Dorm Floor Plan

"I have a floor plan I'm pretty happy with" I said 4 iterations in. This is... maybe seven eight. And three days later. I've just gotta fling this one out, I can't keep nitpicking it.

I'm still not entirely happy with the nook, I probably could have gotten the proper fit if I'd been willing to move the bathroom out (and mirror it over to the other side) but I need to be done with this or I'm going to send myself completely barmy.

fellow tumblrina @dagstar7 passed along a link to a copy they'd made of what may have been the official copy of the dormitory floor plan, unfortunately the source has been lost to the depths of the internet, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was however pretty pleased to discover that my floor plan looked pretty similar, although their copy's nook was slightly more rupee shaped, and their bathroom was flat.

I've assumed a bit of mirroring in the dorm that should be just the other side of Stella's wall judging by the windows and balconies from the outside. (the windows and balconies that really don't work once you start measuring from the inside...)

My last edit was to slim the common room from 5m to 3.5m. I have previously calculated the balcony windows/doors to be at least 4m across, but looking at the space they have I realised it looked pretty similar to one of the main living spaces in my house which is also 3m (and change) across, and it's more than enough space for that.

*Edited the pics as I was typing, just greyed some step lines in the rooms and removed the outer stair line on the nook. The steps in the room are only two deep, but they do have a different colour than the rest of the carpet in the bedrooms, so the original step outlines included that, making it look like there was three steps per room.

Apart from the nook and the bathrooms, the biggest liberty I've taken is centralizing the window in Stella's upstairs room, because her bedroom window is mostly central in her room, the only window above it should be directly above it, and there's just not reasonably enough space between floors for the stairs to wind back and forth for them to come out where they do, unless the stairs are a ladder.

I was actually looking for a shot of someone falling down Stella's stairs when I found the bathroom, because I remembered it happening, and I feel certain I remember a shot looking down the stairs proving they go in a straight line, but the only fall down the stairs I can find is in episode 6.19, which is the new apartments, not the old dorm, and didn't have the angle I remembered.

Here are some older iterations, staring with the one with the "5m" wide common room on the left, and a more squared in version of the nook in blue.

Actually, it's a little weird/interesting, but for the last iteration I actually flipped which way I was viewing the map?

Trivia Tuesday

Who says Trivia Tuesday is only for written works?

I have been putting this off for 3 months but I wanted to share this compilation of my favorite moments from my Daylight video for Griffin x Valtor and do some commentary on them, talk about the process behind this video.

*I chose to overlay the song from the beginning instead of making you listen to the different segments that go with the footage smashed together in a cacophony. Here's the full video if you want to reference which parts of the song correspond to the respective segments.

There is no reason for me to bring this up other than that in the og video the line "you and I drink the poison from the same vine" just so happens to play while this is going on. I swear that was not on purpose. I chose the vine attack against Valtor because of the dark green glow around the stem which looks like Griffin's magic in order to make this more convincing... and then I realized that this moment happened right as that lyric was playing.

This whole segment starting from Griffin and Faragonda and then switching to Valtor in his lonely tower before Griffin contacts him because she wants to talk to him too and can't tear herself away is just so wistful and nostalgic and the music (especially in the actual video) only adds to that vibe. They're both brooding - out of the daylight - because they despise their obsession with each other but still can't help it.

I especially love that he proceeds to break into Alfea to talk to her and she blasts him with a vortex of books because she sensed his presence (I just didn't include that part in this compilation because then I'd have to post the entire video). It is a headcanon that I've had for a while that because they were partners for so long and the Dragon Fire is the most powerful magic which created the whole universe, Griffin has learned to home in on his magical signature because she can distinguish it from anyone else's.

I find this moment utterly hilarious. I don't really have anything else to say about it but I guess I can share the process of picking the dialogue for the video. Valtor's lines were easier to pick because they mostly come from a couple of scenes but I had to scour the entire season 1 (aka every scene with Griffin) to figure out which of Griffin's lines can be useful and then I had to piece together actual conversations from them, the one above being my magnum opus.

I simply enjoy the way I made these two different scenes fit together into one to make it look like his whole "teleporting in your chair" shtick happens right in front of Griffin's and the viewer's eyes. This is why I love video editing!

This one! Oh, this was a legendary moment for me! A whole new step in my video making career. I feel like I unlocked a whole new part of my brain when I realized that I could use the mirror effect to showcase Griffin's spell creating her clone. I have never used the mirror effect before and finding such great application for it that adds to the story (because I wasn't sure my idea with the spell was coming through before I came up with this) was certainly a highlight of my video making process.

Kind of on the other end of the spectrum this is here because I wanted to explain that the vortex is the portal that Griffin opens to sneak back to her office and catch Valtor off guard while he's watching her clone. I wasn't sure all of that was clear but I was running out of ideas, mental energy and remaining seconds from the song so I kind of had to speedrun that if I wanted to fit everything in the video.

I thought Valtor deserved a taste of his own medicine (aka payback for the illusion spell he used on Griffin, Faragonda and Saladin at Light Rock lake). Is this scenario realistic? Mayhaps not. But! Griffin used to study under Lysslis with him so she could have picked up some very convincing illusion magic too!

I'm thinking that perhaps I would have been able to provide more insight into the video and my thoughts on it if I had written this back in January when I could still remember the process of making this but it is what it is. I got to talk about it again and rediscover some of the joys that this particular video brought to me which was fun! And now this post works as a throwback to refresh all our memory on my latest efforts in video making before we see where I go from here.

More Stella that I only finished colouring now

The images are her first transformation, her charmix and just a hair comparison. They’re a little more detailed in some areas because the simpler design was easier on me. I love glitter and kinda went overboard on Charmix. Also there’s some things I want to take a look at again in the future (fairy dust pouch and headband/crown) but for now that’s the design I’ll be using.

Now for some lore ramblings!

The og transformation is kinda how magic manifests in a fairy in reference to personality. It’s simple and not too powerful. The vast majority of fairies just stick with that.

The common second stage in magic development is Charmix which is meant to be the final exam at Alfea as it’s about overcoming a weakness and improving yourself, allowing you to become more in touch with yourself and your magic. (The winx obviously get their Charmix in season 2, leading to them technically having a guaranteed pass in magic class). Charmix allows for access to some minor fairy dust spells that aren’t possible in the beginning stage and spells are stronger. Charmix is the second most popular place to stop magic development.

Fairies and witches in the Winx universe - birth or choice?

The quick answer is: choice. We know thanks to multiple examples that magical creatures are not born fairies or witches. So when you first find out about your powers you are usually neither one of those.

Why usually? Because we have two examples of people who unconsciously made that choice in the series: Bloom and Roxy.

Bloom wanted to be a fairy so bad that when she awakened her powers she straight-up used positive/fairy magic, and that's what Stella perceived her as, a fairy.

Roxy, on the other hand, doesn't really want to be a fairy apparently, but she uses positive energy as well and is thus recognized as a fairy way before her first transformation. Her fairy magic comes from the positive feelings she uses to cast her spells. Plus, Roxy didn't get recognized as a fairy till she was 16, but we know from the comics magic can develop even in toddlers so we don't know when her magic actually manifested, we only know when she started using positive magic.

Magic seems to actually be a spectrum in Winx, with a core of power for each individual, who chooses if they wanna use positive or negative magic, that's pretty much it for the canon magic system.

And before someone says some people are born fairies/witches let me point at the obvious examples of people who chose (Faragonda, Mirta, Selina) and at the beginning of Magical Adventure, where we get a whole ad about young girls choosing one of two schools according to their inclinations.

Now to my headcanon. I doubled down on the spectrum imagery. It all depends on what kind of energy is used to fuel magic, positive or negative, and thus on positive or negative feelings. Fairies and mages use positive energy, witches and wizards use negative energy.

Dark fairies (Dark Bloom, Nebula and her fairies, Tinkerbell) use dark magic fueled by positive energy, light witches use light magic fueled by negative energy.

Note: I consider Nebula a dark fairy as long as she is referred to as fairy of war rather than fairy of peace

Using both energies but not at the same time is referred to as magic bipolarism (aka the character is both a fairy/mage and witch/wizard). This seems to be the case for Mirta given she does switch to Alfea, but she's seen still occasionally using dark magic (Secret Of The Lost Kingdom).

Neutrals, who don't have transformations, balance the two energies and in a way never use either separated from the other. Everyone with powers is born as a neutral and then either their personality or their education pushes them one way or the other, staying neutrals is pretty rare.

My Winx Club Rewrite Random Lore Tidbits: Magix

Just like about everyone else in the fandom right now, I made a Winx Club rewrite. It's 3 chapters in right now and I have plans. There's a chance that I might make a sub-blog or whatever devoted to it (but I doubt I will). If you want to read it, it's "Winx Club: Discovering Magix" on Ao3.

Things are relatively the same from what's shown in the show (and some of the comics) but here's some random lore tidbits.

Magix is the exact center of the Magic Dimension so it acts like the capital.

Magix refers to the center planet and the solar system it is in. This all depends on context, though.

Unia (U) is the universal currency in the Magic Dimension and the only currency on Magix. Other planets have additional currencies unique to themselves. 1 USD is worth 150 Unia.

It used to be an absolute monarchy but recently became a republic.

Magix is home to four schools: Alfea College for Fairies, Cloud Tower College for Witches, Red Fountain College for Specialists, and Beta Academy.

Magix as a planet is pretty small. It has only 1 continent and a plethora of islands.

Most of the planet is generally uninhabited and unexplored.

Timmy is from Magix, more specifically a small town very south of Gloomy Wood Forest. (not shown on the map)

The entrance to the Downlands and underground caverns is southwest of Magix City (not shown on the map).

Pixie Village is hidden somewhere in the western Gloomy Wood Forest.

Magix City has an "old town" district that faces Cloud Tower.

Cloud Tower's mountain range is the school's namesake.

Cloud Tower Mountain is in an eternal storm.

Below is a very poorly made map I constructed, not exactly to scale. The yellow-green spot is Black-Mud Swamp and the dark green is Gloomy-Wood Forest. The dark yellow spots are minor population centers.

Farah was sitting on her desk correcting the third year's tests.

The only thing that could be heard throughout the whole office was the scratch of her pen...

And the low hum of the child painting or drawing laying on the floor.

" Mommy, I'm bored. " The girl whined getting up.

Farah's eyes left Bloom's paper to focus on her five-year-old daughter. " Darling, I am a little preoccupied now, maybe later we can go on a walk ? "

Maria pouted at her. " Why later, when we can do it now ? "

Farah sighed. " Because, dear, we can't do it now. Mommy is working, as you can see. "

Maria looked at her silently thinking for a while. " But Mommy, you always work. And work is boring... I want Mommy. "

Farah sighed again standing on her feet. She walked around her office and kneeled in front of the tiny girl.

She locked eye contact with one of the two cutest ladies in her world. " Sweetheart... Y/N is teaching right now... Why don't we go home, so you could play with your toys and let Mommy do her work ? "

At the sound of her toys, her pretty dolls and huge dollhouse, Maria clapped her hands. " Yes. Please. "

Farah smiled at the tiny girl as she mentioned her to collect her drawings which were left scattered around her desk.

Maria run to collect them happy to return home while Farah gathered all of her paperwork and put it inside her bag.

When Maria had finally put on her pink backpack, she took Farah's hand and they left the headmistress' office.

On their way back to their little house outside Alfea, Maria was jumping singing and Farah was making sure that she wouldn't fall down and get hurt.

After Maria almost slipped off a rock, Farah took the girl in her arms shaking her head.

She already had you, clumsy more than any fairy she had meet, to fall on walls and slip on straight floor; she didn't want little Maria to have taken after you in this.

The girl smiled and started playing with her hair. Your daughter took the opportunity to free hand of Farah's hair from her bun.

Farah just sighed patting the kid's head. 

When they reached their house, Farah unlocked the door and let Maria run to her room to put on her pajamas.

The woman went in the bathroom to release the bun and fix her hair into a high ponytail.

She then entered the living room where she found little Maria already seated in front of her dollhouse.

" Mommy, when will mommy come home ? " The girl inquired looking up at Farah.

The headmistress looked down at her tiny daughter. " Soon enough, sweetie. "

" However, I'm sure that Diana wouldn't like waiting for her tea party to begin, would she ? " Farah said referring to her dolls.

Maria's eyes widened realizing that her mother was right and returned back to the tea party in which she was helping Diana to host it.

The time passed and both of the ladies got soon too preoccupied with their tasks to notice you.

You came in the room, as silent as a ninja, and leaned against the doorframe.

Both of your ladies had their head down; focused on their respective tasks.

" Do you want more tea, Lady Elizabeth ? " Maria whispered as Diana in her one hand turned toward the doll of her other one.

" No, I'm very fine, Lady Diana. " The doll, probably Elizabeth, responded taking a cookie from the table separating them and eating it.

You smiled watching your little angel playing with the brightest smile on her face.

Farah turned toward you noticing that your full attention was directed on the little girl laying on the carpet in front of the fireplace.

She stood up and walked to you.

The headmistress wrapped her arms around your waist resting her head on your shoulder.

Your smile widened feeling your wife's smoothing touch. 

You slowly turned in her arms and locked eye contact with her.

Farah was looking down at you with so much love and care that still had your heart melting after all of these years being together.

Neither of you needed to say the three words, that you've shared so many times before. 

You stepped on your tiptoes and pressed your lips against her in an attempt to transfer all of your love in a single kiss.

Farah kissed you back with the same intention; she loved you so much.

So. So much.

" Ugh ! Mommies ! That's disgusting ! "

The end of school dance was supposed to be fun at Alfea, and it was. Y/N and Sky were voted prom kings and they had a special dance to look forward to and everything was alright until they showed a slideshow of Bloom and gave a heartfelt speech about her noble sacrifice to save the Otherworld from the realm of Darkness by closing it up from the other side and when Sky came to get him for their special dance, the Ice Fairy was shaking as he felt like a panic attack was coming as the room began to get colder and his eyes flashed a dangerous light blue and he wasn't sure what would have happened if Sky hadn't pulled him close into a hug.

"Congratulations, Baby boy. We're kings of the prom." Sky gently said as he massaged his back to help him relax for what was about to happen next. "It's okay. Just let it out." Y/N immediately knew what Sky was referring to. How much pain he's been keeping inside and it was time to let it go. "The real way. The way you've needed to all along."

Y/N held Sky tight as he closed his eyes and nodded his head as he finally let his feelings out in broken sobs. He began to shake violently as tears streamed down his face. How the only reason he was standing here to enjoy this moment with Sky was because his sister sacrificed herself to close the portal to the realm of Darkness and Y/N didn't want to admit that it bothered him, or that he was feeling guilty until this moment as he let it all out.

He continued to cry as Sky held him close as the rest of the Winx suite were crying at how Y/N was feeling, and for their lost member as everyone at Alfea watched the Prince comfort his Fairy boyfriend as he broke down.

Ideas for the Winx rewrite I'll never write because I'm lazy part 1

Bloom's original name, chosen by Oritel and Marion, is Agnis. It was later changed by Mike and Vanessa when they adopted her

I thought about this, and I find it strange that her name on Earth is the same as the one she had on Domino. I would understand if she had a blanket with her name on it, but since it's not the case, it's impossible that Mike and Vanessa knew what her name was, since she couldn't speak. When Domino is restored, she legally changes her name in Agnis Bloom. Oritel and Marion refer to her with the first name, while her friends and her adoptive parents use the latter

The reason behind Brandon and Sky switching places is explained at the end of season 1 instead of mid season 2 I don't think that this needs a comment. Why delaying the explanation? Just say it!

Diaspro disappears after season 3 I don't like this type of drama, so her role as Bloom's "rival" ends after Stella breaks Valtor's spell in 3x09. After that, she's banished from Eraklyon and will never return.

Daphne stays dead One thing that I dislike about season 5 is that they transformed her from a ghost to just a spirit without a body, because 1) it confuses the audience and 2) you can't change a character's story in the middle of the show. But the thing that bothers me the most is that Rainbow no longer wants to talk about death. There's this false idea that children will be "traumatized" if they see death portrayed on screen, or that it's "inaproppriate" to talk abouth these themes in children's cartoons. But guess what? They will discover what death is eventually. Their grandparents might die, or they might hear about a dead person on the news. Yes, death is horrible, but it exist. We don't live in fantasyland, we live in the real world, where sometimes (but not always) bad things happen. You can't hide the bad side of life, kids will experience it, sooner or later. What can you do is warn your children that bad things exist and show how to deal with them. And no, they will not be "traumatized" if they see a character die in a tv show/film. They could be shocked at first, but it will soon pass

Enchantix is the last fairy form My hypothetical rewrite ends with the first movie, and so the other seasons and transformations don't exist

There will be backstories for Flora and Tecna A few years ago some people noted that they were the only ones of the Winx whose background was not stated, so I decided to fix it (I still don't know how to do it, though)

In season 1, Bloom will actually have to regain her powers One thing that bothers me is that, in the last episodes of season one, Bloom discovers that she can't use her powers not because the trix stole them from her, but because she stopped believing in herself. In my rewrite, she sneaks into cloud tower and finds the room where her Dragon Fire is kept, then comes back to Alfea.

Issue Eight: Heart of a Fairy

This would be a really interesting dream to have in the show. Musa being aware that something is kinda up with Riven and not being able to place it, especially in the 4kids version, would have been cool

Go date this charming guy who broke into Alfea to ask you to throw away your entire future for him!" Is so wild ndbdbsbsb

It has been quite a while since there had been a He-fairy walking the corridors of Alfea, sure, Shanks was one of her troublesome students but he had turned out quite the powerful and charismatic fairies out there.

Not to mention, Luffy was the grandchild of a long-time friend of hers.

How many stories? 5, I think it's technically 5. (*and a bit)

The average height of a door is around 2 meters, using my line copy/paste stamping method, I have calculated the bottom of the balconies under the tall windows to be a minimum of 8m high.

Even the tallest classrooms, (USA ceilings 13feet=3.962m) fall short of 4m. There is enough theoretical space for a floor between that.

(even with the thickness of floors which can be between 10 and 30cm.)

Not a full floor, but a mezzanine floor. Or a Partial floor that only covers part of that story. In some episodes we've actually seen Griselda on the mezzanine floor that overlooks one of the classrooms, and given the height of the tall windows, I don't think she's looking down from that floor.

We've also seen in several episodes that both classrooms and hallways have windowed walls on both sides, and some but not all hallways have exceptionally high vaulted ceilings. Along some of the windowed walls there's a ledge which I believe is part of the mezzanine floor.

I actually think there might be 2 mezzanine levels, given the estimated heights. There might be more than just five floors, technically, but that's more about the shifting heights on the floors of the individual stories within the building, than true floors.

In the second picture above, and interior shot of one of Alfea's hallways, in the background we can see an elevation of several steps up. Even outside, the double doors at the center of the verandahs are slightly elevated from the rest of the walkway by several steps.

So within the mirrored buildings I think the stories/floors are primarily divided like:

I genuinely believe they Did Not Have a Floor Plan when they made the series. Maybe I should start a tag just to complain about all the times it broke me.

Masterlist

Bloom is kind, quiet, and reserved, but hot-headed. She’s quick to socialize when given the chance, but for the most part she isn’t approached. Her closed off appearance, and messy, spiky red hair usually wards people off. So pre-Alfea, she tends to spend time alone drawing and taking walks, or helping her mother out at her flower shop.

She tends to be an over-thinker and quite emotional, but her negative feelings often blow over into anger or annoyance pushing her to take time for herself. At the beginning of the series she tends to be quite immature, not taking time to resolve conflicts and instead choosing to ignore it or blame others. Despite that, she has a strong knack for calling people out, often speaking harsh truths when it’s needed most.

As a kid she was always told stories about fairies, dragons, and knights by her father. But despite her father long since stopping in telling such bedtime stories, glimpses of fairies and peculiar encounters kept her belief strong even though she’s 16 years old. In school, this passionate belief would often get her in trouble with teachers or bullied by her peers. She doesn’t openly tell people her beliefs anymore, but some of her childhood classmates still make fun of her for it, like Mitzi.

Growing up she didn’t have that many friends, especially not close ones. Except for Selina, who was the only one who also believed in such fairytales. But a sudden move would cut their friendship short. And her first boyfriend, Andy, had drifted away when he began to focus on his music more than her. Near the end of 8th grade she was given Kiko; she’s had him for about 3 years now.

When she first met Stella, they were attacked by Knut and it awakened something in her. Before she was sent to Earth, Daphne cast a rune on her so Bloom’s powers nor her natural features would come into fruition. Not unless broken, whether magically or physically. And it just so happens tons of concrete fell on top of her.

After she finds out about her true origins, she questioned whether or not she should find her parents. To which she concludes it’s best left alone, that is, until her sister Daphne dies. And with her last breath, she told Bloom to find their parents.

Trivia & headcanons.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Other than being a powerful fairy, Bloom still wants to be a well-known artist. Eventually moving from pencils & water-based markers to sculpting and painting. Making statues that are cleverly engineered to move, spreading magic through more sentimental means. Even though she cannot sculpt and can barely paint.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Lilith’s earliest appearance is in Sumeria (and the mythology I’m specifically referencing, not Lilith in the bible). She’s identified as a wind spirit, which Bloom originally was going to be fairy of. She’s described as a wild, free spirit/ She also has an affinity for dragons, which of one she owns and can manifest into.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ T’ai Shan is a referenes to the Green Jade Mother in chinese myth, the Jade Emperor’s sister, who is also known as the Old Lady of T’ai Shan, which is her sacred mountain.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ She’d love to train with the specialists since she’s always loved knights and sword-fighting.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Bloom hates how spikey and crazy her hair is.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Some of her extended family on her mother’s side have or had red hair, freckles, and blue eyes so she didn’t question why she didn’t look like her parents.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Bloom loved the feeling of being Dark Bloom / Gloom, but hated the mindset, the lack of self-control, and her impulsiveness. In some ways she misses being Dark Bloom, and she hates that she misses her.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ She’s bisexual with a preference for women, which she discovers while at Alfea.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ Her first crush and rejection was Selina. Bloom thought it was her confession that made Selina move away.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ She was born with black fingernails that grow quickly.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ After her first transformation, her dragon features became permanent. She loves how unique they are but hate how creepy her eyes can be. For a while, her friends and even her boyfriend would avoid eye contact with her. The only people that looked her in the eye was Faragonda & Icy.

ᖭི༏ᖫྀ After Diaspro and her makeup, Diaspro developed a fat crush on Bloom and would constantly follow her around. At first Bloom thought it was cute but then it got really annoying. It did help her realize she preferred women though.

Big Damn Meta/Headcanon on Religion in Fate: The Winx Saga

ok, here goes:

I think there are multiple religions represented in Fate and it's perfectly reasonable to say that different characters would have different takes on religion informed by where their families came from originally. So:

There is a cross in the graveyard at Alfea. Obviously, then, given Farah is the one who creates that graveyard as far as we know, Farah is either Christian or believes that the people she's burying there would have been. This seems incongruous and Christian-normative. HOWEVER:

Saul Silva is one of those names that is loaded with interesting backstory. Silva's pretty obviously either Spanish or Portuguese but Saul. SAUL. That's a very Jewish name attached to that Iberian last name. I'm not sure how much you know about Jewish history and to be honest, I'm not any kind of expert, but I do know that there was a large Jewish community in Spain at one time, before the Inquisition became a thing. Once that happened, a lot of Jewish people fled Spain to Portugal. A lot of the people who fled proceeded to ditch their previous names that they had taken to fit in in favor of more blatantly Jewish names as a fuck you to Spain and persecution.

Point the Third: The inhabitants of the Otherworld refer to it as The Otherworld and the First World as, well - the First World. Think about that for a minute. Why do they call it that?

I think that at some point, it wasn't uncommon at all for people to go from the First World to the Otherworld. I think there are probably families who have never been to the First World and have no ancestors who came from there; see also Luna of Solaria and Andreas of Eraklyon, no last names, no ties to the First World at all. And then I think there are probably transplants, and the people descended from those transplants, and people whose families are a mix of both, because that's how things happen in real life. I think Saul's family probably fled persecution in the First World and somehow ended up in the Otherworld and never went back, because why would they, and maybe Farah's family did the same, and then the Otherworld probably has its own ideas about religion, maybe involving solstices and that kind of thing since we ARE dealing with fairies here.

The group of 5 split up, you heading outside to face the scrappers head on while the rest headed for the tunnels were their individual teams were waiting. You stood outside, dual swords in your hands and tilted your head towards the scrappers you heard chittering towards you. As they passed the corner, you stood on the opposite side of the corridor, simply glaring at them. For a moment, they simply looked at you before each scuttled towards you, you cutting them left to right. Few had bitten you and with the little fairy magic within them, you gained some powers like that of mind and fire magic. 

On each side of the school, the other squad leaders began ordering the fairies, specialists and blood witches. Specialists and Blood witches were leading, the blood witches manoeuvring the controlled specialist out of the way, knocking them unconscious while the specialist stabbed and fought their way into the school. The fairies stood slightly behind, the mind fairies helping their specialists against the blood witches while the others worked together to destroy as many scrappers that they came across.

Cathán was stood outside with his team when Silva and his specialists returned to Alfea. They had gone around the school but were outnumbered and retreated.

“Right. Listen up. The Blood Witches were waiting for us, so we've had to fall back. We're gonna stay here and regroup until the Solarians come.” He heard Silva command.

“But Musa's still in there. So's Flora.” Riven protested.

“Yeah, he's right, we should go now...” Sky agreed with Riven.

“It's not up for debate, okay? So let's keep busy until then. Move out.” Silva replied, when Cathán spoke up.

“If there is any fairy still in there, with magic or not, they’ll be getting out soon.”

“Cathán? What are you doing here?” Silva asked, confused. “The Solarians aren’t here yet.”

“I’m not here with the Solarians. Or Valtor.” Cathán clarified as Silva held a sword to his neck. “My superior assigned 8 separate teams to infiltrate Alfea.”

Meanwhile, Flora sat in the cold basement, surrounded by the bloodied bodies of other fairies attacked by scrappers. 

“They haven't taken anyone in a while. Maybe it's over.” One of the fire fairies said, shaking his leg as he sat next to Flora. 

“It's not. Just sit tight.” Flora replied tensely.

“And wait to get plucked out like lobsters?” He snarked.

“I'm not dying to be food either. We can't afford to do anything stupid. My friends will come.” Flora glared at him.

“I'm going.” He said, standing up.

“Just don't use your magic. I think scrapers can sense...”

“Yeah, I've got it, but thanks.” The fairy stated, as he lit his hand up. “See? There's nothing.”

“Nick. Nick, come back into the light. Nick, don't be an idiot!” Flora urged him to return when she heard Nick scream. Footsteps entered the basement where the fairies were caught and Fallon walked in, his team spreading out.

“Amber, Jace, Cameron. Get the worst out the tunnel, we have medical not too far from here.” Fallon ordered, the ones in question nodded as their team blood witches checked over the bodies, assigning medical priority. Fallon then noticed Flora from the descriptions Virgil and Adara had given of the Winx suite and walked up to her. “Flora, right?”

“Yeah?” Flora asked, confused. Fallon reached a hand before pulling her up. “Do you know what Bloom and the others are planning?”

“...No.” Flora replied after a short pause that did not go unnoticed.

“Flora. This is not a game. This is war and people’s lives are at stake. It is much higher stakes than you realise.” Fallon scolded. “So tell me what you know.”

Flora soon broke under Fallon’s harsh gaze, telling him Bloom’s plans. With a solemn nod, Fallon called you to give you a heads-up. You answered, panting softly, your swords dripping with blood and blood spatter all over you.  You nodded, thanking Fallon for the information before you headed for the hall where Sebastian and Bloom were standing, Sky trapped in vines from the balcony.

“Course not. But I wonder if they'd make the same effort if they knew how relieved you are to be giving it up.” You heard from the corridor as you walked towards them.

“You think if I had a choice, I wouldn't...” Bloom scoffed, but you hear her heart wasn’t really in it.

“Don't be ashamed, Bloom. You're a teenager. You should be allowed to be a teenager. Spend time with your friends. With your boyfriend. I know what it's like to miss out on all of that because you're dealing with shit that's bigger than you. Nobody gets to have a normal life when the Dragon Flame is involved, and a normal life is all your mum ever wanted for you.” Sebastian stated.

“Are you taunting me? You won. You're getting everything you wanted...” Bloom asked, offended. You walked inside, going unnoticed. You watched the interaction before you with a clenched jaw.

“I didn't mean to taunt. I didn't.” Sebastian backtracked slightly.

“So then tell me. Tell me about my mom, where I came from.” Bloom urged Sebastian. 

“Stalling for time, is it?” Sebastian asked.

“You can read my thoughts. You really think I don't wanna know?” Bloom asked rhetorically. Sebastian began to open his mouth in response before the sound of a slow clap echoed through the hall.

“Well done, Bloom.” You spoke out, sarcasm dripping. “You have no idea what you’ve done. You started a fucking war!”

“Y/N?” Bloom asked, looking at you. Sebastian speaking over her,

“Little cousin?”

“You’re Sebastian’s cousin. You’re a blood witch. You’re on his side.” Bloom gasped as she remembered what happened in ‘First World Goods’.

“2 out of the 3 is not bad.” You replied coldly, before spinning around and slicing the vines that held Sky. Sky began to fall to the ground, Bloom screaming out. Vines suddenly slowed his fall, allowing him to hit the floor gently.

“Sky! Sky!” Bloom called out, tapping his face. His eyes opened slowly, seeing the face of Bloom before asking,

“Y/N?” You didn’t reply, only waving a hand out, vines growing from the wall and holding Bloom and Sebastian both back.

“What are you doing?” They both yelled out in shock.

“You have no idea of the magnitude of what you have done. Either of you!” You yelled, eyes blazing. “There are children out there! Children who would have had to fight because you are both so fucking pathetic!”

“Hey! I am not pathetic!” Bloom shouted, Sebastian simply looking at you.

“You, Bloom Peters. Willing to give up everything for one piece of information about your biological mother! You have fucking parents! Parents that love you and now you want more!” You spat.

“She’s my mother!” Bloom insisted, trying to make you understand.

“You already fucking have one!” You exclaimed, holding your bloody sword at her neck.

“You know what? You’re a fucking traitor! There’s no point in trying..” Bloom scoffed, the sword at her neck now touching her throat.

“Shut. Up!” You yelled through gritted teeth. “Blood witches don’t always have a choice you know. And fairies are just as fucking bad! Clearly none of you care about the consequences of your actions!”

“What do you care?”

“I care because there are children involved. Innocent children.” You stated, now moving away from Bloom. You noticed Bloom about to smirk and quickly burst her bubble. “You’re not a child, Bloom. Hold yourself accountable! You killed Rosalind Hale.”

“It was self-defence.” 

“No. Self-defence would be burning her slightly. Self-defence is not burning her to a fucking crisp and saying ‘I lost control’ after you were told, repeatedly, to safely put your magic inside the convergence crystal!” You glared, before asking Bloom another question. “Tell me. What was the plan when you went to Rosalind? Hmm? Make her pay? Cause that is still second-degree murder!”

Unknown to you, Riven and Saul had walked inside the hall, seeing Sky on the floor. Behind them, Cathán had his team scout around making sure all of Sebastian’s blood witches were down. He then had two of the fairies escort Sky to the med base they had set up. 

All of a sudden, Sebastian chuckled, drawing your gaze towards him.

“You have no idea...”

“What you’ve done? That conduit to the Realm of Darkness of yours is closing as we speak. Around 10 particularly strong blood witches are shutting it down... For good. I mean I would have. But I had some business to take care of.”

“No!” Sebastian yelled. You simply smirked in response. Footsteps coming from behind you had you turning your head. Behind you, you saw Brooklyn, Dawn, Aella, Ezekiel, Adara and Virgil standing in an upside down V formation with you at the point and Adara and Virgil standing on each side, slightly behind you.

“Now then, Sebastian. You may be strong. But are you strong than me? And 6 transformed fairies?” You taunted, releasing him from the vines that held him to the wall. The fairies stood around him, holding a hand before them and pushed their magic into him. Before the first blast could hit him, he raised a shield using some lightning from the air magic he still had left. Another blast came his way and another. He was soon overwhelmed by the magic attacking him and his shield began to drop allowing the last blast to hit his straight on. His eyes caught you, tears welling in his own as he realised his end, and you looked cooly back. He then disintegrated, your words echoing in his mind. “Goodbye, cousin.”

With that, the group slowed their magic, Virgil getting Bloom down from the vines. You simply looked at her before deciding to be leinent towards her... after Virgil and Adara’s collected glares. The other fairies had left afterwards heading back to their squads and checking in with medical.

“You want to know about your mother...” You waited for Bloom to nod before continuing. “She had the Dragon Flame like you -”

“I thought it only existed 1,000 years ago.” Bloom interrupted, your glare going unnoticed.

“No. It was just in stasis for 1,000 years. Because you were in stasis for 1,000 years as a baby.” 

“So, I was... I was born 1,000 ye... years ago? In the middle of an ancient war. That's...” 

“Your biological mother and the Dragon Flame were the ‘heroes’ of that war until she lost control and thousands died. She was wracked with guilt for what she'd done, for passing the burden on to you. She couldn't fathom you going down the same path, so, the day you were born, she put you in stasis and she put herself in the Realm of Darkness.”

“What?! But you destroyed the portal! I could have met my mother!”

“Wow! Do you have any idea what the conduit would do?! There's an entity in the Realm of Darkness. Shadow. It can raise the dead. Sebastian wanted to bring everyone from Aster Dell back to life. Only, last time it happened, it nearly destroyed the Otherworld! Are you willing enough to be the cause of thousands if not millions because you want to meet your biological mother when you have two parents at home waiting for you?!” You scoffed before explaining the harsh reality to a now trembling Bloom.

Shaking your head, you left Bloom in the hall before heading towards the medical bay, Virgil and Adara following behind you. As you entered the tent, you asked some of the doctors how it was.

“Most of the fairies are getting their magic back but there will be a number of scars.” The doctor replied.

“Fatalities?” Virgil asked, as he looked around.

“A lot less than if you hadn’t come to help. 9 fairies and around 5 specialists.” The doctor explained.

“Thank you.” You said, nodding in gratitude.

“No problem.” The doctor replied before the three of you left for the safe house. After an hour of driving through abandoned woods, you stepped out to a large house, child’s laughter and shrieks echoing around. The three of you looked at each other before chuckling softly and knocking on the front door. It opened to a pair of twins, who then broke out into wide smiles.

“You’re back! Guys! V, Ad, and Y/N/N are back!” The twins yelled out, hugging the trio. Soon the sound of running footsteps were heard as more children ran up to them, tackling them to the floor. The trio looked at each other, around the children they were cradling in their arms, before whispering,

“For the children.”

How did the second season of Fate The Winx Saga disappoint you?

For the record I just want to note this is my first ever unprompted ask, so thank you anon! I am super excited to answer this!

I have a few thoughts so best I put them under a cut.

SO.

First things first, I’m going to try and steer away from talking about what I wanted to see happen. If you want to know what I think should have happened, you can read the 150k+ words I have written about it via my fics on AO3 (links are in my pinned post). Instead, I’ll just focus on things that were not well explained, contradicted and/or completely ignored from one season to the next (which I may have covered in my fics). My disappointment therefore lies in loose ends. Also note, I’ve only watched it through in its entirety once and that was the day it was released. My exposure since then has been piecemeal.

Burned Ones S01E06 Rosalind said there were a “shit ton”. Then S02E01 apparently they all just disappeared and no one worried about them anymore. Where did they go?

Blood witches In S01E06 Rosalind says two things: “one of the fundamental tenets of the Otherworld is that only fairies can do magic” and “they [blood witches] were humans who drew on sacrifice and death”. And yet S02 would have us believe that blood witches had the element of blood insinuating that, like fairies, they are born with it. So I guess they’re not humans who drew on sacrifice and death?? Are they instead fairies with an image/branding problem?

Aster Dell It was a massive deal that it was being covered up in S01, and then in S02 it wasn’t. Also, did everyone forget that Luna, queen of a realm, covered up the genocide perpetrated there? Pretty sure Bloom could have whipped out that little nugget at her tribunal to blackmail the Queen.

Rosalind So much foreshadowing: “Rosalind kept many secrets.” “Even now she’s manipulating you.” “Rosalind trained us hard.” “I’ve still got the scars.” And then the secret she was keeping was for a mayor of a tiny town? And she also doesn’t care about Burned Ones anymore??

The Dragon Flame I posted about it previously but Farah had no clue about it in S01, but in S02 EVERYONE knew about the legend. So the ‘big secret’ that carried in S01 just… I don’t know, fizzled, so the story could focus on blood witches and scrapers, only to pivot back to it at the very end again.

No one cared about Andreas dying Self-explanatory.

They’re just a couple of things. I also don’t ship anyone, and I don’t really care much for the teenagers, so it’s no big deal about who got with or didn’t get with who, but I wasn’t a fan of how they treated Ben in S02.

Oh one more thing, I found the reference to Tobian rock snails disingenuous. There’s been a season and a half of the show and that’s how they decide to worldbuild beyond Alfea, by saying Kat eats weird shit from her home realm?

I better leave it there. Reading this you may wonder whether I liked the show at all, but I really did! Or perhaps, maybe I just liked where it allowed my own imagination to go 🤔 Anyway, guess my thoughts on that are for another time 😄
