Idk what it is that makes me fixate so hard on one specific thing for years at a time, but I need it to chill out 😭 DnDads has been my only long-term media interest for like 1 and 1/2 years now, and it’s BORING to only like one thing ever lol I’m BORED!!! I need other things to be interested in, but I struggle with getting into new stuff (other than video games) sooo bad :(

That said, if you have DnD podcast recs that have interesting characters……… GIMME 👀 Also where the early episodes aren’t a nightmare to listen to 🙏 I have never listened to any other DnD podcasts, and I think it’s mostly bc the earlier seasons are always poor audio quality or like 3 hours long 😭 I’m also good with any type of narrative podcast. I just want compelling characters and platonic/familial dynamics pls. Stuff I can write sad shit about!! But also not TOO sad the whole time… maybe a little bit silly idk

The freaks: Eddie Munson x male reader part two

Ok I want to state this now I hate slow burns and this isn’t going to be one. I don’t wanna be like 20 chapters into a 80 chapter fic just for the characters to brush hands for the tenth time already. Like come on wheres the action? I get build up but please make it worth my time. Although slow burns are written very well. Better than I can write mostly.  Also I’m sorry for the weird ending and how sucky this is I needed to post something so I felt less guilty and this is the best I got. 

Part one Part three

Summary: After reciving a flyer from Eddie you go to one of his shows. 

Warnings: Strong language, minor bullying, homophobia

You’re in study hall working on a story for English class. It’s been about a week since you’ve started to hang out with Eddie and his friends and you’re gettign worn down enough to start to have interest in dnd. The boys are sweet and really friendly, well more friendly than your other friends. Eddie, who’s also in study hall moves over to your table. You look over at him with a smile. “What’s the pleasure Eddie?” You ask. 

“Well it’s Tuesday obviously and I wanted to offer you a flyer to my show tonight,” He hands you a black and white flyer with hand drawn graphics of coffins, skeletons and other information on it, “It’s two dollars to get in if you’re interested. Last time we got like seven people to show up. Pretty bitchin huh?” You nod. 

“Totally bitchin Eddie. I’ll be sure to show up. Is there like a dress code or anything? I’ve never been to a show before.” Eddie chuckles a little. 

“Just wear something simple. Jeans and a shirt is plenty good. Might wanna bring some extra money too. For like drinks and stuff.” You nod. 

“I’ll be there.” His smile grows. 

“Great, can’t wait to see you there.” Soon after this the bell rings and you get up to leave, flyer still in hand as you walk out the door when you feel someone take it from your hands. No surprise when you turn and find Jason holding it. You roll you eyes. 

“Can I help you or something?” You ask trying to take the paper back. He just moves it away from you still looking at it. 

“That freak trying to invite you to a cult ritual or something?” He asks looking over the paper. 

“He invited me to a show of his asshole now give me back the damn paper.” You go to grab it but he moves it away again, turning his eyes to you. 

“You two fairies going on a date or something?” A humorless smile grows on his face. You know he knows about you being gay. But you know about all the illegal shit he does. So you two are in a sticky situation. You grab the flyer from him and fold it up, putting it in your pocket. 

“Why do you care? You jealous or something?” You know you shouldn’t be giving him the time of day. Jason’s always been an asshole. He scoffs and you simply walk off to your next class. You don’t get why people care so much sometimes. You know Hawkins isn’t the best place for queer people. Hell Indiana is horrible for queer people. You just thank the gods every day that you’re still safely in the closet to everyone else in this god damn town. 

Later that night you’re getting ready for Eddie’s show. You’re doing your hair while listening to Iron Maiden to get in the mood. The flyer says it starts at 7:30 so you should leave by 7. You’ve never been to the hide out before but you know it’s a bit far from passing it on your way to other places before. You walk over to your closet and try to pick out a shirt to wear to the show. Tonight is a bit cold so you’re bringing your jean jacket and wearing some jeans too. You look through your shirts and settle on a white Metallica band shirt you borrowed from your dad. You put it on along with your jacket and grab your wallet and car keys. Your car isn’t the best car out there. It’s a 79′ Ford you bought from a family friend. It needs a good amount of work but you don’t know anything about cars. It gets you from place to place good enough. 

You put your things in your pockets and walk downstairs. “I’m going out. I’ll be home by 11 or I’ll call if I’m gonna be late.” You yell to your parents. You go out to your car and start it up. You take out your map and look for The hide out. You know the route from driving that way to get to your Aunt and Uncles house. You pull out of your driveway and make your way over there. You don’t know why but you feel butterflies in your stomach. A lot of them. “Why am I so nervous. It’s just a show my friends are putting on at some bar that I’m gonna be watching.” Even after telling yourself this you still don’t feel at ease. God why do you feel this way? You try to push this feeling aside as you pull up to The hideout. 

You shut off your car and just sit there for a moment. You look at the building and back at your steering wheel. You take a deep breath and get out of your car. You pay and get the big black x on your hand before heading in. The bar lights are colored and there’s a big area for tables and another for the actual bar. You can see a small stage by the tables where you find the band setting up. You smile and make your way over to the bar, keeping an eye out for Eddie as you make your way over. You get a coke and when you turn back to face the stage you see him making his way over. You smile and walk over to him too. “Hey Y/N I’m so glad you made it.” 

“Of course man I said I’d be here. How many people usually show up to your shows?” You ask taking a sip of your coke. 

“No many really. Most we’ve ever had was like 15 I think,” He starts to play with his rings when he says this, “We’re not the like biggest band out of Hawkins you know?” 

“Don’t sell yourself short Eddie. I’m sure if you were in a bigger city more people would show up. And hey you’ve got a new regular coming to your shows now.” Eddie’s smile grows. 

“Well that’s great news. If we do ever need more help you’ll always be the first person I call. You know bands gotta move amps and stuff.” 

“Yeah of course man. Are any of the other boys here tonight?” He shakes his head. 

“Just you I’m afraid. They do wanna come it’s just you know their parents and shit.” 

“Yeah I remember being a freshman too. This one time I snuck out of my house freshman year to go to this party and I like drank way to much so when I got home I had the worst hangover ever, like I could barely get out of bed. My parents never grounded me because they said that was punishment enough.” When Eddie sees you laughing about this story he laughs along with you. 

“I remember the first time I got drunk. I can’t remember how but I woke up in the woods barefoot and I had to walk back home. My uncle was not happy about that.” 

“Well let’s make sure to never drink with each other.” 

“Agreed. Anyway I gotta go back and get ready, meet us out back after we’re done alright?” 

“Will do Eddie. You’re gonna do great.” With a really quick fist bump Eddie runs off backstage. You smile and grab a seat at a table with a good view of the stage. No many people are here like Eddie said. Probably around six people are here for the music. You keep sipping your drink as the band starts to play. You see the faces of your new friends on stage and you let out a little cheer for them. Eddie starts to play Master of puppets by Metallica and soon the rest of the band joins in. They play six more songs after this. Your favorites were called ‘rotting’ and ‘puss brain’. After a little bit more talking they start to pack up their things and you get up to join them back outside. 

However the dark lighting of the bar and you not looking where you’re going lead to you bumping into someone and getting something spilled on your shirt, from the smell you knew it was alcoholic. “Oh fuck I am so sorry man.” You apologize. 

“Hey it’s ok kid no big deal. Was only a few bucks anyway.” You look down at your now stained Metallica shirt and sigh. 

“Thank you for understanding.” You make your way to the bathroom and try your best to clean up the spill. The strong scent of alcohol still lingers after a good five minutes of cleaning your shirt, along with a tan stain. You sigh and give up on trying to clean it. You leave the bathroom and head out back where Eddie said he would be. He smiles when he finds you but quickly gets confused when he sees your shirt. 

“Hey Y/n you ok there?” He asks. 

“Yeah just go something spilled on me is all. Fucking sucks too I loved this shirt.” You notice Eddie going back to play with his rings. 

“I have a spare hellfire shirt you can use. What’s your size?” 

“Eddie you don’t have to do that I’m not too far from home I can go-” 

“Really it’s no big deal just what’s your size?” He sees a smile creep back on your face, “Really Y/n I don’t want you having to walk around with that stained shirt on. You can always return it back to me later too. Just give me your size.” You tell him your size and he makes his way to the back of his van, Gareth walking over to talk with you. 

“Hey Y/n it’s nice seeing you here. What did you think of the show?” 

“It was bitchin man. I really liked that song uh puss brain I think it was called.” 

“Sweet, tonight was a pretty good turn out. I hope we’ll see more of you at our shows.” 

“You will don’t worry. Just be sure to remember me when y’all become a big famous band one day.” Eddie comes back over, shirt in hand. 

“Here you are sir,” You take the shirt from Eddies hands looking back down at his rings, “Oh and if you want you can come back to my place to hang out. No pressure I just wanted to offer.”  

“Yeah uh I’ll call my parents inside really quick after I change. I’ll be right back.” You give Gareth one last look before heading back inside. Once the back door shuts Eddie relaxes a little and Gareth lets out a chuckle. 

“What’s so funny?” Eddie asks. 

“You like him don’t you Eddie.” He teases. 

“I do not. He’s probably not even into guys.” 

“Then why not tell him that it’s just gonna be the two of you over at your place?” Eddie shrugs. 

“ I don’t know, I don’t think he’ll mind. You know I wonder why I even came out to you.” 

“Because we’re friends and you like me.” 

“Yeah yeah whatever.” 

Back inside you’re borrowing a phone and giving your parents a call. 

“Hey mom I’m still at the hide out but I’m headed over to a friends house.... Yes I’ll be safe.... I can’t say I’ll be back that soon, if I end up staying the night I still have my book bag in my car... I know mom.... I love you too.” You hand up and head back outside, holding your shirt. Eddie’s still waiting for you there. “Alright I’m ready to go. Should I follow you or?” 

“Yeah just follow me and we’ll get there soon enough.” 

“Cool I’ll meet you there.” You walk back around and get in your car waiting for Eddie to pull around. You find his van and follow him out.

my theme: original characters! whether they’re current characters from a book i’m working on, TTRPG characters from various campaigns, or old cringey self inserts from middle school, they’re all fair game. their name must start with the letter of the week.

my medium: a sketchbook page with a fully illustrated and colored scene. i’m doing this challenge to work on my character design, coloring, backgrounds, and anatomy. in my sketchbook, i’ve been focusing mostly on drawing profiles or sketching directly from references. i’m using this challenge as an excuse to break out of my comfort zone and hopefully get more comfortable making full pieces!

what they were used for: dnd campaign

description: Aether is an air genasi wizard who was abandoned as a child and raised by night hags. One of his eyes was replaced by a hag’s eye, which the coven uses to spy on him and influence him even now that he’s escaped. He learned magic from a kind old wizard that took him in after finding him alone in the woods. Disturbed by the thoughts the hags would channel into his mind, he ran away shortly after beginning to learn magic, resolved to teach himself everything he needed to know on his own.

present day notes: Aether was a lot! His entire backstory was inspired by taking one look at the “Haunted One” dnd background and saying “oh I could work with that.” The more I play bg3 the more I wonder if I should’ve just made Aether but as a half elf or something for the dark urge play through. I haven’t thought about him in quite awhile, but he still holds a special place in my heart. If I was to rewrite his backstory again, I’d probably change a lot of things around, but this whole challenge for me is about embracing the choices I made in years past, so we’re sticking to the backstory, agnst and all.

Can I ask about the dnd character? :O what's their deal?

You can absolutely ask about Blodwyn! Especially bc it is 3am and my insomnia will not let me sleep lmao.

So, Blodwyn is a bard(in a party of bards). He is a changeling in a very literal sense of his mother is an elf and his currently unknown father is a fae. Though he makes a strong effort to pass as a normal half elf. His mother is rather over protective and has made him fear anyone finding out about his true lineage. Although he is learning how to trust people enough to share his secrets, such as his partners and few close friends.

In regards to being a bard, he’s essentially reached rockstar status and can pack most places he plays with fans. Which is what he was mostly focusing on before getting pulled into doing actual adventures with the party. He still does concerts, they just haven’t been as frequent lately.

I don’t want this to turn into like 5000 paragraphs but I could talk about him for hours lol.

The accidental I love yous I mentioned in that post though, he got very drunk and told his bf he loved him without actually being ready to. He’s very meticulous with planning out how he wants things to go, but continues to rush into them anyway lol.

Another year another summary! This was... an odd one that's for sure ;v; A lot more IRL shenanigans happened that had my days a bit up and down, but as I tend to be, I'm keeping up the optimism! 

A break down of my year under the read more!

So for an art update- I was worried by the time I got to December, that I would find I hadn't actually done too much since my usually source of work like RG took a hit this year. However, between zines, commissions, and new topics that helped me through some days- I was able to have a fair amount to show off here! This year is also heavily marked by me getting an iPad which ended up being a godsend because I often found my self either working 46 hour work weeks or a lil in bed or away from my pc. So in reality most of the art I got done was done on the iPad.  So what I accomplished was: More paintings! Mostly for commissions, job prospects, and charity zines. I really like the ones I did finish and I think I am keeping up my art journey up well enough with practice. I also did a fair amount of concept art and character designs for both dnd related hobbies and a secret OG idea I'm collabing on with a friend for after RG is finished which will probably not be a few more years yet. Although if you notice that little blip above, that "fair amount" of the dnd concept art actually turned in a LOT thanks in part to a fixation I have that hasn't weaseled its way into my art much until now. I actually really like fish and ocean themes which mostly manifests in the stuff I own, but while I was dealing with surgeries and happenings, that was kind of like a huge comfort for me. It was mostly sketches and really rudimentary colors, but there ended up being so much of it. I actually am happy to see it because what it also lead to is inadvertently finally learning human anatomy because the fish folk concepts often had human counter parts or family. So FINALLY I'm bucking up and covering what is usually something I avoid like the plague, but now I can say I somewhat have a handle on. Unfortunately, because it's dnd related, I didn't really post much if any of it since it be spoilers for a hand full of people but the surprise is half the fun so maybe one day I'll post a massive collage of all of it. Outside of that I drew a few fancy weapons; made 23 pieces of music; handmade a pile of felt ornaments again; helped my roommate with a Halloween piece; did manage to get RG back in gear; and edited a good few things. Time for the bit of the more- personal stuff all vague like just to serve as a memory capsule for me. Starting off, in march I had my wisdom teeth removed. I know that's basically a common surgery, but in order to get it done I had to uproot my life for about a month to get that done. It wasn't all rough though because I stayed with my family for the entire duration. During that time while I was still a bit roughed up, I started that fish art, but also I got told about a job opportunity from someone I trust that they wanted me to try for. In order to do that I ended up making 3 very involved illustrations. Unfortunately with all that happenings with shows getting cancelled for animation this year, that ended up getting cancelled so that wasn't in the cards for meeee. Eventually I got home and had a few significant life things at least to me. That BF I had last year I ended up breaking up with, not because they did anything wrong, they were sososo very nice, but turns out I'm plenty touch adverse and was rather struggling to feel romantic feelings. I consider my self plenty ace and aromantic so I felt very- "was trying on a coat to see if it works" only to find out that maybe it could work one day, but for now I feel much happier being super platonically involved with the people I care about. That break up was rocky at the start but we recovered and are still great friends which was a relief cause I really do feel strongly about my friends. On a happier note I got to do several trips with friends this year! Saw the redwoods, went to local cons, & went on a road trip with my roommate and fair.  I'm on team- go have experience with your friends when you can now or at least do friend activities online so I actually, for me at least, was out and about or was in voice calls a lot with friends. I really liked it and I feel enriched for it ;v; There were a few more negative things. Some additional situations that changed my life some that were hard and some stuff with my family where I had to give away at a lot to try and help them keep afloat. Family struggled with health this year a lot so I do fret over that. Also had a SECOND oral surgery. My gum just straight up ripped on me and I needed to get a skin graft that saw me distracted for another half a month or so while I was a mashed food gremlin and a lil unhappy about the pain stuff  :T  cost a pretty penny like the first one did, but rather that then have roots exposed. And for additional expensive things, I spent a good few dollars fixing stuff with my car. Was unpleasant but like 4/5ths of that is done. End of the year is fairing alright though! Still got savings despite all of that, still in a good home with nice roommates, & with plans to visit more friends in the future where ever I can squeeze it out. Oh and this was the first year I tried text RPs with close friends with our ocs and yeah turns out I can enjoy that too, but probably only with friends hah. So yeeeep I think that's most of what happened. Basically could have been worse and could have been better, but I'm still super thankful for the nice things that did happen. No matter what things happen this next year, if I can keep up hanging with friends, making art I enjoy, and scraping time to see little chunks of the world- I'll be good!!

Currently reading: OOOH ok so I was rereading Harrow along with my friend who I'm doing the cosplay with BUT I was also at her behest reading the Final Empire, book one of Mistborn (she's super into Brandon Sanderson's stuff) and now I'm onto the second book, the Well of Ascension. They've been really good so far, it's a really cool and unique fantasy world with an awesome magic system (eating different metals lets you do crazy shit) and I loooove the main characters, they start out a bit basic but especially coming into book two they gain a lot of depth and are just generally really likeable, I have had a bit of trouble keeping track of the side characters though lol, there's a couple that all melt together in my brain. Also ostensibly working on starting discworld, I'm a little bit of the way through Guards! Guards! But TLT and Mistborn have been keeping me busy (STILL need to read nona lol, I'll probably get to it before Alecto comes out lol) also I've been doing all of this with audiobooks which I still have some trouble paying attention to sometimes but it's massively easier for me these days than physical books OK LONG BIT OVER

Last song: last song I actually listened to was DUI by Estelle Allen, I unironically love it so much even though I can't drive and therefore follow through (I DID SCHEDULE A PERMIT TEST THOUGH WHOO LOOK AT ME BEING AN ADULT) anyways if you haven't heard it PLEASE please listen to it immediately (and also the whole album it's on, it's actually real good)

Last series: UHHH haven't been watching a ton of "tv" shows recently, but I just finished season 5 of game changer on dropout which was fun, and I'm now binging all three seasons of SoupRS's Gielenor Games OSRS competition gameshow, I haven't actually played old school in a bit and never very seriously but I do love those funny little guys fighting funny little monsters and flicking their funny little prayers :+)

Last movie: UHH I think the DnD movie? I personally loved it, it's not as cringe as I expected and is very accessible to anyone who's not into dnd the game or the internet dnd "fandom"

Sweet, spicy, or savoury: GOD that's hard I mean I am a pleasure seeking creature so like I do love sweet sugary stuff, but I also loooove sweet/spicy stuff, or really just all of those stuck together, although I think I'd actually go for umami over savoury. I've been practicing this scallion oil noodle recipe that is soooo good and the sauce especially is a really great blend of sweet from sugar, spicy from various stuff, and savory from the scallions (plus a lot of umami from the sesame oil and soy sauce lol) my rendition of the recipe is just a simplified/easier version of some I've seen on the internet, but I can post it if anyone's interested :3

Tea vs coffee: TEA ez, I mostly just drink water and the occasional sodie (although I really should get an electric kettle for my room id drink way more tea) I think I've literally never had coffee and tbh I don't have much desire too, doesn't smell a way I like and I can get caffeine from sodies, someday I may grow up and get into coffee but I wanna get back to more tea first, I made this syrup with lemon balm that I really wanna try as a sweetener in a tea

Currently working on: well not a ton, got a callback from a job I was really excited about and they seemed into me but also I need a driver's license for that so. I'm starting work on a permit lol. Theoretically working on that cosplay but most of it is just gonna be ordering stuff, I might make the sword out of foam and wood though so I can bring it to cons. Also been drawing a sword for the same friend's fantasy series she's been working on, and just generally helping her brainstorm that stuff which is really fun :)

Sebastian Stardewvalley, my beloved blorbo emo boy, current hyperfixation, love of my life, etc. He is confident in who he is and what he wants! He is an introvert who has the self-awareness to know when he needs space and enforce boundaries politely! He's complicated and independent and loves frogs and has cool hair and likes horror films and runs a fun DND campaign for his friends! He tries to be edgy and cool but really he's just a big soft nerd and I love that about him. I always accidentally romance him even when I don't set out to do it, just because I really enjoy talking to him. Whenever I hear Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) on the radio I turn it up in his honor. Also Colors (Halsey). Actually I have an entire dedicated playlist lol

Admittedly I've been on a big SDV kick lately, mostly because I've been working on this novel-length superpowers AU (which ofc features him as one of the protags), so a lot of what I like about him is definitely shaped by my own version of him viewed through that lens, but he was my first-ever SDV spouse and I'm pretty sure he's always going to secretly be my favorite

Side note: I came very close to also checking "everyone but me is wrong about them <3" because although about 90% of the fandom takes on him are good, every time I see a bad one (specifically ones that malign/mischaracterize him for being an introvert who's good at enforcing boundaries, or bad takes about how he relates to his family) it does make me angry enough to block on sight. I have a lot of strong feelings about their family dynamic actually, because it reminds me of a less healthy version of my own?? not to project my own life onto this but tl;dr nobody is really at fault and it's all mismatched expectations and badly-paired neuroses, but this is a story for another day

Wheatley! Specifically Blue Sky Wheatley is just. Chef's kiss amazing, Blue Sky Wheatley still has one of the best character arcs I have ever seen in my life. I have marked "wow! they are a horrible person" because he is, but like, in the same way all of us are, you know? It's about the redemption arc. The important bit is that he actively chooses to be better. Obviously he also works better as part of a dynamic with Chell, that's part of the point, right? He is still a blorbo but he's like, a dormant blorbo I haven't thought about in a minute. I'm sure I'll pull him off the shelf again to put him in the main rotation whenever I reread Blue Sky for the dozenth time, though.

Okay so, Dracula Daily is really my first ever exposure to Dracula (and therefore Jonathan Harker)? Like, everything I know about Dracula is via cultural osmosis, so I don't know a ton about him yet, besides what I know from fandom osmosis and the entries we've had so far. I do think it's very sweet how much he cares about Mina, and that earns him several bonus points. I also think his mentality of, "This is my first big job after passing my exams, I better get a good grade in this customer interaction," is absolutely relatable, which I enjoy. He's just a little lawyer man trying his best, and I really hope he makes it through his ordeals in one piece. (It's not looking like he will, but, you know, I can hope, right?)

Here's some canon things about each character!

Mrs Candy: she is the ruler of candyland! Often guiding the player to where they need to go! She also always has some type of pastry with her.

Mrs Sourpatch: she is very protective of her children. Sometimes turning violent in their favor

The sour kids: they are quadruplets! Often seen by their mom or traveling in pairs. Each having their own personality. Green is shy, Purple is sassy, Red is sweet and yellow is hyper.

The Pocky twins: Think The Weasley twins from Harry Potter. They love pranking and meeting new people. Always balancing on their Pocky sticks.

Mr.Sweetart: He has a massive crush on Senorita Jelly Bean. Although he is very easily flustered from any type of flirting. On the other hand he is very smart and loves experiments. He is also gender fluid! He can change his gender as he pleases ^^

Senorita Jelly Bean: She is very flirty. Often flirting with anyone although it's mostly Mr.Sweetart. She is either always balancing on her jelly bean or she's leaning on it.

Mini Jelly beans: they are usually never seen. Although they do pop up every once and a while to mess with the player. Usually creating chaos when their elder sister isn't around.

i haven’t seen your reason on why eddie is hated by the fandom.

but i’ve seen it more on how his character was played. while no hate for the actor and how he played addie, the character himself was just rather difficult to watch.

i can’t give you quite a direct answer without explaining it in a way that only my friends can understand, all i can say was that it was that he was an adult still in high school. nothing wrong there but his character itself was willing to mock sports in a cafeteria. in high school. a high school with teenagers where sports was mostly important

and i myself can’t really like the fact the eddie decided to hold a dnd campaign on the one day lucas was to play and expecting his friends to be there. except lucas’ wanted to play the campaign and even brought in his little sister as a replacement i just won’t ever understand that part.

i can’t say much more without bothering you but these are all spoilers that i’ve read since st fans like to post their thoughts ght here. but also because i stopped watching after season three. mostly because i’m delusional enough to say that if billy never died then max wouldn’t have carried this burden where she’s targeted by vecna.

It’s fine, you don’t have to really worry about bothering me. But, yes I can assure you that part of the reason people suddenly hated Eddie was because they thought the fanbase was weird. Now, it’s mostly been on things like YouTube and Tiktok more than Tumblr, but yeah, it was a reason that people hated him.

And, regarding the cafeteria scene, I had interpreted it as he wasn’t necessarily mocking basketball or sports, but he was rather mocking how unfair it was that the Hellfire Club was considered “weird” or “dangerous” or “the freaks” for liking to play Dungeons and Dragons while being interested in things like sports or parties or something was viewed as normal and socially acceptable.

And with the campaign thing, it wasn’t really his intention to plan it on the exact same time at the game, in fact, he wasn’t really unaware of it being championship game, he had the campaign planned out for a while. And, also most of the basketball games, Lucas sat on the bench, so they didn’t really know for sure whether he’d end up playing or not. Also, Mike and Dustin were the ones who got Erica to play for him, since Eddie suggested that if Lucas can’t play, than somebody would just have to sub for him during the campaign.

Although, I feel like some of these scenarios depend on the perspective you look at it from and the interpretation. But, this was just my interpretation of them, but you are entitled to your own opinion.

The RotBTD+ Gang Plays DnD! (Feat. my ships, sorry not sorry XD)

So highkey I’ve actually been wanting to do a “The Gang Plays DnD” type post for AGES now, but then I saw @hobie-brown and @ohlooksheswriting-wips do DnD AU posts for RotBTD, and then I was like “Ah shit, I really should finish mine, eh?” So thank you to both of you for inspiring me to get off my ass and actually write the post!!!

Hiccup DMs. He comes up with this super complex plot revolving around dragons (because of course) where the party has to dismantle this society ruled by evil knights who want to genocide all of the dragons. Imagine his chagrin when the party wants to do nothing but fuck around in towns and aggravate NPCs 90% of the time.

They usually end up playing at Jack’s apartment, mainly because Hiccup’s dad doesn’t really want a bunch of loud nerds yelling about 20-sided dice in his household while he’s trying to work, if he can at all help it. Jack’s sister regularly barges into their living room and roasts the fuck out of Jack and his friends for being such damn nerds and eats all of their DnD snacks they’ve set out. If they’re in the middle of a combat session, she always gleefully proclaims that they’re all going to die. While Jack is annoyed by this, the rest of the party finds it deeply hilarious.

Jack Overland plays the absolute mayhem warlock Jack Frost, who got his powers through making a deal with the archfey Prince of Frost and has absolutely no qualms about being an evil god’s mortal Sower of Chaos. He spends the vast majority of the campaign doing such useful things as creating ice slicks under annoying NPCs and freezing people’s drinks. He also plays a Tiefling because absolutely no one can talk this boy out of playing the creepy demon race.

Rapunzel plays a woodland nymph druid who is also the party healer (because of course she is). Her name is probably Sunlily or something else suitably hippie-esque. Whenever there’s downtime (or whenever the rest of the party is also dicking around, and she can get away with it), Rapunzel likes to go into the nearest forest and pick the best berries and nuts for the rest of the party. She also loves baking fruit pies and cooking the best nymph food for her companions when given the chance. Definitely the party Cinnamon Roll (every party has one!). She often will turn into cute animals to distract the guards while the party infiltrates a building.

Merida’s character is the party archer and general ranged weapon master, as well as a raging lesbian. Hiccup learns very quickly that any male NPC who tries to flirt with her will very quickly get impaled with an arrow. She can’t ever decide if she wants to be a ranger or a rogue, so she multiclasses in both for flare. She also plays a Tiefling, and continually insists that her character is both scarier and sexier than Jack’s. In combat, she either Leeroy Jenkins her way in with a sword and just starts slashing every which way, or just shoots 90% of the enemies with arrows before the fight even starts. There’s really no in between. She can get away with this because she’s highkey one of the party tanks, and consistently deals a shitton of damage.

Anna plays a human bard, basically having read over the class options and going “Wait, in this one I get to make stylish medieval music??? And wear dramatic and garish outfits and a dumb hat??? And cast wacky illusion spells??? And do silly little magic tricks??? And INSPIRE EVERYONE??? Hell yeah, I’m in!!!” She mostly uses magic attacks in combat (definitely favors Tasha’s Hideous Laughter), but occasionally when she’s out of spell slots she’ll just take to slamming enemies in the face with her lute. She also has WAY too much fun with Vicious Mockery, let’s be real.

Elsa, upon hearing Jack’s character concept, rolls her eyes so far up in her head she can see her damn brain, and vows to play his concept, but serious–solely out of spite. She rolls up a super OP elf Chaos Sorcerer, filled with lots of brooding angst about how uncontrollable her winter powers can get if she isn’t careful. She combines it a bit with Storm Sorcerer so she can create literal blizzards, and Hiccup ends up allowing it just because he thinks it’s cool. Although Elsa’s character is undoubtedly aggravated by the rest of the party’s antics, she starts becoming grudgingly protective of these idiots and can deal some pretty crazy damage when her companions are threatened. She also contains one of the party’s only brain cells.

Eugene of course plays dashing rogue master thief Flynn Rider. Although his high deception and lockpicking skills certainly come in handy, he’s the most chaotic neutral fucker you’ve ever met and will take any excuse to rob NPCs blind or cheat them out of every cent they have in a tavern card game. It’s nigh impossible to get him to cooperate with the rest of the party much of the time, and often Elsa’s character has to either bribe him with some of her family’s gold or threaten to freeze him to stop him backstabbing one or more party members. Eugene’s character forces Hiccup to add in many more heist plotlines than he originally intended. This delights Eugene immensely, and sometimes he goes a bit crazy planning elaborate heists.

Moana plays a sorcerer water genasi. She can control any body of water, but she has a special affinity for controlling saltwater (i.e. the ocean lol). She also requests an animal handling bonus, but only with marine animals, solely because she thought it would be funny. She’s also an ex-pirate who robbed a lot of wealthy merchant ships and freed their slaves back in the day, which Merida thinks is incredibly badass. Moana tends to get bored and unengaged when there are no bodies of water to play around with, so Hiccup ends up having to add a lot more lakes, rivers, and oceans to the campaign than he originally planned on. Moana also takes a sailing skill, and thus the party often ends up traveling by boat. Typically Eugene and Rapunzel will infiltrate and hijack it, and Moana will sail it. Moana probably contains the party’s only other brain cell.

Astrid plays a gigantic berserker orc barbarian who is never without his trusty axe. Astrid is hands down the party’s top tank, and unquestionably deals the most damage every combat session. Much like Merida’s character, Astrid’s character is absolutely a shameless power fantasy. Hiccup pretty easily picks up on this, but is too polite to say anything about it. Jack also picks up on this, but is hardly as courteous as their DM, and teases Astrid mercilessly. Astrid is not amused.

Rapunzel requests that her weapon of choice be a frying pan, her justification being that her character found a discarded one at the edge of a human village outside her woods and mistaked it for a highly-dangerous human weapon. Hiccup is like “…you know what? Fuck it” and rolls up stats for a goddamn frying pan. Jack has nigh-endless admiration for Rapunzel for choosing such a goddamn memey, absurd, yet oddly effective weapon and it definitely makes the poor boy even more smitten with her than he already is.

Eugene and Merida have a bet going on who can sleep with more sexy barmaids. Merida is currently winning, much to Eugene’s chagrin. She’s not even inherently better at seducing NPCs, she and Eugene have the same charisma stat–she just consistently rolls better than Eugene. Eugene is incredibly salty about this.

Anna and Elsa want to be sisters in-game as well, but neither want to change their race–so Anna decides her character was adopted. Hiccup and the rest of the party go along with it, mainly because there’s something deeply hilarious about a regular human bard being adopted and raised by a family of high-powered elf ice mages.

Astrid is absolutely the sort of player who tends to get bored and restless outside of fights, and tends to fidget and twiddle her thumbs waiting for the next combat session. Jack picks up on this, and purposely does more roleplay for longer just to piss her off. He’s also just a very dramatic fucker and highkey loves roleplay.

When she’s not causing mayhem around the town or sleeping with hot women, Merida tries to entertain Astrid between combat sessions by offering to spar with her. Unfortunately, this does not usually end well for poor Merida, as even the most hardcore and badass of tieflings is prone to getting dumpstered by an 8-foot-tall barbarian orc with an axe. Astrid is, nonetheless, grateful to have someone to fight.

Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana will humor Hiccup and attempt to actually play the main plot. Meanwhile, Jack, Merida, and Eugene are a DM’s worst nightmare. They constantly derail the damn campaign to fuck around, cause mayhem, and do inane shenanigans in every. Damn. Town. They go to. Anna is kind of a wildcard–she’ll typically go with whatever group looks like they’re going to be doing something more interesting. Astrid will go along with whichever group is more likely to get into a fight–which, often as not, is Jack and his posse of terrible Chaotic Neutrals (who have definitely pissed off a number of NPCs into attacking them).

As the campaign goes on, Elsa and Eugene become the beleaguered Party Mom and Dad. Both are quite aggravated by this–especially poor Eugene, who just wanted to play a morally-gray charming rogue who stole everything and got away with it and then accidentally ended up caring about these idiots he got stuck with.

Anna initially joins the campaign because she has a planet-size crush on Hiccup, and inevitably is the one who dragged Elsa into it too. Being the hopeless romantic that she is, Anna writes a love interest into her backstory. Hiccup eventually has the party run into said love interest, and Anna is overjoyed. He starts flirting with her as the love interest, and it’s easily the best 30 minutes of Anna’s life.

Moana and Elsa also give Hiccup pretty detailed backstories, and he works in little subplots for them. Moana gets to bring water back to a dying part of the jungle in the middle of a draught, while Elsa gets to go on a whole sidequest to explore her family history and how they came to be sorcerers.

Jack, Merida, and Eugene also give Hiccup fairly elaborate backstories, but Jack’s and Merida’s are like 99% memes and Dumb Shit. Hiccup tries to give all of them backstory-related plot hooks, but inevitably any hooks he provides are either stabbed, robbed, or frozen. Honestly any plot hook offered to these 3 will be all but spat in the face of and tossed off a cliff.

The one relevant part of Eugene’s backstory is that he and Rapunzel decide they used to be partners in crime before the campaign started. Rapunzel would infiltrate and scout out places he wanted to rob as small, unobtrusive animals (her preferred Wild Shape is a chameleon) and later distract the guards as a bunny or kitten while he went in and took every gold coin in sight. In return, Flynn Rider would bribe builders to not develop into Sunlily’s forest. Rapunzel and Eugene partly came up with this For Funsies, but also it was Rapunzel’s sneaky way of tricking Eugene into having prior connections in the party so he’d be less likely to betray them. It works pretty well–although the entire party is protective of Cinnamon Roll Sunlily, Flynn is certainly especially protective of her.

Astrid does the absolute bare minimum as far as backstories go. She is literally just here to smash stuff, slice people, and beat some fuckers up.

Rapunzel has a backstory, but she’s typically so invested in the main plot and the other party members that Hiccup rarely needs to bring it in to keep her engaged. She’s highkey the party emotional rock, and probably the only one keeping them all together.

On that note, Rapunzel’s character is the ONLY one who can get Jack’s character to take the plot even REMOTELY seriously. Like he’ll be dicking around in the nearest tavern challenging the nearest orc to a drinking game, and Rapunzel will come in and ask him to help them on a Main Plot Quest. And he’ll be like “come onnnnn I’m having funnn” and she’ll be like “Jack pleeeeeease?” and you just. Can’t resist Sunlily’s puppy dog eyes. At all. Also, whenever Sunlily is genuinely threatened, any silliness immediately goes out the window and Jack Frost is OUT FOR BLOOD.

For better or for worse, Rapunzel is not immune to being looped into Jack’s shenanigans. Occasionally if either Merida or Eugene have a particularly hare-brained scheme she’ll go along with it, but by and large Jack is the most successful in convincing her to temporarily abandon the plot and cause mild mischief with him. They once wasted half a session creating an elaborate “ice theme park” for some squirrels in the forest.

Hiccup tries to get Merida to play the main plot by eventually having there be no more sexy female NPCs to seduce in the towns they go to. Unfortunately, this backfires–Merida just hooks up with Moana’s character instead. When asked to roll for how good the lay is, Merida gets a nat 20–and thus her character and Moana’s character end up hooking up regularly throughout the rest of the campaign.

Hiccup introduces a few Wise Old Mentor-type NPCs to guide the party throughout the campaign. While Rapunzel, Elsa, Moana, and Anna actually try to listen to them and take their advice, Merida, Jack, and Eugene absolutely refuse to take them seriously and mercilessly play pranks on them.

At one point, Hiccup gives the party the option to attempt to tame a group of wild dragons and use them as mounts. They all have to make animal handling checks. Anna, Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana pass. The rest of the party fails, with Jack and Eugene crit-failing. Hilarity ensues.

Hiccup ends up bringing back Anna’s backstory love interest as an NPC regular. Anna thinks he’s just being a good friend and a good DM and trying to incorporate her backstory as much as he can, but really, he just wants an excuse to regularly flirt with her. He hardly has the balls to out-of-game.

Merida comes out as gay toward the end of the campaign. Everyone in the group is extremely supportive, of course, but everyone is also like “Merida…with the amount of barmaids you’ve banged…and the amount of times you and Moana’s character hooked up…this isn’t exactly surprising.”

Hiccup actually finds a way to use Jack and Elsa’s same-concept-opposite-execution characters to the plot’s advantage. He decides one of the main villains will have a prophecy saying he’ll be taken down by a powerful ice mage. The party manages to fool this guy into thinking this ice mage is Jack, and sends Jack to fight him. As soon as the villain sees Jack, he’s like “WHAT??? THIS clown???” (word has absolutely spread throughout the land of Jack not using his ice powers for anything besides mildly annoying trolling). Naturally, the bad guy lets his guard down after thinking he’s going to fight this literal joke, and then Elsa crashes in from the side and absolutely dumpsters him.

Jack tries to defeat the final boss by just annoying him so much that he leaves. Unfortunately, he just annoys him so much that he attacks Rapunzel’s character. Jack’s just like “oh HELL no” and attacks with absolutely nothing held back. Turns out he’s pretty terrifying when he’s not using his magic for Dumb Antics.

During the final boss of the campaign, the Big Bad tries to one-shot Moana’s character, and Merida’s character super theatrically jumps in front of her to take the blow instead. Rapunzel just barely manages to heal Merida’s character, but it’s a really close call. During all this, Merida is like “ah shit...maybe I’m NOT just in this to get fantasy-laid.” After the fight’s over, her and Moana’s characters have a big dramatic love confession and share a Big Damn Kiss in front of everyone. It’s pretty epic.

After the final session of the campaign, Merida drags Moana outside Jack’s apartment and sputters and trips over her words for a solid minute before she finally gets out that through all this nonsense...well...maybe it’s not just in the game that she thinks Moana is hot. Moana just gets this HUGE grin on her face and says “c’mere, Leeroy Jenkins” and just pulls Merida in and kisses her. Cue the rest of the party barging in on them. Merida and Moana freeze, and there’s a moment of terrified silence...and then the entire party starts cheering them on like “took you long enough!”

The entire rest of the party could detect the sexual tension. Literally all of them.

But Eugene is like “HA, THIS MEANS IF WE DO A SEQUEL CAMPAIGN I’M WINNING THAT BET! BECAUSE YOU’RE GONNA BE DATING MO’S CHAR AND THUS NOT ABLE TO SLEEP WITH ANY MORE BARMAIDS!”

By the epilogue session, Jack and Rapunzel are dating. Merida and Moana are also dating. Hiccup and Anna STILL haven’t figured out why they’re so prone to spending half the session flirting when Anna’s love interest shows up, and Hiccup STILL hasn’t figured out why he likes to have Anna’s love interest show up so often. Bless their souls. Maybe they’ll figure it out next campaign...?

Damn I actually really like this...maybe if people like it I’ll do some incorrect quotes or a drabble or something??? Or maybe some HCs from next campaign???

Officially? Just 1 - Agents of Shield (two, I guess, if you count MCU as separate, since I use characters from both...). Off the record, many more than that! I have lots of bits and bobs from other fandoms that I tinkered with when I was younger, still getting the hang of writing, not brave enough to post things, etc. etc. Some of those include X-Men, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the Fosters, Star Wars, the Hunger Games, the 39 Clues, and a few others I can’t remember. None of those will likely see the light of day, mostly because they’re unfinished, not very good, and just not reflective of who I am as a writer anymore, but they were fun to play around with at the time :)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I just have the two, but The Important Thing is to Try wins, hands down, with 1227. Shoulder to Shoulder has 95, though, which I’m also very proud of! Important Thing has a definite advantage, being as long as it is, so I don’t know if that’s really a fair comparison between them.

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes! Or at least, I always try to! I just can’t believe someone would be kind enough to take the time to tell me what they thought of my story, so I always want to take the time to thank them and return the favor :) Plus, as I’ve learned, it’s a fantastic way to get to know some really lovely people!

6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Well... I technically only have one story that has an ending, at least on Ao3, and it’s not an especially angsty one, since it ends in Phil and Melinda getting married :) I have some angsty chapter endings in Important Thing, if that counts? I’m not even sure if any of my unpublished fiddlings have angsty endings (most don’t have endings at all lol)... I don’t mind writing angst, but I don’t know if I’m capable of making something without a happy (or at least hopeful) ending.

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've ever written?

Not really, unless you count AoS/MCU crossovers (which I guess technically count, but also I would argue it’s not a true crossover since (and I will die on this hill) AoS is a part of MCU canon). When I was younger I was a fan of playing around with crossover AUs more so than the actual characters crossing paths (so like, what if these characters from XYZ were demigods or went to Hogwarts or what have you, and not so much what would happen if the X-Men met Luke, Leia, and Han on one of their space adventures). I started writing a crossover between AoS and the Marvel Rising cartoon once (which again, not sure if that’s a true crossover, since Daisy was in Marvel Rising, but I digress), where Coulson tasks Daisy to work with Kate Bishop and Rayshaun Lucas to collect and train a team of young Inhumans, starting with Kamala Khan, but I ran out of steam pretty quickly when it got too plot heavy.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I don’t think so. I’ve had some people not understand some choices that I made, but they asked it in a way that I thought was perfectly nice, and I was happy to talk about it with them. Sometimes people get “mad” at me when I cause pain and suffering, but I know that’s all in good fun :)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope, not for me. I don’t read it or write it, personally. Writing a kiss is hard enough!

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge! Important Thing is probably too long and unwieldy to ever steal :P

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Someone once asked me on FFN if they could translate Important Thing to Russian, which was basically the coolest thing I’ve ever been asked!

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

A fic, no. I’d love to try sometime! I had a friend in college who I co-wrote with A LOT, though, so I know I enjoy that process, given the right partner. We wrote several short plays together (ranging from ~15-50 minutes in length, including one that we wrote in a single afternoon!), selected scenes from a larger (unfinished) play inspired by historical letters we found in an archive that were sent between a man from Massachusetts serving in the American Civil War, his wife, and his 8-year-old son, and several scripts for TV sitcoms (2 pilots for 2 different shows, plus additional eps for those pilots, and a couple of later eps for a different show that a classmate of ours wrote the pilot for - we were trying to practice what it would be like to be on a staff with a showrunner haha). The sitcom scripts in particular I’m very proud of, and could talk somebody’s ear off about if asked (one’s about ghost hunters and one’s about a DnD party!), but maybe that’s better saved for another post ;)

13. What's your all-time favorite ship?

That’s a very hard question for me! Mostly because shipping stuff is usually one of the last things to register for me when I’m thinking about shows/books/movies I like haha... I’m always a sucker for Philinda, and younger me was rather taken with Percabeth, I suppose.

14. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Hmm, several, really. The aforementioned AoS/Marvel Rising crossover I think could be really cool if I got it to work, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen. I also have a WIP that’s like an angstier version of a Hallmark Christmas movie AU where Daisy has to come home to her small town right before Christmas and figure out what she wants out of life, but I’m a little stalled out on that one, mostly because I’m waffling on who the charming love interest should be and because I don’t have enough of a plot, just lots of feelings about coming back home to a place you thought you had left behind lol.

I’d put Important Thing and it’s (as of yet) untitled sequel on here as things I want to finish, but I’m much more determined to see those through, so I don’t think they qualify for the “never will actually write” part of this question :)

15. What are your writing strengths?

I don’t know if other people agree with this, but I think I write pretty decent dialogue. My “training” (if you can call it that) is in, as you might have figured out by now, script and screenplay writing (those were the only creative writing classes I took in college). So having a sense of the rhythm a conversation needs to have and how to write dialogue that sounds mostly like how people really talk (but shined and tightened up enough so that it’s not actually like verbatim dialogue, which is far less interesting to read!) is something that I feel like comes pretty easily. I also think I do okay with similes and metaphors - my brain tends to work in that way. It’s easier for me to think of stuff (feelings, especially) in terms of comparing it to more familiar things than to just think of the thing directly, if that makes sense?

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

If I was being honest, this would be a very long section, but I know it’s not fun to read a big ol’ paragraph of someone self-criticizing, so I’ll keep it to one or two items ;) A big one for me is pacing, I think. I tend to write more than I need to and to over-explain things, so my chapters get very long and sometimes don’t really go anywhere? Until all of the sudden, they DO, because things need to HAPPEN! I’m a pretty rigorous self-editor, but I do have a really hard time cutting out sections (unless they’re really just not working), so even if it would help the pacing to leave out this conversation between character A and character B, I often can’t make myself cut it. I also think I struggle sometimes with balancing my ‘showing’ and my ‘telling,’ especially in the sense of me over-explaining certain things - like when it comes to feelings/facial expressions/etc, for example. I compensate for that in Important Thing by making it a part of a few people’s POV, but it’s not really a good habit to have in general. Also spelling! I’m really bad at spelling and run my stuff through robust spellchecks and text-to-speech before I post anything to make up for it :)

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I do it with some regularity, although I always get nervous about doing it wrong! It’s hard to avoid in AoS, where characters are spies and should (in theory, at least) have a working knowledge of multiple languages (”We’re spies, I thought we all learned languages?!”). Even in an AU, where characters aren’t spies, I like to try and pay homage to that, plus pay homage to certain characters’ native languages or just general multilingualism. I’ve spent a fair amount of time around people who speak more than one language, so I feel like it’s a natural part of groups of people to have more than one language spoken. I have a pretty good handle on written Spanish, a patchy idea of French, plus I know some Russian phrases from my dad and some German words from my grandfather, but I do rely on internet translation a lot. I usually run stuff through google, then run it backwards to see just how far off the initial translation was, then consult some actual, like, language learning sites to see if there’s particular idioms or common phrases that use different words than what google will give me, then run those words through backwards in the place of the original words to see if I can massage the whole thing to sound reasonably competent. Languages like Russian or Mandarin (which have their own alphabets/characters) are the hardest, since I have to also try and do a transliteration. I always try to put an apology/disclaimer in the notes any time I write in a language that isn’t English, because I’m sure I make lots of mistakes.

Also, I tend not to italicize words that are in other languages, because it looks weird on the page to me to set the other language apart like that (and because I italicize mainly for internal thoughts or emphasis, and usually what’s being said in another language isn’t internal or being emphasized). I put a rough translation at the end so we don’t have to pause the story for a parenthetical translation, but because the translation’s not right there, I try to either put in enough context clues that a person can still understand what’s going on, or I make sure that what’s written in another language isn’t critical to the overall understanding of the scene.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Officially, it’s AoS, since that’s the only fandom I’ve published for. I think the first true fandom I wrote fic for was probably either Harry Potter (entirely populated with OCs lol, I just liked using the world/setting), Percy Jackson (a mix of OCs and canon characters), or X-Men (all canon characters). I was a bit of a latecomer to fanfiction, though, like, I wrote a ton as a kid, but mostly original stuff, because I didn’t know that fanfiction in its current form was even allowed until I was in high school lol.

Oh! I almost forgot one! I’m not sure if this really counts as a fandom, but it’s definitely the earliest version of fanfic I wrote haha... I was like 12 and I wrote more than one story of an OC joining Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men, and then also one of that same OC becoming a knight of the Round Table, so like... do what you will with that information haha.

19. What's you're favorite fic you've written?

I can’t choose between my two darlings :( I mean, okay, technically it’s probably Important Thing. That story’s my baby. It’s huge and I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years, and I’ve poured a lot of my heart and soul into it. I’ve fallen in love with the universe I built in it, so much so that I wrote an entire prequel and have very concrete plans for a lengthy sequel. But I can’t not crow about Shoulder to Shoulder (the aforementioned prequel!), too... I’m just really proud of that one - it has a lot of firsts for me. First completed story. First romance-focused story. First foray into expanding the Important Thing universe. But yes, if I have to choose, then Important Thing wins. That’s a story that I started writing exclusively for myself - to give myself characters I could relate to and to explore a style of AoS fic that I loved reading - and that’s a story I will always and forever be proud of.

I also enjoyed writing Lobo for two minutes years ago, and while my experiences writing Kaine have not been good, he’s still a favorite character that I did get to write some pretty thought out plots with for a while

What inspired you to take on your current muse (that you are posting this on):  An irl friend from highschool that I had on tumblr (everyone say hi to @sharpglance) started a blog for J.arvis for the group @kneeltoyourking had just started after Av.enge.rs in 2012. I had just glutted myself on Ta.ser.Tricks fanfic and knew I could probably reasonably write Darcy, and also I had this thing with being in the middle of things without being too important, which Darcy fit into perfectly at the time.

What are your favourite aspects of your current muse: Darcy has just enough canon to be relevant, but not enough that I feel choked writing her. I (and all the other Darcy writers!) have to fill in the blanks, leading to some big divisions from canon after a while. I love that she’s irreverent, that even when she’s scared she can put on the same face as when she’s irritated and not many people can tell the difference. She’s fast acting, too! The first sign of Thor being possibly dangerous and Darcy tases him, to protect herself and Jane from a giant strange man.

What’s your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing: Having a partner who I can bounce things off of! Off the top of my head, Seras, Koji and even Malakh are the ones I feel this the most with, but I genuinely love just chatting with partners about possible directions for threads or plots. In general, I have a spo.tify playlist for writing that is mostly instrumental with a few very low vocal pieces, and I do pull an awful lot from poetry, too, and romantic prose. I used to find a lot of inspiration in interviews and stand up stuff from Kev.in Sm.ith but not so much in the past few years. Favourite types of threads: intense, dramatic things! angst that has culminated over several different events! emotional climaxes! Crack can be fun, but I have a lot of trouble continuing those kinds of threads unless there’s a predestined point.

Biggest struggle in regards to your current muse: like Mojito, time is my worst enemy. I feel like I’m not around when most of y’all are and it cuts into plotting or even just me being able to throw a meme into y’all’s askboxes.  Also, establishing why Darcy is anywhere anyone else’s muses are. I have a lot of trouble building something between muses without a continued reason for contact between them, and that isn’t always easy!

Time: As I write this, it’s 2:41 PM. I got home early from work and I’m gonna make dinner and play swtor. Two days off, finally~ 

Favorite bands: I listen to a looot of music, so it’s a huge mix, also just a few songs from most artists but-- so uh, the best indication of my favorites are my character playlists. It’s all over the place. So like, Dire Straits, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy (just asserted itself with 5-6 songs and stayed) The Score.

Favorite solo artists: Also see above. But: Hozier. Possibly the only solo artist I know and listen to every single song from. 

Song stuck in my head: currently? The entire Hozier (Special Edition) Album. I brought it on myself by listening it to sleep.

Last movie: Shawshank Redemption, last week I had a movie morning. I watched Green Mile just before it. It was a day tm.

Last show: I’m still slugging through iZombie, like 4th time. I’ll finish it one day damn it.

When did I create this blog: Good question. Somewhere last year, late summer? At least the darth-bagel one. My main was around since like, 2017? I was nearly an adult before I discovered tumbler xd

What do I post: random swtor things, but mostly just a lot of screens and my army of oc’s. also ramblings, and writing. i try to keep it all swtor oriented tho.

Last thing I googled: okay, it was ‘tresor berlin coins’. some delivery guy dropped few pink plastic coins with “tresor berlin” on it and i was very curious. it’s a night club with underground music and techno-- now we all know.

Do I get asks: I do! I am working on them, slowly. Maybe not a huge amount but they, accumulated on me. I have so much writing to do xd

Why I chose my url: So. I am working in a bagel shop, it’s my third year at this point-- and one day I just made a joke about a Darth Bagel sandwich we could make-- we never did. But the name stayed with me. So. Now I am a Darth Bagel. (I started calling my one other coworker a Grand Moff Bagel so. we are on brand)

Dream job: I don’t know. This job I have is not so bad--my boss is an insufferable ass, but it pays well enough.

I once wanted to have my own cafe tho? With games and dnd and ungodly amounts of good tea. But for now I’ll just settle for a stable job that doesn’t drive me mad.

Dream trip: I’d love to visit all my friends in America one day. And see some of the cities as well, although at this point I do have friends all over. So, uh. I’ll make a list one day XD
