7. Is there something that could cause your oc to question their identity? What?
An excellent question! Hmmm, how to best answer this...
Xaja -- thought she was straight for years, then got hit on by a couple of women on Carrick and realized she liked it. She still tends toward men, but she can definitely appreciate women as partners -- she's openly bisexual. As far as her gender identity goes, she's pretty solidly a cis woman -- I'm not sure what would get her to consider another identity! She's a bit of a tomboy, but is definitely in touch with her feminine side.
Korin -- I don't know that he's ever questioned being a cis male, but he's definitely been down for sexual experimentation since he was a teenager with a vivid imagination and an insatiable curiosity. He found out pretty quick that he's bisexual. He did not like the situations where he had to try and embrace his feminine side though -- he appreciates and admires women, but definitely does not consider himself to be one.
Sorand -- He's had the most questions, I think! Gender-wise, he's mostly male with a bit of a squiggle. He self-identifies as male, but I think he's had some questions, since he's more in-tune with traditionally feminine things, like sporting long hair and being more soft-spoken and diplomatic. Sexuality, I assumed he was straight when I rolled him up 10 years ago -- when the idea of flirting back with Shara's original writer felt super squicky, I wondered if he was gay and so far in the closet he's in space!Narnia. But, the idea of flirting with a guy felt super wrong with him too -- so, he's ace! I think he's pretty comfortable with that identity now.
Reanden -- Honestly, I'm still not sure about him. He's definitely a cis male, that's never been in question! I think he's played around with his identity over the course of his career with the SIS and Imperial/Sith Intelligence, but he's come out of that pretty confident he's a straight man. Could he be swayed over for the right guy? Probably. But is he very content being married to Mairen and not inclined to look anywhere else? Definitely.
Erica, like she does every year for pride, posts a collage of pictures of her queer friends and family. This includes a picture of her and Tina, picture of her and Steve (and Eddie half cut out of the shot), a picture of Nancy and Robin, a picture of Steve, Nancy, Max, Mike, and El repping bi colors at a pride parade, and a picture of her and Lucas.
okay unironically I love so much that porter is like this world SUCKS its BAD here and it HURTS you why do you care abt it!!! and literally every single bad kid is like ngl we just hate ur ass it does not matter what ur philosophy is
yall I just had to read and see more “Gale is the token straight” “I can’t see Gale as anything but straight” type of posts and I am BEGGING this fandom and Gale fans in particular to DO BETTER and even if you romance him as a female character to SPEAK UP and AGAINST this type of bi/panphobic bullshit, because why is this still happening? It’s because heteronormativity for this character in particular is only empowering these kinds of people to say these kind of things and now make entire blogs dedicated to “debunking the all characters are pansexual” despite LARIAN SAYING ITS CANON
yes I’m angry and upset. As a gay male Galemancer I’m so sick of this constantly happening in this part of the fandom, I’m sick of having to keep making posts like this. I want to just forget about real life shit and “have fun” like all the people who can happily romance him as a lady and not have to get and see this kind of bullshit do. I’ve seriously been on the verge of leaving this fandom several times, if yall truly care about this being a fun and inclusive space I am begging yall to really speak out against shit like this when you see it, don’t tolerate bi/panphobic people and also help to boost more queer representations of Gale, maybe even do some of your own, etc. Let’s PLEASE not turn into a Dragon Age fandom 2.0
The real struggle of being cishet on this site is I see a bunch of content that is not catered to me in some ways (e.g. my dash is full of so many lesbians and trans girls 24/7 LMAO). The next logical thought is "well why don't you just follow more blogs that DO cater to you?"
Except these blogs and mutuals are so vivacious and talented and funny and teach me so many things about the world and the human experience
I love them!!! I am standing in a corner with two thumbs up as you guys make out
Feel however you want to feel about the OFMD S2 finale but DO NOT make claims about a "straight white man" ruining the show. The writers room was mostly queer POC. Don't erase their skill, hard work, and representative voices just because you're upset. Show some respect.
