Philip’s Witches before Wizards

            Anyone remember these ruins from Witches before Wizards? I think this town was where Caleb and Evelyn originally lived (or frequented, being closer to their home than Bonesborough).

            After all, we know these ruins are beyond Bonesborough, in a wooded area; As is Caleb and Evelyn’s archway, not too far from the Clawthorne household. During the Coven Day parade, an illusion of Belos is flanked by a cat statue, which we’ve seen only one other time…

         …As a fake resident of this very town. Which leads me to believe that Adegast didn’t entirely make up the details he was filling in; There might’ve actually been a little cat demon that Philip saw there and remembered. How fitting; Shortly after discovering the Demon Realm, Philip and Luz encounter this town, before entering a secluded area where they make a crucial choice that influences how the rest of their journey goes; Philip decides to double down on his fantasy by sacrificing his own brother to his hero complex, whereas Luz chooses not to succumb to the fantasy.

         I think Evelyn frequented this community, just as Eda visits Bonesborough frequently in the present day; And when Philip killed Caleb, she might’ve warned the people there of this murderer running around, which contributed to Philip having to skip towns. And the closest place to skedaddle was none other than Bonesborough…!

         Presumably, the Boiling Isles doesn’t have social media at this point, nor a unified government; This would make it easier for Philip to avoid consequences by simply evading the local authorities and settling in a new place, as he explains to Luz. Kind of like the older days, when information didn’t travel as easily, so you didn’t have to worry as much about news of your notoriety following you.

         At which point, Philip must’ve immediately enlisted Blue Fang for his failed expedition to the Titan’s skull, hence why the people of Bonesborough aren’t familiar with him; He’s only just arrived, and hasn’t made himself too acquainted with the local populace just yet. Red Fang and Green Fang hold a grudge over their brother’s death, but don’t seem to be aware Philip was possibly more than just callously careless.

         And we see what a clever, charismatic liar Philip is; So he would’ve brushed over any rumors of misdeeds (painting the gruff Fang brothers as bullies, with himself as a meek victim) and appealed to the rest of Bonesborough, enough for them to accept his diary as a donation to their library. Afterwards, Philip may have left; Either because his victims got together and connected the dots, and/or he had missions elsewhere. Possibly the latter, since Luz doesn’t find any articles indicating Philip was ousted as a pariah, but for all we know Belos erased some history. He might’ve figured out that Luz and Lilith were time travelers during the Deadwardian Era, and set his journal up for them to find as a result.

        But, back to the ruined town; There’s a good chance Philip remembered this place and went back to destroy it as Belos, probably as part of a staged false flag attack. A reminder of the worst day of his life, the realization that the Boiling Isles was NOT the adventure he expected or wanted... The specific place where Caleb was corrupted, where Evelyn regularly visited and lived… And by destroying this place, Philip sets up Adegast to exploit what’s left over, all for Luz to go through the same challenge there as Philip did, and emerge victorious. As for the Clawthornes, they ended up visiting what was the second-closest town, Bonesborough.

One complaint I often see about Hazbin/Helluva Boss is the lack of villains, or rather all the villains are the same. Cool concepts that end up being more childish than a Saturday morning cartoon. Well for my rewrite I try to lean into that Saturday Morning aesthetic by having a variety of villains with cool gimmicks. Not all of them are Pure Evil though, they're broken souls, but at the same time I want more villains with different motivations and themes. And yes there are unambiguously evil villains who do bad shit for the hell of it. Here's what I have so far:

We have the main villains, a circus that Evan works for early in the beginning until her transport to hell and subsequent redemption. Their goal is to overthrow the angelic hierarchy and hell royal families and turn the earth into a paradise free of pain and suffering. But in the process puts the souls and innocent humans at risk.

Balthazar: ringleader and owner of the Moonshine Carnival. He recruited teenaged runaway Evangeline Smith to steal a powerful artifact to add to his collection. Underneath the eccentric fun loving facade lies a calculating manipulator with a score to settle with heaven...and hell. Wields a Shillelagh that may have been retooled from an angelic weapon. Based on Caine from TADC

Necrobats: Acrobats who work at the circus, they're stylized like Adam's Exterminators but in bright blue&purple.

Hoohah: A clown with an assorted arsenal of tools including ropes, water guns, whips, chains... Huh? Hoohah is a talented actor who skirts thw line between comedy and melodrama. Is based on Gangle from TADC.

Mesmeralda: A snarky fortune teller with standard telekinesis and mind reading. She works for Balthazar. Based on Zooble from TADC.

Magmarock: Pyrotechnics of Balthazar's circus and muscle, he can control different types of heat including lightning, lava, and steam. Despite his might he is shown to have a suspicious side. Based on Kinger from TADC.

Chevy Duty: Monster trucker from the state of Montana, his truck is a literal monster truck. It can only be soothed through Dolly Parton. Is the only character not based on one from TADC but he is partly inspired by WWE stars.

Portia Lane: A ballerina and dancer with razor sharp shoes. Comes off as motherly and somewhat neurotic, but also fiercely loyal to Balthazar. Is based on Ragatha from TADC.

Pax: suave magician who was the closest Evan had to a friend at the circus. Tall dark and handsome, but operates with his own agenda. Specializes in illusions and light magic. Based on Jax from TADC.

There's other performers and actors such as clowns, dancers, water tricks, animal tamers etc. The main ones I describe are considered the Elites, and the most selfish and evil.

Then I have the independent villains. I haven't come up with all the names so shoot me some suggestions!

Georgina Reginald: A wealthy girl who attends the same school Evan does. While academically and socially gifted, she is also cold, cruel and belittles those she deems beneath them. Evan and Adam TP's her house. Later Georgina is given powers from a mysterious amulet and tries to take over the school.

Moore and Artie: A due of robbers who were active in the UK. While attempting a crime in France they were caught in a shootout and Artie was killed. Soon after, Moore revived his friend using an soul artifact. Augmented with new powers they continued their crime spree. Evan and Charlie fights them during a brief stay on Earth

Furie Fatale: Formerly Megara, the first wife of Hercules who was murdered along with their kids by Hera. She pleaded with Persephone and Hades to reverse their deaths but was rejected. Vowing revenge, Megara turned her sights to the Demon Overlords, and made a deal with the Overlord of Wrath to destroy Hera, anyone who worships her and the other deities who reside in the skies. She's a darker reflection of Eve and Lilith.

Dee-Kay: Originally a real estate guru Deidre Kaye who constructor who planned on building a resort which would've risked destroying a wildlife sanctuary Flora Smith volunteers. Following a freak accident involving chemicals Deidre developed the power to make plants Rot. He's Flora's main opponent.

Breezer: A demonic wind elemental, not much for personality other than that they are volatile and hired by overlords as a temp.

Carrie Sensation: Based on Carrie Nation, a self styled activist who tries to get all the bars closed. She was sent to hell for pushing her views onto everyone and her disregard for ruining people's businesses. She's Husk's main enemy.

Tidal Rage: a water demon with the ability to create hurricanes. Originally a surfer named Tina Rodriguez who cheated at competitions, eventually leading up to drowning a rival surfer. Attempts to flood the hotel out of jealousy towards Charlie.

Venjara: A worker for Valentino, she is a ninja and known shitstirrer who weaponizes the pain of others to project her own self righteous sense of justice. She's the evil counter to Vaggie.

An animal trafficker who owns creatures like the chupacabra and small dragons, selling to the highest bidder. At one point he steals Fat Nugget, prompting a manhunt.

Nightmare Imps, demonic forces who torments people in their sleep. To Abel they are merely more than pests that can be easily dealt with a spray bottle.

An elderly mobster was in a rival gang and who knows Angel Dust (before he died) and still alive, nearing 100 years old. Angel Dust pays him one last visit.

A former Exterminator named Harmonie who took things a little too far and started attacking humans under the assumption that by doing so, they wouldn't turn into Sinners. Adam and Lute was forced to retire her but she escaped and now leads a rival group called the Harpy League. She's a reflection of Adam's violent methods & disobedience. Eventually he admits he feels a tad guilty for his role in ruining her sanity.

Wright N. Rung: A former judge who was sent to hell for causing false imprisonment and executions of innocent people. He can condemn souls and is the rare ability to break contracts (for a high price that is). He's similar to Frollo and is another character who serves as a darker reflection of Adam, namely his self righteousness; and Charlie for her passivity and privilege.

Goliath: Warlord from Ancient biblical times with a score to settle with the angels, namely King David's family. He is a counter to Alastor.

Jezebel: Former queen and a biblical figure who led a genocide and was thrown off the balcony by a servant. In hell she maintained her regal status, and creates a league to overthrow heaven. She even tried to overthrow Lilith once, and sees her disappearance by attempting to persuade Lucifer to accept her as his new bride. He hates her ass lol.

I have other ideas for villains but in theory, they're meant to be darker reflections of the Main characters + my OCs and Adam. Showing what'll happen if they don't move on from their flaws

Yeah hi I was bored n thinking about this idea and also wanted to do a style study for toh, (ignore that I had to use bases for the bodies I couldn’t draw them😭 my lines where too shaky I’m not the best at tracing stuff so I cheated a tiny bit) I had originally thought of this idea ages ago in a doodle where they all went to hexide and it was more a high school au if anything but now that the show is further along I thought of a more fleshed out idea for this hypothetical au!

Technically this could count as just a regular Ahit toh au BUT I based it off of ideas and hcs in aau so yeah I’m sticking with that

Also the characters aren’t one to one with toh characters it’s more just a “how would these characters and their story translate over to toh universe” thing but most characters can be tied to a toh character as being based on/in the role of if that makes sense like I said it’s a bit of a mixing pot with the characters

Uh yeah info about the basic idea for the characters/story:

The whole story with prince and Vanessa instead of prince getting locked in a cellar to die van curses him instead, but somehow idk how yet he ends up turning the tables and splitting the curse with her. I like the idea that prince is from his respective time period as Ahit and falls through a time pool so we get the same concept of this guy is old and from a long time ago just with skipping over the death ghost part so yeah he gets sent to present Snatcher is basically the eda character he has the curse and takes elixir (which I hc is blue bc haha Ahit reference)

If it’s not obvious from her design Vanessa is the belos of this au lol Probably instead of the emperors coven it’s something like the Queen’s court? I think it’s got a neat ring? Anyway yeah uh not much to say about her she’s basically the same lol, also I like the idea she uses illusions to hide her appearance and also to manipulate mj and the citizens 👀

mj is basically a combo of s2 Lilith and Hunter! He’s a grimwalker made by Vanessa to replace prince basically he’s made to be her perfect fairy tale Prince Charming that loves her and would never ever betray her <oblivious But yeah same idea as Hunter of being made as a clone of someone else BUT they’ve got a more similar role to Lilith in which they end up befriending the main cast and living with them Also included their “golden gaurd” design not sure what to call it? Moon prince? Moon something idk lol you guys might could help with that but yeah that’s the fit they got when with van also we got blood Amy too in which Vanessa gives her curse to mj after finding his palismen (she eats them belos style ofc lol) speaking of I still need to draw the palismen but I have some cool ideas!

Dels idk what to say besides uh she lives with snatcher n we still got the qpr going ofc lol sorry I don’t got much on her 💔 though I DID consider making her a star child to go with the twilight god thing but I also considered making eclipse a star child because the design is similar plus gives an excuse for him to be here without the fusion plus I think Vanessa using eclipse sounds cool it makes sense he’s prince in canon so like ofc she’s drawn to him but yeah still thinking about that

Time twins are our luz stand in, hc timmys jacket is snatchers like luzs jacket is eras bc I think it’s cute lol dont question why he has it idk I didn’t have the time pool idea at the time and bow is kinda like the willow/gus of the group and mu is the amity? Mu being a bully at first until joining the friend group n stuff and bow being the sweet straight man to the rests antics

Drawing time twins with round ears was cursed Anyway mu is a hybrid still, She’s half witch half eberwolf species! Cooking cat and Sam get to be her bio parents here instead of adopted so that’s cool

I like the idea of the changelings/council being titan trappers? Considering they’re a cult? I think it sounds cool so maybe like shapes sneaks in with a disguise or like the trappers take them in or the trappers are basilisk in this universe? Idk considering no one in the cast is a titan it wouldnt really make sense so like maybe they are basilisk or basilisk hunters? Still chewing on the council lol sorry

Sorry I’ve been putting it off BUT curses!: basically same logic as canon they go by eda and belos logic respectively so van is a creepy skeleton cryptid ass monster and snatcher is a animal beast! BUT he’s not a bird like eda or Lilith ,and also not a snake though that would fit in being a more obvious choice, he’s ACTUALLY a ferret! Mostly bc I thought it was funny but it stuck lol they are furry and noodly so it works, plus I’m a sucker for the monster has innocent name but is actually terrifying trope lol, also idk about blood moon? They get cursed yeah but I don’t think they get transformed into anything mostly bc I have no ideas for them lol plus it’s more focused on the illusion hypnosis whatever abd not the curse itself

Anyway on to covens/magic specialties! Volunteers at the Bonesborough Orphanage, which is where they got Camilo from.

I wanted his name to be something more original. Too many people name their Lumity kids Azura. I went with Azúl because it's similar to Azura but not exactly the same, it's a Spanish name and it goes well with the character design.

Artificial pregnancy (Luz was the pregnant one).

The blue eyes are from Odalia, who's not in their life at all.

Mom and grandpa's nose.

Half-witch half-human actually results in very powerful offspring. As evidenced by the Clawthorne family. Azúl is stronger than you think.

Spends a lot of time with Uncle Gus, Aunt Em and Uncle Ed practicing his illusions. They're bad influences on him.

Is a very creative child and loves to draw, like their mamá.

Likes going to see Abu Camila on the human realm and help her at the vet clinic.

Healing magic and Illusion magic together make for a good anesthesiologist.

Mamá takes them to the human world to go trick or treating on Halloween.

Likes to play videogames with Uncles Gus and Hunter.

Wears a hat to hide their ears in the human world.

Doesn't really have any interest on the Azura books but likes it when mom reads Otabin to him.

Camilo Noceda-Blight "Milo" (He/him, 6)

Bipedal rat demon. Has a vial sac to do magic with.

They got him from the Bonesborough Orphanage when he was a baby rat. His biological parents are unknown.

Named after Abuela.

Azúl was a toddler when they got him but he was still very excited to have someone else to play with.

Milo's a very shy little guy and gets scared easily. Doesn't like initiating conversations unless he's comfortable. Azúl does a lot of the talking for him.

Does mouse noises a lot of the time. 🐭🐁🐀

Weirdly gets along well with Ghost.

Wanted to take Beast Keeping to understand creatures of the Boiling Isles a little better. Wanted to take Potions because he likes cooking.

Gets along really well with Eberwolf.

When visiting the human world, he wears a Concealer Stone that makes him look human with an illusion.

Tía Vee helps him whenever he has issues with his disguise.

Loves his adopted family a lot but is curious about his bio relatives sometimes.

One thing that i love about The Owl House is just how monsterous and scary they let the good guys look.

Here is obviously eda and lilith with their curse.(and eda harpy mode)

But what really got to me was this one scene of willow where she wraps herselfed in vines and lifted herself up so that she was looming over the bad guys. I could be remembering wrong but it even looked like they had her eyes glowing(for asthethic reasons)

There are probably more examples but yeah. There is soemthing really neat about kind, caring compassionate people....who in the right moment can look truly terrifying

And that now he’s the one being used as an example for removing the sigils once and for all. It’s so fucking full circle and I love it

First of all I Can Feel it in My Bones bc you mentioned it earlier and it caught my attention

No but fr i actually wanna know all of them!! They seem so creative

AHHH!! My bad for getting back to this now!! BUT LONG REPLY INCOMMING BECAUSE I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY!!

1.) I started writing I Can Feel It in My Bones back in 2020. I remember that, but I'd forgotten all about the document until scrolling through things. (Seemed pretty ominous to me because I literally had it titled "the owl houseeee" even though thats not what I have it called in my head). I started writing it a bit before the vampire au. Like in October of 2020.

Back during then I had an idea based on that coven day episode from season one (episode 5 iirc?). Where we see that brief little moment of that "Illusion Luz" when they're demonstrating and talking about covens, and my favorite trope of all time is soulmates. I absolutely LOVE that trope with my entire being, and I had this silly goofy idea that well... What if there's a soulmate au? BUT DIFFERENT THAN THE NORMAL METHOD. The story is basically following Amity as a kid through the years up until the show actually happens- And one night (following a separate theory I had- see below) when she hears her parents arguing and can't sleep; casts an illusion spell to help her calm down and that then puts her to sleep.

In her dream she finds someone. This girl she's never seen before. She's got round ears and is blue hued. And this girl introduces herself and is like "Didn't you read the small text beneath the spell?" and Amity's like "No??" "Whoever you see within this space is supposed to be your soulmate." So like Luz? Yk. It's that whole thing where through the years UP until Amity actually meets her, she's like "I'm never going to meet this girl-- And then once she does, she's so utterly taken aback by it that she cannot believe it and is like so flabbergasted and HOPING that she doesn't fuck things up. Not wanting to at all. Cause obviously, what the fuck?? Are there even second chances with soulmates?

Anyway, I had another theory with that, that I think I was trying to weave in. Where Amity is technically Aladors' brother's daughter. Whom died unexpectedly by a mysterious hit by the emperor because he married a human. "So, Amity's half human and she's just repeating history with Luz?" Yep haha. TO THINK THAT THEORY WAS LOW KEY SO CLOSE BECAUSE THE EMPEROR DID KILL A BROTHER... It was just his own.

2.) On Thin Ice!! This one is the figure skater au I was thinking about and kicking around in my brain. Where both of Luz's parents were competitive figure skaters. Though they retired like right before they had her and instead of Manny being dead- It's Camila.

However, Eda owns this rink that Luz always goes to and is like almost always there skating. Wanting to be the best and make her mom proud. To get to where her parents couldn't (she blames herself a little bit that they couldn't win-win). Willow and Gus are involved too to hype up the girl. Anyway, basically Amity of course came from money and rich shit- She and Luz have known each other for a LONG time. Hate each other because Luz assumes she's a brat, but like little does she know that her parents obviously disagree with her skating and pursuing a dream like that. Lilith helps her and is how I envision the first part of it going. (Luz going up to the rink with Willow and Gus to realize its closed because Lilith and Amity are skating. Eda not being there.) Fast forward, Eda and Manny are Luz's coaches and Raine of course helps them out by taking over for Eda for a while when they pursue Luz going professional. (King is their adopted child and Collector is a childhood best friend of his <3)

However, by some "mistake" Amity and Luz are forced to skate together. As a couple. Enter forced interactions and them having to begrudgingly get along. Fake the chemistry for the cameras!! Anyway, this would actually require a bit of research on my part, and a bit more planning but I'm into this "rivals to faking chemistry so people stay invested in them. To- Whoops one of them actually means it."

I forgot where I had the twins in it, but I think Hunter and Vee are in there too. I think I had Darius as Amity's other coach and somehow, we get a bit of rosegold energy in there.

3.) My Dumb Brother Got Banned (This title is so off the cuff, but I love it). Basically, it's the silly idea I had where Edric is banned from this video game/card shop/comic bookstore. Said store hosts a video game tournament every year (alongside DnD sessions every other Thursday afternoon.). For starting a fire accidently in the bathroom, and after a LOT of begging; the shop owner said they would lift it as long as she (Amity) works there for the entire summer. Masha and Willow work there with her, and Masha's avidly hosts the DnD group that plays there. Insert Luz whom one day comes in looking for a gift to Hunter for his birthday (with Vee). Somehow, we then find out Hunter attends the group sessions and Luz starts going with him because Masha asked Amity to cover late one week. I don't really know what else happens tbh other than that, but Edric wins the Melee tournament, and his ban gets lifted because he repays the damages with the bounty.

4.) Drunk Party Scrap!! This is just 800 words in my phone where Luz is at Willows party on Halloween eve. She'd gone with her best friend Amity but for some reason she forgets where she'd gone off to... But this girl in a Hecate costume is so pretty and matches her Azura costume perfectly. She wants to show Amity because the details are SO accurate to the books. She's completely flabbergasted because only her and Amity know about Azura. But where in the world did Amity go??

tldr drunk confession while not knowing that Amity is literally Hecate, but Luz thinks she's in love (because omg she's so pretty) and its stupid but yeah. Amity takes care of her unknowingly (because best friends!) and it's a mystery to Luz who this person is, but she wants to find them again when she wakes up.

Amity is just scared to reveal it because she doesn't wanna fuck things up but has been in love with Luz for years. Horrible synopsis but yeah. I was writing it on a break randomly. I didn't really know what to do with it.

5.) Stupid For You!! Ahh. The apartment neighbor's au that no one asked for!! So, like Amity moves out with the help of the twins that then transpires days after into her almost being knocked over by this big dog that'd charged right from his owner into her. He's friendly but damn, she was JUST trying to read outside because it was nice out. She hears this girl yell and sees her, and the girl apologizes then explains that "King just loves new people" Basically, they live across from one another on the bottom floor, and when one day Amity is about to go to work, she realizes that her toilet valve breaks, and water is ALL over the floor. but...Luz is also the maintenance worker for the complex. (Cue slight embarrassment) Ghost likes her so at least that's a good thing. Anyway, they start hanging out from time to time and coming over for dinner or to watch a movie (she noted that Amity was a Azura fan) and it's just a small friends to lovers' thing?? Also, Luz breaks her leg midway through, and Eda's the property owner. Hunter works with Luz too as the other maintenance worker for when one of them aren't working. AND Amity has a vinyl collection. I don't know ahh I thought of it when Timeless by Taylor Swift got released. Was just going to be a little self-indulgent thing.

Anyway I've been talking for WAY too long lol so ahh I hope that made semi sense?? You can ask about any of the others too idm dw. I know I ramble WAY too much but it's so fun to talk about the ideas.

Also the toilet breaking right before work is a personal experience and it was NOT a good discovery LMAO, but yeah, I'd thought it would be silly to insert it into a fic.

what would the cast's favorite mtg color combinations be?

Well, that's certainly a question.

I admit I haven't played MTG in years, but I do have an interest in the lore and philosophy, so I can try to offer my own personal takes on the color pie in an attempt to answer all this.

Here's the MTG Wiki page on the subject, but for simplicity's sake, you can think of it as:

WHITE: The Greater Good

BLUE: Love of knowledge

BLACK: 'Fuck you, got mine'

RED: insert Braveheart 'FREEDOOOOOOOOOM' meme here.

GREEN: Nature and stuff

I'm also gonna try to keep this with Ravnica's two color combo's, as opposed to like, three color Alara shard's or four color Nephalim identities. Mainly to save myself the headache of thinking of all the different ways the combos can go. To that end, some of these arguments may work better from an aesthetics of the Guilds, but I’ll try to make the arguments also work best with the color’s philosophies.

So, without further ado...

LUZ NOCEDA: IZZET (BLUE-RED)

While the idea of Luz being assosciated with White due to her name and first spell are right there, and she does care about her friends, Luz's more defining characteristics I would argue are A) her nerdieness and love for learning, and B) her love of self expression. As such, a girl like her would fit right in with the guild most likely to make her explode.

Other Izzet members include Alador Blight, mainly for the mad scientist aesthetic, and potentially time skip Amity.

EDA CLAWTHORNE: GRUUL (RED-GREEN)

Eda being Red is the most obvious thing in the world, but being Green I can see being debatable. However, I would argue that while Eda may not like any sort of 'natural order,' her use of Wild Magic and Palismen calls back to a less, for lack of a better term, restricted time. She rebels against the Coven system, and wants to use whatever magic she wishes, which is in keeping with the ideals of Green, which believes that one should live in harmony with nature, as opposed to controling it like with the Emperor's Coven system.

LILITH CLAWTHORNE: AZORIUS (WHITE-BLUE)

Lilith is a surprisingly frustrating woman to come up with a proper color pairing for. On one hand, Blue is fairly obvious, given her own intelligence. On the other hand, the trick is figuring out her second color. She has a lot of elements of both Black and White. While tricky, I ended up siding more with the White-Blue Azorius, less because I feel Lilith matches them in terms of evil bureaucracy, and more because I feel the ending emphasizes how she attempts to share knowledge with the Bonesburough community through the Library. Though I do think Dimir colors work for Lilith pre-redemption.

WILLOW PARK: SELESNYA (GREEN-WHITE)

This one's a fairly straightforward pick: Willow's love of nature and use of Plant Magic fits with Green, while her desire to protect her friends and put their needs above her own works well with White's desires to protect society at the expense of the individual.

THE ARCHIVISTS: DIMIR (BLACK-BLUE)

So I’ve seen how the Dimir present themselves as… well, literal archivists to hide their true evils, so there’s point number one in my favor. But also, I feel the Archivists kinda work well in the Black-Blue color combo: Their selfishness in using a child to destroy an entire race, mixed with their roles as observers of the universe, a very Blue thing to be I feel. Admittedly The Collector themselves doesn’t really fit into the latter bit as much, but I do think the species as a whole works here.

Other Dimir members include pre-redemption Lilith, reasons mentioned in her section, and Gus, due to the Dimirs focus on illusions and powerful secrets (the Galderstones).

BELOS: ORZHOV (WHITE- BLACK)

Do I even have to explain this one? Religious con artist in the guild built to represent just that? It’s too perfect.

Other Orzhov members include Odalia Blight and Tibbles, who both lost out due to their last of religious connections to strengthen the White theme.

HUNTER: BOROS (RED-WHITE)

While this choice might feel like it only fits pre-redemption Hunter, I think Hunter could be seen as a consistently Boros flavored character, albeit in different ways. In season 2A-‘Hollow Mind,’ his commitment to the EC and his role as one of their top soldiers fits the aesthetic trappings of the Boros well. However, after his redemption, I think he better reflects both Red and White as color philosophies: his journey of self expression and self acceptance mixed with his commitment to protecting his friends fits well with this color pairing, even if he loses the aesthetic of the guild itself.

VINEY: SIMIC (GREEN-BLUE)

A Simic role took a surprisingly long time to decide on, because aesthetically combining monsters or controlling evolution isn’t actually something I can think any TOH character does. But when I thought about color pie philosophies, I think Viney matches it to a tee. Her Beastkeeping Coven membership implies a Green respect for nature, while her love of knowledge, risking her own safety to learn multiple types of magic, clearly ties in with Blue’s love for knowledge.

Other potential Simic members may include Ed Blight, potentially? Vee would NOT BE Simic, mainly because she would probably be one of the things the Simic experimented on and that feels… wrong.

BOSCHA: GOLGARI (BLACK-GREEN)

At first, I was planning to say something about how ‘Well, she’s like the opposite of Willow, but she’s also obsessed with Willow, so she has the opposite color of Willow.’ But in actuality, I think, aside from the lack of any necromatic aesthetics, Boscha fits the Black-Green idea’s well. Her obsessiveness, selfishness, and cruelty are certainly Black, but she also has a sort of ‘Strong eat the weak’ mentality with her bullying, which fits well with Green’s more villainous impulses, like with the Green Phyrexians of Mirrodin/New Phyrexia.

Post-Collectors game of tag Belos fits Golgari aesthetically, but still fits Orzhov better I think.

THE COLLECTOR: RAKDOS (RED-BLACK)

Rakdos was a weird one to consider. I started thinking of the Bard Coven members, given Rakdos’s entertainment aspect, but neither Raine or Skara really fit the selfish and/or power hungry aspects. And then I tried to think of characters who might fit, but it was still tough to think of any who were both self expressive and selfish. That is, until I realized a fun little fact: Red-Black is the most childish of the color combos. Children are incredibly self expressive, incredibly free, and also incredibly selfish, often not understanding empathy because of their lack of experience. And honestly, the Collector fits that to a tee. Admittedly he’s less selfish and childish by the end, but he still has a long way to go, which is why he leaves the Isles in the first place.

Witches before Wizards, what elements of it we see throughout the show and what it might tell us about its end.

Witches before Wizards is quite an interesting episode in retrospect, it set up several things like Luz having to earn her staff herself (and Eda helping her to gain one someday), pushing the fails idea of Luz being the only human on the isles and Eda spelling out a core aspect of several characters development journeys with telling Luz that one has to choose themselfe. 

There have however been other recurring aspects of the episode throughout the entire show, some plot points, some imagery, some aspects we see in other characters that play similar roles. And most importantly, there are several parts of the episode that haven’t yet happened which might give us an idea of what Watching and Dreaming might entail. 

So let me start with laying out the things we have already seen throughout the show. 

In Sense and Insensitivity (S1 Ep11) both Lilith and Eda get their hands on a map (one of many) from the same person (in Witches before Wizards Eda finds it in the collapsed castle of Adegast) which is supposed to lead the quest goer to a “treasure”, at the end of the quest it however turns out that this was a scam all along to kill whoever fell for it (while in WbW it was to kill Eda specifically). 

Seven episodes later in  Agony of a Witch (S1 Ep18) Luz gets captured so that Eda can get lured into a trap. Eda flies into what she  knows to be a trap and demands her students freedom.

The big similarities in season two start with us seeing Luz set out on a quest. In both Witches before Wizards as in Elsewhere and Elsewhen, the idea for it is set into her head by a bearded older man who uses compliments to lure Luz into a sense of safety as they journey together (in this case the puppeteer controls all of the people Luz travels with), it turns out at the end however that this was only a trap and that he had been manipulating her the entire time. 

Luz says at 5:35 in WbW that she might have a “predetermined path (of greatness)” and at 16:25 she says that she “came here for a reason”. At the end of Elsewhere and Elsewhen it turns out to the viewer and in Hollow Mind to Luz that there was indeed a predetermined path waiting for her on the Isles. As she teaches Philip the light glyph and helps him find the Collectors mirror in the titans skull, this helping Philip to build his empire and the near extinction of wild magic with the day of unit. 

It turns out in both WbW and E&E that the kind bearded man that set Luz onto her quest was an act all along to lure her to do his bidding, in both cases Luz is simply a puppet in someone else's game to get revenge on someone else (this is only revealed to Luz in Hollow Mind). 

While Luz has traveled more than once into a forest, in Thanks to Them she and Hunter travel into one to find the Titans blood they need to create a portal back to the isles, in both cases, the titans blood and celestial staff, are on a small island in the middle of a small lake a bridge appears in WbW and Luz creates on in TtT, this small island is also the place the final fight of the episode takes place. It turns out that the people/person Luz traveled there with have been puppeteered as to lure her into a trap, in both cases her friends come just in time to save her.    

In For the Future as in Witches before Wizards we see collapsed and ruined towns that had been beautiful illusions, throughout a  puppeteer uses a variety of  puppets to play out a fantasy, in both episodes King is held hostage by the puppeteer (while not for the same reason King is indeed still a hostage of the Collector even though his opinion of them seems to be somewhat positive).  

At the end of WbW Luz, Eda and King are looking over the Titan together and see a blue shooting star pass over its head, this blue star imagery comes up constantly again in For the Future. The big wave (alongside shooting stars) the Collector sends out directly over the Titans head in the beginning of the episode is in similar blue colors, the spies he sends out over the isles share a similar dark blue. He and King are shown to fly over the isles on top of a blue shooting star and Belso is shown in the trailer for Watching and Dreaming to hold a blue star (potentially representing how the Collector is once again a puppet in his game). While this alone is not enough I do think the fact that the Collector was entrapped inside the titans skull (well his mirror) and the first time we see a blue shooting star appear in the show is indeed of significance and might not just be coincidence. 

Both Adegast and the Collector are associated with imagery of the stars and moon (this is especially important considering before we even meet Adegast we see the moon and stars hanging from his castles ceiling (at 7:13)), while King only calls Adegast outfit jima jams (at 7:34) the Collector seems to actually be dressed in some type of pajamas. While Adegast is only a puppet the Collector as mentioned above is also a puppet in Beloses game, a game where both puppeteers' end goal is revenge.  

Let me now go over Watching and Dreaming, what is similar in the trailer and what could happen in the final.

While some of these mentioned examples might be more flimsy or even coincidental I do believe there to be deliberate connections especially the ones with Philip and E&E and also the ones with the Collector and the shooting star seem to fit way too well for them to just be coincidentes. So what does the rest of the episode have in it that might still appear in Watching and Dreaming? What might we see in the final and what of this is just connecting dots that really aren't there?      

We see in the trailer for Watching and Dreaming that Luz, Eda and King have been put into a dream-like world (illusion) by the Collector (which happens because the real puppeteer (Belos) is controlling him). This is similar to how Adegast is the one to set Luz into another illusion at the end of the episode but is actually just a puppet hanging off one of the  actual Puppeteers' many tentacles.

While we can only guess, through the way it is presented it seems that Luz wakes up in this dream like reflection of the isles, making it hard to tell if it might be reality or a dream, while mainly used as a way to recap in WbW Luz wakes up after a small montage of the first episode wondering if she is dreaming or if it’s real. Considering the places we see in the trailer the Collector seems to let them relieve some of their memories or at least similar memories. 

One of the first scenes of WbW is Eda not remembering Luz, of course here it is played as a gag but considering the shot of Eda and King in the trailer it might seem that Luz first has to remember her family who she is considering the Collector has dressed her up as Belos.  

Another thing we have seen already in the trailer is (presumably) the Collector using Eda and King to attack Luz and potential also Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter to attack her, the way the Puppeteer uses the puppets Luz has been traveling and formed bonds with to attack her, Eda and King at the end of WbW. 

At WbWs end Luz was put into another illusion. We see her breaking out of it to save her friends, because even though she was offered to live out her fantasy she realized that reality is, while harder, more important than any ideal an illusion could offer. While Luz and King have already learned this lesson throughout their journeys in the show we see the Collector play out fantasies throughout FtF and are shown several times that he does not seem to really understand what kind of consequences their way of play would have on the inhabitants he plays with. While our main trio is the one that has to break out of an illusion, I think we might see the Collector learning the same lesson Luz and King had to already. That reality is more important and has more worth than any fales illusionary world could ever have. 

Early in WbW Adegast mentions that the chosen one will have to defeat an ancient evil and as we learned in FtF the Collectors (and with that our Collector) do fit that description quite well. They travel from planet to planet and archive who and what they want and if they do not get their way they scorch everything, they are even the reason why the Titans are near extinct. Defeating the Collector (note; this does not necessarily mean killing them) would indeed mean the defeat of an ancient evil, this especially after Luz has just gotten her staff the way the Celestial staff would have made her the chosen one to defeat the ancient evil in the fake prophecy. 

During WbWs final fight Luz first defeats Adegast before she is able to defeat the Puppeteer. This to me implies that Luz and Co. need to first defeat the Collector before she can finally defeat Belos, ending the real Puppeteers shared once and for all. 

An eager Luz says at (5:48) that she is going to earn the respect of everyone on the isles with her magic, considering that she, Eda and King are most likely going to be the ones to take care of both the Collector and Belos and considering that Luz has earned her staff and grown significantly as a witch over the show this comment of hers might actually come true by the end of her story. 

As mentioned earlier Luz, Eda and King are watching over the isles at the end of WbW (same in the season two ending credits) and I believe we are going to see a similar shot at the end of WaD, one where their little family is looking over the restored isles together, maybe even seeing the Collector off as he travels back into the sea of stars.

The Owl House: Best/Worst Case AU Part 2

Amity soon arrives outside the Emperor's throne room. She stops for a second to take a deep breath and then pushes the door open to go inside.

The room was exactly as she recalled it looking from pictures Lilith had shown her when she was a kid. It was almost completely empty except for Belos sitting on his throne, looking at her testily from behind his mask.

Belos: Ms Blight. Good of you to FINALLY join me.

Despite the bile and anger swirling in her gut, Amity bowed on one knee before him.

Amity: I'm sorry Lord Belos. I....was taking care of some extra work for you and overslept. It won't happen again.

Belos: I'd hope not. Since you seem to be so focused on your duties, can I assume you and the rest of the coven are closer to catching the rogue demon?

Amity looks up at him in confusion.

Amity: Rogue demon?

Belos: Yes. The one I ORDERED you to capture for me. The one thats evaded our capture for years now. He used to be the Owl Ladies little pet.

Amity gasped and whispered "King....". Then, quickly recovered and bowed her head again.

Amity: Uh, no, sir. I'm sorry. I don't believe we are.

Belos slowly rose up and came over to Amity. She tried not to let on her panic, hoping he wouldn't notice the fear on her face, or sweat dripping off of her and simply assume it was from fear of failing him.

Once he was right in front of her, he gripped the bottom of her face. She froze in fear......and he gently lifted her face to look up into the dark eyeholes of his mask.

Belos: It is the Titan's will that that demon be brought in as soon as possible miss Blight. You and your team have had nothing but failures when it comes to catching him. And I KNOW you know what becomes of failures. Or did you forget what happened to your predecessor?

Amity gulps nervously.

Amity: N-no sir....

Belos: Good.

He let go of her face.

Belos: Bring that rogue demon to me. And do NOT fail this time. Or there will be severe.....PUNISHMENT.

He held up his hand and sparks of red lightning shot out around the room for a few seconds, one narrowly missing Amity.

Belos: Do I make myself clear?

Amity nods just a bit too quickly.

Amity: Yes lord Belos!

Belos; Good. You're Dismissed.

Amity left the throne as quickly as she could, running through the halls until she was as far from it as possible. Once she'd felt she was a good enough distance away, she leaned against a wall, trying to catch her breath.

Amity: Okay.....okay.....need to....figure out....what's going on......

After taking a few more breaths, Amity turned to leave....and smacked hard into someone.

Amity: GAH!

???: Sorry!

Amity: It's fine, I-

But once she'd blinked away the stars in her eyes, Amity then sees who she'd run into: Gus, wearing a blue suit and looking nervously at her.

Amity: Gus?

Gus: I'm so sorry, Miss Blight! I didn't mean to bump into you! It was an accident, I swear!

Amity: Gus, it's okay. Really.

Gus looked at her in shock, as if her actually apologizing to him was the most insane thing in the world.

Gus: Oh. Okay....uh, it's actually Agustus, ma'am.

Amity: Agustus? Why-? Whatever. What are you doing here?

Gus: Just came to get some coven head work done. Finish some paperwork, meet new recruits. That kind of thing.

Amity: Coven head?

Gus: Yes. I'm the head of the illusionist coven, remember?

Amity: Head of the-? Wait, illusions! That's it! Gus, do you think you'd be able to tell me if I was under any kind of illusion right now?

Gus: Of course I could. But why-?

Amity: Just do it!

Gus: Okay! Okay!

He makes a spell circle and a wave of blue light runs up and down Amity's body for a few seconds.

Gus: Nope. You're clean.

Amity groans and sinks to her knees, exhaustively covering her face with her hands.

Gus: Uh....is everything okay?

Amity: No! I have no idea what's going on! Just last night I had and argument with Luz and the next thing i know, I wake up here!

Gus: Luz? Who's Luz?

Amity: Luz. Our human friend?

Gus gasps in delight.

Gus: A HUMAN?!

He winces and looks around fearfully before turning back to her and speaking more softly.

Gus: A human? You know a human?

Amity: Of course I do! And so do you! She's my girlfriend! Your friend! We went to Hexside together!

Gus: Trust me, if I'd went to school with a human, I'd remeber it! Oh, I'd have SO many questions to ask them. Like where a hot dog comes from or what makes a smartphone so smart....

Amity:......You.....you don't know Luz?

Gus: No. Why? Should I?

Amity's blood turns cold.

Amity: Oh no.....oh no, no, NO!

She quickly turns around and starts running.

Gus: Wait, where are you going?!

Amity: To find Luz!

Gus: But, where?

Amity: At the one place I KNOW she'd be!

Amity races out of the palace and flies away on her staff until she finally arrives....at the Owl House.

But the minute she sees it, her fear only grows.

The whole building is dilapidated and abandoned. The walls were grey and rotten, covered in mold. The grass in the area had overgrown wildly to the point it was even on the roof and in the windowsills. The door was even torn off it's hinges and Hooty wasn't in his doorhole.

Amity: Oh no......

okay so i am just going to talk about what happens vaguely in every episode. i am so sorry in advance

ep 1: luz sets sail on a ship of pirates to go on a bounty hunt to try and make some extra money for eda because she feels bad about her losing her powers

ep 2: luz willow and gus get expelled from their school by amity's parents because they think that amity having them as friends is distracting her from her school work. so luz goes to the blight's house in order to try and convince amity's mom odalia to let her and her friends back in. odalia agrees, but she will only do it if luz agrees to be the tester for some of odalia's abomination robot machine things at this convention she's hosting later that night. it's pretty dangerous and then amity shows up and saves luz.

ep 3: luz hooty and lilith (who lives at the owl house now after leaving the emperor's coven) go and check out the place that eda found king when he was just a little guy. i honestly don't remember much about this episode but yeah

ep 4: we meet eda's stupid bitch ass mother fucking mom when she just shows up at the owl house out of the mother fucking blue like the bitch that she is and she tries all these stupid ass ways to get rid of eda's curse. and also we meet eda's super chill dad who she hasn't spoken to in a while because back when eda first got her curse she accidentally attacked him and left him blind in one eye and she's felt really guilty about it since.

ep 5: okay so gus meets this cool group of kids from another magical highschool and he tries to impress them by pretending he can do all sorts of magic with the help of luz's glyphs. so the group of kids all take him to this place called the looking glass ruins in order to steal these stone things that would make them hella powerful. they find out about how gus can only do illusion magic and they are super rude to him. gus realizes that stealing the stones is unethical as hell and is like "fuck this shit you guys suck eat my ass" and then scares them all away with some spooky ass illusions. the other part of this episode is about how luz and amity to into this sort of forbidden part of the library amity works at in order to find the diary of the only other human who has lived on the boiling iles before, philip wittebane, so that luz can try to figure out a way to make a portal back home. they find the diary but luz yells really loudly after finding a mouse inside who ate the page of the book. they get caught and amity is fired. luz feels bad and does a bunch of tasks and stuff to get amity her job back. amity goes through her slay era and decides to dye her hair purple. luz lets amity know that she has her job back and find the stupid ass mouse from earlier followed her from the library. amity explains that it's an echo mouse, which is a species of mice that can replay the information of whatever book it ate, so it's all good now because luz takes it home and can now get info about philip's diary from it. but before she goes home amity kisses her on the cheek and then panics and leaves.

ep 6: okay so at school everyone gets to pick out their palismen, which is the magical animals on top of witch's staffs, like how eda's palismen is owlbert. everyone gets one except luz because the way you bond with a palismen is to share what you want to do in life or something like that and luz is like "idk man im from the human realm so will i even have a future with magic??" and so later that night she sneaks out to visit the palismen who are being kept at hexside and she decides that she won't leave until she figures out what she wants to do in life and she gets her palismen. but while she's doing that, the enclosure of palismen with her inside gets stolen by the golden guard. the golden guard is emperor belos's nephew who leads missions and stuff. he always wears this gold owl shaped mask so we never see his face. we've met him earlier on in season 2 but he hasn't had much screen time until now. so luz and him get into a fight and then the flying thing that the golden guard was using to take the palismen crashes after being attacked by this weird dragon thing. after waking up, this cute little red bird palismen follows her from the wreckage. luz then finds the golden guard on the ground after the crash, his mask has fallen off to reveal that he's just some scrawny kid around the same age as luz, and later it's revealed that his name is hunter. which may i say is a stupid ass name but okay whatever. luz overheards kikimora, this annoying ass bitch who also works for the emperor but fucking hates hunter because she wants to be the emperor's right hand man but she can't because that's what hunter is, talk about how she sent the weird ass dragon to take down the ship in order to beat hunter to the palismen to gain the favour of belos (the emperor). luz wakes up hunter to let him know what tf is going on and they form a truce to get back the palismen that kikimora took in order to give to belos because that's how he maintains his forms for goofy reasons. they agree to form a truce because neither of them want kikimora's bitch ass to win. blah blah fight scenes whatever. luz ges the palismen back to the school and the cute little red bird palismen goes with hunter and becomes his palismen. he names him flapjack and he's cute as hell.

Two hours passed since I watched the TOH season 2 finale. There was a lot to take in. The fandom is probably discussing season 3 but season 2 only now became available in my country and that's why I'm only talking about it now.

Here are my thoughts about TOH season 2 in no particular order:

I strive for a friendship like the kind Lilith and Hooty have

Showing that the Golden Guard acts like a teenager is the best they could have done after revealing that he is a teenager

Speaking of Hunter: It was so great to see him in a team

And caring about Flapjack. What a duo

I love the filter they used on the voice with the diaries

When Hooty ate the letter I got soo mad

I really wanted to punch our favourite tube demon in that moment

But only in that moment because he does care about his residents

I wish we learned more about Gus. I want to learn more about him

His despair when the illusions kick in

Calling himself dumb because "ge should have known" even though he was supposed to be the smart guy

Why do some witches have these magic "boosts"? Gus' eyes turn blue and he is in an illusion. Willow's eyes turn green and ranks appear out of the ground. Why is that? Will we get an explanation to this? It only happened with a specific type of magic

I knew Belos was Phillip when he said he was in the human realm and then proceeded to talk about how nice it is there. Added with the diary entry of Phillip talking about the reflections of the lake, my beliefs only grew stronger

RAINE! RAINE WHISPERS! I like them so much. They don't really seem like a rebel because of their stage freight but they nail it.

Raine's Rhapsody. Eda's Requiem. That... That episode did something to me emotionally. Like someone poked at my heart.

I am more invested in adult characters in cartoons if they are established well. So Raines is an awesome addition

Raine and Eda are star-crossed lovers. I don't know how often I said it while watching the series. They are. They are so beautiful. They care so much about each other.

Raine introduced Eda to Apple Blood, her favourite drink

Raine and Eda met each other but they alread had such a strong bond that they decided to attack a coven head and they didn't even have to say it.

Raine wanted to keep Eda safe. And Eda just ignores the suspicious stuff Luz says if Luz mentions Raine

I'll talk about Raine again

It's so refreshing to see a cartoon family where noone is abusive or absent but it's not completely perfect, not by far.

I am speaking of the Clawthorne family

Her mom didn't disown her, she wants to help but didn't realise that she was causing more harm than helping

Lilith in that episode was me. Lilith, I understand you. Oldest child struggles with being overlooked because you are "self-sufficient" (which you only are because you had to be)

I cried when Gwendolyn apologised to Lilith. That was really nice to see. I rewatched that scene three times and it did help

Eda's dad doesn't hate her

Eda blames herself for the attack

I like how that one was revealed. In a dream of a past memory

Hunter starting to dig a grave because he failed. He did what we all want to do in these moments. And he is still joking.

I was confused when Darius was nice to Hunter because he finally made friends. I was confused because I saw Darius as that bad guy because he captured Raine.

That he is against the Emperor as well makes much more sense

It took me way too long to realise that those skulls the Titan Trappers wear are just masks

This found family in this show

Eda being vulnerable after always being represented as this snarky clever witch. She cares about her loved ones. She didn't fight Lilith to get into some stupid coven, she sees Luz and King as her children

She regrets not accepting help

Flapjack flying to Hunter was such a nice moment. Hunter believed genuinely that the Emperor was great by giving him magic, letting him keep all magic, gaving him clothes and food and one day off a year

Belos gave Hunter a way to do magic

But Flapjack was his

Birds represent freedom and Flapjack was the first step in freeing himself from Belos

So nice to learn that Eda carved Owlbert with her dad and now she wants to carve a Palismen with Luz

Hunter is a nerd (affirmative)

I like how Amity stopped her dad of giving her a hug. You don't need to forgive someone everything just because they are family

I like how Alador changed sides and wants to get to know his kids. It took way too long tho. But Odalia is suffocating. No weekend of in five years?! Come on. That's going to lead to a divorce

I also like how they give backstories even to small characters. Lile Edric.

Also those cloaking stones are so smart

The Story of Castor Windchime!

I know no one is going to care about this, but I finally got Castor’s backstory done! From his childhood at Hexside, to the morning of A Lying Witch and a Warden! I’m gonna start outlining a full longfic after I get done with chapter 3 of my Raeda fic (which I should also outline, now that I think about it). The fic itself will carry off from this which I’m thinking of turning into a prologue chapter. Then maybe I’ll make a prologue spin off, who knows?

Our story begins at Hexside, many years ago…

Meet Castor Windchime! A student in the Illusions track, he is best friends with Eda, Lilith, and later, Raine. Castor always had a love and knack for storytelling since he was little, retelling to his parents the little adventures he would make up in his head. But to him, just telling a story wasn’t enough, which is why he found an interest in illusions and a curiosity for bard magic, both types of magic giving him the ability to get people immersed in his tales. Now Castor wouldn’t really call his life all too interesting, having a pretty standard life. Studying at home, getting good grades, even going to a couple after school writing clubs. But that doesn’t mean everything was good, Castor didn’t have much of a social life, only really having a few acquaintances in class and a burning hatred for Odalia, not unlike most students. Most days, he and a bunch of other people in the Illusions track were all looked down and picked on for their choice of magic. If anything, the distaste of illusion magic was worse in these days compared to Gus’s time. Most of the time though, Castor was alone. That is, until he met the Clawthornes.

Castor and Eda met one day when he was randomly picked to be her assistant in a prank. Much like everyone else in school, Castor commonly experienced and witnessed the pranks and schemes of this troublemaker who had made one hell of a name for herself. There were a lot of times he would see ginger hair and a yellow school uniform pass by somewhere in a blur. Eda’s latest idea required some illusions in order to work and judging by his light blue uniform, Eda felt Castor would be perfect for the job. He accepted, albeit reluctantly, not entirely sure if this was a good idea or if it would be worth it. Long story short, he had some of the most fun he ever had in his life while also getting along really well with Eda. The wild witch called him to action again a week later, introduced him to Lilith, and soon set the standard for how things would be for these three from here on out. Fast forward a month and suddenly they were all sitting at the same table during lunch, hanging out after school, and being study buddies in some cases. Castor finally had great people he could call friends. He could get used to this.

A few years later, around 7 months before the curse, the trio had been best friends for a long while, Castor and Eda having teamed up for over 300 pranks by now, oftentimes info dumping on each other about thing likes Grudgby or wild magic. Castor and Lilith were also really close, being a pair of history nerds who would commonly study together, with Castor always cheering on the sisters during Grudgby games. This is what normally happened each day, a fun time for all, until after Eda almost got expelled. Castor was the first to hear of Eda’s day at HECK and thus the first person to hear about her new friend, Raine Whispers. With a want to learn bard magic, Castor was ecstatic when he was told of Raine’s bard status, hoping to get some tips on the magic he’d been practicing and was really excited to meet them sometime. But what neither of them expected was for Raine to appear at their lunch table the very next day.

It wasn’t long before Castor and Lilith began to notice some sparks flying between the bard and wild witch. Lilith didn’t think much of it at first, but after a bit of convincing from Castor, she had to admit, they were quite cute together. Castor thought it was adorable, wanting nothing but happiness for the two if they did one day get together, but it did hurt quite a bit, too. You see, Castor had been holding onto some feelings of his own for the last couple of years. He started crushing on Eda only a few months into their relationship, but never let anyone else know that out of fear of making it weird, if he got rejected that is. From his point of view, that was more than likely. He wasn’t jealous per se of her and Raine being close, but rather kind of mad at himself for not telling her sooner. Nonetheless, he and Lilith would sometimes talk about Raeda’s pining (ship name coined by Lilith herself), with Darius often joining in. Eda and Raine’s crush on each other wasn’t lost on anyone but them, which led to Darius commonly getting annoyed by their pining.

In terms of their friendship, Castor and Raine were like two peas in a pod, not unlike him, Eda, and Lilith. The two had a lot of experience working together during Eda’s pranks when they got a bit more complex than before, and Castor’s skills in bard magic were getting better with Raine's teaching and guidance. Overall, Castor thought they were a sweet, cool kid. He could relate to them as well, what with both of them getting looked down upon for their choice of magic. He loved hanging out with them and Eda, he was as happy as can be. He thought nothing could mess this up. But then he started getting an all too familiar feeling. He was…crushing on someone else? To his surprise, he was. And it wasn’t just anyone, it was Raine. Yet, he was still crushing on Eda. Crap, he had a crush on both of them. This was not good. He found that his heart would flutter when around either of them. No no no, he couldn’t be crushing on two of his best friends!

Castor panicked for weeks over this, even ranting to Lilith in their hideout about not wanting to ruin the friendship. He felt that if he got rejected by either of them, especially now that Raeda was finally together (much to his joy), then hanging out with them would feel too weird for comfort, which is exactly what he wanted to avoid. When he eventually came to terms with it, the situation sounded much worse out loud. Unfortunately, he would forget one day that he would be taking a couple more lessons with Raine who would be bringing Eda along with, which led to all of his feelings being overheard by the two as Castor vented to Lilith again. As much as he didn’t want to do it, it was too late, and he awkwardly confessed to them right then and there. Just as he feared, things got a bit weird between the trio for a couple weeks afterward, but he didn’t outright get rejected, thankfully, they all just needed some time to figure out their feelings for each other.

Then one day, they all met up at the hideout, ready to talk. Eda went first, revealing that she too had a crush on Castor, said crush only coming back after his confession. Raine went next, their feelings for him having begun only weeks after meeting him, a full 2 months before Castor said a word. The illusionist himself went last, revealing the details of his feelings, before getting out a much better confession, silently praying to the Titan he wouldn’t get rejected, at least not badly. He awaited an answer, getting caught completely by surprise when the two witches standing before him grabbed both of his hands and gave him a warm, but awkward smile, a silent declaration that yes, they accept and are all willing to give the relationship a shot. Admittedly, Castor really couldn’t stop the dorky smile that appeared on his face at that moment.

Fast forward 2 and a half to three months later, things couldn’t be better. Castraeda (also coined by Lilith) are hopelessly in love with each other (already past the wonderful first kiss!), Faust had retired and made Bump the principal, Raine was top student in their bard classes, and tryouts for the Emperor’s Coven were just a week away. Oh right…Coven Tryouts. Eda’s curse was really taking a toll on her since that day. The day everything went wrong. Everyone was there for her. Her parents, Raine and Castor, even Darius and Bump. Raine and Castor were there at tryouts when it first happened, Castor having to hold Raine back from rushing in to save Eda before they got hurt by everything being thrown by the audience. Everyone did their part in helping Eda through it the first couple of months before she dropped out.

When she did, the whole school heard about it in no time, mostly due to the lack of pranks, traps, and her usual chaos. Some were thrilled, others missed her, others thought they’d be happy about it only for school to feel too quiet or calm without the air being accompanied by her chaotic laughing. Darius missed her, but would never actually admit it. Her lovers, on the other hand, were heartbroken. Sure, they’d see her after school and hang out, provided the curse wasn’t acting up, but school days just didn’t feel the same. They tried to come up with their own chaos, but it proved difficult without Eda, who was always the mastermind behind their plans. Both Clawthorne sisters were gone, with Lilith going through rigorous training and was probably a scout by now, and that left only Spellcastor and his darling Songbird. Even his palisman Munchkin, an orange mouse that he carved with Eda and Del a couple years before, was missing their talks with Owlbert.

Because of it all, Castraeda made the best of the following summer, having a blast to make up for some lost time. It even led to the discovery of their hill when Eda saw it in the distance once. They kept going back up there, marking it as the trio’s signature spot for dates and days on the town. Even years later, the three could remember the beauty of that hilltop almost exactly. The field of snapdragon flowers, the calm, crisp breeze, the wonderful view of town, the music they made echoing through the air and being carried by the wind. Sometimes, Castor swears he could hear the music, when there was nothing there. They even spent Eda’s birthday up there, giving her the mandolin that she would play for years to come, Raine already giving her lessons. Multiple escapes to the human realm took place, too, after Eda told them both about the portal.

Castor, Raine, Darius, and their acquaintances spent a few more years at Hexside before graduating, in which a few split up to pursue their dreams. Darius went into the Abomination Coven, Perry went on to become the BI’s top reporter, and Alador and Odalia formed Blight Industries. The polycule on the other hand didn’t really have any plans to jump into their futures just yet, instead opting to take things slow. Eda eventually began to restore her father’s old tower and move into the Owl House, Raine started picking up a few gigs around the isles and making a name for themself, and Castor took up making a few short stories that became fairly popular, but nothing too big to make him a household name. He stopped after a few years. They set off to do what they wanted to do, but weren’t in the market to do anything major for the time being.

Some years passed, about 11 or 12 years after they started dating, and Eda was beginning to act a bit strange. Castraeda’s love for one another kept growing by the day, but now Eda was growing distant. Skipping over some of the more painful bits (you know exactly what’s coming), things got rocky and Raine knew they had to end it with Eda. Castor on the other hand, was not willing to go through with it, loving them and Eda way too much to do it. Castor stayed behind at his home, not ready for it to end, as their favorite spot became plagued by the memory of the day Raine broke it off with Eda and joined the Bard Coven. Castor and Raine tried to make it work together, but with Raine joining the Coven, it was difficult to do so. Sadly, they both knew it was inevitable and split, leaving only Castor and Eda.

After Raine and Castor bid their adieu’s, Castor rushed over to the Owl House to comfort Eda, even staying there for over a week to keep her company and help around the house. It reminded them both of the many times the trio would help take care of each other when one of them was sick. You should know how this ends. As much as neither of them wanted to do it, with their futures in being wild witches entirely uncertain, it was time they separated as well, especially with both of them needing time and space to themselves to recover from losing Raine. Their goodbyes were long and hard, but they did make one promise to each other: That they were going to stay friends and keep in contact, making sure to call or say hi whenever either of them needed. Castor was determined to keep this promise, but a small part of him knew it wasn’t going to last long, as the trio officially went their separate ways.

10 years went by. And in that time, everyone’s lives changed. Raine was climbing up the ranks of the Bard Coven, Eda became the famous Owl Lady and public enemy number 1, and Castor became a well known supplier of potions and ingredients, delivering them all around the isles with the help of Munchkin. As you can imagine though, things weren’t all fine and dandy. The Emperor’s Coven was onto him, slowly figuring out his wild ways. Before long, his home was attacked and raided while he was out making deliveries. He made quick work of salvaging what he could, packing whatever he had left, and booked it for the Owl House, the one place he knew he could hide, at least for a while. That night was…weird, to say the least. Hooty was happy to see him again, Eda was overjoyed, but what really caught Castor’s attention was whatever the heck was napping on Eda’s couch.

Eda told him the whole story, apparently she adopted this King of Demons when she found him abandoned on an island a few years ago, and called him her roommate. King was weird around him at first, but gradually got used to his presence as Castor tried to work out what to do. It was actually Eda who suggested he move in, finding it pointless that he had already spent two weeks there and was still attempting to find a place to stay. He had all he needed right there at the Owl House. Plus, she could use some extra hands with King. Within a couple days, Castor set up his own space in the one extra room and was declared as Eda’s second roommate. Were things going to get weird with their romantic past? Absolutely. Were they ever going to address it? Nope. They were gonna stay strictly friends until they felt the time was right.

5 years passed, things were largely the same. King had gotten bigger, Lilith kept pestering Eda about joining the EC, Eda and Castor worked the human collectibles stand, and things were well. That is, until…

“And this…this’ll make good kindling.” “Excuse me, sorry, that’s mine, thank you!” Was that…a human?

3. Fold it in half 3 times, folding inwards, towards yourself. As you do so, focus on drawing your intention towards you with each fold.

Rather than burning the petition paper, you could keep it in a box on your altar or in your BOS and destroy it during the Dark Moon, or you can Bury it, or put it in your compost if you have one. Get creative and tinker around til you find your preferred method. It's your path, your choice.

The waning phase begins after the Full Moon; it is the Moon transitioning from the Mother to the Crone. During this time, the Moon's energy is decreasing and minimizing in momentum; use this time to cast the following type of spells~~

~~Decrease debt or poverty

~~Repel something away from you

~~Banish dull, negative energy

~~Remove blockages and obstacles

~~Release and healing

The Moon is waning up to the new phase, at which point its light starts to increase.
