before i go to bed. something triggering you doesn’t inherently make it bad. being triggered from things is valid but taking it as inherently bad is just unhelpful because what’s a trigger to one survivor is comfort to another. making fun of abusers makes me more confident in speaking out, so jokes of that nature help me. they also hurt some people. and being hurt is okay but that doesn’t mean the first group of survivors should not be allowed to do that. certain songs trigger me, and i can’t call it immoral if they’re played. a joke that’s basically “groomers are evil people” is not offensive nor is it all that shocking. it can be triggering, but you literally cannot expect the world to revolve around that, especially if that’s impacting another survivors coping mechanism. survivors should be given leniency because that shit literally fucks you up for life if you’re going to hate on a survivor that made one mistake you are anti victim. yes even if you are a victim. the perfect victim mentality is a hell of a drug, and makes you feel superior, but it’s a poison pill. learn some compassion and when someone goes “i was making a joke about my own trauma” just like. let it the fuck go. especially if you’re a stan of someone who made jokes about having sex with a sixteen year old and then blamed the sixteen year old because that is triggering things that are comforting to exactly zero survivors actually.
