I support small fees for things that should probably be free because it keeps human refuse away. A park near where I live was once free to the public and you couldn't even drive by without seeing litter everywhere, whole park was covered in a haze of weed stick and vague booze smell, always some group of racially ambiguous 19 year olds hanging out in the parking lot scaring off the elderly. About a year ago they started charging $1 (ONE WHOLE DOLLAR) to enter and its like I moved to fucking marthas vineyard. ZERO litter, no more 24/7 skunk stank, I don't even bother locking my car half the time, you can actually see wildlife walking around in the park now, it's wonderful. I don't know what it is about literal pocket change that scares these cretins away but if that's all it takes then I'll happily spend a dollar for a few peaceful minutes at the park.

i think what ticks me off the most about recent changes staff have been making to tumblr is they keep insisting it's necessary bc they need to draw in and retain new users or they're NEVER going to keep things going, so their solution is to... add a bunch of annoying and unintuitive shit that A) isn't going to appeal to anyone, let alone new people, but also B) piss off the existing user base.
like, im sorry, between the two demographics who do you think is going to ACTUALLY care enough about tumblr to use it every day and pay for things like no ads, or your merch based off decade old memes? i give this site the 5 or whatever bucks it takes to get rid of its stupid ad posts in part bc they're annoying but also because i have been on this fucking webbed site for 12 years! and i don't mind giving it some money to keep it running. BUT. not if that's paying for staff's ability to add more useless/convoluted/unappealing features that dont have MY user experience in mind

Post S3. Steve — inspired by how out of shape the kids were, knowing they're about to enter highschool territory and will need even better stamina to protect themselves from bullies, and it's just good for them — harasses the party into doing morning cross-country style runs.
At first they obviously try to get out of it. But once Steve starts withholding their chauffeur privileges for a week per run they miss and proves that he means it, they begrudgingly go along with it.
Steve’s not mean about it. He doesn’t push them to run particularly fast or for excruciatingly long distances. As long as they keep themselves moving, he’s happy about it.
Of course even better are the few days where he’s able to convince Max to join them — usually through promised milkshakes afterwards.
She never jogs with them, instead skateboarding either behind them all or taunting them from in front. Which again — Steve’s just happy she’s out in the sun with them. And if the boys are too out of breath to try and strike up any kind of conversation with her when she’s not in the mood for it, then it’s all the better.
- -
Robin’s a special case. She is, of course, her own adult (as much as you can be at their age, anyway) and Steve loves her like no other, his Platonic Soulmate capital ‘P’. But Steve’s now finished his third round of Upside Down dealings, and he’ll be damned if he leaves her to deal with the aftermath all on her own. (Like he may have felt back in the beginning, but he doesn’t often like to acknowledge those particular feelings).
So when the Underground Bunker and Torture flavored nightmares finally start to make their appearance, Steve knows just the solution.
Much like the kids, it takes some convincing. Especially considering it’s nearly the middle of the night.
But Robin’s much more willing to indulge his jock tendencies. And once they get going, having snuck out Robin’s thankfully ground-floor window, she starts to see the benefit. Simultaneously releasing the body of its flight-or-fight adrenaline rush and helping to get them out of their heads.
She still hates the actual running part of it. Bemoans every time they come back covered in sweat (okay so mainly just Robin, Steve’s only “lightly damp” by his own words).
Yet Robin is the one to suggest moving their runs to the daytime as they slowly recover from Starcourt. Slowly able to get a proper night’s rest again.
Eventually it almost just becomes habit to quick change, grab their drinks, and go for a lap around the downtown shops if they both get off shift before the sun sets.
And if a certain unsuspecting metalhead happens to keep almost walking into signposts whenever the two of them jog past, well, Robin’s entitled to a little free entertainment. ;)

How different of a person would Ashlyn be if she had a sibling?
Would she have an older, more sociable sister who she bickered with constantly and was constantly dragged around by because her sister hoped she'd make at least one friend?
An older brother who followed in his parents' footsteps and joined the military, coming back every once in a while to show her cool things he learnt how to do?
A younger sister who tried to be just like her and learn ballet because it looked cool only to find it kinda boring and was much more interested in learning kickboxing or any of the self-defence their parents tried to teach Ashlyn?
A younger brother who was super invested in anything insect-related and liked to ramble about all the stuff he learnt to her or anyone that would listen?
How would she change as a character with an older sibling or a younger sibling?

Felix "Dude. Why are you hiding in a bush?"
Darius "I'm not—I didn't sleep, so I—I felt like walking, or something."
Felix "Yeah, cool, whatever that meant. You're blushing."
Darius "Ugh... shut up. I just happened to walk by-"
Felix "Aw. On my birthday, too. You didn't come to see me?"
Darius "You fucking hope."
Felix "Yeah... true. I haven't thought much about anything but kissing you, lately."
Darius "Y-you haven't...?"
Felix "It's almost annoying, man. Think we could work it out of my system...?"
Darius "Er... I guess we could try?"
Hugo "Hi, Darius! Um, Felix? The bus is here..."
Darius *grumble* "Great."
Felix "Uh-huh." I'd rather keep kissing him than go to school. "But we didn't miss the bus, so-"
Darius "That's your concern? We're going to be the hottest gossip!"
Felix "Eh, chill. It's not that serious. Could you tell the driver I'll only need a minute to change?"

Chronicler’s company as toa au part... Karma.
So Onepu is gonna be one of the few people decidedly not thrilled that his friend Taipu is a toa now.
Why, you ask?
Karma. Years of it, hitting all at once.
“Oh, don’t worry Turaga Whenua, I won’t be helping carve tunnels as much as I used to, but that’s okay. I know my friend Onepu can take over both our shifts when I’m gone. I’ve been doing the same for him for years, he’s a really good friend and I know he won’t mind returning the favor!” Taipu’s still smiling and doesn’t register how quiet everyone’s gotten.
Slowly, Whenua turns towards Onepu with all the slow momentum and hidden force of a tectonic plate. “Really, now? Isn’t that interesting. Toa Taipu, I think Onua wanted to see you for training today. In the meantime, Onepu and I are going to have a nice, long chat...”
