you should've expected this. going on dates and being stood up was not a very uncommon thing but you didn't think it would happen so early.

the guy was a charming one. he was flirty and caring. a true gentleman, you thought. but if he really was a gentleman he would be sitting in the empty seat infront of you.

it was embarrassing, the waitress had pity in her eyes and the couples looking at eachother with love in their eyes only added salt to the wound.

but a few tables away from you was a man who was also waiting for his date that was obviously not going to show up.

you had made eye contact with him a while ago and it was humorous how you both were in the same situation at the same time in the same place.

letting out a sigh, you grabbed your purse to leave until the sound of the chair being pulled surprised you. and infront of you was the same guy.

it was awkward to say the least and you both were expecting the other to say something. but he cleared his throat before looking at you with his fierce eyes.

"what kind of guys do you like?" he asked as you bit back a grin.

"i like guys with humour." it wouldn't be so bad to chat a bit with this random stranger since you had cancelled all your plans for this stupid date anyways.

"i like humour too, but i like hu-mour."

the silence was heavy and his straight face only made things worse. he panicked at first, examining your face for any signs that he said something wrong.

but you laughed. loudly. you were sure the entire restaurant was looking at you but at this moment you only wanted to let him know you appreciated him.

this stranger who was going through the same situation that just came up to you to say a joke. it was all hard to believe.

a blush crept up on his face when you looked up at him with a big smile.

he was a charming one.

to say you loved cats was an underestimation. so when you saw a stray cat in the alleyway next to your apartment, you held back from kidnapping it.

but your landlord didn't allow pets inside so you could only feed the cat at night since that was when she came.

as far as you knew you were the only one feeding her so it was a huge surprise when she started eating less or sometimes not eating at all, only coming over to you to cuddle.

you first thought she was just eating something from the trash or her diet was changing. you swatted away those possibilities when you saw an empty can of tuna next to the garbage can and it wasn't the brand you would buy for her.

then it all made sense.

she was cat-human! and she was buying her own food now.

you felt like a genius.maybe you could catch her in her human form...so here you were, standing behind the wall as you watched her lick her paws, sitting in the box you got for her.

but it was more shocking to see someone coming from the other side and pulling out a can of tuna from their backpack.

the person took their hood off and it was a guy with messy dark hair and-

oh shit. he was looking at you the entire time. and he didn't look very pleased.

"i'm guessing you're the one who has been feeding her secretly." his droopy eyes held a bit of annoyance in them as he ran his fingers thru the cat's fur.

"actually, i have been feeding her first so you mist be the one who has been feeding her secretly." you crossed your arms, huffing.

he rolled his eyes, walking over to you after he opened the can. he stopped next to you, leaning in close to your ear."

she likes me more."

though it was a teasing remark, it sounded like a challenge to you. and his mischievous smile had only confirmed this.

this guy was your rival from the beginning. your cat rival.

you were getting more and more angry with the constant stops or the people bumping into you on the bus.

there were no seats available so you had to stand up and held onto the bar ontop of you like your life depends on it.

as you were about to press the button to get off, someone tapped on your shoulder and you turned around to see a tall young man with greyish hair holding a book to his chest.

he pointed towards the seat he was previously sitting on and you couldn't describe how happy you felt. but you kept calm and muttered a thank you before switching places with him so he was standing up next to you.

but a few seconds later he looks at you with a confused face. his eyebrow was raised and his lips parted as if to say something but he shook his head and looked away before getting off soon.

it has been 2 hours since that happened and you were laying in your bed, mind still on that guy from the bus.

he was so sweet! and handsome too.

your phone buzzed from a twitter notification and you grabbed it to surf the net a bit before bed.a post with the word on the bus caught your attention. you stopped scrolling and pressed on the tweet. but your eyes widened and you felt angered again.

i saw this pregnant woman on the bus and i offered my seat to her. i looked at her for the last time and found out she in fact, was not pregnant but she was just bloated.

it couldn't have been an coincidence. the post was from 2 hours ago and you went onto the profile and surely enough, it was the same guy.

you groaned, throwing your phone onto the empty space next to you, shoving your face into a pillow and screaming. bloated?

the comments were this blonde guy laughing with LMAOOO and making fun of him. but you fet offended since this tweet was about you so technically he was making fun of you.

you went into the comments and you aggressively typed something.

you're so stupid. she probably wasn't even bloated or anything. think before you post stuff.

pressing enter you proudly put your phone on your bedside table, giggling into your blanket while a confused al haitham was wondering why this random person was so angry at his post. i mean, they couldn't be the same person from the bus, right?

Here's Daisy Taylor looking absolutely gorgeous. Daisy posts are always very popular on my blog—here's hoping this one is too. It's always a bit of a struggle for me when I post Daisy and other trans people, whether or not to mention in the post, or identify in the tags the fact that they're trans. For a variety of reasons, including the fact that being trans is just one small part of who they are, and electing people as representatives for their group or community, whether they want that or not always feels iffy to me. There's also the concern that I'm fetishizing in some way (very common with trans porn performers especially), but in the end, I usually decide to mention their trans-ness because visibility and ally-ship seems more important now than ever before. And, of course there's those who say we're all overreacting and they won't get elected, or if they do they won't follow thru with it, and to those people I ask "where have you been the last decade or so?" And, ya, I'm a Canadian, so it won't directly impact me—certainly not right away, but we've already seen political leaders in other nations (including mine) adopting these insane strategies and ideas, so it's going to hit us all a lot sooner than we expect it. Honestly he found it amusing,how you sent letters and little things and he found it even more amusing how you thought he wouldn’t know who you were.

Dazai was a man of many talents and finding out information he wanted and needed was one of them.

So he decided he’d give you the chance to talk to him,or rather for him to talk to you.

The next day dazai left the agency building for a little walk,knowing full well you’d follow him.

Once he was about to pass an alley,he turned into it instead of just going straight.

This confused you.

You’d been studying his routes and his schedules and the only thing he visited around here other than the café was the convenience store that always seemed to have a deal on bandages,and even that was a few blocks away.

Nevertheless,you followed him into the alley,maybe you could talk to him? Finally hear his voice speaking to you..

But when you turned the corner the alley was empty

You walked in and looked around,how could he have vanished??

Just as you were about to give up and leave you felt someone’s presence behind you.

you turned around you were met with the object of your admirations.

No words came out of your mouth when you tried to speak,so he decided to fill the awkward silence himself.

“what do you want to be then?”he asked,the look in his eyes showed he knew the answer.

“i…I wanna be your partner;as in,in a romantic sense”

“so you want to date me? Well im sorry to disappoint,but im not interested”

“but-”you began and were immediately cut off

Honestly it really pissed him off.

Everyday,his mail was filled with letters and little knick knacks you’d sent him and it was getting really really annoying,because you’d had the brilliant idea of making your letters look like official ones he actually needed to open.

He’d gotten pretty good at telling when it was one of your bs ones or his actual mail now.but he’d always end up goin thru the ones he’d sorted out too.

He couldnt risk missing anything important.

And while it did make Chuuya’s life a living hell,he didn’t think you were worth engaging.so he suffered in silence.

That is,until he received a rather unsavoury package.

“Unsavoury how op?”You must be asking!

Well lets say he knew it was a bs letter when he saw the package alone.

Because it was wet.

He grabbed a paper towel and used it to toss the package aside,looking through his actual letter pile to make sure nothing important had been soiled as a result of your annoying-ass shite.

Thankfully nothing had been ruined but when he had finished work that day,his curiosity got the best of him and he put on a pair of disposable gloves to open the package (AINT NO WAY IN HELL HES TOUCHIN THAT SHIT WITH HIS ACTUAL GLOVES! NAH UH!)

When he opened the envelope a set of undergarments fell out,and they were...nope he wasn’t gonna finish that thought!

This was the final straw!

This had gone on long enough and he was fed up.

Chuuya used the mafia’s resources and was able to find someone who could find out who tf you were

Once he had his answer he looked at your address and thought he’d give you about as much of a surprise you had him.

He picked open your lock and stood by your window all the photos and pictures of him you had tacked around, making his skin crawl.

just as you were coming in through the door you noticed a figure by your window and squeaked out loud in shock,dropping your bags.

“You-you’re-”

“The person you’ve been fkin inconveniencing,yeah” he said,taking a purposeful step towards you.

You took a step back,this wasnt how you’d envisioned your meeting! He wasn’t supposed to be mad...why was he mad??

“Inconvenience? I never meant to inconvenience you!” You squeaked out.

Chuuya didn’t even try to hide his disdain at that.but he also wanted to get out of there asap!

He looked you directly in the eye and said in the most intimidating voice you’d ever heard, “either you leave me the fxck alone,or ill send my subordinates to take out the trash.”

You were so shook by this that you fell over backwards and he took that as his cue to leave.

He held onto his hat and ducked back through the window.

this snapped you out of your train wreck of thoughts.

You reached out to him and shouted,clear as day and loud enough to be heard, “BUT I LOVE YOU!”

He looked back at you and the disgust that came over his sharp features managed to distort them in a surprisingly unattractive way

“Not my fuxkin problem!”

And with that he disappeared and your entire reality came crashing down as the fog cleared and you realised just what had happened.

“Ooh mail!” He said as he went through the pile kunikida had brought up for him.

But nope. None of the snacks he’d ordered had come yet. And he knew better than to eat mystery candy from strangers,his dad boss fukuzawa had taught him better.

This was the fourth day too...

Ack he was sick of this!

Ranpo quickly deduced your location and asked dazai to take care of it.

He knew dazai’s past from the mafia and he really wasn’t bothered to go himself.

But he also knew dazai wouldn’t do anything unnecessary,so he was the perfect choice!

When dazai came back ranpo asked him how it went

“Oh,nothing special,just some poor soul stuck in a delusion”

To which ranpo nodded,commenting that it was finally over.

“Yeah about that,they said they loved you...sounded pretty convinced you loved em too.”

Ranpo knew this,but he asked dazai what his response had been nevertheless.

“Ah,” said Dazai, falling into the chair next to ranpo’s.

“I just told them that you had better things to do and better people to spend your time with.”

“ a bit harsh?”

“Mhm,but you know there wasnt any other way.”

Ranpo nodded once again and went back to his snack and cartoon.

The next days came and went and ranpo finally had his regular mail on schedule.

Now his pile was of boxes of sweet drinks,snacks and even more delights!

This entire ordeal irked kunikida to his core

It neither made sense according to his ideals,nor did it make sense in general

Furthermore your letters and packages were becoming a nuisance

He had to end it.

Kunikida asked katai to find your location and when it was handed to him he took it and left.

Thirty minutes was all he allocated for this entire situation ,and he aimed to end it within his pre-set time frame.

He knocked on your door and when you answered it,you were obviously taken aback!

You struggled to find words so he filled in the silence.time was ticking after all...

“Good day,y/n. Im sure you know who i am but im here to tell you that i am not interested in you.you fail to meet all the criteria to fit into my spousal plan project and you have shown a severe lack of honorable ideals.therefore i would like you to leave me alone and allocate your time more constructively.thank you and good day.”

He bowed and turned to leave but you gripped his arm and with determination dripping from your every word said, “but i love you! We’re meant to be!”

He sharply shook off your hand and barely even looked at you as he said, “i wholeheartedly disagree.take care and goodbye.”

And then he left without even sparing you a glance.

My thoughts on the 10k Affirmation Challenge

Initially I never liked the idea of counting or keeping track of your affirmations. It’s always been something certain people do while manifesting, and if it works for them, cool, but I never wanted to do it. I thought it might make me overthink or obsess, but I recently downloaded a counter and I’m gonna try this. I’m really just going to affirm throughout my day as normal but also try to squeeze in some time to sit and affirm and track my affirmations with the app. Here’s why I’ve changed my mind:

When we are going through our day we are thinking around 70000 thoughts. If you are not actively controlling those thoughts then you are probably not manifesting what you want successfully. If you are not brushing off your unwanted thoughts and replacing them with your affirmations, you are probably wondering why you’re not manifesting and you’re probably getting discouraged. A while ago I realized the reason I don’t consistently manifest is probably because I am not on top of my thoughts as much as I think I am. If you affirm and flip thoughts a few times throughout the day, there’s still all the other thoughts for all the remaining time. The negative thoughts right now are what are natural and comfortable and normal to you, so you don’t really notice just how much you are thinking them. The affirmations are new and require your effort and focus, getting out of the habit of thinking unwanted thoughts requires effort and focus and determination. So you are automatically still thinking about the old story a majority of the time which is why your affirmations aren’t working. Your thoughts manifest. So you must be thinking about what you want more than you’re thinking about what you don’t want or else it’s just going to stay the same. If you were to count and keep track of how much you affirm, you will see how truly little amount of time you’re actually doing it. You will notice that the majority of the time you aren’t putting in the effort. Which is okay and understandable, like i said it takes effort. This is what putting in the work means, this is what taking action means. If you want to see change you have to change. Your mind has to change. When I have noticed my manifestations coming thru it was because I was flipping my thoughts and affirming consistently, it was not when I was doing silly methods or consuming tons of manifesting info, it was when I was putting in the work and just staying on top of my thoughts.

So I’m taking this as a chance to refresh. I’m going to look objectively at how often I actually affirm and consciously think from the end state. Cuz I just get mad and discouraged, “why isn’t it working” when I could be instead thinking “this works, everything works for me, I get what I want”

The 10k affirmations challenge is a fantastic way to motivate yourself to keep affirming and persisting. That is ACTUALLY what manifestation is, so this is really the one.

Mental diet:

Mental diet is an important part of conscious manifestation that I don’t hear people talking about enough. If you’re affirming through your day whenever you remember to, but then you allow yourself to worry and spiral and wonder, you will not see much progress. The more you affirm the less you’ll have to worry about mental diet because the old story is going to fade from your mind, but it is important that when negative or opposing thoughts pop up, you CRUSH THEM INTO OBLIVION. Depending on the thought, you can address it differently. For example, if you’re manifesting a car and you think “I don’t have a car” you just brush it off and say “yes I do have a car.” But if you are anxious, desperate, doubtful, you may need to be a little more aggressive in order to get your mind to let go of that thought, you can start rampaging affirmations until you feel better. This applies to any desire.

Initially I thought of this whole 10k affirmation thing as just a nice reminder that your desire is achievable if you just put in the work. Now I am really seeing the possibilities. This is going to change the way I affirm and the way I manifest. I will spend much less time in frustration and doubt and more time just affirming. Because the only thing between me and my desires is my thoughts. And I knew this but there’s was nothing in me to keep me grounded, no self discipline and no way to track how I was doing. I would get super motivated and start affirming a lot and start getting what I wanted and then I would just lose motivation and focus. You can’t count on motivation or a good mood, because you don’t always have that. You have to stay focused no matter what. Even though I affirmed that I was always motivated, the old story of not being motivated was still there and I didn’t PERSIST until it went away, I just lost motivation. You MUST persist because your mind is going to remind you of the old story. You have to flip that, affirm over it, make your affirmations much louder and more prominent until you forget the old story. Because you will forget it, it’s just currently what is most prominent in your mind which is why your 3D and automatic thoughts assumptions and beliefs reflect it. But your mind is malleable. It’s like clay. Saturate your mind with the affirmations so you can mold it into a new thought.

I made a clay pot. I didn’t like the design. So I sprayed it with water and I was able to smooth it out a bit but the structure and form was much the same. So I soaked the pot in water for hours and the pot became completely saturated and I was able to crush it back into a ball of clay and create an entirely new pot, better, more beautiful, exactly as I desired. That clay pot is like your mind. The water is your affirmations. Just affirm, don’t worry about anything else don’t worry about how ugly the pot is don’t keep taking it out of the water and looking at how ugly it is just keep it in the water so you can change it into something new. Now go affirm

i really want the beginning of the movie to clear up what exactly happened post dsr (mordhaus security? how are the fans doing? etc) and how the band is doing without Charles

(this is very biased i'm sorry) nickles moments !!! please let me see them being band dads, or more of them being best of friends post reconciliation (UPDATE: i can settle for nickles angst too but pLEASE let me see Nathan be kinder to Pickles at the end please i'm literally begging)

SOBER PICKLES !!! considering this movie could possibly be more action driven or smth like that, i really wish we could see Pickles being sober and focused

the boys' reaction to their god-moment in dsr (do they even remember? what did it feel like? do they get to keep the powers all the time or how does it work? what even are their powers exactly lmao? etc)

OOOHH i have so many thoughts on this thank you so much for asking. this is long and there are. many images in this post because visual aid is required so under a read more it goes

firstly i have these little bit wonky concepts i made on my phone like months ago for shadow and sonic inspired aggressive skates. id actually kill for shadow and sonic inspired skates sega get on it

anyway though i made these i actually have far more in depth thoughts on these two that deviate from these so it’s time for separate sections!

shadow:

i think i 100% have to make him a skate geek he’s THE skate guy so i think he’s gotta own a pair of like every kind of skate. choosing what he’d most prominently use is a bit hard cause like on one hand, it’s very important that he’s able to grind; sa2 introduced grinding and shadow so i gotta go with aggressive skates in that case because aggressives are skates designed specifically with performing grinds and jumps and such. HOWEVER they’re also really slow cause they usually have only 2 small wheels and are very heavy, so they aren’t suited to skating distances. so i think i’d also consider giving him city skates skates which are skates that are for navigating city terrain and going fast thru it, as well as some tricks like jumps, manuals, n stuff.

aggressive skates / city skates close to what i’d give him

sonic:

of course, similar to shadow i’d probably give him either city skates and/or aggressives, but with the difference that i’d give him a 3 wheel setup on city skates mainly cause it looks neat and distinct and id give him a four wheel setup on aggressives which are faster and a bit harder to do tricks on than the two wheel setup you can see above on the skates i gave shadow (they have those 2 smaller central anti-rocker wheels that make grinding easier but go slower cause only two wheels that you move on. i think sonic would appreciate the speed and the challenge)

aggressives (imagine they have a four wheel setup lmao) / city skates close to what id give him

also it’d be completely remiss of me to not mention speed skates! speed skates are very very fast indeed. they don’t have much ankle support unlike most skates, and if i’m being quite honest i don’t find them nearly as cool as i find aggressive skates or city skates so i’m not really considering them lmao; cool factor is very very important when it comes to sonic. marathon skates are slower speed skates with more ankle support and i think they get a pass, there’s some fairly cool designs out there, but they’re just not cool enough to me to give to sonic lol

an example of a four wheel aggressive skate (notice how all four wheels are the same size and touch the ground unlike the aggressive skates above) / an example of speed skates (see how they don’t have any ankle support and have huge wheels? you can go very fast on them but they’re not maneuverable in varied environments like other kinds of skates)

silver:

i actually have such a vivid image of silver on tacky soft boot recreational/fitness skates (recreational skates don’t specialize in anything in particular. soft boot skates especially being unsuited to anything past beginner level) with glow wheels.

like something like the second one with the wheels of the first is just so. tacky yet endearing to me. i’ve been coming around on glow wheels honestly but personally most soft boot skates don’t look nearly as cool as other skates to me. the combo of glow wheels and soft boot skates make me think of overconfident beginners or children. no better way to put it but i think a little endearing lameness suits silver quite well. yknow, as a treat.

everyone else:

id give blaze slalom skates which. like are the same as city skates but with a different use case. slaloming is like, an agility thing where you maneuver around cones and do spins and such idk how to describe it well. i could also give her inline figure skates, which are just figure skates with wheels. figure skating blaze is something so real to me honestly

charmy would have the most obnoxious and brightly coloured kids recreational skates imaginable. glow wheels are a must. i think i’d give espio city skates and vector aggressive skates.

i’d give tails city skates i guess? i’m so sorry tails i have no idea what’d suit him best

for like everyone i didn’t mention i’d probably give them city/slalom skates if they’re fast or agile on their feet, aggressive skates if they’re show-offs and are known to do tricks/are power types, hard boot recreational skates if they’re normal, and soft boot recreational skates if i think they would be beginners/occasional hobbyists. and that’s it that’s the post i don’t have anything for anyone else notable. thanks again for asking!

Just a Little Bit

As the seasons begin to change and thoughts of getting outside start to bubble up into our hopes, dreams, and memories it seems appropriate to consider options. Generally when the topic of the Pacific Crest Trail comes up in conversation or reading, or in film it is framed around thru hiking. Beginning to end, start to finish. "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" or something like that. Thru hikes are stories mostly full of success. Participants overcome adversity and find their way forward. Thru hikes get the glory it seems.

A short snowy early fall day hike on the PCT with a friend.

To day hike on the PCT is easier for some than others mostly given where you live. Living in Kansas for example, you are not going to call your friends up and say, "Hey, how about we day hike from Rainy Pass to Cutthroat Pass this weekend?" or " Let's meet at Kennedy Meadows and do a day hike...what do you say?" The day hike option in the immediate sense is challenging for a lot of us. Less so when people have some time but not a lot of time to do a more challenging or ambitious undertaking like in the summer months.

I met a fellow once who was driving to PCT trailheads on the weekends and day hiking out and back to his car. He didn't have the luxury to take extended time off of work and other responsibilities so this worked for him. To be honest the PCT is not exactly easy to move from trail head to trail head everywhere. He happened to live where it was more possible.

In my case I can easily consider various day hikes on the PCT from where I live. They might be longish days or require sleeping in my vehicle or a nearby accommodation but still doable. If you are dreaming of a PCT experience here is your opportunity to get a taste.

Jack Haskel at the PCTA wrote a really honest and informative essay in the organizations magazine 'The Communicator' last spring. He writes," The decision around what to pack for a day hike also became easier when I stopped overthinking it. I embraced the 10 essentials, added a couple of extras, and now all the necessary items live in my day pack permanently." Here's the list:

Navigation- paper maps and/or phone app maps

Headlamp-sometimes the best laid plans just take longer than your think.

Sun protection

First aid- maybe not for you but for someone else...

Knife plus gear repair kit

Fire (matches, lighter, tinder and/or stove)

Shelter (ultralight mylar emergency shelter that fits two people)

Extra food

Extra water

Extra clothes

In addition tell someone where you are going and when you plan to get back. This is critically important for staying safe. Jack also carries a knife, compass, energy bar, and some spare batteries. His view, and I agree, better to be safe than sorry.

If you don't have the time, energy, desire, opportunity, or some other good reason for a lengthy PCT hike consider a day hike. Just walking a short distance with friends on the PCT has been rewarding for them as much as it has been for me. They got a taste of what my experience was and it sprouted some great conversations and experiences of their own. These experiences bring up so many memories flooding my brain from past hikes when I have done this.

happy wincest wednesday! very important question that i specifically need your answer on. what do you think about omegaverse? any headcanons about sam and deans designations or shift in attitudes? is there anything that particular differs from typical canon?

hi happy wednesday okay the like. THE omegaverse dynamic for me is omega dean and alpha sam. thats like the default one that is the most fitting to canon to me.

dean is subserviant to john, hes the caretaker, the mother, the one holding them all together. and sam clashes with john because he has this natural need to be in charge and being under john grates him, hes rowdy and hormonal and bursting out of the seams of the sweet little brother role in the family.

whether john is an alpha (large and in charge, to show hes the boss, deans first alpha, and is similar sam and to fuel sam and johns fights with angry alpha pheremones or whatever) or a beta (normal guy who can barely control his overly hormonal kids because he doesnt have any a/o designation) or an omega (to show hes like dean, deans role model for being an omega who is still capable and hard on the outside, to have him be extremely maternal towards sam and dean) is up to whatever goes best with the story/setting.

I think omega dean and alpha sam is rly fun. esp because sam follows deans lead and dean is in charge of them as the older brother/parental figure. I think any omegaverse spn thing should put a big emphasis on dean being a parental figure but with it works especially with omega dean.

I love the idea of dean needing to feel in control of his family unit in a biological motherly way. when hes hunting with john hes hanging on his every word and following every command, and when johns gone dean has no direction and has to learn how to live without that guidance. dean finds it again in sam, bith in being sams omega but also hes still like above sam in the hierarchy because hes sams parent. so theyre like equals in the way that they both have a wrung above the other in dynamics. sam knows deans tough and he loves him and sees him like a parent and does not challenge authority.

if we r going into headcanons id say dean lets his father help him thru his heats, not necessarily in a romantic way or anything, just in a "family helps family" type way. so dean is marked by johns scent bc of that. it takes a while for dean to let sam help him with his heats bc to dean the person whos supposed to help him thru that is someone who takes care of him, not the other way around, hes supposed to take care of sam it doesnt work like that. and it takes him a while to be okay with the idea of sam taking care of him like that and surrenderring himself in that way.

that all being said ive seen lots and lots of different variations of omegaverse dynamics and ive enjoyed plenty of others. i read a fic recently with alpha dean and beta sam that had sam dysphoric that he wasnt an omega and i thought that was rly rly interesting and a good idea, even if i dont rly consider sam to be omega-like myself. all different variations are fun and work for different types of stories!

alright im half way thru and here are my thoughts so far:

1. I truthfully don’t know any of the controversy around joe rogan, i just know he’s hella popular for being controversial and he’s someone i’d be on edge to have a convo with bc what i have seen is he questions everything and he isn’t afraid to let you know he doesn’t agree. but snc seem to really like him and vibe with him and it does seem super out of the blue for joe to want ghost hunters to come investigate his place (I hope this isnt a set up). either way, sounds interesting.

2. that contract from o-park mall is challenge worthy. they spelt colbys name entirely wrong (misspelt his last name and used his nickname and not his legal name) making it null and void from my understanding. i would also say the same abt sam as they used a nickname not a legal name. A good lawyer could wiggle them out of that if they cared.

3. loved hearing colbys take on religion. im the same, i’m not so much religious as i have a relationship with God. i think thats way more important than being in a religious community. and i also feel the same way about just knowing there’s something else out there. also interesting he was the only one on the table who doesn’t have dreams of dying. chop that up to trusting in God and not being afraid bc he knows God has the perfect plan and everything is in control, or just generally not afraid to die for other reasons, who knows. definitely fascinating, either way.

I finished the podcast late last night and then immediately went to bed without really doing a deep dive into my thoughts on the whole thing (aside from a few choice areas that stuck in my brain and had to be discussed in dm's last night lol), so I'm going to use your reviews to sort of start my own review, and then will probably finish up with an additional post later on side thoughts - cause I have a lot lol.

1, The thing with Joe Rogan is that he kind of plays both sides of the fence, in terms of not just politics, but pretty much anything going on (he will have on conservatives and liberals, will have on atheists and people like snc, will have on scientists and then people who believe in UFOs, etc) and so he tends to be very controversial because of that. I don't listen to him, his viewpoints on certain things aren't really my cup of tea and he has in the past said some stuff in his pursuit of riding the fence that was not good and gross and everything, so this is not me defending him or whatever - but at the end of the day, he has the most listened to podcast on earth and love him or hate him, is a household name. Them being invited on his podcast, being treated very well by him, and then him keeping in touch with them and inviting them out to his comedy club is objectively a big deal for them and their visibility and they aren't going to turn that down because twitter - who has pretty much made it clear they lowkey hate snc anyway lol - have an issue with the collab.

I actually found that part of the conversation interesting, because the whole thing came about because his daughter was a fan of theirs, which I just find kind of hilarious and random. Imagine how many people of notoriety and fame they meet or could potentially meet because those peoples' teenage children are fans.

2, I don't think they would actually get arrested for showing up at that mall at this point in their careers, anyway - most malls do not have the uumph to take shit like that truly seriously, and both S & C have made it public that they've been back in there since (one time right after the release of their book, Colby went into their Barnes and Noble with his mom and illegally signed a few of the books on the shelf and posted about it all over his instagram lol). But it is objectively kind of hilarious that they are "banned" from entering the mall and yet they've had consumer products in three of their stores (B&N, Hot Topic and Zumiez), and have had their faces on the store fronts of two of those three.

3, I strangely found that interesting as well, and I normally tend to zone right the fuck out when people talk religion (sorry, all). I was raised Catholic but am not religious these days in my own life, although I certainly do believe that something else has to be going on, hence all the ghosts and stuff. But for whatever reason, hearing others talk about religion always makes me feel wildly uncomfortable - I think it's just feeling like that's something personal and so different from person to person and I just don't like feeling like I'm intruding on their privacy by hearing it (even if they are offering it up freely), if that makes sense? I don't know, I'm just weird about those conversations in general.

But I find it interesting when these two talk religion, firstly because of the content they make and how it would tie back into their own personal belief system, but also just how interesting it is that this is one of those areas where they kind of balance each other on opposite sides of the scale, and yet somehow come together perfectly at the end. It's an interesting phenomenon with them.

Also, all of them talking about dying in their dreams and Colby just piping in with "I've never died in my dreams 😃" like go off, you sweet little just happy to be there king.

How did you reach a place where you can be happy and full of love no matter what? I hate feeling like I’ll be unsatisfied if my desires don’t manifest. I wish I could feel totally complete without them.

honestly by being willing to totally allow myself to surrender and let go and... allow. allow in general. you have to start to value yourself more than you value whatever manifestation u think will be the trick to fixing ur life. i will be completely transparent in saying i experienced a lot of heartache and pain on this journey as a whole, mostly from the fact i was the same way for a while. i put my wholeness into the manifestations without even realizing i was doing so. so i feel for everyone who gets stuck there bc sometimes u truly think ur doing things for urself but deep down, ur still living for the hope of a desire materializing. through all this time, i cried a lot but i also broke new heights of love, peace, and beauty. and i feel so much more stable and trusting of myself than i ever have. accept that this is a journey and you're just gonna have to be there for yourself, along for the ride ! <3

to be specific, on what i actually did, i firstly took a break off tumblr as some of you know. and i immediately started questioning everything and asking myself for the answers. things that didnt feel right to me i started to reject, and i started to accept things that everyone in the community made fun of. because i didnt care about anyone's beliefs anymore, i just knew it was time for me to live a life i actually wanted. and what was popular in the community was hurting more than helping. so i went all in ! i also allowed myself to revisit topics like deattachment and letting go, which actually helped a ton. after a couple months of starting to challenge my old belief system, i started to actually live again. (yall got a light taste of this energy when i did "love me february" earlier this year bc i slowly started doing new things) i started to push myself out of my comfort zone and go do things in real life, rather than sitting in my room telling myself "i dont have to lift a finger ! if i just sit in here in my mind it will surely happen" (i got tired of telling myself that after 2 years of a rather stagnant-feeling life) so i said fuck it and started doing things. which only snowballed because then i got comfortable doing things. and now ive had so much fucking fun in my life in just the past couple months. i only say that because it still blows my mind n i am beyond thankful for my experiences this year !

what i would like to help yall understand more than anything is this life was meant to be lived and experienced, period. without even realizing it, a lot of us do put life on hold because we're too busy worrying about our manifestation arriving because we put so much weight into that being the thing that will finally be the pinnacle of happiness for us, we ignore everything else already in front of us. its truly a thing like. take it step by step, little things that are out of your norm and you will see the way life responds to you so beautifully ! i love experiencing myself through others and life as a whole n not just thru my mind sitting on my bed everyday !! its great !! but it wasnt some manifestation that got me out there, it was me being done with waiting on shit to change. i just went out there to see what happens, while also keeping my spiritual practice important to me, and it was like magic tbh.

so to simplify. challenge what doesnt feel right. allow what feels right. and allow yourself to actually live and experience life along the way. nothing that is in front of you at this moment, is an obstacle or something you need to pretend isnt there. take what you have and let it be part of what guides you. make that your goal. feeling complete. (or whatever you want, really) when that is your goal, instead of your desire, you wake up everyday and make decisions based on your true self. not that egotistic urge for results.

no but like the writers were SO careless with the throuple???? like the s1 finale had aki and audrey going thru all of that to show max how much he meant to them, and given their persistence in making their case that the three of them should try this, I was expecting s2 to like actually let us see them navigate this new dynamic. show us the domesticity, the fluff, and yes of course the challenges as well, but give us some fun! but we didn’t get that!

the writers only cared about what drama they could wring out of the dynamic. suddenly they can’t communicate at all and are constantly withholding their feelings from each other -- aki and audrey sabotaging max’s attempts to go public instead of telling him that it’s scary to be out; aki being nervous about bottoming (pls don’t get me started on how much I hate that the show was obsessed w the trio’s sex life........ I do not have the time for that on this post) and going to another student for tips, instead of being upfront w his partners; audrey assuming aki and max are going to abandon her and causing that whole scene before admitting her fears instead of just admitting how her issues with her parents are causing insecurity in their rship.

and then in episode 8 -- EPISODE 8 OF 10!!!! -- these writers decided to have audrey and max completely ignore aki’s film festival bc they were too busy with this stupid feud with julien. and then when aki is lamenting about feeling ignored, ingrid kissed him -- WHICH WHY THE HELL IS EVERYONE ON THE SHOW CALLING THAT CHEATING???? AKI DID NOT INITIATE AND HAD NO INTEREST IN INGRID MY GOD!! THAT’S NOT CHEATING!!!

but anyway aki is rightfully upset over the way audrey and max minimized this event for him and the narrative focuses on the fucking “cheating” aspect????? aki is never allowed to vocalize this feeling of being dismissed and sidelined??? and like my god the way these last three episodes made audrey look so bad, like her decision when learning about aki’s “indiscretion” is that she and aki should hide it from max?????? LIKE HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING FROM YOUR RELATIONSHIP WOES SO FAR??????

and all the stress about saying “I love you” was dumb bc -- AGAIN!! -- after everything aki and audrey did in 1x12, idg why they are having these issues. like yeah being startled by the abruptness is fair, but other than that it felt utterly nonsensical.

and then when max hears about aki cheating and audrey knowing and gets mad at them for always being a team and him being solo, he’s so right!!! like we even see it w the premiere w the two of them talking about stopping max’s plan for going public, like aki and audrey are constantly consulting each other w/o max’s input and it’s! so! shitty!

and like......... it’s just so fucked up that the season 2 finale’s thesis was literally the exact opposite of the season 1 finale thesis. in s1, aki and audrey were adamant that they don’t work as a couple anymore and their feelings for max are so strong and important to them. the season 2 thesis is that aki and audrey are an inseparable unit. like????????? aki and audrey were literally the ones that proposed “all for all or none for none” and then when max takes that seriously, aki and audrey are like “lol nah we still wanna be together”

like I do believe joshua when he says the throuple was meant to be endgame but with this utterly careless handling, it truly does not feel like it was worth it for the writers to go there at all. like god we got NOTHING in terms of them being domestic and having fun bc it was just nonstop drama and that’s when we actually got content of the three of them together.

   They stopped by Mason McCarthy’s place next, hoping to catch him at home since this week was a non-touring one for the twins and their entourage. “Oh, hello, elders!” he said cheerily as he opened the door. “I thought you might drop by. Elder Anderson, you haven’t seen the music studio yet. Let me give you a tour!”

   “Oh!” Blaine answered in surprise. “That's so kind of you. But we actually came here to see if there was anything we could do to help you stay active in the church with all your travel.”

   “Not really. I mean, obviously, we can't really do any callings that require us to be in Ingolstadt every week, but Madison makes sure we read the scriptures every day.” Mason waved the two missionaries inside and brought them to the kitchen, where he pushed a bowl of chips at them. “Missionaries are always hungry, right? All that biking everywhere.”

   Blaine became aware of the empty pit that was his stomach as Kurt popped several into his mouth. Blaine followed suit as Mason pulled two mineral waters from the fridge.

   Kurt took a sip. “What about sacrament, Brother McCarthy? It’s important for you and your sisters to be able to renew their baptismal covenants every week. And I understand you’ve received authorization to hold private sacrament meetings with your family members when you're on the road. Have you started doing that?”

   Mason pursed his lips. “Don’t you think one of my brothers would be better suited to do that? Martin and Morris are older than me, and both of them are married.”

   “They don't always tour with you though, right?” Kurt said. “I thought that was only for the bigger festivals.”

   Mason gazed at Kurt. They seemed to be having some kind of silent standoff, though Blaine didn't quite understand what it was about. Was this something that Kurt had nudged Mason about before Blaine had come to Ingolstadt?

   Mason struck his palms together in a single, loud clap. “You know what I’d love to do? Record Elder Anderson playing the piano in our music studio! He was so good at the Easter service. Actually, you two both have amazing voices—you should sing a duet! I’m still not great with the soundboard but this will give me a chance to practice. What do you say?” And with that, he spun around toward the kitchen door and waved for them to follow him.

   *

   Blaine ran scales as he thought over what to play. He longed to sing The Circle of Our Love again with Kurt, and he was sure he could figure out the chords with a little effort.

   But they were here as missionaries, trying to build Mason up in his faith. Now was not the time for Blaine to woo his companion.

   Then again, maybe he could do both at the same time.

   He played the first few notes of Finlandia.

   “Oh!” Kurt touched his heart with his right hand.

   It was exactly the effect Blaine had hoped for.

   “Ah, yes,” Mason nodded at Kurt. “This is a lovely hymn.”

   “The loveliest,” Kurt said.

   So, it was decided. Kurt and Mason left the room and reappeared on the other side of the glass: Mason settling down at the computer, Kurt standing beside him. His eyes were on Blaine, and he was smiling with a soft reassurance.

   As Blaine began to play, Kurt’s mouth formed the shapes of the English words:

Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side; With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In ev’ry change he faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav’nly Friend Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

   Blaine remembered when they sat side by side on the piano bench in the Schönfelds’ living room the week after Easter. The skin just about Blaine’s elbow tingled from where their arm hairs touched. Lately I've been wondering, how do you write your fics? Do you have a process? A starting point?

Also, I know a major part ppl talk about in writing is "show not tell", how do you know if you're telling instead of showing? Cause I know that I, for one, would look down at what I wrote and have no idea if I'm showing or telling.

ive actually answered the question on my writing process several times before. heres the latest time i answered that question in depth (answered in dec 2021), but the tl;dr is "i make at minimum 2 outlines before Actually Writing, and my outlines get Very detailed so im effectively writing each fic at least 3 times before it actually gets posted on ao3, because i apparently love to make myself suffer" jHVJHVKJFHD

but forreal, that ask does basically go thru my entire writing process, from idea conception to Actual Writing. and my process hasnt changed one bit since then. this has been my process since like, 2015 actually HAHA. it really works for me and how my brain is Built, but every single writer is different. what works for me may not work for others. like, i am Hugely reliant on outlines, but i know a lot of writers who get bogged down by outlines and prefer to write just straight to the page, and it's really fascinating and delightful to me that there are endless methods and ways to get a story out :D

what i wanted to talk about more is the "show dont tell" thing because.....

without further ado, lemme get into it!

what "show dont tell" is (bcuz definitions r important)

Telling is = giving the information that a sentence/scene is trying to convey outright.

Showing is = giving the information that a sentence/scene is trying to convey through description.

so in its simplest definition, an example of a Telling sentence could be, for example "The office of Luke's detective agency was often messy, but Rosa's has always known that Luke's a bit of a messy person."

meanwhile a Showing version of that sentence could be, for example "Upon entering the office of Luke's detective agency, there were discarded reports on the floor, dusty file boxes in disarray, a half empty bag of dried figs on the couch; all of which Rosa just sighs fondly at."

at this point, i wanna say that "show dont tell" is probably a very popular piece of advice because for many beginner writers or for people new to storytelling in general, the first instinct is to tell. because it's often more direct, and it's also how we generally tell stories in casual conversation, for example. like, when im telling my friend about a funny thing that happened at work, i tell them "dude this thing made me SO FUCKING NERVOUS" which is a Telling sentence. i usually dont go "my hands were shaking the entire time i was giving this presentation and my gut felt like it was twisting into itself" which is a Showing sentence, simply because the Telling sentence is easier and quicker to say.

Telling is first instinct, but reading a 5k short story that is all Telling can get pretty boring or monotonous, because what Showing has that Telling often doesnt have is Description. Showing fleshes out a scene some more, challenges the reader to surmise details on their own and connect the dots themselves, and also trains beginners to be more active in describing their scenes and fleshing it out further.

litmus test to figure out whether youre showing or telling

in general when youve got a Telling sentence, the information a sentence is trying to convey is most usually directly spelled out in the sentence itself.

on the flipside, when youve got a Showing sentence, the information is something that can be garnered from the descriptors of what can be seen, how other characters react, etc.

so long as a sentence is Not Outright saying the information it wants to get across, then youve probably got a showing sentence.

so if ur trying to figure out if what youve written is Telling or Showing, first ask yourself "what information am i trying to convey here?" and once you know that, look at what youve written and see how you conveyed it. did you convey this directly? or did you allude to it using details that lead to that information?

to demonstrate, let me go back to my previous example with luke and rosa. both sentences are conveying two pieces of information. 1) that the office is usually messy and 2) that rosa isn't surprised cuz she knows luke Lives Like This

the Telling sentence says these pieces of info outright. meanwhile the Showing sentence doesnt and takes more time to give details that simply allude to those two pieces of information, details like what shit luke has strewn around his apartment and rosa's reaction.

i dont like "show dont tell" because a lot of the time, when i see this piece of writing advice, it's worded as "ALWAYS show and NEVER tell" and uh.......no, thats not right

first off, all writing advice is Not absolute. what works for one writer may not work for another writer and no technique out there is inherently Bad, it all Depends on so many factors. secondly, the balance between Showing and Telling is also hugely reliant on each writer's specific style. like, personally i love to do Telling a bunch for sentence structure variation, for humor/comedy, or for a whole lot of other reasons!! which leads me to my third point:

Telling has its uses and its benefits.

because listen......Showing is indeed really great, and like i said earlier, it pushes writers to flesh out scenes more.

but not every scene or piece of information in a story needs to be fleshed out in the way that Showing necessitates.

i like to think about it this way. Showing has the tendency to expand a scene/information, and i visualize this literally. like, if my story was represented by 5 accordions glued to each other (bear with me here), and i just so happened wanted to use Showing for everything, all of those accordions would be stretched out and expanded. on the flipside, if i use Telling for everything, all of those accordions are pushed tight together, because Telling tends to contract a scene/information.

having a story thats 5 accordions long that made up of All Telling OR All Showing is generally not how stories work. instead, stories are a mix of accordions, some contracted and some expanded, because different scenes/information have different levels of importance and value.

like, lemme use an example from chapter 2 of "yes, she’s my lover, yes, she’s a half-dragon. any more questions?" since thats one of my most recent non smut fics HAHA

over the course of this chapter, the following happens

luke realizes he needs to find out more information on ria being half dragon

luke starts writing to vyn, a scholar, who could have that info

luke travels to stellis to meet vyn

luke meets vyn at his bookshop and theres a whole situation that happens there

luke returns back to his and ria's cottage

luke and ria have a little heart to heart over dinner about stuff

of those 6 things, numbers 4 and 6 are the most important scenes to me. in the chapter, numbers 4 and 6 are the scenes that get most fleshed out, they are the most told through Showing sentences in a Showing kind of method

but the other stuff isnt as important in the chapter, but they still need to be there for logistical reasons. number 1 needs to be there to setup the reason for why this whole chapter happens, but i dont want to bog the entire chapter down with just luke Realizing He Needs More Info, so i write number 1 mostly in hindsight, and mostly through Telling sentences.

same goes with numbers 2, 3, and 5. those things need to happen to get from scene to scene, but it's not like it's narratively important for me to write out luke's entire medieval fantasy commute. i can just say "One of the kingdom’s main cities is a quarter-day’s ride away from the nearby village, and after letting Ria know that he’s off to do some errands, Luke hitches a ride with a vendor on his way to the city; Stellis." and boom, done, we're in stellis and now we can get on with the more interesting bits

Telling has its uses because a story can't always be Showing everything, because then that puts every single instance or piece of information at Exactly the same value. when it really isnt! sometimes, a guy just needs to get from point A to point B, and so long as nothing important is happening during that travel, Telling is a much more economical way to go about it. sometimes the info Needs to be conveyed, but not necessarily expanded.

and this can make the stuff that is expanded and is done through Showing more impactful or striking because of the contrast. like, in the chapter i used as an example, thats 6 accordions, but 2 are completely expanded while the other 4 are more contracted. this makes the 2 more notable because it's chock full of description, dialog, imagery, etc. it makes more of an impact than, say, luke's medieval fantasy commute, because i contracted that accordion and expanded these accordions.

additionally, i seem to see a lot of people who espouse "ALWAYS show and NEVER tell" seeing Telling as something that will always be boring and dull.

and Telling can be dull sometimes, sure, but there are definitely ways to spruce it up and make it integral to the story. which leads me to my next point

As yn departs, the BTS members can't help but miss them immensely. Their absence leaves a void in their lives, and they long for yn's return. Each member tries to cope with their feelings in their own way, and that's how I imagined it would be BTS members confessing their feelings to yn ↴

Ps2: these are guesses at what I think it would be. all fictional.

Namjoon

Namjoon would react to the departure of yn with understanding and a sense of maturity. He'd nod, showing empathy for yn's situation, and say, "I completely understand, yn. Family and commitments come first. Take all the time you need."

As the days pass, Nam would find himself missing yn more than he anticipated. He'd immerse himself in his music, finding solace in writing lyrics that express his feelings of longing and nostalgia. He might also take up reading to occupy his thoughts.

Over time, Nam's emotions would intensify, and he'd come to a realization that he can't keep his feelings to himself any longer. During a thoughtful and deep conversation with yn, he'd say, "Yn, I've had time to reflect on our friendship, and it's become clear to me that what I feel for you goes beyond that. I've missed you so much, and I want to be honest with you. I really really like you!" Nam's confession would be sincere and mature, reflecting the depth of his feelings for yn.

As the days go by and yn is away, J-Hope would find himself missing their positive presence and the joy they brought to his life. He'd send encouraging messages and uplifting videos, trying to make yn smile from afar.

During one of their video calls, J-Hope might say, "Yn, I've missed your laughter and your positivity. I can't stop thinking about you. I like you so much!" J-Hope's confession would be filled with hope and affection, expressing his true feelings and offering support during yn's challenging time.
