tbh, and not to be rude or anything, but i've literally never seen you or mrthology comment on anything except for ig close knit friends works? like anxious_tofu, stardustupinlights, each other, and the occasional gift fic. which makes me think: don't you think it's a bit hypocritical of you and mrthology to tell everyone commenting is important and that everyone should comment, but you never do? like going through the comment section in the perpollo discord server fics, and i've never see you guys there. have you considering how that make someone feel? like you preach about the importance of commenting, but you yourself don't equally show that support. and i understand it being like preference, or like a fic you just don't want to read, but almost all of them???
and honestly, even some fic you've read, and i know you read them because you left kudos, you left no comment. and i remember thinking "oh i wonder what ashilrak has to say?" and there's just...nothing. zero. and i was like "okay maybe i'm early or they forget" and i went back later to still see...nothing. i wish i could tell you what fic this was tbh. i don't think you know how much of an impact your comment and kudos can leave. like you, and i know you're just human, but you're still seen as like the original perpollo authors. like you guys are the mods and any kind words you have to say would go a long way.
i just think that's something you guys should work on. again, not trying to be rude, but i've been in the server for almost a year and observing this (i'm a lurker, and please don't try to look for me) but this is just my own observations. correct me if i'm wrong please, and i really hope i am.
Hi! You're not being rude, and I'd much rather have these conversations than let this sorta thing fester. Commenting is extremely important, and I am extremely vocal in its importance. It's something I haven't always been the best at, and I know when I first started reading fic in PJO before I started writing I definitely wasn't commenting that much. Part of the reason I'm so annoying about it is because it's a reminder to myself as well.
Kudos don't have timestamps, but the timing is a potential explanation for some. I also will sometimes add kudos when I'm adding fics to collections (the perpollo server collection, the midnight musings collection, etc) if I see the author didn't add it themself out of habit.
But honestly? Most of it (especially recently) is that I just haven't been reading? Like a fic I really enjoy is alone at the edge of the universe by sarcastic_metaphor, which you will find me in the comment section of, and I have the last four or five updates just sitting in my inbox untouched.
Screenshots of my inbox and comments I've left under a read more because I don't want to sound like I'm just making excuses
Tumblr media
Even people who you named, like anxious_tofu, are currently sitting unread (along with dracula daily)
Tumblr media
I wish I could share my ao3 history; it's all the exchange and a page or two or the hobbit from a couple weeks ago when I needed to cleanse myself of Rings of Power. I just haven't been in a reading mood.
But, to show that I do try and comment on the fic I read (and you don't have to take me at my word), here are some PJO fics I can rec (not gifted to me or written by stardustupinlights, mrthology, or anxious_tofu) and screenshots of the comments I've left (some I'm definitely not up to date with): A Small Error by butterflies_stormclouds
Tumblr media
stripped bare (for you) by visiblyuncomfortl
Tumblr media
alone at the edge of a universe by sarcastic_metaphor
Tumblr media
tallying tragedies on my fingers by sappho_in_space

Tumblr media
Aphrodite's Mask by aphroditesfavorite
Tumblr media
I know the end by RunningHaunted
Tumblr media
Lakeside Misunderstanding by ImmortalSimulacrum
Tumblr media
Like, I'm fully not the best commenter, but really it comes down more to me not reading much. I can only speak for myself, but I know that mrthology reads even less than I do.
I'm genuinely sorry for any hurt I have caused, and intention does not change impact, but I promise it wasn't on purpose.

lets be friends lol
heyyy, my name is monse but you can call me Mo. i’m an 18 y/o mexican american w ADHD, i think that sums me up ok.
i’ve posted something like this two years in a row so let’s just make it a tradition :)
i’m about to graduate highschool and i’m honestly scared. my first post to try and make friend was about liking one direction, harry styles, and some other stuff i’ve forgotten, last years post was about me liking Minecraft youtubers and all that, but it’s safe to say those are no longer my main hyperfixations. i’m always down to talk about the minecraft community (the good and bad),the toxicity of the internet in general, and to discuss important topics overall, though, my current obsession is now percy jackson again.
To all of the seniors going through tough times right now and are feeling lost, scared, and not ready, i feel you. if you need someone to hear you out just hit me up. really, as dumb as you think you sound or feel, feelings are feelings. dealing with mental illness and other unhealthy habits at this point makes me feel a little bit helpless and scared to move on from high school, but i have to remind myself that i am not alone in this, that other people understand this feeling too. so im here for you, and proud of all of us who have tried our best to make it to graduation.
but anyways,,, let me tell you about me and my relationship with PJO
i loved percy jackson when i was in middle school and it was my whole childhood. i never finished the heroes of olympus series because i think i was scared to have it all come to an end. Now that i’m a senior about to graduate i’ve decided to reread the books and finally finish the series, and i need people to talk to about the books :D i think finishing this series is the closure that i need, but i feel like many people (especially seniors) are going through tough spots right now and if you need someone to talk to and if you are willing to hear me rant about percy jackson once in a while don’t be shy to hit me up! just a “hey” to start a convo and it can lead somewhere
and of course pery jackson isnt the only thing ive been liking recently,if you want to talk music im always open to reccomendations! currently ive been back into tyler the creator but i think he might just be my all-time fav, rex orange county being a close second though, ive also been listening to panic at the disco again lmfao mostly the first two albums tho because they are the best (i don't accept criticism on this), and i guess ive been listeing to some mac miller, will wood, glass animals, harry styles, declan mckenna, and a bit of carseatheadrest loll.
i like minecraft, geoguessr and tbh i love playing fortnite because i suck and its really funny to do dumb shit so im down to game if you want. (i also have stardew and terraria if anyone would like to play with me). if you can teach me or want to learn how to play chess with me that would be sick tooi also quite enjoy crafting, i occasionally like to crochet, make friendship bracelets, make silly little clay things, draw, and paint.
I dont watch many shows or movies but i am really fucking excited for the new season of the umbrella academy to come out and for the new doctor strange movie as well, like SO excited. and ofc the PJO series that is in the works AHHH. my current fave youtubers are the sturniolo triplets and the only podcast i watch/listen to is the chuckle sandwich podcast but i do love emergency intercom as well.
so yeah, hmu if you wanna chat about anything and everything, all of the time ;) (also i forgot to mention that im gay but if you are homophobic please leave)

about me:
I'm here to shitpost and look at pretty things, and hopefully find interesting spiritual anecdotes from other folks too! this blog has turned into - mostly - a collection of information to pair with my real life studies into esoteric knowledge and my personal religious/spiritual path. I also vent on here at times in the form of prose usually, but sometimes just screaming :) lol
I'm currently studying a form of Feral Druidry with some guidance from my former roomie/my good friend, who is a Druid Priest, as well as taking online courses! I started my spiritual path with An Mórrígan from the Irish pantheon. I studied Heathenry for awhile to connect with Hel, whom I still love and work with even if I've shifted in my path more. I incorporate some practice from Cultus Deorum/Roman paganism because I connected with Venus as well last year during Yule! Past those three, who I work with loosely, I also work with the concept of "The Wild" as an overarching theme, they are all the unexplainable energies in my life and push me to challenge myself as much as the Goddess figureheads I love do <3
You'll often find me writing miscellaneous bullshit and putting a melody to it in my feeble attempts at making music. ( check out my youtube channel here: https://youtube.com/@willowcrowluxx )
I have two cats! one is a shorthaired blonde tailless boy named Nubbin, and then a longhaired black, poofy tailed baby named Binx!
I'm currently in therapy working through ptsd stuff etc, so you will definitely see me get emo on the dashboard every now and again. my apologies in advance.

Fanfic ask game for procrastinating on writing, that's what I'm understanding here, got it.
(tagged by @mllekurtz, thank you! these are super fun questions)
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
55! Jeeeeeez that's a lot.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
295k. (Maybe it's because I come from the writing month world but that's the only stat I genuinely pay attention to lol.)
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
In current times, only Critical Role—back in the day I wrote on ff.net for Heroes and Castle and a few YA books.
4) What are your top five fics by kudos?
before it buries me
This was... actually my first shadowgast fic! One-shot set right after 91.
now I will ask you to be brave
Okay, so, this fic. I will not describe it, as I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. I started it right after hiatus with lofty ambitions and promptly realized my hubris, and now it is definitely never going to be finished. I did not get far. My deepest apologies to anyone who has read it and wanted more.
seeing eye to eye
One-shot of the nein running into Essek's family, and Beau understanding him a little better, rich kid with shitty parents to rich kid with shitty parents. A very specific characterization of Deirta in here, mostly filtered through Beau's mentality, which was so fun to write.
not from the absence of violence
OLD GUARD AU MY BELOVED. I desperately want to write in this au more but have not had the time or ideas, but holy shit I love this au so much.
cruel tricks the gods play
Another pre-97 shadowgast one-shot—the peace talks go very wrong and Caleb and Essek end up pulling a Titanic on a plank of wood after the ship sinks. Very fun, very no longer canon-compliant.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
So, okay, I do not, but this is a Thing for me, because I have, inexplicably, deep panic about responding to ao3 comments. I do not know why. I can feel physical panic thinking about it now. I aggressively hate it because I do really want to respond to comments because commenters are so lovely! I think it is a combination of my brain not knowing the culture of ao3 interaction well enough that it seems alarming (thanks, neurodivergence) and college screenwriting workshops in which I was taught not to respond during critique.
In any case, I do not have the same weird panic about tumblr interactions, so I'm always down to chat here.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
You know, for all of the angst that I write, I don't really write angsty endings. I think my two main Verin-centric fics (laid out one by one and this guilt-ridden heart) end kind of angstily, because that relationship isn't gonna be fixed in a conversation. But in general I think the worst I've got is bittersweet.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't—I'd have to have a really, really good concept to write a crossover.
8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not that I can remember, though who knows if I got any in high school. I'm a little impervious to flames anyway—again, workshop classes helped with the reminders that critique is what's useful, while hate is just, 'you can't please everyone'.
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do not!
10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I mean, not that I'm aware of lol.
11) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
13) What’s your all time favourite ship?
I mean, currently? Shadowgast. I don't have an all-time.
14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
sweet child. "Someday!" she says, shaking her fist at an unforgiving god.
15) What are your writing strengths?
I've suddenly forgotten every comment I've ever gotten. I am pretty good at grounded settings when I put in the effort. I think I am good at matching character voices—far better than inventing new ones.
And in terms of writing process... I managed to decide somewhere along the way that I like my own writing? Which is very hard, but also once you do that, it's a lot easier to just write instead of being hung up on quality, and it's then easier to notice when you're falling out of your own voice or when you actually need to rewrite a scene. I think I forced myself into this practice because I am soooo bad at sitting down and editing, so I have to do it as I write, and I had to get over the "this writing sounds like me therefore it is bad" feeling to manage that. (This has been my "love yourself as a writer" high horse.)
16) What are your writing weaknesses?
I think I overexplain. And on the other side, I lean so heavily into showing emotion via physical sensation that I forget to actually write the emotion.
And on a similar process high horse, I am so bad about feeling constantly like I need to write everything right now. This is primarily a problem because if I get too in my head about it, I end up writing none of it. I have not found a way to combat this, except to put one sentence in front of the other. (This is not helped by my ever-increasing pile of wips and ideas lol.)
17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I patently refuse to do it, because I hate the idea of butchering a language I don't know, and because I tend to try to draw as little attention to the fact that a thing is written as possible, and if a language has to be translated via a glossary or something, it's drawing more attention to that, and even if it's something I'm leaving untranslated, someone who speaks that language will know that I have butchered it. That being said, I don't dislike it when I'm reading!
18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson! I wrote so much PJO fic in middle school.
19) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
what luminous worlds await, if only for the sheer enormity of that project and my delight that it actually came together. Though I cannot mention that without mentioning Icarus to your certainty, without which I probably would not have even written the former.
Tagging (and please feel free to ignore if you so choose) @the-littlest-goblin @mithrilwren @sky-scribbles!

Percy Jackson & The Avengers: Convergence - they steal an old pirate ship
I'm alive!! I'm so sorry for just ditching you guys, but I was in Shasta for a week and didn't have any internet access so I wasn't even able to say that I was gonna not update. But I hope this nice, semi-long chapter makes up for it!  Reminder that this is also available on FF, Inkitt, Ao3, Webnovel, and Wattpad
On a completely different note, I'm going to be starting to write a book. Like, a real published book. It'll take a few years but I'm determined and I love the idea I thought of so if any of you are interested, email me at [email protected] and I might be willing to send some samples. I want input, badly. And all the people in my life are biased. Total strangers on the internet are totally made for this, right?
I recently got into readers marauder era fanfics and I'm already in too deep, gays (and yes I meant to say gay, we all know it if you're reading pjo fanfiction). There is no escape.
Anyway, I'm running out of prewritten chapters, so I have to get to writing that while preparing to write a book. Wish me luck! Happy pride month! 🏳️‍🌈✨

"Run it by me again. Just one more time," Steve asked, still highly confused.
They had made it to Florida and were now at a private dock. Percy had just briefly explained his control over any water vehicle and the Captain was not getting the point. It was understandable. Percy still barely got it.
However, they didn't have a whole lot of time, and every second they wasted discussing Percy's weird powers was another second Annabeth's captors had to hurt her. They did not have time for this.
"We are going to steal a boat, and I'm going to sail us the rest of the way," Percy sighed.
"Ok, but, how are we going to sail it if only you know how to do it?" Steve asked.
Even Piper was getting frustrated now. "He can control the boat! We won't have to do anything! The boat will listen to his will! Oh my gods!"
"But how is that possible!?" Steve shouted.
"How would I know?! I was just born with the freaky powers!" Percy yelled right back, getting fed up with this never-ending conversation.
Jason decided to cut in before things got too out of hand. They had to save Annabeth.
"Guys! This doesn't matter! What matters is that we save Annabeth, and we can't do that if we're stuck here arguing over something that is out of our control," he said.
Percy huffed. "He started it."
Hazel rolled her eyes. "How does Annabeth put up with you?"
"Honestly? No idea," Percy smirked.
"Let's just get going, team. We have a boat to steal, right?" Tony asked.
"Yep. And I think this place has the perfect one for the job." The son of Poseidon then started walking away, apparently following his weird sailing powers.
I guess we're supposed to follow him, thought Piper.
Ω ♆ Ω
"This is supposed to take us through the most cursed waters on the planet?" Bruce asked, looking the boat up and down.
"Yes. Isn't it beautiful?" Percy said and smiled, running his hand along the side.
Tony leaned over to Frank. "Is he seeing the same boat we are?"
Frank just shrugged, used to Percy's weirdness by now. Honestly, it was a little hard for him to imagine the team taking what was in front of them to Polyphemus' island. It seemed like it wouldn't survive the normal ocean.
To be clear, what Percy was suggesting they take was an old pirate ship, currently on display inside of a warehouse at the dock. It was covered in dried-up barnacles, and the mast was split in half. There were also holes all along the sides. It was a miracle the thing hadn't crumbled already.
"Yes, Tony, I am. This thing will run for me. It doesn't even need to be repaired, I can handle that. The only thing that matters is that it is built to withstand the type of waters we're going out in," Percy said. "We need all the advantages we can get."
Natasha, to everyone's surprise, spoke up, "I think we should trust Percy. If he says it'll work, then it'll work. He's the son of Poseidon, right? Nothing can hurt us while in the ocean. Am I correct, Percy?"
Jason cleared his throat and gave Percy a significant look. The Avengers needed to know that they were basically powerless in the triangle. The older teen looked ready to explain, but Frank spoke before he had the chance.
"Actually, no. The Sea of Monsters is outside of Poseidon's realm of power, hence the name. Percy won't have the same access to his father's domain as he does out here," he said, "So, basically, we're entering a dangerous situation, with no backup, and an inexperienced team. Should be fun, right?"
The Avengers were shocked, to say the least. Not at what the boy had said, but who had said it. As far as they had seen, Frank wasn't as confident as his physical form portrayed. They were wrong. Frank was confident, and his friends were proud of him for it, too. It had been a large transformation from when Percy had first met the son of Mars.
"Well, I think we should start heading out. We want to get as far as possible before the sun goes down, right?" Piper asked.
"Right," Percy nodded.
She wasn't really certain about all of this sailing stuff. Sure, she had been on the Argo II, but that was different than an actual boat. For one, it could fly and was controlled by a gaming console. She hadn't really bothered learning how to actually run a ship for that.
But now, she had to act like she knew what she was doing, and that was scary. The Avengers may put on a confident front, but she saw the insecurities in all of them. Some were harder to find than others, but finding insecurities was her specialty.
They really were going into a completely unknown situation. At least Piper and the Seven had been in this world for a little while, but the Avengers hadn't even encountered a monster before. It would sure be a shock when they were faced with some of the worst ones for their first fights. So, she and the rest of the demigods had a responsibility to be the examples, no matter how much the "adults" liked to point out that it was "ethically wrong" for them to do that.
Ω ♆ Ω
Turns out, the kid hadn't been lying about being able to sail the ship. Tony would be the first to admit that he was skeptical of the structure of the vessel, but he was proved wrong when, after the group had gotten the thing into the water, it had started to magically prepare itself for departure. Not a single drop of water leaked into the interior; it was like the water simply moved around the holes.
It was spectacular!
Before he knew it, the group had settled into the boat and were moving away from the dock. The Avengers were marveling at everything around them, considering that Percy wasn't even steering the thing, and yet it was supposedly moving in the right direction. To add to the shock, the ship's parts were moving themselves. It was not logically possible, and yet there Tony was, watching it unfold like some kind of acid trip.
"This is...amazing," he muttered, leaning against the rail with Leo, who he had taken a certain liking to. They were a lot alike.
The son of Hephaestus grinned, "Right? I told you guys Percy had cool powers. You should see him with Blackjack or Arion. It's wacky, man!"
"Who's Blackjack and Arion?" Tony asked, noting the new names.
"Oh. Right, I forgot. Blackjack is Percy's pegasus, and Arion is Hazel's horse. Percy can talk to them because his father created horses," Leo answered.
And just when the man of iron was getting used to all of this, he was pulled back into astonishment.
Ω ♆ Ω
After a couple hours of mingling and exploring, Percy called the team up to the deck. He had started to feel it a while ago when he knew it was still a distance away, but now he knew that they were approaching the Sea of Monsters.
It was a blank spot for him. Everywhere else, he could feel the ocean's power thrumming, waiting for him to control it. But here, there was nothing. Considering they were in the middle of the ocean, it was pretty obvious what it was. That was how he had tracked the place down without a map. It was his blind spot. He would just follow the blankness like it was the North Star.
Once everyone had gathered, he told them the news, and to say the atmosphere changed was an understatement. What smiles they had had disappeared, and their expressions turned serious.
"It's time, guys. Get ready. The first thing we're going to come up on is Scylla and Charybdis. We have to go through them to get into the sea. Now, I've planned this so that we should hopefully be able to pass through without any problems, but with six demigods' luck, we shouldn't rely on that too much. Charybdis only feeds three times a day, so if I planned this right, we should be able to pass over her without a fuss. Everyone got it? Be prepared for a fight, but don't expect it, please. We don't need any more reasons for the Fates to curse us."
Hazel stepped up, "Should the Avengers help us if we end up fighting something? Or should they just observe how we deal with monsters first?"
"We can handle ourselves," Steve defended.
Jason sighed, fed up with the same old arguments, "Alright, that's it! The Avengers will let us take the lead in any fights we may or may not end up in. They will not do anything without one of our approvals because we have actual experience with these beings. They will not be put on the sidelines, but they will also not be on the front lines. Does that work for everyone?"
Percy sent a thankful grin to his cousin, "Thank you, Jason. And yes, it does."
Jason just nodded in return.
"Alright, gang! Buckle up! Make sure to keep your hands and feet inside the ship at all times, and remember, the sword points away from you. It's showtime!" Leo cackled.
Just as he finished, they entered a wall of mist, which was unsettling to say the least. The temperature dropped almost three degrees as they passed through it.
Percy pulled out Riptide before steering the ship towards Charybdis. Hopefully, if everything went to plan, they would be out of this Hades-forsaken place by sunrise.
But, of course, nothing ever went to plan on a demigod's quest.
Ω ♆ Ω
Maybe it wasn't the best idea for me to come, was Bruce's first thought as he got his first glimpse at a greek monster. He had taken refuge inside the sleeping quarters of the ship, practicing his breathing exercises. He was really hoping this didn't turn into a Code Green. This was definitely not the place to let the Hulk loose.
So far, it had been silent upstairs, so Bruce concluded that it was going good so far. He had researched the Greek and Roman myths before they had left and on the plane, and everything that he could find on Charybdis was not reassuring. It was true what Percy said, that she only ate three times a day, but nobody really knew when those times were. Until Percy, apparently. He had survived the Sea of Monsters, so everyone on this ship had to trust his judgement in everything they did here. Bruce could tell that the other Avengers were struggling with taking orders from a "child." But Bruce had learned to not underestimate anyone on his travels while in hiding. Plus, look up any demigod's name and there was a whole list of accomplishments to find.
If Percy said that he knew when the monster liked to eat, then he knew when the monster liked to eat. It was as simple as that.
So, ten minutes into their first obstacle, and things were going fine. Everyone was eerily quiet, but no sign of Charybdis or Scylla yet. Of course, as soon as someone thought about it, an outline of a serpent appeared in the fog surrounding the boat.
Frank was the first one to spot it. "Guys..." He looked up at Percy. "We have a problem."
He pointed into the fog and Percy cursed. "Oh schist. I knew she couldn't just leave us alone."
The Avengers had figured out that something was coming and were unsure what to do. The demigods seemed to be just waiting like sitting ducks for the thing to attack them, and that was not a good plan. The Avengers don't wait for their opponent to strike first.
"Alright, that's it. I'm going to see what it is," Tony mumbled, activating his Iron Man armor.
"No, Tony! That's not a good-" Piper got cut off as the billionaire flew off, "...idea."
If she couldn't yell at that idiot, she was gonna yell at his teammates. She turned around, prepared to cuss out some idiot "superheroes," but Hazel beat her to it. "What was he thinking?! Why didn't you idiots stop him?! He has no idea what he's getting himself into! That monster is NOT something you guys can handle without our help! Mortalium tam stultus!"*
Natasha appraised the small demigod. She sure was a young spitfire. And from what she had seen already, a powerful one.
"Ok, let's just calm down, alright? Tony should be able to hold his own until we can go save his stupid ass," Leo sighed. Working with mortals was draining.
They were always so brash about things. And yes, coming from a greek, that statement was pretty hypocritical, but it still wasn't a lie. He idolized Mr. Stark's work, but man if only the guy could learn some restraint and he would be perfect.
Just as Leo had spoken, an explosion was heard, followed by a muffled string of curses. Only Tony Stark could come up with those creative swear words, so at least there was proof that the guy was still alive. For now, at least. The group needed to get that soon.
"Alright, hold on! This is gonna get bumpy!" Percy shouted, steering the ship towards the sound of fighting.
He willed the vessel to move faster, and it, of course, obeyed. In his head, Percy was just thinking rush rush rush. They needed to get this fight out of the way and get to Annabeth right after. Percy was praying to any god that would listen for there to not be any more disruptions to their journey. He just had to be confident in his skills. He had done this before, so he knew what lay ahead of them.
And it was going to be a challenge.
Ω ♆ Ω
Tony would deny any claim of him being held in the mouth of a sea serpent by his leg. Cuz that didn't happen. Totally.
But if it did, then the rest of the questing group would have worked together to fend off the monster until they could get away. Percy would've used Riptide to stab the monster in the leg, while Jason flew up and used his gladius to cut open her eye. The rest of the group basically just put on a full-frontal assault until Scylla released their idiotic teammate. Leo blew some fire, Hazel manipulated the Mist so that the Avengers could all see it for what it was, Piper made it loosen its grip with her charmspeak, Frank and Clint released some well-placed arrows, Natasha fired some gunshots, and Steve sliced into it with his shield.
All in all, the thing realized quickly that it was outmatched.
Then, after Tony received a very stern reprimanding by Piper and Steve, the group carried on. They didn't have time to dilly-dally. Saving Annabeth was their top priority.
Ω ♆ Ω
Meanwhile...
"Let me go, you skatá!"* Annabeth screamed, kicking her captor in the knees.
She had been knocked out as soon as they had shadow traveled, so she hadn't woken up until an hour ago. When she had, her wrists and ankles had been shackled to a stone wall with imperial gold shackles. The terrorists had stepped up their game.
There was dim lighting, but from what she could figure out before, she was in a cave of some kind. They had completely cleared out the area around her, so there weren't any visible location markers. That is, until they moved her.
The people who had grabbed her were strong and bulky and covered in black. They had black combat suits with black ski masks covering their features. Stereotypically, Annabeth would've figured the goons to be stupid, but they kept her shackles on and put a sack over her head so they at least has someone smart on their team.
Annabeth was getting really sick of not knowing anything, though.
So that's where she found herself at the moment: as a "defenseless" hostage. It was quite comical, really. Did these idiots really think that she would go quiet?
She felt one of her kicks come into contact with a kneecap and heard a satisfying grunt of pain from one of the thugs. Good, she thought, I hope that hurt.
Then, she was thrown onto the cold, stone floor and forced to hold her head up. The whole situation was so stereotypical that she wanted to laugh. But then she also didn't want to come off as more psycho than her captors, so she kept it to herself.
"This is quite interesting," a voice said, "The prideful daughter of Athena, reduced to a simple mortal's hostage.
The sack on her head was yanked off, so Annabeth spat down at the man's feet, glaring at him with a burning hatred. Taking a quick survey of the room, Annabeth found that she was being held captive on Polyphemus' island. The room was the main room of his cave; the one where she, Percy, and Grover further blinded the cyclops.
"If you had actually gotten me on your own, it might have been impressive, but having to use monsters is just pathetic," she said.
The leader growled and kicked her in the jaw. It didn't have enough power to break it, but it did cause her to bite through her tongue.
Annabeth spit out the blood produced in her mouth, dirtying the man's shiny shoes. The guy would have to do a lot worse than that to scare her.
"Hmm... I like your spirit. It's going to be that much more fun when I break it," he hissed, kneeling down to her eye level.
"I hope you rot in Hades," is all Annabeth responded with.
The guy laughed. ACTUALLY laughed. So, he was a crazy sociopath hades-bent on tearing down the natural order of the universe, Annabeth decided, how nice.
Ω ♆ Ω
I kinda really love this and I hope you did too. Now, to get into some unasked political shit: Love is love. I like all genders, and I still don't want to see any of them practically having sex in front of me. So just, accept yourself and others for who they are and move on. Is that so hard? Happy pride month & happy Father's Day!!

Bonus scene!
The group was spending time in the dining room of the ship when all of a sudden, Percy remembered something truly horrifying. Like, beyond disgusting!
“Oh, my gods! Guys!!!” he exclaimed.
Hazel rolled her eyes and said, “What, Percy?”
“Charybdis is my half-sister! Ew ew ew ew ew EW EW EW EW!!!” Percy shouted his answer.
Everyone simultaneously gagged.
(Inside, Steve was starting to get seriously concerned about these kids’ chaotic family.)

WHERE did you learn so many languages?? do you have any tips?
well I’m brazilian so portuguese is my first language and french and spanish are also latin based languages so they came pretty easily for me. english was a lengthier process but long story short 99% of the media I liked to consume since I was a little kid (pjo for one) was originally in english so since I was constantly listening to it and reading it even when I didn’t understand I eventually learned by osmosis if you will lmao I don’t actually know like. proper english I just wing it I have never once sat through an entire english lesson yet I graduated with a perfect grade in english in hs because apparently I know things even when I don’t LMAO russian is weird because my brother used to play online games with a group of russian boys he met on a gta forum and they, being russian, spoke very little english while my brother, being brazilian, also spoke very little english and all I know is after six months they spoke a little portuguese and my brother spoke a little russian so, again, I kinda learned by osmosis. I thought it was very little but then last year I watched a russian show on netflix and realized I was fine without subs which is 👀 cool. similarly my parents have one close family friend who is a german immigrant so I grew up listening to them so I kinda understand but like. v precariously lol japanese is really the only language I decided I wanted to sit down and actually properly learn because I wanna move to Japan eventually so I was like I gotta be proper about this!!! but it’s been the hardest out of all of them?? I understand it well enough but my issue is with learning an entire new alphabet, my brain is like no ❤️ and I’m also currently studying to get into college so I haven’t had much time to dedicate to japanese exclusively bonk :(
as u can tell I have no method whatsoever other than immersing myself in the language and winging it. I did it with english and it worked so I was like K this is it I guess LOL I have adhd so it’s really hard for me to sit through entire lessons of any subject tbh but especially the boring parts like the building blocks of language always sound too simple to my ears (even when I don’t know them!!!) so instead of learning these via lessons I kinda get a feel of the language first and then go back to learn grammar n shit. I am very privileged though in the sense that my mother speaks all the languages I know except japanese so I’ve always had someone to mimic and practice with and also that language related things in general just simply make a lot of sense in my head. it’s always been a very intuitive process to me which is why it’s hard to describe. my one tip is to just immerse yourself in the language as much as possible: read your favorite books in the target language, read news in it, watch subtitled films/look up song translations and read the translation as they’re playing etc. Not only do I find that much less boring but also it seems to work quicker and it’s an excuse for you to just watch a tv show or listen to some music for a while and chill and still be doing something
I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful 😭 it’s a mess my brain is a jumble of all these languages it’s v weird to try to explain

Hermione for the character ask! 🧙‍♀️
Hi!! Tysm for the ask :)))
Hermione Granger, aka my idol in my teen years.
Favorite thing about Hermione
So, a generic response would be something like "oh her strength" or "oh her brains" and while those things are really great parts about her, the thing that I like most about Hermione is that she's not afraid to stand up for herself when she faced bigotry. If I remember correctly, she had always stood up for herself and never took anyone's crap -- in the same vein, she always called everyone out. I feel like this is a really important and amazing part of her character because it's really hard to always be ready to confront others and stand up for yourself, she makes a really good role model.
Least Favorite thing about Hermione
Oh see, I have two right off the bat answers to that - what least favorite thing? She's great? (Keep in mind I did read the series when I was quite young, everything is put through rose-colored glasses, so to speak). My second answer was her relationship with Ron or in general, the way it developed. From the way I remember it, Ron constantly made fun of Hermione on multiple occasions, this going to a point where Harry was exasperated in having to deal with their drama, and then in the Half-Blood Prince, it turns out she actually has a crush on him? I don't understand it. And honestly, I don't like it.
Favorite Line/Quote
So this took quite a bit of sleuthing but I remembered the general gist of the quote I wanted to use.
“Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have!”
Or something along the lines of this.
Obviously, Hermione's had many more impactful and meaningful lines that I could've chosen - why did I choose this one?
It's just so funny. And like extra points to a person who could slip this quote into a bit of conversation.
BrOTP
I actually don't have a brOTP for Hermione - I love her friendship with the Golden Trio but it just doesn't hit the bar for me: some really good brOTP's I have are Matteo and Gaston, Percy and Grover, Jason and Nico, Meredith and Christina (Soy Luna, PJO, HoO and Grey's Anatomy, for those confused with the refs). If I did have to pick a friendship of Hermione's I liked and wished was explored more it would be Hermione and Luna, Hermione and Ginny, or Hermione and Neville.
OTP
Again, for Hermione, none of her major love interests really stick out to me, but if I did have to choose - Harry.
This, I've learned, is quite an unpopular opinion, so let me explain.
Even as children, Harry respected and thought of Hermione as his equal and friend, and often came to her for advice. He respected her knowledge whereas Ron (I'm not currently counting Krum as a contender, sorry) ridiculed her in the beginning.
But okay, going on - I just loved reading their friendship scenes, and when I watched the movies, again, loved the scenes.
and going on, I feel like (this is movie-specific) that there was always more chemistry with Harry and Hermione, rather than Ron, and again (move specific) the tent dancing scene was so adorable.
nOTP
Dramione.
So this is another two-pronged response.
Draco Malfoy is a horrible person. In the books, he called Hermione slurs, bullied her numerously, and was just horrific to a lot of people. To want Hermione to be with him, with all of this in mind is really hard for me to fathom.
Now for the second prong of the response.
Dramione could've worked, in another world in which the HP books went a different route. If Draco had gone the same way as Sirius Black did - realizing that his family's values were not his, and running away, Dramione would've worked. In this universe, we could've acknowledged Draco's home life and family life, watched him unlearn the bigotry ingrained into his life, and start a friendship with Harry and Hermione. This way, Dramione would've been a good contender for one of my OTP's. Alas, this is not the case, and Draco's storyline went a much different route.
Random Headcanon
Hermione really likes Gilmore Girls & Autumn.
I can't explain why but it just feels right to me.
Unpopular Opinion
See above: I don't like Romione
A song I Associate with Them
Behind these Hazel Eyes - Kelly Clarkson
So, if you've never heard this song before, please go listen to it!!!!
I think this really fits Hermione because she has to always be strong but she is also vulnerable - it also fits her anger that I think she would have.
Also, There Are Worse Things I Could Do - Grease.
I just think it really fits.
Favorite Picture
I don't want to repost any fanart, so I am going to put in a picture from the movie that I really like.
Tumblr media
I feel like this is self-explanatory as to why this pic is superior.
*this got so long sorry!!!*

fic tag meme
I guess I was kind of inadvertently tagged by @wildehacked because they said to do it if you wanted to, and well, I was bored and needed something to do while watching Watcher Weekly+ so!
Name: Heather! Otherwise known as callunavulgari on all platforms. Except fanfiction.net. I have not gone back there to even consider changing it.
Fandoms: I am currently only actively writing fic for Buzzfeed Unsolved and The Adventure Zone (because I have no self control and finished the finale today). That said, I’m pretty actively involved in The Untamed, Buzzfeed Unsolved, The Magnus Archives, Hades, and Persona 5. But I also delve back into old fandoms constantly, so it’s really hard to say. Tropes: Enemies to lovers is my absolute favorite trope in the entire world. In fact, I think the only thing I like MORE than your garden variety enemies to lovers is FRIENDS to enemies to lovers. Because like, you’ve got the UST but you’ve also got ANGST and YEARNING. I’m just weak to it.
I also really like fusion AUs, soulmate AUs, and canon-adjacent AUs where everything is the same except one or both parties is some kind of monster. Creature? I love myself a creature feature. Bonus points if it’s got political intrigue and killer world building. I’m sure there are others, but eh.
Fic I spent most time on: Probably either Rubatosis or when the wild grasses weave.
Rubatosis was a Percy Jackson fic where Percy and Annabeth fall in love with Nico, aka the personification of death. Also, Annabeth is a serial killer. It is single-handedly my favorite thing I’ve ever written and I wrote it in a handful of months for the 2014 PJO Big Bang.
where the wild grasses weave, on the other hand, was a Spirited Away/Kingdom Hearts fic that I wrote for the Kingdom Hearts Big Bang like half a decade ago. It was an idea that I’d been toying with for awhile and the Big Bang gave me an excuse to finally do it. It explores the darker themes of Spirited Away and honestly, I’ve been meaning to go back and tinker with it for awhile because there are definitely parts that could be shaped up better.
Fic I spent least time on: Probably all the really short prompt fics that I’ve posted between now and 2010.
Longest fic: Also when the wild grasses weave, which is almost 43k. And if you know me, that’s a full 30k longer than the usual things I go for.
Shortest fic: nowhere to run is an Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier fanfiction that I wrote about a year after First Class came out in 2012. It is FORTY words and was written for a tumblr three-sentence meme. It was definitely only three sentences, but somehow managed to get 25 kudos and 5 comments anyway.
Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks: Top kudos/bookmarks/hits: i don't believe in fairy tales (but i believe in you and me), which was written on September 5th 2014 and is just over 3k of Derek accidentally getting a glimpse of Stiles’ penis. On his phone. It is the dick pic fic and it has 5239 kudos, 712 bookmarks, and 81,838 hits. I feel like the fact that this is my most popular fic should be upsetting since it took me like an hour to write. Top comments: Que Sera, Sera, which was written on June 14th 2014 and is almost 4k. It’s the second part of my Teen Wolf/Addams Family fusion and has 146 comments (most of which are people and not me, because I don’t typically respond to comments, which is a horrible failing on my part).  Favorite fic you’ve written: I actually have an Author's Favorites list on ao3, which needs pared down horribly because it’s got a bunch of really old fic that has not aged particularly well. Rubatosis is probably my favorite? Again, it’s definitely the one I’m proudest of.  wake up in a city that never sleeps was another PJO ot3 fic that I wrote where Percy is Nico’s TA and is also pretty up there. I do genuinely love the Teen Wolf/Addams fusion.  take me to church is one of my favorite Teen Wolf fics, mostly because it’s the soft epilogue that I wanted out of the show.
and i'm always tired, but never of you is a Bright Sessions ot3 fic where Sam and Mark cross paths with Damien years later and I’m really attached to that one. I don’t know. I go back and read these things sometimes and I remember that my writing isn’t like pulling nails all the time. That sometimes it’s really very good.
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: A couple of the older Big Bang fics I would love to go back and rewrite just because when rereading I can tell where I was running out of time or where something should have been cut but wasn’t so I could pad the wordcount. I do eventually want to write at least one more part of the Teen Wolf/Addams series. And I kind of want to write a coda for that Bright Sessions ot3 that I mentioned.
Share a bit of a WIP:
Part of the Buzzfeed Unsolved tattoo AU that I’ve been working on since uh, Christmas. Whoops.
He’s getting ready to text the guy back to let him know that he’ll have to book another appointment when the bell sounds from the front of the door and someone spills through the doorway.
And look, Ryan had gone into this appointment with expectations. Four weeks ago, when the guy had first emailed inquiring about booking an appointment, Ryan had asked him what exactly he was looking for. He’d asked the usual questions, all pretty standard. Style, colors, if he had a preference when it came to the artist, if he had a hard limit on price.
An hour later, Ryan found himself typing the sentence, ‘so when you say puppet…’
Ryan doesn’t really know what he’d expected. He’d done a couple marionettes. Faceless pinnochios. Skeletons dangling from razor wire. A character from Coraline. It was very ain’t no strings on me, complete with shadowy hands puppeting the faceless silhouettes. Creepy, but you know. Kind of cool.
Precisely ten minutes after he hit send, the guy had ruined all of his expectations by typing back, ‘No, man. Like a muppet.’
He’d even included an attachment. So naturally, Ryan clicked on it.
The creature that looked back at him was monstrous, like a cross between Elmo and the Cookie Monster, its empty eyes dead and staring. It was wearing an outfit that made Ryan think of Indiana Jones, complete with a tiny hat and a miniature fanny pack. On anything else, the little outfit might be cute.
As Ryan was pondering how to politely pass the job off to Mari, another email came through. This one, thankfully, did not include another attachment. The body of the email was blank. The subject line read simply: ‘He’s called The Professor.’

Thank you to the lovely @wyvernquill who tagged me in this ask game! Sorry it’s a few days late.
Rules: Answer 17 Questions & tag 17 people you want to get to know better (not sure if I can think of 17 but I’ll do my best).
Nickname: Lau to most of my friends, L.J. to some, my mom calls me precious, ‘prec’ for short. My brother calls me sis and every insult under the sun
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio which explains... so much. @wyvernquill put a great Good Omens reference here but I’m not that funny so I’ll just direct you to their answer instead
Height: Between 5′5″ and 5′6″. Let’s go with 5′6″ just ‘cause.
Hogwarts house: Ravenclaw though the first three times I took the Pottermore quiz I got every house equally so... I kind of just shrug and accept Ravenclaw because my friends tell me that’s the best fit
Last thing I googled: the price of bookshelves from stores all over town, because I just moved back home and i have way too many books for my shelves. Honestly though I think I’ll just make another one
Song stuck in my head: I’m currently listening to the Hamilton soundtrack so I don’t have anything in my head rn, but this morning I woke up with Jekyll and Hyde by Bishop Briggs stuck in my head
Following and followers: following 442, followed by 371. Yikes I should probably go through who I’m following and shorten that down a bit. Thank you to the lovelies who follow me though :) I promise I am still working on fics, it’s just that they’re huge monsters in various fandoms
Amount I sleep: if I don’t get at least 7 hours then I will take the next two days- a week to recover. I never nap but I sleep really deeply in the night
Lucky number(s): I don’t think I have any? I used to think 3 but April 3rd was the worst day I’ve had in ages so I’ve abandoned that theory. 42 is a great number though, as it is the answer to life and all
Dream job: right now I’m on track to be a highschool teacher which I’m really looking forward to, but deep down I’ve always wanted to be an actress or writer of some kind. I think novelist or screen writer would be very, very cool
Wearing: leggings and a soft, comfy t-shirt with a cardigan because my room is chilly
Favourite song(s): Please, please do not ask me this. I have a favourite movie. I have a favourite book series. But I cannot pick just one song? Right now I’m obsessed with Low by Grayson Chance but last week I was listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks on repeat. It varies a lot. Favourite artist is probably Taylor Swift though
Random fact: Did you know that like a day or two before the Titanic sank the crew was supposed to have a lifeboat safety drill but then Captain Smith canceled it at the last minute for mysterious unknown reasons? So part of why when they hit the iceberg the crew was so disorganized and made so many mistakes is because the captain literally just... didn’t prepare them.
The way that every single detail lined up so perfectly for the Titanic to sink just... it gets me. If even one thing had been different it could have been avoided, or at least less catastrophic, but the individual choices and circumstances all combined to cause one of the biggest examples of human hubris in history and I just think that’s fascinating.
Favourite Authors: I mean I have to put Rick Riordan because the PJO series is a masterpiece and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. Also he is working to include a lot of representation and expand his characters and I appreciate that. But I also really vibe with Madeline Miller’s writing style, and Cassandra Clare is the best romance writer I’ve ever read.
Favourite Animal Noises: birds chirping. If I had to go the rest of my life without hearing birds I would be very disappointed. But I also think there’s something super satisfying about hearing an elephant trumpet
Aesthetic: Tired college student? Bookworm? Basic white girl? They all fit but if I had to pick a character that I relate to I would say Bilbo Baggins (mostly before the quest to Erebor, but I like to think a bit after too)
Okay that’s it I guess! This was super fun, now I just need to tag 17 other people!
@yourstrulytaaay @toast-ish, @innalheid, @marcythevampqueen, @supremequeenofthenerds, @thebeautifulgeneral, @lecter-graham, @hypotheticalboner, @ladylaufeyson1, @g-a-l-a-x-y-cats, @trashmel, and @codelulu
Hmm I can only think of 10 so hopefully that’s good enough? Don’t do it if you don’t want to, or if you have already I’m sorry to tag you again! I’m excited to see your answers!
Thanks again to Wy for tagging me, it was great!

So, @kimmycup tagged me in this game. Let’s do this. Alternately titled:
Let me rant about the difference in receiving feedback on FFN vs AO3
Because I am really getting lost in the math behind “most popular” fic. And it’s most definitely more than just “reaching a different audience” when the feedback for one and the same fic differs between over 1k comments on one site vs not even reaching 100 comments on another site.
Author Name: Takara_Phoenix
Fandoms You Write For: Okay so let‘s only involve the ones I am still actively involved with, not the ones that are like... eight years old and I haven’t thought of them once, yeah? That’d be: Percy Jackson, Shadowhunters, Marvel, Rise of the Guardians/How to Train Your Dragon, Detective Conan/Magic Kaito, Vampire Academy, Jungle Book, DC Comics/the Arrowverse, Descendants
Where You Post: AO3 and FFN, but occasionally also on tumblr - when it’s prompts or drabbles
Most Popular One-Shot: Depends on where you ask. And what you define as popular. Personally, the only value I see are in comments - kudos are literally just the press of one button, they mean nothing, and hits aren’t an indicator of much either considering it counts as a hit even when you opt out after a paragraph.
I’ve only had my AO3 for five years now, meaning that the fics on FFN still had four more years to simmer on there and gather attention, I suppose. Meaning, a fic posted for the first time obviously gets more attention than a four years later mass repost on another site.
On AO3, the oneshit with most comment threads would be How to Court the Prettiest Omega Ever in Five Years or Less, my first PJO ABOverse fic, featuring Nicercy. Which, you know, is only 37 comments on there. Seriously I genuinely blame the existence of the kudo function for the overall lackluster comment-response on AO3 because “press one button vs actually writing words”... but that’s a different conversation to be had. (I mean, seriously, in comparison, this fic has 51 comments on FFN... and it is by far not the one with most comments I have over there).
The clear winner if you look at FFN is Something Went Wrong, my first Minotaur/Percy smut fest with a whooping 116 comments. And yes. Positive. Genuinely did not expect that when after weeks of debating, I decided to post this story. *chuckles* (Again, for comparison, this fic got a total of 8 comments on AO3... eight... the difference there is staggering... Which, I’d like to tag on that, on top of the kudo-nonsense, the fact that AO3 displays total amount of comments to the readers and not comment threads is also misleading and I don’t think it helps, because I think you’re more inclined if you see it’s only 8 comment-threads in total on a fic you like vs it showing you 16 comments as the total comment-count.)
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: THIS IS TOO HARD TO ANSWER. I’d have to consult my chart, but that hasn’t been updated in ages. Because overall amount of comments means little if you don’t also take into account the amount of chapters - 50 comments on a oneshot are a lot, 50 comments on a 5 chapter fic, not so much, and 50 comments on a 50 chapter is frustrating to receive.
Okay, let me go full nerd on this one. Y’all know I love charts. There was a time where I was interested enough in finding this out that I had a chart going of all my multiple chapter fics. With a collumn on how many chapters the story had at that point in time, how many total comments on AO3, how many total comments on FFN and what, by combining those two numbers and dividing them through the chapter-count, was the average amount of comments per chapter.
However, that chart had last been updated on December 31st 2016. There’s been a lot of influx, lot of new stories and other stories gaining/losing popularity, so when I now say Meet the di Angelos with a 2016 average of 57,25 comments/chapter, that is completely exclusing ten fics I wrote since then.
Damn now I really wanna update the charts...
Also if you can’t tell by now how much actual feedback and comments mean to me, I genuinely don’t know how else to convey it... xD”
If you go by total comment-count - which, again, is misleading because you gotta keep the chapter-count in mind - it’d be Chasing Fireflies on FFN with 1749 comments (on 102 chapters. And, again, for comparison, 88 comment-threads on AO3. 88 vs 1749 is insane) and Percy and the Ghost King of Summers High on AO3 with 749 comments (on 50 chapters. On FFN that’s actually on 990 comments. Far smaller difference here compared to other stories).
Though I dunno, if you measure popular by fanart received, Summers High comes in with five, while my Chasingverse is in with 6... and multiple fanfictions written for it.
Favorite Story You Wrote: Favorite to write, or favorite to reread? There’s a difference there. I’m insanely proud of Chasing Fireflies and the plot and world I created there, the character development. I... don’t really reread it it’s over 500k long I don’t have that time.
Currently, I am really loving The Primal Instinct, it is sooo much fun to write, I get to put basically all my favorite headcanons in there, I’ll get to write Aline and Helen more and Jace’s interactions with others, it features both my favorite OT3s at once. (And it is faaar from my most popular one. Just, feel like mentioning this because my numbers-obsession may read as only writing for comments, which I don’t, I mainly write for myself. The comments are just... very, very nice treats to receive. Also, I love numbers and charts and were curious to see if there is a kind of trend there in what does receive most attention sooo...)
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Uuuh every new thing. Every time I step outta my comfort zone. Trying out a new pairing for the first time. Venturing into a new fandom for the first time. Experimenting with a new kink and wondering if this would be too much. Literally every single time, still.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: On a whim. I suck at titles. Mostly I try to force alliterations because I am a sucker for alliterations, but otherwise I do try to go with “as it says on the tin”, or I try a pun/being clever. Aside from my Triton/Percy fics. Every single fic I’ve written for them is named after a song from Disney’s The Little Mermaid franchise and I have yet to run out of songtitles to use for fics and hey, by then they’ll probably have included a new song in the live-action remake so there’s that! :D
Do You Outline: Depends. Oneshots? No. I just write those. Multiple-chapter fics? ...Depends. xD
If I have a clear vision for where it’s going to go, I do tend to divide into chapters and make myself small notes on what goes into said chapters. Mostly, it’s just a rambled “and x happens and then y” at the end though and then I see how I can make it fit into chapters.
Complete: 795 stories on AO3! Damn, I’ve been busy.
In-Progress: As of right now, 4. Because this week features my Ace Awareness 7-parter, though technically we’re right now down to 3 multi-chapter fics because the next one is only due to be released and join the rotation!
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: Well, that is two entirely different things now.
Coming Soon:
Shadowhunters, Asmodeus/Jace, “The Royal Consort of Edom” oneshot on the 23rd
Shadowhunters, Magnus/Alec/Jace, “Nesting 101″ oneshot on my birthday this Saturday
Percy Jackson, Nico/Percy, “Something Borrowed, Something Green” oneshot on the 30th
Shadowhunters, Magnus/Jace, “Dancing with the Monsters in the Night” an out-side-of-schedule oneshot for Halloween
And I do think that that is what constitutes “soon”.
Not Yet Started:
HTTYD/RotG, Hiccup/Jack, “The Origin of the Blue Hoodie”, planned for November 27th
Shadowhunters, Magnus/Jace, “Set-Up by the Guard-Cats”, planned for December 4th
Descendants/PJO, Nico/Percy, Ben/Carlos, Uma/Audrey, “Demigod Defenders of Auradon”, planned for December 11th
A-and that is as far as I have planned my schedule ahead. Those three are the only fics on my personal schedule that I haven’t started working on yet. I don’t like to plan ahead too much, because then you just completely lose interest in the story by the time you get around to actually writing it.
Do You Accept Prompts: Prompts, not so much. Requests, yeah. For one, prompts always seem so demanding, while requests are more polite - and also more structured. Prompts are always like “here have one quick trope thrown at your head” and like... I do have a well-enough planned-out schedule with more than enough fics of my own set, I don’t need to try and turn one random prompt into an actual story. But if someone has a specific request, a pairing and an actual plot, that they really wanna see, I do always hear them out, I may not always like the pitch and thus not accept them all, but on the overall I do accept requests.
More inclined to accept birthday requests than random requests, because random requests would be put into the rotation of my schedule and, well come on that shouldn’t be a surprise, they tend to be pushed off then in favor of fic ideas I came up with myself because there’s nearly always more enthusiasm about writing an idea that you came up with yourself than the idea of someone else. Whereas birthday requests have a set date that doesn’t disturb my schedule and I am a big softie who has a weakness for getting gifts myself so I do like to do something nice for someone so they get something special for their birthday.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Most excited to write? Well, that’d be the Descendant/PJO crossover atm, because that is something very new and shiny and I do love shiny, new things to experiment on. But also The Prince of Pluto, my next multiple-chapter fic that I have already started writing.
Tagging: Whoever wants to do it! <3

The Privilla: Chapter 3
PJO Arranged Marriage/Royalty AU Part 2
Rating: G | Pairing: Solangelo
Prev | Next | AU directory | Read it on AO3 (Recommended) | Arranged Marriage AU Masterpage
Summary: Almost ten years after their first introduction, Will and Prince Nico meet again. But this time, they are no longer children. Will, the illegitimate third son of Duke Apollo, has had a few prospective suitors, but none of the offers have been as lucrative as his family has hoped. Prince Nico has had his fair share of suitors, as well; with the pressure of being heir to the throne of a kingdom in economic turmoil, Nico is expected to marry for profit and security. However, his icy personality has driven many impatient suitors away. The two young men may prove to be exactly what the other needs.
“I do not believe this one will be as terrible as you fear,” Reyna said from the other side of the privacy screen.  “Her Divinity arranged it.  She would not send you an unlikable suitor.”
That is because I am the unlikable one, Nico thought as he raised his chin so that his manservant, Jules-Albert, could tie his jabot.
Nico had agreed to this meeting despite his reluctance mostly because it was Artemis who had asked.  They’d had their disagreements in the past, but Nico trusted her and had no desire to disappoint her.
“My father has spoken to me of the meeting with your nephew,” Nico recalled saying over a game of Acies before Artemis left Divitia.  “I must ask if you are aware of my current record as a suitor, Your Divinity.  Previous meetings have not gone well and should this meeting go awry....”
Artemis had smiled encouragingly.  “Worry not, Your Highness.  It will not affect our relationship.”
“But you are willing to offer your nephew as a suitor despite my...my....”
“Your Highness, I have known you since you wore children’s gowns.  You and my nephew are both fine young men.  If the meeting does not go as hoped, you will part amicably.  I have faith in you, Your Highness.”
Nico had not felt reassured.  “I do not want you to hope too much, Your Divinity.  I would hate to disappoint you.  If your nephew were to be unhappy with me–”
“Nico,” Artemis had said plainly, disposing of the pleasantries.  Nico was alarmed by the sudden change in address, but he did not take offense.  “You will not disappoint me.  You are as dear to me as kin.  My nephew is a patient, kind-hearted man and I believe you will enjoy his friendship, but if I am wrong, then I will leave it be.  In any case, you have already met him.”
“Have I?” Nico had asked with a frown, trying to remember.  “I do not recall.”
“You were but six years of age,” Artemis had answered.  “It was the evening of my inauguration.  I made the introductions and you became friends in an instant.”
Nico had stared at the figurines on the board in thought, but he had been unable to recall.  “I apologize.  I do not remember.”
“That does not matter,” Artemis had said.  “You were friends then and I believe you can be now.”
Nico had avoided Artemis’ eyes.  If he’d met her nephew at the Sororal Inauguration, Bianca would have still been alive.  It had been before he lost her, before those lonely, nightmarish years on the countryside....
“There have been many changes since then,” he’d replied.
“Yes,” Artemis had agreed.  “But, perhaps, not too many.”
Nico shook away his thoughts as Jules-Albert brushed off his coat and breeches.  “He is expected to arrive late this morning, correct?” he asked.
“Yes, Your Highness,” Reyna answered.  “He will be here in time for the mid-day meal.”
“And my father and I will entertain Her Divinity and Lord William outside in the cypress grove?”
“That is correct.  The Queen and the Princess will take their meal in the Queen’s antechamber today to leave the four of you to your discussions.  Following that, you will invite Lord William for a walk in the Queen’s garden.”
Nico sighed and nodded as he stepped out from behind the partition and went to sit on the lounge chair at the foot of his bed.  Jules-Albert offered Nico a pair of shoes, and when Nico nodded his assent, he knelt to put them on Nico’s feet.
“And you will offer him your arm,” Reyna said.  “You will smile at him.  You will be polite.”
Nico squashed his desire to retort and merely nodded.  This time, he would play the role of a good suitor – at least for the Matestra.  Besides, he needed to find a husband, and he hoped that this attempt wouldn’t be as disastrous as the others.  “And then my father and I will remain with them in the Privilla for the three days of their stay?”
“Yes, Your Highness,” Reyna confirmed.
Nico was glad.  The grounds of the royal palace contained many estates like the Privilla built by generations of Pluton sovereign.  Although Nico had stayed in many of them in his childhood, the royal family had mostly remained within the main residence, the Palatium de Divitae, since the Scarlet Delirium and the downfall of Pluto’s once-wealthy economy.  While the Palatium de Divitae and its surrounding estates had once housed many nobles, the fashionable days of the Pluton court had passed and the palace now was home to only the royal family and a select group of courtiers.  Nico barely remembered his once-opulent lifestyle; he had been so young when he’d been sent to live on the countryside during the worst parts of the contagion’s rampage.  Still, he enjoyed the occasional excuses the royal family found to indulge in the lavish pleasantries that used to define the court.
When Jules-Albert finished polishing Nico’s shoes, Nico rose to his feet and nodded to Reyna.  “I assume the estate has been prepared?”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“And the necessary items from my wardrobe?”
“Taken care of, Your Highness.”
“And Asterion?”
“He will be at the Privilla, Your Highness.”
“Good.”  Nico left the bedroom for the drawing room next door.  Hazel’s room also connected to the drawing room, and they had a series of studies that they used for various purposes, like Hazel’s artwork or Nico’s Acies board.  Hazel, upon Nico’s inspection of the chambers, appeared to be in her painting room.  Although they hadn’t always gotten along, Nico was fond of his little sister.  She turned and called out a good morning to him when she heard him leave his bedroom, and Nico greeted her in return.  At only eight years of age, she was already a fine painter.  She had gifted several of her works to Nico and he had them hung in his bedroom or studies.
“Tell me about the Matestra’s nephew again, Lady Reyna,” Nico said as he sat down in the drawing room.
“He is a consor,” Reyna began, taking a seat when Nico gestured for her to do so.  “He has been studying in Venadica since he was Hazel’s age, perhaps younger.  He is your age now, and is the third child of Duke Apollo of Diana – illegitimate.  His mother was a singer and Apollo’s mistress for a time.”
Nico chose not to dwell on the topic of Will’s illegitimacy.  It was not uncommon for nobles in Jupiter or Neptune to have lovers aside from their spouses, but such things were considered unacceptable in Pluto.  The thought made Nico feel uncomfortable, even though Nico was illegitimate himself.  The nature of his birth was very secret; not even Hazel knew, nor had Bianca.  Nico shouldn’t have known.
“Have you met him?” Nico asked.  As a soror, Reyna had been trained in Venadica, as well.
“I have,” Reyna replied.  “Only once or twice and it has been a very long time, but I do recall that he was pleasant company.  In any case, he has studied medicine under Asclepius himself and he practices when he returns to Diana in the winter.  He has had no serious suitors as of yet, but his family has been searching.  And he is extremely wealthy.”
Nico nodded.  A wealthy husband was, in all honesty, exactly what he needed.  He’d even tried courting the son of a wealthy merchant, despite his lack of a title – of course, that arrangement had fallen through quickly.  The boy had been completely unrefined, so Nico sent him on his way.  Nico probably could have done so more politely, but what was done was done.
“What topics of conversation do you recommend?” Nico asked, for conversation was not something he had any remarkable skill in.  He was receiving oratory lessons from Reyna, so he wasn’t as miserable as he once had been, but he still lacked some basic understanding of one-on-one communication.
“You might ask about his family or his studies.  It is most important, Your Highness, that you are responsive when he speaks to you.  You have an unfortunate habit of acting uninterested and indifferent around potential suitors, but in this case, you must remember to be more companionable.”
Nico heard Hazel giggle in her painting room, and, although he was irritated, he ignored her.  “I will behave cordially,” he muttered.  Reyna was not uncomfortable scolding Nico; she could be quite harsh with him.  Still, he considered Reyna trustworthy, and perhaps even a good friend.
Nico spent most of the morning pacing while Hazel painted in her studio and Reyna read in the drawing room.  He picked at the cold cuts Jules-Albert brought for their meal and drank a few sips of tea, but his unease persisted.  He hated being introduced to suitors, mainly because he knew he’d fail before they even arrived.  Nico wasn’t easy to like.  He wasn’t even tolerable enough to be someone’s husband.
“Your Highness,” Reyna said, causing Nico to jolt in surprise.  “Pacing will accomplish little more than wear in the flooring.”
“Then what do you suggest I do with my restlessness, Lady Reyna?” Nico snapped.  Reyna raised an eyebrow at his tone, which only served to irritate Nico further.  He huffed and stormed over to sit across from his adviser.  “How much longer do I have to wait?”
“Not long,” Reyna replied, setting her book aside to give Nico her attention.  “I suspect we will be called to greet them soon.”
Nico rubbed his palms on his breeches and asked, “Do you think this coat will do?”
“It is a very fine coat, Your Highness.”
“Good,” Nico mumbled.  “It’s not too plain?”
Reyna sighed.  “Your Highness, the trim is silver with sapphires.  I do not think it is plain.”
“I don’t want him to know exactly how desperate my family is for his dowry,” Nico said defensively.  “You will stay with me, correct?”
“I will be present, should you need me.”
“And you won’t leave me alone with him?”
Reyna looked at Nico disapprovingly.  “I will remain an appropriate distance away from you and Lord William.”
“But what if I–”
“If you are to marry him, you must be able to hold a conversation with him in private.”
Nico let out a breath of disappointment.  “This will go horribly,” he muttered.
“Your Highness, all you are required to do is be polite.  Smile at him, nod, and answer his questions.  And I beg you, do not tell him that he has the face of a toad.”
“I only did that once, and he highly exaggerated my phrasing,” Nico scowled.  “Besides, he did look like a toad.”
Reyna gave him a stern look.  “And if Lord William looks like a toad, what will you do?”
“I will not call him a toad,” Nico answered begrudgingly.  “Unless, of course, the similarities are remarkable, then I do not think it would be out of place to–”
“Your Highness,” Reyna cut in sharply.  “Sometimes, I almost believe that you purposely sabotage your meetings with potential suitors.  You will not make fun of Lord William’s face, or his voice, or his laugh, or his personality, or his intelligence, or any peculiar gestures that he might have the habit of making.”
Nico crossed his arms irritably.  “Very well, then; I simply won’t speak at all.”
“If that is what you must do, then so be it,” Reyna snapped back.  That said, she picked back up her book and started to read again, making it clear that she no longer had any interest in speaking to Nico.  Nico knew he ought to reprimand her for using such a tone, but he didn’t feel up to it.  Reyna was right, as usual.
It wasn’t long after that they were summoned to the Hall of Gold to greet their visitors.  The hall was a large, open area at the front of the palace that opened to the city outside.  Nico recalled balls being held there when he was younger and the court was wealthy and fashionable.  Although the room was still magnificent, it had fallen into disuse over the years.
Nico’s parents, King Hades and his Queen Consort, Persephone, along with his younger sister were present as the Matestra’s carriage arrived outside the palace.  The doors to the Hall of Gold were held open and the royal family stood at the entrance, watching as the guests exited the carriage.
The Matestra came first.  Artemis was followed by the captain of her guard, Lady Thalia, and her aide, Lady Hestia.  Nico had seen Lady Thalia during the Matestra’s last visit, but he had not spoken to her.  He tried to avoid conversation with Thalia whenever possible; she made him think of Bianca too much.  Lady Hestia, however, Nico was fond of.  They had known each other a long time, even before she was hired as Artemis’ aide.  Hestia was always calm and polite, and something about her always made Nico feel soothed.  He hoped he would get the chance to talk to her while she was there; she had not been with the Matestra on her previous visit.
And then Lord William exited the carriage.
Nico did not remember the first time he had met Lord William, so he only was able to predict his appearance based on what he had been told by Reyna and Artemis.  He had known that his suitor would be blond and tan-skinned with blue eyes and have an average height and build.  As William approached with his aunt, Nico was glad to see that he did not look like a toad, but beyond that, Nico saw nothing noteworthy about him.  He had nice features without being irresistibly handsome, which Nico supposed was a good thing; if William had been too handsome, Nico was not sure that he would ever be able to look his suitor in the face without making a fool of himself.  William was not unpleasant to look at, however, and Nico found himself pleased with his appearance.
Pleasantries were exchanged when Artemis and William reached them, but Nico paid them little heed, instead examining William with interest, as though he might be able to discern more from his character by the intensity of his gaze.  Will looked back at him and smiled, which Nico supposed was nice, before lowering his eyes meekly.
Nico was snapped into paying attention when Will bowed to him and said, “It is an honor to meet you, Your Highness,” having apparently been introduced.
“You as well,” Nico said, and even though he tried to put an air of friendliness into his voice, his tone remained flat.
When Hades led the guests into the Hall of Gold, Nico fell in step beside William and examined him from the corner of his eye.  He had a good, strong posture, which Nico supposed he approved of, and his gait was acceptable.  His coat was nice, too; pale blue with gold embroidery and very fine buttons.  It was obviously well-made and expensive – a testament to his family’s wealth.  William’s hair was tied back, but rather untamed, which Nico supposed was excusable.
After directing Artemis’ servants to the Privilla, Hades, Artemis, Nico, and Will took their lunch outside in the cypress grove – a meal of venison and fruit from Persephone’s orchards.  Nico allowed Artemis and his father to control the conversation, instead busying himself with scrutinizing Will’s dining etiquette.  It was passable; he was obviously well-educated on the matter.  When Artemis asked him a question, Nico realized that he had been paying his suitor far too much attention and turned to focus on the conversation and the meal.
Nico felt something stroke up his ankle and he almost jolted in surprise.  He managed to keep his composure and fought the urge to peer under the table.  When it happened again, though, he looked up at Will, who was sitting across from him, and realized that the thing hitting his ankle was most definitely the toe of a shoe.  Will, however, made no movement to suggest he’d done it on purpose, so Nico let it slide.  Surely it had only been a mistake.  Will wasn’t trying to....
But Nico felt the shoe on his ankle again.  That time, when he looked up, Will offered a shy, guilty smile.  Nico didn’t smile back, so Will looked away again, his expression crestfallen.
Had he given Will the impression that he disliked it?  Nico always had trouble with suitors, in part because he was never able to seem friendly.  But this particular meeting was important; Artemis herself had arranged it and Will’s family’s wealth could prove invaluable to Nico.  Had he scared Will off?  Nico had only been surprised.  Will seemed like a pleasant young man.  Nico didn’t want to ruin their first meeting by being unfriendly as he had with so many of his previous suitors.  He hoped Will would look back so that he could try to smile for him.
When Will didn’t, Nico impulsively stuck out his foot and ran his toe over Will’s ankle just as Will had done to him.  Will looked at him, surprise written plainly across his face, and Nico smiled nervously.  Will smiled back.
When the meal was over, Nico had forgotten about his directions to invite Will for a walk until he heard Reyna, who was standing to the side of the grove with the servants, clear her throat loudly.  Nico reluctantly rose to his feet and looked at William, and although he tried to appear friendly, he was sure his face was as cold as usual.  “Lord William,” he said, keeping his nervousness carefully hidden.  “I wonder if you would join me for a walk in the gardens.”
“I would be honored, Your Highness,” William said, standing up from his chair.
Nico started to lead him towards the gardens when Reyna cleared her throat again and Nico turned his head to look at her.  She discreetly patted her elbow as a reminder for Nico to offer Will his arm.  Nico gave her a petulant look, having hoped that she’d forgotten about that bit, but Reyna merely patted her elbow with more force and frowned at him sternly.  Nico nodded sulkily, having absolutely no desire to engage in any kind of physical contact.  Nico did not like to touch and he did not like to be touched.  It was, he supposed, one of the many things that made him such an undesirable suitor.
Nico swallowed his discomfort and was about to hold out his arm, but when he turned to William, he found that William had already offered his.  He hesitated in surprise for a moment before taking it, but stayed a respectable distance away as he walked William towards the gardens.
William cleared his throat, which irritated Nico, who had heard enough cleared throats for one day.  “These gardens, as I understand, are designed by Her Majesty?” he asked.
“Oh...uh...yes,” Nico stumbled, unprepared to speak just yet.  “My mother takes pride in the grounds of the palace.  She made it her project when she married my father.”  Nico internally applauded himself for his quick answer, but soon after, it became silent between them again.  He led Will through the flowers in silence, his eyes darting around in the hopes that something might jump out and distract William from Nico’s awkwardness and discomfort.  His hand felt sweaty on Will’s elbow and Nico wanted to take it back, but he resisted.
“The grounds are quite beautiful,” William said suddenly.  “My compliments to Her Majesty.”
“Thank you,” Nico answered.  “She loves to hear that her gardens are enjoyed.”  After a moment’s hesitation, he added, “You will see the gardens around the Privilla tomorrow.  They are quite beautiful there, as well.  Do you like gardens?”
“I do, Your Highness,” Will answered.  “The grounds at my father’s estate are lovely.  I enjoy reading there when the weather is nice.”
“Then you like to read?”
“Oh, yes.  Mostly I read for my studies, but I read for amusement, as well.”
“Tell me about your studies,” Nico said, recalling that Will was a consor studying medicine.  He could likely talk about his schooling for hours, and then Nico would not have to speak for quite a while.
“I am currently doing research on plant cells for the purpose of utilizing their medical properties,” Will said.  “I find it quite interesting, but my brothers and sister tell me that it is boring.  When I first started, I considered becoming a tutor and my studies were in a more general field, and then I decided that I would rather heal.  I have been a consor since I was seven; not long after I first met you, Your Highness.”  William suddenly faltered.  “I...I mean, since my aunt’s inauguration.  We were introduced.”
“I have been told,” Nico said.  “You must forgive me; I have no memory of the meeting, but I have heard about it.”
William looked disappointed for a moment, but then he smiled.  “It was long ago, Your Highness.  Although it is a happy memory for me.”
Nico opened his mouth to speak, then promptly shut it and turned his head to face forward, focusing on the stone path and white flowers in front of them rather than on his confusion.  He wasn’t sure how it could be such a happy memory for William.  Perhaps he was referring to the inauguration itself rather than his meeting with Nico.  That seemed more sensible.  Of course the memory of his aunt becoming the Matestra was important for him.
Another silence fell between them, but this time, Nico was less desperate to fill it.  He didn’t mind the silence; he only hoped that William didn’t mind it, either.  William, however, proved difficult to read.  He smiled at Nico whenever Nico turned to look at him, which Nico didn’t quite understand.  Why would he smile so much?
At least, Nico thought, the meeting was not off to a disastrous start.  William was polite.  He didn’t seem to be fed up with Nico yet.  Perhaps if Nico could keep himself from being too horrible a suitor, he would be tolerable enough for William to marry, and then when William tired of him, it wouldn’t matter anymore.

its for an evak fic btw:
Something that Isak Valtersen has tried to accept over the last year is that sometimes love isn’t enough.
20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on.
from my book:
One of her hands came up to cup my head, and she held me tighter than she ever had before. It reminded me of when I was small, on the nights I was afraid and young and didn’t understand why I had to stay downstairs.
The small basement had seemed so big when I was a child. Monsters lurked in all of its corners. Demons waited in the shadows.
I myself was a monster, but I didn’t know it yet. I was a different type of monster; I was the type that couldn’t be killed. I was too human for that. I was the dredge of humanity.
But the thing is, when half of the population is as well, it’s much harder to hunt us. It’s much harder to hunt us when we share the faces of those that are good.
Before I knew what I was, my mother would come downstairs and tell me that one day I wouldn’t be scared, that one day I wouldn’t have to spend every day downstairs. She’d hold me and whisper empty promises.
Even then, as she held me, there was another empty promise on her lips. She didn’t say it, as I was far too old to believe it, but I knew what she was thinking.
21. Post the last sentence you wrote in one of your WIP’s.
from my current book too:

25. Linear or non-linear, and why?
i havent written non linear but i really love it because its so complex and theres so many ways to slowly reveal things and idk its amazing
26. Standalone or series, and why?
ive noticed that most books that are in a series are never as good as book 1. but, that said, there are some worlds that i love to live in and will totally take multiple books.
27. Do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished?
usually wait until its polished

29. Who do you write for?
myself.
30. Favorite line you’ve ever written.
this sounds conceited but there’s so many that i like. i guess one of my favs is:
Sometimes people leave, and sometimes they’re lost. And sometimes we don’t ever find out why. That’s a darkness that just doesn’t go away.
31. Hardest character to write.
writing my mc marley from my first book was difficult because she had so much anger towards what happened to her and it blinded her to quite a bit. and as the author i knew she was going to get over that but the character herself didnt, and it was hard.
32. Easiest character to write.
so this is fic but tbh percy jackson because it was on him and the other pjo characters that i learned to write and i spent so much time in that world that i know the characters

tag meme: what i’m writing
List all the things you’re currently working on in as much or little detail as you’d like, then tag some friends to see what they’re working on. This can be writing, art, vids, gifsets, whatever.
Tagged by: the trash monarch @sagemb
Okay so like Amy I am working on ten million things at once so I’m just going to list them in the order that they’ll probably end up done.
numero uno: corinthians, corinthians: sinking, and all corinthians-related projects
I love this fucking series with all of my heart but I’ll probably end up finishing it by the time Dwayne The Rock Johnson becomes president. Here’s an excerpt from chapter 11 of Corinthians:
“You watch your language, Valentina,” Josiah said. His voice had an underlying growl to it that betrayed a hot temper. “You raise your voice to me again and I will double your punishment. You will be shoveling waste until the cows come home.”
“That analogy doesn’t make any sense!” She shouted. Her hair flew everywhere. “We don’t even have cows!”
An excerpt from Corinthians: Sinking:
They tell the new guy about the regular, but he still fumbles through his first interaction with him, all thumbs at the cash register and stutters when he speaks.
“Lilies, right?” Jack asks. He fidgets with the ends of his apron.
“Lilies.” Dimitri nods and glances at something on his phone. He couldn’t pay less attention to Jack if he tried.
The metal tip of Jack’s prosthetic leg taps against the tile of the florist shop as he reaches into the back for the ever-present bundle of lilies reserved for their ever-present Sunday customer.
Dimitri glances down at Jack’s leg, but knows better than to ask about someone else’s war wounds. Jack notices his glance and bites his lip.
“Strigoi attack,” Jack says. He places the lilies on the counter gingerly. “They like whole limbs now, I guess.”
Dimitri grunts and Jack is suddenly away of how imposing his frame is in the tiny store. He hands Jack a set of bills and takes the lilies, leaving without another word.
An excerpt from Monarchists:
“You? You’re in class with them?” Sasha pointed towards the trio, who had moved on from braiding Norah’s hair to reading a book Loren had brought with studious sincerity.
“Astounding, I know,” Kailani said dryly. “But they can’t go it on their own. They might make up water, fire, and air, but they still need earth. Rumor has it, they’re searching for a spirit user as well, but none have turned up in this generation yet.”
As Sasha watched them from afar, Norah lifted her head from the book and made eye contact with him. She had an unscrupulous glance, but her face was so mesmerizingly beautiful it was like staring at the sun. Norah smiled, slow and cat-like. Sasha blinked, looking away in embarrassment.
“Don’t get too attached,” Kailani said, looking at Sasha’s expression. “The last one in their little group died in the spring semester. Brigitte was a bitch, but she didn’t deserve to be pulled apart by Strigoi like a rack of baby-back ribs.”
“And you?” Sasha asked.
“What about me?” Kailani answered.
“Do you think you’ll go the same way?” Sasha turned away from Norah’s group sitting on the grass, but could still feel her gaze on him.
“I like to think that I’ll go out in a more spectacular fashion. Maybe sparklers will be involved.” There was a twinkle in Kailani’s eye.
numero dos: paradise
This is half a short film and half a podcast. I have 10 million ideas running around in my head for Paradise and originally wanted to make it a mockumentary short film, but I think I can do it as a podcast as a proof of concept thing, then make that into a short film when I have the resources.
The town of Paradise is shaken by the murder of the town sweetheart, Kitty Westerfield. When an opportunistic journalism student catches wind of the conspiracies surrounding her death, she begins an investigation that might reveal more than she bargained for.
The Paradise cheer squad set up a memorial for her by her locker. It's decorated with pictures from her Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat. Her favorite flower is a light pink rose and Laura has made sure her locker is full of them. It smells up the entire hallway; people can barely stand it. It's as if Kitty Westerfield is haunting everyone from beyond the grave.
numero tres: wardlaw gardens
This has been in my back pocket for years and years. I sort of want to start shooting scenes from it, but I’m afraid it will fall flat, you know? My original concept was a four-book series, but I’m thinking it might better suit a TV show.
It was the quiet moments right after midnight when he could finally breathe. Bruise preferred a solitary life, which was something most people never understood. So he came here, to the roof. To the only place where he could think.
He narrowed his eyes as the light flickered again, this time in another window. Someone at Wardlaw was a restless as he was.
The world held its breath.
Bruise stood, shaking the darkness of the night off of him. His cigarette was gone and Monet had disappeared, taking the lighter with him. He made a note to buy another pack from the corner store when they were let off for weekends.
“Goodnight,” Bruise said, half to the world around him and half to the light in the distance, ever-flickering.
He began walking back towards the edge of the fire escape, but turned around to take one last look at the distant outline of Wardlaw Gardens.
The manor home was stately and vast, only the main house visible from the roof of Dumfries’s east wing. All lights were off save for one on the top floor at the far end. The curtains shifted to reveal a figure that Bruise could barely make out through the darkness. He could have sworn she put a finger over her lips.
Quiet.
The bell tower in the village chimed lightly, echoing across the surrounding mountainside and breaking Bruise out of his reverie. He descended the fire escape and entered the east wing of Dumfries through a crack in the back door. It was one o’clock in the morning.
Some call the hour after midnight the witching hour.
numero quatro: stygian
Uh, I just really love PJO/HP crossovers??
numero cinque: other shit i found in my google drive
So there was a thing called The Other Few about an aged child saviour of a fantasy realm that portalled to different places and was framed for murder:
“’Hmm?’ All you have to say to that is ‘hmm?’” Walden was becoming increasingly exasperated.
“Time moves more slowly in the Other Realm,” Isa said. “Hollis and I were taken in the late 1800s, but didn’t come back until recently.”
“No thanks to you,” Hollis said.
“Will you ever let that go?” Isa asked.
“They exiled me into the 1980s,” Hollis said. “It was awful.”
“Okay, so you’re time travelers,” Walden said.
“No,” Hollis and Isa said in unison.
“So you’re aliens,” Walden replied.
“No.”
“Alright,” Walden threw his hands into the air. “I give up.”
Isa sighed. “Hollis and I were soldiers. We were chosen when we were children by people from the Other Realm to help carry out a prophecy, but because we lived in the Other Realm so long there were… side effects.”
“Like your friend here’s translucent skin and my immortality,” Hollis said.
“You get to live forever?” Walden asked.
Hollis leveled a blank stare at him. “Yeah, it’s a hoot.”
Something called Mortuaria that only had a character list???:
NARRATOR
The one who narrates.
CECIL PAIL
A calm child of fourteen years. He is very reserved and considers his words carefully before he says them. Ebenezer’s nephew.
EBENEZER CAIRO
The eccentric owner of the funeral home in town. He may be silly at times, but his beliefs are very firm and he is often closed-minded about the most ridiculous things.
CARTER LANG
The funeral home assistant to Ebenezer. He preps all of the bodies for burial. Carter bears the burden of most of the work and does it with grace and a touch of sarcasm.
CONSTANCE BAUDELAIRE
The eldest sister in the Baudelaire coven. She has had to play mother after their father died and their mother succumbed to the darkness. She is strong-willed and always ready for an argument. Constance helps protect the reapers within the funeral home.
MAGDALENA BAUDELAIRE
The middle child of the Baudelaire coven. Maggie is the soft side to everything and a social butterfly, often complimenting Constance’s rougher side.
CARYS AND IVA BAUDELAIRE
The youngest girls in the Baudelaire coven and twins. Carys is handy with potions magic but cannot seem to perform spells on her own. Iva has a wealth of power but rejects the notion of witches.
RHYS IRONS
A well-dressed demon with a Queen’s English accent. He is often dressed in fine suits and pines after Constance.
AMARINTHE KAR
The nephilim librarian and caretaker of the Historic Lindley house. Cecil’s tutor. She’s a spitfire of a woman that gets along better with the elder residents of the town than people her own age.
ADELAIDE AND BRAM PAIL
Cecil’s parents. Seafaring treasure hunters that were lost at sea after searching for the pirate ship Perroux.
THE VERY IMPORTANT MEN
Two men that send Cecil to live with his uncle, claiming to be from the government. There is something inhuman about their very dark hair and very nice suits.
TAXI DRIVER
The man who is hired by the Very Important Men to take Cecil to Ebenezer’s house.
Hell, the precursor to Paradise and definitely a short film that will win me an Oscar:
A prom queen goes missing in the small town of Hell, prompting questions about the mysterious crack in the earth that lay just outside of the city limits.
BETTI (V.O.)
Did you ever stop to think--
UP FROM BLACK
CUT TO: MAIN ROAD
Betti is riding her bike. We see the town sign.
INTERCUT: BEHIND THE HIGH SCHOOL
Betti and Theo are sharing a joint.
BETTI (cont’d)
--that our town is pretty weird?
CUT TO: AN OPEN FIELD
Betti wakes up next to the crack. Aerial shot of the crack.
THEO
Nah. It’s the suburbs.
CUT TO: VARIOUS
Kellianne Hamilton smiles widely at a bake sale. Children play in a playground. Teenagers laugh encouragingly.
Desperate grabs inside of a coat closet. The wicked glint of blood being licked off of teeth. Someone knocks someone else out with the blunt end of a knife handle.
THEO
How bad can it be?
And an amazing script for a movie called Grace Under Pressure about a girl who was cheated on by the lead singer in the band she manages, he’s kicked out, she has to babysit her sister’s genius non-binary kid for the summer, the lead singer winds up dead, and the entire band rally’s around stealing the lead singer’s ashes and sprinkling them all over America on a road trip.

Tagged by @washington-jones! ...and kind of by @wellhalesbells! So, here’s a thing! Rules: Tag 20 followers that you would like to get to know better!
I don’t actually feel like looking through and tagging people right now. I blame le fever. So do it if you wish!
NAME: heather.
NICKNAME: y’know, when i was a kid i was always super bummed because heather isn’t exactly prime nickname material. the only one who really uses a nickname for me is my mom, who oscillates wildly between heath (not heath, like heathbar, but heth. like, y’know, half my name) and angel plum.
STAR SIGN: sagittarius.
GENDER: female.
HEIGHT: 5′5″
FAVORITE COLORS: i like most colors, but shades of greens and purples are my favorites.
TIME RIGHT NOW: jesus christ, apparently it’s 1:20am already.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: generally somewhere between 6 and 8. i used to be really horrible about it because sleep was the enemy, but nick’s usually pretty good at prodding me til i put the damn book down.
LAST THING I GOOGLED: ‘melon cobbler.’ i made a chicken-potato-carrot-green bean dish for dinner, which turned out to be more experimental than not, because the recipe for the sauce called for ketchup but we were out, so i improvised with our roommate’s sriracha sauce. it ended up being pretty good, but the point to this is that because i made dinner, nick made peach cobbler and he got that look on his face and said a honeydew cobbler would be interesting, and i had to prove him wrong because weird okay, so i googled melon cobbler and lo and behold, apparently it exists. so. that’s probably something we’re going to inevitably try.
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: it varies. nick likes sleeping with just the sheet and i like sleeping with a legit blanket, but we usually kind of tug them back and forth all night because inevitably i steal his sheet because he gets to be a furnace at night and then he gets cold so he steals my blanket and generally when we wake up they’re either twisted around both of us or the cats inherited them and we’re shivering messes.
FAVORITE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS: again, they tend to vary based off of the fandoms that i’m in and the day of the week, phase of the moon, etc. etc. i’m pretty fond of laurent atm because i’m rereading bits of captive prince. rodney’s pretty swell. nico. bill cipher. axel. uh. lydia martin. rey. eobard thawne. yurio. marceline. ronan lynch. garnet. uh. loki? i’m gonna stop now.
FAVORITE BOOKS: the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater, the captive prince trilogy by c.s. pacat, uprooted by naomi novak, i’ll give you the sun by jandy nelson, the bartimaeus trilogy by jonathon stroud... oh, fuck it. my goodreads favorites shelf.
FAVORITE BANDS: stars is still pretty close to the top, though i think halsey and lindsey stirling have both taken over as my favorites artists.
DREAM JOB: i think the end goal is still to write a book that actually turns a profit. or failing that, get hired on by valve or something to write video games. but honestly? i have a really quiet fantasy right now of owning a bookshop and just kind of being.
WHAT AM I WEARING RIGHT NOW: looks down at self. uh. i can firmly say that i was wearing a shirt, but it’s really hot in this room so i’m wearing pajama pants with my shirt wrapped around my boobs because those are cold even when the rest of my body is boiling lava hot, of fucking course.
WHEN DID YOU CREATE YOUR BLOG: i know that i knew the answer to this question recently. i want to say that i created it in 2010-2011. probably closer to 2010? yeah, 2010, because it was when i moved back to south carolina for a bit and lj pretty much up and died on me, so i finally took the plunge.
CURRENT AMOUNT OF FOLLOWERS: 726 on here and 900 something on the writing blog that i never fucking update anymore. whoops, sorry guys.
WHAT DO YOU POST ABOUT: see. my dash board freaks me out because i can blink and 500 posts will have come and gone, so i have a couple select blogs bookmarked on chrome (you know who you are) and i just reblog the things that catch my interest from there. since these blogs are pretty much all pretty different fandom-wise, i kind of get a smorgasbord of things. but basically it boils down to pretty places, pretty people, fandom related things, and occasionally, politics.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER BLOGS: yes. i have @callunawrites, which is the aforementioned rarely updated writing blog and @callunarecs, which is my even more seldomly updated recs blog. and by seldom i mean i haven’t updated it in two years. though apparently i accidentally reblogged two things over there like a year ago. that’s weird.
WHEN DID YOUR BLOG REACH ITS “PEAK” (WHEN DID YOU GET MORE FOLLOWERS, HAVE POPULAR POSTS, ETC): pretty much when i posted a bunch of pjo, but most notably when @minuiko drew a few things for a fic that i wrote a few years ago. i think there have been a few spurts here and there when i get a rec, and it was going up pretty steadily when i was regularly writing for teen wolf, but alas. i am a potato atm.
WHO IS YOUR MOST ACTIVE FOLLOWER: according to tumblr, atm it’s hyenasloth, but i can’t really answer the question long term. probably one of the mutuals that i actually talk to instead of curling up in a ball and not talking to anyone ever.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GET A TUMBLR: pretty much everyone i knew and loved on lj was abandoning ship, so i eventually reluctantly followed. i’m still sad about it.
DO YOU GET ASKS ON A DAILY BASIS: thankfully, no. i’m already bad enough at responding to the ones that i do get, mostly because i get the notification at work and i’ll stuff my phone back in my pocket and go, lol, i’ll get back to them when i get home. and then i forget. don’t worry, guys. this happens with my family too. i’m really bad about it.
TAG 20 PEOPLE: pst, do it if you wanna.
