1. how would you describe your art style? uhhhhhhhh, maybe "safe" is the word rn. whenever I think of my art style, what comes to mind is just how little I've been pushing things with it. I wanna change that ;D

2. what's your favorite thing about your style? I realize I like to use semi-realistic proportions, its cool how comfortable I've gotten with drawing faces and bodies

3. what's your least favorite thing about your style? It's so static man. same thing I said for the first question, I don't think anything really looks bad, but it just is lacking in creativity in comparison to the older art that should be looking worse than what I do now. I prefer my older stuff ;D (looking at you inktobertale2021.. where did it all go wrong)

4. favorite thing to draw? regular ol people. human characters are def more in my comfort zone, which explains why I keep hitting skeletons with the humanization ray (also I prefer to draw feminine characters)

5. least favorite thing to draw? I can't even say I rlly dislike it cuz of how rarely I even do it, but I am procrastinating so hard on learning backgrounds..

6. warm colors or cool colors? cool colors are my fav, but i find it easier to work with warm ones (I used to put a cool overlay over all my warm toned drawings hgdhfg)

7. show us a WIP behold, the wip ever. this drawing... was supposed to be posted on august 2022. and then, it was supposed to be posted on dec 21st, dream and nightmares birthday. (atp if I do end up wanting to finish this idea again, I'll probably just scrap it and start over)

8. what's the most fun and least fun parts about your process? most fun is flat color and rendering. (though I rarely do the latter anymore) and for least fun, tbh a lot of the sketching part tends to be difficult for me, sometimes its cool tho

So Mnet approved SMTM11 ep.9 review part.1 but NOT pt.2

Their approvals and denials have been SOOO inconsistent!!!! IDK if it's what I'm SAYING in the videos (something could be seen as incendiary or rude by the reviewer) or maybe some video have to many portions where I'm not talking over the background music enough (meaning it comes off as a replacement for watching ment's official video).

It's really discouraging. They blocked ALL of ep.8.

I think I'll just make part 1 public since it's already uploaded and just needs a thumbnail. IDK why the judgements are so inconsistent this season. SMTM10 they let me upload ALL of them but just gave me a copyright claim but still viewable worldwide or blocked in SOME countries. For SMTM11, almost ALL of the videos have been blocked immediately after they are done uploading. Then once disputed they were either granted or denied within the hour.

Regardless, I won't give up. I'll still edit ep.10. If it gets blocked and dispute claim denied then it is what it is. But I can't stop without at least trying to get as much out as I can. It'd be easier to just call it quits if the disputes were getting consistently denied. I might also look into other sites but I also wanna be careful where I upload these videos because they do have my face in them so I gotta make sure the sites can't take some type of weird ownership over my likeness and the videos in general.

the night of random dramas: a review

tonight i spent almost the entire shift at work watching random dramas, because i needed something to distract myself from my thoughts. but, i also didn’t want to get fully distracted from work and usually i just have something as background noise while working, so i didn’t turn on english subtitles (additional practice, hey). and so i watched a bunch of random stuff and now would like to chat about that cause why not?

i watched 2 episodes. because it only had 2 episodes. idk if it’s an ongoing or just a short story, but the 2nd episode did feel like a finale.

originally the thumbnail caught my attention, thus why i picked it for the first drama of the night. and then it started like this

a lady confesses she wants to kill someone while some creepy tunes play? i’m in. honestly, this was the most words i understood through the whole night. but i got the gist without understanding other words: three ladies are fucked over by their respective shitty guys. they meet, they decide to help each other. (i thought they were gonna help each other kill them, but, spoiler, no one gets killed). some dudes do get slapped tho, by the main character, bai ge, the one you don’t mess with. not without a reason apparently.

honestly, was pretty enjoyable to watch. the cimeamtography was there. i actually wanted to find more dramas like this for the rest of that shift, but alas

this drama gets points for having a cool start, nice aesthetic, lady friends and for being concise

a couple of points are deducted because no one died

update: it’s not a short story, it has 12 episodes in total it seems. so i guess the official youtube channel only has 2 episodes for the time being. inch resting

i watched 1 minute of the opening. it felt like it was going to be too damn cheesy romantic even for background noise. also it was too big of a mood shift right after the previous drama.

but maybe it’s good, idk, i only saw some couples being too damn sweet in the opening, but maybe someone actually gets killed in this one? who knows!

i watched 11 minutes apparently. got excited in the beginning because a) this drama is about game developers? i think? and b) it has an actress from begin again

this drama gets points for having a familiar face and a fun topic

points deducted for cliches being thrown at the viewer starting with the first 2 minuted of the drama and also for being too distracting for a person that’s trying to do her job, aka, me.

finally i thought to myself, hey, i can’t go on like this, but... i can go on LIKE THIS

jk. finishing the first episode of the previous drama i thought, i might not understand anything in whatever drama i’m watching, but i at least should be allowed to have an actually familiar face or a plot that could be at least slightly interesting to me. so i looked at my b-list of what i maybe wanted to watch, and found this drama, with xuan lu!

yes, if i wanted to look at xuan lu, i could had gone for wen tian lu, especially since i could actually go for watching wtl without english subs, but i doubt it would be a good background noise. they shout. a lot. they run around and yell. constant conflict.

anyway, something just like this, what a weird translation of this title. apparently it’s about e-commerce live-streamers. and yes, for this one i googled the summary, but first i understood what they were doing on my own, okay?

so yeah, again, points for a pretty interesting topic, stylish people going around talking business all day, having “don’t touch my car” as their theme song, one piece and pokemon figurines, insta influencers aesthetics, and of course points for having xuan lu in your drama

points deducted for not having enough xuan lu in your drama

oh yeah, and also points for featuring ads with zzh. i mean, the drama is from 2020, but still

i ended up watching 4 episodes and starting the 5th one.

this concludes tonight’s review of random dramas. tomorrow? who knows. might continue this insta influencer drama, might try out some other dramas from my b-list. or maybe i’ll try some other gong jun dramas or finish my weird friend. so many options, so much work to do.

He met Fushiguro's eyes, and balked slightly at their intensity. They always seemed to bore right through him, as if his skin was glass and Fushiguro interested himself more in what lay underneath. Not that there's anything he cares about in there.

"You're not hurt, are you? I did push you kind of hard."

Yuuji shook his head quickly. "No, I'm fine." He tried to set his mouth in a neutral line, like Fushiguro so often did.

Fushiguro nodded curtly, and turned to leave, back to where Ijichi was waiting with the car. Yuuji's fingers twitched.

Fushiguro sure looks nice today. 

Yuuji sighed and looked away. He really needed to focus on the mission. There was a grade 2 curse somewhere on the premises of this abandoned building, and if he kept staring at Fushiguro, he'd probably get— 

"Look out!" Yuuji was only briefly aware of the curse's presence before he was aware of concrete, a dull throbbing in his side as he realized Fushiguro just saved him — again — and was busy siccing his Divine Dog on the curse that appeared while he was distracted. 

This is embarrassing, he grumbled to himself.

Yuuji did his best to tune out Sukuna's voice as he got up and into battle position. Fushiguro seemed to have the situation under control, so he focused on cleaning up the lower-grade curses swarming around them. 

Something flickered at the edge of his perception. This time, he wouldn't be caught off guard — Yuuji launched himself at the curse on the other end of the room, intercepting it before it had the chance to so much as look at Fushiguro.

"I didn't need your help for that one," scoffed Fushiguro as his Divine Dog slunk back into his shadow. "Honestly, I could have done this alone. Don't know why you insisted on coming."

Yuuji bit back a retort. "I need the experience, right?"

Movie night was usually somewhat less stressful than fighting a curse. Usually. 

The film was something Yuuji was pretty sure Gojo-sensei had found at the very back of the clearance shelf. The DVD store probably paid him to take it off their hands. It wasn't even so bad it was good, it was just bad. 

Kugisaki had fallen asleep somewhere in the middle of the opening credits. At first, he'd been a little confused and concerned for her health — it was only 6 pm, after all — but sneaking a peek at her phone screen when it lit up intermittently afforded him all the clues he needed. Kugisaki had been texting Maki-senpai, probably for a while, and probably all night. 

Her phone screen lit up again — they were a few hours into the movie, and surely Maki realized she wasn't going to respond, right? Yuuji strained his eyes and recognized the thumbnail of what could only be described as a cursed image. Is that a floating banana? What the— 

Something stirred in his chest. Jealousy? Why? Because Maki and Kugisaki had only been texting for a couple of weeks, and they already shared inside jokes that made Kugisaki laugh like a hyena in the middle of the night? Because they never needed to ask, to confirm, before sharing something — a word, a bag of chips, a seat, a jacket? Because when Kugisaki looked at Maki, with that vulnerability in her eyes that she always disguised with harsh words and thinly veiled threats of violence, Maki looked back?

Yuuji couldn't stop himself from looking at the other person on the couch with him. Fushiguro looked like he was going to cry of boredom. Or punch someone. Or both. 

Should I switch the movie? I don't think he likes it. 

Well, Gojo-sensei picked it. He would probably be offended.

Yuuji looked around. His teacher was conspicuously absent. No way! He's the one who forced us all to watch this shit, and he just leaves before it's over?

"Hey, um…" The question was past his lips before he could stop himself. "Fushiguro, is there something you'd rather…" Yuuji already knew what his answer was going to be. There were plenty of things Fushiguro would rather be doing, let alone watching. Reading a book, for one. Alone. 

He received only a vague shrug in return. "Do whatever you want."

Yuuji found himself staring blankly at the floor. An oppressive silence blanketed the room, even with the vague sound effects and poorly dubbed dialogue coming from the TV. 

This is torture. Say something already.

I would if I could, okay? Unless you have any better ideas.

That managed to shut Sukuna up, at least for a moment. Good. All that was left was to sit through the last scenes of the movie and go back to his room and scream into his pillow. 

Yuuji could feel his forehead flushing and his eyes starting to burn. Oh, no no no no no. Why is this so awkward? At least Fushiguro can't see anything since all the lights are off. Or maybe he can see in the dark, like a vampire? Come to think of it, he is pretty pale… He's probably not saying anything to be polite. I bet he can see everything. I bet he's reading my mind right now with that stupid look of his. 

"I need to go to the bathroom," Yuuji said, a little louder and a little higher than he intended. Fushiguro only raised an eyebrow at him and went back to watching the screen.

As soon as he was out of the dorm common room, Yuuji sucked in a breath of air. 

"Coward."

This time, the cold voice he was so used to hearing came from the back of his hand. Yuuji didn't have anything to say in response. If he did, it would only be in agreement. How pathetic of him. 

"You're damn right that it's pathetic. It's a miracle you can even stand up straight, given your lack of a spine."

Yuuji was almost at the door to his bedroom. 

"I'll help you, just this once."

He froze. Since when did Sukuna help with anything?

"I don't believe you," he muttered.

An eye opened on his hand just to roll itself at him. "I'm the one who has to listen to your self-deprecating monologues, and I'm getting sick of it. Just tell him how you feel, brat." Sukuna's disembodied lips curled into a smirk. "If you don't, I will."

"No way!" Yuuji whisper-shouted. He practically sprinted into his room and, in the absence of a lock, pushed a chair behind his door to grant the illusion of privacy. But Sukuna wasn't done yet, and the next time he closed his eyes, Yuuji found himself ankle-deep in what he really hoped wasn't blood, and looked up a pile of ox skulls at the last person he wanted to hear romantic advice from. 

Sukuna absentmindedly picked at long, black nails. "Why don't you switch with me? I'll be sure not to embarrass myself, so don't worry about that."

"That's kind of creepy. Aren't you like, a thousand years old?" Yuuji wrinkled his nose. "Do you just want him all to yourself?"

Sukuna made a face. "Oh, that's disgusting." He made a retching sound, like a cat coughing up a hairball. "Imply that again and I'll kill you in your sleep."

Yuuji was, at the very least, thankful that the murderous curse sharing his body had standards.

"Now the image is burned into my brain. Look at what you've done, brat." Yuuji only recognized the sensation of being cut into pieces and immediately restored because of how many times his conversations with Sukuna had ended that way. Still, he stumbled a little at the sudden disorientation. 

"Hmm." Sukuna tapped his nails on a skull. "Brat, what have you been educated in?"

"Huh? Aren't you the one who complains about having to sit through my algebra classes? You already know what I'm educated in. Um," Yuuji furrowed his brow. "I took piano lessons when I was 8? Not that I was any good at it."

Sukuna sighed. "I don't care about your algebra or your piano lessons. I mean your courtly skills."

"Uh."

Yuuji heard the creaking of bone, and he was met with two pairs of blood-red eyes suddenly before him. 

"Calligraphy? Poetry?"

"No…?"

Sukuna leaned in closer. "So, nothing then? You know nothing?"

Yuuji pushed him away. "Um, you've seen my handwriting."

"Kids these days." Sukuna clicked his tongue. "How standards have fallen."

"You know, a lot of things have changed between now and when you were alive. For one, there's this new thing called personal space."

The curse ignored him. Yuuji blinked and saw the ceiling of his dorm room, back at home in his body. 

Do you at least have a brush, then?

No, weirdo. I have a pen, if that's good enough for you.

Tch.

Seriously, how are you this far behind? I thought you were starting to get this modern era stuff. 

I am trying to salvage the situation you've put me in, brat. How will you write a letter to him without putting care into your calligraphy?

Nobody said anything about a letter! 

This is how it was done in my time. You certainly don't have any better options.

"Fine, I'll Google it then," Yuuji mumbled. He opened his laptop, his fingers hovering over the keys. Slowly, he typed out "how to tell someone you like them."

The advice was all very vague. It was awkward enough to admit to himself that he liked Fushiguro in a way that went past friendship. It was worse that Sukuna's eye was wide open on his cheek and reading everything he did, reminding Yuuji somewhat of a teacher hovering behind him in the computer lab and reading over his shoulder. 

"It says you should give him a gift. I have an idea." Yuuji didn't want to hear Sukuna's idea. "You should give him the carcass of a beast you slew yourself." Yuuji didn't want to hear any more of Sukuna's ideas. 

"Sukuna, have you ever actually done this before? Because I don't think that would work, even if it was a thousand years ago."

"Why would I need to do such a thing?"

That was a little surprising. "Well, you sounded so confident, I thought you had experience or something."

"Love is a fruitless endeavor. The only thing that matters in this world is the spilling of blood upon the earth, and everything that comes between. But you're so annoying that I decided to stoop down to your level so I could help you. You should be grateful."

"Stoop down to my level? What, is this wounding your pride?"

"My pride isn't something so easily scarred. Hearing your constant chattering, all revolving around that Fushiguro boy, is much more painful than condescending to help you." 

"What's with the flowery language all of a sudden?"

"You really are uncultured."

"Well—" 

The sound of someone knocking at his door startled Yuuji out of his carefully constructed comeback, laced with a few choice words he'd learned from Kugisaki the last time she stubbed her toe. 

"Itadori? The movie's over." Oh fuck. "You left your phone on the couch." The doorknob rattled. 

"Uh, just a second!" Yuuji slammed his laptop shut and dragged the chair out of the way before opening the door.

Fushiguro blinked. "Itadori, were you watching po—"

"Nope! No, I wasn't," Yuuji said, fully aware that every word he spoke only cemented that conclusion in Fushiguro's mind. "I'm just going to take my phone now. See you tomorrow!" 

Yuuji grabbed his phone and made a move to close the door, but Fushiguro caught his wrist. His grip was firm and cool to the touch. 

"You've been acting strange lately. Did something happen?"

"I'm fine," Yuuji said automatically. His lips had probably memorized the shape of those words by now. 

"No, you aren't." Fushiguro's grip tightened a little, as if worried that Yuuji would try to snake out of it. I could try. I'm stronger than him.

"Itadori, look at me."

Shakily, Yuuji turned. Blue eyes met hazel. He felt naked somehow under the spotlight of Fushiguro's penetrating gaze. Oh god, that sounds so wrong. I don't want to think about that, not now.

"Is it something I said? Or did something else happen to you? I want to know." 

(It had nothing to do with anything Fushiguro said, and everything to do with what he didn't.)

Itadori. I need you.

"I said I'm fine."

"And I said you're not." Fushiguro sighed a little and closed his eyes. The flutter of his eyelashes was distracting. "I'm worried about you."

Fushiguro? Worried about him? 

"Why?" Yuuji knew it was a stupid question, but he was feeling pretty stupid at the moment. "Why would you do that?"

"Why—" Fushiguro's grip on Yuuji's wrist loosened in surprise. Yuuji twisted himself away, ready to cache himself in his room, but Fushiguro caught the sleeve of his hoodie instead. Worse, he stepped inside and uncomfortably close to Yuuji.

He could already feel his face turning red, and this time he couldn't rely on the cover of darkness. 

"You're seriously asking me why I worry about you?" Fushiguro's voice didn't sound quite as even as it usually did. Yuuji didn't let himself hope it was concern. "You died in front of me, Yuuji. I… I had nightmares about it for months. Of course I'm worried."

He didn't know if it was Fushiguro's sudden use of his first name, or the quiver that accompanied it, but Yuuji's blood froze. He couldn't move even if he wanted to. 

Fushiguro positioned himself in front of Yuuji, and placed a steadying hand on his shoulder. His sapphire-blue eyes, normally so cold and distant, glittered with repressed tears. Yuuji stared at his lips instead. They looked so soft. Fushiguro had been biting them again; they were slightly flushed and raw in some places. 

"Please." Fushiguro was barely whispering now, his words only meant for the two of them. "I don't…"

I don't want to lose you again.  

Yuuji opened his mouth to speak, but didn't know where to start. How could he claim insecurity now that Fushiguro had been so vulnerable with him? His anxieties suddenly seemed very small and pitiful in the face of the burden he'd saddled on his friends. It was his fault that Fushiguro was close to tears now, when he could face curses on his own without a flicker of fear. Dark, thick shame sat heavily in his throat, and all he could do was gasp for air. 

You should take off your shirt.

Indignation replaced guilt in one swift motion. I am not taking off my shirt. 

"Sorry, Fushiguro." The apology was too quick, too shallow. "I'm sorry. For… everything." The back of his throat stung. "I'm sorry for bothering you. Please, just…" Just go. Just leave me alone. 

Just leave me to die. 

"You don't have to worry about me."

It's only going to hurt you in the end.

"I'll be f—"

Fushiguro grabbed him by the back of the head, subtracting from the distance between their faces. "How many times are you going to say you're fine? Is it so hard to believe that I care about you?" 

Don't say it. 

"Is it so hard to consider that I—" Fushiguro's voice broke. A gentle flush crept across his neck as he seemed to realize how close their faces were. 

Yuuji's vision blurred around the edges. Time crawled to a standstill, and there was nothing but the slope of Fushiguro's lips, trembling with words unsaid. Yuuji could hear his heart beating in his ears. He wondered if Fushiguro could hear it too, and if he felt some small comfort in knowing that the heart he had seen torn from its body and discarded like offal had been restored, and that it could beat and bleed and break again. 

"Would you just kiss him already?" 

Yuuji would have liked to think Sukuna had kept that comment for his ears only, but the way Fushiguro reeled back and turned beet red confirmed otherwise. 

"Your purple prose is getting on my nerves. I think I preferred it when you couldn't string sentences together." The lips on his cheek curled. "Honestly, if you had just taken your shirt off like I said, this would have been over already. I should have done it for you."

"What do you have against shirts? Haven't you ruined enough of my hoodies?"

Fushiguro cleared his throat. "Um."

Yuuji's face burned. "Oh. Uh. Sorry about that."

"What is it with you and apologies? You don't have to be sorry for everything." But Fushiguro was laughing. His mask had cracked, or perhaps he removed it himself. 

Yuuji couldn't help but smile. "I'll stop being sorry when you stop acting like you don't need anyone."

Fushiguro's face darkened slightly, as if wrapped in a shadow. "Is that what it was? I—"

Yuuji punched him lightly in the arm before he could apologize. "You're so emotionally constipated." 

The tiniest of grins played on Fushiguro's lips. "So…" He leaned in closer. "What was that about kissing me?"

And this time Yuuji leaned into it, letting Fushiguro take everything he had. His eyelashes, still wet from almost crying, brushed against Yuuji's face as they breathed each other in. Yuuji found himself clinging to him like a lifeline, as if any moment he might slip away.

I'm not going to leave you behind.

He was laughing and crying at the same time. "I never thought you liked me back," Yuuji gasped when he broke away for air.

Fushiguro traced his thumb under Yuuji's eye. "You really are dense, you know that?" "So I've been told."

Is this what I was looking for?

Yuuji melted into him, kissing him like a drowning man gasps for air. How could he have deluded himself into thinking he was alone? How, when Fushiguro's body fit him like a puzzle piece, and they were embracing each other like they had never been separate? 

You're welcome. Brat.

"You know, I thought you'd at least notice all the times I was staring at you," Fushiguro mumbled sleepily. Their rhythm had slowed and now Yuuji was small and limp in his arms, playing with a strand of his hair. 

"Nope. Not even once." A sea of drowsiness threatened to engulf Yuuji, but he stubbornly resisted, if only to stay with Fushiguro for a moment more. He suppressed a yawn. 

"Gojo caught me watching you train once. He tortured me about it for a week." Fushiguro chuckled softly. "Um, he takes a lot of pictures of you. If you ever find a really blurry photo of you sparring in my room, that's why."

"Mm-hmm." Who knew Fushiguro was so warm? 

"Hey."

Yuuji's gaze flickered up to Fushiguro's eyes. Oh, he thought. They're so open. I can see right through him. 

"I'm here. Okay?"

I'm not going anywhere.

"Okay."

Neither am I.

And there was nothing but Fushiguro's breathing, and the heaviness of sleep, and the weight of words unspoken between them.

Stargirl 1.10 “Brainwave Jr.” is out now on DCU and I’m here to talk about it.

If you’ll remember from last week, we ended on the cliffhanger of Barbara walking in on Pat, Courtney, & the Staff, and now she’s going to have to learn the whole thing. From Promo it looks like a lot of drama is surrounding that, which is awesome. We can also see Courtney & Henry together in the thumbnail for today, which is probably going to be them having a bit of a spat with the rest of the JSA. I personally love drama episodes, and we know a lot more is happening than just drama, so I’m really excited to see what they have in store for us tonight.

The opening crawl is set to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, which makes this the second time the song has shown up in the DCU shows (now here, and Hank & Dawn sang it back in Titans season 2). I wonder if someone in charge has a thing for the song or what. But following that up, we get to see Pat & Barbara meet! How cute!! We got the story back in episode 1 but now we get to actually see it. They both get a banana split but there’s only banana so they share it, that’s so fucking cute. The one het coupe I support. And then move into them telling Barbara and Courtney is out here like “oh that’s a broom” like seriously? Really Court? I love how Barbara is taking no shit during this conversation. Barbara “get outta here with that Starman is your dad bullshit” Whitmore, iconic. OH SHIT AND BARBARA FUCKING KICKS PAT OUT OMG! I am living for this omfg.

And now we cut to the King’s and it seems Henry Sr has lost 10ish years of his memory, wild. I’m interested to see what this will do to Henry Sr in the future, and if his forgetting all the current ISA shit will have anything to do with Henry Jr’s character. Also, is it just me, or does it sound like Icicle killed his wife. How many loved ones of allies has Jordan killed? About two scenes later, Henry Sr mentions Jordan by name in his dreams, which really feels like conformation that Jordan did it to me. Then Jordan fucking shows up at the hospital like a bitch! What the hell man, just go die already. And now we see that there’s well over 3,300 of those VHS tapes Henry Sr was making, how obnoxious was that to move? “Merri the girl of 1,000 gimmicks,” was Henry’s mom a superhero??? MERRI’S BROTHER WAS STARMAN!?!? EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?! Hold on, I need a minute. Well, I’d say this is Henry’s motivation to try and work with the JSA.

This little scene with Pat & Mike is really sad. Mike is such a good kid, I love him. 

The Staff comes to see Courtney in her room, how cute. And then fucking dips off to the Garage by itself, and is clearly holding a grudge against Jordan, that’s awesome. The Staff is such a fun character. And then it comes to the hospital to fight Jordan & Henry Sr by itself! ICONIC!! Oop, now it’s frozen. Fuck. Anyway, the more Jordan talks, the more he sounds like a crazy Colonizer. And is Henry Jr only cowering from Jordan, or is he also cowering from his dad? 

The drama with the Whitmore family continues, Barb wants to move them both out of Blue Valley. And here comes Henry to fill in Courtney on the drama, and showcasing a new ability in the process. And thus kick-starting Henry’s involvement in the JSA and the team’s first real mission, only 10 episodes in! 

OMFG shit must be serious, Barbara emailed Sam (who comic fans know is a real piece of shit). And then later, when Jordan and his parents show up, and Barbara records what they say in Norwegian? Amazing. It seems she’s at least going to give Pat & Court the benefit of the doubt after seemingly doing some research on Starman. And further on, Sam has actually emailed her back! Are we gonna meet Sam Kurtis??

I don’t wanna talk to much about this lunch scene because there’s a lot of opinions. Yo & Rick are totally valid in their thoughts and feelings, but also, like, there’s bigger shit to worry about kids.

But which tunnel entrance do we think the kids used? At the school? Do they just keep their uniforms in their lockers?? And it’s Grundy! Soloman Grundy!! OMFG!!! Rick, sweetie, maybe don’t go yelling at the fucking zombie in the secret tunnels under the town? Dragon King is here doing some real weird looking shit to Brainwave. And the Starsquad + Henry Jr is gonna fight all these creepy zombie slaves of DK’s, and once again proving how Court & Yolanda are the most prepared for a fight, they’re th eonly ones we know have some kind of martial arts training. RICK WHY ARE LETTING OUT SOLOMAN GRUNDY?!?! Fucking idiot boy. But man do I love watching Courtney & Yolanda kick ass. Especially followed by the older villains once again proving how big a deal experience is. Oh fuck DK’s face is disgusting. It’s real gross. I do appreciate Henry Jr fighting back against Henry Sr. He, at least, is not cool with the whole supervillain killer thing, which is good. I am once again talking about how cool the CG is for Court’s staff. And Henry Jr is straight up going to sacrifice himself for the Starsquad??? Maybe we don’t hate him. If they can handle his redemption properly, I may be able to support it in the future. As long as this isn’t all of the redemption arc. 

WAIT HENRY SR KILLED HIS WIFE?!?! EXCUSE ME?!?!?! And now he’s threatening to kill his own son, real supervillain material. I’m glad Henry Jr is making the right choice though. And to see all of the Starsquad fighting so hard to help him, and Henry really apologizing for what he did to Yolanda. I’m glad it wasn’t a last minute “i love you” because that would be so unearned.

HI DCU STOP KILLING FUCKING KIDS!! I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO SAY THAT!!! AND THAT’S HOW IT ENDS!?!?!? FUCK THAT!!! Okay, but I’m still super in the Joey Lives camp, and we know that Henry Jr is at least decently important in comics, so maybe we’ll get them both back? Idk. I’m a little undecided on whether I want Henry to have survived because this really doesn’t feel like the end of his arc, but more the start. So I want to see that really get addressed. But at the same time, I want death to have consequences (unless it’s one of my loves, obviously, I’m fine with being a hypocrite for that). 

I have so many thoughts, I’m really not sure where exactly to begin (beyond what I’ve already been saying), but that’s all things we can address later. That’s it for this weeks episode, for now, which means that I’ll see you next Sunday for Stargirl 1.11 “Shining Knight” it’s a fucking Shining Knight episode guys, that’s awesome! Honestly this show just ups the bar every episode, it’s probably the best DC show around currently period. It’s amazing.

I can see what they were going for? like dean just... getting sick, falling off a ladder, getting in a car accident, etc etc would've been more potent, I think. the execution was not good. I'm not that unhappy though. it's all right. eh. it's fine. the heartfelt message from the cast (what's left of them....) and the crew was sweet. I want to know what they were intending to do? I feel like you can definitely feel the weight of COVID fucking this up which is genuinely upsetting. sam gets like 50 years of being free of dean I GUESS???? perhaps the only way to break the cycle.

at least there was no sexual assault in this episode. i have definitely watched way worse episodes of this show. it's like. twee. but I can't be mad at these guys especially with how much I know jared in particular has been struggling with the state of the world this year but jensen talked about it with rosenbaum on his show too. 2020 has been rough. like. at least they filmed it. whatever. I feel like I get what they were trying to do even if circumstances meant it wasn't really pulled off. it seems like they were supposed to have a big cast reunion and the pandemic took the wind completely out of their sails. this feels incredibly tacked on. 15x19 would've been a much better place to stop. I feel like I just read andrew dabb's notes. I get what they were trying to go for but they didn't pull it off. I thought it was gonna be a lot worse tbh in summary: EHHHHHHHHH

Does L just like to hang out in barren rooms? Is it a kind of base? Or was he maybe put there? Idk, just something I think about alot.

Hi Anon, thanks for the question! In my opinion, L is seen hanging out in vague empty rooms before his reveal simply because: 

(1) it gives his character a lot more mystery when you can’t place his surroundings, and they wanted L to be a mysterious guy to intrigue the audience

(2) Ohba and Obata had a very vague concept of L as a character when they first introduced him, and ended up changing a lot of things about his design and mannerisms after the full character reveal.This is basically the “Ryuzaki persona / First!L” debate you might see around the fandom sometimes, because there is a big difference between how L looks and acts in the beginning of the story versus how he looks and acts once he meets up personally with the task force. In the beginning, he has perfect posture, sits on the floor in a meditative pose in a nondescript room, has wavy hair, and nicely cut clothes:

Some people consider this evidence that L was putting on a “Ryuzaki” persona with all his eccentricities throughout the rest of the story as a means of manipulating people or further obscuring his identity; but Ohba and Obata confirmed in Volume 13 that this wasn’t their intention, and they simply changed his design as they went, as well as revealed his quirks over time so that we’d take him more seriously at first.

QUOTES FROM WRITER OHBA IN VOL. 13:

 When asked “What kind of person do you think L is?”: “I introduced him as a force of justice who stands in the way of Light’s criminal activity and who keeps the story going. In order to go up against Light and the Death Note, you need a “super detective.” Since it wouldn’t have been as interesting if he were too much older than Light, I made him a young man. I didn’t think up anything for his past. For him to have been in such an influential position, he must have solved an amazing amount of cases, but I have no idea what kind of cases they were or how he solved them.”

When asked “Did you ever request something from Obata-sensei in terms of character design?”: “For L, I left everything up to Obata-sensei, but he did ask me if it was okay if L wasn’t attractive. After this, I added new ideas to the thumbnails, like the way L sits and whatnot… But a lot of it also came from Obata-sensei; how L holds his cell phone, for example.”

On L’s Design: “The truth is that until he appeared in chapter 11, I was drawing him as if he were an attractive young man. But once it was time to show him, I figured it might be better if his appearance contrasted with Light’s. My idea just happened to match Ohba-sensei’s, so I switched the concept to a more odd-looking character.“

On L’s Peculiar Tastes and Mannerisms: “…I think it works best when things are revealed gradually. Had L been eating mountains of sweets before his face was revealed I think people would’ve been wondering if he was crazy, and he wouldn’t have much credibility as a super detective [laughs].”

So basically anon, I see L’s weird empty room as an extension of that. Ohba and Obata didn’t know much about L as a character yet, and they didn’t want us to know much about L as a character yet, either. The manga was very vague with it, and therefore the anime was as well.

The padded cell vibe is an interesting idea to explore though, and so is the idea that L was putting on a persona the whole time! I personally do not headcanon L as putting on an act because I’m very particular about L and I love the froggy guy we get to know so much; I don’t think L would need to make up odd mannerisms to be manipulative or to protect his identity, because he was plenty manipulative and mysterious enough already without that. But I also see why other people enjoy the concept of first!L and the Ryuzaki persona; and if fans want to headcanon it that way or make up interesting theories or stories about why L’s looks and surroundings were so different in the beginning, then all the more power to them!

Skittles and Soulmates (Part 2)

A second part to this request: Hi! I was wondering if you could do a Reddie soulmate AU! One where you are unable to lie to your soulmate, but that doesn’t start until you know who your soulmate is. So like maybe they also get matching tattoos that don’t appear until the two soulmates share a significant experience (like facing pennywise). Then when the tattoos appear that is when they are unable to lie to each other? Idk if that males since and you can tweak it if you need to. Thank you!!

It takes Richie exactly two weeks after he and Eddie realised they were soulmates, to also realise that he was hopelessly in love with the little shit.

It wasn’t something that one should just assume, just because they had found their soulmate. Some people found their soulmates and fucking hated them (Richie thinks not-so subtly of his parents here). Some people took years to fall in love with them, or even find them. Some people, like Eddie and Richie, had known each other for years and fell in love slowly, not all at once.

Richie supposed that they were pretty fucking lucky in that respect. Because of that, it took him only two weeks, after they realised they were tied at the soul, to realise he loved the dark haired, brave boy.

They’re sitting in the Aladdin when he realises. Eddie is pressed next to him, head resting on Richie’s shoulders. Next to Eddie is Ben and Bev, then Mike, then Stan, and then Bill. They’re watching some shitty Batman film, but Richie is hardly paying attention because he’s staring down at the top of Eddie’s brown-haired head with a look of utter wonder on his face.

Eddie is breathing lightly, and Richie can just about see the way his eyes flicker about the screen and how he chews slowly at his bottom lip. Their hands are joined and resting atop the armrest. Richie can’t help but notice how much bigger is own hand seems in comparison to Eddie. The sight, oddly, makes his heart swell.

He’s such a fucking sap now. What the fuck.

Feeling someone’s gaze on him, his eyes flicker to look over Eddie head, and he sees Bev staring back at him from across Ben. There’s a shit-eating grin on her face and a sparkle in her blue eyes as she watches Richie. Richie, in return, pulls a face and mouths for her to fuck off.

Eddie must feel Richie moving, because he withdraws his head from Richie’s shoulder and blinks up at the older boy, his brown eyes glassy and the light from the screen reflecting onto his face. ‘What’s up?’ he whispers and his face is so close that Richie could count the pale freckles that are sprinkled across Eddie’s nose, if he wanted to.

The words fall out of his mouth before he can even think about it. ‘Bev’s making fun of me for staring at you like a lovesick dick’. Richie sighs as Eddie grins and snorts lowly, before planting his head back onto Richie’s shoulder. Sometimes, the whole ‘not lying’ thing could be really fucking embarrassing. Still, though, it was handy sometimes. Like when Eddie admitted he liked being called Ed’s, or a few days ago when Richie asked Eddie jokingly if he looked good (he had planted a silly looking hat on his head from the shop they were in) and Eddie had immediately replied, ‘Literally always’.

Richie had teased him about it all fucking day.

Still, though, now Richie had another thing to worry about when it came to blurting shit out to Eddie. He didn’t know, not fully, if Eddie loved him yet. It scared the shit out of Richie, because what if it was too soon? What if Eddie was still getting used to the idea of them being together? His Ma hadn’t been happy about the whole thing, shouting and screaming that Richie was dirty and germ-ridden and an awful influence on her sweet boy.

Richie had kissed away the angry tears that stained Eddie’s cheeks after that. He’d been waiting in Eddie’s light blue bedroom, having snuck through the window, and heard the whole thing.

Richie didn’t know how to tell people he loved them. He knew how to act on love and hold Eddie like he was the best thing in the world (they had been created to love each other, hadn’t they? That’s was soulmates were all about, or so they’d learnt in History), but he didn’t know how to tell the boy that.

He barely watches the rest of the film as he chews on his thumbnail with his free hand and jumps when the lights in the theatre switch on and the credits roll. ‘The fuck?’ he mumbles. ‘It’s over?’

Eddie pulls away from Richie and stretches out his legs, a bemused look on his face as he eyes his boyfriend. ‘Yeah, you fucking weirdo. What’s up with you?’

The others are standing and talking about how good the film was (Stan and Bill agree that it was the best one yet) and Richie is slamming his hand across his mouth, because suddenly, he’s starting to blurt out that what’s up with him is that he doesn’t know how to tell Eddie he loves him.

Eddie stares down at him with dark brows drawn together. He understands this action. They’ve had to do it man a time in public to stop from saying anything inappropriate (like when Eddie asked Richie what he wanted to do after school in front of the other Losers, and Richie got just a bit too open and honest. Stan had looked utterly scandalised, and Richie had blushed to his fucking roots).

Instead of asking anything else, Eddie nods and shrugs. ‘Later,’ he tells Richie, before grabbing Richie’s hand and hoisting him up. The others follow them out of the theatre as they push through the crowd, and Richie feels just a little bit better and less like an idiot because he has Eddie’s hand in his own again.

When they get outside into the cool and crisp air, Mike sighs and says he should go and help at his farm. Bill nods and says he has to help Georgie with some of his homework, and Stan agrees that he wouldn’t mind coming along for that, too. It wasn’t a secret that all the Losers adored Bill’s little brother – even Eddie, who thought children were germ-ridden and gross. Ben and Bev bid the others farewell, and Richie rolls his eyes when Bev winks at Richie and sticks her tongue out, because of course she fucking knows what’s on his mind.

Bev knows everything. He’s sure of it.

‘We’re gonna go, too,’ Eddie pipes up, hand still in Richie’s, and the others nod. After Eddie’s birthday (the day they realised they were soulmates) the Losers had all come to school the next day and grinned and clapped when Eddie and Richie approached them with clasped hands.

‘T-thank God,’ Bill had chuckled. ‘We k-knew you guys were soulm-mates!’

They all go their desperate ways, and Richie has his mouth clamped shut and his palm sweaty in Eddie’s. Should he tell Eddie? He glances sideways once again, heart all but melting when he sees that Eddie’s grey jumper is far too fucking big for him, and his curly hair is blowing lightly in the chilly wind.

Fuck. Why does he have to be so fucking lovely looking?

They get around a corner where the street meets a long plain of grass, and Eddie tugs Richie over to it before leading him over to a bench. Richie follows, knowing what was coming and almost fucking dreading it, because he’s not fucking good at this kind of thing. Soulmates sometimes didn’t love each other at all. His parents were proof enough of that. Their souls seemed to be bound from their mutual dislike of each other, love of vodka, and dislike of their only son.

‘I’m going to ask you again,’ Eddie says, plopping onto the bench and crossing his legs, facing Richie. He’s wearing shorts again, and Richie doesn’t know how he isn’t fucking freezing. Richie plonks onto the bench and slips Eddie hands out of his. He’s wearing a fur lined denim jacket and his usual black jeans, but he’s suddenly cold all over. ‘Is that okay?’

Richie bites his lip and says, ‘I don’t fucking know’. Because, really, he doesn’t fucking know. This feels weird. Part of him once to fucking sing or dance out a musical number about how much he loves Eddie, but the other half of him wants to hide away in a hole and never let the words pass his lips. ‘Fucking stupid,’ he grumbles, kicking his boots out onto the grass.

Eddie rolls his eyes. ‘Shut up, douchebag. Look, what’s wrong?’

The words bubble in his throat like fucking dishwater; swirling about until they come pouring out of his mouth. He stares at the ground, hands clasped on his lap and fuck he needs a cig, before he’s breathing in deeply splurging out his fucked up proclamation of affection. ‘I just…just really fucking love you, Ed’s. Like love. In love. I’m in love with you. Fuck. Yeah. Shit’.

There’s a moment of silence and then Eddie is uncrossing his legs and clambering across the bench and grabbing Richie’s face in his pale, delicate hands that are kind of dry from the amount of hand sanitizer he uses. He’s wrenching Richie to face him before Richie can even blush at his own words, his mouth pressing to Richie’s with an almost bruising kind of force.

‘Ow!’ Richie yelps, laughing and grabbing Eddie by the shoulders. ‘Shit, dude! I’m fucking delicate, you know?’ He laughs at Eddie’s bright red face, before pulling him back and kissing his cheeks with wet sounds that he knows annoys Eddie.

‘Ask me,’ Eddie demands, pulling back and glaring at Richie with a ferocity that makes Richie laugh. ‘Ask me!’

Richie sighs and stares into Eddie’s eyes oh-so dramatically. ‘Eddie Kaspbrak,’ he says grandly, whipping his long curls out of his face. ‘Light of my life. Do you love me?’

‘Yes, you fucking idiot,’ Eddie breathes.

The kiss he bestows upon Richie is gentler this time, and Richie doesn’t know if anything could ever feel so amazing. It’s the not the fact that someone loves him that makes his heart swell and his stomach twist. Nah.

It’s the fact that Eddie Kaspbrak loves him.
