My mandatory two weeks off comes to an end today and I am horrifyingly and tragically back in the office tomorrow, but I also just bought a digital sewing pattern so I'm looking forward to making use of the good quality office printers to print it all out. Seeing the silver lining is a vital life skill and baby I am an expert at it
#ramblings of a bystander#the pattern itself is 51 A4 pages asdfghjkl#but to be fair some of those will be basically blank#either cause they have some part of the pattern for a different size (which i can toggle off for print)#or just generally because that's how the conversion to A4 from A0 went. alas I don't have cheap access to paper or printer that large#and there's 19 pages of instructions which.... well sure i can print those off too why not. helpful not to have to pause to read a screen#and can highlight and make notes#but with 70 pages total to print off..... i'm gonna space it out a bit. just a couple of pages per day...#not in a rush to actually start sewing since I'd still need to get the fabric and lining and other bits and bobs#i've got other things i can work on in the meantime. but we are initialising!!!#soon enough i will be crying in frustration at sewing the sleeves!!!

got reminded of it ... but i think about the symbolism of jax' model a lot bc i think its subtle!!! but its there
and i think the crux of it is that jax' model is very much a prey animal, something that contradicts his general tendency for reckless, mean bullshit. there could be something there about him having front-facing eyes too. and iirc gooseworx said the farm was a lie which i do take into account but also i think it helps w his generally very 'natural' or real-world-nature design components and ideas being evoked. he has clothes and these clothes are very minimal and hes a real animal fairly closely associated with farming or hunting and is very humanlike and his pocket just Has Mulch in it. even if the farm isnt real theres definitely something his design is evoking here
that and an idea ive thought of is that rabbits are VERY much animals that operate on instinct. they do a lot of things based on an immediate need, typically for survival, at least in the wild. and i dont know if id describe jax as fearful (some could argue he is in his own way, which i dont disagree with, but i think the implications can be a bit loaded- but theres many ways a person can be fearful) but he definitely operates on what he immediately wants. he wants to have fun. so he DOES. it doesnt matter what that entails. he wants control, so he takes it out on the others. it doesnt matter what that entails. etc etc. hes also running from something and i think the image of a rabbit fits that well
i think its deliberate that jax is the only design that actually revolves around an animal that we see. theres dobby and that worm on a string in the back but of the main cast its ALL humans or items, jax is the only one whos an animal (and probably still intended to be toy-like, but none of the others have distinct animals theyre meant to be). and it feels purposeful in a way i genuinely think about a lot. i cant place what its implying for certain because i genuinely dont think we have enough information on jax to fully understand his thought processes, but it does make him very connected to the real world, but in a distant way
#tadc#why not it can go in the tag#also i think everyone and their mom has pointed out the deliberate allusion to cartoon rabbits#which i think helps to highlight his nature as like... a similar 'trickster' sort of character#add into that my idea that each of the cast members is like. idk if deconstruction is the right word?#but something of that sort but for cartoon character archetypes#jax being the sly 'cool' guy prone to slapstick and mischief#he highlights how much that kinda person would actually SUCK as a real person#but thats a diff analysis for another time#noting it as another concept for a hypothetical video essay LOL#circus discussion#im getting a better sense of a new schedule so hopefully i can be a bit more active#also i still need to make my color theory for this show... blues and greens man....#i need to figure out what purple and pinks are for#hm.... zooble and jax as the only one with pinks in there design#plus zooble never having consistent colors other than pink and yellow... hmm#sorry im getting off track LOL#i think many characters on this show are rife for analysis and discussion... and jax is very#hes not my favorite character (thatd be pomni which anyone whos seen me could tell HAHA)#but i think hes one of the most fun to discuss/analyze. he has a lot going on and a lot of it is more abstract than the other characters#given the lack of information we have on him so far#i think its deliberate hes like. one of the most frequently evoked characters by the show. if that sentence makes actual sense#point is that i think other charatcers are super important plot wise or development wise etc etc#but jax feels more important symbolically. hes most important to themes in the show#makes sense with him being the exception to so many things being established...#which i appreciate the show doing. its a very bold move and im excited to see how hes handled down the line

#anyone wants to talk about spinel and amethio and their parallels#anyway the exact same people i'm referring to are gibeon and friede#something about spinel's fixation and need for acknowledgment (to a certain extent)#(and only from gibeon on the second one because i'm not sure i can categorize his fascination for friede as a need for acknowledgment?)#(it's something a bit different which needs specific words. i need to think more about it. i'm still processing their exchange in ep 86 w)#anyway. something about it. which highlights his similarities to amethio.#and makes spinel come off as really desperate. perhaps as much as amethio was in the early chapters#they are in each other's positions now#amethio is sure of himself and asserted his own path out of his own volition#while spinel's need for recognition and validation was stressed and highlighted at the end of chapter 4#something about that need? going unfulfilled and unaddressed which makes it take great proportions#and everyone gets caught up in it. it's so good i love it#i have more thoughts about this but.#character notes

Are there any storyboarding apps that are good and not super expensive or subscription based
#Chatterbomb#I used notability and really liked it but then it wanted me to pay for a subscription#I liked the select few pens (pencil pen and highlighter) and the duplicate function was pretty simple! I liked that I could add an mp3 to#Listen to the audio while boarding and that I could scroll through the pages#I think I would like if the eraser could be more selective with what it erased (like just the pencil or highlighter or pen)#I didn’t like how the quality dropped in transport to a pdf#But notability would’ve been good if it didn’t have a usage limit!! If it was just a one time purchase I’d reconsider but it’s bullshit to#Make a note taking software subscription based!!#I didn’t want to use procreate because it feels too professional to just scribble the ideas down#it also doesn’t have as nice of page layout and it doesn’t select strokes. Which is fine for an art program but I’m looking for something m#Probably more vector based. So the quality isn’t at risk I guess? #her boss wanted her to take it “day by day” about the wildfire situation and coming into work#despite the fact that shes perfectly able to work from home#and the fact that its a 45 min drive to her work#and fire and rescue telling us that they can give us a half an hour heads up if we need to evacuate#like dude get a grip#she didnt even ask for time off work#she asked for Home office#even threathened smth along the lines of “HO is a privilege”#bruh we are in active danger zone#in contrast: i wrote my boss about the “stuck in the UK bc of wildfires” and her reaction was#child wtf are you talking about. take time off. safety comes first work can wait. tell coworkers they have yo expect a delay#and would you look at that#as soon as you involve hr things are suddenly no longer a problem who wouldve thought#love watching her go all wide eyed and “oh i am so sorry was this not what you said? my bad tehe” while quoting exactly what he said back#at him. in the form of attaching the relevant email. or screenshot of the team's conversation#he tried doing things by call to leave less of a papertrail and she started writing notes afterwards that she send him to “confirm”#that they were on the same page#he tried conplaining once that she didnt need to make such a drama out of nothing and why she didnt come directly to him#and she just forwarded him a copy of their code of conduct highlighted where it says#“if boss unavailable here are the next instances that you have to let know”#and asked him all innocent “oh i am so sorry did i misremember smth? can you point out to me how i should react next time in this situation?#wales wildfires#<- think i will use that tag for now about this whole stuff. if you want to block it

just a few little bits from the past few days
#both the word count screenshots are from the same day - just different sections of the text. so that was like 4000 words in#one DAY.. huzzah!! (< making up for the fact that I did 0 words the 3 days before that lol.. so its not actually an accomplishment ghjjh)#In renpy I think you can have multiple separate texty cody whatever documents and still jump between them so long as they;re#labeled properly. Rather than like... having one extremely long 60.000 line file where in some places youre in a menu within a menu#within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu jhbhj#But that was the way I started doing it lke 5 years ago when I actually made the base of everything so I feel like it'd be too much#work to change it all that dramatically now. But that means I cant just get the word count for the whole document I just have#to jump around to the few sections I worked on and highlight them to get the word count for only that portion#.. the one tiny fraction of the whole monster text wall. i'm about 7 pages into the sketch phase for 6 and this expression is drew for smallpaw keeps making me giggle when i come back to it
#if ur curious about my process i do a quick sketch of the events i want to cover and basic dialogue so i get the timing and flow#then i go back and finish up each page individually so each page gets lots of love#i want to be sure that every page i draw can be someone's favourite :)#also side note i adore smallpaw he is really a highlight of this comic for me#i don't dislike any of my characters to be clear! but some of them spark my imagination a lot more than others i admit#still i try to make sure everyone gets something cool about them :)#max moment

think when im back home im gonna set up my own standard hair color textures so i can just make hairs without worrying about that too much. not gonna work for every single hair idea im sure but having my own system in place should make it easier when i start getting in the weeds
#plus theres a couple colors id like to add to the palette#like a proper purple#and a 2nd green#at the very least.#but i also wanna make an ombre/roots/split color system#that ideally would be compatible with other ones (or at least the racoonium overlays which i use in my game)#so that the colors/texture match up properly for my base colors but also so you dont NEED other cc to do those things#but i know its annoying as fuck to download a bunch of overlays for EVERY hair so i dont wanna do that i wanna just get a standard system#from the start.#but ideally once i have a whole base texture set up ill just be able to get up and go#like i hate doing that part lmao#simoleon#note to self: add a highlights/streaks overlay too#to easily add grey hairs to any hair color#or green strands. or pink or brown.#i would primarily use it for greys i can say that much lol

shoutout to my new ereader now im actually going to be able to annotate my text of angels!!
#chaos.txt#still figuring out an analysis style#it lets you tag notes which is AWESOME. such a game changer#so im doing one of the highlight colours as character notes with tags for individual characters#and then the other 3 highlight colours are themes : love movement and .. something else#queerness maybe. sgjfkfj. that makes sense#just mangled guts pretending. aaah#and then there's 4 colours of underlining!!! which is so awesome#i might do one colour be like. my favourite quotes#and then the others can be like. essay prep or something#i would love to write an essay on this actually ... oh i should. i so should#see if i still have my spark. i was oh so proud of that. i haven't written an essay in months
