It’s nearly the shortest month of the year, but that isn’t stopping authors from publishing their exciting new work! Below is a list of the 10 books I’m most excited for that are debuting in February 2024, the month of love. Heti takes her autofiction to the next level by publishing her journals—with editing help from Excel

In Alphabetical Diaries, there is no illusion of movement, no tragic downfall or a heroic arc that typically draws readers deeper. Heti recalls a feeling of dread at listening to someone’s grandmother relive past romances: “I thought about how distasteful it was to see an old woman obsessing about her romantic relationships,” she writes, “I saw it was possible; that a woman really could do that her whole entire life,” all too aware that it’s a fate that might befall her too. Even as sentences ping-pong across a decade, the predominant feeling is one of stasis.

Heti started to collect the diaries in 2010. “How Should a Person Be?” had just been published in Canada (it would come out in the U.S. two years later) and borrowed heavily from her own experience — large sections of the book are recorded conversations Heti had with her friends. The book’s events track closely with those of Heti’s life, but it also contains fictionalized experiences. “I wanted to look back on the years that I had been writing that book and remember what was true.... I wanted to do something so I wouldn’t forget what my real life had been.”

For years, Heti had no intention to publish the diaries, “and then slowly, I started to think, this is actually interesting to read.” She broke them into individual sentences, then alphabetized them in a spreadsheet, “I think I thought that if I alphabetized them, I would be able to look at who I had been in a sort of systematic, removed, more scientific or analytical way, not getting lost in the various narratives or stories,” but for a long time she struggled with what to do with them.

I read you other yandere stories and I really liked them. I was wondering if you could write a yandere alphabet for Elijah Mikaelson (like you did for Klaus). If not I totally understand. Please and thank you.

Elijah Mikaelson Yandere Alphabets

Hello my lovely anon! I love the idea and I had so much ideas so the end result might be a bit messy so sorry for that (:

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get? 

Elijah’s love language is acts of service (don’t try to change my mind), so it’s a lot of helping you to get used to your new life with him. Plus, a lot of gifts and making sure that your room in the Abattoir is just like you want it to be.  

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling? 

With you on sight, the blood shed will be a lot smaller (Elijah would never want to scare you with how much he is willing to do for you.) 

But when you aren’t there, the whole room will be covered in blood. And no matter how expensive his suit is, it means nothing when it comes to keeping your honor and protecting you.  

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them? 

Elijah is probably the most understanding of the Mikaelsons after kidnapping their darling. So, he will give you a good time to adjust to your new life (it’s the least you deserve after all that you had gone through).  

A lot of holding you and whispering how you were going to be just fine and he would never hurt you.  

Elijah would never mock you for being upset. 

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will? 

Killing people that ever hurt you and compelling your friends and family just so they wouldn't care about your disappearance.  

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling? 

We all know that Elijah has his own demons and it will take a long time just so he can admit to it.  

But when you two have found a new happy normal he might tell you a nice cookie cutter version of the past pain that he had suffered or caused. (Elijah’s last intention is to scare you.) 

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back? 

Elijah understands that you want to go back to your normal life but inside it breaks his heart. He has been nothing but good to you so there isn’t really a reason for you to try change your life with him. 

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape? 

Have you ever seen Elijah!?!? No this is nothing but a game to the Original.  

Enjoying you trying to escape is the same way. It hurts him more than he would ever tell you, but he understands that this is just a part of you learning to accept the new life that he gave (forced) you.  

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them? 

After a night of taking care of (killing) some people, Elijah came home hungry, tired and covered in blood only to see your teary face.  

Something snapped in him and the red door somewhere in his mind flew open, and he almost killed you because in centuries he couldn’t stop drinking from you.  

After you passing out e would force his blood down your throat starting the healing process before getting himself cleaned. 

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling? 

In his wildest dreams Elijah would like to have a nice normal relationship with you, where you could ignore the possessiveness and obsessiveness that he feels for you.  

Where you could be besides him no matter what he told you, and nothing could erase the love that you feel for him.  

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope? 

Is Elijah jealous? Yes! Does he show it to you? Absolutely no! 

When the vampire does get jealous, he will simply get rid of the other side of the cause of his jealousness and say nothing to you about it. After all, it’s not your fault what he or any other person feels for you, you are perfect and only a fool wouldn’t be able to see it.  

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling? 

Elijah is sweet with you, especially when you are still getting used to your new home with you.  

But after you have gotten used to it, Elijah will be the sweetest boyfriend and is ready to do whatever is needed to be done to keep you happy.  

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling? 

The courting is of course a part of your two’s relationship, he is Elijah Mikaelson after all. 

Gifts, love letters, and proper dates are practically everyday life with Elijah before and after you started your relationship.  

The kidnapping comes only after you get hurt. 

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else? 

Not really, he is less brutal when you are around but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t the same gentlemen with you or with someone else.  

Naughty: How would they punish their darling? 

This list is a lot shorter than Klaus’ xd. 

Blood drinking, depriving them of human contact but that’s pretty much it. He isn’t a big on punishing you.  

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling? 

Elijah wants you to be happy (at least as much as you can be with being taken away from your normal life). You would be mostly locked in the abattoir, but inside those walls you would be free whatever you wanted (if it’s safe of course). 

Patience: How patient are they with their darling? 

Thousand years taking care of his siblings gives him the patience of a god.  

So, you may fight as much as you like, because when you are done Elijah will take you to his arms and say that he would change anything with your behavior with you, as long as you are with him.  

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on? 

With death: Elijah will be heart broken and it’s going to take a long time to get over it, but he has eternity to get past the pain.  

With escaping: Don’t think that Elijah isn’t sending all the people loyal to him after you. And don’t think that you aren’t caught.  

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go? 

Yes!! I’m sorry to say this but guilty is Elijah’s second name. But he wouldn’t let you go, not completely at least (there would be someone making sure that you are doing fine even if you got the permission to leave the house). 

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)? 

Elijah has always been protective of the people that he loves, so the yandereness has been bubbling in him for a long time, only to burst when you walked into him life.  

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves? 

With crying/screaming: It hurts, but he understands that he needs to focus on you feeling better rather than himself. You trying to make yourself as small as possible while crying in his arms will cause his dead heart to break just for a moment. 

With isolating: Elijah will simply won’t let you. He understands that would do nothing good to you so you will be forced to interact with people (aka his siblings). 

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere? 

Punishments aren’t really a thing (I can’t think of anything else at the moment). 

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape? 

Well, this could be a long list...  

Parental issues, sibling issues, Klaus issues (Klaus needs his own category), humanity, the fact that he tries to be noble and good, your own suffering and it goes on and on and on.  

But remember that manipulating Elijah is practically impossible.  

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling? 

Drinking blood and maybe manhandling if needed, but other than that hurting you is mostly emotional (I think you would get manipulated big time if things got really bad).  

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over? 

I think Elijah would do anything for you to get more comfortable with your living situation. The respect that he has for you is going to be really subtle so you most likely wouldn’t even realize it.  

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap? 

As long until you got hurt, if you hadn’t got hurt by some vampires there might be a chance that he would have never snapped, but it happened.  

Also, there might be a chance that he sends those vampires on your way just so he could reason the kidnapping to you (mostly for himself though). 

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling? 

Breaking you would be his last effort, if he saw that you would never get passed the kidnapping (what is very unlikely, because he treats you so well). 

But if it happened, Elijah would never use that against you.

SO! I have not seen a post talking about the new rogue yet so I am going to post about it. because it has captured my brain

main issue: it does not have a NAME!!!!!!! so it's name time

I'm gonna just make a poll with a few possibilities and we can narrow it down from there
