Heya! I’m going around and asking a bunch of my favorite Tmnt artists the same questions out of curiosity

How did you discover/get into Tmnt?

When did you start drawing/actively start trying to improve your art?

The 2003 series was my first intro to TMNT waaay back when I was in middle school! I would sit with my cousin—though I will say, it was more that he was actively watching it and I was just happy to be included, cause he was so cool and taught me how to play Dead or Alive and holy crap he liked the coolest stuff—so I had to rewatch the series again later on to retain more than just my favorite moments. It still has a special place in my heart, and 2003 Donnie will always be my first, favorite purple dude. Then, years later 2012 and Rise were what really yanked me into my obsession phase.

As for my art. I’ve been drawing for forever, honestly. I can’t remember when i started. I have a vivid memory of winning some art thing in…3rd grade, I believe? And I’ve been working digitally since high school.

I think improving just happens from drawing a LOT. You learn the basics, and then do studies constantly to reinforce those basics.

Of course, there was always a frustration when I was younger, from not being at the skill level I wanted to be. But I would only do unhelpful things, like scrolling the internet for hours, and comparing my art to every amazing piece I saw, but in reality, I was putting in nearly zero effort.

Once I really started to learn beyond simply copying the styles of the anime I watched (lol big former weeb here)—eventually I got to a point where I could draw more than just floating heads in a void (which…I’ll admit sometimes I still do, but at least I know I can do more if I need to lmao)

I’m now much happier with my style and skill level, but that doesn’t mean I can stop! There will always be more to improve on!

===========UNPOPULAR OPINION===========

Terry is underrated!

Alright, hear me out! I know Terry's technically the 'bad guy' in soul, as a lot of people see it. But I have a bad habit of obsessing over the ones that die and the bad guys, but my little rat guy is 10/10. Not only did they choose a GREAT voice actor for the dude, but his personality is great!

Not to mention his design stands out from the Jerry's, and the fact he's just a little cocky bastard looking for some attention. I love that they chose a rat (or a mouse, whatever you like to think) for him, and personally I believe he doesn't get as much attention as he should.

My guy deserves some credit! Counting the souls for all eternity, like man! That's uh... *slowly counts with fingers* eh... A LOT OF SOULS! We saw that Mr. Mittens went to the Great Beyond as well, so that means he's been counting ALL souls! That could even mean PLANTS! My guy needs more credit.

Personally I was saddened when I had to go digging deep just to find some Terry gifs, like :(. I'd love to see some more creative art of this guy, cause he has a ton of potential. For example; little stories, comics or animations of when the count get's off, and him chasing down souls of iconic historian figures and such. Also if he watches other universes like for example; Starwars, Bleach, MLP, Encanto, Death Note, Kipo, you name it. I'd love to see some of those amazing crossovers!

Did I mention his themes "Terry Time" and "Terry Time Too"? Fucking great music! Holy crap it's so nice when I'm writing a fanfiction, or just want some mood neutral music. Or maybe when I'm looking for that 'creative spark' (cough pun intended). That shit is a banger, legit could listen to it on loop for hours. It gives me that neutral creativity vibe, or maybe that futuristic scientist vibe. Or well, Terry vibes!

I might take it upon myself to write his backstory and some quick drabbles about how he got the job, his run-ins with runaway souls, losing count, etc.

NEW SONIC PRIME CLIP TAILS, ORIGINS, TRAINS, TORNADO, BURNING SHOES, BOUNCY ANIMATION, SONIC EMOTIONS BROS AHHH (sorry just super excited)

CAN I JUST RAMBLE ABOUT THIS SCENE FOR A SECOND? CAUSE I'M ABOUT TO RAMBLE A BIT

Like holy crap, that animation was so damn smooth and bouncy, Sonic and Nine with such expressive emotions. I'm a sucker for these two and their sibling relationship, but it’s even more interesting in this clip since they don't know each other since a version of Sonic apparently doesn't exist in this dimension, so Nine grew up in this harsh world by himself, not relying on anyone and to make himself multiple mechanical Tails as a way to protect himself.

It makes this scene hurt even more with this knowledge, like with this shot here when Sonic is trying to explain to Nine that they were friends,

It looks like he's almost at his wits end since the kid was apparently attacking him prior to the clip starting, and is trying anything at this point to get it through to him.

I especially love this shot right here, the way the two are close together but the area around them is cold and open, it sorta represents what's going on with these two at this point in their meeting, unfamiliar and distant, basically strangers.

And Sonic’s ears going all floppy and the tapping of his feet when he was trying to figure out what was going on was such a great animation detail XD.

Then came the sweetest part, Nine gets curious and asks Sonic how Tails is in his dimension and what else they did, Sonic just gives him this look of "Dude, you are an amazing kid."

The way he explains to him on how he has the Tornado, how they fought against Eggman multiple times together, it’s the way he describes it just makes it all the better. (Excuse the crappy gif quality, it's the best with what Tumblr gives us)

This whole clip was just a treat to watch and I am so glad it exists now in the form of this show.

I just finished watching Tales of the Jedi and I have a lot of words so SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched it.

I don't want to put this under a read more because I feel like that'll just make people ignore the post so please, if you haven't filtered spoilers and don't want to be spoiled, close your eyes and scroll past this fast :D

I'll be as coherent as I can 😅

First off I am blown. Blown away by this. I'm in awe at how much Star Wars can make me feel and how this is the only franchise that will do this to me.

Episode one, I cried. Baby 'Soka, I shall protect you from everything even though you shall be the one protecting me even with thou chubby baby legs. But when the end credits rolled and Ahsoka's theme played, I teared up. I hadn't cried with Star Wars ever since Crosshair was left on Kamino!! For a moment, I was nine years old watching The Clone Wars in the movie theater with my brother all over again 🥺

Now... Dooku. I hate him. I love him. I love to hate him. I hate to love him. I love Yaddle more (seriously, Yaddle my beloved, I'm not over that). And the way I howled when I realized some of the events were set in TPM?! I mean, animated TPM Qui Gon?! MY CHILDHOOD-

The sadness that Dooku felt at losing Qui Gon, and the scene at the tree felt so surreal. I would have loved to see Dooku's fall to the Dark Side in much more detail but this is in no way a complaint; I love the execution and the short story format, and I felt the setting was exposed pretty clearly and just- AGH.

Also, that scene where Dooku tells the guy from Raxus he can kind of understand his point of view, and while he talks, his face is lit red and the background behind him is dark - *faints* I love it when a scene can visually reflect a character's inner turmoils. 10/10

I still love Yaddle more.

and Mace Windu was fuckin' amazing in this, as he always is. We stan Mace Windu in this house - holy crap.

Now. Now. NOW.

Tales of the Jedi is truly special because, while many will like to dismiss nostalgia factor as pure frivolity, it's the reason I and possibly others feel so intensely right now.

We saw Ahsoka again, as well as Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, Jesse. Characters I watched as a kid, who have shaped me in one way or another; we see them grwo with the course of the mini series, and we can tell the context and feel either joy or pain, mostly pain by the end. I had no clue that the training montages with Rex and the boys would lead so smoothly (and so painfully) back to Order 66.

There's a sequence I will now watch with even more pain!! Thank you, Felony.

Also DEPA BILLABA AND CALEB DUME. Guys. The incoherent noises I made at seeing them. I yelled and cried and fangirled and asdkjhañksjdghañsdbgj it was gorgeous to see them. Their cameo didn't even have words, they were just there and it made sense and it felt nice and I love it. Same with Plo and Yoda.

And I respect Ahsoka way more now knowing she worked hard days under the sun. Respect to my queen. UGH and the pain of knowing she was at Padmé's procession because they were friends, having Bail tell her there was nothing she could have done for them (isn't Bail Organa just the best, most comforting character in the franchise?)

And that inquisitor - I was bummed that it ended so quickly. People, I'm a slut for Percy de Rolo, and then you give me an inquisitor with a bird like mask and a deep voice? AÑISDJHGFAÑSBJGFDA anyways ummm Ahsoka was a badass, as usual, and I really wanted to smack the dude who turned her in.

Hehes, I really hope not to have rambled too much. I'm still not over it, these are just my thoughts on the whole series. Soon, I'm going to rewatch it with a bag of popcorn.

I would literally be drawing more art, but all of my free leisure time is now spent on playing Baldur's Gate 3.

I love this game so much and I want to keep going. It's so weird how a couple of months ago, this game was definitely not on my radar. Even after the previews I had zero interest in it. But then someone said "it was the closest video game experience to DnD" and only then was I intrigued.

It's been a month since this game came out and I still maybe in the middle of Act 3, so I have not yet finished the game. After all the spoilers that I've accidentally seen, this game is *still* surprising me . I'm posting some highlights below, so don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

Spoilery list of highlights so far below (you've been warned):

I started with playing a druid, but I fell in love with my Bard, and I can't imagine playing the game now without his vicious mockery insults. Randomly playing in synch with other bards you come across was a delight too.

All of the Shadow Cursed lands. Especially the Thorms. I took a lot of satisfaction out of talking my way out of most of the encounters. And holy crap, the Sisters in the House of Healing were beautiful. I cannot WAIT to see cosplay of them.

That intellect devourer you rescue at the beginning of the game, I had assumed was killed in the crash, but you get to rescue it again at the end of Act 2!!!

In Baldur's Gate (Act 3) after you meet a widow in an apothecary shop, outside there is a cat, that if you have speaks with animals on, you can convince to meet the shopkeeper and help her out

in exploring the lower city, I came across the graves of Karlach's parents, with Karlach in the group. It was such as sweet moment.

busting Duke Ravenguard out of that prison, holy jesus, that entire scenario was beautiful and amazing. I did two attempts to try to rescue all the prisoners (I didn't succeed, and even got my Tav killed because I tried to RP him waiting until everyone got back onto the sub). The rest of the group found Tav on a beach and rezzed him.

Wyll's proposal. Wow. I know some people say that Wyll's romance is boring, but I loved how wholesome and beautiful it was.

There were a few things that also surprised me in sort of negative way:

I wasn't keen on Halsin. I thought I'd love having him as part of the main crew, but he had old hippy professor energy that wasn't appealing to me at all. I was so happy that I was able to recruit Jaheira for all my druiding needs.

I figured out on my own that our Guardian was a mindflayer, but the Emperor went into flirt mode almost immediately. Actually, all the companions did, which I understand was a bug, but there was so much second hand embarassment watching everyone profess their deep desires even after no 'romantic' interactions from my bard. My Tav had to attempt to gently turn them down but cringing the hole time.

I spent so much time trying to rescue Minsc, but please dude, do more damage!! I get that he's a classic character, but it's so late in the game to introduce a ranger, why did it have to be so difficult to get him as a companion? And because it's so late in the game, I didn't have much gear for him, and I'm still trying to figure out how to play him so that he does useful damage.

OH OK OK I’m honestly such a huge animation fan bc I’ve dabbled in it and know how much blood and tears and sweat goes into making a film SO my fav movie has to be into the spiderverse (the first one) bc it was just. So good. Amazing soundtrack + revolutionized the animation industry + the mc is basically my one and only kin ever so it’s just UGHHH the film is so so big in my heart 😭😭 like I even flew to ny bc they were do a live orchestral showing for it and I just could not resist the urge (tho my bank acc was yelling at me the whole time) do u have a fav movie?? and OH WAIT U DIDNT SEE BARBIE YET i hope u enjoy tell me ur thoughts after!!

YESSS spiderverse is such a juggernaut of a film i believe it is one of the most perfect film out there and one of the most impactful of our time as well like you can really see the animation seep into other movies like pib2 and the bad guys . its such a masterful and amazingly crafted film that like most words said will not be able to do the film justice since its like THAT good holy crap

Look at how gently Bruno looks at the stuffed jaguar Antonio gives to him. His expression is so precious!

And his confused expression in the background when trying to figure out if Mirabel is hugging or fighting is amazing. XD

Of course, who can forget Mirabel’s incredulous expression when she realizes it’s Isabela she has to hug.

And Bruno gets so dang excited, he’s like a puppy and I’m living for it.

Mirabel and Isabela frolicking on the roof surrounded by sharp, pointy, and likely toxic exotic plants is going to be my background for a while. XD

When Casita starts breaking, did you notice how concerned Camilo is? Makes me wonder if he’s after the candle or Mirabel herself? He looks so worried.

And after Mirabel goes missing, Dolores tries to listen for Mirabel only to realize her Gift is gone. she looks so dang heartbroken that she can’t find her prima.

After Mirabel returns. When she goes to help Luisa move the rock, her older sister looks so surprised. Whether that’s because Mirabel can actually move this rock, or because someone offered her help is left up to interpretation. Could be both.

When Abuela starts apologizing for how she acted, Pepa looks like the sky’s about to fall down.

Camilo straight up trying to figure out why Bruno isn’t a 7ft tall scream-eating monster.

Abuela and Pepa look so shocked when Bruno starts singing. “Is that really my brother? Actively participating in something involving people?!”

And then when he takes her hand, she looks suspicious as hell. “What are you up to?” That moment your brother starts being nice for seemingly no reason.

Anyone else notice Camilo’s shocked expression in the background? I thought it was hilarious.

Even Julieta and Abuela are shook. 😂

That’s literally what his expression is saying. This face of his lives in my head rent-free, I’ll have you know.

I never realized that Dolores not only sang this part with Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabela, but she also literally leapt off the roof with her dad beside her and hoisted her youngest brother up into the air.

(Spoilers below) Two episodes in 24 hours. I was a bit underwhelmed by Qilin. So Lets see what Penalteam brings to the table

Okay so I did feel the hero intros were rushed. But I was very entertained.

I wish they didnt bulk intro the other heroes. It feels like they got robbed. But I did enjoy the akuma and the set up.

The ending was also good.

The lesson of the day was obvious but that was expected. It was a lot more fun

8 out of 10.

If the other heroes were more fleshed out and Ivan and Sabrina were given more personality I feel like this would be higher.

So, uh, I was watching Centaurworld again and noticed a friggin wild thing about the Nowhere King’s design.

Like everything about this dude is designed to be otherworldly, creepy and just kinda feel wrong, but this might actually take the cake.

My man’s transparent.

Like, you can see through him.  You don’t notice it much because he spends most of his time in front of the blank backgrounds, but yeah.  Here’s the kicker though.

Spoilered because even though his design’s kind of public knowledge, this shot is sorta important, but it’s the best one to demonstrate what I’m talking about so I’m stuck with it.

Light does not diffuse through him, it reflects off of him like he’s opaque.

I know that’s probably some form of animation error or just something they didn’t think about, but if it’s not, wow.  That is some God Tier character design right there.  He’s got all this big in-your-face freakiness going on but then on top of all of that he’s got these two little things that make your hindbrain go Bad, Wrong, Not Real, Nonono, absolutely amazing work.

Top that off with the fact that the theme for when he’s onscreen is the wacked out synth from Annihilation, which is a deeply underutilized sound but is just perfect for Eldritch Nonsense, and holy crap this dude just takes every shot he’s in and holds it.

Millie (who recently came out to her dad and I as bisexual, wanted to go pride in Melbourne.  So that’s what the entire family did.  Even daddy wore a rainbow shirt!  Still can’t get the tiara on him, though. Not for lack of trying on Addie’s part, mind you lol

Afterwards, we hit up a street fair and daddy, Brookie, Millie, and the boys killed it on the midway.  As if we didn’t have way too many stuffed animals at home before this!

We finally got to the France! Staying for a few days at a beautiful home in Provence (owned by a client of Tae’s and graciously lent to us) before we head to Paris!  I finally get my kiss under the Eiffel Tower :)

We’re away for client business and we got a text from Millie saying she was asked out  the grade eight prom.  She’s in grade seven. AND she got asked by two people. A boy and a girl.  She’s not sure who she likes better and wants OUR opinions.  I was squealing with excitement, but Dad isn’t sure how to handle the news that his baby girl is has been asked out on a date. 

Family trip!! Enjoying some time in the Outback. Going to camp for a few days and then head to The Kimberley for a week :)

These are the conversations Elm would hear behind her back as people were afraid of her height despite being one of the best huntsmen team members of Atlas. This would cause her to never get asked out nor being able to have a perfect date with someone as they’re afraid she might break them.

“So how was it taking those kids to school?” She asks her fellow huntsman as they were at a coffee shop down in Mistral as she and Jaune were taking a day off

“They’re great. I kind of wish you would still tell me about the mission first before handing it to me.” He said while drinking his hot chocolate as he never liked the taste of coffee. “So how about you? What have you been up to?”

“I’ve been better.” She responded quickly while lying about why she asked him to meet her today “I’m sure you wondering why I’ve asked you to come here.”

“To drink hot drinks during a cold season?” He joked as she giggled 

“No. It’s a little more....serious.”

“Did Team RWBY do something wrong? Did Ruby steal Harriets cookies?” 

“No and No. Besides, Harriet doesn’t eat sweats. It’s more about you and me.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well.....I’ve noticed you’ve been starring at my breasts and ass during my time at the gym.” This caused him to cough after taking a sip of his drink

She felt amazing. After their little show at the coffee shop, they’ve rushed back to her place as the two went into heat and ***ked like animals until the sun rose back up. Hal knelt before the young child, eyes kind as he asked softly, “Hey kid, you think you can show me where my friends are?” he smiled. “I need to find them. It’s really important.”

They blinked their eyes, big and wide, then reached out and took his white gloved hand. “Bo naal zu’u,” they said and led him down a winding path, sheltered by vibrant and glowing flowers.

Their fingers were cold, much like their skin, a pale blue and had bioluminescent white and blue marks along their arms and legs; their body was clothed in leather garment, something he’d only seen cave people wearing in museums, adorned with thick black leather strips holding sharpened bones.

The night sky above them shone with billions of twinkling stars, only compared in beauty to the phosphorescent plants around them. Hal and the others had crashed landed on the planet after an anomaly was found; something in the atmosphere had siphoned the energy from their rings, causing them all to disperse as the static shock echoed outwards. Hal had ended up by some red lake and knowing it probably wasn’t water, decided to avoid it.

He’d wandered all day trying to find one of the other Corpsmen but to no avail; and he’d narrowly avoided being attacked by any wildlife in the thick and dense forest. He’d seen the kid watching him for a while and knowing that they probably had some idea of where Kyle, Guy, and John were, he decided to talk to them.

Surprisingly, they’d offered food and water, which he was wary to take, but too hungry and thirsty to care. Hal was glad he did because the taste made him feel like he was a dying man at a feast. Once he’d finished, he tried to speak to them, but they only cocked their head back and forth, white brows furrowing as he spoke, and yet, it seemed like they understood.

“Where are you leading me?” he whispered and they turned their head, gazing at him.

“Hofkiin,” they said, and Hal shook his head.

“I don’t understand what that means, kid.”

They frowned, looking at their feet. “Zu’u los drun hi wah dii hofkiin.” Shaking their head, they tugged his hand again. “Hin fahdon los til.”

Hal sighed, realizing he wasn’t going to understand them no matter what and resigned himself to being led around by a glowing blue alien speaking another language.

After an hour of walking, they came upon a cave and they kid stopped, pointing to it. “Hin fahdon los ko.”

Hal blinked, looking down at them. “Inside? Go inside?”

They nodded and he inhaled deeply, stilling himself as he pulled away the thick brush and crouched, crawling underneath. Immediately he was greeted by the warmth of a fire and someone yelling, “HAL!”

His eyes widened as he was bearhugged by Guy, the man’s shout awakening the two sleeping Green Lanterns under animal hides, who scrambled up and into the hug as well.

Hal was never so glad to see all his friends more than that moment and he looked behind him at the small alien child crawling inside. “Thank you.”

They smiled and hurried over, climbing up the back of his legs and torso to wrap their arms around everyone���s heads. “Mu los brod!” they shouted cheerfully, and Hal cracked a grin, looking at the guys.

“How’d you guys get here?” Hal asked as they pulled away.

John nodded at the alien sliding down Hal’s back, tugging Kyle over to a wall covered in drawings. “Kid found us all and brought us here one by one.”

“Can’t understand shit they’re saying though,” Guy remarked. “But it seems like they understand us.” His eyes went to Hal’s ring. “Have you got any juice left?”

Hal’s fingers twitched and he frowned. “No. Do you guys—”

“Holy crap!”

They all spun at Kyle’s exclamation, eyes widening when he picked up a Power Battery keyed into their rings.

“Is that a—”

Kyle looked at John. “A power battery? Uh, yeah it is.” He glanced at the alien. “Where’d you get this?”

The child blinked, then reached into its satchel, digging around for a moment before pulling something out and holding it to him. “Bormah lost nii aan lingrah bok vod.” They slipped the ring onto their finger and to everyone’s amazement, a green suit flowed over their leather dressed body. “Rok ofun nii wah zu’u.”

Everyone stood in shock and Hal breathed, “Oh my God, they’re a Green Lantern.”

With their rings charged, they were ready to depart the planet and give their reports once they got back to Oa, but it all seemed heavy for the young one as they gripped Kyle’s leg and refused to let go, only shouting, “Mu los brod! Hi nis bo nol zu’u!”

Kyle looked at them for support, then bent down and patted their head. “Kid, we have to leave.”

They stared at him with teary eyes, taking his hand and showing him the ring before flashing their own. “Mu los brod!”

“The ring?” he asked, and they nodded, then gestured between them. “You and me? Us?” they nodded then pointed at Hal and the other two, then back to themselves. “All of us?”

“Mu los brod,” they said, gesturing in a circle between them, then clasping their hands together. “Brod.”

“Brothers?” Guy called out and they shook their head.

John frowned. “Maybe they mean the Corps? The Green Lanterns Corps? All of us belong to it?”

Another shake of their head and they did the gesturing again. “Mu los brod. Brod.”

Then it clicked and Hal said, “Family.”

The kid’s eyes went wide, and they pointed at him, shouting, “Geh! Geh! Mu los brod!”

“We’re family,” Hal repeated, then glanced at his ring. “That’s why they don’t want us to leave. We’re family through the rings.”

Kyle’s brows furrowed. “Well, what are we supposed to do? We can’t take them with us. This is their home. What about their family?”

The child shook their head. “Dii brod lost oblaan.” They thumbed the ring. “Zu’u bon aal hi.” Their green suit flashed to life, and they took Kyle’s hand, then took Hal’s and rose into the sky, the other two Green Lanterns hurrying to fly with them.

“Wait, are you coming with us?” Guy yelled and the kid nodded.

“Geh.”

Hal huffed a laugh. “I think that means yes, Guy.” He glanced at the others. “I guess we’ve got a kid now.”

“I’m not ready to be a parent though!” Kyle yelped and looked up at the kid. "I gotta be like your older brother! I'm not old enough to be a dad!"

The kid and the other guys merely laughed at Kyle's splutters.
