What's ur fav piece of trivia for every* character?
(*or at least as much as you can recall off the top of ur head)
my favorite trivia for characters is usually just whatever i think is funniest so just keep that in mind. that's not always the case but you might see it become a pattern. oh the other thing is whatever is most soul-crushing so yeah.
Ichika - either the fact her name comes from how her parents met (because i think it's really sweet) or that she accidentally discovered miku when she was watching videos on her dad's tablet and opened a recording of a miku concert
Saki - she used to listen to the song Time Machine when she was in hospital (at Ichika's recommendation) to remind her of family and friends. It's the in-universe reason why she is featured on the cover. This is actually one of my favorite facts in the game overall.
Honami - she is surprisingly good at flirting
Shiho - not one I've posted before, but in Run! Sports Festival! she couldn't bring herself to throw any of the balls in the ball toss because they had cute animal designs on them
Minori - she once passed out because Haruka wished her happy birthday.
Haruka - she likes penguins because she thinks the way they waddle is cute and she likes how round a lot of penguin merch is
Airi - she followed all of Shizuku's campaigns and bought all the magazines she was featured in when she was still a member of Cheerful*Days. She insists it was just research.
Shizuku - either that she usually has a thermos of miso soup on her to eat after practice or archery club or that she isn't good at texting. i haven't posted either of these before
Kohane - again one I haven't posted yet, but her favorite photo she's taken of Count Pearl is one of Pearl eating mice. the rest of VBS are surprised that she isn't squeamish about that sort of thing (i dunno what they're talking about that sounds like a very cool photo).
An - the possible symbolism of the black stripe on her new school cardigan. hello to the person who submitted that i am still not over it.
Akito - in Cinema he's the only person to sing solo during the first two choruses, the others don't get solo parts in the chorus until the end of the song. i think about this one a lot actually
Toya - he can't swim
Tsukasa - he's the comedic relief and there's a lot of really random shit i know about him because of that, so my favorite fact about him is whatever will have the most impact in the moment if i were to mention it out of nowhere. for a less vague answer, this one although i consider it to be one of my worst posts
Emu - she's very good at replicating cartoon faces. i like this one because it raises a few questions about whether the L2Ds are still exaggerated or if she just looks like that and no one questions that she actually has a cartoon face. what if project sekai ends with them all becoming self-aware.
Nene - either the fact that she thinks the forest has good graphics or that she called rui's mom "auntie" when she was younger because i think it's cute.
Rui - i like a good reference and i appreciate that he sometimes references famous people and media.
Kanade - she's left handed. i also like that her family name was made up specifically to contrast with the rest of N25.
Mafuyu - either that it's shown one time that she can see ghosts and then it's never brought up or referenced again, or that the "mom's cooking" listed as her favorite food might refer to the bunny-shaped apple slices her mother would make for her when she was a kid. i also like the detail that her eyes being two-tone is because she inherited the eye colors of both her parents.
Ena - twitter user. also despite loving cheesecake, she doesn't like cheese. girl what the hell.
Mizuki - they started out editing by making AMVs for a magical girl anime they liked. Amia comes from the name of a character from that anime. also did you know they put ice cubes in noodles because of their sensitive tongue. ice cubes.
Bonus - some side character stuff I like
Kotaro's favorite food is strawberries but he doesn't like strawberry flavored things for whatever reason
Asahi and Sakurako's family names are Chinese mythology references
Tatsuya's hobbies are motorbiking and fishing. these are not things you expect to go together
Nagi hated tomatoes but she would eat them in front of An
Iori hates spicy food, whilst Mio's favorite food is super spicy ramen. Meanwhile Mio doesn't like cream, but Iori likes crepes (which usually have cream on them).
Souma started listening to foreign music after Arata left for America
gbr i forgot about the vocaloids for a second but before i call it a day i think it's incredibly funny that Len cannot reach the stools in crase cafe.

anyways while i procrastinate the next chapter of my smau. here's what i think i would consider my top 10 favourite movies i WATCHED in 2023. they may not have come out this year. and it might be a rewatch but like i saw them this year. ok yeah. keep in mind im a simple silly girl i honestly don't consume much content that isn't related to my hyperfixes sooo i do miss a lot of movies el oh el. anyways !!
under the cut cuz this list is Long sorry guys 😭 would appreciate if u read it though 🫶 just my silly thoughts and i'd love to hear urs !!!
1. spiderman: into the spiderverse. i'm sorry to say i didn't get to see across the spiderverse yet. also this was a rewatch i'm not that late to this movie. but. DUDE. genuinely what i'd consider my favourite movie. of all time. the graphics? literally gorgeous. ugh. i could go on about this movie for ages. it really did change animation if you ask me (a non professional teenage girl) but like ?? the story oh my god i loved the idea. and miles was such a Person. he was so real. oh they did such a good job on miles and gwen and stuff. just like. they were so real to me. i love them so bad this film genuinely had an indescribable effect on me. also i ADORE the soundtrack <3
2. oppenheimer. like. okay i know people complained it was too long. and i get that but also i genuinely would watch like. another hour of that film. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY?? dude it was amazing. i genuinely loved oppenheimer ough it was such an Experience. especially because i went into it thinking i wouldn't enjoy it very much? yeah i was dead wrong. LOVED that film.
3. top gun: maverick. this did come out 2022. which feels crazy i swear it was this year. but i know it was '22 because i rewatched it this year STILL HITS THE SAME !! i genuinely love this movie so fucking bad! the characters were so fun. and i liked how like? despite the established lore that's obviously shown in the film it has a very open new-audience entry point (idk what else to call it ?!?!) because i didn't watch the original top gun but i honestly think i understood like. basically everything in the film. maybe i missed some like nuanced ideas bc they were like linked to the first top gun but other than that it's good as a standalone too and! i value that. it's a great film.
4. blue beetle. i don't know if this film was like. Objectively this good? but i have a few reasons. firstly, i'll admit i'm biased and i just like blue beetle. i love jaime reyes !! so i was super excited to hear there was a blue beetle movie. secondly, i loved the acting. the cast wasn't all that big? not that it was small, or anything, but it might've felt that way bc most of the characters were jaime's family. but. like? they did so incredibly well. it was a Generic Superhero Movie tbh. like, half-assed romance, character's family member dies (will not spoil who though! soz for the half-spoiler) and all that? but. OUGH. beautiful film like the premise was pretty interesting as a blue beetle origin story and i loved the acting it was just. yeah. i loved this movie so so much.
5. transformers: rise of the beasts. i didn't think i'd like this one as much as i did when i watched it. like i really did not. BUT? oh my god it was good. i loved bumblebee !! like okay i know he had his own movie with the reboot but i haven't seen it so. ya. but like also? i really loved the humans. they felt like such People to me? i love them dearly yeah this was actually such a banger movie. 10/10 would recommend!
6. the lego ninjago movie. now. i know a lot of people hated this film. from what i heard back when it came out anyways. and i remember shitting on it too back then but? i genuinely liked it when i rewatched it. it's an enjoyable film. i personally am actually a big fan of the redesigns ?? i like the new designs i like how they put them into the show (even if i'm like. not up to date. at all. sawry!) and i liked the whole high-school thing i thought it was a cute little au. and ?? i know it was very unserious but like. that's by design. i liked it like sometimes you really just shouldn't take it so seriously TEE BEE AYCH !! but maybe that's just me.
7. enola holmes 2. oh my god I LOVED THIS ?! i honestly found the first movie like. a little boring in terms of rewatchability? and i remember liking this film but i rewatched it again and like oh this one was so cool. the match girls strike thing was actually really interesting to me! i didn't know about that so it was pretty cool to learn that. AND? THE ROMANCE? "it means i love you" let me ouuuuuttt oh my god !!!! yeah i loved this movie honestly.
8. a whisper of the heart. honestly i'm kind of late to the ghibli scene </3 I DID SEE THIS BEFORE THOUGH THIS IS A REWATCH but i love this film too much to not mention it. ough. i love a whisper of the heart !! it's so cute and i just love the characters so bad !!!
9. baby shark's big movie! is this on the list only because enhypen was in it. yes. okay no not actually lmao but! it was a factor! like okay. HEAR ME OUT !! it gave me equestria girls vibes! my girlfriend told me never to compare baby shark to EQUESTRIA GIRLS but like. i will speak my truth ! the whole thing was just. silly! like yeah it was a little boring at times and i agree with my gf because nothing beats equestria girls (which i sadly didn't see at all last year. nor descendants but if i had they'd have made the list for sure!) but i genuinely did enjoy this one. it's the truth!
10. drive. i know someone's going to be confused but my brother made me watch it and like. man i genuinely liked it okay 😭 it was a fun watch? that's rlly all there is to it i thought it was funny how he never had a name and is literally called "driver" in the credits. it's hilarious. and like. ryan gosling. yk? and i'll be honest i was running out of movies i saw last year that i actually like. remembered. because i have shit memory and i don't think i saw anything All That Life Changing below like the 8th movie so idk.
bonus: a little list of movies that i might've been interested in but i didn't get to watch last year. just in case one of your favs (or popular slash mainstream movies you've heard of) didn't make the list and you're wondering why. barbie, across the spiderverse (watching soon i swear !), guardians of the galaxy 3, teenage mutant ninja turtles, aquaman and the lost kingdom, anyone but you (i plan to watch it with friends soon!), the boy and the heron, the super mario bros movie, five night's at freddys, and i'm sure theres more but i forgot so yeah.
this is already very long 😭 IF YOU STUCK AROUND THEN THANK U ! let me know what movies you enjoyed this year !!! and if you also enjoyed any i put on this list ! or if u have recs i'd be happy to hear them <3 no guarantee i'll watch them bc i'm very bad with watching movies and stuff but i'd still love love love to hear them !!

fiiiiiic reeeeecs? 👻
Thank you for being so sweet & patient with this, HERE ARE SOME!!! (also I know this is a long post but I didn't want to put any of them under a keep reading😭):
Nine Lives by machiroads | You may have been wondering if I was going to start by recommending Nine Lives again and yes I'm going to recommend Nine Lives again, who do you think I am. This fic was my Book Of The Year 2023. I'm also going to recommend its Shinsou-centric spinoff, Naruhata Noir, bc I love Shinsou and NN is so fun despite the literal actual cannibalism (mind the tags, but I didn't find anything in this fic overly graphic!)
Actually, I am going to blanket recommend everything by machiroads, you literally can't go wrong. Special shoutout to 1966 Ford Nutstang GT350 Shelby for Present Mic's quarter-life crisis and Aizawa at his Most Gremlin Ever, I love this fic sm.
let's make some noise (time goes fast when you're having fun) by carolinaa | The first time I read this fic, I actually scrolled right back up to the top and read it again. It's so good. I don't even know where to start. First of all, my favorite Hizashi POV I have literally ever read. The way the author handled everything from his hearing loss to the inherent horror of trying to navigate your 20s. How much he and Aizawa love each other. So much about this fic feels so whole? in a way? I don't know? 1000/10, no notes.
Cry Me A River is another favorite by carolinaa. I literally am wrapping this fic around my shoulders like a weighted blanket.
Passaggio by kashinoha | If you would Like To Cry, this fic is a very recent read for me. Another really good Present Mic POV, but also I curled up into a weepy little ball on the ground upon reading it. I just want the boys to take care of themselves for once is that too much to ask.
nothing as undoing by HalloweenClown | 'Fics that land somewhere between soft and stabbing me in the heart,' which is where a lot of Aizawa & Eri fics land for me. This fic does such an excellent job of capturing the very early stages of building trust™ between them.
acid reflux by lcthe | Vigilante Midoriya AU with a twist(?) The vibes are surreal, the vibes are I'm confused, the vibes are I'm having a great time, and the writing is excellent. It's incomplete and being revised, but I read up to Chapter 3 fairly recently and the erasermic in that chapter,, so painful but so good. Fair warning, this one does get a little dark!
the river walked me home by Thealmostrhetoricalquestion | Writing this post actually reminded me that I want to reread this one. It was the first Todoroki-centric fic I ever read in this fandom (something like a year ago? or close to it?) and I can vividly remember shedding tears over Animal Crossing. I have never played Animal Crossing.
My Brother, My Brother, and Me and Breaking the Ice by seventh_time_lucky | SPEAKING of fics I want to reread, we are going back to 'Liza's pre-ao3 era' (as in, the fics are on ao3, but I was not) These two follow Natsuo as he tries to get to know Shouto after growing up as virtual strangers. There are sentences in the first fic that genuinely haunt me, and the entire coffee conversation (motif?) in the second fic is just. So good? I'm so glad I was able to find them again.
komorebi by Calamitatum | If you're interested in a waaay canon divergent fic, this one reads like a gut punch (in a good way!!) komorebi is one of those fics that I started reading thinking 'oh, that's an interesting premise' and then ended up thinking 'oh god wait what oh no.' I don't want to spoil anything but it definitely went in a direction I wasn't expecting, and honestly it feels like a masterclass in building tension, tackling multiple POVs, and callbacks, my beloved. This author is soo good at unpacking exposition, backstory, and motivation through conversations as well, which I appreciate greatly bc I struggle so hard with that in my own writing. The fic is incomplete with one chapter remaining, so I'm currently rereading it while waiting for the final update!

Sandman Stuff Master Post and Intro (under the cut)
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here! I organised the links and tags to all my stuff for you to make it easier to find your way around my blog.
I love getting asks about all of the below, so see this as an encouragement to slide into my inbox…
Sandman Meta-Analysis (general tag. For a slightly less chaotic take, I have also grouped them into literary/conceptual/psychological, musical and art for you, and I definitely recommend perusing both links and the tag)
Sandman Fics (m/f and f/f, both OC and canon pairings) & Poems
Sandman Art (general tag. I have also grouped them into my own and that of others, with a separate tag for official Sandman artists).
Sandman March Mania was an event we specifically ran for the comics art lovers, so check it out
Sparkle Content Curation (a not-quite-serious collection of Dream/Morpheus thirst-trap fan-art and unhinged posts). Please also peruse the tags #contraceptive sparkles, #glitter herpes and #murphy and his cool hat if this hell-site has left you in a state of being desperate for laughs
On that note: I’m also Dream’s Therapist. I think we all agree he needs one.
Sometimes, I get Gaiman’d and it takes me ages to find the way through my notes again. And on that proverbial note: Never any bad intentions if it takes a while to get back to you, or if I even forget (shout at me if I do!). I appreciate everyone who is here and engages, whether we’re mutuals or not.
Personal Intro (who am I, and what am I up to when I don’t waste time on Tumblr) under the cut
Want to know who I am? Read on…
Once there was a girl with so many words, so many images, so many songs in her head that had no place to go. So she decided some of them will just go here…
Well, that sounds a bit contrived, but it’s not entirely untrue. Apart from the “girl”-part, because I’m at the younger end of Gen X. Or the “no place to go”-part, because some of my work actually *did* go places. Just not the stuff I decided to put on here…
Which is mostly Sandman stuff right now, let’s be honest (I fell in love with it when I was 16, and it still has a tight grip on me now). And the fact that it’s a wild mix between my metas, my fanfic and a bit of my doodling already shows the pull in different directions I have experienced for most of my life:
I’ve been a writer since my teenage years, and in another life, I’d maybe have more faith in myself, and writing would be all I’d do. Or maybe not, since I can never just do one thing for too long. Nevertheless, one of my teachers in high school was convinced I needed to tell stories to be happy and warned me about a career in science. Back then, I thought he was overly dramatic. Looking back on it, I sometimes think he had a point.
I’ve worked in science/academia, creative/performing arts and mental health. I guess I’m just a multi-hyphenate who can’t make up her mind what she wants to do with her life, so she tries to do it all and ends up burned out half of the time.
For now, I support people who go through really terrible stuff, and it means the world to me. But it is equally hard and sometimes soul-destroying. Hence, I’ve stopped working for our health service and focus more on my writing these days (both fiction and non-fiction) while still seeing a particular subset of clients privately, but on a much more manageable scale that also takes my own well-being into consideration. You can’t pour from an empty cup…
I’m bilingual and write most of my non-fiction in English and my fiction in my (what I perceive as stronger) other language. But I write fanfic exclusively in English because I want to separate it from my other writing: Somewhere along the way, I managed to publish a few novels under a pen name, and only a select few people know about it. And I intend to keep it that way.
My partner (a graphic artist) thinks I should do more with my art, but I feel everything about it is wrong, and I’m not formally trained. I used to draw much more (mostly pencil and ink), but between working and having a family, something had to give, and if I have to choose, writing always comes first. But I doodle and experiment a lot in Procreate because it’s quicker, and it usually helps me when I procrastinate on my writing. I drop the odd drawing in here (like my avatar), but I don’t see myself as a fine artist, and I’m in perpetual awe of the fanart and talent I see on here.
I also compose and still work as a musician sometimes. As you can tell from the one line devoted to it, performing isn’t really that important to me anymore. However, music is. I have a small adjunct teaching gig at a University that ties in with both performance and psychology. So at this stage of my life, this particular area has become more about giving back.
Nothing I put on here is intended to ever be published in “real” life (maybe that’s odd, because this is still real life, after all). This is just an account for unapologetically being me, unfiltered, with all my hyperfixations—and undoubtedly some pointless shitposts just for fun…

Hey Mel I have questions. You seem to know things.
First of all, do you know anyone who like...designs blogs? I want mine to look better but I hate that crap.
Secondly, your new layout and everything looks super rad. I'm not bugging you about it btw, you are a busy creator - I'm just curious if you can pass along info.
Next, what would you say is your favorite way for your readers or ... art viewers to show appreciation? Do you like reblogs most? Reblogs with comments? Or tags? Or mainly replies. Both, all?
I used to be a serial liker way back when (I know, I'm Satan) but once I realized how important rb'ing was (thank you, educational posts), I started doing it all the time, and I try to interact, which has turned out to be lovely and so much more fun! Anyway, what's your fave feedback method?
Omg hi babe!!!!
Thoughts below the cut:
You give me too much credit with "you seem to know things" hahaha. I TRY, but this hellsite is a challenge!
Firstly, thank you SO MUCH for the sweet compliment on my blog. I have gone through MANY different styles and different schemes before landing on this one. For me it was VERY trial and error and I definitely like this one a LOT.
Designing your blog is tough, and despite having my BFA in graphic design, I sucked at it until I started figure out what works best for me, the writer, and for my readers. The thing I discovered that works best for me personally is the simplicity, but I did have it set up much more complex (and I'm in the process of switching my masterlist to the simpler style STILL)
I don't know anyone who designs them, though I wonder if that's something that people would do? Do they charge money for it? If anyone reading this has any thoughts on that, let me know!
A couple of resources I recommend are:
Canva.com (for the actual design)
Colorpalettes.net (for coming up with color schemes you like)
Pinterest (for photos if needed)
For your second point, I'm ALWAYS happy help anyone with anything I can <3
For your next question, I've talked about this previously but I'm always happy to take the mic when someone hands it to me to discuss this further. Reblogs with comments will always be mine, and most, creator's preferred form of support/appreciation.
- Side note: Financial support is technically the best way to show support/appreciation for most artists but I don't ever want to charge money for fanfiction because that opens up a whole can of worms that I don't think most fanfic writers would really want, despite it sounding good in theory. - For example, most fanfic writers are writing out of passion, emotion, and just raw feelings. As soon as you start charging money, it starts being more of an obligation for the writer (less fun). I also like that you don't HAVE to have money to enjoy creative works like fanfiction, you can enjoy it for free. It's a community that thrives off of my providing the stories that my brain enjoys coming up with, to people who enjoy reading them. - Though I will say that if someone sends me a tip or something just to show support that's AMAZING. I just mean, I don't think putting fanfiction behind a paywall is something we want inherently.
That being said, the LEAST anyone can do, is reblog. I also used to be a serial liker, not knowing how important reblogs were. Let me paint the picture and tell a story lol:
Person 1 sees Artist making art and says "I like this." The Artist is happy and says "Thank you that's so sweet of you. I hope others like it too," but before they can even finish their sentence, Person 1 is gone. Person 1 never tells their friends about the amazing art they saw. Person 1 doesn't even tell the artist WHY they liked their work. (And in some cases, Person 1 says "I like this. Hey can you make me an extremely complicated commission for free so I can have it and also not tell my friends about that?") - Person 1 is a "serial liker" and an asshole entitled reader. We hate Person 1, they're an asshole.
Person 2 sees Artist making art and says "I like this." Now, they go to their friends and say, "I saw some art. I liked it," and they don't elaborate. So their friends, might go see it, but Person 2 hasn't really done anything to "sell" your work to their friends. So YES it's SO MUCH better than what Person 1 did, but Person 2 could still be better.
Person 3, our queen, our beloved, sees the Artist making art and says "I like this." Then Person 3 not only tells their friends about how amazing it is, but they also tell the artist why they liked it so much and the things about it that made them happy. Their friends can see how excited Person 3 is about the work, thus inspiring them to check it out and spread it to their friends by reblogging as well.
All of this to say, Person 3 is the ideal reader, they reblog, they engage with you, they're spreading the word, and sometimes that can be the difference between an artist continuing or ending their time on tumblr. I've seen it happen twice, and it's fucking heartbreaking.
Just something to think about for others who don't understand why we push for reblogs so much!

hi jo! firstly, thank you for being such a positive kind influence in the community, you deserve all the love!
secondly, pls don’t feel pressured to answer if you wouldn’t like to, genuinely!
but i was wondering if you have any advice for writers on here that severely lack getting feedback from readers. i can’t help but feel extremely discouraged receiving virtually no comments (no matter how small) about my works when i post them. it’s a bit disheartening and it’s starting to affect my confidence in my writing, especially when numbers/notes don’t mean anything to me. i know that creativity and skill is not reflected by any parameters on social media whatsoever, but i just can’t help but self-doubt when i feel really proud about a work yet receive no feedback.
thank you for taking the time to read and i genuinely appreciate you < 3
hiii, that’s so sweet. I’m not sure what I’ve done, but I thoroughly appreciate it! thank you so much! 🩷
I shall be completely honest, I am not entirely sure how to answer or what answer I can provide. but as always, I shall give it my best go:
getting people to engage is a tricky thing, and something unfortunately you can’t make happen. on some occasions, it’s instant and with others it takes time. I know stories that have had so much interaction in the comments but then on others there’s been none—and they’re written by the same person. equally, even some of my pieces get very few comments and then others get a lot. so it’s difficult.
my first advice on what you can do to help is consider making sure your piece indicates what you’d like someone to do. sometimes people are scared/nervous, because they don’t want to do it wrong. so if you haven’t, adding a simple “If you can let me know your thoughts in the comments, be much appreciated” shows an indication that you warrant that kind of feedback.
if you’re already doing that and still struggling, I recommend seeing if you can reach out to some friends or writers you admire and create a ‘buddy’ group. this way you can share amongst one another your works, give each other feedback (and also then scream at one another about plots and characters). by creating a circle for yourself, it can make it feel less like you’re shouting into a void, and at least then if interaction is slow, you know there’s someone more than you who is invested in your story. if that’s something you feel would benefit you.
I had a group like this for a different thing and it was ahhhmazing. we bounced off one another, but we were also one another’s cheerleaders (and that’s such a nice feeling).
lastly, you love your story, right? remind yourself of that. something I’ve told a friend to do is before they upload and share it, copy and paste quotes or passages that they love from their work. put it in a fresh document somewhere just for you. and, when you begin to feel disheartened, remember the beauty in which you created. put it in a cool font, add it into a graphic (if you make them) or just have it in a format that tells your brain it isn’t on tumblr or where else you post.
I know it’s cliche, but the person who has to love your work first, is you. and while I know it’s disheartening (like honestly, you’re not alone in it), and unfortunately there isn’t a spell I can cast or a bit of helpful advice that I can offer to let you know what makes people interact.
and while I know I said this on the “be kind” post, but I like the phrasing. you just haven’t found your people, and that takes time. and by that I mean, the people who love your work, the words, the places, the descriptions you create—not just the character or fandom.
again, I am not entirely sure if this has been helpful. I feel i give such poopy advice and I’m so sorry if it is. but just know it’s okay to feel whatever you feel, just don’t let it smush out your flame (if you can help it) 🩷✨
equally, if anyone has any advice, please drop it below. I am very aware I am not that good at the advice hahaha!

hii i got some stuff at your table at fanime and wanted to say that I really love your art and merch!! I was rly taking in how well designed everything was (i esp love the graphic design on your pins and stickers) and i wanted to ask how you got into/how long you have been tabling at conventions? i want to get into it too but im overwhelmed with keeping track of all the applications, merch making, etc--do you have any tips for beginners that you wish you knew when u started?
Thanks so much!! I'm glad to hear you like what you got from me! and that you appreciate the effort I put into graphic design :'D
I'll answer your question below the cut since it got kind of long
My first time tabling was in September 2018 at Crunchyroll Expo! I only did 4 cons pre-2020, the last of them being Crunchyroll Expo 2019, so I tabled for exactly a year before the pandemic started. Then I stopped for two years and started doing cons again in May 2022 at Fanime. I've got at least 3 more cons planned for this year including my first AX 😳 But my last con as of right now is Fanime 2023, so I've been tabling for a little over two years.
Tabling was really overwhelming the first time I did it too, but I mooched off of a friend's table so at least I didn't have to worry about getting the table. It's really helpful if you have a friend who's willing to share their knowledge with you, but if you don't, you kind of have to learn how to table the hard way... I also have a bunch of friends who started tabling around the same time, so we all helped each other by sharing resources, tips, and manufacturers. I strongly recommend getting a buddy! Especially if you ever plan to travel to a convention to table, having a friend go with you takes off so much stress.
When you're first applying, I would suggest finding a convention or free-admission art market close to you (doesn't matter the size of the convention/market), or a big con where you're almost guaranteed to make your money back like AX, ANYC, or Fanime (though it's gonna be tough to get into these because of all the competition). Don't worry about tracking the apps for every single con, just pick a few deadlines to track. I think for your first con it's best to cut down on travel/lodging costs as much as possible because you never know how much you'll make back.
As for making merch, I wouldn't worry about making so much all at once. Well, maybe you have to produce a lot for your first con. But after that I just try to add at least one new thing for each con, even if it's just a sticker, so I slowly build up a catalogue that way. For my first con, I just printed zine pieces and illustrations that I already had, and the only new thing I drew was buttons.
For more specific questions, the blog @howtobeaconartist helped me so much in the beginning! You can also ask me off-anon, and I can try to help, but I can't guarantee that I can be of help.

50 Years of Island Books: The Staff
Tumblr media
This 50 Years of Island Books series is about to reach the grand finale, because November is only a few weeks away and it's almost time to pop the champagne. Since April, I've talked to booksellers and owners from years past, sales reps, and many beloved local authors to paint a picture of what Island Books has meant to the community and how it evolved into the place it is today.
Now, I'm turning my attention to the people who show up hour to hour, in the here and now, to make the store the living, breathing wonderland that it is and will be in 2023 and beyond. On a rainy Monday when the store was closed for cleaning, I pulled them aside for some heart-to-hearts.
So many times we come in and say a quick hi to these friendly booksellers, the face of a familiar place we know and love, but it's rare we think about who they are as people and what they think about as they work. I've known many of them for years and have watched the staff evolve. From my little perch, I can honestly say that they put so much love into what they do, and that our island community wouldn't be the same without them.
Side note: since I already cornered the longest tenured Island Books employee for a separate blog, Cindy only makes a tiny (and fun) appearance via Caitlin in this post. If you want to learn more about Cindy, click here.
To our Island Books booksellers—we love and appreciate all of you. Truly. Now let's get into it.
Miriam: I'm so happy to have a chance to talk to each of you. Let's start with, which book category excites you the most, and why?
Brad: Any day I can turn someone onto the Russians, like Checkhov, Tolstoy, or Dostoevsky, or someone less read, like Pushkin, is a great day. Jorge Luis Borges is a favorite for customers looking for a literary blend of fantasy and science fiction literary. He's Argentinian, and his voice differs from many other classic authors. There are so many large and small presses putting out reprints.
Becca: I'm largely a sci-fi, fantasy, and romance person. I’m not averse to other categories, but the books that I drop everything to read tend to be one of those genres (or fairy-tale retellings). I also love curling up with a good Middle Grade or Young Adult fiction.
Lori Robinson: The genre I get the most energy around right now is romance. I read widely, but I have my favorite places I like to land, although every once in a while something different catches my eye.
Caitlin: I love to sell the books I like to read: short story collections, literary fiction, translated fiction, poetry, some memoirs, and art and ballet history. When I first started at Island Books, a lot of people said, “Oh, short stories don’t sell here.” But I'm happy to say that isn't the case anymore.
Nancy: I like to read literary fiction and good narrative nonfiction, generally science and history.
Lillian: I think people would assume that I read a ton of kids books, but I’m around them so much and read them for work—at least 600 picture books a year (!), so for my own pleasure, I read mostly mystery, romance, and fantasy.
Miriam: As a group, you have a wide variety of tastes, which is great for customers. Now, tell me about your proudest accomplishments at Island Books.
Brad: I love to draw signs. I’m a part-time illustrator with a cartoony style, maybe because I’m a big graphic novel fan.
Becca: It’s fun to have become a person that customers ask for book recommendations. -- I still feel fairly new (2 years under my belt now), but to have become an integral part of something I love so much is awesome.
Lori Robinson: Mine would be the year we sold over 200 copies of Amy Snow by Tracey Rees in six months because I kept hand selling it. It was the first time I realized the impact a bookseller could have on the success of a book that wasn’t getting all the media attention.
Caitlin: Mine would be proving that our customers do like short stories.
Nancy: I'm proud of the many stories over the years that I could bring home to my family, and tell them how we found the perfect book for a customer’s dying mother or a kid having an issue, things like that. And the funny ones—we used to have a customer who loved to give a certain book to his lady friends. Whenever we saw that title on order, everyone knew he had a successful date! I think he single-handedly kept that book in print. I sure didn’t have those kind of stories when I worked as a web designer.
Miriam: There's no job quite like bookselling, is there? Those are great answers. Can you give an example of when you felt a deep connection with a customer or the community?
Becca: When a kid comes in and says they like fairy tales and you realize that kid is exactly who you were as a small child. Then you give them a pile of books and they buy all of them and you’re like, yes, I’ve found mini-me! Or having someone call back or come in the next time and say, "What you gave me for my grandkid was exactly what I needed and they loved it".
Lori Robinson: I have a certain customer who I remember coming to our door during the pandemic and saying, “Just pick two books out for me, I’ll read anything you want." That trust is challenging. When I don’t know someone, I really want to take care of it and give people good choices. Anytime someone buys a book that I write a blog about, that warms my little heart. And I love when someone comes in and I think, I would never guess you’d read this book, and then they say, “I love this book!” I just love that we all get to like what we like.
Caitlin: One of our customers who loves short stories—having that customer come to me for recommendations is really nice, and an honor because she’s also a big reader, a school librarian, and a mother. I love sharing a common love of certain books with individual customers.
Nancy: Here's my quirky fact - This will be the second 50th anniversary of a bookstore I’ve attended this year. The other one I went to recently was for Red and Black Books, where I used to work with former Island Books bookseller Kay Wilson. I saw her there. Talk about long-time connections.
Lillian: I actually have a really clear one. Earlier this year, a mom came in and said that her queer child felt welcomed and happy to be at the store, and she was so thankful that her child had thought to mention how welcome they felt. I almost started to cry on the spot and it makes me tear up thinking about it.
Miriam: That's amazing. It's nice to know that your experiences in the store are just as meaningful to you as they are to the customers. I love hearing this good stuff, and I’m also interested in hearing about a challenge you overcame.
Brad: At first I would have said, wrapping, and it’s something I didn’t expect. I had no idea! People on Mercer Island really know how to give gifts. Drawing quickly is also a challenge.
Caitlin: I wish more people would give books I like a try. People will come in and want to read whatever is the bestselling book. What I say is, “What are you in the mood to read?” and then go from there, because not everyone needs to read bestsellers or classics. They’re not in school. Read what you want.
Nancy: There are a lot of books! We like a lot of books, but more and more books come out and we don’t have the space to shelve everything. We can order it, but we can’t stock everything. So every quarter, it’s a huge challenge to say, these are the books we’re going to commit to.
Lillian: The honest challenge is to stay interested after reading so many books over so many years. What I realize after I go through another season is that the books are different, that’s the great thing about books. Sometimes customers want the same thing over and over, and those things become classics and that’s fine, but for the majority of customers and definitely for me, I have to see what’s different, otherwise, it can get repetitive.
Miriam: Great answers that speak to so many years on the job. Here's another question. How would your colleagues describe you?
Brad: Friendly and kind, I would hope. A good listener.
Becca: Enthusiastic and willing. Laurie says I’m sassy. I'm also the youngest and got sucked into the social media part of things pretty quick, so I get a lot of the, hey, younger generation, technology, things.
Lori Robinson: I know that I’m pretty calm and unflappable when it comes to dealing with whatever you’ve got to deal with.
Caitlin: Oh, ha, here’s a note from Cindy about this question. She said I’m literary and quirky, and a name-dropper. And I was like, “Yeah…I think that’s pretty accurate.”
Nancy: Brilliant, friendly, kind to everyone, no-nonsense. You know. All the good stuff.
Lillian: I’m definitely the squeaky wheel. I guess what they’d say is that I get things done. That’s the thing. I get things done.
Miriam: These answers cracked me up (including the ones that aren't making it to print!). OK, let's do a fantasy question now. What would you do with it if someone gave you one million dollars to improve the book business and/or promote literacy?
Brad: Open more dream bookstores and do them the way I always wanted.
Becca: The industry is already diversifying the characters and cultures in books, and I’d find ways to support that. Everyone deserves to see themselves in what they read.
Lori Robinson: I’d love to do something to fight book bans. Working at the bookstore has opened my eyes to what banning books does, and I appreciate that it’s changed my view on experiencing things rather than being afraid of them.
Caitlin: I’d start with free nationwide healthcare for people earning under a certain amount of money. I grew up in a household filled with books, and I think it’s important for kids to grow up with their own books, and that takes parents earning a living wage.
Nancy: This is because I’m such a nuts-and-bolts person, but I’d get rid of dust jackets and have everything be paper on board so that we have less damages to deal with. Saves money and they’re annoying.
Lillian: I’d reverse this trend of prices going up because that would make independent bookstores more accessible to people who shop online because it’s cheaper. There are people who can’t afford to shop in independent bookstores, and if you remove that barrier, it would just open up that handpicked-for-you element that can be so special for kids, and adults too.
Miriam: Ah, if only booksellers ran the world. How about this. If I were to work with you in the store for a month, what would I learn about bookstore life that I can’t possibly gather from a brief interview?
Becca: A lot of people don’t know that we get new releases every single Tuesday, or that we get books sent to us a week before they come out so we have them on the actual release day. So many books, all the time.
Caitlin: Customers are pretty savvy. Obviously, there’s that old idea that booksellers and librarians are just sitting around reading all day, but it’s not true, there’s a lot of work. It’s physical work, you’re constantly bending and putting things away.
Nancy: Well I’m sure everyone says, we do not have time to read while we’re working. They also might not know just how much we really know our customers. Sometimes when we’re going through a catalog, we’ll say, “Oh, I know who will like that book.” And we get that book for that particular person in our community. The two big trends in the past years are the normalization of queerness in fiction and nonfiction, so we really have a tiny LGBTQ section, because, there aren’t really any queer novels anymore—they’re mainstream. I love that. The other thing is Tiktok. It’s been crazy for us getting younger women and girls in the store. And we wish Tiktok could work that way for boys too. We now see these backlist authors getting a second wind because of Tiktok and that’s so interesting as a trend. The third thing that everyone is talking about is AI. One of the things that we have on our radar and it’s been coming up in the book world is fake books. We’re seeing them more and more in the travel and cookbook categories. Our job as curators is more important than ever. We’re working with reputable publishers, we’re looking at every book that comes in the store, we’re recommending books. I think with AI, people are becoming even more important.
Lillian: How much time we spend just putting books away and tidying up and keeping things alphabetized. I can’t tell you how much we hum the alphabet to keep bookshelves in order. And working with me in particular, I’d say that I come across much more serious than I really am.
Miriam: You all have to be so organized. Let's move on to my final question. What does being part of a small business within a community mean, and how do you play a role in it?
Brad: One of the best things about working at Island Books is how the community supports the store. And it’s not just about books. We’re a hub. About six months after I started, a woman came in and said her car wouldn’t start. Does anyone know how to jump a car? And I said, I can help. She didn’t know me, but she knew I worked at Island Books, so she knew we'd pitch in.
Becca: People are so committed to the small-town vibe here, everyone knowing each other. It’s so cool to see my colleagues interact with all these customers and they know their names and who they are. I also admire the way we work with other small businesses in the community. Everyone is invested in each other.
Lori Robinson: It’s funny for me, because I went to middle school and high school here, and I worked on the south end for longer than I care to admit, but all of that built a lot of relationships for me, the kind where you see people every day. It’s strange to have people to come in who have kids who were four when I met them and are now graduating from college and starting their careers. When I think about being part of a bookstore, I hope that there are some kids and regular customers who have felt like we’ve offered them a safe place and that I’ve personally been a safe person to talk to who they know won’t judge them or what they like to read. It means a lot to people when we remember them. I hope we offer a warm moment and a good experience.
Caitlin: With the exception of Laurie (and Becca, who is moving off-island), none of the staff lives on the island. So I guess we feel we’re representatives of the store and the community and it’s our responsibility to make people feel welcome.
Nancy: I feel like I have really grown with Mercer Island. I don’t live here, but I feel like I’ve really gotten to know this community. I worked for Roger for six years and I’ve worked for Laurie for almost seven, and we see kids grow up, we see people age, we have a lot of customers who have died over the years, and you’re kind of going through life cycles with people. We’ve seen the build up of Mercer Island, the businesses who are all working together now—it didn’t used to be like that. The community feels more like they appreciate their community too. I think our customers really stepped up during Covid and realized, we love this place, and we need it. They’ve been great.
Lillian: As the kids’ specialist, it’s different, because I spend a lot of time chatting with the community kids. I get to watch them grow up. There are people that come in who are going to high school that eight years ago I was recommending chapter books to. So, to have a hand in helping kids become life-long readers, and enhancing how important it is, is great. I always say I’m lucky to not be the teacher or parent because I don’t have to worry about the academics. I worry about, how can I make this kid love books so much that they will be a reader for the rest of their life?
Miriam: Right? That makes so much sense. Thanks, everyone. What a cool crowd. I adore all of you and am so glad you're in my life, and everyone else's!
Next week, for my final installment of 50 Years of Island Books, I'll be talking with the owner, Laurie Raisys, and it'll be a good one. See you soon.

Hiya, I just read Dissembled and I was really impressed by the way you describe Danny's various injuries, I was wondering what research you might do and if there are any resources you might recommend for writing them so intimately the way you do. I did read someone in your reviews talk about scripttorture and I have been loving their blog so far, so thanks to that reviewer of yours lol! I'm so impressed by your ability to actually surprise me and keep me in suspense, I usually almost forget (1)
about fanfics entirely after reading but Dissembled literally kept me stuck to the screen until I was done. In your tags you mentioned something about feeling like a boring writer, I can assure you that what you did to me with Dissembled was rare. Normally I would have skipped any part of the fic having to do with Maddie's search/where Danny's absent, but I was hooked to the point that I couldn't skip any parts at all! I found it funny that in a few replies you made to reviewers, you mention (2)
being a masochist and it seems a few reviewers were also, I'm not, I'm a sadist, so hopefully you can take pride in knowing that your work is beloved by masochists /and/ sadists alike lmao I'm sorry this was so long but this was certainly not the typical fanfic reading experience for me and you deserve to know how much your work effects readers imo. You have amazing skill, and I would love to know how you do it, especially the suspense! Also if you're still playing the ask game, 13 please! :) 💙
Wow, this is a tremendously flattering message. I'm so pleased you enjoyed Dissembled and that you felt all of it was worth reading, even the parts centered on Maddie's search for Danny.
(I will be giving an answer to #13 in a separate post, so please watch for it!)
Some people are surprised by this, but I am indeed a masochist. Not like a hardcore one, but I do enjoy some good pain. The reason I enjoy making Danny suffer is not because I'm thinking from a sadist's perspective but rather I'm putting myself in Danny's position. Like I'm not Maddie in these fics, my soul is aligned with Danny as I write. I enjoy writing for Danny Phantom because it has the most perfect setup for torture fiction, like a boy being hunted and captured to be a lab specimen in painful experiments is just too fantastic and no other show or media inspires me in that regard, not even close.
I do appreciate knowing that Dissembled appeals to both masochists and sadists lol. I set out to write the torture/experimentation fic I wanted to see since most in the fandom just kind of gloss over what happens to Danny or just imply that he went through "experimentation" but never specify exactly what. And I don't blame those authors, the hardest part of writing Dissembled was definitely figuring out what exactly was going to happen and then writing it all in detail. I still can't believe I pulled it off.
I'm glad you found the ScriptTorture blog helpful! I had never heard of it before that reviewer suggested it, but I'm linking it in case anyone else wants to look at it!
As for how I write Danny's injuries/torture, I love how you describe it as intimate! That is definitely what I was going for, really trying to bring the reader into it whether from Danny's or Maddie's perspective.
I do have something of a medical background, which helps me a lot when writing torture. In fact, I was very close to going to medical school, I even studied physiology for three years before switching to linguistics. But my dad is a physician and three of my siblings are currently in med school, so it's still a big topic in our family all the time. That combined with my masochistic nature that inspires me to write everything in beautiful graphic detail is what allows me to get "intimate" with Danny's agony.
But if you want some specifics, here are imekitty's tips for writing torture and suffering:
1. Reflect on your own pain and discomfort. When I feel pain or a panic attack, I try to put what I'm feeling into words, like instead of trying to fight the pain, I just let it happen and really try to feel it, engage with it, determine exactly how it's affecting my entire body, all the little and big things happening throughout. It's much easier for me to put pain into words when I'm actively feeling it, and then I am far more likely to remember it later when I'm writing.
2. Extrapolate from your own experiences with pain and discomfort. I have not experienced the majority of what Danny goes through in Dissembled (thankfully), but I'm able to describe what he's feeling by thinking about injuries and pain I have felt. I then expand on that and exaggerate it to predict what it might feel like.
For instance, I have not had my eye slashed open, but I do wear contacts and have touched my eye many times, so I know what that tissue feels like and how sensitive it is. I've also had dirt get into my eye which hurts like a bitch. And I've had deep cuts in my skin, of course. Taking what I know from all of that, I combined that with my knowledge of the eye's structure and how it works to write what Danny feels when Maddie sinks her knife into his eye.
3. Make up creative ways to explain the pain. When finding ways to describe pain, go beyond just "it hurts" or "it stings." Don't be afraid to use descriptions that you know don't actually make sense or aren't actually happening, like Danny might feel like his eye socket is being completely drained dry but obviously that's not really happening. Or it might feel like shards of broken glass are rushing through his veins but it's really just a rush of adrenaline. Or he might feel like the lab lights above are burning and melting his skin off his bones but really his body is just warming up in response to the pain. And then it might look like the lights above him are shutting off in fizzing sparks but really he's just passing out.
4. Use metaphors over similes. Rather than saying "The pain felt like a hot knife in Danny's chest," say instead "Hot pain knifed through Danny's chest." Or rather than "It felt like his head was being crushed," just go ahead and say "His head was being crushed" or "It crushed his head." Readers will know it's not a literal thing. You don't usually need to spell it out for them, and it's just so much stronger when you go straight for the metaphor over the simile. And again, don't worry if your metaphor doesn't actually make sense. I once used "blistered vocal cords" to describe Danny's sore throat from screaming so much combined with the device Maddie used to partially paralyze his vocal folds, and even though his vocal folds obviously weren't actually blistered, it gets the idea across that his throat really, really hurts.
5. Avoid cliched descriptions. So I used it in an example, but try to avoid using descriptions like "it felt like a hot knife" or other expressions you've read or heard before. Try to come up with your own creative comparisons and analogies or descriptions, something no one's heard before but when they read it, they get it, and it sounds horribly unpleasant.
6. Take your time. Especially if the particular torture or injury is important to the plot or is something that the character is going to reflect on later (or will give them PTSD), don't just gloss over what happens. Danny feels everything, every single little aspect of whatever torture Maddie puts him through, he doesn't get to just get a general summary of it, he has to feel it all. Therefore, you don't want to give the readers just a general summary either, you want them to "feel" it all as well. You don't want to spend pages and pages on it, of course, but go ahead and really get into the small details of what is being felt. Not every injury needs to be described in such minute detail, but if it's something you want your character to be deeply affected by later, you do need to really get into it or else readers later won't understand the full extent of why the character is so traumatized.
I hope these tips help and aren't too incoherent lol.

DON'T talk like that.
S--Sorry, I-
Read This. No, chatter from you, yeah?
BEWARE! This is a HUGE WARNING TO THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE CRAZY, AND WE ARE TALKIN' CRAZY, SHIT!
For this account is full of gorey, gnarly, sexually intensified, explicit, kinky, crazy, mature, can be very fucked up at times, smutty SHIT!
Shit that might make some of your guts feel a little...twisted.
There will RARELY be times fluff will be involved.
These smut-the-fuck-up fanfics are to be enjoyed. Not punished. DO NOT want to come on Tumblr to find the account suspended or something! WANNA FREE WRITE PLEASE! But also share with those who can appreciate a little hardcore. Tumblr seems to have liked-minds, so this felt like the place.
About the reader.
The reader will always go by [F/n],[L/n], Dr.[L/n], etc. You can insert any name you would like to. The fanfics are made to be as immersive as possible. Want you to feel like you are actually there in your mind. So, many physical attributes of the reader will be decided upon you.
However, the fanfics will always be [F/M]. Meaning, the reader will always be a biological woman with a biological male character. Does not matter how many men are in it. Love triangles, love hexagons, whatever. Reader will stay a biological woman and male characters will stay biological men.
The reader might be a pyshcopath or a murder spirit. Perhaps she is a pervert. In this account, the reader in these fanfics is not always gushy. She can be ruthless. Egotistical. Homicidal. Volatile. Sick and depraved in the head.
Not only can the reader be scary, but the characters of the fanfics can be as well. They can be written to be just as heartless and sexually sick as the reader, but they can also be submissive.
Remember, these fanfics are not to make your heart flutter. Well, only occasionally. It is mostly to get your heart pumping. Show you another side to fanfics that some of us are not afraid of reaching. A dark one.
If you do not like what you have read so far, please exit this page. Thank you.
...
For those willing to stick your hand into dark side, it shall continue.
Fandoms
Fandoms can vary. Currently stuck on FULL Rick Grimes mode [from The Walking Dead] right now. So, most of what is written in the start of this account will either be about him or he will be a side character in the fanfic regardless.
There are a few fandoms that are dabbled in. For suggestions on fanfics to write, are all the fandoms that can be or evenually will be written about.
ZNation.
Fear The Walking Dead.
Breaking Bad.
Sons of Anarchy.
Altered Carbon.
The Almighty Johnsons.
Trailer Park Boys.
American Horror Story.
Warm Bodies.
Horns.
Her.
The Office.
More will be added. Do not care if it is movies or tvshows. Whatever has the hotties in it and that has been seen. Can not make a sincere fanfic about a show/movie never watched. However, video games are different. Will write about video game male characters from games like, Life is Strange, The Last of Us, Final Fantasy, etc.
However, please do not shy away from recommending tvshows/movies/videogames to write about. Willing and open to write about pretty much any male character.
The Hardcore Stuff
Will say right now that topics in these fanfics can be very graphic. Not being sensitive to your feelings nor any beings. If you are reading these fanfics, you have accepted these terms above and below this pinned post.
Please do not report this account, fanfics, artwork, post, etc. It is quite unfair to see all the hard work put into this account be in vein.
There are kinks, fetishes, shameful acts, etc, that can and could take place in a fanfic. Some kinks and fetishes will not be as extreme as others. There is a boundary. A limit. The list of kinks and fetishes will include..
BDSM (Gagging, Bondage, Dominance, Submission, Blindfolds, Choking, Humiliation)
Voyeurism
Cockold
Exhibitionist
Masochism
Sadism
Blood Play
Abrasion Play
Impact Play
Nylons
Smoking
Roleplay
Underwear
Wax Play
Spit Play
Consensual-None Consensual
Somes (Threesomes, Foursomes, etc)
So far, that is about it for the kinks and shit. There is no vomit play, pee play, scat play, or underage/minors. Keep those recommendations away!
This is not really part of the hardcore section, but drugs and alcohol will most definitely be present in these fanfics. Whether it be Marijuana or a shot from Jim Dean, it will be hinted in the fanfic one way or another.
Next, we have the gnarly crap. Blood, gore, abuse, and non-consensual are most commonly and/or heavily present in these fanfics. Adds more realism to the fanfic depending on what it is about.
The least present of the gnarly stuff is self-harming, ending ones life.
Conclusion
If you read this far, then you are done. Everything has been put on the table. Boundaries have been set, and no one who does not want to be here or read these fanfics, will not be apart. Just block and move on if the account really bothers you.

Shockwave flash player crash 1080p#
Shockwave flash player crash drivers#
Shockwave flash player crash update#
Shockwave flash player crash driver#
Shockwave flash player crash upgrade#
Sometimes it'll disable video adapters, making me incapable of watching videos.
Shockwave flash player crash drivers#
Then, as the updates became more frequent, my computer began to go haywire! All of my drivers are up toĭate, but on occasion, Windows will disable my sound driver, forcing me to reinstall it and restart my computer. And started experiencing issues after about two weeks. I upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago. I'm having the same issue with my Yoga 13 as well. I would appreciate it if Microsoft could at least give honest answers about problems resulting from their updates.
Shockwave flash player crash update#
I have several other problems created by the update which I will details elsewhere - display fonts are a disaster and URL links in Windows Live Mail fail with "server execution failure" messages.
Shockwave flash player crash upgrade#
I believe it is Microsoft's responsibility to get their act together and sort out any problems created by the upgrade in as timely a manner as possible. With such intense pressure from Microsoft I couldn't even access updates for Windows 7 without being exhorted to upgrade to Windows 10. I have updated to Windows 10 after a continual bombardment of messages from Microsoft recommending that I do just that. If you are going to say that the workaround is to remove Windows 10 from my computer then I think that would be an admission that Windows 10 is broken. It would also be helpful to know if there was some kind of workaround What I would find much more acceptable would be an honest admission that yes something has been broken and that someone is doing work to try to fix that at some point in the forseeable future. Of course I have re-installed the software affected - I haven't lived through every Windows version change since time began not to do that. The net is full of this kind of circular instruction from support engineers.īasically the Windows 10 update which is now in place on my machine has broken Adobe Shockwave Flash functionality. You can verify this by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the menu.No this is not helpful and it is not an answer. If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing. I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform. Instructions for finding this information can be found here:įinally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.
Shockwave flash player crash driver#
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details. The first step is to work through the video troubleshooting guide for your operating system, here: The primary difference between Flash Player 10 and 11.x is that we're leveraging your system's graphics and audio hardware acceleration (on windows), where we were previous using the general-purpose CPU for video decoding, and the old Windows WavAudio APIs instead of the modern CoreAudio subsytem (which leverages your audio hardware's acceleration capabilities). Why does Flash 9 work better than Flash 12 for people with single cores? Why are we getting way more crashes than we used to? I'd rather have a stable Flash player that plays videos well than an unstable Flash player that has whatever special 3D optimization API OpenGL blah blah blah. Stop trying to put in bullcrap features and make the CORE PROGRAM work in a stable manner. What are they developing for? PowerPCs? Are they even testing Flash on more than one computer? Seriously, way to give away the sign that you're ready for HTML5 to take over. Flash these days works like crap on single core processors, but Flash 10 and under works fine still, Flash these days works like crap on dual core processors in many cases, and now the power of an i7 isn't enough to prevent crashes. I don't know what platform Adobe is developing for. And now on my i7 processor I am getting crashes and freezes? I really hope that Google gets HTML5 video nailed, because I will stop using flash once HTML5 works well and is used more by websites.
Shockwave flash player crash 1080p#
On a Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz, are you kidding me? 1080p videos used to play very smoothly, and now Flash player is total crap wth Chrome on that computer. On my older desktop with a Core 2 Duo, pepper flash causes videos to be out of sync in a very obvious fashion. It seems like Flash player these days is terrible. One, chrome can freak out and cause my laptop to freeze for 3-5 seconds and then go back to normal, or flash player can cause Chrome to go unresponsive, and then shockwave flash player will crash when it lets me choose to end it. Pretty much every day either two things happen. I disable pepperflash because it makes audio and video of out sync. I'm also using Google Chrome with the latest non-pepperflash plugin enabled.

On this day one year ago, Word of Honor first aired to Chinese audiences.  It was a series which came as a surprise to many, and one which didn’t take long until people were excitedly sharing their newest find with both their friends and others upon the internet, encouraging them to join and watch along. The early days themselves were a fun filled adventure. Many fans hurried to catch the new subtitle releases as they dropped onto sites like YouTube, while Youku’s release schedule changed to air the series quicker as attention grew. International fans went as far as to follow translated tutorials in order to make Youku accounts so they could continue watching via Youku’s own streaming service. And just as the fandom family were saddened into believing they would have to say farewell to these characters and the world which they had quickly fallen in love with, they were soon pleasantly surprised to learn that the majority of the cast would be returning for a sold out two-day concert event. While the airing season alone had been an excitable time to be a fan, that love only continued to grow long after the show aired, continuing to attract new fans through word of mouth and community rewatch events. Even now, it is apparent to see that the little show that stepped into our lives with a very limited budget and everything stacked against it quickly became something beloved to many, and it is both from the passions of the original cast and team as well as the fandom which followed that made it so.
Over the past year the fan community has created many kinds of works and been involved in a number of incredible projects, including two lovingly put together zines ( @shlzine and @wohzine), as well as last years Big Bang event (@shlbigbang) and the future Reverse Bang event ( @shanheling-reversebigbang). Many have also shared their own individual works with the community, expressing their love through many mediums including that of art, writing, graphic making and videos.
However, the community has suffered great grief and hardship as well as the highest of highs throughout the past year, yet the continued strength of fans has also shown their great resilience in what has since become a wait for justice. With touching projects created to show Zhang Zhehan and his family support after the events which transpired back in August, the community has proven just how much it is capable of showing love and compassion, not just to the cast they admire but also to the other friends around them whilst moving through this difficult time. One of the most recent projects includes the Zhang Zhehan Chinese New Year event, which invited international fans to leave their messages of blessings and well wishes for both Zhang Zhehan and his family.
In honor of Word of Honor’s anniversary, Immortal Wanderers would like to say thank you. Thank you to all the fans camped out upon this mountain beside us, who continue to keep this fandom alive through the love and joy of creation. We see you, we appreciate you, and we love you ⛰️ 💖
As a small way to say thank you and to pay the love back, a few of us here would like to share some of favourite works over the past year, as well as saying a little something about why these works in particular pulled at our heartstrings.

Song of Divination → written by bluemorningsoup
Summary:
The letter floated down to the Yellow Springs on the back of a dark river, safe in the glowing belly of a fish-painted lantern. It read, Try to eat, and ended, I miss you always. —What happened to Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu in Jing Beiyuan’s first life.
Readers Comments:
“Love,” Wen Kexing finally replied, chuckling. “Isn’t it a funny story?”
- A story of love, told through poems, told through seasons. It's haunting and isn't that what wenzhou is? haunted souls who found each other.
The Price of Iridescent Wings → written by enkiduu and Leaves_and_Smithereens
Summary:
Wen Kexing throws Zhou Zishu into the past in an attempt to save him.
Zishu realizes time travel has consequences, and it is harder than expected to save Kexing from himself.
Readers Comments:
One of the earliest multichapter woh/shl fics. It's dear to my heart because when the fandom was just starting and blossoming, this fic felt like a gift. But aside from that it's a version of wenzhou at their peak and darkest and the struggle to let each other live. It now has an ongoing sequel that's also worth reading :)
Familiar Lives → written by manic_intent
Summary:
The chamber in Diyu smelled pleasantly of sandalwood and tea, wreathed with ever-burning lanterns in pale shades of gold. Standing beside a brazier, an ageless woman with long black hair brewed tea in a large black kettle, occasionally adding in pinches of ingredients from the array of dried herbs floating in jade dishes beside her. She was dressed simply in white and black, unadorned with jewellery. But for the immense aura of stillness about her, the woman would not appear to be the Goddess that she was—the ruler of the 10th Court of the Underworld.
“Lady Meng Po.”
The woman didn’t glance up from her work. “Hu Jia. What is it?”
“It’s happened again,” Hu Jia said, his tone heavy with grievance. “White-haired, at the Stone of Three Lives, refusing to drink your Tea of Forgetfulness—”
Readers Comments:
Manic_intent's fics always give me a sense of wonder and it's so hard to choose one but this....this one... What's not to love about gremlin wenzhou even as they reach the underworld? That nod to all the versions of the endings wenzhou got is like Priest writing extras to her beloved novels. Now that I think about it, this feels like an extra chapter to shl. A new but familiar beginning to a story so loved.
sick with love to the point of falling → written by SpringxSakura
Summary:
Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu are learning how to lean on each other in times of peace, and how, sometimes, the medicine to heal is not a thing, but a person.
"The words spilled out of Wen Kexing, seeking somewhere to find a home. “When I was younger, I used to think autumn was sad, but my...my mama told me that the leaves only fall because they are tired and that once they rest, the leaves will be back again. They are only not feeling well and need to sleep for a little while, and though they love being there to shield the tree from the sun and rain, every single being needs to take a break. To lay down their weary bodies on the ground for a season. Silly, isn’t it?”
A lone leaf had fallen over them, coming to rest in Zhou Zishu’s hazelnut hair. It was a vivid red amongst the dark brown and called to Wen Kexing. He plucked it out, twirling it in his fingers, and waited for the mockery. For someone to tell him that his mother had been too nice and he too gullible, but it never came."
Readers Comments:
Autumn, rain, a head on a shoulder's beloved and wounds both seen and unseen. Told from Wen Kexing's perspective, we see Zhou Zishu, and it is beautiful, that I too wanted to say "Just a little more". This fic paints a simple but one of the most beautiful scene of wenzhou ever written.
Dandelions → created by rosenana708
youtube
Viewers Comments:
One of the earliest fanvids on youtube. There's a reason it has 200k+ views. The song choice is perfect that ever since I watched this video, I would always think of wenzhou when I hear "Dandelions". The editing is superb, from the coloring to the scenes picked. I come back to this video everytime I want to be reminded of wenzhou's early dynamic, the flirting, Ah Xu's exasperation, and two people bruised and bloodied, weighed down by their pasts. It's a reminder that even when woh/shl's early eps might seem light, it is in fact the saddest episodes if the whole show.

Endless Summer / 常夏 → written by stormoverdose
Summary:
Truth be told, he doesn’t want to tell anyone about Wen Kexing. On a superficial level, there’s something thrilling in the secrecy of it all, the idea of being intimate with each other only in front of each other. What they share, physical or emotional, completely preserved away from the world.
On a deeper level that Zhou Zishu is reluctant to confront, Wen Kexing scares him.
***
Or, Zhou Zishu meets Wen Kexing on a hot summer's day in a musty neighbourhood library and never truly recovers, ever.
Readers Comments:
I've read this fic (and its companion piece) so many times, I love it with all my heart. It doesn't matter that I know everything that happens at this point, it always breaks my heart and mends it again in the most wonderful way. This story makes you feel everything so deeply, from mundane sensations to the character's most intense feelings. Even though it's somber at various points, this story never fails to cheer me up when I'm sad, maybe because it's so easy to relate to its themes and it provides a hopeful resolution to all of them.
Rest Stop → written by Vorvayne
Summary:
You meet a man in a bar and go home with him. He's.......strange.
Or: one person Wen Kexing fucked before he met Zhou Zishu who'd say the whole thing was hot, but SO weird.
Readers Comments:
One of the best outsider pov's I've read, and such an interesting look into WKX's character in all his weird glory, in a modern au no less. The pov character's voice was so distinct and has you intrigued from the start. I can't describe the feeling you get going from the first to the second half of the fic, but each time I reread it, it feels just as amazing as the ones before.
A Curse Upon the Stars → written by quaint_marauder
Summary:
One is the Chief of Ghosts, while other is the Keeper of the List of Unfaithful.
They say only death and stench of blood permeates in the valley of ghosts. Humanity was a merely a weakness, just a weapon against you in the hands of an enemy.
So what of love? Can a ghost hope for a chance at love? And would the love of cursed souls rain destruction or could it maybe be their salvation?
Additional:
At the time of this post first being shared, this fic is currently still in progress.
Readers Comments:
This story has it all, from amazing worldbuilding to mystery, comedy, horror, and everything in between. Wenzhou are placed in a setting that's familiar but at the same time so different, and it's amazing to see how that affects the progression of their relationship, which btw is delightful!!!! As shown by the tags, it deals with many heavy subjects (also, the author is always careful to expand on the content warnings each chapter), so keep that in mind going in. But yeah, this fic has me at the edge of my seat with each new chapter!
trembling on the branch, unfurl your petals and grow → written by minnabird
Summary:
Ye Baiyi didn't wake Wen Kexing; Zhang Chengling lied to protect him and held the secret of Zhou Zishu's death in his heart; and life at Four Seasons Manor went on. Until, that is, Bi Xingming comes running up the road from the town and tells Zhang Chengling there's something he has to see.
“I brought him as fast as I could,” Bi Xingming said to the man. “I still don’t know why you had to be so secretive, shifu—”
Shifu.
Zhang Chengling’s heart fell like a stone, and he crashed to his knees beside the man, reaching up as if to sweep the hat off and stopping just short. The man lifted his hand, impatiently shaking his sleeve back in a gesture so familiar he was sure even before he recognized the hand, even before the hand tilted back the hat to reveal his master’s gentle smile.
Additional:
At the time of this post first being shared, this fic is currently still in progress.
Readers Comments:
It haunts me that I almost missed this fic because it's brought me such genuine joy! It shows a version of the future that I'd never considered before despite how naturally it comes to be, and it's so detailed and fleshed out that I was immersed in its world right away. You get emotionally invested in all the characters, even those with less 'screen time', and you end each chapter feeling hopeful and a bit melancholic. Reading it has been such a wonderful experience.
Big Cats are still Cats → written by Andreri25
Summary:
Zhou Zishu picked up a kitty from the trash. She did it because it was a pathetic little thing that was going to die, and Zhou Zishu wanted to be a better person.
Ok so maybe she was a little drunk at the time.
And mayyyyybe…. that wasn’t a kitten.
The vet bills are going to be off the roof. Zhou Zishu wouldn’t mind as much if the local exotic animals specialist wasn’t such a harassing menace.
Or
The one where Zhou Zishu accidentally acquires a wild animal. And a baby clouded leopard, too.
Readers Comments:
I wanted to add at least one fem!wenzhou au, and this one ticks so many of my boxes! Meet-cute!! Animals!!! WKX as an exotic animal vet!!!! And ZZS's pov is as funny and endearing as ever! This fic is funny and sweet and will make your day instantly better.

Ladyhawke AU → written and drawn by @rhymesswith
Readers / Viewers Comments:
I’m very much a child who grew up surrounded by 80′s fantasy movies - Legend, The NeverEnding Story, Labyrinth, Willow - it doesn’t matter if they’re cheesy by today’s standards, they hold a special place in my heart to this day. So imagine my absolute delight when wenzhou!Ladyhawke au hit my dashboard for the first time. Every piece added to this universe causes me to break out in a huge smile. The art is beautiful, and the written pieces which have been included to this series are just so engaging and brilliant. I love whenever the newest piece appears on my dashboard, as it’s always guaranteed to be fantastic.
Stardust AU → drawn by @sadfishkid
Viewers Comments:
Tasha’s art style is always incredible, but I lost my mind when they dropped their two-part wenzhou!Stardust AU! Another favourite story/movie, and I love everything about what this chooses to be. Wen Kexing as his obnoxiously strange self but ✨ shiny ✨ is absolutely perfect, and I love how done Zhou Zishu is. Tasha has a way of making her artwork so expressive in how the characters show their emotions, and it’s just so lovely.
I will carry you → created by solariene

Viewers Comments:
This video entered my life and played with my emotions. It is a beautifully put together journey through Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing’s relationship, and just how much they mean to one another. The song choice is absolutely perfect for them and the editing fits on point with the lyrics. I’ve often come back to revisit this video, since it’s one of my absolute favourites from this fandom.
in this lifetime and the next →  written by PhantomWriter
Summary:
Zhou Zishu was no better during waking hours, sparing what he could in reminiscing about what he actually recalled from his random dreams of a faceless little girl. She was dressed in hues of blue, sometimes pink with a touch of red. Effortlessly, he filled out the blanks among her vagueness: dark eyes in the shape of almonds, a button nose, pinchable cheekbones, and bow-shaped lips; altogether, they would crinkle adorably when her face lit up with a beam or when she stuck out her tongue in impertinence.
Albeit on a young girl’s image, those were exactly two of Wen Kexing’s trademark expressions.
Or, the times Zhou Zishu gets to witness how Wen Kexing handles children and catches extra feelings. ™
Readers Comments:
I absolutely adore this fic. It feels like a warm blanket on difficult days, never failing to pick up my mood. The whole family is present, and seeing Wen Kexing around babies is absolutely darling. No wonder why Zhou Zishu decides he wants to have a family with the man, I’d be weak to such sweetness too! The images created with the words in this story are so beautiful, painting vividly warm scenes that feel like they could be put to canvas.
In Death’s Bed →  written by jaemyun
Summary:
Word has spread in recent years of a temple on Mount Qingya that houses the god themselves.
If one goes to pray to the White Death, they may just get a miracle for their efforts; as long as they are careful not to offend, of course, lest they be carried out as a corpse.
The Prince wishes to ask this god quite the favor; help in seizing the throne. How fortunate that all he asks in return is Zhou Zishu.
Additional:
At the time of this post first being shared, this fic is currently still in progress.
Readers Comments:
The concept of this fic is one that is so interesting to me, every time it updates I’m excited to see what the next chapter will have in store. The interest Wen Kexing has in Zhou Zishu is so delightful, especially as his motives are truly a mystery to the entire cast of characters - well; except maybe Gu Xiang and himself. I don’t really know what direction this story is heading in, but somehow, that just makes it all the more engaging.

The winds of the heavens shift suddenly → written by UnrememberedSkies
Summary:
After a prophetic dream shows him the bloody battle over his disciple's legacy, Ye Baiyi makes the decision to repay his debt to the Zhen couple by rescuing their fifteen year old son from the Ghost Valley. Fate is unpredictable, he discovers, but Wen Kexing is even more so.
Readers Comments:
YBY has a vision of years in the future (the show's events). He decides to rescue a young WKX and GX about it. Such an incredibly tender journey as YBY figures out how to care for GX and WKX and begins to care about them more than he ever planned to. I love the dynamic between WKX and YBY, it takes very fun notes from canon, but there's a surprisingly sweet affinity that springs up between YBY and GX that lowkey steals the show sometimes, and the way he, WKX, GX, and ZZS all settle into a whole in the end is so good. Sometimes you come down off your mountain and you just feel everything despite yourself.
Siji Mountain Rest Stop for the Weary Traveller → written by sundermount
Summary:
“The souvenirs are decently priced, but the food is not.”
One employee, two uncles, a colleague and the (nonexistent) business of tourism.
Readers Comments:
This like, a highly slice of life thing seeing immortal Wenzhou as they are in vaguely modern times through the eyes of someone hired to help out in the rest stop they run on their mountain. With possible flavors of reincarnation, who's to say. It's just...quite lovely, and lets you live in the sensory details and in some OCs' lives while still giving Wenzhou's eternal wedded bliss and relationships built with new people.
this harbored deluge for you and i // 像我和你需要下一场雨  → written by gardencitymovements
Summary:
Three months. He’ll stay three months. Just long enough for that shrimpy Zhang Chengling to wean into this new world, and then he’ll leave. Just three months he’ll allow himself that brassy, beautiful line cook, who barked the most flirtatious insult at Zhou Zishu as he charged down the cracked asphalt with a towering pallet jack of wholesale soy sauce boxes; his voice magnetic like an army general’s, clear above the rumbling gallop of his condiment fleet.
-
chaperoning a new orphan across the Pacific runs into complications.
Readers Comments:
This author writes SO much lyrical, slow modern AU that doesn't shy away from canon's sharp edges and it's all very good but this is the quintessential one of their fics for me. Zhou Zishu arrives in California to escort Chengling and babysit him for a while; meets cook Wen Kexing and his collection of found family, gets attached to Chengling, and decides to stay instead. Excellent ensemble cast that comes with the romance, delicious-sounding food, slowly falling into a life you want instead of just drifting alone.
dear heaven → written by foreverstudent
Summary:
In a darker world where the Combined Six Cultivation Method fails and the snowy mountains become the burial mounds for his shifu and shishu, Chengling trains his martial arts under Ye Baiyi to be able to do only one thing: go back in time and save his found family.
Readers Comments:
I love time travel fic and I especially love time travel fic where a member of the younger generation goes back to help the older one. Here, Chengling trains with Ye Baiyi after a bad-ending AU until he can, like, use Combined Six to travel back and save Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing and ends up in his younger body. So there's some excellent bittersweet seeing people you love again, some "hmm, my disciple doesn't seem quite right," and fix-it for a thing the author broke in the first place along with things canon broke, which is always fun. Also: I really enjoy seeing their version of adult, fully-trained and powerful Chengling.
you’re the trouble that i always find → written by sundiscus
Summary:
“Do you know him?” Jin Wang asks.
The ringing in Zhou Zishu's ears gets louder. “No, Wangye,” he says.
At Zhou Zishu’s voice, the prisoner freezes.
Or: Jin Wang tries another way to get Zhou Zishu back.
Readers Comments:
This is tagged "falling in love with your soulmate all over again in the middle of a nightmare" and that is so accurate. Instead of what actually happened when he captured Zhou Zishu, Jin Wang decides to try to bring Zhou Zishu back to him by essentially like...drugging him into visions where he can confront and kill Wen Kexing. Except, that's not always what happens, and it definitely doesn't work. There's elements of time loop, and dream sharing, and a thousand ways things can go right and wrong, and Jin Wang being unable to break the loyalty and love Zhou Zishu feels towards Wen Kexing even when Zhou Zishu doesn't quite remember or understand. It's twisty and painful in a fun way and honestly a very Wenzhou getting-together story.

to ensnare a mama → written by silk_suture
Summary:
Zhou Zishu, suddenly aware that he’s staring, catches himself because what is he doing creeping at a random dad but also! Is he married? He must be! There are two kids! But where is the mom? the...other dad? Why does he care?
He picks up his goods and walks to the parking lot only to see them again. They're 3 cars away! Zhou Zishu discreetly looks over and the little girl is already staring at him. He tries to smile sheepishly and the little girl’s mouth, in her cute purple overalls, goes “o” and suddenly grabs her baba's shoulders and points at Zhou Zishu.
"Mama!"
They all freeze.
In which: The world didn't give her a mother? No problem! Independent toddler Ah-Xiang assigns one anyway.
Readers Comments:
This fic is such a happy read! It's funny and fluffy and in between that we also get ZZS's insecurity to if WKX actually wants him. The premise itself is hilarious and I smiled while thinking back on this fic several days later.
Spring Festival: A Time for New Beginnings → written by LuckyDragon
Summary:
It’s during the Spring Festival that Xingming picks the wrong pocket. He’s fifteen, and he thinks he knows a good mark from a bad one. He spots the old man in the crowded market — he’s big but slow, walking with a careful gait that suggests a hidden limp. However, when Xingming liberates the man’s purse and ducks into an alleyway, the man is already there waiting for him.
Readers Comments:
This fic hit me right in the feelings. It explores the lives of Han Ying and the rest of Tian Chuang through the eyes of Bi Xingming. It is beautifully written and I love how the author really fleshed out Bi Xingming, he is perceptive and funny as a POV. The fic is full of melancholy and it made me ugly cry. I love it.
to be seen is the penalty → written by northofallmusic (tofsla)
Summary:
Han Ying, recovering from his wounds after escaping to Siji Manor, finds himself struggling with his feelings for Zhou Zishu and with his understanding of his place in the world.
Readers Comments:
This is a fic where Han Ying lives and gets to be a part of Siji manor. It's so well written and full of angst (hello Han Ying's unrequited feelings), but also of hope. Han Ying's feelings punced me in the gut as he tries to navigate his place in Siji manor and around WenZhou, when he has detailed insight to the abuse ZZS suffered in the past. The fic is very raw, yet tender at the same time. Which is a super effective combination for making it stay in your thoughts.

“Stop laughing at me!!!”  Y/n exclaimed in mock anger before bursting out laughing, knowing she did look pretty ridiculous.
“I can’t help it you just…. You look like an elephant!” Tom cackled from his reclined position lying on the couch, whilst his 8 month pregnant fiancé struggled to get up from her seated position on the floor - where she had spent the last half an hour wrapping presents for her nephews birthday.
“You know a supportive soon to be father would’ve helped me up!” Replying with a scowl that didn’t last long, Y/n finally standing up took the three steps to the couch before uncerimoniously collapsing into it.
Grinning with this absolute sparkle in his eye, Tom leant forward and slid up to Y/n to pull her into his side. His hand came to rest upon her massive bump - at this point it was almost a rule that if he were touching Y/n he also had to be touching the bump. Tom claimed it to be skin to skin contact and although Y/n were pretty sure that didn’t come into effect until after the baby was born, she wasn’t complaining either.
“It’s a shame your stuck with me then huh?” He murmured into the top of Y/n’s head, pressing a kiss to the crown of her head while tracing meaningless patterns on her shirt over the bump. Tom was beyond excited to become a Dad, family had always meant everything to him growing up (and now). There was nothing he wanted more , therefore, to call them a family of three - or more accurately four, not forgetting Tess of course.
“Oh how I regret ever taking up that extra shift at the club” She mused sarcastically, enjoying how he feigned offence in return.
The way the two had met was so incredibly cliche that it was almost painful, whenever anyone asked how they met she always winced internally. But it was their truth, Y/n had been a caddy at the golf course Tom frequented with his brothers. The nature of his ‘reputation’ meant the caddies always had to sign NDA’s to be paired with Tom’s group and the chosen few were those personally recommended by the golf course. She’d always stuck out to him, mainly because she seemed to be biting her tongue as they worked their way round the course. Caddies, also by job description, were not to speak unless spoken to; to be polite and courteous but not chatty. So, given how professioial she was, had taken some convincing for Tom to drag it out why she looked in physical pain whenever they played the 13th hole.
~~
“Look somethings on your mind I can tell! If you hate me I can arrange another caddy I just -“ He followed her march to back from the hole toward the little buggy, ahead of his brothers and Dad who were making small talk from behind.
“FINE! Okay fine.” Reaching the end of her tether, Y/n snapped, whipping her body round to face him. “It’s your grip! On this hole especially you always play the driver with you pinky too far down the shaft, it’s why you always end up in the bunker on the 13th! It’s bloody infuriating because them I’m the one that has to clean the buggy you’ve trampled sand into!”
“Oh…. I-I … I wasn’t expecting that” Tom had spoken quietly, in an unfamiliar tone to Y/n. Over hours she’d spent on the course with them over the months, Y/n had gotten used to his storytelling voice when recounting an insane experience to his family that he’d had in the world of Hollywood; his grumpy voice when he played badly, which was often; and then his gloating voice - most definitely the worst and intolerable. This voice though, was different.
“I-I’m so sorry I have no right, I just-“ She’d out her foot in it …. badly. The young actor was one of the most clubs most prestigious and valued members; and she’d just insulted him. Clearly, she was also about to be in search of another job.
“No no I appreciate your tip… I didn’t even realise you play?” His gracious smile calmed her nerves a little, though Y/n still wrung her hands together as she replied.
“Well we aren’t supposed to talk about it but the club let us employees loose after hours… I practice quite a bit”
“Seeing as you think my game is so shitty, you fancy a round next time?”
~~
Flash forward 3 and half years and a proposal, they were now taking their next massive leaps in the world together. Bringing a whole new life into it. It was bloody terrifying, they both openly admitted. But it was also exciting, new, incredible and… and made them even closer. Now they had to be in each others lives forever, no escaping.
“How many days left?” Craning her neck back on his shoulder so Y/n could meet his brown eyes, she knew the answer would be immediate.
“15 till the due date and the app said they’re the size of a rhubarb but I don’t really know what that means.” He knew more about the pregnancy and birth than she did. He had about a dozen different apps on his phone (including one pointlessly comparing the size of the baby to carrots/ watermelons/ onions), had read 4 different books (which for Tom was the equivalent to reading Newton’s book ‘philisphica Mathematica’.)
Ever since she’d told him about the pregnancy Tom had excelled every expectation Y/n had of him… massively. Without even having a conversation surrounding it, he had explicitly cancelled all major work commitments within 2 months of the due date and until around a year after. He had flown back and fourth across the world so he could pop in and check on you. He’d also set his whole family on becoming your minders when he was away - Y/n wouldn’t have been able to go a day avoiding a Holland (or Osterfield) if she had tried.
The pregnancy thus far hadn’t been the easiest though, hence why Y/n still appreciated to constant worrying texts and calls. During the first trimester the morning sickness had been literal hell; and then you’d had a little bit of a scare with pre-eclampsia during the second. It landed you a 3 day stay in hospital and a very very panicked Tom rushing back from New York on the first possible flight.
So now? Y/n wanted the baby out. She wanted family life as parents. (At which point hopefully Tom would stop comparing the size of your child to an assortment of different fruit and veg)
“You know, you really are going to be the best dad in the world Thomas Stanely Holland.”
“And you Y/f/n y/m/n y/l/n are already a pretty impressive mum.”
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
It was 3 o’clock the next morning when Y/n awoke with a sudden groan instinctively rubbing her stomach in an attempt to get them easing up. Now too familiar with Braxton-Hicks contractions, the weird cramping that waxes and wanes but never letting her get any rest - Y/n knew she was in for a long night. With a muted sigh she carefully lifted Tom’s arm off her side, cautious not to disturb him. The poor boy had been up most nights with her, just because baby wasn’t letting her sleep, it didn’t mean Tom wasn’t deserving of rest either.
So making furtive movements at a snails pace, she attempted to tip toe out the room - yet as Tom had pointed out before, she looked almost like an elephant, so everything was relative. Surprisingly though, she was successful, escaping onto the soft cream carpet of their hallway before choosing to venture into the room opposite theirs. It had once been a spare room, though more correctly termed the ‘shit room’ because that’s where all the accumulated shit they got was thrown. Now however, Tom and his brothers had taken on the mammoth task of clearing it out and redecorating - creating the most beautiful nursery one could ever see. Complete with a rocking chair which Y/n made a beeline for, now allowing herself to audible groan at the tight sensation deep inside her.
Normally they would ease after a half an hour or so, yet this time, after what was surely more like an hour and a half they started to…. ramp up. What was a tight pressure sensation quickly became one more forceful volatile and full of pain. She put it off for about 3 or 4 cycles of these, pursing her lips and breathing deeply as she tried to convince herself they’d just simply fizzle away. This couldn’t be the real thing could it? It was too soon - as Tom had said she wasn’t due for another 15 days. It wasn’t happening… was it?
The answer was pretty comprehensively and cohesively given when Y/n tried to stand up, in the hope of walking the ache off, she felt an incredibly tight crunch as her insides seemed to wring themselves together. Oh … and a surge of water soaked her pyjama bottoms.
“Fuckfuckfuckfuck FUCKKKK TOMMMM!! TOM-ah shit-  MY WATERS!!! TOOOMMMM”The pain had amped up to a very very impressive levels, forcing Y/n to clutch her sides as she kept bending and straightening back up… as if that would help. Her lonesome agony didn’t last long though, a flustered Tom hurtled in the room - his hair sticking up all over the place and although his eyes were puffy from sleep he still had them glued open impressively wide.
“No its-its too- its too early!” In pure disbelief, Tom shook his head staring across at her face, contorted in pain.
“Yeh because-“ She gulped and exhaled in as much of a controlled manner she could through pursed lips; before answering his stupid statement. “Because I can just HOLD IT IN FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS SHALL I?” It took a while for Tom to process, looking down at the puddle of clear fluid on the floor and damp patch on her plaid bottoms while it was Y/n’s turn to look upon his it utter disbelief at his stupidity.
“Oh shit shitshitshitshitshitshit!!!!” His words grew with increased volume and place whilst he stayed frozen, his arms reaching out lightly toward Y/n without touching her though. “What do we do?!”
He of course had revised repeatedly and extensively what he was supposed to do when this happened - yet in the moment all knowledge and planning evaporated from his mind. Now wasn’t the time for taking the mick of her terrified fiancé though, Y/n was too blinded by pain as she leaned on the dresser.
“Get the-ah FUCKING hell - phone we need to time them and phone the … the-MIDWIFE.” It was hard to direct a frantic and terrified man when one feels as though her insides are collapsing in on themselves.
Tom gulped, nodding shakily, whilst trying to take deep breaths because although he was fucking terrified it wasn’t him that was giving birth. He had to step up now.
It took barely 10 minutes from the midwife picking up to a frantic Tom for her to assess that they needed to get into the hospital asap. During the pregnancy, all of Tom’s rich friends had recommended paying for a private hospital like the ‘Portland hospital’. The idea was it was a much more luxurious and private experience - of course coming with a heavy price tag. For Tom money was not an issue, so he’d suggested to Y/n and met the strongest rejection of all his life. The NHS was by far the only choice in Y/n’s mind - of course it busier, a lot less serene and not as private; but if god forbid something did happen, that was where all the experts and resources were. The idea of being able to pay for better access to healthcare actually repulsed Y/n and everything she stood for… so in short Tom was met with a very blunt refusal.
Once they arrived on the ward, all it took was one look at Y/n’s inflated belly and the way her body was squirming in the wheelchair Tom was pushing, whilst laden with the baby bags they’d had packed and prepared for weeks, for the pair to be rushed into a side room. After an intense 20 minutes of getting Y/n settled, getting her full medical history and inspection of her vagina the hmidwife’s head popped up from between her legs with a kind smile. She explained in a calming and gentle tone that Y/n was 5 cms dilated and had got to that point fast, yet now things looked to be slowing down a bit. With final words of advice of try to relax she left the pair to it.
They both looked at each other, a matching expression of confusion and relative terror blatantly clear in both their eyes. It had them both burst out laughing, if Y/n then scowled at the pain that shot through her side.
“This is really happening huh?” Tom murmured as he rounded the bed to gently run his hands through her sticky hair.
“I don’t know unless you really do want me to postpone their arrival for a short while?” Tom rolled his eyes and shook his head, although not really able to surpress the chuckle at his finances humour - even if it was at his expense.
“Glad to see you can still be as sarcastic as ever.” He laughed but before she could reply another wave of contractions hit making her instead just scream - grabbing his hand so tightly Tom was certain a bone or two were crushed in the process.
It was another hour or two of the same traumatic sight of watching the women he loved more than anything in the world be in such extreme pain. God knows how his appreciate for his mother grew in that moment - she had had four kids overall, two of them twins! Tom dared to think of the scenes in that room of twin brothers birth. Having to deal with both Sam and Harrys large heads…
Harrison had arrived in the meantime, he was to be the child’s godfather and Y/n was more than happy to have him there - even if it was more of a support to Tom than Y/n. Quite expectantly though, he was just as terrified and useless as Tom - so instead of having one idiot to deal with, the midwives now had double trouble of terrified men.
And yet after another 1 hour or so Y/n was being told to make one final push. Baring down on the gas and air tube, Y/n squeezed her eyes shut together whilst simultaneously contracting every muscle in her body with what little energy she had left. Hearing Tom and Harrisons words of encouragement; the midwifes orders and her own long and continuous scream, Y/n pushed with all she had. It was excruciating and torturous yet she kept going until the most beautiful sound was the only thing left reverberating round the room.
Her babies cry.
Tom looked at the scene in awe, feeling an almost out of body experience as the midwife unfolded from her position leant over the bed looking up to Tom.
“Do you want to cut the cord Dad?” Releasing a breathy laugh, tears collecting in his eyes he looked down at Y/n. She looked a mess - hair flying all over the place; sweaty sheen and a ruined look on her face; panting hard as she caught her breath. But to Tom? Never had he seen her look more beautiful, especially when she managed a small smile, nodding encouragingly at him. So he moved round to the end of the bed as the nurse motioned, while Harrison squeezed Y/n’s shoulder with the proudest look on his face.
It was the first time Tom had ever seen his child. And really, seeing a wrinkly little pink thing covered in all sorts of gunge - it shouldn’t be such a magical moment. But here he was, a single tear escaping over his lower lashes at the sight of them wriggling about. The midwife gave him a second, before gently handing him the medical scissors and directing him as to what to do. Once done, the lady announced the room it was a beautiful baby girl.
The next hour or so was a bit of a blur, the whole situation felt extremely surreal to everyone - but perhaps most to Y/n. Although the baby was premature the doctors had checked and were confident was perfectly healthy, so after both Y/n and Tom having their turn holding her (Tom finally got his real skin to skin time) they brought in a little incubator where she could rest while Y/n was recovering. Due to her prematurity, as a safety net, the doctors did want to keep the baby girl in overnight for observation, which meant the whole party would be staying too.
Y/n loved nothing more than watching Tom and Haz with their baby. The way they delicately cradled her in their strong arms and the way their eyes softened so inexplicably. Y/n swore that had she not just pushed a watermelon sized human out her vagina, the way Tom looked while holding their daughter would make her pregnant all over again.
“I still can’t believe you two created a real life human.” Harrison mused while standing with the baby girl in his arms, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he watched her sleep soundly.
“To be fair it was mainly Y/n” Tom laughed as he squeezed Y/n’s hand (wincing internally as it hurt his already injured hand - Y/n had an almost death grip)
“Oh no credit where credits due… he was involved for a whole 3 minutes or so.” Harrison snorted and Tom scowled at her, yet her cheeky if exhausted grin instantly erased any annoyance.
“Don’t make sexual jokes in front of our child!” He retorted, Harrison still laughing at his friend. Haz loved Y/n too - she made Tom a better version of himself. And now, she’d made him a dad.
**triggering part starts here
After all the excitement of the early morning it was more than fair to say Y/n was shattered, Tom not doing much better. So after a little bit, Tom joined Y/n on the bed and they instantly fell asleep to the light beeping of their babies heart monitor. Harrison stayed in the arm chair in the corner of the room, wheeling the little incubator right in front of him to just stare at the little girl. He had been texting Tom’s family too, giving them details of when they’d be allowed to come and meet the little one, who had just woken up to all Tom’s frantic texts from the night before.
Eventually though he was ped ousnapt of his happy daze, looking over to the bed and seeing Tom groan as he shifted on the mattress that was technically only spacious enough for one.
“You good mate?” Harrison spoke in a low voice, keen not to disturb either the baby of Y/n - she had earned a bit of peace. Tom just mumbled in response, rubbing his eyes as he sat up before letting out a deeper groan.
“-hat the fuck” Tom lifted up the blanket covering them both as Harrison looked on inquisitively. But then Tom leapt off the bed, started violently shouting Y/n as he shook her in a look of desperation. It was violent and harsh, Harrison was horrified as he immediately stood up in an action to pull Tom off her.
“Tom what are you-“
“Get help Haz.” Tom turned around to look at Haz, only at which point could the blonde haired boy make out why Tom looked so insane. Because his trousers, and the bedsheets that were now not hidden by the blankets, was covered in a red sticky substance. Jaw dropping, Haz slalomed round the incubator to stand at the foot of the bed.
It honestly looked like a horror scene. Y/n’s lower half was completely saturated in a bright red liquid that slowly was creeping further and further through the sheets. Her face looked pale, Haz cursing himself for not noticing earlier and her breathing… it looked so slow it was barely noticeable. The silence was only endured for a few moments, before Tom turned back to violently shaking the dead weight below him yelling her name repeatedly and frantically.
As soon as the alarm was raised more and more staff piled into the room, each one carrying a new level of importance and seniority - instantly taking control of the room and shouting orders. Tom had long since been pulled away from the bed by a nurse, who was trying to speak to him and calm him down, but was completely ignored as he focused on the scene over their shoulder.
“Looking like a primary PP bleed but she’s lost at least 3 pints already…. Somone bleep the aenestists and lets get moving to the OR please!.. We’ll need bloods crossmatch 5 units….”
Tom heard to the controlled sense of urgency in the lead doctors voice and he felt as though his heart was being torn straight from his chest. Harrison took over from the nurse, half restraining - half hugging him as the nurse ushered them completely out the room.  Shouting over Tom’s desperate pleas to let the doctors do their thing. He fought hard against Harrison but ultimately his hold was enough to keep him back, the two watching from he corridor as Y/n’s bed was wheeled rapidly out the room - what seemed like at least 12 staff members bustling after it.
Harrison knew it was hopeless to try and talk to Tom, as he paced up and down the ‘relatives room’ the two had been confined to. They didn’t have a clue what was going on, no-one seemed to want to tell them - making the worst case option appear the most likeliest in Harrison’s head. A nurse had said the baby, as yet unnamed, had been taken down the neonatal unit so that it was one thing less for them to worry about ; but refused to say anything about Y/n, saying a doctor would come and explain soon.
It must’ve been 20 mins, even if to the two men it felt like a lifetime, when a round and short, greying man with big black rimmed rectangular glasses entered the room. Tom was too in his own head to even notice, pacing up and down the room while constantly running a hand through his hair as he tried to keep his breath in regular time - even if his brain was on overdrive.  It took Harrison calling his name twice to make him snap out of it, looking up with desperate pleading eyes to notice the stout man, a sympathetic smile on his face.
“Are you Mrs y/L/n’s husband?”
“Fiance”
“I’m Dr Webber the consultant gynaecologist,  shall we take a seat sir?” Tom stayed rigid, standing opposite him in an offensive manner.
“She’s dead isn’t she?” At Tom’s cold words, Haz’s breath halted in his chest. It had been what they’d both been thinking, of course, it was natural when you see someone with more blood out their body than inside it. The doctor seemed a little shocked at his frankness, pressing his lips together as he let out a sigh.
“No sir she’s not but she is very very unwell. Please, let’s sit down so we can talk about it because I understand it’s a lot to take in.” It took a couple of movements of Tom stood frozen staring but Dr Webber held firm, waiting until Tom took a seat next to Haz before he moved - drawing a chair from across the room so he could face both men.
“First off I’m sorry you were removed from the room and put in here for so long but these situations are incredibly hard and to get Y/n the best care we needed the whole room.”
“Doctor I just… I just need to know what’s going on.” He couldn’t deal with the state of unknowing, Tom was going insane, he didn’t care for the small talk.
“Sorry right, so what we think happened was your fiancé developed a condition called ‘placental accreta’. In simple terms, a bit of the placenta is stuck in the uterus and causes bleeding.”
“That much bleeding?” Haz couldn’t help himself from butting in, he knew this wasn’t really his place, that he was just being there for Tom. But at the same time that was his godchilds mum, it mattered.
“Honestly? Usually not, Y/n had very severe bleed… So she has been taken in for surgery, where the very talented surgeons are trying patch up the affected blood vessels. I’m afraid at this point that’s all I can really say.”
“So… she’s going to be okay?” It was desperate plea for something that, even if Tom wouldn’t admit, he didn’t really believe - it seemed as if none of the three in the room did.
“It’s not that easy I’m afraid. Assuming the surgeons can stabilise the bleeding and fix it…. with blood loss like she has suffered we… we don’t know what the effects of that will be. We tried to prevent as much damage to her brain and body as possible with transfusing blood into her and it was good that she was in hospital so could get treatment almost immediately…. But I’m afraid it’s simply too early to say. The first hurdle is going to be getting her out of surgery safely, only then can we deal with whatever happens next.”
Tom had so many emotions flashing through his head. He knew the doctor was trying to go slow to make the information a little more digestible  but it was all so bloody incomprehensible. So when the greying man asked  both men if they had any questions, neither took up his offer. Surely they both would after hours of processing and analysing but for right now? They were stunned into silence.
“Okay sir, now I hope you don’t mind me saying this but it really is important for you to hear. You are now a father, as Y/n is a mother. This situation is never easy but as a first time dad I need you to be aware that now your fiancé can’t be your only priority. We are all here to support you but please, just remember that.”
Harrison was so glad the doctor had said that, it was so completely true - yet Haz knew he didn’t have enough power to have said it to Tom. The whole thing was impossible and at the centre was an innocent, beautiful but totally dependant baby.
“What happens now then?” Haz had to ask on behalf of his friend, who was now completely overwhelmed. Dr Webber sighed, leaning back and rubbing his knees before answering.
“If the surgery is successful it’ll be at a best estimate two hours before we will have news for you , then she will be taken into intensive care where everything else would be assessed and further investigations would happen. You can both stay here or go get food, maybe go down and see the baby in the neonatal ICU? I personally promise that as soon as any of us get any news you will be the first to know.”
He was met with the sort of silence that makes you shiver. Sighing heavily, the doctor rubbed his knees, apparently preparing to leave. “This possibly one of the worst case scenarios that could’ve happened but Y/n is in the best hands and we will do everything for her. If you do think of anything you want clarification on, grab one of the nurses and they’ll come and find me.”
And then he left.
The room was deathly silent. Harrison couldn’t dare to look over at Tom - he knew what he would see and honestly seeing Tom like that would only make it worse. God knows how long they sat in those plastic lined, lightly padded hospital chairs. Both in silence. Just thinking… or more like worrying… or more like dreading. It was Tom who actually broke the silence first, his voice barely audible but still the meaning was crisp and clear.
“I can’t do it Haz” For the first time since the doctor was with them, Harrison looked at Tom, catching him directly in the eye. That hurt… Tom’s eyes looked so, so… hopeless. He knew what his broken friend was saying, but honestly Haz didn’t want to hear it so he did not respond. That didn’t stop Tom though, he continued. “I can’t do it. … I-I can’t be a dad without her… I just can’t.”
What the hell was Harrison supposed to say? There wasn’t really a guidebook to this situation. He was clueless. So, cautiously Harrison just leaned over, wrapping his arms round Tom as he all but collapsed into his friends chest. Tom was sobbing harshly as Harrison looked up at the ageing ceiling tiles, trying to surpress his own emotions because now clearly wasn’t about him.
“You can Tom… you have to.” His friend didn’t respond, well apart from harsh sobs that racked his frame. And so Harrison just let Tom cry, folded awkwardly and uncomfortably over the arm rest of the chairs, occasionally yelling into his chest at the unjustness of the situation.
It wasn’t fair. But it had still happened. And there was still a baby girl by herself downstairs.

Sometimes I really want to read a short summary of what to expect from a game… and thankfully people can also submit their summaries of games they played and help me (and others) find games that cater to their interests!

what to expect from THE TALOS PRINCIPLE [and Road to Gehenna]
Story-driven puzzle game. It has exploration elements as well, with many eastern eggs of pop culture.
The difficulty curve of the game is quite slow and progressive, however, there are some timing puzzles that can be very frustrating.
If you want to play this game only for its narrative story but the frustration that these puzzles cause is too much, the game has a console that allows fly-cheats. I highly recommend cheating in this game rather than abandoning it. The story is too precious to leave it incomplete, it's worthy to explore it in detail. The difficulty of the puzzles can be ridiculous sometimes. However, be warned:  once you activate the cheats, a marker will appear on your screen informing the presence of cheats, and it won’t disappear even when you disable them.
This game is highly philosophical. It has a great research work on philosophy and ancient history such as Greek, Roman, and Egyptian civilisations. It also has a broad content on religion, neurosciences, psychology, and sociology. The interdisciplinary information it manages amazed me. The metaphorical analogy of the whole game with Christianity is immense too, and so well written. All these details can be appreciated only when you are deep into the game, when small information from neuroscience resounds with bits of hypothetical religious passages that the game uses in other instances.
It has a lot of content to read. Part of the narrative happens as you read the many files from the broken archive in the computer of this universe.
This game has a DLC called Road to Gehenna. The plot of this DLC is a parallel story to the main game, which gives more hope and more humanity to the game than the main game implies originally. In Road to Gehenna, you can interact  with a community of discarded programs: all those original program children that were deleted in the main game were “put in prison”. It gives an explanation why you can't see other people doing puzzles while you solve them during the main game.
You can play this game in Win7
Its camera can be set as first person or third person [on left/right shoulder or just behind]. Something to highlight: this game has a special section in its settings to avoid motion sickness. Very thoughtful detail.
Graphically speaking, it's beautiful, and not as demanding as I thought it would be.
It's a long game, the main game can be beaten in around 20 hours if you only focus on the main objectives. The DLC Road to Gehenna is around 10 hrs [only main objectives as well]. These 30 hours total can be duplicated if you think about collecting all the secrets and bonus levels plus the normal difficulties you will find with some particularly hard puzzles.
The main game as well as the DLC have four different endings.
Highly recommended, even if you cheat. Forget the puzzles if you don’t like them, cheat and play it as if it were a book of sci-fi, where AIs, instead of causing the extinction of humanity, saved it in their own inorganic way.
  ——- Plot? ——-
You awake as a robot in a place filled with ruins. A voice from the sky tells you that He [Elohim/god]  has created you and has given you the gardens for you to explore. However, there is only one place you should not access: the tower. He only informs you that inside the tower you will find death, while in exploring the gardens, you will find eternal life. On the other hand, you have access to a terminal where an AI keeps tempting you to explore the places that Elohim tells you not to. As you can see, the beginning of the plot feels like a modern sci-fi version of Adan’s tale, with the voice in the sky as God, and the terminal as the serpent in the original Garden.  As you solve puzzles and have access to new places and different levels of this garden, you try to find the truth of this whole biblical situation.
——- Gameplay? ——-
Typical game of environmental puzzles, where you manipulate devices that block electromagnetic barriers, or that jam killing devices installed in these gardens. You can also manipulate cubes and switches to solve the puzzle. There is a lot of running around, and a lot of thinking outside the box. As you progress, and the difficulty increases, there is also a redundancy of tools  that instead of helping you, confuse you more in how to solve the puzzle.
——- Characters? ——-
Many. You are the main one, of course, leading the narrative. But there are dozens of  users that came before you that left small messages along the way. You have The Shepherd and Samsara as two characters with constant presence. There is also Elohim, who is the voice in the sky [acting as God], and then there is also Alexandra Drennen, the project lead of this world you are living, who appears in “time capsules”: audio archives inside the world, in which she narrates and wonders about life, the project, humanity, etc.. There are even more chars in the DLC, since you interact with all those users that were apparently deleted from the main game: Admin, Dog, Lilith, Borg, 401, The_Blacksmith, Galatea, and so, so many more.
 ——- LGBT? ——-
Not much, since this world is where AIs live and have no personal idea  or preference over sex and gender. And exactly for this reason there is a constant presence of 3 genders: man, woman and “something else”. The presence of a non-gender is constant in all the archive information.
——- Sadness level? ——-
Pretty high. Immense if existential philosophy hits you hard. You will cry at some point, as it tends to happen with all philosophical stuff with existential content. This game hits deeply the fragility of humanity.
——- Happy ending? Deaths? ——-
This is immensely hard to say. For me it was a good ending, even though it’s sad. You can pick different endings.
Humanity was extinguished [so yeah, massive death], but all the culture that was preserved in this project still lives in this AI that now walks on Earth. An AI that remembers humanity, which was the main objective of this project: to preserve what humanity created and developed:  from scientific knowledge, art, literature, to mundane blogs on the internet, or general garbage born from pop culture. It’s a win when everything else died.  You can also pick staying in this simulation forever, or being one of the Guardians of it. Or you can pick destroying everything.  Similar endings can be obtained for the DLC.
