davey is the guy who’s been a dungeon master since he was 13. he owns all of the d&d books and has subscriptions to d&d beyond and homebrews incredible campaigns for his friends and makes lore for his NPCs and owns at least 30 sets of dice. d&d is his special interest and he loves using his words to create worlds beyond imagination.

jack is the guy who only starts playing d&d because his boyfriend is a dungeon master. he joins a campaign halfway through the semester and he’s way in over his head but after one 3-hour session he’s hooked. he yaps to davey about his character ideas and draws everyone’s characters because he can see them so Vividly in his head. he asks really specific questions about the settings and the maps and he loves all of the lore that davey spins. he doesn’t expect to be a nerd but by god he is and it’s all davey’s fault

Romeo: Accidentally sang over Jack during the beginning of The World will Know on opening night(mic was off thank god)

Mush: Ripped my pants jumping off a table during King of New York

Anyone tbh: Actually fell asleep during Santa Fe Prologue while pretending to be asleep, woken up by Jack yelling

Elmer: Held up my newsies banner sideways on two separate occasions during Once and For All

Crutchie: Wasn’t holding my hat tight enough and threw it all the way across the stage when I held it up in Carrying the Banner, couldn’t get it till halfway through the song

Finch: Forgot my satchel multiple times

Albert: Ate a week old dry cookie given out by the nuns, no water, had to sing in 20 seconds

Race: Danced so much my jazz boots had massive holes in them half way into the run

Off-Screen Apologies

Because i saw someone’s reblog saying we missed the opportunity to have a javey apology scene, because Davey deserved to be angry at Jack, and we deserved to see that happen between them, and also because i am possibly working on a little fic about the off-screen interaction.

(I drew just the end snippet of what would be an entire apology with much more lecturing from Davey, just as an excuse to draw boys smooching)

i hope this goes without saying but “if you see something, say something” exists within fandom spaces too. and i don’t mean outright cyber bullying.

i mean when you read something in a fic that feels off- be it a certain stereotype used, or a slur, or the erasure/changing of a character’s racial/sexual/gender/cultural identity/disability in favor of one that takes away from the content’s diversity instead of adding to it or leaving it the same.

i mean when you see art of a character and they’re very clearly much lighter in skin tone/have much more eurocentric features than the actual actor/character the art is based on, or a mobility aid they commonly use is never showcased when an artist draws them.

even if it’s not “against” you and the marginalized group you belong to. even if the creator says they put a lot of effort into their product, and you’re sure they did. look out for marginalized fans. send a kind and curious dm to a creator asking about why they chose whichever stereotype you saw. let your questioning make them question themselves so they can learn from the error. reach out. it’s not flaming or bashing fanwork- it’s protecting underrepresented fans from encountering content or creators that don’t welcome them. it opens things up for wider conversation and research and correction and continuing.
