i think alot about gege's characters and their parallels / juxtapositions

I'm convinced Kashimo is supposed to be the representative of gojo's inner feelings and thoughts.

For a number of reasons..

Reason number 1:

The similar appearance.

The fact that making two characters look similar is a very common way for mangakas to indicate that these characters have the same values and the same way of thinking or even a similar role (or a character arc).

An example that comes to mind is Bakugo and Kudo from my hero academy:

This happens A LOT in anime & manga and I'm pretty sure that gege wanted us to think of Gojo whenever we see Kashimo.

With blue eyes, and the the kanji for purple cloud in his surname

He even has the frog face

Reason number 2:

I think Kashimo is basically Gojo but with more freedom, he can be feral whenever he wants and he even kills people.

And that's why he always ends up expressing what we know Gojo is thinking but isn't speaking out loud.

And once you see it you can't unsee it.

Here are some examples:

Gojo appears to be having such a great time, that Yuji wonders if he's thinking of Megumi at all. and Kashimo Starts acting as though he's relieving Satoru of the guilt of enjoying himself in this situation???

(This panel is actually what opened my third eye and made me theorize that maybe Kashimo is meant to tell us what Satoru isn't saying)

And I wasn't disappointed with the next chapters...

He's the only one that gets Satoru here.

Also there's this interesting thing here:

"Kashimo vs Sukuna!! Facing off in their true forms!!"

I find it interesting that Sukuna only turned into his true form after he killed Satoru...

It's like he only came forth after Satoru's "true" form (Kashimo) came out idk idk.

And the fact that he used the weapon Yorozu gave him on Kashimo. Hmmm

Reason number 3:

Gege always draws a connection between them.

Satoru's fight and Kashimo's are treated as one..

After Satoru died; the Kashimo fight starts immediately, and he gets killed in two chapters.

He gets to talk about love and loneliness with Sukuna after he died (we didn't get that with gojo it went to Kashimo)

The fight of the strongest is over.

We cut to Kenjaku's fight.

Gege literally made a character whose only goal was to fight Sukuna then he killed him in a single chapter.

That tells me gege only made him for that conversation about love 🤷‍♀️

The conclusion:

If we accept that Kashimo is the representative of Gojo's inner self then...

We can safely assume that Gojo would've thought the following regarding Sukuna's true form:

(He's Using a special kind of visual prowess too...)

Think about it...

What Kashimo was saying about people being like dirt to him was kind of bad.

If that was truly how Gojo views people then I bet he was feeling guilty about it, no wonder he didn't say that shit to anyone.

Hey! I see you have many asks so I don't wanna add more to the list so this one is quick :)

I just want to say thank you genuinely from bottom of my heart for the gojo meta posts. Especially the one about his students and how he's not the best and perfect teacher for them. I see a lot of discourse that paints him as 'poor little mew mew' and all I want to say to that discourse is: yes and!!!! Yes he is poor little mew mew but let's not close our eyes on his flaws!!!

God I can't wait for this manga to be over already.

Gojo is a sad pathetic wet cat that pretends to be dry. He’s also a little bit racist, slightly misogynistic, has questionable morals, and is extremely annoying. I love him dearly.

Him trying his best and being cringefail is the appeal to me. Though I mostly blame the higher ups and his Clan for why he is the way he is at this point. (That Gojo Booklet did numbers on me.) 3 hours of sleep daily, constantly high on Reverse Cursed Energy and sugar. Raised as a weapon by an emotionally distant family that kept him walled off from the outside world, completely tanking his chances of proper socialization. He was set up for failure.

It’s just really unfortunate that the students (and Ijichi) got caught in the crossfires of Gojo’s unique and twisted psychological problems. And that kind of seems to be the point? How systemic issues ruin people’s lives.

I don’t want the manga to end though. There are too many plot things that should be expanded on. I’m hoping for a spin off for Heian Era lore, one-shots to fill in gaps, or more light novels. It’s hard not to want more when there are oodles of unexplored character interactions that are downright criminal.

Reactions to this chapter show me many don't actually understand Kashimo's character

That was Kashimo's perfect death. It was the whole reason they incarnated, to find someone more powerful than them, who would be worthy to kill them. Sukuna is exactly that person as Kashimo's gushing makes very clear. Kashimo does not want to grow old and die of leukaemia or whatever, they already did that. That's also why they saved their CT because it would have killed them no matter what, but back in the Edo era and before Sukuna reincarnated there was no need to use it because nobody could push them to that limit. Kashimo entered that match seeking out death. Gojo's death confirmed to them that using their CT was finally necessary and Sukuna the one worthy to kill them. It was short, but intense. Nothing about this is humiliating in Kashimo's eyes. Sukuna even indulged them in answering their questions about what it means to be the strongest and discussed their world view.

I would've liked one more chapter (and involvement of Hakari because he shows that Kashimo isn't as asocial as they like to think, kind of what Sukuna alludes to as well), but that was a good death for Kashimo and what their character was always gonna lead to. They didn't die without regrets, but they learned something in their death.

kashimo saw sukuna with his four arms, stomach mouth, and overwhelming power, and immediately thought he was the most beautiful man he’s ever seen in the middle of their fight, happily accepting death by his hands. and honestly i respect it. It feels like Gege directly speaking to me through the page going “my OC is so cool” and I can’t argue against it

the more i think about it, maybe gojou did take a hit to his mental health in the prison realm. maybe he had too much time to think and to miss the people no longer in his life. and then he got out and found out more of them were gone. he failed to prevent all of those loses, one way or the other. maybe he saw the hollowness of his own strength. strength that does not protect, that does not let him keep people around him.

maybe he didn't believe that megumi can be saved so he didn't try, and didn't prepare himself for the fight, just tried to wing it.

that last flash back kinda shows that he wasn't with the living in his thoughts, he was with the dead. maybe that's why he orchestrated the killing of the elders but appointed gakuganji because he couldn't make himself care anymore.

it's a shame that seeing the reflection of himself in sukuna wasn't a wake-up call, something to get him out of the stupor. didn't make him strive not to be sukuna. not to be detached and selfish, not to give in to his worst instincts.

i wish this fight never happened and gege actually explored gojou a bit instead. i wish we never established who was stronger. i wish gojou's last fight didn't make him look so bad.

i've seen ppl clown on kashimo's line mirroring geto's "are you the strongest because you're gojo satoru?" but isn't this just further confirmation that geto is the reason gojo was able to know weakness and care about and live among other people?

according to sukuna, caring about connecting with others is a just a needless luxury for the strongest. the strongest aren't supposed to yearn for the time they were part of a "we", or fall to pieces at the sight of their best friend's ghost, or finally get defeated by someone stronger than them and still say "if you were there i might have been satisfied". and yet

this difference is clear even down to kashimo and gojo's chosen metaphors. to kashimo other people are just clumps of dirt while gojo compares other people to flowers that he tends to and admires. like people have criticized these last couple of chapters for supposedly making it out like gojo never cared about anything but himself but i think that's the furthest thing from the actual truth. to me this just proves once again that gojo got a taste of what it feels like to be human during those three years of his youth and he spent the rest of his life chasing that feeling because at the end of the day gojo satoru is just a human

In season 2 we see gojo say toji didn’t kill him because he didn’t cut off his head. Gojos head is not cut off. Meaning he can still heal.

HOWEVER.

I think him healing would come with a price. Aka his six eye ability.

I think gojo will live but lose his ability.
