on another note, i still can’t tell who leshy is talking to. i know at face value that seems arbitrary, but if leshy is trying to disguise his knowledge of luke, such emotion is unnecessary. maybe he’s genuinely upset? while it isn’t confirmed, kaycee’s mod seems to take place after luke died, and leshy does talk to the player by saying ‘ you ‘ as well, but does he mean our protag in the cabin, or us?

it’s obvious he knows that there’s someone out there—it’s not that i’m questioning—it’s only the question of why so much emotion? who does he think is playing kaycee’s mod?

( addendum: the reason for my questioning is because kaycee’s mod isn’t in luke’s recording and doesn’t have his voicing. i know when it was created, i’ve played through the entirety of it and have read each dev log, and i know about kaycee’s fate. maybe he isn’t there because of oversight or just simply something to do with the in real creation of inscryption. maybe i’m looking too much into that fact? and, i suppose concerning placement, kaycee’s mod is only available after we finish luke’s story and his exploration of inscryption. by that standpoint, it would be impossible for him to play it, but i know that fact itself probably doesn’t amount to anything and is more of a factor of replayable to inscryption and act one introduced while adding some lore. )

i’m unsure myself. since there’s the arg aspect of it, and the actual arg component itself, are we technically apart of inscryption? i don’t know. i’m finally getting around to collecting the endgame dialogue in act one. hopefully it’ll be up soon?

Today, finally, after more delay than I'd have liked (but the reasons for it were understandable and I support them), I brought his ashes home. They're sitting up on his desk, in front of his computer. It seemed logical, considering how very much of his time he spent up there working (among other things) on his Tumblr posts. (And his queue is still unspooling.)

I miss him so much... but that's never going to change. My job now is to make sure that he's not forgotten, by getting his books into print into more than one or two languages: a project that's going to take a while, but which I welcome.

Meanwhile, thanks again to all of you who've sent your support via Ko-Fi and other methods. You're all in my heart every day: along with

Nobody has suffered at the hands of pokemon fans more than nice rivals in 3d games. Seriously nobody gave a shit about nice rivals until XY the worst I've heard is that helping Wally catch his ralts takes too long and May/Brendan's starter never fully evolves. They were both nice. Barry, lucas/dawn, Bianca, cheren, N, and Hugh were all nice. Silver and Blue were literally the only really actually mean rivals until Gladion. What about Shauna made people start frothing at the mouth. Everybody needs to apologize to Trace right now he wasn't even a replacement for Blue like Blue was in that game doing his own damn thing. And the audacity of some people to beg for mean rivals back and then treat Carmine the way they do. The nostalgia poisoning in the pokemon fandom is making people hallucinate.

We talk a lot in this fandom about what legacy will be left behind by Kaz and Inej and this is a very valid conversation to be having, and a very interesting one at that, but maybe I’m just not looking in the right places but I find a considerable lack of talking about this with the other crows and I think it’s so important that we consider the legacies that stand to be left behind by Wylan, Nina, and Jesper not only because each of the living crows ends up in unique positions where they could stand to make genuinely large scale change, but also because one of the largest parts of Matthias’ tragic arc is that he will not leave a legacy behind, that he didn’t get to make the change he intended to, that there is no-one left but the crows to remember who he really was, that he will be actively erased from history by Brum, that without him there’s no one left to remember his dead family and we as the reader don’t even know their names. The rest of the crows have to leave something behind because Matthias couldn’t. And all of them know it.

Okay maybe this is a known thing and I’m just spouting nonsense or both Idek it’s half one in the morning and I was meant to be getting an early night but YOU GUYS I was just listening to my Soc audiobook and in chapter 18 when Kaz is remembering the coffee shop and the Hertzoon scam we learn that the first trade major trade Jordie and Kaz were privy to and I’m pretty sure Jordie put a little money into was A CHANGE IN THE SUGAR MARKET.

And of all the things Kaz might have been able to manipulate the market for to try and profit off Van Eck’s destruction at the start of crooked kingdom HE CHOSE SUGAR.

The failure of the Sweet Reef job doesn’t only represent, to Kaz, the foolishness at being hoodwinked by Rollins again that he describes as causing such anger within himself whilst at the Van Eck house but also LITERALLY REFLECTS AND PROBABLY SERVES AS A CLEAR CUT REMINDER OF THE HERTZOON SCAM. We know Kaz is a pretty big on poetic justice (see Fillip and the wind up dogs torture/murder, stealing from the bank that was involved in the scam, the use of Alby against Rollins, etc) and I can’t help but wonder if that’s what this was intended to be in his mind, but there’s also the possibility that this wasn’t an active decision he made and only occurred to him afterwards when he saw Rollins and had that strange “sense of doubling” and saw both situations and both failures so clearly reflected and
