Manga Collection Update #2 (End Of) March 2023 - The 1000 Volume Milestone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hey, this isn't your collection, this is a haul!" - people reading this. And those people would be correct, I just thought it'd be cool to save this haul here because it's what got me to 1000 volumes in my collection. Yeah, 1000 volumes of manga, LN, and art books. Really insane stuff when you stop and think about it (I beg you do not think about the retail value of 1000 volumes of manga).
Anyways, the point of me making a collection update post about is to sort of ramble aloud about some questions and preconceptions I had about what a 1000 volume collection would be.
Does It Seem Like A Lot?
When I tried to quantify what 1000 volumes would be, even just last year I wouldn't have thought it would be what I have. A thousand of something seems like an incredible amount that you wouldn't be able to visualize easily. Like shelves going on and on forever almost, but it's not. In total, it's only about three of Ikea's full size Billy shelves (due to space constraints I don't have full sized ones for every shelf). But when you think about that, "Only 3 shelves", 1000 volumes seems almost comical. Even more than that, when you think of listing 1000 volumes (or the series that comprise that number), it makes you think that it's a lot, so much that you wouldn't be able to name them. But when I stop and think about it, I'm pretty comfortable that I'd be able to name 90% or even a bit more of the manga in my collection.
I guess at the end of it, it really feels a lot smaller than the number "1000" makes it seem like it would be. It's all stuff I've read (or am reading), and it's all stories that I can remember to a somewhat decent degree. It's a ridiculous accumulation of money, but at the end of the day it's a hobby, I'd find something else to spend the money on.
Does My Collection Meet My Expectations?
A weird question to phrase, but it's all about whether or not my collection is like what I thought it'd look like at 1000 volumes. And I'd say, yes and no. There's things I figured would be here, but at the same time loads of things that end up missing. I would have swore up and down I'd have Love Is War in my collection by now, but I don't! I would have thought I'd have That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime or Overlord in here as well, or even something like Death Note or maybe Naruto. But they're just not here.
In terms of what is in the collection that I'd never have expected: older shojosei. I didn't think I'd ever have something like Wallflower or Kare Kano in there. Not that I'm not a fan of either, but that they're incredibly rare and typically exist outside of what I pursue. But when they're offered at 5 dollars a volume I'm not gonna say no. Further outside of that is stuff like Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei or all the NGE side stories. Some of these things cost an arm and a leg so they were pipe dreams for me, but stars have aligned for more than a few moments in my time collecting, and allowed me to have a shot at them.
It's hard to say what's in my collection that I would have thought odd, because I don't have any sort of hindsight on that and I think they're all perfectly normal and interesting now. Like Heterogenia Linguistico, a series about a linguist wandering a world full of different types of species with different forms of communication. Or Himouto Umaru-Chan, a peculiar slice of life about the unseen side of the class princess as she nerds out at home with her older brother. There's a lot of things that I probably didn't expect when I was beginning, but now they feel perfectly normal.
What's My Favorite Thing Out Of All 1000 Volumes?
Wow, what a loaded question me! Well, a bit of a boring but also somewhat uncomfortable answer is my Berserk Deluxe Volume 1 (which I'm still yet to continue collecting). I bought it slightly after my birthday, the day that Kentaro Miura died, which coincided with my great-grandmother's death. As many people receive from grandparents, I was given a card with some crisp bills inside, and was told to "spend it on whatever I liked, don't listen to your parents". I was undecided for a few days on just what I should get with it, a full set of Hunter x Hunter that I found used online, or a Berserk Deluxe edition? As it happened, Fate ended up choosing the latter for me. It's also part of why I've been apprehensive/slow about continuing to collect those deluxe editions. Right now it's 1 of 1 in my collection, something that stands out, but if I put it beside a bunch of other volumes that look almost the same I feel like it'd lose the value and sentiment it holds for me.
Where To Next?
I'm someone that always chases goals, I never really revel in my achievements or milestones. When I completed my degree and got it in the mail, I just sorta smiled before tucking it away neatly. There's never been anything that I've basked in. With my collection though, I feel slightly different. I want to show it off a little, I want to excitedly share it with my friends and swap notes and compare collections. It's not that I didn't choose most if not all of what I've done in my life, but this is something else. It's a part of my adult life, something that I'll carry forward with me, rather than it being done. You can only go so far with other aspects, only climb a corporate ladder so high, only go so far with post-secondary education. So maybe more than the elation of reaching so high, it's the excitement at the fact that I have so much more left to go.

I don't think I've been deranged enough lately so here.
People have all kinds of aesthetic and even moral reasons for their media format preferences, but I'm pretty sure mine are just based on what feels Less Far Away.
Like, as a general rule, streaming (through either an official service or 123pirates or whatever) is Farthest Away, and thus not my first choice. But when it comes to video, it's not THAT much Farther Away than physical media, and much more accessible, so it's kinda whatever. I miss when torrenting movies and shows was more prevalent because that was nice and Close.
But I generally don't stream music unless I'm looking for new stuff to download, because the Farness is so much greater than my preferred format. MP3s are basically contiguous with my brain!
Ebooks are also brain-contiguous! Generally it goes cloud -> physical -> digital file, from Farthest to Closest. Except for comics/manga, which are Closer as physical books. But as with video media, it's not THAT much Closer. It's a slightly larger gap, but not enough to create the almost full exclusivity that happens with music and books.
With video games, handheld games are a smidge Closer, but the difference between formats is negligible as far as I can tell.
And of course, none of this ultimately matters, because the best way to experience something is to experience it, and that sometimes means just taking it however you found it, even if the form it came to you in is Very Far Away. Generally it's only books and music where the Farness difference drives me to seek the thing I found in my preferred form. And usually comics I guess, but I generally won't go on a wild goose chase for something that is much much more accessible in its Less Close form.
Oh, and sometimes something is only available one way! That's fine. I'll take it that way unless it's prohibitively expensive (a new hardback is highway robbery) or requires a machine or service I don't have/can't get (it too may be prohibitively expensive). Usually if you wait it ends up existing in a more available form. I'm good at waiting and there's lots of other stuff in the meantime!
So yeah. Not doing that Spotify thing because the music there is Far Away. In another dimension practically! But am about to start reading Gintama online because I don't want to start collecting a series that I'll never finish because they stopped making it here. I'd rather have the whole thing a little Far Away than have a shelf of incomplete comics the rest of my life.
(And I guess that's another factor: balancing Farness with Having the Whole Thing.)

Decks On My Desk - February 23, 2023
It was an intensely messy week for my desk this week. Technically, there were more decks on my desk but I started cleaning before work this morning and forgot I was starting this little series. Whoops!
Left hand column:
Light Visions, Prisma Visions, and Cosma Visions in both standard and little editions, all by James Eads. It's been a James Eads week here on my desk in general. I still want to do a full overview of my feelings on these decks another time, so for now just know I am still in love with the Littles and it is giving me a new appreciation of the full size decks. (Not a deck, but the Geomantic Visions coins are also out on my desk, I am that committed to it being a James Eads week.)
Top Row, left to right:
Mystical Manga Tarot. This was a big one for me in January-- somehow I actually haven't read with it at all in February! It's actually out because I was rummaging through some other decks and it happened to land on my desk in the process. Lovely deck, just not in current use.
Mermaid Tarot. Covered this one last week, it is still out because it is one of my workhorse, all purpose readers and I am feeling that watery energy. (Can I blame Pisces season even though I don't know what I am talking about? Sure.)
The Zerner-Faber Tarot. Also known as the really small version of the Enchanted Tarot, a deck made of textile collage images. This one I actually found at my old job and it is one of my personal favorite small decks. It's packed with little details and the Two of Hearts (Cups) has a wee little Eros and Psyche on it. (The full size version of this is on my display shelf for Valentines this month.)
Bicycle Aviary Playing Cards, black backs. As noted last week: there's almost always a playing card deck on my desk. This one is actually the most common culprit, I like the coloring and the font of it. Plus: cute barn owls on the back.
Bottom Row, left to right:
Sefirot Tarot, standard and playing card editions. A new arrival-- the playing card size actually comes with the Sefirot board game, which I am very keen to try next time I have a free afternoon. I missed the kickstarter and was super worried I would have to wait for the Mass Market edition and miss out on the board game entirely. Luckily, extras exist!!! (If you are interested the link is HERE.) I am really liking this deck so far. The guidebook definitely follows the Marseilles/numerology tradition of tarot, which I am less familiar with as a die hard RWS reader... but it's so beautiful and I never mind hearing a fresh take on the cards.
Inversion Tarot. A US Games "In-A-Tin" deck, on my desk primarily because I was talking to a friend about pip decks and this sure is one of those. It's a cute little deck, blends the RWS and Marseilles imagery really well. The white-on-black art is really fun. That said... I rarely take this deck out. Maybe I will keep it out in hopes of playing with it more this week? We'll see.
Green Glyphs Lenormand (under the Inversion Tarot)-- another James Eads deck. This is one of my favorite lenormand decks in my collection. I am delighted that the full Green Glyphs divination set (tarot, oracle, runes, and lenormand) is coming out this year. As much as I like the detailed Visions decks, the simplicity of the Green Glyphs may just be my favorite art to come from James Eads.
Open Portals Oracle/Playing Cards, also by James Eads. The box has both the light and dark versions of the deck. One of the most balanced oracle decks I have ever worked with, and one of the most beautiful. I may just keep this one out for a bit.

SIZE OF PAPER -------------------------------------------------------------
5 inches x 7.5 inchesThe typical size of modern manga published in the United States is 5 inches x 7.5 inches.
------------------------------------------------------------- Manga Industry Standards Keep these common features in mind when you design your manga: Binding: Perfect bound Size: 5 inches x 7.5 inches Cover Paper: 10pt cover gloss or matte Cover Finish: Gloss or matte laminationInside Pages: 70lb text uncoated -------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
From right to left is:Japanese light novelJapanese mangaJ-Novel ClubYen PressSeven SeasAs far as I know, most Japanese light novels and manga are the same size regardless of publisher.J-Novel Club's books are the same size as Japanese manga.
--------------
here are some comparisons of all the popular tablet sizes next to a comic (if I've missed any let me know and I'll add more pics). Here you can see that although the 16:10 aspect ratio is closer in proportions to a comic book, the biggest 16:10 currently on the market is much more narrow than a comic. On the other hand the 4:3 aspect ratio fills the width of the comic much better but is not as tall. I prefer 4:3 for comics because a 9.7" tablet while auto cropping out the edges in Chunky or any other reader makes the text and images bigger than even the 10.5" 16:10 tablet. The 11" iPad pro is almost exactly the same width as a comic with just under 1.5" of gap above or below, making it the best choice in my opinion. Full screen pages will look slightly smaller than the 10.5" 16:10 but much bigger while cropped. The 12.9 is a beast and is bigger than a comic book. I have been reading on an iPad 4 which is 1.6 pounds so I know personally that I wouldn't be comfortable holding the 12.9" pro at even 1.4 pounds, weight is one of the main reasons I want a new tab, so for me that leaves the 11" pro. Phew! Buyers anxiety over.Hope this helps someone out, I keep reading online in debates about whether 10.1" 16:10 is better than 9.7" 4:3 and for me I say no. 10.1 is too small to comfortably see the text so you'll either end up holding it in the air closer to your face or zooming and having to swipe left to right, then up and down and repeating until at the end of the page. With a 9.7" all you do is crop and scroll as you read, it feels very natural and the text is a good size. This is why I'd say almost any 4:3 tab is better for comics than their 16:10 counterparts.Edit: I added the 12.2" 16:10 found on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro. It comes in at a hefty 1.5lbs but is very close in dimensions to a comic, its taller by 1/8" and slimmer by 1/4". The best fit though is definitely the 12.3" 3:2 Microsoft Surface which is virtually if not literally exactly the same height as the comic and is only wider by 1/8". The last two Surface tablets came in at 1.7lbs though so I'd say they're a bit too heavy to comfortably read from and are better on-desk devices. These are just my opinions though that I'm basing solely on the fact that I dislike the weight of my 1.6lb iPad 4. I stand by my original rankings as I think anything over 1lb is a bit too uncomfortable to be holding in the air in front of you, or even in your lap supporting the back of it with your hand, but again, just my opinion.Best Budget: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" @ .85lbsBest Mid Range - iPad 10.2" @ 1.065lbs, iPad Air 10.5" @ 1lbBest High End - iPad Pro 11" @ 1.03lbs

They have similar size variations across publishers, rather than each publishers having their own size. Practically, it helps as guide for maximizing shelf size.

------------------
Japanese manga are regularly published in three different sizes (plus a small number in full A4 size.) The size usually used for shonen manga, the size usually used for seinen manga, and the larger size used for kanzenban or series that warrant the luxury treatment.Light novels are mostly either in bunko or tankobon sized, largely depending on the target age bracket. Tankobon size is roughly the same as the default seinen manga size and J-Novel Club's releases

mun things / share your self-care
favorite comfort food: It’s a toss up between my mom’s chicken and dumplings, my auntie’s tempura, or stewed beef tips on a bed of rice.
favorite relaxing activity: Playing piano! I play a few instruments, and my mood tends to influence which ones I gravitate towards at the moment. If I’m angry and need to let out some steam, I go for drums or other percussion instruments, but if I’m sad, happy, or just in a mood for some chill vibes, I always seem to go for my piano.
favorite book: Honestly I haven’t read an actual full novel in a couple of years. My comfort reading nowadays tends to gravitate towards my collection of Naruto manga since I can just pick up wherever I want at any time based on what I’m feeling. Naruto is something I’ve collected since I was a kid, probably the only manga I’ve consistently bought, and it always fills me with heart-warming nostalgia every time I pick a volume from the shelf. The series ended a few years ago (and I stopped reading Boruto a few volumes in because YIKES) so I don’t have new chapters to look forward to, but thankfully the old ones are still as enjoyable to read now as they were fifteen years ago.
favorite calming scent: I love the “fresh linen/cotton” smell in general. I also really like Bath & Body Works’ “Winter Candy Apple” scent specifically because my mom and I always buy it during the Christmas season so it’s associated with a lot of my best family memories this time of year. Also Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrances (usually from B&BW too) because it’s the one I’ve bought since I was young, and I’m obsessed with it to the point where I’ve gotten little scent candles and things to make my house smell like that, so now the smell reminds me of home because it’s the scent I’ve associated with my home for almost a decade now.
favorite uplifting song: Asking me to pick a favorite song in any category is impossible lmao but a few current uplifting favs are “Over Yet” by Hayley Williams, “Up&Up” by Coldplay, and “Blinding Lights” by the Weeknd (idk if it’s meant to be uplifting but the music gets me energized either way).
favorite white noise: Ok this is weird but really low tv dialogue. If I have trouble sleeping, sometimes it helps to turn the tv on and turn the volume down low enough where I can’t understand what they’re saying but I can still hear it. I know this sounds weird but I’m hella adhd and it’s like the noise “distracts” that part of my brain, in a way. Also the low light is really calming.
favorite chill-out TV show: The Office. Always has been and always will be.

A Twinkle in the Dark | Muku Sakisaka
This is my zine piece for A3 Tarot Zine! It was my first time writing for a zine and for Muku. I revised this a lot of times because on the first few months, I direly needed to fix my writing, and most of all, my instincts always told me that I could still improve. I really hope I portrayed Muku well. Anyway, I’m thankful for this experience and I will use it to improve more!
To commence, I am now open for requests! Please see the rules. (UPDATE: I am closed for requests)
Check out the fantastic artworks and fan fics here!
There is also an AO3 Collection of A3 Tarot Zine fan fics! I think the name collection is ‘A3 Tarot Zine.’ However, I can’t add mine there since I don’t have an account :”D
Tumblr media
A mere injury. It took a mere injury for him to quit the track and field club.
It has been weeks, yet the scar on his heart still dripped blood. He shut his eyes as he felt a subtle throb from his right foot. Muku hugged his legs close to his chest. It wasn’t a mere injury at all. How could it be, when it was the main reason his dream was shattered to tiny pieces? They can only be swept away into the dark corners of the bin, never to see the light again.
At the corner of his eye, Muku jumped as he noticed the vibrant colors of his room began to dissipate. When Muku adjusted his position, his eyebrows furrowed. His feet almost touched the edge of the bed, which is odd. Looking down, he gasped as he saw the bed slowly shrinking. But not only that. All of the objects, even his room, began to dwindle.
Muku bolted to his feet and opened the door. However, instead of marble tiles, his feet pressed on black soil.
Muku slowly looked up.
Monochrome hues tinted his surroundings, but what made Muku’s hair stand on its end were lifeless trees towering over him. Their long and horrifyingly thin trunks acted as their bodies, while the hole served as an eye empty of white. He trembled as their branches looked like claws that would ensnare him once in reach.
But what caught his eye are the words roughly carved on the trunks.
Those memories he locked inside his mind bursted open. He remembered his ankle suddenly tilting during a running session that made his body stumble on the ground. His mind was still familiar with his reaction at the sight - wide eyes, goosebumps, and rapid beating of his heart.
Just like what he was currently feeling.
His mind urged him to run far away and escape from this horrible world. However, his body betrayed him as he sunk to his knees.
His (former) teammates had hopes that he would be the ace. They cheered him on, saying he deserved it. Until that moment, he didn’t know two words could dissipate those hopes into thin air and make him live miserably.
‘I quit.’
Tumblr media
He didn’t know what time he slept again, but the horrid image he saw on the mirror hanging on the wall told it. His pale skin made him qualified to be a ghost in addition to the dark eyebags dangling underneath his eyes.
He knew he needed to rest, however, he wanted to read a new manga in hopes of relieving him from ‘that.’
Muku slowly stood up, approaching the tall bookshelf beside his study desk on the side. The bookshelf was full of books of all sorts, with the manga leading in number. His eyes scanned every title until it landed on one.
He touched the spine of the manga, his fingers ghosting over the smooth texture. Then he removed it from the shelf. Muku inspected the cover. He swooned as he saw the protagonist’s crown on his head, cape draped on his shoulders, and the sword beside his hip. Then he blushed as there was a woman in a dress with a bright grin that outshined the Sun behind them.
When Muku opened it, it was as if his time became parallel to the prince's world. He cheered for the protagonist when he fought a gruesome battle to protect his lady. There was also a scene wherein the prince confessed. Not only his lover cried at his words, but even the reader himself.
Muku gasped as his surroundings suddenly changed. The trees embodying the monsters appeared with that horrid word still carved on them. However, they seemed to be bolder and bigger as if they wanted it engraved in his soul.
‘I still failed to be an ace.’ Muku choked as he attempted to hold back his tears. However, each of them escaped from his eyes. He abruptly sat on the ground, wailing out to the silent world. His heart hurt. It felt like someone wanted to rip it out and mercilessly step on it.
Through his blurry vision, he saw a twinkling light an inch before him. Its radiating glow was like a spell that stopped the flow of his tears. Muku blinked as he wiped his tears with his hand. Somehow, the twinkle glimmered like a crown as the father laid it on his son. The sunlight beamed on the crown as if approving the newly-crowned prince.
Muku’s eyes slowly widened. He opened his mouth but closed it again. Can he pursue a dream again? What if the same thing will happen? However, being a prince looked so cool like in the shojo manga, especially when he still faced battles despite losing several times. Muku wanted to be cool too.
“I don’t know if I can, but . . .” When Muku stood up, he directly looked at the twinkle. “I want to be a prince.”
When his finger touched it, his body began to fade into a white glow. With a smile, he never noticed the word carved on the trees fading.
Tumblr media
This was the first step in becoming a prince, but Muku was already trembling as the lights glared at him. He tried to take deep breaths to calm his racing heart, except all air was forced out of him as the Director called their attention.
Then the words that came out from her made Muku blink. He, a good-for-nothing who can’t even say good morning confidently, will act alongside Tenma Sumeragi? But that thought disappeared when Kazunari, whom he just met minutes ago, wrapped an arm around him with a warm grin on his face.
However, once rehearsals started, Muku was already walking on eggshells. He always stuttered out his lines, and when Tenma pointed that out, Muku’s stammering worsened.
“I can’t deal with all of you, especially you, Sakisaka!” Tenma yelled before slamming the door shut on his way out.
Does he even have the right to act any more after being told that? His surroundings dimmed at that thought.
Muku sat on his bed, a depressive sigh escaping past his lips. He glanced down at his script with multiple sticky notes peeking between the pages. His hand reached out to it, but he stopped. It felt sinful - an unworthy actor touching a script.
Muku was about to turn away, but a small light suddenly bursted in between the pages. Out of curiosity, he opened it. Seeing his name alongside his role ‘Sinbad’, he remembered - Tsuzuru wrote the roles with them in thought, and the others were working hard to show the best play. Tenma was right - it was because of his lack of confidence that practices weren’t improving. He hindered them from performing their best, and he knew he needed to do something.
Kazunari, who was silently sitting on his bed the whole time, noticed him. “Mukkun, are you alright?”
Muku nodded. “Yes! Thank you, Kazu-kun.”
Kazunari didn’t mirror his expression. “You sure? I’m all ears.”
“Yes, but I will work hard to meet everyone’s expectations!”
And so, before Muku slept, he stood in front of the mirror with the script and a red pencil in hand. In the first days, red lines were frequently scribbled under the dialogues. Nevertheless, the image of his team’s and audience’s smiles made him practice until he got the right feel. Kazunari sometimes joined him, adjusting his pitch and making dramatic gestures when reciting lines of other characters. The first time that happened, the session only ended with laughs. But as time passed, the red in his script quickly lessened and the exchanges looked more natural.
Though there was still a crucial step needed to be done.
Once Muku got to borrow ‘The Arabian Nights’, he spent his free time reading the whole volume. People always see that thick book close to his face to the point Yuki told him that the book would become a part of his face one day. But if it will help his troupe mates, Muku wouldn't mind. However, he didn't expect it would be during the Summer Camp, which the director planned for a change of environment.
The other members and Director stood at the sidelines while Tenma and Yuki stood at the center of the wide rehearsal room. The marble floor reflected their image while their dialogue exchanges resonating in the room.
“That’s not how you say it,” the leader suddenly said. “Scheherazade’s about to marry the king.”
Yuki turned around, his brows furrowed. “So what if she is?”
"Um, I know. . ." Muku, then, explained Scheherazade’s story of how she told stories with indefinite endings to keep herself alive after marrying the King. Yuki nodded his head - being forced to marry an executioner, how miserable can your life be (if ever you’ll have a life after)?
“I’ll give you credit for that,” Tenma said.
Then Yuki called the boy. “Tell me more about the story later for the costumes.”
Muku grinned. “Yes!”
Tumblr media
After a delicious dinner of the director's curry, all of the troupe members gathered outside. The moon and stars greeted them with their light, making all of them illuminate.
Matsukawa raised both of the plastic bags in his hand, a grin plastered on his face. “Summer is nothing without fireworks!”
“Awesome, Sukecchi!” Kazunari said. “Guys, let’s go!”
“Will there be triangle fireworks?” Misumi asked while following Kazunari. All of them lined up towards Matsukawa to get one sparkler. Kazunari was the last as he set up the other fireworks on the ground.
“When those explode, bits will go into your head,” Yuki warned. The others laughed it off, but the leader gulped.
When Kazunari was doing the countdown with the lit-up matchstick in his hand, Tenma grabbed a helmet out of nowhere and pushed Muku down. “Get down!”
“Woah!”
Loud crackling sounds rang throughout the camping site. Tenma shut his eyes the whole time, his hands securing his helmet while his arms covered his ears. Suddenly, a finger poked his arm. “T-Tenma-kun…”
Once Tenma opened his eyes, he inspected Muku for burns, which he sighed in relief when he found none.
As Tenma pulled Muku to stand, Yuki cackled. He clutched his stomach, tears almost spilling from his eyes. “I can’t believe the hack fell for it!”
Tenma gawked at him. “Wh-wha…”
Misumi cheekily giggled that infected Kazunari, until all of them were laughing. However, it was uncertain whether it’s because of Tenma’s gullibility or simply out of happiness. For Muku, it was the latter.
A warm feeling bloomed inside him as he looked at each of his new friends. Muku never thought he would be able to break free from the hopelessness until he met them. Before, he was a boy who let his mistakes overwhelm him. Now, he’s someone who chases his dream even when he falls. A smile formed on his lips. They helped him grow through acting - an endeavor he did not consider before dreaming to be a prince.
Another batch of fireworks painted the night sky, but Muku’s eyes were focused on the twinkle that adorned the vast. They were bright, like the hope he saw within his friends.
Muku closed his eyes, letting the tears pour out as he thanked the twinkle in the dark.

<<< The first meeting >>>
The first time you met Yoongi's eyes wasn't really that special.
There was no sign of your heart skipping a single beat, if there was, you're 100% sure he's not the reason behind it because 1) you pretty much believed it's just the effect of drinking three shots of espresso in one sitting. 2) You were damn nervous since your prelim grades were already out.
You didn't even feel any butterfly in your stomach, nor did your world light up—and this, to be honest, was understandable, especially when Yoongi's eyes were dead as fuck. You figured that if it wasn't for your shared seven am class, he would probably still be lying in bed.
"The professor said you're my partner for this project." Even the first time you heard his voice wasn't special.
If there's one thing that made Yoongi Yoongi, it's his monotonous voice. At first, you thought he just didn't like the idea that you two were stuck together to work on a project. (Again, it's understandable) You also found it ridiculous that your professor actually paired you with a stranger.
Well, it's not like you knew Yoongi. Unless knowing his full name counted. But really, it's inevitable since the two of you went to the same classes since freshman year (you're a senior now) apart from that, almost all your professors never failed to voice out their adoration for him.
You first heard his name when your history instructor made it very clear that Min Yoongi's works would be his "standard" when it came to grading your individual projects. In short, if Yoongi got an A, you and your classmates should also either get an A or an A+ or else, you're considered 'failed.'
It’s kind of fucked up, really. Most of you knew that Min Yoongi was a monster when it came to collecting As. Unfair. All he did during class lectures was sleep and yet, he still managed to be number one.
Huh. It must be awesome to be God's favorite.
There was also this one time when one of your professors, Mr. Bang, cried when he asked Yoongi to read his essay in front. The smart boy was reluctant at first. He despised exposure, that's for sure. However, the professor's so persistent that Yoongi obliged just to make the annoying instructor shut up.
You're actually glad Mr. Bang managed to persuade Yoongi. His speech about finding yourself and being happy made Mr. Bang and almost everyone in your class cry. Yoongi transformed into a completely different person the moment he started his speech. Monotonous Voice? Gone.
You figured that yes, your heart didn't skip a beat when you first caught his eyes, but boy did your heart hurt when those simple words leaving his mouth turned into a piece of art.
<<< Your one brain cell >>>>
The second time you met Yoongi's eyes was in front of his house. The two of you decided to work on your project at the school's library, however the place was loaded with students cramming their paper works and you just couldn't bear to hear another person aggressively typing on their laptop anymore. You were sick of it.
"Uh, hi?" you awkwardly smiled at the blond man in front of you.
You weren't quite sure how to react when he was just staring at you blankly. Yoongi's lips were pursed together and that alone made you uncomfortable.
"We were supposed to meet at the library..." He raised his brow as if he wanted to know how the hell did you know where he lives? And were you a fucking stalker?
"I..." You instantly trailed off when he narrowed his brow more. Man, he sure was intimidating. The lack of spark in his eyes made you wince. The man in front of you had thick, low set brows—making them appear almost completely straight. (Poker face alert)
You swallowed the thick lump in your throat before trying to form a coherent sentence.
"There...people. I mean, the library is packed with uh, people."
"So you just decided to show up in my house?"
His question made you quiver. This was such a wrong move. Of course you couldn’t just knock on his door like this; you two were not even friends!
"I'm sorry. I just didn't know any other place and I..." You heaved a deep sigh. "I saw your friend Jeongguk and he told me where you live—“
"Right." He cut you off by opening the door wide. Of course it had to be Jeongguk. That little shit really knew how to annoy Yoongi.
"Holly peed on the couch so there's no way we can work there. Is my room okay to you?" Despite not seeing his face, you instantly knew that Yoongi's question was directed at you. He was leading the way inside his house and you're behind him, quietly following where he's going.
Yoongi's house was not that big, but it's a lovely and comfortable place. Unlike your dorm, you felt at home here. It's probably the indoor plants that made the place more alive. You suddenly wondered if he's living with someone. Did the love of his life stay here? Or did he have a roommate? You're adamant that he lived alone; otherwise all these plants would probably be dead.
You weren't really a judgmental person, you're rather logical. Yoongi slept during class hours; he couldn't be bothered by moving a single inch, too. You guessed that he hated any form of activity and maybe, that included watering plants.
You were about to ask him if he lived alone when your voice had been overpowered by loud, boisterous bark.
"Oh! Hello there, little guy..." A giggle escaped from your lips when a small dog went your way to lick your exposed legs.
You squatted in front of the puppy so you could pet his furry head.
"Holly, no!" Yoongi called the attention of the brown poodle, but it couldn't care less. The dog named Holly still continued to ask for your affection.
"Holly!"
You almost whined when Yoongi took Holly away from you. You're sure the puppy hated it too. But Yoongi told you that his pet needed to learn his lesson first. The naughty dog really peed on the couch right after his bathroom training. Yikes!
Yoongi let you inside his room after your little encounter with Holly. The vibe of his room contradicted the overall theme of the house, but you had expected it to be this way nonetheless.
His bedroom walls were painted dark blue, too dark it's almost close to black. There's nothing much in his room except a single bed, a study area with lots of technical devices, and oh!
Amusement danced in your eyes when you noticed different manga books on his shelf. You didn't think that Yoongi was the type of person who would dwell on such things, but what really caught your attention was his album collection.
"You like Epik High!?" you couldn't help your enthusiasm when your eyes found the band's album called Shoebox resting on the black metallic shelf near his bed. Damn. Shoebox was your best-loved album of all time! You liked all songs by Epik High, however nothing could ever top the said album for you. Your ultimate favorite song had to be Amor Fatti. That song slapped, though its meaning was often misunderstood by many.
Yoongi only spared you a few glances from the moment you showed into his house, this time, however, he was looking at you intently and for the first time, you saw him smile, a shy one at that.
"Yeah...they're the reason why I write songs..." He whispered, too soft you barely heard it.
You even blinked. Did you hear him right?
"Oh, you're a songwriter?" You flashed a loop-sided smile that made Yoongi's cheeks red.
"Uh, well...it's just what I like to do during my free time."
You nodded and hummed, your eyes were still busy roaming around his room when an idea popped in your mind.
"So why don't we make use of your talent and write a song for this project?" You caught Yoongi's eyes again, but this time, it didn't look dead, truthfully, his pupils dilated when he heard what you just said.
You instantly defended your suggestion.
"I mean, we don't really have a plan, and now we have. I think you're pretty good at it so it'll make our jobs easier. I can sing, don't worry..."
You hated saying that, though you didn't have a choice. You needed to convince him that producing a song would be such a good idea.
Your professor said you needed to make something, anything that would elicit a reaction from him and your classmates. This was a psychology class and your topic for midterm was all about emotions. Mr. Kim Seokjin, your professor, was tired of doing all the talking, especially because your class was unresponsive, so to save his voice (and brain cells probably) he told the whole class that the remaining meeting for midterm would be about his students showcasing their talents that wold, like what you had said, gain extreme emotions from your classmates. It's actually easy except that you're paired with someone you were not close with. On top of that, the presentation of the project shouldn't exceed ten minutes, and lastly, it should be personal.
You spent days thinking about what you and your partner could do, but your brain cells weren't cooperating since you only had two of it, the first one was sleeping and the other only knew the words "Nothing, bitch."
And so now that your former brain cell decided to wake up and save you from your misery of being stupid (even if it's just for good three minutes) you're willing to take it.
Before your 180 seconds ran out, you immediately started blabbing words to convince Yoongi to produce a song with you.
And guess what? Your convincing power must be really good (or maybe you're just as annoying as Mr. Bang and Yoongi just wanted you to shut up too) but hey, at least Yoongi agreed!
<<< Weirdo >>>
The third time you met Yoongi's eyes—well, it's not really the third time. You had actually lost count on how many times your eyes locked with each other. Sometimes, it's a conscious act, but most of the time, it's not. You guys would just find yourselves staring into each other's eyes when you didn't know what lyrics to write next.
Producing a song was not as easy as what you thought it would be. It had been three weeks since the two of you started this project. Yoongi's room had been your workplace ever since. He had the equipment you needed plus it's easier to meet here since your dorm was just meters away from his house.
"My damn throat hurts like hell!" You groaned before collapsing on top of Yoongi's bed.
The past three weeks you spent with Yoongi made the two of you start a beautiful friendship. Admittedly, it's not really beautiful since most of the time; you're bickering at each other. You and Yoongi were so different from each other. He liked starting his work early because he wanted to finish it early. You, on the other hand, were his exact opposite. You're the play now, work later type of person and Yoongi hated it so much. While he practiced delayed gratification, you sat there and ruined everything.
You were always on his bed, cuddling his pet Holly. That's most likely the reason why it's only been two days since you two finished the song. It took almost three weeks because of your procrastinating ass, and now, you suffered. The two of you only had a week before you performed this in front of your class. Yoongi was pissed off at you for the reason that you still hadn't finished memorizing the lyrics and your voice was already strained.
“If I ever see you drinking cold water again, I will fucking drown your ass on that water as I behead you, and then I will freeze your head." Yoongi warned as he joined you in bed.
"Ohhh, morbid. I like that..." You shrugged your shoulders and then you buried your face on his chest—making him groan in irritation.
"You weirdo, get away from me!"
"No..." You laughed because Yoongi was the weird one here. He told you not to touch him or stay close to him, but at the same time, he's wrapping his arm on your waist.
You wondered if this was okay, it's just been three weeks since the two of you had been formally introduced, and yet, you found comfort here. On his bed. In his arms.
You smiled to yourself, yes, Yoongi was a weirdo, but so were you.
<<< Namjoon’s Party >>>>
What you considered as the fourth time you met Yoongi’s eyes was also the first time he called you by your given name.
“You feel so good…” He moaned your name on your neck, his hands were tightly wrapped around your waist—enjoying your body heat.
You suddenly thought if dragging Yoongi into this party was the best idea. Right now, you had no freaking clue how to act. You’re drunk, but not too drunk to not think about the consequences of this night. But damn, you’re just a human. A horny human! How could you possibly stop Yoongi when he’s using his soft lips to paint bruises on your neck!?
You could just push him away and you knew that, though you were also aware that your mind and heart wouldn’t want that, not when you liked what he’s doing to you.
“Namjoon’s party sucks.”
“Just not your crowd, weirdo...” You chuckled. Oh, thank heavens for Namjoon. He was one of your childhood friends and frankly, the song you and Yoongi produced wouldn’t be finished without the help of Namjoon. So when that friend of yours texted you to come to his birthday party, you immediately agreed. Fortunately, you didn’t have to force your one brain cell to wake up just so you could convince Yoongi to go with you.
This wasn’t what Yoongi likesd he hated parties because he didn’t want to talk to stupid people and drunken people were stupid people. Perhaps the only reason why Yoongi was here was because he couldn’t turn down Namjoon—not after all your friend’s genius advice.
“I hate this place.” Yoongi added, he’s now looking at you with sparks in his eyes—or maybe you’re just drunk. Too intoxicated to feel and see anything other than the fact that Yoongi’s already grinding at you.
You huffed; suddenly offended by the clothes you’re wearing. Were you supposed to wear this when all you wanted was to feel Yoongi’s touch on your bare skin?
“We’re here for Namjoon—”
“God, can’t you take the hint?” Yoongi cut you off by pouting.
You blinked. Did this weirdo just pout? And oh, his lips…his lips were hot….hot against your own mouth.
“Yoongi….” You breathed, your eyes were too hazy to see his gummy smile.
“Let’s get the hell out of this place…”
That night, you once again lost count as to how many times you met his eyes. You also figured out that his eyes looked best the most when he’s down on his knees, facing your hips.
<<< The Performance >>>
You were expecting to meet Yoongi’s eyes as soon as you opened your very own one; however panic and fear consumed your whole being that you immediately ran out of Yoongi’s room. You’re too frightened to let him see you that you hurriedly put your clothes on and left his house.
It’s not like it was going to change the fact that you slept with your classmate in Psychology, however, you were scared. Scared to see his eyes back to being dead when just last night, the moon and the stars were there, staring at you like you’re not just a dust in this universe, but the whole universe.
Besides, you had one logical reason: you needed to pick up your costume for your upcoming performance with Yoongi. Taehyung, your designer friend was only available till nine in the morning, so you literally had to run like a lunatic right after you woke up from your cozy sleep on Yoongi’s bed.
Your outfit was perfect. Damn, Taehyung really had a talent when it came to this. Your confidence level was boosted just by wearing the clothes your great friend designed. You thought you’re finally ready to perform the song you and Yoongi produced for one month.
You were so ready, but your heart was not…
Just…where the hell was Yoongi? It had been two days since you last saw him. You hadn’t heard any news from him since you left his apartment the day after Namjoon’s party. Was he mad at you for leaving? Or did he even care?
You had fifteen minutes left before Mr. Kim Seokjin, your psychology professor, marked your grades zero.
“Fucking Min Yoongi, where the hell are you?” You grimaced when your call was directed on his phone’s voicemail.
You had two options: fake death so you wouldn’t have to perform, or kill Mr. Kim Seokjin. (They wouldn’t probably notice if you stabbed your professor on his side since most of them were busy preparing for their own presentations.)
But just as you’re about to resort to your latter option, Yoongi’s familiar scent immediately attacked your nose. You looked back only for you to cancel killing Mr. Kim Seokjin and just choose your former option.
God, how could it be possible for you to still want to stay alive when Min Yoongi was killing you with his looks? Gone was his light blond hair, but you’re not complaining since his now black curly hair was much much better than the previous one.
“Sorry I’m late. Holly peed on the couch again…” His multiple earrings looked too damn good on him. You’re silly; you’re fucking silly because you worried for nothing. Yoongi was still Yoongi, and the sparks in his eyes were still visible.
“It’s okay, we still have time…” You smiled as if the thought of murdering your professor didn’t just cross your mind. Oh well, nothing else mattered when Yoongi was here, right?
Mr. Kim Seokjin said that you and Yoongi would be the last performers for this day, which meant you still had at least half an hour left to stare at Yoongi like a vampire wanting to drink blood. But time flies fast when you’re busy with something. Thirty minutes ago, you were just ogling at your partner, right now, you were in front of the class, spitting fire with your partner.
The first verse of your produced song was rapped by Yoongi. Scratch that, Agust D was in front of you and not Yoongi. Your partner told you that he preferred to be called Agust D whenever he was performing his rap song.
Robber! Robber!
Sorry bae
Killer! Killer!
Sorry bae
Addiction—diction--diction
Sorry bae
“Oh! The court’s case you got away?”
Your partner smirked before proceeding to the next verse. You, on the other hand, stood there to hype the crowd.
You always get away
I’m sorry bae
You smoke cocaine but get away
Justice won’t be served
I’m sorry bae
Everything, everything, everything
Unfair
You were nervous. The next verse was assigned to you. The plan was that you only had to sing the chorus part, though Yoongi had another idea. He wanted you to go out of your comfort zone and try something new. So here you were, rapping.
You commit the same sin
Sorry bae
Your silence they love it
Sorry bae
I see same pigs on the senate
Boring bae
Your vote they bought and they’re not
Sorry bae
Nothing’s new but rich people’s car are
Brand new
Sorry bae
You can’t be illiterate coz they take advantage
Before you know it, you’re one of the reasons
Why innocents are salvage
Politicians know your name
But after the election they act like they don’t know your name!
You and Yoongi both performed the chorus part. It looked like the crowd was enjoying your presentation because they also started shouting and hyping you up.
They love, they love, they love themselves
They know, they know your sufferings
But they don’t they don’t and will never care
Youth wake up, stand up, we should fight the state! Brr!
The following verse was rapped by Yoongi again. You took your time to feel yourself as you discreetly watched the reaction of the people in front of you. A whole month of stress and worry seemed to pay off. You even locked eyes with Park Jimin, one of your most-respected classmates; he cheered for you and that was enough for you to successfully perform the next verse.
I wanna get job (job, job, job)
But I can’t get on the spotlight
Yeah I wanna have a good life!
But my parent’s wings are cozy
I just wanna hide
It’s okay I have time
My trust fund won’t end
So I can still live
And breathe while I finish this game
Called being “dependent”
All night, all day
All night, all day
Don’t care, don’t care, don’t care!
The next verse was easy to execute since you and Yoongi both rapped it. You were facing each other and suddenly, you forgot that there were eyes watching you. Min Yoongi caressed your cheeks once. You smiled as you sensually rolled your body.
Who plays by the rule?
No one!
Who wants to grab a woman's hair?
Husband!
Yoongi slightly pulled your hair this time. You grimaced, but you still continued rapping.
He has mistress so the wife’s depressed
He forgot about their kids but that’s okay
She can cover up for him like how
She can cover her bruise and play cool
As she says “I love him, anyway.”
You moved away from your partner. Your mood instantly changed as you approached the next verse. This one’s challenging to write. Your heart was breaking as you sang.
The other woman on the street has been pulled
By the stranger claiming she’s wet like a pool
She should be thankful since this will feel like
a dream come true
Lick it lick it right, you can take it, right?
She cried and cried and cried, that should be a sign
But “High five!” he told the other man
As the woman cried, her voice is too loud
So they killed her that night.
You let out your frustration by growling and jumping. Min Yoongi was also lost in his own world as he rapped—raising his middle finger from time to time.
They love, they love, they love themselves
They know, they know your sufferings
But they don’t they don’t and will never care
You’re horny, you fucked up! Go on and hate yourself! Brr!
It’s Yoongi’s own verse again. His mood shifted too. If you weren’t part of this performance, you would probably just stare at him. Goddamn, Min Yoongi had his own way of expressing himself.
Back back to the killings!
Your guns check
Call me when you need a gunman I can kill
Even for a dollar
Hashtag no conscience
I don’t believe in God so hell sounds okay
I’ll be with my gang gang
So hell won’t be boring!
The demon you summon
so money won’t be your worry
Payday, paycheck so I can have that rolex
He pointed the rolex on his wrist. It’s not an authentic one, but that’s not the point. Clearly, he just wanted everyone to see that there were other ways to “look cool.” However, many people still chose to listen and be their own demons.
Click clack to the bang bang
Your time has run out.
Click clack here’s my gun
I’m so high on drugs
I see you as a rat
They can control me with money
So you take these four shots
Your life is like a fruit fly
“I can’t understand. Why is it so easy for them?” This was Min Yoongi’s question to you. He asked this while you two were writing the following verse. He hated a lot of things, though he could forgive and tolerate some of it easily. However, he clearly told you that he could never treat someone right if that person used violence.
Click clack to the bang, you and you
Wait your turn
Shit! You little boy
Come here look at the blood
How? You’re asking me?
I don’t know, you’re a man you should know how
He also told you how much he hated this unfair world. He respected women more than ever, but Yoongi was an advocate of both equality and equity. Why can’t boys cry? Are we robots? These were some of his questions too.
If this is the kind of world we live in
I don't wanna live at all
If I exist for your pleasure
then I refuse to accept this call
You joined Yoongi singing the last verse of the song.
They love, they love, they love themselves
They know, they know your sufferings
But they don’t they don’t and will never care
Yo’ human, are you human? If yes then help us save this place!
By the time you finish the song, everyone’s clapping their hands and cheering for you and your partner. You swore you even saw Mr. Kim Seokjin wrote “100” on your paper.
You smiled. The performance was over, contrarily, the attraction you felt for your partner was only starting.
<<< Kimchi and Other Sauces >>>>
The first time you met Yoongi’s pleading eyes was during dinner time. After your performance in Mr. Kim Seokjin’s class, your partner said that the two of you should celebrate this success. Of course you immediately agreed, but that did not mean you were willing to spend money.
“I swear to God, Yoongi…if you ever bring me to a fine-dining restaurant, I will fucking kill you.”
You were not joking. You had student loans to pay so you couldn’t afford to spend a hundred dollar for a fucking spaghetti and sparkling water.
“Chill, you weirdo. We can just—” He stopped mid-sentence because a brilliant idea just popped into his mind.
“What? You’re not planning a yacht dinner date, are you!?” You started freaking out and the uneasiness you felt only intensified when Yoongi smirked.
“Actually, I was planning to…you know…maybe…make you eat my cum.” He simply shrugged his shoulders.
He said it so casually that you just stared at him. Was he serious or were you supposed to be laughing now? You could feel your blood rushing. You were so confused. Excited. Worried.
After what it felt like forever, the staring contest with Yoongi finally ended. He offered his hands and of course, you immediately took it. The both of you rushed toward his big, black motorbike. Yoongi only brought one helmet so he told you to just wear it. The ride to his house wasn’t that far, anyway.
The both of you were in a hurry. Countless profanities were thrown at him for driving hastily; Yoongi even parked his motorbike in a reckless way. Still, you two couldn’t care less, especially Yoongi. How could he? Huh, definitely not after you stroked his cock while driving. That’s really not a smart move, at least not when Yoongi’s mother welcomed the both of you just as Yoongi opened his apartment’s door.
“Eomma! What are you doing here?!” Clearly, your partner wasn’t expecting to see his own mother. It’s pretty obvious since Yoongi’s jaw dropped and his neck was slowly turning red.
“You brat! Why wouldn’t I be here? This is my house!” You knew you weren’t supposed to laugh, however it’s hard to control yourself when Yoongi’s being hit by his own mother while he was trying to cover the bulge on his pants.
“Eommoni! Please! I have a guest!” Yoongi got away from his own mother by hiding himself behind your small frame.
“What—oh!” His mother’s eyes widened when she saw you. She seemed surprised to see Yoongi bring someone. Of course, Yoongi had never brought his friends home. Not even once. At this point, his mother was actually convinced that her son was allergic to human beings.
“I didn’t know that Yoongi is friends with someone as charming as you…” The frightening aura of his mother was completely gone. The older woman engulfed you into a tight, warm hug as she asked your name. You answered her with a smile on your lips.
Yoongi’s mom led you in the kitchen. Actually, you tagged along with her. She wanted to prepare a meal for you and her son, but of course, you couldn’t just sit still and look pretty. As a sign of respect, you needed to help her. Besides, you loved kitchen works, though you’re pretty sure cooking hated every fiber of your being.
The older woman just asked you to set up the table because according to her, she was always in charge of cooking. She also told you to be prepared because you’d surely forget your name once you tasted her award-winning Sam Gae Tang or that chicken soup with ginseng. Hoseok, one of your best friends, made the best chicken soup so your standard was kind of high. For you, nothing could beat Hoseok, but we’ll just have to see.
“Please be kind to my mother…”
Yoongi’s voice and eyes were pleading as he sat beside you. The food was already prepared and the two of you were ready to eat. You were just waiting for Yoongi’s mom to finish washing her hands.
You just raised your brows at the man beside you, clearly not understanding why he’s pleading because really, you knew how to respect elders.
Yoongi sighed.
“My mom is a terrible cook. Her soup tastes like shit, man…” Yoongi shook his head like a traumatized kid. He even bit his lower lip.
You’re about to say something, but you heard his mother’s footsteps, meaning, if you spoke, she might hear you, and so you just kept your mouth shut. You’re expecting Yoongi to do the same, though he just leaned on your shoulders—his eyes were still begging.
“Please, baby? Just put a lot of kimchi and other sauces on your soup to get rid of the awful taste. Can you do that for me?”
You simply nodded. That night, you realized that Yoongi was willing to do everything just to make someone he loved happy. Days, weeks, months, and years passed and you still admired how every time you had dinner with him and his mother, Yoongi would urge you to put kimchi and other sauces on your chicken soup.
At this point, you were convinced you loved Min Yoongi. You had always loved cooking, hell, you were willing to lose your bachelor’s degree if that meant you would be good at cooking, because…
You, just like Yoongi’s mom, were a terrible cook. But Yoongi never complained nor did he ever put kimchi and other sauces on the food you cooked just for him.
<<< Silver Dust>>>>
The first time you asked Yoongi why he liked looking into your eyes was when the both of you were having a staring contest.
The wind was unbelievably cold tonight, clearly, you weren’t expecting to freeze in the middle of a summer night. The annoying weather led you into thinking if climbing on top of your boyfriend’s house’s roof was a good idea. Sure the stars were pretty, but you felt cold. Too cold.
“Do you know the story about the Window and the Mirror?” Yoongi asked out of the blue. He also pulled your body closer to him—making you grimace. The texture of the roof was hard on your back. You shook your head, why did you choose to lay on the roof without any blanket again? Sometimes, your choices in life were really questionable.
“Nah, what happened?” You’re never a fan of stories.
Yoongi sighed. He pulled you closer to him until your face was buried on his neck. Damn. He smelled like smoke and sex.
“Well, for starters, my father left us…”
Yoongi’s words monetarily made you stop breathing. You had known him for years now, but not once did you ever talk about his father. You were aware that his father left him and his mom, though you didn’t know the story behind it.
“My father was a good man and he always tells me he loves my mother more than ever. For the longest time of my life, I believed him. He never looked into anyone’s wife. He never had a mistress, but my father is selfish.”
You just hummed to let him know that you were listening.
He cleared his throat.
“Mom just wants a simple life and that’s why we never left Daegu. This is my home. Our home.” Yoongi’s grip on your shoulder tightened, he looked up in the sky—the stars were prettier when you were in Daegu.
“My father doesn’t like to be here, though. He loves the city. He craves city life. Ever since I was young, he kept telling my mom that they should move to Seoul. Abeonim hates farming. He calls our strawberry farm disgusting. Said he should become a CEO and not a stupid farmer.” Yoongi laughed bitterly. He could still remember the way his father said those words.
“And guess what? He fucking did. Min Hyun Sik, chief executive officer of Bighit Company…” Yoongi cackled and you gasped.
Min Hyun Sik was his father? That guy was like the richest man in South Korea! You wanted to confirm this news that he just dropped, however, you couldn’t move because Yoongi’s grip on your shoulders was so tight.
“He became someone with power by leaving my mother and I.” Yoongi repeated as his eyes darkened. He no longer found the stars pretty. For him they were just lights—shining to hurt his eyes.
“He just left a note like that was going to be enough. He didn’t even say sorry. The only words written on those notes are him telling me to go to University using the money he left.”
You bit your lower lip. His grip was really, really tight…
“He wants me to go to college so I can follow him in the city, and so I went to college. But it’s not because I want to follow him. I enrolled just so I can fucking drop out during my last year.”
You furrowed your brow. If that was Yoongi’s original plan, then how…how come he’s a college graduate now?
“That was the plan before I met you…” Yoongi’s grip on your shoulder loosens, giving you the opportunity to look into his eyes.
He smiled at you.
“So, the story of the Window and the Mirror?” He offered and you just nodded.
“There’s this rich man—”
“Richer than your dad?” You asked. He laughed.
“Fucking richer than my dad…” He left a chaste kiss on your mouth. You giggled. “Anyway, the man went to see a rabbi, some sort of Jewish teacher. Of course the rabbi asked him what he wanted and the rich man said he doesn’t know what to do with his life anymore.”
“Uh, duh? He should give us money!” You butted in again. Yoongi kissed you once more just to make you shut up.
“Unfortunately, the teacher didn’t tell the rich man to give you money, weirdo. The Rabbi just led him over to the window and asked him this.” Yoongi cleared his throat. “What can you see through the glass?”
“And what’s the response of the rich man, Mr. Min?”
“I can see men coming and going and a blind man begging for alms in the street.” Yoongi answered you. “The rabbi seemed content with his answers, so this time, the teacher led him into a large mirror to ask him another question...”
“What is the other question?” You pressed.
“The rabbi asked him this, baby…” Yoongi pressed his lips on your mouth before proceeding to the story. “When you look in this mirror, can you tell me what you see?”
“And?!” You pressed again.
“I can see myself…”
“Obviously.” You rolled your eyes. You just wanted to know the sense of this story.
“And you can’t see the others. Notice that the window and the mirror are both made of the same basic material, glass. You should compare yourself to these two kinds of glass. Poor, you saw other people and felt compassion for them. Rich — covered in silver — you see yourself.”
“Oh,” was all you could say.
Your boyfriend smiled at you.
“My father chose to look in the mirror and I almost did the same. I almost dropped out of college just because I want my father to see that having a degree is useless. But, baby, if I actually chose to drop out, I wouldn’t have met you. I wouldn’t be able to give my mother a better life. I wouldn’t be able to afford to hire a cook and who knows? If I drop out of college, I would probably still be eating my mom’s shitty chicken soup.” You laughed at that.
“I am just saying, I like to look into your eyes because it reminds me of a window. It made me see a lot of things—new opportunities. Because of you, I stopped being selfish. You removed the silver in the mirror; you turned the silver into dust.”
“I fucking love you!” This time, you initiated the kiss.
You kissed Min Yoongi so hard that when you pulled away, he’s desperately gasping for air.
“I fucking love you too.”
<<< The Proposal >>>>
After reminiscing some of your unforgettable moments with Min Yoongi, you finally looked into his eyes.
Yoongi proposed to you and you’re contemplating whether to say yes or no. Your boyfriend despised the crowd, but here he was, down on his knees—shakily holding a ring on his hand.
You examined his face. His lips were quivering, for the first time; you saw how vulnerable he looked. It’s as if his whole life depended on this, and to be honest, it did. Yoongi couldn’t imagine life without you.
“Baby, are you gonna say yes or no?” Yoongi knitted his brows together.
You chuckled. Typical, Yoongi.
“Please stand up…”
Your boyfriend looked at you with confused eyes. His heart started beating so fast he’s very sure it would explode.
“B-But why? Don’t you want to—“ He stammered.
“Just stand up, Yoongi.”
With a heavy heart, Yoongi followed what you wanted. Deep inside, Yoongi was already murdering his friend, Jeon Jeongguk. He just told Yoongi that proposing in a strange, busy city would win your heart.
You two were currently in New York, New York. Strangers were watching you, and Brooklyn Bridge served as your backdrop. Jeongguk said that if Yoongi proposed in a place where no one knew you, then it was a sure win because your mother wouldn’t be able to stop Yoongi. Your childhood crush or ex wouldn't be in the picture too so it was another win for Yoongi. But your boyfriend was starting to regret his decision. He shouldn’t have listened to Jeongguk. What did that dipshit even know about love?
“Yoongi, are you listening?”
“Huh?” Your boyfriend’s train of thoughts were suddenly halted when you spoke.
“I can’t believe you. I just said yes!” You shake Yoongi’s shoulder. It looked like he was still out of his mind and that made you anxious. What if…what if he decided you’re not worth it anymore? What if he didn’t want to marry you anymore?
“Baby, I can’t believe you too. Please give me your hands!” Yoongi exclaimed.
“Oh!” You exclaimed as well. What the hell! You were so apprehensive that you zoned out too!
“We’re both weirdos, do you know that?” Yoongi shook his head after putting the sparkling ring on your finger.
You laughed.
“Oh, just shut up and kiss me.”
“Gladly.”

Reader Viewer Gamer Spy
Ok, maybe not that last one, but anyway...
If you've hung around this blog long enough, you've likely noticed that I tend to talk about "stories" more often than books, and that I use games, manga, and movies as well as written works to discuss writing concepts. This is because I think all those stories, in whatever medium, have something interesting to say, or something worth examining. Yet there exists no decent word for a person such as myself, a lover of stories, if you will.
Labels and Categories
I'm not one to say "I don't like labels", but I do find them lacking sometimes, usually because there aren't enough of them, or they're not broad enough
For example, I'm obviously a nerd and a geek, in that I like nerdy, geeky things. I enjoy learning and research and school, which I would put under the "nerd" category, and I like superheroes and fantasy/sci-fi and comics, which are decidedly "geek". But these don't include my love of books—not all nerds are bookworms—nor my obsessive devotion to anime and manga in particular. I guess “weeb” might be a subsection of geek? I don’t know. Whatever the case, neither nerd nor geek are satisfactory to my quest for the perfect word to describe myself.
And what would you call someone who loves movies as much as a bookworm loves books? A filmworm? (Can we please just make this a thing?). There are terms like “film enthusiast” and “cinephile”, but I think these imply a knowledge of movie-making or a love of niche and cult films that I don’t necessarily have. At the same time, though, I’m not just a casual movie-goer. I really like movies, and thinking about movies, and talking about movies. Why isn’t there a word for that?
Stereotypes from Without
Perhaps the reason there isn’t a word specifically for someone who’s into movies or comics the way there is for those who love books is due to stereotyping. There are people who look down on us movie-watching, game-playing plebeians, so people have been trained to think that liking comics is dorky, or that liking movies is for filthy casuals.
Geeks, I think, have been fighting against this, reclaiming the word for themselves, so to speak. They’ve done a fairly good job at making geekery mainstream, and yet large numbers of people still aren't onboard. For example, the writers of The Big Bang Theory have long labored under the impression that liking Star Wars is a geeky, niche interest. Star Wars! Was that ever niche, even when it came out in the 70s? Even if it was then, it certainly isn’t now. Yet this stupid idea that Star Wars was only for geeks, specifically geek men, is how we ended up with the debacle that is Disney’s new trilogy aimed at a “larger” audience—by which they meant all seven people in the world who didn’t already like Star Wars.
A subsection of geeks fighting the good fight for more recognition is the gamers, and yet this group is not without its stereotypes. Sometimes, this is through innocent ignorance: my sister and I were geeking out over the plot of Okami in the break room of a Catholic school were she worked and one of the nuns asked, tentatively, “Video games have stories?”. She seemed happy to learn that they do, but this illustrates the point that not every non-gamer knows what video games have to offer, so of course they might not consider games in the same category as books or films.
Then there are worse stereotypes. A coworker of mine pooh-poohed video games because, amongst other things, they “don’t promote social interaction”. My coworker, remember, is a librarian... in a library... full of books. When you read a book, that’s six or more hours of being by yourself, reading. You might choose to go to a bookclub or talk to a friend about it, but that is hardly part of the reading experience. Games, on the other hand, often have two-player or online mode. My younger brother is constantly playing games and constantly talking to his friends over Discord while doing so. One time, he was playing a single player game while his friend from out of state was playing the same single player game, and they were talking to each other about it over headphones. Obviously, this isn’t true for all games and gamers (I myself like single-player, offline games), but to act as if games are socially isolating in comparison to books is just inaccurate.
Stereotypes from Within
Speaking of books, the label with the most baggage, in my opinion, is bookworm. It’s not non-bookworms who are the ones responsible for this stereotyping, but the book lovers themselves.
What stereotypes am I talking about? For starters, the stereotype that in order to be a bookworm, you should sneer at other types of media. “The book was better” is something often lobbed at movies. I usually agree with that; the movies of Harry Potter, Something Wicked this Way Comes, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Phantom of the Opera, Public Enemies, and every iteration of Sherlock Holmes pale in comparison to their source material. But some movies are just as good as the book they are based on. This may be because the movie captures the essence of the book, like The Princess Bride, Anne of Green Gables,  or Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (the 1951 version), or it may be due to the movie deviating from the book but still being equally enjoyable, as is the case with The Secret of NIMH / Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and most of Disney's fairytale adaptations. And some movies—and I know my bookworm card might get revoked for saying this—are better than the books, including The Great Mouse Detective, Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Last Unicorn, and And Then There Were None.
“Heresy!” cry the bookworms, but why? Aren’t people allowed to like and dislike whatever stories they want? And that’s stereotype number two, which is never encountering a book you don’t like. I usually find this with English majors, some librarians and library patrons, and bookstagramers who take pretty pictures of objectively bad books (I know I just said people can like what they want, but let’s be honest, nobody liked The Casual Vacancy, probably not even J.K. Rowling). It’s almost like, to be a bookworm, you can’t have a taste for certain books and not others. Or rather, you can’t act as if some books are just, you know, not good. Such bookworms fret about libraries weeding books from their collections, but as someone who used to do that as a volunteer, I can tell you, some books are bad. They might be badly written, or boring, or cringey, or whatever (and that’s why they don’t circulate for years on end, and that’s why they get weeded). The point is, it’s okay to not like certain books, and doing so should not make one any less of a bookworm.
The stereotypes go on and on, and I can’t relate to any of them. “Books are better than clothes”; but I really like fashion. “I can’t resist buying new books when I’m in a bookstore”; it’s nice that you have all that disposable income, but I’ll settle for borrowing books and scouring the free shelf. “I remember staying up late at night as a child with a flashlight under my covers”; I wasn’t a big reader as a kid, but that didn’t make me less into stories. And, of course, “I’d rather be reading,” not daydreaming, or watching movies, or getting lost in the world of a game, because you can apparently only get lost in a book.
I know I sound bitter, and that’s because I am. I love books, but books are not the height of human storytelling, nor its primordial form. Poems, songs, and plays all predated writing, and as for novels, those didn't come about until the 11th century in Asia and the 1400s in Europe. Sure, movies and video games are a lot younger, but that doesn't make them any less valuable, unless you believe that books are less valuable than plays and poems.
Let me say it again, in case my non-bookwormish statements have made any of you doubt: I love books. But I also love games. And movies. And comics. Basically, I love stories. I’m a story enthusiast. Why isn’t there a word for that? Daydreamer? Fantast? Storyworm?
I suppose the word isn’t as important as the concept I’m trying to explain. Books and movies and games and plays are all amazing, each in different ways. So why do we have to denigrate some forms of storytelling or act like some are better than others? I can see personally preferring one type of media to another, but if you totally eschew one of them because of some silly stereotype, I think you’ll miss out on a lot of amazing stories.
Thus, in the next few weeks, I’m going to try to convince you, dear reader, or viewer, or gamer, (or spy?) that each of the four main storytelling media—books, plays and television, comics, and video games—each have something unique to offer, and are worthy of a place in the hearts and minds of all story-loving people. Stay tuned!

It begins
So, I used to read a lot.  Like, A LOT.  I averaged maybe seven to nine books a week at one point.  As I’ve gotten older and busier that number has gradually dropped, and my last job about murdered me in every sense, including the book reading one.  Now, I do still read, but the books get read slower than they come in, which leaves me with a hell of a backlog.  So in order to get back on track and work on that to read shelf (a recent photo of which is the header for this blog), I’m going to do one of those stupid reading challenges in 2019.  The goal?  An average of a book a week, or 52 books.  In order to help keep myself on task I’ll be reviewing each book here (anything relevant will get reblogged to my main @helvetica12point). Also, because I know my reading habits, I’m going to set up some ground rules.  Some will seem odd and may seem slightly cheaty, but keep in mind that I’m trying to get the to read shelf down to something a bit more manageable in addition to reading more again.
So here are my rules for myself:
Only incoming books to be added to the collection are allowed.  No rereads of favorites currently in the collection count. Borrowed books also do not count. That said, books that have previously been read but not owned are fair game.
Future incoming books as well as books currently on the to read shelf are all fair game. I have disposable income and there’s no way I’m not buying books for a year, are you insane?
ebooks do not count.  They take up no physical space and will not help with the clearing the pile goal.
books written for the 10 and under crowd do not count.  Young adult books do.
graphic novels and manga will be counted at a reduced value, except omnibus editions. These values are as follows: 4 graphic novels=1 book, 3 volumes of manga=1 book.  Omnibus editions such as Marvel Essentials or DC Showcase will count as one full book.
As long as it follows the above rules, size doesn’t matter.  A 60 page book and a 600 page book both have the same value.  Don’t worry, I won’t be cheating and reading nothing but skinny things.  The current to read shelf probably averages 200-300 pgs per book.  While I don’t think I”ll get through War and Peace, I do plan on Roots, so let me have some quick stuff to balance it.
as long as it follows the above rules, content doesn’t matter.  I have diverse interests.  Ya’ll are going to get some widely varied reviews.  It might be fiction, it might be non fiction, it might be fiction masquerading as nonfiction.  Some of it is almost certainly going to be embarrassing to admit I read it.
A book must be completed in 2019 to count.  This may seem like cheating, but I’ve got some stuff lying around half finished for months and even years.  Obviously if there’s just a couple pages left it doesn’t count, but otherwise, yeah, it counts.  Keep in mind, this will apply at the end of the year too, so anything I start but don’t finish in December 2019 won’t count.
52 is a minimum.  I know I can do better.  tbh, I’d really like to plan for twice that.  104 sounds nice, right? Let’s make that a stretch goal.  Ideally, I want to be able to keep a third of the to read shelf empty consistently. So like, when I hit 52 we’re not stopping. The sky is the limit.  I’ve honestly never kept track of how many books I read before.
It must be reviewed to count as an accountability measure.  Doesn’t have to be a long review.  It can be just a couple sentences. But there’s gotta be a post.
Books that don’t count towards the goal may still be read and reviewed if desired, but I’ll mark that they don’t count in the tags or something.  Like, I’ve got this awesome picture book I kickstartered that’ll be in and I know ya’ll will want to see it.
So yeah, that’s the plan.  If you want to play along, feel free to use or alter these rules for yourself as you see fit (some people may have better libraries than I do.  See you soon!

DISCLAIMER: All prices I quote from here are in GBP (Great British Pounds). Please use a converter such as Google if you want to find the equivalent in your currency! This is all my manga, not including October's haul. There's exactly 600 volumes here, plus the extras for the haul (I'm not saying how much)! I'll tell you this: I'm in need of another shelf. I watched a couple of anime when I was younger, Cardcaptor Sakura & Digimon, but I didn't know of manga counterparts. Dragon Ball Z wasn't really a thing in my life, in case you're wondering. I saw my first copies of manga at my then library in 2013 & got 2: .hack//Legend of the Twilight & The Saga of Darren Shan. They were good, but I couldn't borrow more of either, so it didn't really cross my mind afterwards. After tensions with my mum & her then fiancé were high one day, I escaped to a bookshop called Waterstones. They had a shelf full of manga! Back then, I was on a tight budget, so I didn't spend much. I got 2 omnibuses with a total of 5 volumes: Bleach Vol. 1-3 & Death Note (Black Edition) Vol. 1-2 for £19.98. Little did I know, this would be the start of my obsession. A year since I started collecting, I finished my first series: Death Note. To be fair, it's only 12 volumes long. It was perfect for me as black is my favourite colour. I loved almost everything about it, & I got the light novels & encyclopedia at a bookshop I did a work experience stint that finished just before Christmas in 2013. I had titles like One Piece (my favourite of the "Big 3"), Strawberry Marshmallow, & Yu-Gi-Oh! in my collection. I had about 50 volumes, 2 light novels, & 4 sneak peek compilations (which are no longer in my collection as I sold them). I couldn't get much due to a tight budget, as the majority of my money was my upkeep for living at home with my mother. That changed in the beginning of 2017 as I got a job! I get a bit more money, as well as from certain disability benefits available here, so I'm able to get more manga & have a fair collection! It's now one of my favourite hobbies when I've got a bit of downtime! A bit of my collection are secondhand, but they're decent! My best bargain is Lone Wolf & Cub (pic 2). I got 18 volumes (7-8, 12-16, & 18-28) for about £0.11 each! I got the last 10 on Amazon, with just one setback which was resolved a week later. It's also my oldest manga, as it was first published back in September 1970! Some of these are gifts from friends & 2 of my ex-boyfriends too! My way of organizing my manga is unique, or so I think as I've never seen anyone do the same. It's tall manga alphabetically by publisher, then title, then the same for the smaller, standard sized ones. All my manga are from 12 publishers: Dark Horse, Digital Manga Publishing, HarperCollins, Juné, Kodansha, Last Gasp, SelfMadeHero, Seven Seas, Tokyopop, Vertical, Viz Media, & Yen Press. I can't think of anything else to say, except stats of my collection, which will include this month's haul. My favourite manga is Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura. My least favourite is The Magic Touch by Izumi Tsubaki. My favourite mangaka is Junji Ito. My favourite art in a manga is Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue. I've got a total of 140 series, 35 of which are complete (including one-shots). I consider my rarest titles to be all but 1 of my Tokyopop titles. My most expensive manga is Death Note: All-in-One Edition (£40).

[Image description: A photograph of Part 8, Volume 7 of the Japanese Detective Conan DVDs. The cover features a smiling Conan Edogawa wearing Kid the Phantom Thief’s iconic white suit, cape, top hat, and monocle, with a red bow tie in place of the long red tie, against a pink background. At the bottom, text reads, “Shonen Sunday TV Animation Series” in all capital letters. Four small screenshots from the included episode, 219, are depicted beneath the words. End image description.]
It’s not something I would think most people are interested in doing, but, okay, I got a copy of Part 8, Volume 7 of the Japanese Detective Conan DVDs in the mail last week—and more Conan DVDs, too, like about a dozen other volumes I was missing—and if I have any advice for somebody looking to legally fill in the gap between FUNimation’s English-language DVDs (up to Episode 123) and Crunchyroll’s simulcast of the show in Canada and the United States (starting from Episode 754), it would be this: just buy complete season sets and do not purchase separately.
That is, so long as you’re not aiming to be a collector and simply want to have access to the episodes without spending hundreds of thousands of yen. As of this writing, you could probably use Tenso or another Japanese proxy service to buy a shiny new copy of every last volume straight from the shop linked on YTV’s page for the anime, but this is not cheap. Selling for 4,620 yen each, you’d to have shell out at least 776,160 yen to get a hold of the 168 DVDs containing Episodes 124-753—and that’s without factoring in shipping, service fees, and other costs!
If that’s as unfeasible for you as it is for me, you may, as I did, consider buying only used rental volumes containing the most crucial episodes, as outlined in XerBlade’s well-known list, because even if you’re not spending 4,620 yen a pop, 168 DVDs is still a lot of DVDs. Rental copies often sell for 100 to 400 yen apiece, and while they are missing the postcard version of the cover art, have plainer discs, and lack the keyhole jacket design seen on the regular volumes, they’ve got the episodes, and that’s what you’re really after, anyway. So, sure, rental drops may be worn and affixed with obsolete stickers, but they’re inexpensive, the actual disc content appears to be identical to non-rental copies, and it seems economical to pick ‘em up one by one. You only want a select number, after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image descriptions: Two photographs comparing Part 10, Volume 4 and Part 14, Volume 1 of the Japanese Detective Conan DVDs. The top photo compares the cover art; while Part 10, Volume 4, my only non-rental Conan volume, includes a two-color background with a blue keyhole design surrounded by white, Part 14, Volume 1, a rental copy, has a single-color background, a solid green-blue color, with no keyhole design. The bottom photo compares the disc designs between the two; while Part 10, Volume 4′s disc includes a two-toned sketch of a zoomed-in portion of the cover art, Part 14, Volume 1′s disc, as well as other Part 14 discs that I’ve included in the same DVD case, are all solid colors with no sketch of the cover art. Further, Part 10, Volume 4 also includes a postcard version of the cover art, which is tucked into the left side of the DVD case. End image descriptions.]
But then you might realize that you’re missing a lot of good episodes by buying only super plot-relevant cases, and so you decide, well, actually, I want to get all the manga-canon stories. And you look at the contents of each volume, and you do the math, and you see that you’ll need 152 DVDs to accomplish that goal, and by then, you’re like, well, I’m so close, I might as well go all the way and get the full 168.
Except... if you’re anything like me, you’ve kinda already made some bad decisions in your collecting. And Part 8, Volume 7, containing Episode 219 and a Conan-cosplaying-Kid-the-Phantom-Thief cover, is a great example. Because, yes, most rental copies will sell for about 100 to 400 yen each. But then there are volumes that contain well-loved episodes—Part 5, Volume 8 (129), Part 14, Volume 10 (425), and, of course, Part 8, Volume 7 (219), for a few examples—and suddenly, you’re not finding those ridiculously low prices. You’re seeing 1,500, 1,700, 1,980 yen.
You know, almost the same prices—if not more!—than a whole season set.
Tumblr media
[Image description: A screenshot comparing the lowest prices I could currently find on From Japan for Part 8, Volume 7 of the Japanese Detective Conan DVDs and a bundle containing all 7 volumes of Part 8. The lowest-price Part 8, Volume 7 has a “Buy It Now” price of 1,980 yen, the equivalent of around 18.74 USD. The lowest-price full-season set has a price of 1,800 yen, the equivalent of around 17.03 USD. End image description.]
Sometimes, those cherished episodes are rereleased in different collections, and those sell closer to the super low prices of other volumes. For example, I purchased DVD Selection 4, focused on Ai Haibara and containing Episodes 129 and 178, instead of Part 5, Volume 8, for a lower price. But then there are episodes like 219 that weren’t, to my knowledge, rereleased elsewhere. To complete the collection, you really only then have two choices: either spend way more on a single volume, or get a whole season set and wind up with duplicates.
Well, for Part 8, Volume 7, I spent way more. I got duplicates for Part 16, though.
Anyway, long story short: even if you do want to just get crucial-episode volumes only, I’d still probably suggest purchasing whole season sets if you’d like to save money. (And hey, then you’ll also have those other episodes if you’d like to give them a watch sometime!) Rental drops for entire parts sell for around 2,000 to 5,000 yen each, and while service fees will of course depend on the service, I believe that every one I’ve ever tried—Buyee, From Japan, and Tenso—would count the bundle as a single item that would be attached to only a single service fee. Further, you won’t have to pay multiple domestic shipping costs for each volume in the season, either! (And believe me, those can add up fast.)
But all that said, mistakes were made in my DetCo DVD saga, absolutely, but I’ve rearranged my shelves and filled in some gaps since I last posted on the subject, and I’m pleased with what I have! And maybe it’s an odd thing to say, but it’s been fun seeing the differing qualities of my purchases—how you can look at my shelf and see the tears in the copies with more life experience, and the wrinkles, and the old remnants of stickers that are no longer there, while right beside them, there are those that appear so pristine that I have to seriously wonder if they were ever truly rented out at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image descriptions: Photographs of my DVD/Blu-ray shelves. On display are 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-1, 9-2, 9-3, 10-4, 10-5, 11-1, 11-2, 12-3, 12-4, 13-5, 14-1, 14-2, 15-3, 16-4, 16-5, 17-1, 17-2, 18-3, 19-4, 19-5, 20-6, 20-7, 21-8, and 22-9 of the Japanese Detective Conan DVDs, among other DVDs and Blu-rays, such as a few of the Conan films and specials, Ghost in the Shell, and Kiki’s Delivery Service. End image descriptions.]
I guess I’ve always been a terrible collector, and I don’t have the space to properly display everything, but I love how colorful these DVDs are, and I even find something charming in how they vary in appearance, too.
Still, I could have been a lot smarter with my money, and while I wouldn’t really expect a lot of folks to go to these lengths, if you do, and if you’re looking to save some cash, don’t make the same mistakes I did! Just buy whole season sets! You can even place the 168 DVDs perfectly into 28 6-DVD cases if you do!

Beyond Light and Darkness, A Kathbute Anthology (Part 2)
Let me begin 2018 with an awesome review of our awesome book! I’m very proud of this – I was part of the new writer judging, the editing, and I wrote the preface! – and if you want to know this book’s journey from conception to publishing I wrote a lengthy blog on that last year.
In this second part of the #BLaD blog posts, I’ll be reviewing it as a reader and I’ll try to review it as objectively as I can. ;) Here’s what I think of the 11 stories by the Kathbute Authors, because while a general review of the book is appreciated, it always feels great for anthology authors to read about their works individually.
Tumblr media
I. Love Bits
1. The Watch Repairman’s Son – H. Bentham Prompts: A broken wristwatch, peppermints, and a hug that goes too far.
LOL at reviewing this objectively! XD This is my work and for me it’s the best! Hahaha!
Anyway, a trivia about this story: This is actually my first Sancho de Guerra story. I finished writing this almost a full year before “Guide for A Day” appeared in Summer Feels but this took a while to see the light of day. The town I envisioned here is a wee bit different from the one I imagined for the later story, but you wouldn’t really notice. All the bits that got published can go together, and as of this writing, I declare it as canon. ;)
2. Can I Stay? – Nigel Libranages Prompts: Tarot Cards, the coming winter, a pair of old leather boots
This is more of a romantic fiction than romance but the feels, especially the melancholy, is on point. The tone seems levelheaded, but there’s something subtle in how it’s presented that tugs at the heartstrings just right. I must commend both the clever interpretation of the given prompts and the vivid visualization of the settings. Sandra’s characterization is also well fleshed out, justifying her decisions through the end of this short story.
Tumblr media
II. Spell Crafts
3. Potion Lunacy – Irina Jean Prompts: The first day of school, a love note, a recipe with a significant mistake
The YA Fantasy theme in this one is cute and reminds me so much of quirky 2000’s anime. Feisty Portia is stubborn but also a bit insecure and her love interest, Gelen, is just the right amount of clumsy and torpe to be endearing. The fun and fast-paced banter depicts the youthfulness of the characters accurately. And the magic parts, though light, are solid and well thought of.
4. Etienne and Amelie – Johanna Lee Prompts: A supporting fairytale character, a lake, pretenses
This retelling of your favorite fairytales retains the fantastical magic of our childhood reads. I’m not going to say which tales get beautifully mashed-up because I think the figuring out is part of the story’s charm. The visualization and choice of words are commendable, as well as the surprising twist at the very end. You have to read this carefully. Blink, and you’ll miss it.
5. Man in Between – Trix Luna Prompts: old train, jewels, an inconvenient truth
This story wasn’t in the original manuscript I got to read in the editing phase so reading it for the first time in the book is quite an experience. It is told in the second person POV, something I rarely get to read and the spec fic theme is also somewhat fresh to me. I don’t know how best to describe it without spoilers except that I thought it felt transcendental. The choice of words really got to me and it was…unsettling, in the way good fiction affects readers even after the story ends.

III. Distortions
6. The Time Banker – Raine Rillera Prompts: A name, a prison cell, music
The sci-fi/spec fic concept for this one has been wonderfully executed, and the interpretation of the prompts, though subtle and downplayed, were key elements in the advancement plot. This is one of the stories chosen after our writing contest and I remembered that even the rough draft of this one was solid so the edited version in the print made for an awesome reread.
7. The Trial of the Tainted – Trix Luna Prompts: A heroic villain, an old parchment, an unforgivable sin
Space and time-travelling were the themes of this interesting short story. I loved the world-building in this one and the twist and turns it took to get to that ‘heroic villain’ bit. There is also an underlying subtheme of a familiar story that everyone knows by now so the marriage of sci-fi elements to that story kind of updated the mysterious plot.
8. Word Wisp – AlaraChan IDA Prompts: aerobics, a secret diary, something unpleasant under the bed
With prompts like those, familiar stories immediately come to mind about monsters and inner demons, yada, yada…but this interpretation of the boogeyman trope is fresh and brilliant. The monster here isn’t a thing, more of a concept, and it doesn’t kill, but rather consumes something everyone often takes for granted. I especially loved the world apocalypse scenes and the people’s reactions to it in this story’s universe.

IV. Penumbra
9. Allegro – RK Sanchez Prompts: A name, a prison cell, music
Our cover artist also contributed a story here, and it is one on the darker themes. This time the mystery is more psychological and less fantastical but is just as interesting as all the other stories.  The author takes a different turn with the interpretation of the prompts and offers a sweet twist toward the end.
10. Thirty-Seven – Yelle Felicenny Prompts: A stolen ring, fear of spiders, a sinister stranger
This was one of my anticipated reads in this book because I only got to read the first part during the editing phase. There’s a bit of action, adventure and mystery here but what really got me was the dark turn of events at about the final quarter of the story.
11. Darker Than Night- AlaraChan IDA Prompts: a campfire, a scream, a small lie that gets bigger and bigger
This is uniquely written in epistolary style/journal entries, and is a dark but captivating read. I don’t read a lot of horror stories (everyone knows I’m a coward, lol) but I couldn’t put this down! I wanted to know what happens to the aswang and the military party that’s pursuing it!
5 of 5 Stars. Because I’m super proud of our work, and it is an honor to have worked on this with awesome writers and awesome people!
Blurb: The 11 stories in this anthology showcase the interpretations of the Kathbute writers to the theme of light and darkness in the genres of Romance, Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Mystery.

Tagged by anhamirak (who tumblr won’t let me tag for some reason)
1. How old are you?
21
2. Current job?
I work as a personal counsellor for a person with a physical disability
3. Dream job?
I want to become a clinical neuropsychologist, but that is another 4 year education that I may not be able to handle physically. In the meantime I’d like to become a rehabilitation specialist for people with traumatic brain injuries.
4. What are you talented at?
I’m good at drawing and I’m getting better at cooking.
5. What is a big goal you are working towards, or have already achieved?
I have my bachelor of science and I’d really like to get a master. I’ve also been training to be able to walk and cycle for longer and I can almost cycle half an hour (with short breaks) now. I used to not be able to go up stairs with 5 steps or walk the 5 minutes from the busstop to my house, so I think that’s pretty good.
6. What is your aesthetic?
Most often I would say flower goth, so dark fabrics with dark lipstick and eyeliner and then flower prints and a bit of bright colour. Sometimes I like to dress like a hipster dude, or in swing dresses, or full goth, or butch as well though. I don’t think I have to really keep one theme all the time.
7. Do you collect anything?
I collect the jojo mangas and I have a shelf with all kinds of gems and seashells and stuff I collected over the years. I also collect unconventional lipstick colours so I have black, purple, teal, green, cerulean and lilac now, that I like to wear sometimes.
8. What is a topic you’re always up to talk about?
Not to sound like a hippie but I don’t really care, I like hearing people talk about things that excite them so even if I don’t know a lot about it I still like the conversation.
9. What’s a pet peeve of yours?
I don’t like it when people correct me on stuff that doesn’t matter. For instance if I say “oh like 9 months ago we went to this thing” and someone says “no it was a year”.  Or when people excuse their partners mediocrity by saying ‘boys will be boys’ and ‘that’s just how women are’ and the like.
10. Good advice to give?
Don’t give advice to people who don’t want it and then get angry they didn’t follow it. I’ve known too many people who thought they would just solve other people’s problems in two minutes and then made themselves the victim when that didn’t work. Sometimes you just have to listen and not talk.
11. Recommend three songs:
Don’t want you back - Bakermat ft. Kiesza
Brighter than gold - The Cat Empire  Intergalactic rock - Daft punk vs Beastie Boys

Seventeen’s reaction to seeing you outside of work *Vocal Unit*
Gifs are not mine.
I’m trying to keep the gender of the reader unspecified so everyone can enjoy these beautiful boys.
If you have any ideas, then feel free to tell me what to write next.
You are an idol. The members of Seventeen each had a day off and the vocal unit decided to go into town for some shopping, only to bump into you.
How do they react?
Jeonghan
Jeonghan had wandered into the hair isle of a store after realizing the others had used up the last of his shampoo and conditioner. Although his hair is shorter now he still overly pampered it and liked it smelling angelic at all times. As he was trying to decide which scent he wanted, he noticed you. He recognized your face immediately, as he had recently heard good things about you and your group, although you were wearing a mask to keep from being seen he still somehow recognised your eyes.
He had never been someone to crush on others, or feel nervous in someone else's presence as he himself was a naturally attractive and confident person. However just by being a few steps away from you he could feel his heart flutter. You were even more gorgeous then he’d thought and he wanted so badly to speak to you. If only he could calm his nerves.
He attempted to regain his composure and nearly did until he noticed you were walking away. Panicking, he followed you until you reached the exit of the store. Loudly clearing his throat, you stopped and turned your head in the direction of the noise.
Tumblr media
He then proceeded to walk past you and open the door after noticing your hands were full, his mask was the only thing hiding the blush on his face. Thankfully causing you not to notice it.
“You seem to have your hands full, so i thought i’d open the door.”
He explained his actions to you while keeping eye contact the entire time. You felt yourself overwhelmed with his polite action and smiled accepting his gesture by walking out the door and waiting for him to follow.
“Thank you very much... Jeonghan”
He froze, watching you bow then walk away. You... knew... him?
For the rest of the day nothing could ruin his mood and he told himself that the next time he had the pleasure of meeting you, he’d get your number.
Joshua
Joshua left the others to enter a book shop, hoping to get a new bible find some new manga to read. He was browsing the isle when he heard a loud bang and a yelp. Turning he found you looking around awkwardly with almost a shelf full of books laying at your feet. Being the gentlemen he was it didn’t take a moment before he was on his hands and knees helping you pick them up.
As he was doing this he took a moment to look at you, realizing quickly who you were. A very popular idol that he admired due to your undeniable talent. His knowledge of you didn’t show on his face though as he just kept a friendly smile and finished helping you. To his surprise however it was you that spoke up first.
“Thank you! You certainly live up to your reputation as the gentlemen of seventeen”
Tumblr media
He only nodded, refusing to show his excitement that you knew who he was.
“And you live up to your reputation as well (y/n)”
He bowed and left after saying that, bringing with him a few books to the checkout. You only stood there watching him leave, only later realizing what he had said...
You were well known as being one of the most attractive idols around right now, not that you agreed... but apparently he did...
Smiling you left the shop with a new found love for the handsome vocalist.
Woozi
As soon as he got the chance he escaped from the others and went into a music store. He was browsing albums, proudly glancing at the crowd of girls surrounding seventeens most recent one, but making sure to keep his head down. He was about to pick up one that caught his interest when he noticed a crowd of reporters outside.
Ducking down, running to the back of the shop and into a dark corner that looked to be where the more unpopular albums were displayed, he watched the crowds movements. Only when they had passed did he take a sigh of relief and relax a little bit, mentally telling himself to message the others to warn them.
However before pulling out his phone he heard a whisper.
“A-are they gone?”
He looked around to see you crouched down and looking cautiously through the gaps in the isle. Although it took him a moment, he eventually recognized you were a popular idol. Feeling relieved that he found someone who wasn’t going to reveal his identity he sat down next to you nodding in answer and blushing about you seeing him basically run across the shop and army role into cover.
Tumblr media
“O-oh, yes they are gone” He internally kicked himself for stuttering and smiling so much but he couldn’t help it. You were just too cute!
You smiled at him
“I’m glad i’m not the only idol here. Though don’t you think it would’ve been better to go into a different shop if you didn’t what to be seen? I mean your album only got released recently”
He blinked at you, realizing that what you said was true but mainly noticing the fact you knew who he was. He was about to reply when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Quickly apologizing he answered it, hearing a very panicked DK on the other end. Figuring he must have found out about the reporters the hard way he rose to his feet, hung up on DK and held out his hand to help you up.
“Sorry, my members seem to be having trouble, but before i go...I’ll ask you the same question. If you didn’t want to be seen, why did you come into a shop like this too?”
You took a moment to answer but instead of speaking you merely showed him the contents of your bag... It contained Seventeens recent album. You smiled at him and walked away, not waiting for him to talk.
Still hiding at the back of the store he tried to regain his composure and calm the blush that heated his face. He was only brought back to reality when his phone went off again and he had to answer it. He didn’t wait for the caller to talk.
“Dokyeom-shi! I’m on my way, stop screaming or i’ll get Joshua hyungs guitar again.”
DK
DK had accidentally gotten separated from the others, despite being told on countless occasions to stop running off and avoid drawing attention to them as it only caused hassle if reporters found them. In the end it was a few carats that stopped him and took his attention away from his teams whereabouts.
Not knowing the area very well and figuring out that he had forgotten his phone he decided to find his way back to the car and wait for the others there, instead of getting lost even more.
When he finally found the car park, he was happy to see the vending machine next to their parking space. He ran over to it happily, scanning his options. Once he had picked he began rummaging through his pockets but soon realized he also hadn’t bought any money...
Sulking, he sat by the machine in defeat, only looking up when he heard footsteps. You were walking towards the machine, only noticing him when you got too close to turn around, making you walk more cautiously then before, not wanting to draw any attention to where you were on one of your only days off. Luckily, he quickly stood up, realizing how odd it must look from your point of view. Upon closer inspection he recognized you to be an idol like him and you became aware of the same thing.
You quickly pulled out your change, becoming nervous after figuring out the strange mans identity and clumsily dropped some of your money in the process.
DK, who had just begun to awkwardly walk away, instead turned and collected the fallen coins for you. You laughed nervously, bowing and apologizing for your mistake, but he only laughed kindly.
“Don’t worry, i drop things all the time”
He put on his signature goofy smile, making your worry and nervousness disappear. After DK handed you the money you started pushing it into the slot, only stopping when you had put in enough for two drinks.
“Which one would you like?” You turned and asked DK, showing you had put the money in already, so he couldn’t refuse your offer. He laughed and pointed at one, prompting you to pick it.
When you turned to pass it to him, he was lent against his car. He took it happily. You were about to leave when he spoke.
Tumblr media
“Next time we meet i’ll buy you a drink, ‘kay?”
You smiled at him, nodding before leaving towards your own car.
Watching you walk away and sipping his drink, DK silently thanked himself for being so forgetful.
Seungkwan
Seungkwan had been lined up for 10 minutes now, eagerly awaiting the food he had spotted and decided to buy himself for lunch.
A part of him wanted to skip to the front by revealing his identity but he knew better and patiently stayed in the long line. He was getting closer to his food when he heard a rumble behind him. At first he thought it was his own stomach but after seeing you blushing at the ground he knew it must have come from you. You looked up and apologized to him after he didn't turn away and only stared at you.
“Sorry, i haven't eaten all day and the food smells really yummy”
You giggled after speaking, triggering Seungkwans memory of you. He remembered hearing you laugh at an award show and could recognize it instantly since he thought it was extremely cute. He became flustered that you were talking to him so openly though, now that he knew it was you.
“A-ah it’s not a problem, i’m looking forward to the food too” He turned back around, scared of saying anything more, in case he embarrasses himself or offends you.
After finally arriving at the counter he ordered what he wanted and received it quickly afterward. Moving to the side he allowed you to take his spot, only to be told that they were sold out. Seungkwan stopped himself from eating after this, watching you calm the shopkeeper who was apologizing over and over for the inconvenience.
You moved away, slightly sad because you were still hungry, but stopped when someone cleared their throat.
Tumblr media
“Would you like some of mine?”
Seungkwan offered his food to you, making you smile and warmly accept it, he then gave you a handful more of it, which he neatly wrapped up in some tissue so you wouldn’t get your hands dirty.
He bowed to you, signifying he was about to leave but instead you said one last thing to him.
“Seungkwan... i think this food is so yummy, because you are the one who gave it to me”
He watched you walk away, nibbling at the food. He almost forgot about his own because he was so shocked at what you had said. He was happy though, feeling his heart beat every time he thought of your pleased expression. He would do anything to see it again.
Especially if he could hear your laugh again too.
02:32am and finally finished~

RFA (including Saeran and V) reacting to MC who loves Yaoi? :)
Oh my God I´m just so excited to write this o(^▽^)o
_Yoosung_
° Yoosung was at your house to help you get your things for the sleepover at his parent´s
° he knew you were sort of an otaku, so he wasn´t suprised to find a bookshelf filled with mangas over mangas
° he himself only read some including his favourite LOLOL characters
° (I guess some sort of doujinshii)¯\_(ツ)_/¯
° “Hey MC, can I borrow a manga from your shelf?”
° “Sure go ahead. But don´t make a mess.”
° as every good fujoshi you kept your most precious copys in the very back of said shelf
° it was a habit Yoosung also hold ¯\_ʘᗜʘ_/¯
°  NOT good….
° “Hey MC what is this about?”
° you looked around and to your suprise he was showing you the cover of Ten Count No.5 (it´s the latest one available in my coutry XD)
° your emergency-yaoi-bells rang and you tried to take it away from him
° “Give that back you won´t like it, trust me!”
° but he held it out of your reach when did this brat get so damn tall?
° “Why do you want to hide it that badly MC?”
° “Because of reasons!” (;¬_¬)
° he then did the unavoidable and opend the book
° of course it was not a page with Shirotani and Kurose talking
° and of course it wasn´t one with Kurose in his childhood either
° it was one of those pages
°  if you want to know to what I´m reffering to please check out Ten Count chapter 27/28  o((*^▽^*))o
° with a bam he dropped the book on the grounf, now red as a certain character involved in the manga
° “M-MC, what is that? Don´t tell me all of theese contain such….. acts??”
° he was the definition of embarassment becoming alive at this point
° “No they´re not! You just had to pick one from the back, hadn´t you?”
° if you say it like that it sounds as if he´s at fault here…
° “I´m so sorry I won´t ever take one from the back again.”
° this poor boy is now shocked for live ヽ(*>∇
° but hey MC can like what she wants anyway XD
° sometimes you have to learn the hard way Yoosung….
_Jaehee_
° Finalyyyy~ your long awaited package arrived~
° you said good bye to the postman and now held a big box full of new Yaoi-Mangas in your hands
° BEST.DAY.EVER!!
° as you opend the box the one copy you´ve waited for forever to be realeased in korea happen to be on top
° so why wait when you can enjoy it now  o(≧∇≦o)
° it was called The right way to write Love
° (personally I really enjoyed reading it)
° after your precious box was carefully put away under the bed of course you settled down on the couch and began reading
° when you finished the first story you were almost crying from all the sweetness    ⊂(♡⌂♡)⊃
° but the following one…. dear god forgive me for I have sinned for reading that
° let´s just say the focus was set on interhuman interactions and by interaction I mean in a physical way
° to summarise: it wasn´t something you would want your parents to see             。(*^▽^*)ゞ
° unfortunate she´s Mommy-Jaehee
° since it felt quiet alone in the house you turned on the TV to have some noises
° because of these noises you didn´t hear the door opening and Jaehee calling out for you
° your faced away from the door so you didn´t see her entering the living either
° “Hello, what are you reading MC.”
° because you´re a real fujoshi and your entire focus was on reading physical-gay-interaction (if you know what I mean) it was like she´s talking to a wall
° so she decided to just take a look at what captured your attention so much that you didnt notice her
° bad mistake….( ≧Д≦)
° “My gosh MC what are you reading? What are they even doing??!!”
° to say it was the shock of her life was an understatement XD
° you screamed. she screamen. the girl on TV screamed
° as quick as you could you closed the page and hid the book behind you
° blood was running from her nose and it resembled the colour of her cheeks
° “Let´s just not talk about this again. Ever!”
° a nod was all you could manage to do while going to your room and laughing like a mad man  。(*^▽^*)ゞ
_Zen_
° as always Zen was out off the house to practice his new play
° for you this meant you´ve got some special freetime which you always dedicate to your secret Yaoi-obsession
° this means: singing openings, watching anime, reading manga and fanfiction and of course and liking tons of fanart
° as your anime of the day you selected the masterpiece Junjou Romantica, season one
° while watching (let´s just assume MC is such a big fan she understands japanese) you also read the mangas because why the heck not ? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
° you  know how the second episode ends? Misaki quitting Virgin-Cub
° the same Thing happend in the manga, just a BIT more detailed
° you started hearing the intro-song for the 3rd time this day and couldn´t resist singing along
° while singing you kept the page you were currently reading open, to continue anytime
° but while singing and constantly turning the volume up the arrival of a certain actor remained unnoticed
° he always thought it was simply impossible to not notice him, but there you were, singing some catchy tune and reading some book
° his abnormal bid ego just couldn´t bear that….(҂⌣̀_⌣́)
° it was logical to him to pay you back for that
° standing behind you he coverd your eyes and took a look at the page infront of him
° remember what I said about the manga having more detail?
° you tried to struggle free and hide everything but it was to late
° “MC, what is happening there?”
° fuck, he saw
° “Eh…. you know, when two peoplelove each other they do interactions on a physical level..”
° “I know that! But These are dudes MC, dudes!”
° “Do you want me to become gay?”
° “What? No, of course not Zen.”
° is it to much to expect people to accept your likings? Yes? ok then I said nothing
° you had to explain a LOT to him but in the end he kind of accepted you liking this genre?
° still a bit disgusted tho
° but to distract you from this stuff he walks around shirtless a lot more than he did before, and to show you that he looks a dozen times better than those men    ( ° ʖ °)
_Jumin_
° you had to be careful, very careful…
° because every package that arrived was controlled by one of the security members
° that meant you couldn´t just order Yaoi-Merch online like you used to as a single
° the consequence was that you had to buy all of this stuff either at a shop or ask one of your friends to order it for you
° today you went out shopping and to your luck you were able to do that without any guards following you
° this was the perfect opportunity to stock up on mangas o(≧∇≦o)
° you returned to the penthouse with a bag full of precious new babys for your collection
°  back home, Elisabeth joined you on the big couch where all of the copys layed in a big mess
° she just purred like she didn´t care XD
° 1 houre later you already finished the first 2 volumes of Sekaii ichi Hatsokoi and started with the 3rd
° (if you wonder it´s the case of Onodera Ritsu No. 5)
° you looked at the clock and to your relief there was still an hour left till Jumin will come back
° so you cleaned up the mess you created, planning to continue reading after you´ve finished
° unfortunately you left the book on the couch with Elisabeth
° what was even more unfortunate, Jumin´s last meeting was canceled and to suprise you he didn´t send a text to warn you
° as you put the last bok away in the shelf you heard a scream, Jumin´s scream
° “ MC what is this Piece of junk doing here!?”
° no need to say it like that…¯\_(⌣̯̀⌣́)_/¯
° “Jumin don´t shout like that you´ll scare Elisabeth.”
° rushing to the living room the worst case scenario already has happend
° he was reading the damn book, right on the page where you left of
° Takano forcing himself on Ritsu once again
° “Jumin, give me back my book, please.”
° to your suprise rather than angry or disgusted he looked more confused
° Thank God!
° “MC why would you read something like that? Do I not satisfy you enough?”
° great now he looked hurt.. but still this is way better than angry
° “What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with you Jumin I just enjoy reading it.”
° he looked like a little confused kid and than did the last thing you´ve expected
° “Jumin! What are you doing put me down this instant!!”
° “No.”
° apparently he had to make sure he still satisfied you for the rest of the day
° so it wasn´t even that bad that he foudn out about your no longer secret hobby
_Saeyoung/Seven_
° I saved the most strange one for him XD
° when he did the background-check on you he also took a look at your online orders
° and there he thought he already was the biggest Fujoshi Queen King…           (╬ Ò ‸ Ó)
° this being a critical hit on his ego he made up his mind to pay you back one day
° after you moved in with Seven and Saeran you stopped ordering online and bought every book your heart desired in the local bookstore
° because you just knew Seven would tease you nonstop if he found out about that obsession of yours
° little did you know Special-Agent 707 already had his masterplan ready…
° when you came back he wasn´t on his Computer, which was very unusual° instead he sat infront of the TV and it looked like he was waiting for you to return
° “Hey Seven what´re you doing here?”
° “Good you´re back I was waiting for you to come back and watch some anime with me.”
° you didn´t exactly know why but you already had a bad Feeling about this
° “Everytime we watch something it´s either disgusting or disturbing.”
° I´m only dropping the words Euphoria and Corpse Party here
° “But MC~ I know you´ll enjoy it this time.”
° Oh God this sounds so wrong
° you gave your okay to watch whatever it was with him
° but when you heard the first tune of the opening theme, you instantly knew what was going on
° but since you watched every freaking Yaoi, even if it was very strange/disturbing you were prepared
° personally, Ai no Kusabi disturbed me XD
° you somehow had the idea he already knew about you passion, so why not do the worst Thing to a Fujoshi? Spoiler
° “Did you know that they´ll cut Ricky´s dick off?”
° “WHAT??”
° he was shocked, and let me tell you to shock him is an Action worth a nobelprice
° MC used Spoiler, it was super-effective
° as if faced Medusa he was now turned to stone
° this means it was MC´s victuuriory
° he stayed like this until Saeran did the ice-bucket challenge to him XD
_V_
° he´s blind so I thought why not write about Drama CDs
° V had an appointment at the doctors to look after his eyes
° you stayed home because Jumin wanted to accompany him very desperately
° being a goog girlfriend you of course let him do that
° for you it meant that you could listen to your new CD over the sound system and without headphones
° said CD was called Kuroneko Kareshi no Nakasekata ( it means something like black cat´s boyfriend to cry for I think..)
° because of V´s eyesight-situation he decided to focus on his other senses a lot more and invested in one of the best sound systems
° this was to your joy once again o(*≧□≦)o
° you didn´t understand much, but it didn´t matter to you since you were reading the translations at the same time
° did I mention it was really loud and you didn´t notice anything else? Good, Keep that in mind for now
°  one of the things that remained unnoticed was V entering the house
° the first thing he heardwas some strange, male moaning
° he thought you would be cheating an was on the edge of tears
° poor V(︶︹︺)
° but then there was another moaning, also from a male person and this seemed very strange to him
° he entered the livingroom, still unnoticed by you
° you then noticed him because he closed the door a LITTLE to loud which caused you to turn around in shock
° as quick as you could you turnd the sound system off to stop those noises
° “Oh, hey V. Is your appointment finished already? I used the System..”
° you were more than just relived that he didn´t bring Jumin with him in the flat
° “Listen, we won´t talk about that but if this is yout hobby than I won´t say anything. Just don´t let me hear it again OK?”
° you gave your ok and hurried into the kitchen do prepare the dinner
° by this time V´s head and yours were as red as the tomatoes you were currently cutting
_Saeran_
° his brother dragged him away to do some fishing to “deepen their brotherly-bond”¯\_(ツ)_/¯
° that meant you had finally time to play the game you purchased last week
° after getting comfortable on the couch and putting on some headphones for better sound you hit the start button of Dramatical Murder
° you started right away with Noize’s route
° and of course aimed for the best ending possible
° as you played or red to be more precisely, the hours flew by
° I played Amnesia (the otome-game) and it really took some time to finish a route
° so after you played for like 6 hours straight it finally payed off
° that meant the good parts came, and they weren’t the only thing that did
° if you know what I mean
° you already saw some of the CGs online but damn
° unlocking them yourself and hearing the voice actors while seeing it was way more satisfying (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
° so satisfying that you, however that is possible, didn’t hear Seven screaming that they’re back
° when Saeran couldn’t hear an answer from you he immediately thought the worst
° you finaly leaving him because of how fucked up he is  .( ˃﹏˂̵ )
° don’t think that my poor, precious baby I love you ( ≧Д≦)
° so he was more than happy to see you sitting on the Couch with some headphones on
° “So that´s why she didn´t hear us…”
° of course it was unacceptable that you ignored him
° he had to pay you back for that, that was a sure thing
° so he wanted to see what was more important to you than him at the Moment
° as quiet as he could, he walked behind you to take a look at your Screen
° he didn´t like what he saw….
° the next things happend in only a few moments
° he placed your headphones somwhere els and turned off the handheld-consol you were playing on
° after that you remembered laying on your bed with Saeran ontop of you and already pulling at your shirt
° “MC you were a bad Girl for playing These naughty games. So for that you must be punished.”
° and he did. the whole night.
This was so fun writing I had the fun of my life o(*>ωAlthough I lost the document 2 times
I hope you like it and enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing o(^▽^)o
