A Big Bang is a fandom event where authors and artists work together on a two-part project. When signing-up, authors submit a summary of the fic they’ll be working on during the event, as well as the rating and relevant tags. Fics are later claimed by artists during two rounds (if needed) of fic claims.

For authors:

Your final piece should be:

an Inception fanfic 

written for the Big Bang (no reposting of old works)

at least 1500 words

Other than that, we are open to all ships and gen stories!

IMPORTANT: During sign-ups and fic claims the authors are anonymous. This keeps things fun! We want artists to choose based on the fics alone. Don’t make posts that give away which fic is yours. After claims talk to your artist! Keep each other updated - the best thing about a fandom Bang is working with each other!

Frequently asked questions of authors:

1. How much do I need to write before signing-up?

We recommend writing a summary of your story, the rating, and a couple relevant tags. Remember, what you submit is what we send to the artists! Make it easy to understand your story.

2. Can I change my mind about my submission?

Before fic claims you can send us updates or even send us a different story altogether. All’s fair.

After fic claims, any big changes should be discussed with your artist. You cannot change the rating from G, T or M into explicit. If you believe your fic might go down that road submit the tag before fic claims.

3. Can my fic be a crossover?

Sure!

4. Can it be a continuation of an older work?

Yes, as long the original fic’s name is not included on new piece and the part submitted for the Big Bang has never been shared anywhere else before. Big Bang projects are secret until the reveal date.

5. Can it be OT3 / Major Character Death / Kink ?

Sure! Just keep in mind that the more specific your work is, the harder it may be for one of our artists to connect with it. This is true for anything you may come up with - crossovers, PWPs, squeamish themes, you name it. We encourage creativity! But use the appropriate tags when you send us your summary and consider being flexible if our artists might have a hard time with that one.

6. Can I submit multiple stories?

Nope!

7. Is there the possibility of my fic not being claimed?

We work with artists interested in all different kinds of fics! We also have very cool and open-minded pinch-hitters. In our recent years all fics were claimed.

That being said, yes, there is the possibility. It ties back into the OT3 / major character death / kink topic – the more specific your work is, the harder it may be for our artists to connect with it. Also, the harder it may be to actually depict the story. Be considerate of our artists when picking the fic to submit for the Big Bang.

8. Can I sign up as both author and artist?

Of course! Just make sure you have the time and resources available to fulfill all the roles you choose!

For artists:

You will be choosing one (or more!) fics to make art for. Between fic claims and the final posting date you and your author will have one and a half months to work on your collaboration.

Your piece should be:

Art drawn or painted, including digital art

Photo manips

Original music

Gifsets (if you’re making them! don’t steal gifs)

Fanvids of at least 45 seconds

Physical crafts like sculpture, knitting, and embroidery

If you want to create something we haven’t mentioned here, check in with us first, but chances are you’re fine. As long as it's something you can submit within the deadline it’s fair game.

How do claims work?

We will make an anonymized master post of all the story summaries available for the Big Bang. To make claims on them, send us an email with your top 3 picks. Fic claims happen on a first come first served basis so try to respond as soon as you can. If needed, we will have a second round of claims.

2. I'd really like to participate but I'm not sure of my availability - can I still sign-up as an artist pinch-hitter?

Absolutely! We can always use an extra help. If you sign-up (only) as a pinch-hitter we will contact you after both rounds of fic claims, or later in the event if we’re needing back-up.

3. Can I sign-up as both artist and author?

Of course! Just make sure you have the time and resources available to fulfill all the roles you choose!

Now until July 31st!

If you were considering doing something, but were too busy, etc, before or if this is your first time hearing of it, good news: You have a whole other month! (Until the day before the next full moon.)

This will take place between the dates of the next two full moons: June 3rd and July 3rd. (Edit: Now until July 31st!)

June’s is the Strawberry Moon, also called the Rose Moon and the Hot Moon.

July’s is the Buck Moon, also called the Hay Moon, Thunder Moon, Herb/Wyrt Moon, and Claiming Moon.

Depending on the region both are also known as the Mead Moon, hence the name and theme of the event. (The Mead Moon can also refer to the full moon closest to the summer solstice, which is in June most of the time, but is in July this year.) 

The summer solstice is June 21st, Midsummer Eve is June 23rd, and Midsummer Day is June 24th.

New or unpublished works are accepted for this event. Feel free to combine with other ongoing or upcoming events.

For Writers:

3,000 words minimum using 3 or more of the 21 prompts. 

This can be one work or multiple works of at least 1,000 words each. No maximum for word count or amount of works. 

For Artists:

Use 3 or more of the prompts to create visuals (drawings, gifsets, manips, vids/edits, moodboards, etc.) Can be one work or multiple. 

For Mixers:

There are 2 options for standalone fanmixes:

Use 3-7 prompts to make a playlist of 21 tracks. At least 3 tracks per prompt used. (For example: A playlist with 4 prompts — 5 songs for Rose, 7 songs for Full Moon, 3 songs for Thunder, and 6 songs for Altered Reality.) Arrange them however you like: all grouped together in segments, whatever flows best, randomly, etc.

Make a playlist of 21 songs with 1 song for every prompt in any order.

If you’re attaching a playlist to a fanfic or art post:

Do whatever you want, but you get extra cool points for 21 tracks and including 1 or more songs for every prompt that you use and/or 3 songs for at least one prompt.

Put your playlists on Spotify, YouTube or both so I can listen to them. 😉

Content:

This is an event for fans of Sterek, but it’s Sterek & Stuff for a reason. I’m a multishipper and some of you might be too, so the deal is if you pay the Sterek Toll you can do other Teen Wolf ships (or pre-ships and gen) in separate works in your series should you desire.

The Sterek Toll is:

At least 2 prompts and 1,000 words of Sterek for writers.

At least 2 prompts and 1 piece of art for artists.

Music is generally up to interpretation so unless you go out of your way to say it’s not for Sterek don’t worry about it, lol. But if mixers want a toll too then it’s 2-7 prompts and a 14 track playlist.  

All Sterek all the time is of course always welcome and there will be a Sterek Only subcollection on AO3 and separate Sterek and NonSterek posts on Tumblr. (Assuming anyone does NonSterek, lol.)

To count as a Sterek fanfic Stiles and Derek have to be together by the end of the work. The story should focus on them, but feel free to include other characters too. 

Sterek Plus and Sterek Poly go in the other ships category and is subject to the Sterek Toll.

Allowed:

Any background ship.

Crossovers as long as the focus is on Sterek (or other TW characters if you’ve paid the Sterek Toll.)

Angst, whump, and dark themes as long as the story (the last related work if it's part of a series) ends on an upbeat or hopeful note and there’s nothing from the Nope section.

Nope:

No permanent death of Stiles or Derek. If you’re doing a series in the same setting they both have to be alive and together (or have the possibility of being together in the future) in the last related work. This applies to other TW works too. (No permanently killing off whoever is in any other main ship either.)

No miserable, tragic endings. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect and happily ever after, but the last related work should at least have a hopeful or “we’ll make the best of this shit” ending for Stiles and Derek (or other main ship.) 

No explicit descriptions or depictions of sexual activity under 16. (Kissing, dating, references or vague descriptions are okay.)

No bestiality. (As in regular animals. Xeno /Tera with beta or full shifted Derek, Stiles, etc, is okay.)

No scat.

No death or gore fetishes. (As in rotting corpses and gaping wounds and stuff. Bloodplay is okay.)

No Real Person Fiction.

I don't mind you asking at all!! Actually I'm very glad you asked! :) I love talking about jjk and I think I've annoyed everyone I talk to irl far too much about it at this point!

Oh and please put your top 5 favourite characters and scenes in the replies!! (That goes for anyone reading this as well-- I'm curious to see what everyone's is!)

MANGA SPOILERS (UP TO 255) BENEATH THE CUT!! (ALSO IT'S LONG AS HELL UNDER THERE!)

My favourite characters (you can all probably guess but I'm going to list them anyway!!)

Choso

Chances are, if a character is an eldest brother and has dark hair and eyes, he'll be my favourite! Dick Grayson, Uchiha Itachi, Portgas D Ace, Iida Tensei (favourite male chara based on vibe alone haha), Kamado Tanjirou, Mori ohshc (it's old ik ik but I was in love w him!).

But beyond that, I just adore Choso. His devotion to his brothers, his awesome use of blood manip, how intense he is and how tired he looks-- he's awesome!

2. Yuuji

Again completely unsurprising! I also tend to go for upbeat, spunky and happy characters as my favourites. He goes through so much, but still manages to maintain an iron resolve and hold onto others, and to create and protect special bonds with others. I truly admire this about his character-- and I hope he gets the happiness he deserves. If not, I'm always willing to write it for him hehe.

3. Maki

Maki is so cool to me, I enjoyed the chapter with her and that sumo guy so so much-- imo he was her first real mentor! (Sorry Gojo!) I love how relentlessly strong she is, how tough she's had to become and how, no matter what was happening, she held onto her own resolve. Everything she did being for Mai absolutely stole my heart.

4. Nobara

Nobara saying she "only has so many chairs for people in [her] life", vs seeing just how many chairs were there, waiting for her to find special people to fill them absolutely broke me when I saw it animated. I was legit crying. I love how assertive and aggressive she is, and how she's still a very sentimental and protective person. Her admiring Maki was so cute, I could never let those scenes go!

5. Sukuna

I have to give it to him, he's a great villain. I was skeptical about this at first-- I love Nanamin and Gojo and Miguel and Yuki and so many others so much! -- but looking through the screenshots of the manga I have, 70% of it is Sukuna. He's very attractive, so relentlessly evil and just so strong, too.

Now for my favourite scenes!! Sorry if this is way too much to read!

Red Scale

The entire episode. I've rewatched it so many times and screamed at all the same parts. I love the fighting, the animation, blood manipulation coming in clutch, the memories that don't exist-- everything! It's just such a fun episode to watch! And on top of that they're my two faves, of course I love it!!

2. Higuruma Hiromi saying "let's have a retrial"

Listen-- I don't know why, but something about that panel is SO attractive to me. I was screaming at his later scenes (I wanted Sukuna's head on a pike and his ass on the executioner's blade), but that early shot of him just refuses to leave my mind.

3. Maki sumoing with Miyo

IMO he was her first proper mentor, and I love the growth that we see in her, and the insight into her mental state since losing Mai. My heart broke for her in that scene, so getting to see something more personal of her, how she struggled with everything that had happened to her and all her responsibilities, and how she was able to overcome it by focusing on the present, on what she could and could not see-- rather than everything she had to do.

4. Yuuji, Nobara and Megumi going crazy at the end of s1

I will never get Megumi's crazy smile and laughter out of my head-- he let LOOSE!

Nobara's "game of chicken" had me giggling like mad, yelling at the screen, cheering, everything!

Yuuji and Nobara's black flashes cemented this scene pack for me-- I just love it! Their powerups, their growth in this short period and their teamwork! I love to see it hehe.

5. Todo's locket opening to reveal Yuuji and Takada-chan

Todo is so genuinely special to me. I have never seen a more delusional character, and I don't think I ever will. I've loved him since he asked Megumi what his type of woman is, and every time he's on screen I can't help but laugh. This scene in particular made me cry with laughter-- the whole episode I was clapping and cheering, mimicking his poses, texting incomprehensible messages to my friends. Todo is everything man.

I would definitely rent this movie (did I get it right that I can have it for 5 days?) and watch it with you or one of my friends) Thank you so so much, now your comment about young misha the other day makes sense 😀 I just finished reading July 20th (the kiss and the epigraph ❤️💔 The kiss is heartbreaking and beautiful, it's funny how Dean didn't know how to react but still kissed Cas first, and the epigraph is just beautiful) and still didn't have time to read the prequel. Hii thank you so much💖 So happy to hear you enjoyed my cover, I had so much fun making it. I love SOTW so much, it's such a beautiful story, it plays like a movie in my mind and I wish it were one we could all watch together. I put the "5 day rental" specifically because I was like, if I were renting this movie I'd want to have it for as long as possible to rewatch it over and over haha.

Oughh their first kiss scene<3 Dean being the one to go for it after being it his head about it and thinking Cas would kiss him and how he'd have to reject him is just sooooo !!! Dean wanted him so bad, loves him so much 😭

And the prequel is really sweet, I definitely recommend reading it when you get a chance.

As for the Brokeback Mountain comment, I absolutely drew inspo from the film's cover / poster when designing the SOTW cover image! It's such an iconic movie and I already knew I wanted to use that specific shot of young Jensen looking down from the video where he rides a horse. And it just fit the vibe so well of the Brokeback cover. I just needed to find an appropriate Misha image, which was hard haha (and even harder for the 'manip' movie scenes on the back!). But in the end it all came together well, I think.

Taversia Arzeniel | High Half Elf

(Tah-ver-shuh) She/They

Class: Fighter - Champion

Background: Soldier

This is my first Tav that I ever created, so she's near and dear to my heart. She's also kind of a self insert so if you're seeing her, you kinda see what I look like (mainly the blonde hair, blue eyes, and square jaw lol).

Pre-Game:

Taversia was born the illegitimate child to an elven father and human mother. The father left her mother after learning of her pregnancy, unwilling to help raise the child. Her mother, only eighteen when she gave birth, tried to raise her as well as she could, but eventually realized she would not be able to support her as well as someone else could. Praying to the gods above that someone would find her, she abandoned her toddler in the Outer City of Baldur’s Gate. Luckily, Taversia did not have to wait long to be rescued from what could have been a terrible fate.

She was found by mercenaries of the Flaming Fists before the sun set that day. The Arzeniels were not famously known through the city, but were more humble in their operations. Her adoptive family gave her their name and trained her from a young age to be a soldier, and they found that she was quite a skilled and talented fighter, too. When she turned eighteen, she enlisted in the Flaming Fists. This just so happened to be the same year of the Narthex Murders, which meant her time spent as a mercenary was rather busy figuring out who was behind these cruel killings of so many innocent lives.

Over her ten years serving the city of Baldur's Gate, she watched as the guild took a turn for the worst - corrupt members taking bribes from criminals, spies from rival groups infiltrating their ranks, members not upholding justice as they should. In fact, she received the scar across her eye from a spy who tried to convince her to turn own the Flaming Fists. Worried that the other members would turn on her if she wasn't cruel to the citizens of her beloved city, she resigned from the Fists, almost at Manip rank.

Her adoptive family was not pleased with the news that their daughter would be leaving the Flaming Fists. They tried to convince her to stay, that her commitment to keeping the city safe was worth it, despite what “corruption” she thought was happening to the organization. However, she decided to go through with her resignation. When she told her adoptive family, they kicked her out of their home, saying that she has brought shame to the Arzeniel family name. Being the only name she knew, she still kept it, hoping to one day bring them honor once more.

Once she officially left the Fists, she had intended to go on her own personal quest to find her mother, who she had been writing her letters with back and forth for the past ten years. However, the very same day she resigned, she was captured by the Illithid forces and taken away on the Nautiloud. And so begins the events of Baldurs Gate 3.

Fun Facts™️:

She was born intersex (which only became a problem when I was putting modded clothing on her lol).

Their personality type is ESFJ-A.

Got her neck tattoo the day after she joined the Flaming Fists - she has always been skilled yielding a sword, and she wanted to let the other mercenaries know just who they were messing with.

Her ears got pierced that same night - after a few too many drinks at the Elfsong and a surprisingly steady hand from another new member.

She is in a relationship with Gale - his nerdy, wizard charm drew her in. He was nothing like the Flaming Fist members she was used to spending time with.

After in-game events in Act Two, Jaheira becomes a motherly figure for her, and the two become very close

Finished Path of Radiance Hard Mode last night, with less than an hour to spare before the year ended!

This was my second playthrough of the game, with the first being well over a decade ago. Was pretty fun to play it again! Various thoughts:

Wow, the game was easy. I wasn't expecting just how easy the game would be overall even on Hard Mode. Of course, this isn't the actual highest difficulty, and I do plan on playing Maniac at some point, despite the... not great things I've heard about Maniac.

Planning for Radiant Dawn transfers was an interesting twist, necessitating that I try to use everyone more equally instead of favoriting specific units too much (characters who reach max level get bonuses in RD for each capped stat in PoR). It felt kinda awkward being unable to use my best units much near the end, though. (Congrats Ike on getting Ragnell! Time for you to barely face combat anymore.)

I played on Fixed Growths mode. It was a cool thing to try out once, and was nice how it made planning my RD Transfers easier, but I definitely feel like I prefer Random Growths for casual play. It's just not the same without the randomness, lol. Also wasn't the biggest fan of how overly complicated "fixed" growths is in this game, with the equipped weapon and enemy classes having an effect, and how it's possible to abuse the "growth points" system with tiny exp increments.

The bonus experience system is pretty cool, giving meaningful reason to finish chapters quickly for once.

...On the other hand, the game is so easy that I barely actually used all that bonus experience I was getting, instead saving most of it until the very end to help get everyone to Level 20 for RD Transfers.

...Same with statboosters. I used my Angelic Robes early on on my Flier Girls, but otherwise saved them all for the end to cap stats for RD transfers.

...Same with Skills. Most Skill Scrolls ended up unused by the end, thanks to them never really being necessary. Notable exception for Aether and endgame Wrath/Resolve on Ike, of course.

Biorhythm is annoying.

Overall really enjoyed it despite the lack of difficulty. Gonna be starting Radiant Dawn Hard with transfers from this PoR save tomorrow! It's definitely not at all awkward how the difficulty names in the localizations between PoR and RD don't actually line up with each other.

The top 3 units were all surprising close in general actually. Jill definitely got some transfer favoritism here lol, totally worth it.

Marcia (117 Wins) Transfers: Strength, Skill, Speed, S Lances, Tanith A Statboosters: 1 Angelic Robe Girl!

Ike (115 Wins) Transfers: Strength, Skill, Speed, Defense, S Swords, Soren A Statboosters: Some unneeded extras I had at the end …I did have to cheat a bit to get him to cap Defense, by doing some fixed growth bonus exp manip (giving him 1 exp at a time). He would've come super close but not quite there otherwise.

Mia (100 Wins) Transfers: Strength, Skill, Speed, S Swords, Ilyana A Mia's a character I stuck with just because I really like her, even though her damage output was consistently disappointing for the entire game.

Nephenee (95 Wins) Transfers: Strength, Skill, Speed, S Lances, Calill A Statboosters: 1 Energy Drop I gave her Vantage/Wrath because lol. Given I avoided actually letting her get below half HP as much as I could I didn't get much use out of it, but it was cool when it did go off.

Soren (84 Wins) Transfers: Magic, Skill, Resistance, A Wind, B Staves, Ike A I'm surprised his Win count is so high, given his usual lack of an Enemy Phase, and that he stuck almost exclusively to Staves near the end to avoid stealing experience from others.

Astrid (72 Wins) Transfers: Skill, Speed, A Bows She suffered from being too good near the end; I outright stopped deploying her, since she was already close to the level cap so all she would do is steal experience. :(

Never used her Reinforcement skill either, for the same "not stealing experience" reason.

Geoffrey (8 Wins) Transfers: Speed, Skill, A Lances, C Bows Statboosters: 2x Secret Book, 1x Speedwing I barely used him, but he got to join the Transfer Squad thanks to Paragon making that easy for him, and the needed statboosters not being helpful for anyone else.

Mist (7 Wins) Transfers: Magic, Speed, S Staves, Jill A Statboosters: 1x Speedwing Girl. She came 1 point short of maxing Resistance with 2x Talismans that I wasn't using for anything else… Kinda disappointing but oh well. Was pretty fun to spam the Ashera Staff (repaired with Hammerne) near the end for a full level each time!

Ch16 The Atonement (17 Turns / 1:53:25) Shoutouts to Jill for double missing a 90% displayed/98.1% actual at one point! It didn't really matter as I had other units to attack with instead, but, lol 1/2770 chance.

Ch17 Day Breaks (34 Turns / 3:13:12) Ch18 Crimea Marches (17 Turns / 2:13:30) Failed this once due to not paying enough attention to a Siege tome and leaving Rolf in range of one, oops.

Ch28 Twisted Tower (17 Turns / 2:16:24) Endgame Repatriation (11 Turns / 1:51:39) lol Wrath/Resolve against Ashnard. Only real challenge this map was making sure everyone actually reached 20/20.

🌿how does creating make you feel?

Powerful! LOL no but seriously, when I first writing fanfictions, it really felt like I discovered a magic power. The power to visit my favorite universe at will. Writing means I can stay with the characters after the cameras stopped rolling. I can stay with them a little longer. Hold their hands, a little longer. And of course, I can fix things, I can imagine the future, I can imagine all the happy reunions, the happy-ever-after, the kids growing up. The AUs, the craziest crossovers.

And writing, the act itself of thinking a sentence and typing it down, it feels like a shot of endorphine. It makes me all fuzzy inside as I'm spending time with my beloved characters, just as if I was watching the show.

For some reason, it's a bit different with art. When I'm making art/manips, of course, working on a subject or with a model that I appreciate staring at is always a bonus, but generally, making art, for me, feels more like craft, manual work. Probably because (for me, who can't actually draw) it's more about mastering Photoshop tools than anything and finding the best starting material, so it feels more technical. There's a whole process, that is actually longer than the creative part of coming up with the ideas and the design. But it is also a relaxing activity in its own right, and there's a real satisfaction in looking at the finish product on my screen.

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

The FEELS. Angsty or fluffy (ideally angsty then fluffy!). So I guess it's the characters, and giving them challenges to overcome. Plots (or more accurately, settings), are just a way to set that up. Even if I come up with a plot idea first - like say, what if I was writing a WC/Forever crossover - then I'd try to figure out what would make it "fun". Someone has to become immortal. There's potential for angst there. Peter's been shot, dying. Neal's desperate. Neither of them know it's gonna be fine. Oh all the usual angst. You're my best friend, take care of El, etc... And he *really dies*. But disappears. MORE ANGST and confusion and dispair! But, then, twist! Peter walks back naked and wet, embarrassed and furious. Confused and cold. Comfort, happiness, fluff, and of course, LOLz. Gotta have Diana and Jones making fun of Peter. Or, depending on my mood, I can go a more fluffy way right away. In a world where Forever and WC coexist, Mozzie and Abe *got* to know each other. They'd totally be friends. Henry would have a lot less patience for Mozzie's excentricities. BUT Mozzie would totally figure out Henry's secret. So from there I just set up a meeting. Mozzie forge fake papers, Henry would need new papers every 10 years or so.

See, it all writes itself! (it just needs a lot of rework cause I'm stuck with plot, cause clearly plots aren't my favorite parts!)

Character interactions and feelings, I think that's the main thing for me.

Though I also have to note that all those different aspects are important in the final product. I do care about grammar. I do care about finding the correct phrase, or a coherent plot/setting. And I also very very much care about keeping characters in-character.

Your Current Fandom(s): Shameless is my current active fandom, but like, you never really leave a fandom, you just get distracted by a new shiny thing. There’s still Merlin (2008) and Shadowhunters (2015) fic open on my phone right this minute. And I go back and read some of my favourite fic from much older fandoms on a semi regular basis. I have hundreds of them saved in word. Because if you love something… don’t let it go! Save the ever-loving shit out of it and keep it on your current laptop as well as on multiple external hard drives for back up!!

How did you first get into fandom? I was looking for someone to talk to, and that wasn’t going to happen in real life. So instead I found myself on a German Buffy Forum, which led me to discover fandom, online friends, and fanfic… all of which changed my life forever.

How long have you been engaging with fandom spaces? Probably since 1998? It was during Buffy Season 1, but when it aired on German TV, so 98/99 sounds about right. I DEFINITELY lied to the ‘are you over 18?’ ticky boxes!!

How often do you read fanfics? Daily. I used to be that kid that would walk to and from school with her nose in a book. Now I’m that adult that walks to and from school reading fanfic on her phone.

Top 3 characters from your current fandom(s): Mickey Milkovich. Ian Gallagher. Lip Gallagher.

Have you ever written a fic for a fandom? if so, shout it out! I have. I’m not primarily a writer, but about once a year I get the urge. Here’s my AO3. Also, if you search very hard you may be able to find some German Buffy/Spike fic out there somewhere, from when I was a child, proof read by my mother, whose main comment was ‘Oh my. You could have a career in erotica…’ (They barely kissed! Sheesh!)

Have you ever drawn fanart for a fandom? Yep. Back in the day I did the full range: Drawings, Icons. Wallpapers. Manips. Fic Banners. Fic Awards. Now I mostly stick with traditional art, and then once a year pumpkins haha Some of my recent stuff is on AO3. You can also find a lot of my art on my RedBubble Page or my Instagram.

Share a personal headcanon that you feel very strongly about: For Shameless? The Gallaghers visited Ian and Mickey in prison. Yes, they are busy, but they love their brother, and by extension they love the person their brother loves! And there is loads of them!! If they visited on rotation, it would only really “cost” them one day a month each. Not a hardship, is it? Also, Lip went more often than everyone else. Send tweet.

You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. what episode, clip, or scene are you showing them? Depends a little bit on the friend and on what aspect of a show I feel they’d vibe with best. 01x03 Aunt Ginger is a pretty good one. It’s got the full family working together to solve a problem. And it introduces Mandy and the itty bitty murder floof, which is a great bonus!!

And finally, what does fandom mean to you? Absolutely everything. You know Penny Lane’s speech in Almost Famous? “If you never take it seriosuly, you never get hurt, you never get hurt, you always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends.”? I followed bands around for about half a decade, and that, and Oasis’ “Please don’t put your life in the hands, of a rock and roll band, who'll throw it all away” were things I tried to live by. But fandom doesn’t work that way. Fandom is all about emotionally investing. Caring too much is basically a requirement. And what makes it safe is the fact that we are all in this together. <3

COSTUME CONTEST

There will be a costume contest BUT it is slightly different from what you’d expect. The object of this contest is to try to be as convincing as your costume character as you can. Everyone will vote for the top 3 costumes - again, the voting criteria being that you had NO IDEA WHO THEY WERE. We’re looking for the best actors here and the top 3 winners will win 200 points each!

OOC INFO

Alright, so here’s how it’s going to work - create a side blog for each of your characters’ costumes. THE URL SHOULD HAVE NOTHING IN IT about your actual character. Remember, you don’t want people to know who your character is. This goes for IC and OOC. PLEASE, don’t break the game. It’s not fun if you break the game.

On your sideblog for your character’s costume, post a photo of your costume including the mask. Once the blog is built and photo is posted, add the URL and costume to THIS GOOGLE DOC. Also, posting throughout the party will be done all F2F. There will be no online or tumblr based starters.

Ok, this part gets a little confusing. IC - this event only happens on Saturday October 28th. BUT, OOC we’ll be ‘freezing time’ to allow this event to be played out Monday-Sunday (October 23rd-29th). Again, it’s all happening IC on Saturday. Please keep the dash strictly Masquerade during the whole event.

The other part of the “don’t think about it” part of this is we need to kinda fake things about our characters to avoid being discovered. For example, since this takes place AFTER locktober, no one's locked for this. Or, Austin won't show his accent to avoid knowing who he is, etc. So just kinda suspend your disbelief, please. This goes for physical attributes, accents, etc.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER when making your blog:

Take off auto-tags if you have a way you tag things regularly, or just tag differently

Don't post photos or manips displaying your face claim in your costume

Don't talk OOC about what costume your characters are wearing

If while playing, you miss something please utilize tumblr's asks/messages and message from your sideblog, not your main.

Don't reuse former Masquerade side blogs (not everyone deletes people)

Look out for OOC traits/behaviors which might identify you

Any triggering plots or plots involving a lot of people need to be approved.

If your student character participates they will receive 50 points. Participation will include at least some decent activity (just a post or one/two replies will not count.) Gimme at least one thread and I’ll count it.

VOTING - once we get closer to the event we’ll let you know how this will go but it will be dependent on NOT LETTING ANYONE KNOW (Ic or OOC) WHAT COSTUME YOUR CHARACTER HAS. Please, again, Don’t Break the Game. These things are only fun when the rules are followed. Vote per character, however, even if your character doesn’t interact with them. So, you can use some OOC knowledge for voting ONLY.

We allow costumes to double. Make sure you're paying attention to the URL name when you're voting.

OC Community Positivity Event March 2022 - OC Creator BINGO!

Look, our community has had a rough go at things for nearly a year now (longer for some) But instead of dwelling in that hate let’s try to go forward with some positivity!

I’d like to introduce OC Creator BINGO! 

You’ll have the entire month of March to fill out a card similar to this! (All cards will be different and I will make them and send them to you - the following is just an example DO NOT FILL OUT!) (Names were chosen by who was in my notifications and in my email)

How to fill out the card? I have started a list of tasks you are able to do. You get to pick which task you want to do for each person on your card. If you want to do the same task for all creators, that’s fine. Here are some of the options: 

Send 5 asks to a creator about their OCs (and reblog the answers)

Start a private conversation with a new creator

Create a moodboard / aesthetic for a creator’s OC

2021 was not a good year for me. Possibly one of my worst ever actually. But among the better memories is how much fun I had making and sharing Zutara and AtLA art. I was just making things I had always wanted someone to make (like a scene where Katara actually talks about the EIP noncon kiss or an ending shot with the whole gaang looking at the sunset together), but it was a pleasant surprise to see how many other people also wanted those same things and liked what I was sharing. I still have a long way to go before my skill level is where I’d like it to be, and looking back at things I’ve made this year I see a lot of flaws, but I also see a lot of things I’m pretty proud of. 

So thank you. ♥ If you’ve ever said anything kind about anything I’ve posted, please know how much it means to me. And yes I do save nice comments/ hashtags/ etc. for rainy days (except instead of taking a photo it’s taking a screenshot and instead of a notebook it’s just a Google Doc). Thank you as well to all the Zutara artists and writers that share their work! I read an absurd amount of Zutara fanfic in 2021 and can’t wait to read more this year. Here’s to 2022!  ♥

I’m sure it’s been done before, but I mentioned to a friend the idea of combining the “wake up sleepyhead” meme with Zutara, and we both thought it would be hilarious - so thanks for the encouragement A!

I've seen a lot of takes on the “over protective big brother” Sokka when he finds out about Zuko and Katara being romantically involved, but personally I don’t think that would be his reaction. I think he’d be a little shocked, possibly confused, but also thrilled. After all, Zuko is a good friend of theirs who proved he was committed to Katara even before they were in a romantic relationship (hello lightning), and like... if you think your sister deserves the best, you can’t do much better than scoring the Fire Lord. (Or alternatively, I could see it going kind of like that scene from Friends...)

AU where AtLA ended on a shot that captured the themes of friendship, found family, and the 4 nations coming together in peace... instead of a shoehorned kiss (and everyone wearing Earth Kingdom outfits..?).

I’ve been a diehard Zutara shipper since forever, but I maintain that the show should have ended without any canon ships except Sokka/ Suki. This “alternate ending” shot is one I’ve wanted to do basically since the finale first premiered, so I’m pleased to have finally drawn it (only 13 years late...).

Can I create work for both the artists prompts and the writer prompts?

If I want to contribute something do I have to do something for every day?

Not at all. You’re free to commit to a single day, and we will be so flipping excited to see it. The point is just to have fun with the prompts, even if it’s just the one.

Can I post a WIP that I started working on before that fits a Snowbarry Week theme?

Yes, of course! We’re not a Big Bang, or even a Mini Bang, we don’t require art or fic to have been created from scratch for exactly this week.

I’m going to be busy/out of town during Snowbarry Week. Can I post early/late?

We’d really like to avoid early posting. If you’re out of town or too busy the week itself you can always schedule posts for the correct dates.

Posting late shouldn’t be a problem. Posting Day 1 on Day 3 is also perfectly fine, just make sure we can tell which day you’re posting for, so our heads don’t start spinning.

What does free day mean?

Basically, free day is where you decide what prompt you want to do something with. As long as it’s Snowbarry, you’re okay to do whatever you want. A free day in the middle of the week might also provide some much needed breathing space for all the contributors.

And since this is our bumper anniversary edition Snowbarry Week, our free day also doubles as an opportunity to create for any of our past prompts! If there was a prompt you didn’t manage to finish something for, or just always liked the sound of doing but missed the opportunity, we’d love to see that for this day to have a fun revival of some of the great prompts from past events.

What does [insert theme] mean?

Oh man, this is a hard one to answer. In the spotlight could mean a Celebrity or Politician AU, or it could be about team karaoke, or even a talent show in high school! We can’t tell you which roles to cast your characters in, because everyone has different interpretations. If you can justify the connection, we’re pretty sure you’re good.

Does my idea fit the theme?

Like we said above, if you can justify it, we’re pretty sure you’re good. If you’re really not sure, hit us up!
