jake sighs as he rises from his bed, making sure not to wake jay who’s fast asleep. he envies how jay can be sleeping so peacefully when jake is experiencing the worst jet lag of his life. you being out at 4 in the morning and his racing mind doesn't help him try to get some shut eye either.

he dresses quickly, making sure it's quiet when he exits the dorms. it’s not his finest fashion moment but he could care less about what he looks like. he’s only going out to see you and to possibly save you from whatever crazy antics you and the girls are up to.

jake isn’t going to lie when he says he hasn’t made the best effort to see you after getting back from tour. but he also didn’t lie when he said his schedule was super jam packed these days. he should’ve immediately ran to you as soon as he landed but he just didn’t have it in him. guilt gnawed away at his heart as he hailed a cab to lead him to the club you were having the time of your life at.

jake enters the back of the club smoothly without drawing any attention. thankfully your friends secured a vip table upstairs in a secluded area, making it easy for clubgoers to not notice that an idol was going to a club at godforsaken hours.

“and you,” jake turns and gets too close to the man’s face. “she’s clearly too inebriated to make the right decisions. how DARE you take advantage of her like that?!” you’re confused as to why he’s flipping the script and blaming the stranger but jake rips you away from everyone too fast for you to think another second. you stumble as you’re dragged away to a dark corner.

the two of you are standing in awkward silence, no one daring to say a word. your eyes are looking everywhere but jake. you’re too afraid to see what kind of expression his face has. “jake i-” “no. you don’t get to speak right now. there’s nothing you could say to justify what i just saw.”

ragged breaths begin to come out of your mouth and your chest is tightening. “jake please baby i just- i was so drunk and these guys came up to us and…” your sentence trails off, every word you’re saying just sounds so ridiculous at the moment. he’s right. you couldn’t say anything to excuse your wrongful actions.

“and to think i came here at fuck ass o’ clock just to come and see you. i’ve barely gotten an ounce of sleep these days but i gave that up to come because you were BEGGING for me to be here.” his voice is angry and you know he has every right to be screaming at you. at this point tears are threatening to spill from both of your guys’ eyes. “jake… i know i know and i’m so sorry i swear nothing like that-”

“NO. no just no,” he pauses carefully choosing the words he’s about to say next. “you’re right. there won’t be a next time… we’re done.” the tears that brimmed your lashes are now falling. the alcohol that once ran through you is now gone. you move to grab his hand but he takes a step back. the distance between you two grows larger and he seems out of reach.

“jake please we can work this out! please don’t leave me because of this.” your pleas are ringing in his ears but he ignores them. “we can’t come back from this yn. how could you think i’d ever trust you from now on?! don’t contact me ever. have a nice life.” the loud music pounds on the walls just like your heart is in your chest. you’re left alone sobbing, wondering how you managed to fuck up the best relationship you’ve ever had.

jake stumbles out of the club, trying to clutch onto anything to help him out. the fresh breeze of the night blows onto his face and helps him regain his breath. he struggles to get his thoughts together as he walks down the sidewalk back to the dorms.

maybe he was too harsh with the way he spoke to you but he knew it had to be done. seeing you cling onto someone that wasn't him was his ticket out. he knows that you're absolutely going to be broken for awhile but you'll be okay, right? he knows that you're going to blame yourself for this for who knows how long but you're going to be fine in the end, right?

he convinces himself that it's better you than him because now,

he'll never have to admit what he was doing while he was away from you on tour.

• he doesnt have a big sweet tooth but he LOVES chocolate like can't live without it. if you're also a chocolate person, he'll buy your fav ones for you and lowkey judges you for it ("why would you like this one???? the one i like is wayyy better you should get those")

• he's most definitely a friend's to lovers type guy. he never really thought he would be, though. he's a hopeless romantic and falls in love with anyone and everyone BUT he's also, as mentioned before, more hopeless than romantic. he'll yearn for the person from a distance, so he doesn't really think that he would go and fall in love with his best friend, of all people. you fall first he falls harder type beat yk?

• he's kind of gives off this confident, cocky and kind of intimidating vibe about him. when you first met him you just knew he thought a little too highly of himself. but after getting to know him, he's super vulnerable and soft and actually tries to be close to you. his intimidating Mr. i-fold-my-arms-over-my-chest-to-show-off-my-biceps persona is just a front, like he thinks being that coccky guy will make people think he's like mysterious or something and want to be his friend/partner

• he's an architecture major :D i know alot of people have diff headcanons of him doing pol-sci/law (which are all valid tbh i agree with those hcs) but!!! i think he chose architecture because he has the right amount of passion for it. it's the closest thing to art he can have. he loves art but he's also aware that it doesn't...pay well, neither does he want to loose his passion for art. hes heard one too many stories of people choosing art and regretting it because their passion for art is no longer just a passion. Jean's scared he'd lose his love for it.

• isn't really used to physical touch, and if you're a touchy feely person, he's a little surprised when you hold him for the first time. he quickly grows into loving your touch tho and initiates cuddles :)

• hes kinda super smart. like he scores really well in class and always has. not only that, but he's gifted athletically as well

• he's more of a listener than a talker, i think. hed initiate conversation, ask you about you day and let you take away the conversation. doesn't really mind if it's "all about you", but if you ask him about anything, he'd gladly talk.

• hes actually SO shy when it comes to actually doing relationshippy things. the first time you held hands as a couple and not just friends, he had a nervous breakdown. he couldn't even look you in the eyes when he asked you out on a date, even if it was just a casual movie night at home

• he also is protective of his hair!!! he used to have dyed hair, but it didn't go well. he TRIED to bleach his hair but failed and half of his hair came out :')) he never dyes his hair anymore but he does freshen up his mullet every now and then. doesn't let anyone but his mom and you touch his hair.

• asks you if you can help him with oiling his hair because he saw one of those tiktoks saying they work really well. if you're anything like me and are used to oiling your hair every week, you'd massage his hair and his eyes close and his entire body relaxes the moment your hands weave through his hair <3

• LOVES showing you off. either in little ways (by swinging your hands together while walking) or by literally making his entire Instagram page about you. all of his six posts (he rarely posts, but whenever he does it's all about you) have you in them. the cheesiest captions, too. if that wasn't enough, he'd have (y/n)'s with your fav colour heart emoji next to your name in his bio to let literally everyone know who he's with.

• he actually loves to cook!!!! as said before, he'd very organized, so i feel like he'd also be into meal prepping. he watched those aesthetically pleasing videos of people rearranging their fridges with ungodly amounts of plastic cabinets. his own fridge is sort of a mess becahse he doesn't know what goes where :') but he does meal prep, and sometimes even packs you lunches with lil notes

• speaking of notes, he's not really good at talking about his love for you. like he'd show it in so many ways but he can't say it out loud. not only does he get uncharacteristically shy, he's always had issues with saying the words "i love you" out loud, so he either writes about it or draws you <3 you'd find random notes and letters written to you, sometimes with just. a cheesy joke, sometimes he actually Tries and writes a whole letter for you pouring out all the things he can't say out loud.

• the start of your friendship, you two bicker alot. it's clear you care about each other, but he loves teasing you because he knows you'll shoot back.

• he wears really thin eyeliner on special occasions <3 he doesn't like bold looks, but he does like how subtly the eyeliner makes his eyes look different. if yiure good at makeup, he'd ask you to help him.

• has a plethora of diff hats tbh like he collects them like an addiction. he has a fedora and beanies and bucket hats and normal embroidered hats. he has so many it's concerning

• he's very good at driving. when the two of you started getting closer, he'd ask you on long late night drives, either for take-out or just to listen to music and talk. he enjoys your company while driving. if you usually have motion sickness in cars, you will never feel nauseous in his car. he drives very smoothly, not too fast and not too slow. he's kind of a perfectionist (not extremely) and literally screams at Connie to slow down when he goes even a little over the speed limit. he drives the whole time in every road trip.

• his fav dessert is cheesecake. his unpopular opinion is that they're the perfect ratio of sweet and savoury, crunchy and soft.

• hes one of those people to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. on the couch, at the table, no matter how loud it is or how bright it is. he's a light sleeper and also a snorer. if you're cuddling together, he'd either lay on top of you or wraps not one but both of his arms around you. one under your neck to provide a nice neck cushion, and one draped over your stomach.

• he runs warm, which is both a blessing and a cruse. in summers, even if he'd want to cuddle with you, you feel the need to get as far away as him because he's just so warm. you'd wake up in your own sweat if you do decide to take the risk and let him cuddle you. in winters though, his warmth is very welcome.

• loves it when you hug his arm while walking. if you're tired and kind of lean into him, expect him to eat that shit UP because he loves your warmth as much as you love his. loves it when you lean into him or hug his bicep. even flexes his muscles for effect (you definitely tease him for that)

• is not a fan of thunderstorms, he kind of has bad memories. either from being left out while the ither kids play in the rain, either from the rumbling and the scary sound that comes with thunders that resembles the sound of his angry father or its just how inconvenient it is.

• his dad wasn't really in his life that much, always away on business. every time he would come home, he'd srot of criticize jean's hobbies :( his mom eventually seperated from Jean's father and started her own bakery, hence Jean's love for chocolates.

• he panics very hard when you feel sick. he jumps right into his mama bird genes and makes you a soup from either his mother's recipie or he'd call your mother and ask her for her own sick day recipies. he'd feed it to you and refuse to leave you alone until you've had your meds.

• he loves kissing your forearm for some reason. you loop your hands around his neck after kissing him, so it's the closest to his mouth. he turns his head slightly, closing his eyes as he pecks your forearm :3 it's kinda a weird spot to like kissing, but it's really endearing when it comes from him.

• he has a couple small tattoos here and there. two of the five he has have actual meaning whereas the other three are just for fun

Jealousy flooded Harry at their familiarity with each other's bodies. Resentment at their ease in getting each other off — the passion, the eagerness, the joy. All so different from his relationship with Severus.

Harry is super Slytherin here! Using the memories in order to learn what makes Snape tick! I really loved the dirtybadhotness of this fic! 450 words. Rated E. HP Kinktober collection.

  Coda to "Soft Touch" by @perverse-idyll

He'd thrown the bait. Would Snape catch it? Yes, he would, and throw it back.

Soft Touch is the Most ethical Massage Therapy fic ever :D Dirty, bad, hot, wrong. So it's incredible to get this really sweet and wholesome coda. You can see the undercurrents of the more complicated themes but also really sweet. 3300 words. Rated T. This is as fluffy as PI Snarry gets :D :D

  Candles Lit Against the Dark by @perverse-idyll

Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank/Minerva McGonagall. 13600 words. Rated G. My favorite fic of 2023. From Snapecase 2023 fest collection. Beautiful, beautiful fic which is kind of my personal epilogue for the books at this point. Lost count of rereads. It's packed with beautiful friendships, people focusing on the sweet instead of the bitter, people moving on together, people forgiving each other. It's an incredible fic with perfect execution on some classic tropes like matchmaking and friends who are going to help you whether or not you asked for it. Also some not so classic tropes like celebrating a female character's life/happiness/love being the center of a rich fic. Ultimately this is Minerva McGonagall's fic and I am so here for it.

  Once of Eden by eldritcher.

Lily/Eileen. 2000 words. Rated M. Poignant and super sharp character study of Lily. Lots of storms inside her head about her family/war/Petunia/Snape. This is right before her marriage but she has this feeling she doesn't fit into that life and she doesn't want to let go of her past. Like a lot of us, she's also seeing her past/childhood through these nostalgic glasses but at the same time she's also noticing adults in her life and has this bittersweet feeling that she's an adult now/making adult choices now. Serious Catcher in the Rye vibes. This fic has the Lily for me. Really like Harry, really Gryffindor. It's a really beautiful, sensitive, unique, powerfully human fic.

Tonks/Fleur, Tonks/Charlie, Tonks/Remus, Tonks/OFC. 2900 words. Legit character studies of bi characters are super rare in our fandom. I don't really go for self-discovery type fics but this one is whoa! Love, love, love and highly recommend this one. It's out and proud and amazing. <3 From Ladies of HP Fest Collection.

Florean Fortescue/Snape. 9000 words. Rated G. From Hoggywartyxmas 2022 fest collection. This is definitely my fav slash fic of the year <3 I feel like a lot of times especially with OTPs the preslash part is kind of assumed to happen in the background. This fic does an incredibly amazing job of setting up the preslash and it's just ultra convincing. New Snape ship dropped <3

Insanely amazing character studies. Rated G. The Barty Crouch Jr. character study, Disappointing Fathers, is probably my all time fav genfic with him. I came out of this super sympathetic for Barty which is something that never happened to me before. So well written and brilliantly characterized.

3000 words. Rated M. Phineas Nigellus Black character study with a beautiful friendship with Snape. Dark and intense but the fic has my fav Snape resurrection of all time <3 From Snapecase 2023 fest collection.

  Birds of Paradise by eldritcher

2700 words. Rated G. Fawkes character study with a beautiful friendship with Albus Dumbledore. Really beautiful, ethereal fic. eldritcher can write non-human characters with their own "type" of emotional connect. Normally they use this superpower for writing interspecies :D But this is a beautiful gen fic. From Pandemic, my most beloved. Obviously each and every eldritcher fic has a really special place in my heart but Pandemic is just insanely generous giving something special at the right time when it was needed and it made a huge difference for me personally. Love and anarchy, always!

  The Octaves and the Circumsion of Our Lord by eldritcher

The Dark Lord is circumcised. Nobody knows how everybody knows, but everybody knows.

2300 words. Rated M. Regulus Black character study with a beautiful friendship with Kreacher. Dark and intense fic about Regulus getting radicalized but also showing how he actually buys into those beliefs. Normally I avoid Regulus fics because the characterizations just don't work for me. This is exactly how I imagine Canon Regulus.

Surrealistic, beautiful character study of Cho. It's got Harry/Cho, Cedric/Cho for pairings but this is 100% her fic. 1100 words. Rated G.

Exploring Cho's feelings for Harry in wake of her grief for Cedric's death, with symbolism from myth of Ariadne, Theseus and the Minotaur

  Four Christmases Pomona Sprout Loved and One She Hated by @kellychambliss.

Aberforth/Pomona. 6800 words. Rated T. This fic keeps it real. I really felt her pain because when you are an adult making new friends is super hard! The BEST Aberforth Dumbledore Snarkiest!!!! <3 I am a big fan of how this author writes The Abe D! Actually I am a big fan of this author. FAVE! <3 A lot of times rarepairs can feel kind of hard to believe because the characters don't have canon time together. You are totally going to be convinced. ALSO BANTER. I love relationship progression with banter. Things get bittersweet because of the war but it's got a really beautiful earned happy ending <3 My fav het fic of the year. Best fic to end this list :D

I picked out names for the characters you said didn’t have last names since you allowed random entries (if that’s ok). Also if some of the name definitions weren’t on purpose, maybe this will make you happy to read for extra meanings :D

(Sorry this sucks butt this is my first time researching name/word names pretty deeply, well relatively for me)

Beau - Handsome in French, fine and beautiful, and in Latin it means pretty. It also is an old fashioned way of saying boyfriend, partner, or lover

Dent - A blow of impact from a weapon or implement in combat. Also means mark or a form of damage

So this just means Beau is a beautiful man, and he makes a significant mark, and this leads into the fact that he is career material and well enough trained. And he might be in a relationship/is a player

Shimmer - A soft slightly wavering light

Aleela- Meaning, she cries

This just means light, of course, I think this is just a name given to the character instead of having meaning, but once I find out her last name I can add more meaning. Also the word ‘wavering’ being in the first definition I see of Shimmer is a bit funny. And I choose the name Aleela, because ‘she cries’ is a really vague statement over what she cries about. So I think it fits my first interpretation of her character

Garde - Guardianship, safeguarding, covering, authority. Defending aggressions and attacks. Responsibility and protection

Riggs - Meaning, of the ridge or one of the ridge. There isn’t many other definitions of it. But it can also be correlated with the fact that he is ‘rigging’ the game against Claudia (like the ass he is)

He’s definitely not protecting Claudia loyally. Anyways I assume this just means he has great defense and can cover attacks easy, because he’s a vicious little backstabbing viper he doesn’t get the title of a guard though

Claudia - In both Latin and Spanish it means lame, but also in Latin it means enclosure. And in Hebrew it means limp- to be shut in or be shut in. Never truly in and never truly out. Not too popular yet not too unusual. Though in a baby name website, girls named Claudia have compassionate and empathic nature, and good leadership skills

Benetiz - This name has several different cultures around it. In Spanish it means ‘Son of Benito’. In Latin it means blessed

So Claudia has never felt truly belonging in any group. Even in the career pack she’s not as good as Garde, Sheelin, and Polina. But she isn’t at the level of Beau and Taurus. And in her childhood she often felt outcasted due to her family history

Alex - To ward off, keep away. The defender of men. A protector. And for a person explaining why they thought ‘Alex’ would be a great name for a thg oc from district 3 is because it goes after ‘Alexa’

Bentley - Coarse grass meadow. Cleverness, luxury, and is apparently in kudos (affiliation) with the number eleven. Also ‘get bent’ is a phrase that can derive from this

Yeah no, the name definition doesn’t fit his character, but it is a catchy name for a d3 character. Wished he got more scenes though

Peg - A small cylindrical object that is tampered at one end, it is usually to help hold things together. It is also a point of limit of a scale. And to fix something

Debois - In French the word means, wooden table. But it also means a topographic name for someone who works with wood

Again name definition doesn’t match much, but hey, it doesn’t matter as long as nobody searches it up as deeply as me :)

Polina - In Latin/Greek origins, the name means small and humble, a bundle of joy. In Russian it means, little stone/pebble

Carrol - This means champion or victor in the baby website section. It also means free man in German. And dancing and singing in a circle in old english

So her last name matches her more because I don’t think she’s humble at all. And for the baby website section, it was the American meaning. But this just means she’s victor/champion material

Sheelin - Ancient Irish translation to, Fairy Pool *insert sparkles*. It is also a lake in central Ireland

Montgomery - Meaning mountain belonging to the ruler. In both old French and British it means belonging to nobility/royalty. This also means manpower in some viking language

So I assume that Sheelin is definitely carefree to a degree due to ‘Fairy Pool’ being his name’s only meaning and definition I could find. And him belonging to a ruler makes sense with his and Polina’s dynamic. And manpower makes sense as well

Muriel - The star of the sea. Sparkling or shinning sea. And also the fragrance of God. And in a definition of the name I saw it said exactly ‘an educated, willing worker who sees what is really happening during the Russian revolution but is afraid to speak out against it’

Callahan - Bright headed, strife, and contention. Bright headed usually means of light or of knowledge. Strife means negative disagreement over fundamental issues. Contention means heated disagreement, or assertion of any sort

I think it’s funny her name is correlated a lot to the sea. But let’s see if her name has anything to do with stars. Also I can see her as an educated worker, and since she’s rich she probably knows more than the average districts citizen, but does not speak up about it. And with her last name, it has a lot to do with arguments and knowledge. (Honestly the person who picked the name out gave her a badass last name though)

Isak - Means laughter from Icelandic/Hebrew origins. Also from the bible, Isaac was the baby of two people who laughed when God told him they would have a baby. Issac is also the gift from God. And with the spelling Isaaq, the name means honest and trustworthy

Truitt - Honest little one, dry old wood, small and quick, extremely loyal, river bend, and is associated with the number five. All of these definitions are from several cultures/languages

So Isak is trustworthy, by that I think it means he sucks at lying. And it’s funny his last name has so many definitions, especially the fact that a few languages agreed the meaning would be ‘little man’ and ‘trustworthy one’. And with his first name, I think about how Isaac’s parents laughed at God’s face and got punished (without being hurt), then proven wrong with their child being Isaac

Lexie - Lexie is actually a greek girl name, meaning the defender of men. It also means luxury and elegance. It also means to finish whatever you start in another culture. And it’s a more feminine version of ‘Luxus’ which is a car brand, which also means luxury and excess in Latin

Cohen - Means ‘priest’ in several languages. But it means wild goose in Irish, and it is a ‘royal’ name in Jewish

So Lexie’s name could mean to finish what you started, which is kinda badass. And her last name is a wild goose (chase) plus it means royalty in Jewish, which adds on to her family status. It would be funny to see her give an alliance a wild goose chase though

Asshole - Jerk or idiot. Not only just stupid or annoying, but also very mean

Greason - Was apparently a war cry or slogan originally. And it also means a quest for higher truth and spiritual victory. When you are also doing reasonably well in an industry. And it also means a yeti-like creature- a tundra dweller. There are several more definitions (surprisingly)

Sawney - Naively or sentimentally foolish. And another defender of mankind. It is also a derogatory word for Scotsman. It's usually associated with the word ‘jock’ and is informal in most of its definitions

So Greason is a yelling loud person, he has many faces/personalities. He is a truth seeker (I can maybe see that in his character). And he can be associated with a yeti. Also he is a foolish jock

okay well obviously to start with i'd recommend "Beach Life-In-Death" from the album "Twin Fantasy" (2018 version not 2011 . i like both versions but the 2018 is better production quality) . this is like . starter pack car seat headrest this song will change your entire fucking life . no dont go look at how long it is . its fine dont worry about it . this was the song that got me into csh its the song ive chosen to be my top song of the year ive listened to it 3 times everyday since the start of the year without missing any times . its a really fucking good song

actually ! that whole album is like . mindblowingly life changingly good and it literally ruined my entire life for . well i havent actually recovered ! months !!! twin fantasy is an album about falling in love with a fictionalized version of a person and watching the relationship crumble . its like . devastating i can't recommend it enough . if youre only going to listen to 3 songs off the album my person favs are "Beach Life-In-Death" (as mentioned), "Nervous Young Inhumans" and "Famous Prophets (Stars)" . also . throw "Sober to Death" in there as well just for fun as a bonus .

Teens of Denial is also a fantastic album i EXTREMELY recommend listening to "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" and "the Ballad of the Costa Concordia" . again . lives were changed . "Cosmic Hero", "1937 State Park" and "Fill in the Blank" also periodically live in my mind rent fucking free but yknow . i cant exactly recommend the entire album (EXCEPT I CAN !!! YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THE WHOLE ALBUM !!!!!!)

moving away from album recs my personal favs recently have been "Crows - Rest In Bigger Pieces Mix" from the album "Nervous Young Man" . what if for just one night you turned into an animal yknow ??? its really good . and the other one is "The Ending of Dramamine" from the album "How to Leave Town" because ive been really Feeling the effects of my mental illness recently . "There Must Be More Than Blood" from "Making a Door Less Open" is also a very good song and SUPER easy to blorbo-ify if i do say so myself . "Over Exposed (Enjoy)" from "Monomania" is also . well . and somewhere down the line you'll look back/and say you did the best that you could and you'll be wrong/you're always wrong . so . theres that

confession i havent listened to their entire discography yet ive listened to twin fantasy, teens of denial, and MaDLO . i think monomania is next on my to listen to list .

some final general pointers if youre new to csh id recommend looking up the lyrics on your first listen through anything because will toledo hates enunciating like its personally wronged him . i recommend listening to twin fantasy alone in your room with all the lights off for peak effect (depression) . a general reminder csh is fucking Awful and i hate it and everytime i listen to it i go i cant believe i enjoy this and that its changed my life . this sounds awful . vast majority of csh songs are over 5 minutes and normally the REALLY good ones are 10+ minutes . you get used to it .

Okaaaay let's do star charts and signals after dark!

Hi hi Lexi, thank you for the ask <33 (As if I haven't subjected you to all of these and then some /lh)

First up, let's talk Star Chart. One of the many listener squared rarepairs created by me and @mr-laveau (It's fun, y'all gotta try it sometime okay /srs /lh). In short: Star Chart refers to the pairing of Avior and two Starlight OCs, Sherlock (Veau's) and Marcel (Mine).

I can hear some of you asking, "PK, how does that work? You can't have two Starlights, the story wouldn't make sense." To that I say, think bigger. How that pairing works (and many listener squared rarepairs) is one of the two versions of a listener takes the "canon" position. The other is adapted to either enhance or play around with canon. Suspend your disbelief for a moment and imagine that somehow, all three of them got pulled into the meridian. In this case, Marcel is the Starlight that the meridian wanted. However, Sherlock is the one that tries to escape the first time. As it goes in canon, it backfires, but now Avior and Marcel have to watch this person they fell in love with barely moving and just out of reach. When Sherlock gets brought back and they realize he's got no memory of before, you get the funkiest flavor of added hidden truths and subtle paranoia and pining.

Marcel ultimately merges with the meridian, talks with the Sovereigns, they all get out, y'all know how Sovereign State is going as of late. I'm biased towards this ship because Starlight is one of my favorite listeners, Avior is one of my favorite d(a)emons, and Sovereign State is one of my favorite storylines. This ship scratches a specific part of my brain by expanding on so many elements of each of those things.

Now, Signals After Dark? Pairing involving Vincent, Ayl ("Lovely"), and Maia ("Darlin").

The condensed version of this is Maia and Ayl had a chance meeting when they were both a lot younger, Vincent and Maia had a brief fling years before he meets Ayl (ended mutually because it wasn't the vibe at the time), and eventually the three cross paths once Maia is back in Dahlia after Quinn's initial attack on her unempowered friend.

This ship is one of my personal favs because you've got:

Maia finding comfort in a space completely separated from the pack (which is a breath of relief in some ways)

Pushing back on Vincent's "golden child"/"model prince" reputation by having him question what lengths he'd go to look after the ones he loves

Sprinkles of Maia being tripped up by being that close with another vampire after Quinn/given all that Quinn did to her (Bonus: It gets even more difficult post-Inversion /lh)

And some background Sam/David action /lh /pos

This trio scratches my brain is such a lovely way (pun not intended). I'm very biased towards making rarepairs with Maia (my other favorite listener alongside Marcel), but I think it's also an interesting exploration of Vincent as a character. Ahh you liked CinPhen (I think)!! To be honest I wasn’t sure how to feel about Fritz’s route in the original game, but his Evermore route is soooo well-written and did his character so much good :D

HI HI HI!!! YEAH! thank you so much again for recommending me this game (amongst others i have lined up to play hehe) because oh MAN did i have a blast playing them. well written AND with a very fun concept. fantastic flawed mc with great development as well.

also HAHA LEGIT. SAME. SAAAAAME. i literally went down the same path you did. the original game didn't do much justice to fritz and waltz because their routes were so jam packed with plot and tying up loose ends for other characters. consequentially they didn't get as much screen time for development or for them to bond with lucette. so suffice to say, i was VERY happy with evermore fixing that!!

fritz was an easy favorite for evermore. they handled the whole varg thing perfectly. its darker tone compared to other routes was well done. and most importantly, fritz's personality and dynamic with lucette was fleshed out. sooo good.

my favorite in the original, i think, was klaude. was a huge sucker for his character development, dynamic with lucette, and the specifics of how his curse affected the plot.

HAHA I'LL STOP CHATTING YOUR EAR OFF... though i DO need to know who your favs are... i think mine are fritz, klaude, and waltz hehe, though the others are just as enjoyable. goes to show how strong the writing in these games are :,)

13. What’s the most surprising smut pairing you’ve written? 

I think at this point, Gandalf/Círdan! I told a friend on the phone that I was going to write that pairing a couple months ago and was cackling at her reaction. Otherwise, maybe Daeron/Thingol (and thank you for your support of both of these!) Both are the only smut fics for these ships in their AO3 tags, so I guess I'm happy to feel like they fill some kind of niche!

22. Share a DVD commentary on [one of your smut fic/smutty scene from a longer work]. (Scripts and Tongues, the aforementioned Gandalf/Círdan)

Heheh. So this fic was born of 2 things basically: a past discussion with @searchingforserendipity25 that set up Gandalf/Círdan as A Ship in my mind, ft. beach imagery, and then my preparing to write some things for smut week and having the VISION implanted in my brain of like "sex joke featuring 'I'm missing your STAFF'". And then I thought it'd be charming to have this sexting take place sometime around LotR, in familiar events--I wasn't at first decided when and where, or if it might be like a "throughout FotR" kind of thing, or in Moria, but, I'm rereading LotR quite slowly now on audiobook and so had the episode of Gandalf recounting at Elrond's Council his research in Gondor's library on the brain. Initially, I wasn't settled on that setting/moment but the more I wrote it (and the more innuendos I could work in related to it) I quickly decided I was keeping it. :D I'd thought initially I might write a longer, sexier scene, but realized I liked it as a briefer piece just moving into the sexier part, focused on the part I was most excited to write and share (the sexting).

Also, I'm honestly full of thoughts about them now: in my head there's like a dramatic whole soap opera thing where Gandalf arrives in Middle-earth and is perhaps greeted with a little skepticism from Círdan (who instantly sees he is a Maia and who's already lived thru like the whole First Age, drowning of Turgon's and his own mariners, sinking of Beleriand etc), vs. Evil Rivalmance smooth-talking Love Interest/Ex Saruman, Círdan coming to trust Gandalf and give him Narya as a token of MARRIAGE um trust, becoming snarky yet relied-upon confidants and then naturally boyfriends, Saruman very personal inevitable yet slay betrayal, later angst and hurt/comfort (pain when the osanwe bond is severed as Gandalf 'dies' and returns??), seaside retirement and coming to know Gandalf's Maia form in Valinor after they sail... IDK IDK. There's so much there and I'm coming to have a lot of feelings about Gandalf as a character. I wish I wrote faster and had the motivation to do some kind of 50k longfic old man yaoi for them; I doubt that will happen but I hope you can imagine and experience for yourself the beautiful vision that it would be.

Maedhros/Maglor:

Do Not Bait Me With Your Laughter by The_First_And_The_Last - SEARINGLY HOT times in Valinor ft. slightly dubcon Maedhros seduction of trans!Maglor. Absolutely formative!!

Hunting Time installment 2 by Divano_Messiah - Yes I did read this via googletranslate which makes some interesting choices, but the sheer poetry of this omegaverse series transcends language and culture. In this fic, Maedhros returns to the family home to realize Celegorm has taken advantage of Maglor, who is his own, and he restakes his claim. Just brilliantly indulgent, and contains the line "Nelyafinwe, are you fucking insane?" from Celegorm that rewired my brain about unhinged Maedhros potential.

No Pearls, No Feathers by dur - For something entirely different, rough and highly charged moments between Maedhros and Maglor in late stage Beleriand. Personally, I think all of the demon boys can speak any language used on Earth. Like imagine Gavin travelling to Spain for example. Considering how big he is on consent and for simplicity sake, he would need to be able to speak Spanish to communicate with those he wants to feed on.

Do all demons use this? No. I'm pretty sure Vega's words just get translated into the person's native language on the rare occasions he does communicate with people.

Outside of the d(a)emons? Oh here we go.

This could just be me pushing a French Baabe agenda, but they give off the vibe of knowing another language. And as soon as Angel finds out, they immediate want Baabe to hold onto that card for whenever they need to lay the smack into Christian.

Sweetheart is another one, but I think they needed to learn multiple languages for their job. (Same with Cutie. Probably Cutie even more so since people think in their native language, and if they need to investigate someone mind, language barriers would be a pain in the ass.) Sweetheart would purposefully mistranslate words to people, just for shits and giggles. Even better if it's Milo.

But idk if any of the wolf boyos would hide it since theyve all known each other since they were kids. I also don't think they would mess with each other's mates to that extent.

Lovely and Vincent though? Those two would totally fuck with each other or other clan members when it comes to languages. Sam would probably give them the silent treatment after the fifth time in one afternoon. It got to be too much.

I feel like Huxley thought Lasko was speaking a different language when they first met simply from how fast our local fan company was talking. Especially since Huxley's speed of talking is much slower.

Honey - they only learned curse words in multiple languages (hahahaha me tho 😅)

Darlin - they got sick of falling for Lovely and Vincent's bullshit and decided to start learning the language (up in the air what it is) also since it was confirmed that they're a menace, they also started doing the same to Sam and the rest of the pack. Seems like this is a talk they had earlier. It’s the first time the speech bubbles look like this (I think?), and since think bubbles look normally, I’m guessing this is to show it’s a conversation from earlier.

Zazie just kicking him back is so funny, and then Vash landing on top of Wolfwood...so many dorky moments :D And look! Even the eyes of the sandworm are looking funnily ar Vash!

Saved these pages because I like how the setting looks a bit different to what we’re used! All towns looked kinda similiar in style until now, but this one stands out a bit (is supposed to, storywise).

For whatever reason you’re posing so cool like this, I’ll take it, Wolfwood. Also, your yaoi shoulders are showing.

“We’re being dragged along this road and I’ll cover it all in blood” is such a cool sentence. Wolfwood really is like a fierce wolf. He’s doing anything to protect his pack, his family and what he must, and has accepted that is it is role to do so even if it means to kill and spill blood. I love you, silly little guy!

Also a very strong arc for Milly. Maaaan I can’t wait for her to appear in Stampede.

I finally understood where all that water came from! There was a water container that was damaged in this attack.

As a consequence we’re left with these really cool panels of Wolfwood being soaking wet. And, I love how the water turns the bottom suddenly into a light source!

I like my favs being tortured but still...poor woowoo

ooh ok this here: Did Wolfwood actually let out a scream? Are these soundeffects where he throws back his head sounds of a scream? Because if not, I might actually lean to another explanation of what Vash is hearing now: there’s this telepathy thing Vash has been associated with, and I’ve read from another person that, with a scene later in the manga, it would actually make sense to think that Vash could have the ability to hear thoughts. He can transmit thoughts and feelings with his sisters and his brother too, though they are all plants, so that’s more understandable. It could be a wide stretch and it’s definitely not something that is explicitly sayed throughout the series, but the way he is clutching his ear (making it seem more like the sound he is hearing is coming from inside his head) and how in the panel above we have only the wail of a baby but no shout of Wolfwood himself (though he might have screamed 2 pages earlier), I like to think he hears Wolfwood’s scream in his head. It’s just a neat image and headcanon.

She’s proven to be determined and she is def strong, but these battles of hatred and bloodlust (like said on the following page) are just not her world. You’re too kind a sould for this, Milly!

Hell yeah one of the most epic Wolfwood’s panels ever (there are a lot but this one ranges in the top).

And the following 2 pages are so neat! Wolfwood’s body is completely reacting on autopilot.

Autopilot because here he’s still not really conscious! It’s just shortly after that he actually regains consciousness. Also that panel of him lying there? Damn.

And another cool information that I forgot! Cool that Zazie can do that! So they can do that with Vash and Knives as well...

A thing I didn’t really understand in my first read: He’s searching for the punisher because he is blinded and can’t use the eyes for the moment! If you don’t understand this this is a bit confusing to read....

Took me my third reread to understand that this is Vash’s shadow lying on the cables here in the bottom panel. Also loving these city view panels and all the details (from this page but also every page before). Vash caught in a web!

He..he does! But he won’t because of his own promise. But yeah, Vash also feels anger, and maybe also fury, and maybe hatred and everything as well, but he doesn’t let himself act on it.

Concluding this volume with this beautiful view of Wolfwood being into thoughts. He looks so soft here, vulnerable too...as he is being part of a fate that he never wanted but can not escape.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a massive fan of @ghoulgeousimmaculate and her story PTPA. I absolutely adore Sis/Nia and it's been an honor writing fics in honor of the story universe she's in. I also love the other brides, particularly Babydoll. I was actually the one who made the request for T.L.C., which is where she's introduced. Getting Ghoulie's blessing to get my fics related to her counted as canon has been so amazing.

Also I don't know if it counts, but I love @britany1997 and her character Fishy. Yes, he's a fish, but he's full of personality and has an adorable connection with Paul. Any fic with him is a feel-good fic. I even commissioned @silvermaplealder to make this for her:

And I have an OC of my own! He's in Ghoulie's story universe. His name is Oliver but the nickname he's given by the pack is Puppy. He's the first groom to be added to the gang, and is made into a loyal servant to please and protect the queen. He's a gentle soul with a kind, humble personality, but he's also warped into an obsessive slave that would put his life on the line for the woman he loves. I'm actually making part two of his introduction soon!

He comes from a very poor life with a single father who lost his wife to cancer and had to take on multiple jobs to support himself and his son after the medical and funeral bills became too much. He was taught the value of hard work and kindness to others since you never know what someone is going through. After his father died, he moved from Pennsylvania to California and found work as a waiter in Santa Carla. In Ghoulie's stories she mentioned Sis has a particular fondness for redheads with freckles, and he's got plenty. So naturally, she's very smitten 💕

and now I'm gonna ramble about it in full under the cut :3

Okay okay okay so like the whole thing was just wonderful and considering the last music concert I saw live was when I was like 9, this was a HUGE experience!

So like I went with my dad (cause obviously he is my best choice lol) and I kinda know how he'll be late and all the rest if you say it starts at a certain time. So obviously I told him the concert started at 7:30pm, when in reality the doors opened at 7:30pm.

If there is one thing you should 100% do when going to a concert it is get there early cause we arrived at like 6:45pm and by the time the doors opened we were in the front 1/4 of the line that stretched ALLLLLL the way down the street. And I don't know if this happens at other places, but like I got this cool smiley face stamp to go in but other people got like the wrist band so I don't know what that really meant but it was cool regardless lol.

But anyways, cause we were so early, we got in before it got super packed so I had a choice of where I wanted to be cause the whole place was a mosh pit basically. BUT! There was this little upstairs loft bit that you could watch from the balcony and it had seating!!!

Now tbh I love my dad but I didn't want to go stand in the mosh pit the whole night by myself and knew he was just gonna sit at the back cause he had no idea who Half Alive was but I wanted to be with him.

So I absolutely SCORED when we got two chairs in the balcony bit, right in the middle!! This lady was sitting in a seat with one next to her free and it turned out she was the manager of the band opening the show which was so cool to meet and chat with her and she said she wasn't staying and gave us her seat and the spare one. Bless her TwT.

I got to sit the whole night without my legs getting sore, had THE best viewing spot with no one in front of me AND could get pics and vids without having to worry about the video cause it just balanced on the balcony bit so I could enjoy the show too!

Like yes I know I could have been in the mosh pit, but for me it was so much better to be where I was cause I got to share the moment with my Dad! (who had ear plugs in the whole time from all the screaming fans lol but he thoroughly enjoyed the night even tho he had no idea what to expect)

And now of course the actual performance

OH MY GOSH IT WAS CRAZY! HALF ALIVE IN PERSON IS JUST AN ABSOLUTE AMAZING EXPERIENCE AND I SO WISH I HAD GOTTEN THE VIP TREATMENT LIKE MAN I LOVED IT!!!!

Like you know how sometimes seeing bands live vs their music sounds different cause of like auto tune and stuff like that? WELL THERE WAS NONE OF THAT HERE! IT WAS ALL RAW VOCALS AND JUST MIND BLOWING!!! I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY I HAVE THE CLIPS AND BITS THAT I DO CAUSE LIKE AHHHHHH I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!!!

They didn't perform every song obviously but like there were bits and pieces of sings in some bits and like the way they performed each number and getting ready in between was flawless. Like it all flowed seamlessly into the next song and just AHH THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS I ADORE I ADORE I ADORE!!! And I loved that while this was their conditions of a Punk tour, we still got to hear older songs like Still Feel and Creature live too. (I would have died if they didn't perform creature I swear and it was the last song of the night and I just felt so happy hearing my fav song ever live. It was such a special moment)

And then my gosh if you've seen like the clips they've shared of the performances like nah man. They don't hold up to actually being there. The dancers were flippen INSANE!!!! Like just yessssssss! They absolutely slayed and it looked like they were having so much fun! It was awesome!!!!!

Oh and at one stage of the night (cause in perfect aussie fashion) we did our usual chant of Aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi and it was so funny seeing their faces cause they had no idea what was going on lol. I loved it.

Now if you follow half alive you'll also notice in their posts that none of them were wearing any shoes that night and you're probably wondering why. Answer: The theatre just said no with the dancers having any shoes cause the stage was carpeted. Do I understand this? Nope. But it happened lol. So we got socked feet all night.

Now of course I also got merch :3 And this is where that stamp thingy comes into play cause like at the start, being up stairs a guy came and called us and said: Who wants merch and then ushered us all down to get merch lol. I skipped such a long line I felt a lil bad but like: I got here early and I was lucky lol. So now I have a very expensive tshirt, but I love it lol. Did I take a pic of it? NOPE! I forgot lol but I can always share it later <3

I'm pretty sure a whole lot of other stuff also happened but this post is already pretty long lol. Overall you can tell I had an amazing time and I highly recommend to anyone to go see your fav bands live if you can cause it is such a special experience and you won't regret it. Being able to see Half Alive is easily one of my top fav experiences of all time so yes. I had a great time <3
