butterfly motif 🦋& vedic astrology

ive wanted to exclusively dedicate a post towards the use of the butterfly motif in pop culture, so here it is!! i think butterflies have had a re-emergence in fashion in the last few years and im here for it!!

🦋 as i've mentioned in many other posts, the nakshatras closely tied to using this motif repeatedly are the pisces rashi nakshatras of ubp and revati along with punarvasu nakshatra.

my own take is that, since pisces is the final rashi and the point of "absolution" it represents the end of chrysalis, when all elements have come together to create transformation; in pisces there is nothing left to do, but seek liberation from these cycles (its purpose is moksha,after all) and dissolve entirely into the cosmic ocean.

a butterfly is a beautiful symbol, representing not only the death of the creature that inhabited the cocoon but also reminding us that that death is necessary because only then can something as beautiful as a butterfly emerge from within that womb. the womb is the source of creation but you're not meant to stay there forever, that's not just stagnancy, that's death. birth is a painful process because you're leaving behind the only place you've ever known but you have no other option so you must be brave enough to face it.

this brings us to the connection of punarvasu nakshatra to butterflies. punarvasu's deity is goddess Aditi who is creation itself; she is the cosmic mother, she created this universe. in pisces, you seek liberation from the cycles of life but in punarvasu, life, the universe, creation itself takes place. thus it represents the butterfly emerging from the cocoon to claim its identity as a butterfly because the life it led before that was a non-life, it wasn't yet a butterfly, it was a non-being. goddess Aditi embodies infinite space and primordial vastness. what better way to represent the cosmic abundance than with a symbol like a butterfly? 🦋you cannot ask who created you because you are your own creation

When I tell you that I almost missed my own self-made deadline and have stressed about it constantly for the last three days. Thanks, me. This was completely re-written on the drop of a dime three hours ago because what I had before was garbage and I hated it. That being said, this chapter kinda destroyed two and a half future chapters in its own way, which then brought up a few new ways this whole thing can go...so I guess I'm just gonna wing it now? Which is how I live my life all the time honestly.

Also I felt this was the most natural way to introduce what the tape is? Idk, there may've been a better way. I'll think of it in three weeks and go "aha!" at four in the morning and never do anything about it. If you've never heard Steve Windwood's 'Back in the High Life' album, do yourself the favor. I don't have the tape, but I have the vinyl and it's my favorite.

The group hadn’t anticipated getting stuck on this run. They had hoped they could beat the snow in a last ditch effort to gather any supplies they could find, but that was easier said than done. The storm had rolled in faster than they’d thought it would. When they had woken up in Alexandria that morning, the smell of snow was in the air and the wind chill was brutal. It was surely a storm coming from the mountains and it was going to hit them hard. So the council had decided to send out a small group to see what they could find before they couldn’t leave at all. The group didn’t plan to go far. They had mapped out where they planned to go, how many places they could hit if they’d split into pairs, and even how much time they should spend in each place.

But halfway through the trek through the woods, the flurries started. And the flurries turned to large flakes. Then visibility started to decline with the temperature. They knew they had to find shelter sooner rather than later.

Emerging from the woods, they ended up in a small town that wasn’t on their routed trip but was familiar. It had been cleared for years, except for the straggler walkers that they’d find roaming the streets. But as the temperature dropped and the cold set in, the walkers became slower than they already were. It made it easier for the group to get through the minor maze of buildings before they decided to tuck into the abandoned library. It hadn’t taken them long to rip into old book spines and crack apart shelving units to start a small trash can fire in the center of the room.

“We need a plan,” a man named Jim said across from Y/N. “We can’t stay here.”

Jim wasn’t a nice man, Y/N decided, even though she had just formally met him this morning on their way out of the gates. He had a permanent scowl etched on his face, the look in his eyes seemed hard and calculating, and Y/N would put money on him having an angry streak. It was why she avoided him any time she saw him inside the walls of Alexandria and the fact that she was stuck in a compromising survival position with him now made her uneasy.

“We can’t go back out there.” Rosita said with her forearms draped over her knees as she stared into the small flames.

“We’ll die here!” Jim nearly yelled in disbelief. And that may be true. Depending on how long the storm outside lasted, they could run out of the food supplies they’d brought with them. Starving to death takes longer than it should though, so they had some time to wait it out. But Y/N also wouldn’t put it past this man to decide that the need to kill a member of their group was crucial to food stores and survival. The longer Y/N looked at this man, the more the anxiety in her chest bloomed. She decided he was a psycho and nobody could change her mind on that.

“We’ll die out there faster.” Y/N mentioned carefully. She had a tight grip on her backpack that she had tucked in her lap to hold in some warmth. When Jim’s eyes averted their gaze to hers, Y/N wished she had kept her mouth shut. It’s not that she was afraid of him… this just wasn’t the place nor the time to have tension in the group. Y/N tore her eyes away from his and began to unzip her backpack. She was becoming increasingly anxious and was very grateful for Aaron at the moment.

Before they had left, a few had gathered at the gate with them. Aaron had made sure to wish her luck and tell her to be safe and to slip the tape player into her backpack with a smile. She had mentioned weeks ago that she would listen to music while traveling because it cleared her mind. Being out in the world alone now scared the shit out of her, but the music had helped alleviate some of the frustration and anxiety and help her make better decisions. And for a run that was cutting it close to an incoming storm, he thought maybe she’d like to have it with her. So she gently tugged it out of her bag now, trying not to rustle around the food supplies in her bag too much, because she didn’t want any extra attention on those at the moment. Not with Jim still staring at her over the fire. She gently unraveled the cord from around the headphones and slipped them around her neck. She pressed play on the player and the music started at a barely audible level.

“Oh for fuck’s sake.” Jim said with a shake of his head. “This seems like a good time to start your weird bullshit?”

His tone was angry and accusing and Daryl didn’t like it at all. Daryl sat a little bit behind Y/N with his back rested against a fallen bookshelf. He was passing time by ripping page after page out of books and stacking them in a pile beside him. He was keeping a close eye on Y/N and how she kept trying to tuck herself further into her coat for warmth and the tiny growl from her stomach because they were currently missing a hot meal back at Alexandria. He’d admittedly been keeping a close eye on her for the last week or so, since she started limping again. He’d briefly asked her about it, and the answer reminded him of some shit someone’s grandma would say.

“It acts up when it gets cold.” She had said with a small shrug.

But her slower gait and the occasional grimace she’d let out when she’d stand had Daryl on edge. And when Michonne had asked her if she wanted to come out for this run, Daryl had almost told both of them no. He tried to reason with himself that he just didn’t want Y/N to slow the group down. But he knew better than that; he wanted her to be safe in Alexandria where she could scoot herself up to a warm fire where there was shelter and available ice packs for her when she needed one.

Of course she’d said yes to coming out with the group where the walking, paired with the frigid temperature, changed her gait more for the worse as their trip went on. Daryl had wanted to make her sit and take breaks but the best he could do was slow his own steps. In the times they’d been out of the walls together, which was only twice now, the two of them had kept step with each other. He knew deep down that if he told her to take it easy or to take a break, that she would push ahead harder and faster. She was hard-headed and stubborn and really did not like when people told her to do anything that ‘may be best’ for her. He witnessed the fiasco when Siddiq had tried to tell her how to take care of herself when her ankle started to act up last week, the same day Daryl noticed. Even though she knew Siddiq was right, and consequently took the ice pack from him anyway, she still felt the need to tell him that she didn’t need any help unless she asked. It was an amusing scene to watch. And when Daryl’s steps slowed in the forest as the snow started to come down in sheets, Y/n’s steps slowed to match his even though her mind was telling her to pick it up and find safety.

“Enough.” Rosita had warned Jim. She peeked over at Y/N who’s gaze was fixed on the spinning wheels of the tape inside the player.

“She’s too busy messing around with a stupid tape and skating around Alexandria with her head in the fucking clouds and not doing her part normally. And she can barely keep up with us out here!” Jim yelled now, raising to his knees as he pointed in Y/N’s direction. The outburst had amused Y/N and angered Daryl at the same time.

“If I had to keep up with you, I’d already be dead” Y/N offered as the beats of the second track started to come through the headphones. And she watched as Jim fully stood now, taking a single step towards her. She was still sitting on the ground and she laughed that he thought his height towering over her would intimidate her. Her hand rested calmly on the grip of her gun just inside her backpack, none too worried that the sound of a gun would attract walkers over the howling of the wind outside.

A heavy smack was then heard throughout the room as the small fire sent sparks fluttering towards the ceiling. A large stack of paper slammed into the fire, catching quickly and casting a brighter glow across the room as the flames grew. Y/N felt Daryl come up beside her but she refused to take her eye’s off of Jim’s. Jim was like a mountain lion. Eye contact was crucial or you risk being mauled.

What Jim, and everyone else, underestimated was Daryl’s need to come to Y/N’s aid at the moment. His foot falls were quick and agile as his fists found themselves wound in the front of Jim’s jacket.

“Don’ even think about gettin’ close to her again.” Daryl said, his voice a low grumble. And then he shoved Jim a few feet back, where he had to stumble exaggeratedly to catch himself from falling. The few others in the room started to shift away from the already dying commotion, not wanting to get stuck on the shit end of the deal and get thrown out into the cold. They all watched as Jim practically pouted at his inability to take control of the room and took himself to camp out in a far corner of the room, away from everyone else. Daryl planned to make sure that he was dealt with properly once they got back to Alexandria. Unless Jim stepped out of line with Y/N again, then Daryl would just toss him to a walker and keep going.

Daryl took the spot beside Y/n.

“My hero.” She said with a smirk. She didn’t understand why Daryl got so mad or why he felt the need to keep an eye on her or make sure she was alright, but she wasn’t going to complain. The odd, unexpected attention from Daryl made her feel a different kind of safe than she’d felt before.

“Shu’up” He grumbled. And then they fell into a brief silence as the room returned to a calm. “Wha’ are ya listenin’ to anyway?”

He watched a small smile appear as she kept her eyes focused forward. She reached into the front pocket of her bag for the case she’d accidentally stepped on last week after it tumbled down the steps on the way to her room. It donned massive cracks now and one of the plastic hinges was barely hanging on. Somehow her full weight coming down on it didn’t damage the tape inside. She offered it out to Daryl and watched as his eyebrows crinkled as he read the faded paper insert.

“Ever heard it?” She asked quietly.

“Nah.” He responded quickly. His father never listened to anything other than old country and heavy rock music. By the time he got old enough to pick the music, he gravitated towards the more aggressive genres, naturally. The thought made him want to laugh. He didn’t recognize any of the song titles or the cover that now seemed to be light gray and baby pink from water damage or who Steve Winwood was.

“My dad had this huge music collection and I always told myself I was going to memorize all of it. I only got through maybe a sixth of it before the world ended. I snagged that tape a week before. Betty at the rink used to let me pop on any music I wanted when I was the only one there… It was the first place I heard it. I remember thinking, ‘Man, this is some old man music’, and I chucked it back into my book bag before I even got through the first two songs and forgot to put it back. I didn’t find it again until two weeks after everything ended… We threw so much crap into the back seat of my dad’s truck when we were trying not to escape town. I didn’t remember throwing my school bag in there… Maybe I had hoped that everything would be okay and I could finish my college applications and life would go back to normal. But it didn’t, so I balled them up and chucked them out the window one by one and that’s how I found that tape again. Popped it into the tape deck dad still had in the truck, threw the rest of my school books out the window with gusto, and the rest is history.”

Daryl found that the grip on the plastic became more gentle as she spoke, before he finally offered it back to her. A few of her fingers brushed his as she took it from him.

“I cut someone’s fingers off for this, once.” Y/N said, matter of fact. She had a humored smile on her face and she knew Daryl didn’t believe her one bit. “I did! Well… not specifically for this. He was also a sexist pig so I suppose I was looking for a reason to hurt him already.”

“Wha’ was his name?” Daryl asked.

“Why?” She almost laughed. “You gonna beat him up, too?”

Daryl watched as she smiled again before he turned away. His head shook, his hair falling into his eyes and the tips of his ears burned. She let out a small chuckle and she tucked her gloved hands deeper into the pockets of her coat.

“You’re gonna give me a complex if you fight all the bad guys for me, Dixon.” She said quietly. And that was that. They fell into another silence, this one lasting deep into the night. Watch shifts were assigned, food was swapped between the group, and Y/N had drifted off to sleep with her head resting on her backpack, protecting the few things she’d managed to keep safe in the past years.

BACKSTORY

luca  was  born  in  jersey  city  on  a  cold  ass  ,  snowy  december  day 

his  parents  ,  at  the  time  ,  were  thrilled  to  add  another  member  to  their  small  family  after  trying  to  get  pregnant  for  years  after  giving  birth  to  their  first  son

from  what  luca  remembers  of  the  first  ten  years  of  his  life  ,  it  was  pretty  normal  ,  pretty  happy  aside  from  his  older  brother  doing  older  brother  things  to  make  his  life  hell

he  was  in  fifth  grade  was  when  he  started  to  notice  a  change  in  his  family  --  his  dad  seemed  to  work  a  lot  ,  slept  on  the  couch  often  ,  he  could  hear  arguing  coming  from  their  room  at  all  hours  of  the  day

his  brother  ,  about  fourteen  at  the  time  ,  would  distract  him  with  video  games  and  skateboarding  lessons  because  he  was  old  enough  to  know  what  was  going  on

the  next  year  was  when  his  parents  filed  for  divorce  ,  and  of  course  at  the  time  he  didn’t  know  it  was  because  his  dad  had  been  cheating  on  his  mom  but  he  did  get  remarried  awfully  quick  so  it  didn’t  take  a  genius  to  figure  it  out

his  mom  had  family  in  new  york  so  that’s  where  she  moved  them  ,  close  enough  that  they  could  spend  their  mandatory  weekends  with  their  dad  ,  although  once  his  new  wife  got  pregnant  those  visits  dwindled  down  to  nothing

and  when  he  was  fourteen  his  mom  got  remarried  too  ,  the  same  year  his  brother  left  for  college  ,  leaving  luca  to  deal  with  them  alone

so  high  school  was  rough  for  him  .  he  was  in  detention  a  lot  ,  one  of  those  kids  that  you  just  expected  to  get  in  trouble  on  any  day  ending  in  a  y

but  jeez  was  he  rich  ,  some  soulless  businessman  type  that  liked  to  make  money  but  liked  to  spend  it  even  more  ,  always  flying  his  mom  out  to  tropical  vacations  and  buying  luca  whatever  new  iphone  or  playstation  just  came  out  ,  probably  just  to  keep  him  from  bitching  too  much

his  mom  ,  though  he  loves  her  to  death  and  knows  she  was  just  trying  to  give  him  the  best  possible  life  ,  was  easily  won  over  by  the  money  ;  she  loved  the  nights  spent  at  expensive  restaurants  and  hotels  ,  loved  going  to  broadway  shows  and  spending  thousands  on  a  single  shopping  trip

so  she  wasn’t  around  much  either  ,  but  luca  kept  his  mouth  shut  because  he  figured  she  deserved  it  after  dealing  with  his  dad  for  all  those  years

and  luca  figured  he’d  make  the  best  out  of  the  situation  ,  asking  his  stepdad  for  music  lessons  and  drum  sets  and  guitars  because  he  had  always  been  interested  in  learning  to  play

he  met  his  best  friends  and  bandmates  through  school  --  at  first  they  were  just  fucking  around  and  jamming  in  one  of  their  garages  ,  and  when  the  idea  of  making  a  band  came  up  he  just  went  with  it  ,  never  having  been  all  that  interested  in  academics  anyways

1. Who was your bias when you first started liking BTS?

 - RM! He was the first member I noticed and I was instantly attracted to his looks and mannerisms.

2. Who is your current bias?

  - Min Yoongi :) It’s funny because in the beginning when I would rank them in order of who I liked the most SUGA would always be last. It wasn’t until I really watched a lot of their interviews and videos that I realized how he really is and how it just takes time to warm up to him (a common occurrence with most new ARMY haha our sweet tsundere Yoongs).

3. Which member is your bias wrecker?

- Jungkookie! He’s so special and his dorkiness really gets to me sometimes. I think we would be good friends!

4. What is your favorite Bangtan Bomb?

- I have watched the one where Jungkook and Jimin do the ‘Coming of Age Ceremony’ dance way more times than I’d like to admit. They both look so sexy but adorable at the same time (let’s be real though, that’s every member always (their duality, man))... also I love the bomb of their dance practice for Baepsae, (which coincidentally is on the same day as the first clip of the other bomb). They look like they’re having so much fun, that song hypes me uuuuup and I think it’s hilarious that Yoongi loses rock, paper, scissors and has to do the freestyle dance.

5. What is your favorite BTS song?

- ahh I struggle with this so much! It really depends on my mood. When I want to be hyped up I listen to Baepsae or BTS Cypher 4 or UGH!. I also love the Mic Drop remix with Steve Aoki and Idol. Blood, Sweat and Tears is a good one, too. And of course Dynamite and Butter because I can sing along to those for the whole song. So... yeeeaah, clearly I don’t really have a favorite lol

6. Which member appears in your dreams the most?

- I dream about them kind of frequently tbh, it’s a little worrisome hahaha. Umm, I think SUGA has shown up the most

7. What’s your favorite BTS music video?

- Save Me or Mic Drop!

8. Who’s solo song and/or mixtape do you like the most?

   - I love Epiphany so much. Jin holds a special place in my heart. I’m also obsessed with Daechwita and Yoongi’s D-2 mixtape in general.

   - Idol!

10. How long have you been an ARMY?

   - Not long... only 10 months! Where had they been all my life??

  - Love Yourself: Answer! So many classics on that album

  - Can all of them be an answer?? for real though. Jimin or Jungkook or Jin or j-hope. uhhhhh clearly I can’t decide LOL (and I have a friendship thing for the J line?)

   - Hmmm... probably Seokjin! He can cook, he and I have the same cheesy sense of humor, he seems pretty easy-going, he has a knack for fancier things but isn’t flashy about it, he’s goofy but serious/mature when he needs to be. idk, he just seems like he would be good husband material!

14. Which member makes you laugh the most?

    - omg all of them make me laugh. I’ve laughed so hard watching their videos that I’ve cried. It’s a great feeling haha. If I had to say one member, probably Jin or Namjoon. RM’s humor is so underrated.

15. Which episode of Run BTS! is your favorite?

   - I love episodes 83-85 called Summer Outing 1, 2 & 3 where they spend the day at a lake and participate in a bunch of water activites and then partake in a Manito game. I also love love love episodes 97 & 98 called Pajama Party omg Jungkook is adorable in those and they’re so hilarious. Honestly, I’ve made a whole list of my favorite Run episodes, maybe I will post it!

On AO3? 3. In general? 4 or 5 i think? I currently write for Glee and Marvel on my AO3 (there's also one Yuri On Ice fic) and I've previously written (and published) for Harry Potter on FF.Net. I do also have a few outlines/ideas for Merlin fics floating around my google docs but I've never posted any, and I used to write Twilight fics back in the day.

In A Previous Life with 77 kudos (Marvel published 2014) --A drabble of sorts. Billy and Tommy talk to Wanda about their life with her before they were reincarnated.

Putting a Punching Bag in the Workshop was Tony's Best Idea Ever with 64 kudos (Marvel published 2014) --Basically what it says on the tin. Stony. Tony is distracted by Steve's arse as he boxes.

Annoyingly these are all fics I'm not that proud of, but they're older so the kudos amounts make sense i guess 🙄 the next most Kudos'd is one I am proud of though - “You took EVERYTHING from me.” with 58 Kudos (2019) - Basically a little oneshot of what I thought could have happened in the 5 years everyone was dusted and how I thought they might have introduced Billy and Tommy into the MCU, it was going to create a whole 'verse but then we got confirmation on things like Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang and Spiderman Far From Home came out and I dropped the ideas. But I still like this fic.

do you respond to comments, why or why not?

most of the time, yes, though sometimes I leave them sitting for too long and then feel awkward about replying to them and i don't (*cough* most of my comments on WTNY(ibwfy) *cough*)

what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

probably In Paris With You which I'd forgotten about until scrolling through my fics! I wrote this, orginally, way back in like... 2011 based on a poem of the same name that got stuck in my head as i studied it for my English GCSE. but it's been updated and changed like 3 times since then.

Also my fic As long as I'm here as I am, so are you is rather angsty. Basically Kurt is listening to Ben Platt's album Sing to Me Instead and one song reminds him of Finn. (because it reminded me of them)

do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I've never written a crossover, though I think I once toyed around with some sort of Harry Potter crossover that never made the light of day, I can't remember what it was with though... maybe Merlin?

have you ever received hate on a fic?

not on AO3! But I did have someone call my OC in One More New Direction a Mary Sue on FF.net which wasn't nice, and someone else said they hated my characterisation of Mercedes in a chapter which was weird because Mercedes wasn't even in the chapter it was just my OC talking about her and her impression of her.

do you write smut? if so what kind?

I've tried, multiple times, in my 10+ years of fic writing, but i just can't do it. Maybe it's because I'm Asexual? it just always feels weird even after I've read smut as, like, revision. I feel like a lot of the characters are, like, ace by proxy because i don't know how to write characters being motivated by sex.

have you ever had a fic stolen?

have you ever co-written a fic before?

not that I remember? I vaguely remember being a Beta for someone like 10 years ago though.

what’s your all time favourite ship?

I honestly don't know! I've definately written mostly Klaine, but I'm such a multishipper that I have no clue. I'm really loving writing Hevans rn mostly because we are lacking Hevans content which is criminal. actually, fun fact, my fic Welcome To New York (it's been waiting for you) was originally going to be Klaine, but as i was writing the outline I fell back into the Hevans hole and decided to switch it up. I'm glad i did because it would have gotten nowhere as a Klaine fic!

what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

If i don't think I'll finish something I don't post it. I have a graveyard of fics half drafted.

what are your writing strengths?

I honestly don't know. I like writing dialogue and I know I'm good at portraying something with a small amount of words but you'll have to ask my readers 😊 (in fact, if you've read my stuff please let me know what you think my strengths are! I'm honestly curious!)

what are your writing weaknesses?

I'm terrible at stretching a scene into something bigger if it warrents it. Like i said I'm good at portraying something with few words but sometimes I feel like that throws the pacing off. I use a lot of paragraphs because of that, to make the reader pause and reflect until the next line or to show that the character is pausing and reflecting. idk man. I also hate writing dates, which is annoying because WYNY(ibwfy) is mostly dates. I've been on one in my life and it was shit so i have no idea how to write one lol.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I think that, unless you don't want the reader to know what is being said or the words used are obvious in context, that you should write it in english EG: --"Merci!" Kurt said.-- is fine but if you want to write something longer I would do something like --"hello my name is Kurt Hummel and I love scarfs" Kurt said in french-- or something, it depends on the context.

Actually, going back to In Paris With You. Kurt is french in that, and it's from Blaine's POV so when Kurt speaks french it's in french with Blaine translating what he can in the narration. He's not meant to be able to understand Kurt perfectly, so the audience doesn't either. But if I was writing, say, Kurt and Sebastian talking to each other in French from Kurt's POV I'd write it in english so that audience can also understand that Kurt understands.

what was the first fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. definately Harry Potter! It was how i got into fanfiction, and how i got into glee <3 JKR is a horrible person, but her books - and especially the fandom surrounding them - mean a lot to me.

what’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

I have no idea. I'm really liking my Love and Friendship series right now, and I love One More New Direction because it got me through - is getting me through - this crazy couple of years. so probably them? I also really love (that makes you) The Scarlet Witch which is kind of like a character analysis of Wanda that I wrote after watching WandaVision.

i dunno how much you know of Taylor swift’s songs but this was always my favourite as a kid, it sparked my wonderlust and it just feels like the start of a movie, like there are so many adventures out there waiting for me, I like to listen to it whenever I feel stuck in a rut to remember there’s always more left to come. the beats to 1989 are all just amazing though too, so pulsing.

god Eden is one of my favourite artists ever his style is just so AMAZING!! the whole album « I think I think too much » is brilliant but this is the one that I have been listening to the most at the moment (I actually made an edit to it in august lmao) and I just think the lyrics are so good (it is one of the best examples of my favourite genre of music: upbeat song that is sad as fuck) for example « if all we have is time we’ll be alright » « we’re running on fumes just to make it through the night »

Who's your favorite comedian? Sindhu Vee, probably. But that’s only counting the fact that I’ve only seen two of her skits. Out of all the acts I’ve seen, she’s the one who’s made me laugh the loudest so far, though.

Aren't you sick of all the *Are We Alike?* surveys? I’m not sick of them. I just think they’re too easy and fast to take so I like elaborating my answers so that I can still get a little ~reflective~ while taking that kind of survey.

Do you think there's anything you did better, when you were younger? Physical activities. I had a better stamina for jump roping and running when I was younger, and I was also a lot more flexible; I used to be able to bend all the way backwards and also have my toes reach my head while on my stomach.

Would you take the advice you give others? I usually don’t. I find that I’m better at giving advice than actually following through with them.

What did you have for lunch yesterday? I just had my leftover sushi. I didn’t want to eat all 24 that I ordered from the other night in one go, so I saved a little more than half of it for yesterday.

Are you spoiled? Only when it’s deserved. My parents have stopped buying things for me since I now earn for myself, but back when I was younger I will say I was the most pampered out of us siblings. That said, I still made sure I worked hard for whatever it is I was asking from them, like promising them straight As for a quarter or semester in class.

What room of your house do you spend the most time in? My own. I’m back to working there again since I’ve started to find the dining room noisy.

Do you ever have any problems just *moving on*? At first, because I hate change and try to resist it as much as I can. Assessing myself in the last few months though, it looks like I’m much better at moving on with my life as I thought.

Do you collect anything? I collect BTS merch now...my collection is gradually getting bigger hahaha. I currently have all 7 of their Cold Brew Lattes, then I recently placed an order for their most recent album. Once I finish all the coffee I’ll move on to the Hot Brew ones, then I plan to buy 1-2 albums per month until I complete my collection, then move on to the DVDs, magazines, and other novelty merch. ZERO REGRETS

If you saw a shooting star, what would you wish on it? Sustained happiness.

Do you like rollercoasters? I’ve never ridden one and I don’t plan to.

What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for someone else? Get them a customized locket/necklace. Either that or make a video compiling greetings and photos with friends when I had no clue how to edit videos and had to learn from scratch.

How do you celebrate Halloween? I don’t strictly observe it, but when I do it’s usually because someone else organizes a party for it. Last year my company had a Halloween party, then the year before that Rita’s sister invited us to their college party, etc.

What are your answers to those 20 questions? Im planning to add my own answers too (even though nobody asked lol)

I got another ask for some of the numbers but I’m just gonna do this one because it’s all of them.

1) Favorite character? Jonathan, hands down. He’s so underrated. I love him with all my heart.

2) Favorite season? Even though I love Season 1 and the amount of thought that was actually put into the writing, I’m gonna say Season 2 because I really loved that season and a lot of amazing things happened in that season (mostly the Jancy kiss lol but other things too)

3) Favorite scene? Oof that’s a hard one. I really like the exorcism scene from S2 with Joyce, Jonathan, Nancy and Will (Noah Schnapp did amazing, all of the actors in this scene were phenomenal, Winona, Charlie, and Natalia and especially Noah). I also obviously love the Jancy first kiss, and how passionate it is (and scene directly before and morning after scene lol).

4) Favorite 80s song from the album? Even though it was used for Stancy (sigh), I am a sucker for Africa, I’ve loved that song since before Stranger Things. But I also love Should I Stay Or Should I Go and how significant it is to the show.

5) Favorite ship? I think it’s obvious to anyone who’s seen my blog lol, Jancy obviously. And it’s canon so there’s that.

6) Favorite outfit? Oh gosh, literally any of Jonathan’s sweaters cuz he looks so cute in them. I also really liked Joyce’s S3 look, she was a cutie. And I liked Nancy’s dresses in S3, they were cute. I like a lot of the outfits tbh (Max always has cute outfits, and El in S3).

7) Favorite antagonist? Can I say just Hawkins Lab in general? I miss S1 and S2 when you never knew what the Lab was gonna do next, it made for a good antagonist. The Russians didn’t seem all that mysterious tbh.

8) Scoops Troop, Griswold Family, or Eagle’s Nest? Griswold Family for sure! Jancy and the kids will always be superior! I wish they got more screentime, especially after the hospital scene. I also wish the siblings actually acknowledged each other.

9) Who’s your favorite actor? Charlie!! I mean, all of the actors are amazing, but I’m starting to really appreciate Charlie Heaton. For one thing, I love British boys, and for another, I just think he’s a phenomenal actor and he’s really good at showing his emotions. I wish the writers gave him more to work with.

10) Most badass Hawkins lady? Oh dang, that’d have to be a tie between Joyce and Nancy. I just love how Joyce would do anything for her kids, including go into an unknown dimension with the possibility of being Demogorgon lunch. Also, when she punched the mayor, gosh, that was amazing. And Nancy, when she stood in front of the car and just shot at Billy when he was racing towards her, I was so proud (and also scared for Nancy’s life). And “Let’s burn that lab to the ground”, I love her, she’s such a badass.

11) Favorite mom? (By the way person who made the questions, Steve’s not a mom!) I love Joyce! She is the World’s Greatest Mom™️! Sure, she has some problems, but she would literally do anything for her kids and I love that! Also, she’s so chill, like Jonathan had a girl over and she totally knew and didn’t care! My mom would literally kill me lol. I love Joyce.

12) Saddest scene? Oh gosh that’s hard. Bob dying was really sad to me, but I actually genuinely cried at the S3 ending. Not because of Hopper’s letter but because the Byers are moving! Like I get why but it’s still so sad seeing everyone say goodbye to each other, like come on Joyce, look how sad they all are :(

13) Any merch? So, because I’m fairly new to this fandom, I don’t have much. I seriously watched the whole show for the first time in April because quarantine and my friend wanted me to watch it, so I did, I’ve binged it at least 4 times though already during quarantine. However, since I recently graduated from high school and was given a lot of graduation money that I had no idea what to spend on (yes, I set some aside for college), I bought some merch. I bought a S3 poster from Walmart. I bought a Steve Funko online. For my birthday, which was in June, my friend gave me a Scoops Ahoy shirt and pin. My boyfriend gave me a Robin Funko (he said he was gonna get me Jonathan but they didn’t have anymore of his 1 single Funko, rip). And then my sister and I went to Hot Topic and I got two shirts, one that just has the Stranger Things logo and the other has the Griswold Family on it (seriously, I saw Nancy and Jonathan on it and I screamed). That’s it. Oh, and then my sister gave me some Stranger Things decals for my birthday which I put on my laptop. And then my sister’s friend gave me a sticker with Robin on it, and that’s on the back of my phone. That’s it. That’s all the merch.

14) Favorite line? I’m sorry but my favorite line will forever be, “So, Jonathan, how was the pull-out?”. That line is literally the most clever innuendo I have ever heard. And I love Jonathan’s reaction to it. And Nancy’s little smirk. I may be pretty innocent, but I understood that line the second I heard it. And I love that it’s for Jancy. If it was for any other couple, I might not have laughed as hard as I did, but it was still hilarious, imo.

15) Contributed to the fandom? Again, I’m pretty new to the fandom. I did write a fanfic, but it never got posted because my computer decided to delete it for some reason. I’m not good at art, so no on that. I did make a Tik Tok though. You can check it out, my name is @camree_nicole. The Tik Tok literally blew up (like seriously most of my videos only get like 20 likes by my irl friends, but this one got 12K likes, it was crazy!), like I gained a lot of Stranger Things fan page followers. What was the Tik Tok? I literally made it because I was procrastinating my online school (back when I was still doing that) and it’s literally about how whenever I’m binging Stranger Things and get to S2:E6, I get really excited and I showed the scene of Nancy and Jonathan about to kiss. I got a lot of comments like “Yesss I was so happy!” and stuff like that and it made me really happy lol.

16) Favorite fan theory? Idk, there’s some pretty crazy theories out there. I don’t really look at many theories, I just like seeing what some people theorize for S4. I especially like @unpredictablybittersweet’s S4 theories here on Tumblr. And GemmaStones on Reddit has some theories I really like too.

17) Favorite filming location? The Byers house!! I’m gonna miss that place :’( Lots of iconic stuff has happened there. Still bitter we didn’t get much of it in S3.

18) Read any books or comics? Again, I’m pretty new, so no I have not. I’ve heard what happens in some of them online though.

19) Favorite duo? My fave duo will forever be Nancy and Jonathan. Whether it’s platonic or romantic, when they get together they do some pretty badass things.

When did you first get into BTS?: I had to dig up the tweet from my personal twitter, but circa early August 2019.

Why or/and how did you get into BTS?: Soo I don’t really listen to pop (or hip hop) music, or I didn’t at the time when I discovered BTS. I suppose the closest thing I had in my music library was a PSY album, which was a bit of an anomaly. I was streaming probably weird music at work and a particular short YouTube ad caught my ear a few times. The beat was catchy and the synth sounded cool so I finally tabbed over to see what the ad was. Surprise, it was BTS! (It may have been an ad for Bring the Soul? Honestly idk anymore.) But I didn’t know which song the clip was from, so then I fell down a rabbit hole trying to find it. I found a handful of songs I enjoyed along the way before identifying DNA... and I just kept listening. I really feel that I found them when I needed them most: something new, revitalizing, comforting, and inspiring to remind me why I love music and music-making.

First BTS song: I don’t know if I can count DNA since it took me awhile to identify the full song. But the Steve Aoki remix of MIC Drop is probably the most responsible for keeping me listening in the beginning. As soon as I saw the music video, I was hooked (and weirdly, extremely obsessed with the hard panning at a couple moments in the song--still am) and wanted to learn more about the members. 

Favorite BTS song: According to this recent tag game, Spring Day... and as much as I have a hard time picking favorites (see also: bias list), my instinct agrees.

First official comeback: Map of the Soul: 7!

Favorite era: Wings. Wings. Wings. (Or You Never Walk Alone, I guess, if that would be the correct way to also include Spring Day. Honestly this whole era thing is a little murky to me pfff. Did I mention that I don’t listen to much pop music??)

Bias wrecker(s): I don’t really do this wreck it ralph thing, I love them all equally so they’re all my bias! But I listed them above in the order that they became my bias. ♡ Jungkook was first thanks to one very specific expression he makes in the MIC Drop MV, Jimin joined immediately after I figured out who was who in the vocal parts, Taehyung tagged in eventually once I discovered more of his absolutely stunning bari lines, and Yoongi shouldered in a few months later when he aggressively convinced me that I can, in fact, enjoy rapping.

Do you own any merch?: Some! By far the most meaningful purchase ended up being my first order for both the Love Yourself New York show and Notes 1. I threw in the Notes a bit on a whim because they had a promotional sale if I got both... and you could say that has had a lasting effect on me. I was also SUPER EXCITED when I got my hands on an unopened Wings Tour in Seoul. I have a handful of newer albums and video sets. Long term, I am interested in trying to collect all of the albums with accompanying Notes, even if I don’t know Korean. May have purchased all 4 MOTS:7 versions because I am an idiot and thought they would come with English translations womp. And I have one unofficial Love Yourself sweatshirt that I am very fond of.

What member would you say you are most like?: According to this very official bingo game, a tie between Yoongi and Namjoon.

Favorite BTS lyrics: Black Swan hits a little too close to home. I love Mikrokosmos for its comfort, and the poetry in songs like The Truth Untold and Sea or lines like “I grew a flower that can’t be bloomed in a dream that can’t come true.”

Favorite music video: Eep probably Blood Sweat & Tears (Korean) with Fake Love Extended Ver. as a close second? Wait, I love Spring Day too. Help.

1. What kinds of genres of music do you listen to? >> It’d be easier to name the genres I don’t listen to...

2. Are there any types of music that you don’t listen to at all? >> ...which would be bluegrass, polka, uh... noise... K-pop... yeah, that’s all I got right now. Honestly, K-pop is probably only here because I just haven’t gone to check out any songs, not because I actively don’t like the genre.

3. Do you own any band tees? >> Yeah, most of my t-shirts are band shirts.

4. Name some of your favorite male solo artists. >> Eddie Vedder, David Bowie, Steve Vai, Orville Peck, Sam Cooke.

5. Name some of your favorite female solo artists. >> Elle King, Sia, Beyoncé, Anita Baker, Céline Dion.

6. Name some of your favorite boy-bands. >> Okay, so are we talking boy bands, like Backstreet Boys and One Direction, or just bands with dudes in them? Because I don’t really listen to boy bands anymore (aside from songs that I remember from childhood), so.

7. Name some of your favorite all-girl bands. >> Hmm... I’m not sure I listen to any all-female bands. There’s some female-fronted bands in my library, but the rest of the members are dudes.

8. Name some of your favorite bands/groups in general. >> Oof. Here’s five: Zeal & Ardor, Coheed & Cambria, Pearl Jam, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Volbeat.

9. Do you sing in the shower? >> Sometimes, if a song I know the lyrics to is playing. I listen to music every time I shower, it helps distract my hell brain.

10. Do you sing along with the radio in the car? >> I don’t sing along in the car because Sparrow has a thing about people singing.

Do you listen to music while you are cooking, filling out surveys, or cleaning the house? >> Sometimes I listen to music while taking surveys, but I don’t do it often because I find it too distracting. I do listen to music while cleaning, or taking walks, or doing any other task that mostly involves my body more than my brain.

12. What’s the name of the song that you’re listening to right now, if any? What’s the name of the band/singer? >> I’m not listening to music.

13. What kinds of music do your parents listen to? Do you think that their music taste differs greatly? Whose music taste is better, in your opinion? >> I grew up listening to soul, R&B, gospel, that sort of thing. I still listen to that stuff because I enjoy it.

14. Do you ever listen to music without any words? >> Sure.

15. Are there any famous musicians that you’ve met? Are there any that you would like to meet? >> Yeah, I’ve met uhh... Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed & Cambria, and Sevendust multiple times, as well as Halestorm, Steve Vai, three-quarters of Volbeat (lead singer wasn’t feeling great so he left the venue early)... yeah, I think that’s it. I used to be really into that kind of thing, but I’m largely over it now; I actually think it would be cool to see Sparrow meet Hozier, because she’s not had that experience.

16. What was the first concert you’ve been to, if any? How about the last/most recent? Which, out of all of the concerts you’ve attended, was the best? >> First concert was Avenged Sevenfold and Coheed & Cambria (co-headliner tour), in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in April 2006. The last concert I went to was Hozier here in Grand Rapids, last year sometime. I think it was last year. :x My time sense is all fucked up. Anyway, I’ve been to way too many concerts to start naming one as the best one ever, that’s crazy. Most of the shows I’ve been to were awesome as fuck (there were a couple ehhhh... ones, and then there was one I was way too high to enjoy lmao, but usually I have a great time).

17. Do you have a favorite movie soundtrack? What is it? >> I have a favourite movie soundtrack composer, actually, and that’s Clint Mansell. Everything he does is just... AAAAAAAAA for me. I can always tell when he’s done a score because I can just feel the music in my bones, and then I look at the credits and I’m like “OH OF COURSE IT WAS YOU.”

18. Would you want to be a band groupie? Why or why not? >> I had a phase way back when where I was obsessed with groupie culture (from like the late sixties through the eighties) and if you’d asked me then, I’d have said yes. I’ve wised up by now and I definitely would not want that.

19. What is a band/singer you would like to see but haven’t gotten a chance to yet? >> Yeah, there’s a lot of bands and singers like that. But I’d have to be really picky nowadays about who I went to see, because I just can’t deal with most concert environments as well as I used to anymore.

20. Do you care more about the beat of the music you listen to, or the lyrics? >> I mean, when it comes to the first listen, it’s going to be the melody that catches me. If that doesn’t happen, then I’m not even going to bother looking at the lyrics, so...

21. Does anyone in one of your favorite bands play an unusual instrument? >> I listen to some prog bands, so there’s definitely some unusual instruments happening in at least some songs.

22. What are some of the songs that you listen to the most frequently? >> I don’t know, probably Master Boot Record and Zeal & Ardor tracks. I’m a bit obsessed right now.

23. Could you make a playlist of songs that describes your life? What kinds of playlists do you have made? >> I don’t think so. I’ve definitely tried in the past, but when you really start thinking about the vast array of experiences and feelings that make up a life, it becomes fuckin impossible.

24. Do you remember listening to music on CDs and cassettes, not just on the internet? >> Yeah. Definitely don’t miss it, gotta say.

25. What kind of music device do you use in order to listen to music? (iPod, MP3 Player, etc.) >> I use my phone or computer, with Spotify.

27. Would you ever consider a career in music? >> No. I love music, but as a consumer.

28. What is a song that would describe your current mood? Who is it by? >> I’m not really in any kind of mood. If you know a song about being vaguely tired, then that’s it.

29. Are there any musicians of the past that you really admire? >> Well, sure...

30. Do you listen to Top 40 type music? >> I don’t even know what’s on the Top 40, so... maybe? Probably not, though, I haven’t really gotten into any mainstream-popular artists recently that I can think of.

31. What musical instrument would you like to learn how to play? Have you ever played an instrument before/taken lessons? What was it? >> I don’t really care to learn any instruments. It’s not something I feel passionate about, not like how I feel about listening to music. I’ve taken bass guitar lessons before, in like... 2008 or so? IDK. Years are fake.

32. Do you enjoy watching musicals on DVD or sitting through them as plays? Which method do you prefer, and which is your favorite? >> I would love to watch musicals live, but I definitely cannot afford it. I’m fine watching recordings of them (or movie adaptations, in some cases). My favourite stage musical is Phantom of the Opera (I say “stage musical” because I also have a favourite movie musical, and that’s Repo! the Genetic Opera).

33. What was the worst concert you’ve ever attended before, and what made it the worst? >> Taste of Chaos at Nassau Coliseum. It was the worst because arena shows are just the worst, period. I was right up in front (my friends and I camped out overnight) and I just got repeatedly slammed against the barricade and crowd-surfers landed on my head multiple times, et cetera. I’m surprised I didn’t leave with actual injuries (was wondering if I was gonna need a neck brace by the end), but I did feel pretty damn shitty the next day.

34. Have you ever crowd-surfed during a show or been a part of a mosh pit? >> Nope.

35. Have you ever gotten into an altercation with a drunken concert fan before? What happened? >> Nah, everyone I’ve met at shows have been pretty cool, if not downright awesome. That’s one thing I always loved about going to concerts, I seemed to make new friends every time.

36. Have you ever dated someone who was a musician? >> No, but I’ve fucked a few.

37. What are some of your favorite music videos to watch? >> Oh, man, it’s getting late and while I could go ham on this question, I don’t have the time right now lol. I’ll just say that I love nineties-era music videos, and some from the aughts as well. I feel like those were the best years for music videos, but that might just be nostalgia (and the fact that I haven’t really seen as many videos from the 2010s). As far as recent artists are concerned, I think Orville Peck makes really evocative and moody (not necessarily moody like pensive or depressive. mood-y. mood-evoking) videos that I appreciate.

38. Have you ever made a lyric video on YouTube? >> No.

39. Have you ever recorded a cover song and posted it? What kind of feedback did you receive? >> No.

40. Is there an album cover design that you really admire? >> I’ve seen so many excellent album covers, I couldn’t even begin to address this.

41. What are some of the most overplayed songs right now, in your opinion? >> I wouldn’t know, I don’t listen to radio or anything.

45. What’s the name of a band/singer that you recently have discovered? >> Dreamcar (yet another Davey Havok side project, because he just can’t be tamed, apparently).
