She probably learned about it through the internet like I did once they got to the human realm (I hope they got to celebrate pride month while they were there too)

Now for the traumatized kid. We all know he is confirmed to be Bi and I've seen so many HCs about Hunter being transfemme but I feel that they would want to keep their masc energy but not completely. I think demiboy fits him quite well don't you think? As a demigirl myself I quite like the representation :) don't get me wrong I love trans characters I just like the "not straight straight couple" representation too and this felt like a nice balance

Now a lot of people like to ship Gus with Mattholomule (or rather Mat Tholomule) but judging by Gus's reaction to Man Tholomule™'s mustache of confusion (and maybe a little disgust lol) and the lack of an actual love interest I like to think Gus is an aroace lad (also the ✨aesthetic✨)

yeah. Like I get it. Keeley was always hinting at being bisexual. But she was always hinting at it, the same way so many "straight" female characters in countless shows and films did before. I mean, it's a well known trope at this point. It's no wonder people want a "confirmation".

Because I remember Phoebe Buffay and Samantha Jones and Eleanor Shellstrop and so so many others. I remember the years of wishing and hoping before Stephanie Beatriz and then subsequently Rosa Diaz came out as bi. I remember when Clarke and Lexa had chemistry but we didn't believe them to go there. I remember so many people doubting that Korra and Asami would ever get together etc.

I see all these people getting angry that we're celebrating "a confirmation" and tbh to me, it sounds like those people don't know the history. Especially with bisexual female characters. There was a time until quite recently actually where people were put into two categories. Either you were gay or straight. Remember Lindsay in Queer as Folk who was perceived as lesbian, then had an affair with a man and then when she got back with Melanie she was again seen as a lesbian. Having actual confirmed bisexual well-rounded female characters is still quite rare. There are so many examples where bisexual female characters were treated poorly. It's always either a tantalizing one-off episode where the female character somehow ends up kissing a girl only to go back to her destined boyfriend, or it's treated like this everlasting joke. Bisexual characters are still rare and it's even rarer to have them be treated with the care their storylines deserve tbh. Seriously I cried my heart out during those Rose Diaz episodes because it was the first time I saw an episode that was so clearly written by bisexual woman about issues that we face.

And even though it's about queer characters in general (and I think the specific issue of bisexual female characters runs a bit deeper) I think this interview with David Jenkins about the reactions to Our Flag Means Death queer storyline sums up the whole queerbaiting and the deeprooted disbelief in stories treating us good pretty well.

I trust the Ted Lasso writers but even I was sceptical about if they'll go down that road. I thought they're already juggling multiple storylines, they will obviously get Roy and Keeley back together, there's a small chance they will actually make something out of it. I'm happy to be proven wrong. But I'm not surprised that many people also didn't want to believe it until we got some more confirmation.

Anyway. This is probably a retorical question/ragebait but I'm gonna answer it like it isn't. Basically lgbtqia+ labels are based on a defiance of typical labels and are very fluid. Even so, mspec lesbians have always been around. Also the split attraction model means someone can feel romantic attraction to women but queeplatonic attraction to everyone, for example. Homoflexible lesbians are also almost exclusively attracted to women, but the exception makes them mspec. There are other reasons of course. Also I personally used to identify as one but everyone assumed I was allo hjlglgjfkhfh. Hope this helped. :)

This message was still in my inbox from early September somehow. But I remember the person anon is referring to, usually it's easy to remember idiots with internalised lesbophobia so huge that they call themselves bi (even though it doesn't fit their reality), saying lesbians are "terf". I was so taken aback from that ask but in a way also not surprised. This is the consequence of everyone and their neighbours criticising lesbians constantly and in supposedly progressive circles. Anyway anon you're right, they can run for now trying to escape from these homophobes it will come back to them just the same. Actual lesbians can't stay too long denying what's happening, the cognitive dissonance and frustration becomes unbearable and at one point or another you say something you think isn't problematic at all (according to these 2.0 homophobes' standards) but then they start coming for your neck.

Always focus on protecting the lesbian community y'all, we need to prioritise ourselves and we won't say it too many times. It needs to be said over and over because it's super important. Other members of the community (gb but especially t) have asked that we care about their issues and fight for them without them ever caring and fighting for us, worst, they are being flagrantly lesbophobic. We aren't being targeted worse than witches (we'd have to be tortured, physically humiliated, burned for that) but yes there's a heavy, constant, noxious environment these homophobes have created. I’m a fem lesbian but I’m constantly mistaken for a straight woman and it gets so discouraging - what do you do to better signal yourself to lesbians?

It’s always the worst feeling. I have the same problem but I try to use flagging to help signal to the world that I’m not straight. So I know it’s been popularized by straights, but painting one nail an accent color can sometimes be a flag. I also tend to add lesbian related pins to any bag or outfit I’m wearing. You can also invest in some double Venus jewelry! I have a double Venus heart necklace that I wore every now and then when I went out in hopes of being recognized. I’ve also heard some people say that wearing asymmetrical earrings can help signal that you are gay but that’s kinda hard for me since I like my earrings to match 😭 If you like wearing makeup, try more loud and bold looks. Straight people tend to like to blend in or make it look like their not wearing makeup. I also just talk loudly and openly about being a lesbian. It can be hard and I know it’s a struggle but don’t let other peoples perception discourage you or make you feel like you aren’t gay enough because you don’t “look it”. The thing is it’s very complex and there is no right way to look gay.

I know for us femmes it can be a lot harder when express our identity and depending on how we chose to present wether it’s extremely feminine or androgynous, it’s your identity, you get to decide what it means to you. I know how easy it is to get wrapped up in what other people persevere you as. I hope that was able to help. I wish I knew all the answers but were all learning still.
