I went with Bingge reverse transmigrating to streamer Shen Yuan, who thinks it's some cosplayer in his home, and proceeds to comment on his 'Luo Binghe' outfit
I so desperately want to book bind again, my own fic specifically because (1) the only permission I would need is my own (2) I don't feel like i've ruined or done a disservice if I fuck it up and (3) holding a physical weighty book in your hands that you wrote is very good for the brain no matter what size and I highly recommend it for my fellow writers
That being said I would want a cool looking cover but idk if I would use something I've already drawn or draw something new. I have ideas but none of them are like, clicking
this is my second ever hardcover, first ever faux leather, first ever metal corners, and first bind of my own fic!
featuring art by myself and @chernozemm , and a hand painted cover because i couldn’t figure out any other way to decorate it lmaoooo. now i just gotta do this three more times for mine, meg, and zemm’s copies 🤞
Personally, I absolutely adore the paper and bookcloth combination on this bind. I got the cloth a while back for free and I’ve been waiting for a chance to use it, and then my friend Cam got me this paper as a gift! It seemed way too perfect to not use!
This was a very exciting bind, because it gave me the opportunity to try something completely new, gilded edges!!
Although it didn’t turn out perfect, I’m still super proud of how clean it ended up. Plus, I personally think the flaws make it better :D
The typesetting here was very exciting for me. A few months ago Ty held a tattoo contest for the fic, and I couldn’t not use them when I saw the two finalist designs. So I went ahead and contacted the artists, and they both said I could use them!!
Title page design: @eldrigeonsss
Chapter header design: @sheeeeeeeepherd
Thank you both again for letting me use your beautiful work!
You can read the fic here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/42798252/chapters/107512251
The last book for Binderary was Mon Horrible Chéri by @mrghostrat, a Good Omens Aziraphale/Crowley fic! I made two copies for this, one for a friend and an author copy:
(Since my friend came to visit she got to pick her cover and also give me insight into what would be good for the author copy!) For the author copy, we went with a blue/red combo (which comes up in the end bands later too) with some buildings on it, and while not necessarily Parisian buildings, it fit the vibe. Then to top it all off I did a silver toner-reactive foil for the title.
I really played into the coffee/tea theme with chapter titles and the chapter list being styled like café signs, printed end pages with coffee/tea/Eiffel Tower, and more~
I even got to include some of Bilvy’s art from the fic (my printer may or may not have crapped on a couple of them oops)
Stylistically I got to mess around with my headers/footers and did something I don’t normally do with page numbers on top. And then for the end bands I went with a white/blue and black/red combo for the main duo!
My contribution as a binder for the Renegade Guild's Tiny Books Bang 2024
The idea is to split typesetter and bookbinder so I got the chance to bind 2 copies of this text. One for the wonderful @simply-sithel as the typesetter, one for myself.

i read this over christmas and was OBSESSED like was sneaking off to read it during family time obsessed. she came in at like 700 pages and i had to physically wedge her into my guillotine for trimming, but i’m so proud of her!! the covers didn’t come out perfect (but then they never do LMAO) but i’m pretty satisfied!!
bound in peel and stick green flocking, gilded with bronze toner foil and gold htv for the cover!
i did indeed mess up the title, cut it out, and then iron it on all without realizing. but let’s not talk about that LMAO. i swear to god i didn’t just decide to rename the fic i had one of the biggest brain farts ever known to man.
Thought I'd share my first attempts at 3 piece bradel bindings seeing as they're the first books I've made in a long time. They're pretty wonky, I was trying to figure out the right measurements for the hinge on the fly and honestly I was a bit lazy with gluing the covers but they're not bad!
Hi hello! So I saw your video about book binding and I wanted to offer a tip for people looking to try it out if that’s ok. So I’m working on binding a book right now and am following a YouTube tutorial. I’ve found most of the process pretty straight forward and relatively easy except for one step. The step where you cut the edge of the text block so that it’s all nice and even after you sew the signatures together. It sounds easy in theory but in practice I find it much harder so I found a solution. Instead of trying to even out the terrible job I did on cutting the pages I called my local staples and they said they’d be happy to give the edge of the text block a neat straight cut using their industrial paper cutter if I bring it by. I’m not sure if every staples would be up for this or have an industrial paper cutter but I figured it might be worth a shot if anyone else struggles with this step of the process. Will update with costs and results when I return from staples in a couple hours.
Staples update: it cost $8 CAD to get the edges of my text block trimmed it would’ve only been like $3 but then I would’ve need to wait a day to pick it up and I need to finish the project today so I had to pay extra for a rush order. Other than that though they did a fabulous job!! It’s so crispy and neat now I am in love with it. I would probably do it again but I would plan better so I don’t need to pay for a rush order lol
Good tip, anon! I've also done that, because trimming text blocks sucks tremendously and it's surprisingly hard to do well.
I will point out that you're likelier to have luck getting someone to do this at a local print shop as opposed to a franchise like Staples. Local shops are usually more able to give you a random price for a weird job, and sometimes the franchises wind up with cashiers that go "I don't have a button on the register for that so we can't do it," even though nobody's going to inventory how many chops the commercial guillotine did and I will hand you ten dollars cash money to go chop my text block. Most print shops will indeed have an industrial cutter, because almost any print shop is going to offer printing services that include full-bleed orders, which means trimming.
Anyway. Go local, and if there's any flexibility to the spine of your text block, make sure that the employee doing the chopping knows exactly how it needs to be positioned during cutting. And also give them registration marks to trim to.
