So @riversidecryptid came in my DMs and made me think about this au again. How dare you by the way. Originally, we were thinking Kyurem Black for Shadow Milk, but then I was like, okay, but what if Zoroark? Then I went to design him as a Zoroark and realized Hisuian Zoroark exists. It all went uphill from there.

Pokédex Update:

Auroreon - the Iridescent Feather pokemon. A flying type. When it fans its wings and tail, it can manifest beautiful yet powerful beams of light in concentrated attacks and healing moves. If it ever opens its eyes, it will unleash its wrath on the unjust.

Notes:

- Auroreon's feathers always seem to glimmer in the light, causing even its body to give off a faint prismatic glow. They are also sturdy, soft as cinccino velvet, and capable of keeping sheltered pokemon warm. If the weather and conditions are right, Auroreon will spread its feathers over the grass and sunbathe (or moonbathe at night). This makes the moisture in the air above it become a captivating blanket of shifting colors. The shiny variation of this pokemon is said to also manifest colors of light that very few humans are able to see.

- The 'eye spots' on Auroreon's feathers serve as a natural statement of beauty as well as a means of confusing opponents. And the halo above its head is a result of the fur's natural light refraction.

From Recovered Texts and Documents:

- Long ago, a king encouraged the use of these feathers for decorative purposes during his reign. This greatly decimated the population of both eevee and Auroreon in their region. Those with dark feathers were considered "impure" and hunted for sport. A few were kept as pets and servants, which was illegal save for those with the king's written permission.

- Some groups of the past believed Auroreon to be among the pokemon known as "the Heralds of Arceus", messengers and light-bearers who served the Creator of Worlds. There were a variety of pokemon believed to hold this title, each described as "familiar yet unique" to each respective species. They were more powerful than their counterparts, and some rarely spotted if not considered an illusion. They were also quite gentle and well-mannered, and their roles involved giving life and healing to the world. However, these pokemon were considered dangerous in times of conflict.

- It is said "the false king" of their home region was single-handedly responsible for the disappearance of the Heralds, the beginning of conflict between humans and Arceus, and the terrible aftermath of the last great war. Rumors spread that Arceus removed the Heralds from the world of humans to save those pokemon from the cruelty that would follow in coming years.

Notes Continued:

- Further research is being conducted, as a single pair of Auroreon were recently spotted in an isolated area with an unusual eevee. One white, and one dark. The gender of each is unknown, though ancient texts suggest that females have shorter capes than males.

- There is no documentation of what their open eyes look like. Texts only say that no one who saw them directly lived to tell the tale, including the false king.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and glad I had another chance to delve into more of the comic's background lore.

i've never liked how pokemon always looked the same except for some cases in the anime where they needed characters to not get confused. like realistically wouldn't they have a slight variety of patterns, hues, eye colors, fluff levels??

anyway i decided to make edits of the eeveelutions because this was bothering me. i also wrote headcanons i have about them so here it is

eevee's can come in darker or lighter shades of brown, and have a variety of cream and/or dark brown markings including spots, stripes, and points. some species of eevee have cream tufts of fur in their ears. the length and thickness of their fur can vary depending on their climate. they can also have lop ears. depending on what they evolve into, all of these traits can carry over into their eeveelution.

vaporeons may have a dorsal fin on its tail depending on its species and where its from. certain climates require faster or easier turns in the water, which results in them evolving this additional fin. they may also have fins on their forearms and legs. despite them being sort of blubber-y, vaporeons can appear fluffier if they are from a colder environment. of all patterns, they most often have spots and stripes like a tiger shark. they can have purple, pink, or blue eyes. when a lop eared eevee evolves into a vaporeon, their ear-like fins are lower.

like the domestic cats that they resemble, espeons have a wide variety of purple hues and patterns. they also have many different shapes of forehead gems, sometimes even being a heart. people speculate horoscopes for the shape of an espeons forehead gem in relation to their personalities, but none of it is professor oak approved. their tail can be split at diffurent points from the base of the tail to the very end of it. on rare occasions, an espeon will have two tails or one tail that is ever so slightly split at the end. an espeons eyes can be purple, pink, or blue. when a lop eared eevee evolves into espeon, it is not very noticeable as espeons ears are more cat-like as compared to the rest of the eeveelutions.

flareons can grow a lot of head fur, which is fun to cut into different haircuts. in the wild, a flareon will simply burn the extra hair off if it gets too long. (unsure of this since that would mean it is not fireproof, but whatever) they can have lots of patterns as well, especially point patterns and stripes. their orange and yellow coat can vary in darkness and hue as well, and although blue is most common, their eyes can be lots of different colors.

umbreons have the longest canines of all the eeveelutions, and sometimes they can be big enough to poke out from their mouths when closed. an umbreons rings also vary a lot, and can be anywhere on their bodies as long as they are symmetrical. they can also sometimes have freckles in the same color as their rings. even though they are black, they can have patterns that are visible in the light, including stripes, spots and points. their eyes can be red, brown, orange, or pink. umbreons sometimes grow a hyena-like mane along its head and back.

sylveons can have any number of bows on any part of their bodies, though the most typical places are at the base of the tail, the front or back of the neck, the ears, and the top of the head. multiple ribbons can grow from a sylveon's bow, and they can be all kinds of lengths at rest. the ribbon colors of pink, blue and cyan can be in any different order. they can have pink markings including stripes, spots and points. a sylveons widows peak can dip very low or not at all. their eyes can be blue, pink or purple.

jolteons can sometimes have longer tails depending on their species. the size of the spines on their back also varies a lot, and they can grow as the jolteon gets older. they most often have orange stripes, but can also have spots and points. they will have white markings sometimes, too. sometimes they have markings in the shape of a lightning bolt. a jolteons eyes can be purple, pink, or red.

leafeons can grow lots of sprouts all over their bodies, and will usually have more the older they get. they can also grow flowers of many kinds, which will bloom and wilt with the seasons like normal. it doesn't hurt the leafeon to pick their flowers or trim their leaves, but it is reccommended to leave their sprouts alone unless they get excessively long as they help the leafeon photosynthesize. spots of brown or light greenish colors can appear on a leafeons leaves. they can also have stripes, spots, or points. they can have any shade of brown or green eyes, as well as blue on rare occassions.

lastly, glaceons vary a lot in their fur thickness depending on the fur it inherits from its eevee form. they don't require long fur as they don't need to stay warm, so its really only a vestigal leftover trait from needing to stay warm when it was an eevee. a glaceons "bangs" can be diffurent in shape and size. the same hard, thick ice that they are made from can sometimes appear on other parts of glaceons body, clinging to its fur like makeshift armor. if the ice is broken it does not hurt the glaceon. they too can have all kinds of patterns, including stripes, spots and points. they will often have diamond shaped patterns. their eyes can only be blue or brown.

Espurr Facts

-The scientific name for Espurr is "Felis restricta" which roughly translates to "Restricted cat"

-Espurr are felines, and their closest relatives are Meowth and Skitty. They are also related to eevee, as Eevee is both a feline and a canine

-While meowstic are omnivores and use their psychic powers to hunt small prey, Espurr are strictly herbivores as they want to avoid most conflict (unless their mother brings an already dead pokemon to them. Then they'll eat it)

-Espurr is one of the few psychic type pokemon who have their psychic organs located outside of their brain. Solosis is another one of these pokemon

-Espurr walk on their toes, but since they make themselves float to get around, there really isn't much of a benefit to this. It's instead most likely a leftover trait from other felines

-One reason Espurr are so powerful is because their psycoptical lobe is a lot larger than the average psychic type of their size

-Espurr's eyes are already very moist, which is why they don't blink much. It's like a baby's eyes

-Because of their psychic abilities, Espurr are known for getting a lot of migrains. Their not as frequent or intense as Psyduck's migrains, but it can still be pretty painful for them. They have medicine to treat it.

-Their ears also can hurt from their psychic energy. But, they make special ear drops for Espurr that can help the pain stop. You don't have to fully open their ears to put in on; just moving it slightly to place drops is enough

-Male espurr are calmer than female espurr and are recommended as better Housemon. Female espurr are more aggressive and are more often used for battling

-When kittens, Espurr struggle to control their powers a lot more. Just one lift can result in a psychic blast. Please be careful when handling newly hatched espurr

-The psychic organs under Espurr and Meowstic's ears are called Oculobes, referring to their eye-lime structure

-Even when asleep, most Espurr will keep their eyes open

-Espurr might lose control over their powers when they sleep. Because of this, Espurr will sleep in short bursts throughout the day. This is completely normal for them, but if you're worried that your Espurr isn't getting enough sleep, please take your Espurr to the vet

-Most cats use their tails to keep them balanced when walking. Espurr don't have long tails because they often make themselves float long distances and walk short distances. Meowstic gain tails as they walk more

Reader, a who's a Kimono dancer (like from the Johto in Pokemon) but also miko/guardian of the Bell Tower or Ho-oh's

She had close (familial-like) relationship to others, including her fellow dancers, pokemon & also Ho-oh

Has a timid but also sweet has quiet confidence. Or the opposite of Apollo

You can also add that Reader's a human fighter in Ragnarok or not

-Apollo knew that there were many beautiful Pokemon in the world, including several strong ones, Pokemon that could handle themselves in almost any situation.

-That all changed when he beheld a truly beautiful work of art, a massive bird Pokemon flying across the skies, a rainbow coming from the tail that seemed to shimmer with diamonds as well.

-Apollo had been outside by his pool, reading, when he had heard the call and looked up to see this beauty, and instantly he knew he had to meet this legendary creature.

-It wasn’t hard to track, he just had to follow the rainbow, and it led him over into the Shinto Pantheon, a place he visited occasionally mainly for the strange but beautiful architecture.

-In the distance he saw this Pokemon land atop a massive tower, calling out before it descended, like it was going to the ground and Apollo was quickly rushing there.

-As Apollo grew closer, he heard the sound of a bell, but it was like any bell he had ever heard. He quickly ascended the stairs to this odd tower and before him was an even more beautiful sight.

-This Pokemon was sitting on the ground, cooing softly at a young maiden- you, who was dancing gracefully, wearing a beautiful kimono, holding a bell in your hand.

-There was other similarly dressed women around the stage you were performing on, watching you with fondness in their gaze, their Eevee evolution partners beside them as a crowd of people were watching, completely silent- in awe.

-Apollo was also silent, watching your display with unwavering awe, you were so beautiful, so graceful and delicate- even the massive legendary behind you was entranced by your dancing.

-You turned sharply, facing the crowd, one hand holding your kimono sleeve up while the other was up, holding the bell, which you rang once more, before you bowed deeply.

-Loud applause surprised you, making you flinch back only slightly, something your fellow dancers saw, making them smile as they knew how shy you were.

-Ho-Oh called out happily, joining in before Apollo approached, and many in attendance knew who he was, calling out his name in surprise.

-Many of the other dancers turned, surprised to see a god there, at least a god from another pantheon, but they bowed to him, greeting him and welcoming him to the Bell Tower, resting place of the legendary Ho-Oh.

-Apollo was polite, giving dazzling smiles to those around him, “Ho-Oh- so that is the name of this glorious creature!” as he said he ascended the stage to get closer to Ho-Oh and you gave a small bow- showing him that you were shy.

He couldn’t help but smile, thinking you were even lovelier up close, “And may I know the name of this beautiful creature?” as he said this he bowed at the waist, taking one of your hands in his own, pecking the back of it.

-Your face flushed red as a tiny squeak escaped your lips, surprised by his forwardness which made his smile grow more before you managed to speak, “Y/N- my name is Y/N.” he smiled, pecking your hand again, delighted to meet you.

-Ho-Oh called out and you both turned to him as he stretched his wings out before taking to the sky, causing a gust of wind to surround the stage. You lifted your arm to shield your face only to freeze as Apollo embraced you, pulling you into his arms, protecting you.

-You weren’t hurt but you were stunned by his actions, as were your fellow dancers who had their hands over their mouth in shock, feeling slightly giddy on seeing something so romantic.

-Ho-Oh called out in the sky, taking off again, leaving a rainbow behind, something that made you smile softly.

-Apollo pulled back from you, giving you a bright smile, apologizing for being so forward but he was amused by your flushed face as you thanked him, not meeting his intense gaze.

-You were perfect- you were so stunningly beautiful, but also elegant and soft- so shy, so pure, and you were the one who called Ho-Oh- the vision of beauty that brought Apollo to your side, as if you were calling him yourself.

-Apollo wanted you to stay by his side- he would keep you safe and keep you happy, you would never want for anything if you would only be his!

-He wanted you to feel the same, he was going to make you fall in love with him! He would keep all other suitors away from you, as you were meant for only him, and when you realized how happy you were by his side, then he would whisk you away to covert you for all eternity.

-He was patient- for you- only for you.

I heard Alolan Raichus are actually excellent pets due to their easy to manage size, their calm demeanors and pleasant odors, they may have as much voltage as their Kanto cousins but with the right care and handling it's not as much of a problem.

Unfortunately, we don’t have as much data about the Alolan variant compared to the standard garden-variety raichu, but from the data we do have it seems that they may, in fact, be a better option comparatively. However, their powerful move set as an evolved Electric-Type pokémon drags their score down a bit. I can’t recommend an Alolan raichu to just any owner, but someone very dedicated and not-so-risk-adverse may be able to successfully keep one in their care.

Alolan raichus are actually a little smaller than the more common variant, which already was well within house-pet size. Alolan raichus stand at just over four feet tall, and weigh less than fifty pounds, so getting one around won’t be any problem and they’ll be comfortable in pretty much any home. This particular variant of the species likes to float around on their tail using their telekinetic powers (Moon), making them particularly mobile in any environment.

That said, it does seem that there may be environments in which Alolan raichus are better suited for biologically. Researchers believe that this particular variant of raichus’ evolution has been impacted by the “weather, climate, and food” of their native Alola region (Sword). In modern times, a particular Alolan pancake recipe is thought to play a part, considering Alolan raichus’ affinity for it (Let’s Go Pikachu/Let’s Go Eevee). None of this implies that an Alolan raichu needs to live in a specifically Alolan environment, as trainers have had success with them in as disparate regions as Kanto and Galar, but it does indicate an affinity for warm, tropical weather that you may want to keep in mind. At the very least, if you live somewhere cold, you’ll want to make sure to provide your Alolan raichu with a warm enough space to be comfortable. Learning the recipe for those famous Alolan pancakes can’t hurt, either.

The biggest setback when it comes to garden-variety raichus (as was discussed in their post, linked at the bottom of this one) was their need to discharge the electricity that builds up in their bodies, which posed a significant safety hazard that we had to contend with in our evaluation. Alolan raichus, by contrast, don’t seem to have the same problem. Sure, as Electric-Type pokémon, they do utilize electricity in their attacks, but they seem to exert much more control over it. The pokédex explains that Alolan raichus use the same psychokinetic powers that they use to levitate to “control electricity” (Moon), while making no mention of any need to constantly discharge it, as with most raichus. Common raichus also had the significant problem of causing paralysis by touch, whereas Alolan raichus lack the Static ability: touching one won’t do much more that giving you a “light shock” and a sweet smell (Ultra Moon). Living alongside an Alolan raichu seems to be, by all means, a far safer option.

Of course, as I mentioned earlier, Alolan raichus can be quite dangerous if they want to. Moves like Thunder Punch, Thunder, and Thunderbolt pose huge threats to humans. While, like common raichus, Alolan raichus aren’t known to be particularly aggressive, accidents do happen, so we need to consider their quite considerable repertoire of moves. If you adopt an Alolan raichu, you will need to be very careful with them, especially when playing, to avoid this risk to your safety.

Overall, though we don’t have a lot of information about this rare regional variant, a comparison with the more common variant reveals that an Alolan raichu is a much safer option for most pet owners. However, their environmental needs and dangerous capabilities bring down their score a bit. I can’t recommend an Alolan raichu to just anyone, but a careful, considerate owner may be able to find success with one, especially if they live in a suitable environment.

Okay I’m still obsessed with Pokémon: Legends Arceus and I am so very very in love with Adaman and the Diamond and Pearl Clans and Irida and Adaman

I wanted to redesign Adaman’s Leafeon to be more like him because of the whole “Eevee can begin to resemble their trainers stuff” but I more so just made a Leafeon more adapted to the Mirelands where the Diamond Clan live

So I made a cooler-toned Leafeon to match with Adaman’s blue hair and pronouns and gave it a sootfoot root to replace its leafy tail

Also gave it Adaman’s brown eyes and made its head leaf swoop down like that one strand of hair Adaman has

I like it but I’m definitely not at all accustomed to a more Pokémon art style and will definitely be experimenting on how to adapt it more to my style

Uh yeah probably expect more Pokémon: LA stuff, I’m replaying the game and can feel the hyper fixation setting in

Does Ribbons ever get dysphoric? Or did she?

Like, holding out her paws and expecting to see hands, feeling wrong being on fours instead of twos, getting startled by her own tail, not expecting one to be there... did it take her time to adjust?

Does she ever get the urge to search for other humans—the worry that she wouldn't be recognized if she did? One of the last of a species, turned into something else instead.

Or is she fine the way she is—that this body was *made* for her, it feels *right.* That she doesn't need to find other humans because she already *has* her people, her friends, her home

Just thinking how she might feel about her former humanity.

I feel so bad for not answering this sooner because it is SUCH a fun ask.

Ribbons would feel so happy and in her element with her Eevee and Sylveon bodies. Just snuggling up to her fluffy tail as night for insulation, the ability to run freely and for so long without breaking a sweat. Curling her feelers around Dusknoir’s fingers and/or Aimilios’s paw as they walked through Treasure town… Being able to read their emotions simultaneously to know how they were doing immediately without ever having to ask. And on top of that; being able to purr and groom Pokémon she cares about deeply. Everything about it felt right. She’d never want to go back to being a human once she changes.

Even before, with Grovyle, Dusclops, and Celebi. She’d always felt like she didn’t belong/the obvious odd one out. Spending some days in the paralyzed future just on her haybed. Unmoving. Ironically this is the one time Darkrai ended up helping her.

(Also not me thinking about her potentially running into some fuckass artifact that turned her back into a human. Godd she would be scratching her skin/clenching her teeth/shaking so much. Probably needing Grovyle or Dusknoir to stop her from hurting herself. But until they found a way to turn her back, Aimilios is the one that’s by her side 24/7.)

Australian Pokemon - new evolutions

Another set of my Fakemon designed for my original Goorda Region based on a combination of Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand. This time I'm designing new evolutions for older Pokemon, plus a bonus convergent line. Links to previous entries below.

Factortry, the Industry Pokemon, fire/steel type, an evolution of Torkoal. It started eating metal as well as coal and its internal heat melted the metal into slag. The slag has started covering its shell, increasing its defense, but the smoke it releases is toxic. During the industrial revolution, Factortry were used for metal refining, but the practice was banned after it produced too much pollution.

Factortry is based on a coal-burning refinery and industrial age factories, with all the pollution that came with them. Industrial pollution has been reduced thanks to regulations, such as the ones that banned Factortry for use in refining. Its name comes from "factory" and "tortoise".

Castla, the Coral Pokemon, water/rock type, an evolution of Corsola. Its branches have grown together into a fortress-like structure that is virtually unbreakable. It has a symbiotic relationship with small Pokemon that live in its fortress. It defends them from predators while they help clean it. It needs clean water to live in and the populations has dropped considerably due to pollution.

I figured that if Galarian Corsola gets an evolution, the original should too. Like the original, this Castla is based on staghorn coral, but also castles. A castle is a type of barrier and Australia famously has the great barrier reef. Reefs are famous as habitats and are essentially ecosystems based on symbiosis, just like Castla. Like the great barriier reef, pollution and global warming is signaling hard times ahead for poor Castela. Its name comes from "Corsola" and "Castle"

Glideon, the Sugar Glider Pokemon, flying type, an evolution of Eevee. Glideon live in trees and glide around their rainforest homes on flaps of skin between their legs. Using their tails as rudders, Glideon are very proficient gliders and they will perform aerial tricks to impress each other and attract mates. Trainers should be aware that Glideon are highly social and need a diet high in sugar.

Wormeon, the Velvet Worm Pokemon, Bug type, an evolution of Eevee. Wormeon are reclusive beings that live deep in the forest and are rarely seen. Their fuzzy pelt is so soft people can get addicted to petting them. Wormeon bodies are soft and fragile, so they defend themselves by spitting out sticky slime and powerful acid.

If Gamefreak won't make new Eeveeloutions then dammit I will. Glideon is based on sugar gliders and Wormeon is based on velvet worms. Sugar gliders are a type of possum that glide around on skin flaps called patagia and have a very fruit-heavy diet. They are found in Australia and have been exported as exotic pets. Unfortunately, the biggest provider of sugar gliders is pretty unethical. Velvet worms are members of a unique phylum and can be described as worms with legs. They are very soft, hence the name, and spit slime for offense and defense like Wormeon. There are many species of velvet worm in Aotearoa. I may end up revising the Wormeon design as I'm not totally sold on it. I don't think it looks enough like an Eevee for my liking.

Frozosis, the Cryptobiosis Pokemon, ice type. It was once thought to be a regional variant of Solosis, but is now known to be unrelated. These strange Pokemon are found frozen under the ice on high mountains, where the cold keeps them in stasis. Scientists believe they froze themselves possibly millions of years ago to survive a mass extinction and are only now beginning to thaw out. Those who thaw out often roll down the mountains to be found in the lowlands.

Frozosis evolves to Frozuion, the Cryptobiosis Pokemon, ice type. Despite being frozen to the point where biological activity should cease, Frozuion are still capable of moving and feeding. Scientists suspect they are in a sleepwalking-like state of half-stasis and that if one were to fully thaw out, it would have mysterious powers, though nobody knows how to do it safely.

Frozuion evolves to Reunifroz, the Cryptobiosis Pokemon, ice type. They have some strange power that allows them to levitate and act alive, despite being frozen so cold that no conventional life could exist. Scientists are unsure of what would happen if one were to thaw out as they are so cold even molten magma cannot warm them. It is possible that a thawed Reunifroz would have powers unlike any other Pokemon.

The Frozosis line is convergent to the Solosis line. They are based on cryptobiosis, a state of near-death stasis that certain living things can enter to survive extreme conditions. The Solosis line are based on embryo development and the Frozosis line are based on frozen embryos. The first successful pregnancy from a frozen embryo happened in Australia. Because it's frozen and in cryptobiosis, the cell in the Frozosis line doesn't develop like the one in the Solosis line. Frozuion and Reunifroz are based on micro-animals. Some species of micro-animal can enter cryptobiosis to survive changing conditions. Frozuion is based on a tardigrade (the poster child for cryptobiosis) while Reunifroz is based on a rotifer. Their names come from "frozen" and the Solosis line's names.

I love these choices very much, Mammon could give you anything really but it has to be shiny!! It'll probably be beldum since you can breed one and or find one in the wild and goldengo can't be shiny sadly.

I already said this in discord but I'll say it again here I would love to be the fly on the wall to hear the conversation between MC and Leviathan as he hands them a feebass.

Once it turns into milotic I want the two beauties to start beefing. Cuz I bet that feebass would hate leviathan's guts

I love the choices, two of those Pokémon are rather high maintenance for belphegor So I could mostly see wooloo since it's more low maintenance and I could see him having such a liking for sheep like Pokémon.

Eugene definitely pulled a “don’t you touch my DAUGHTER!” during the final Dusknoir fight and surprised himself and everyone else
