Hey so you know how 23andme and Ancestry dna tests are a scam and you definitely shouldn’t do them? Well there’s a better way! Join the All of Us research program.

All of Us is a long term, ongoing research project conducted by the Mayo Clinic (in conjunction with health providers across the US) to collect health data from all walks of life in order to have medical education, tools, and practices that apply to a more diverse group of people. As you may know, medical education, while getting better, is still largely focused on best practices for white, able-bodied, thin, cisgender men and boys. The All of Us program aims to broaden the field of medicine to include all bodies.

If you participate, the results of any tests they run on you are shared with you (with your consent, you can also opt out for any results you don’t want to see). This includes questionnaires, physical exams, data from fitness devices, or DNA collection. They do a fantastic job of explaining my the process and purpose of every test to be sure you know what you’re consenting to, and they will even re-establish consent for the same tests in some cases.

I got info on my ancestry, genetic health risks, and I got a free physical exam out of it! None of this can be used for diagnostic purposes of course, due to being used for research, but still. I highly recommend joining! It’s really easy and you only contribute what you want to.

AKA: literally click any ao3 username, "bookmarks" should appear towards the top of the resulting page. You can then voyage into the additionally wonderful waters of filtering by length, "recommended", fandom, etc.

Also: if the fic you like is in collections, try checking them out, especially if the title appeals to you. Can be a great way to find essentially a fic playlist.

This may be a long shot but does anyone here know about free (or cheap) programs that will let you create text on a curved/round path? Think the sort of text you'd see going around the edge of a round pinback button.

I'm a Clip Studio Paint user so the text tool I have is pretty primitive 😔

it drives me nuts how much suffering we force people to go through to meet some arbitrary idealized standard vs something that'd actually help. they're making my 60 yr old mom with fibro take pain management classes because they're too scared to put her on the prescription pain meds that she was already on before. i just read about someone with adhd talking about how the only med that works really well for them without making them depressed when it wears off or causing anxiety is desoxyn but doctors are too afraid to prescribe it to them because it's technically methamphetamine. the drug war is a complete burden on society

it just wasn't for me! it's an underdeveloped discipline in my country, so no one really knows what a "criminologist" is, and i don't care enough to prove myself. i'd rather do something else anyway

but if it's something you have a genuine interest in, then by all means, do pursue it! it's tough, but if you have motivation, you can absolutely excel in this field 💜

bad news: Seems like my 100+ hours of playing Bloodborne and Elden Ring are lost, because my save data is on Russian PS4 account and to copy it even on USB I need PS+, that I can't buy on Russian account. Stuck in the loop 👍

good news: At least I never got Rakuyo, so I don't have to dread having to fight Shark Giants for a second time

good news: I got a clue on how to get Save Wizard, that might not only let me to access non-hostile models of bosses and cut enemies at any time and DROWN in reference screenshots, but also seems like it COULD help me to save my progress from the doomed account? Hi! just wanted to let you know that bird set free is so wonderful that I am unable to read anything else. Your talent is a blessing and a curse.

I just had to look up all the ice skating moves you mentioned and it’s so beautiful to watch, I trained in ballet for about 14 years as a kid and they are vaguely similar and I think that enticed me, like a little throwback you know. Anyway, I was just curious how you knew so much about it? Are you just extremely well researched or have you skated before?

And also I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED because I have ZERO experience as an ice skater (have never even worn a pair of ice skates). My Jobros bestie and technical beta @billsfangearring was the brains behind this operation!!

Going in, I knew basic things, like the names of certain jumps (like a triple axel or a quad Lutz) just from watching figure skating. But Billie was the one to tell me that there are requirements for certain elements in each type of program (we designed the whole Bird Set Free free skate entirely from scratch, even literally modeling the starting pose lol) and helped me figure out the best way to verbally describe those elements (how a jump starts, which side of the blade a skater would land on, etc).

So if it reads like I know what I am talking about, that is ALL thanks to Billie!

(Billie also helped me pick the music! Including recommending THE PERFECT SONG for a very important short program that is coming very soon 👀👀👀)
