Chelsea?” he asked her. “No. Not at all, actually.
“Hmm, interesting, no one’s excited for me,” Alex said, and you rolled your eyes. “I’m sure not,” you said to yourself.
“Because I feel like you’ve been carrying this revenge for so long that now you can just totally get back at us,” Chelsea stated.
“Me? Revenge?” Alex questioned with a big smirk on his face.
“We’re all totally screwed,” you said with a heavy sigh. Alex grinned goofily at you and you slapped his shoulder.
“Alex, what are we up to now?” Tanner asked.”Kinda seems like we have been taking a lot of shots at each other throughout this road trip. Is that fair to say?” He said. You shrugged and nodded.
“It’s not wrong,” you said. “That’s very fair to say I think we’ve all put each other through hell.” Dakota expressed.
“And it’s time to put an end to it,” Chelsea exclaimed. You chuckled at her and nodded in agreement.
“Well, we are actually headed to a place where we will literally be taking shots at each other,” Alex explained.
“Oh crap. I know what’s happening,” you stated. Dakota looked at you with a curious smile.
“What are we doing?” he queried. You looked over at your boyfriend to answer his question and confirm your thoughts.
“Right now we are headed to this cool place that I found where we will be playing a few rounds of paintball,” he told you all. You closed your eyes tightly, hating that you knew where he was going.
Tanner laughed. “Are you serious?” he asked. Chelsea just looked disappointed but not at all surprised. “I’m not gonna speak for everyone but I have a feeling we’re at the point of the trip where we do all just want to shoot each other with paintballs. So, I think this is pretty good.” Dakota laid out his feelings.
“I kind of do want to pelt you all with tiny fucking bullets of paint,” you admitted with a laugh. Everyone laughed.
“So, how are we gonna do it?” Tanner asked. “Like is it just a free-for-all?” He asked once again.
“I think we should play in teams. And we will just draw out of a hat for names.” Alex said. “This is gonna be so unfair because one team will have three people.” Chelsea said. You agreed with her. “Yeah, that’s not very even. Maybe I’ll just be on my own team you know, just to myself and whatever team wins you know I’ll lose. I mean I will probably lose anyway, but hey that’s fine with me.” you said with a shrug. “What no! That’s not fair either. That would pretty much be four against one.” Chelsea spoke up. “It’s ok, I’ll be fine. No hard feelings guys, but you know if I win, I’ll get bragging rights for the rest of my life,” you said with a smirk. “We know you would babe, but we’ll work something else out,” Alex told you, and you sighed. “Fine but if nothing works out, know that I am perfectly fine with being on my own,” you said and set your camera down so you could reach forward and grab your boyfriend’s hand that was settled on your leg.
“Alright, well we’ll leave it up to fate then,” Alex said.
“I like that,” Dakota said. “I can hunt me a mean ghost but I can’t shoot a paintball gun,” Dakota said and it made you laugh a bit. “Why are you laughing? You can’t do it either!” Dakota exclaims and it made you laugh even more.
“Dude, I might shoot my own teammate,” Chelsea says and you laugh even harder. “I would too,” you said while trying to get your laughter to die down. Alex looked at you with a big smile on his face, seeing you happy and hearing your laugh was a whole other level of bliss for him. It made him even happier to see you like that.
“I really don’t want Chels, or (y/n) on my team now,” Tanner said and you all laughed.
It wasn’t too much longer that you had to drive, but throughout, you all talked about what you thought would happen.
“Ok, I strongly believe that if me and Chelsea teamed up, we would beat all of you.” You said to everyone with a smirk. They all looked at you with raised brows.
“Are you kidding me?” Alex asked in disbelief. You looked offended. “Hey, I think we’d do really good together. At least we would know that we were each other’s teammates. We wouldn’t shoot each other. After all, we could tell each other apart because we have boobs and you don’t so it would make quite the obvious difference.” you said in defense. Chelsea threw her head back in laughter, while the boys just stared at you. “What? It’s the truth!” you exclaimed with a laugh. “You two. You will be the death of me, I swear.” Tanner said. You winked at Chelsea and a broad smile claimed your lips.
“Ok, but why would you guys win? It’d be 2 against 3,” Dakota said. “Well Kota, to tell you simply we’re just better than you in general, not to mention that we’re more agile too.” you shrugged your shoulders. Alex let out a laugh. “Are you serious? You think you’re agile, babe. You are one of the clumsiest people I’ve ever known.” Your boyfriend stated. You glared at him. “Oh shut up, you’re just jealous because I’m right about us winning,” you said and stuck your tongue out at him. “You know what, that’s it then. We’re going to test this theory of yours. You two will be on a team against us.” Alex declared. You grinned at him and looked to Chelsea for confirmation. She smiled and nodded her head. “We’re going to kick your asses,” Chelsea said and you reached over to give her a high-five.
You all filed out of the RV and walked into the building, you and Chelsea were so ready to beat them. You glanced at each other with big smiles, and you wrapped your arm around her shoulder as you walked. “Are you ready to paint these boys like a fucking piece of printer paper in a first-grade art class?” you asked her. She looked over at you and laughed loudly. “I’m so ready,” she replied, and you laughed as well.
The boys were walking behind you and gave each other a look of slight nervousness. They knew you two were competitive, and in all honesty were a bit afraid of you together. They heard the sound of you and Chelsea laughing and looked at you in confusion. “What are you laughing at?!” Tanner called. All you did was turn your head and wink at them.
“Crap.” Dakota sighed heavily.
“Maybe we should have let her play on her own,” Alex spoke, and the other boys chuckled.
“She may be clumsy, but she has aim. You should’ve seen her throw the ax earlier. I was honestly a bit scared,  man.” Tanner told Alex. “This should be interesting,” Alex said.

Summary: “You’re Shy”
Tumblr media
(gif reused! and still not mine lo!)
You walked into the living room where everybody was sitting waiting to watch the newest episode. You had gone to put on a sweater because you were cold and so you put on one of your favorite sweaters that just so happened to be one of Alex’s sweaters. When they noticed what you were wearing Chelsea smiled broadly and Dakota chuckled. You heard Dakota’s laugh and turned to look at him, and noticed everyone smiling. “What are you guys smiling at?” you asked quietly. “You’re wearing his sweater,” Tanner said. Your cheeks immediately heated and you quickly sat down next to your boyfriend picking up a blanket to cover you quickly.
Alex smiled at you lovingly before wrapping his arm around your shoulder and pulling you close to him. Immediately your eyes fell into focus on your wringing hands, your cheeks were pink and you felt uncomfortable with everyone still looking at you. “Babe, why are you hiding?” Alex whispered to you. “Just shy, You guys know I don’t like to be the center of attention. I’m sorry for using your sweater you can have it back if you want,” you said in a rush and reached down to lift the sweater over your head. He abruptly reached for your hands to stop your actions, “Sweetheart, no, no, no, you don’t have to do that. We just think your cute that’s all, you’re so shy and it’s so sweet. You make me melt when I see you in my clothes. Please don’t take it off,” Alex said quietly and kissed your head. You moved your head to rest against his chest so you wouldn’t have to face the world. “I won’t,” you said and pressed a soft kiss on his chest.
Chelsea looked over at you and Alex and her heart swelled at the sweet sight. “Sorry for making you uncomfortable (y/n/n),” Dakota apologized. You looked up at him shyly and smiled softly. “It’s ok, I’m sorry I get so shy,” you apologized back to everyone. Everyone smiled at you, “It’s ok, now how about we watch the new episode and do some tweeting!” Tanner said. You nodded gently and settled back against Alex again.
The episode began and you pulled your phone out to go on Twitter.
You were going on to the middle of the episode and you had begun to get sleepy. You had no idea how you got sleepy but you did and you were trying to keep your eyes open throughout the show.
“You ok baby?” you heard Alex say and turned your face so he could look at you. He saw how sleepy your eyes looked and he chuckled. “Close your eyes and get some rest,” he said. You looked at him sleepily, “No, I want to watch and tweet with you guys,” you said trying to make yourself seem more awake than you were. He knew you were shy and embarrassed about falling asleep in front of people. “I know you’re just shy to fall asleep out here, but it’s ok really. Remember they’re your friends you’ve known them your whole life,” he whispered to you as to not interrupt the episode. “I’m not just shy to fall asleep out here, I really do want to watch with you guys,” you spoke at the same volume as he did. “C’mere babe,” he said and put you in a more comfortable position so you would fall asleep better. You smiled shyly at the fact that you were currently in his lap now. You hid your face in his neck as if trying to disappear from prying eyes. He felt you tense up and reached up to place a hand on your leg letting his fingers trace patterns soothingly on your skin. “You’re fine ok. No one is going to judge you here, they would never do that to you. I would never let them do that to you, so you can sleep if you want to,” he said and kissed your head. You kissed his neck in appreciation and turned your eyes back to the screen once again trying to keep your eyes open.
Tanner looked over at you and Alex, he smiled at how sweet you two were. Alex saw him looking and smiled at him. Alex knew he wasn’t judging you and it just made him smile even more knowing that he would never do that to you. He just wished you knew that they weren’t judging you.
The next thing he knew he felt you relax, your breathing was even, and he could feel your eyelashes flutter against his neck. The episode had ended and everyone had taken notice of you asleep in Alex’s lap. Chelsea covered her mouth to stop a giggle from escaping at the sight of you so relaxed, she thought it was so sweet, they had never seen you look so comfortable and relaxed in a setting that’s so open. Even though to them it was more of an intimate setting with just them, you were still shy around them. They never took it personally because you were more open with them than you were with anyone else besides Alex.
“She’s so cute,” Chelsea said softly and took out her phone to take a picture. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so relaxed,” Dakota spoke quietly. Alex kissed your head gently enough to keep you asleep.
“She’s always so shy, but I’m so proud of her for coming out of her shell even more with you guys,” he said and Tanner nodded. “We’ve known her our whole lives and we still have so much to learn about her. We know so much, but we also know so little. I’m just happy that we’re getting closer,” Tanner said.
“I am too, I’m excited that you’ll get to know her like I know she wants you to,” Alex said and once again kissed your head. Chelsea carefully made her way over to you and kissed your head softly before telling everyone goodnight. The boys said their goodnights as well, and after they were down the hall Alex carefully picked you up and carried you down the hall. He set you on the bed and smiled at your sleeping figure. “I love you, my shy girl,” he said and went around to his side of the bed before getting in and pulling you closer to him and letting himself fall asleep the feeling of your even breathing.
