Music To My Ears
Five x Talkative Wife
Note: Okay, so I've had this idea for a long time, basically a HC of what it would be like if Five (when he comes back to 2019) brings along his wife who is also his partner from the commission- who is super talkative, especially when she's nervous.

The first time he had seen Y/N, he simply wanted to kill her. Not only did she give away his hiding spot from the enemy but she would not STOP TALKING.
"Hi! I'm Y/N, I don't really have a last name, but it's an honour to meet you Mr.Five Sir. You're a lege-"
"Shhh!"
"It's alright they won't hear us!"
"Woman, please I don't need a partner, especially not one as annoying as Klaus!"
"Whose Klaus?"
"Tch no one-"
"HEY THEY'RE OVER THERE"
"SHIT"
And on that same mission Five got shot in the leg, which she kept apologising for over and over again, until he had to verbally say 'IT'S FINE PLEASE, JUST STOP TALKING I NEED TO THINK!'
Slowly, verrry slowly, she began to grow on him, killing wasn't his most favourite part of the job, and everytime she began talking nonsense he could tell she wasn't a fan of it either.
It didn't take him long to figure out that she would ramble on for hours a day when she was scared, nervous or just tired, especially on gruesome missions.
Yes, she would not stop talking even when she was drained. At one point he wondered if Delores thought he spoke a lot too. Until she ended up changing the topic of conversation around 5 times in 1 hour- no, this lady was a crackhead.
It was almost a year in their partnership and the Handler was pleased with their work. For Five was already a legend, he learnt that other than the useless chatter, the girl was a great assassin- quick, slick and brutal.
On one occasion, when Five was cornered and exhausted, he thought he was toast, almost ready to give up. He heard, "NOONE CORNERS MY PARTNER!" And gun shots.
They were all shot in the head
"Execution style?"
"Actually, I was super mad at you when you told me to stay at the motel because I'm very annoying and noisy. Like I get I can't be Delores but please I am my own person! I don't need to be someone else for you to accept me and hey! I am a great assassin by the way! Sure I talk a lot but before your rude a** came along I was running the show punk and-"
"Thank you Y/N, you saved my life today."
And that leaves her speechless, a whole year of knowing him, he had never thanked her, let alone ever spoken to her softly.
He smiles at her and hobbled to the car muttering a , 'You don't have to be Delores, you're better of as you.'
And that was the first mistake the boy made, because after that he began to notice more things about her that he liked.
The way she would ever so politely talk to people. How she was able to get intel by being nice- instead of using the interrogation methods he used.
More than often things would flow smoothly if she would do the talking.
3 years in and he wakes up one night, to get water and realises that she's not on the other bed. So he checks the washroom and she isn't their too.
Grabbing a bathrobe he goes out to the motel parking and finds her sitting on a bench, the cold night breeze tossing her hair around as she grips onto her cup- tea he presumes.
So, like any sane person he decides to give her some privacy, until he hears her sniff.
He goes and sits beside her and is just:
'Wanna talk?"
"No"
"NO?!?!?"
And she shakes her head, so he doesn't encourage her to speak, instead sits their quietly beside her, letting her cry silently.
An hour later he realises her head is on his shoulder and she mutters,
"When you go back, will you leave me?"
"I don't know..."
"Can I come with you?"
"You? But, I'm no fun nor a party goer, darlin' . I'll probably end up being an a** to you-"
"Would an a** have sat with me in the middle of a chilly night outside, letting me cry?"
And for once in his life Five had no answer. The resident genius had no clue to why her words had brought a sensation of tightness around his chest, why he felt her words cut through him. Was he actually going to leave her? If there was anyone (after Delores) who understood him, or rather had the balls to stand up to him, it was her. Yet, he had never realised how vulnerable she was on the inside.
That night ignites a fire within him, because 2 months later, on a mission in Hawaii, where the two are standing in a field of dead bodies he turns to her. All bloody and messy,
"Hey!"
"yes?"
"NOW GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER, YOU GOT IT?"
Utterly confused, she nods at the weirdo who looked like he was about to explode.
"MARRY ME?"
"Sure."
"I SAID A STRAIGHT ANSWER NOT A LONG EXPLANATION YOU - wait what?"
"I said, yes, Five Hargreeves, I'd like to spend whatever days I have left with an a** like you."
Cue the most abrupt and small wedding and exchanging of vows. Not that it mattered to either of them, because as soon as their 'secret wedding' was over, they were sent on another mission.
Naturally, she was rambling along the entire way,
"I really thought we could have cake though, but I guess we did have to keep it low key, oh speaking of low-key, I booked us a fancy couple's room I had been saving money for
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"
"What's with the face"
"You know~"
"Okay, I officially married Klaus."
"but, but, but you love me either way~"
"Seems to be so, now please stay quiet, we're entering their base and the last thing I want is to lose my wife on the second day of my marriage."
"WAIT WHAT"
"SHHH!"
Give or take many years later, the couple in their fifties is staring at the blue portal. Holding hands, both nervous, one quiet while the other...
"THIS BETTER WORK FIVE, I BETTER NOT END UP BEING TELEPORTED TO THE 1500's I AM TELLING YOU! WAIT! I DONT EVEN KNOW THE NAMES OF YOUR SIBLINGS, OTHER THAN VANYA AND KLAUS -"
"SILENCE WOMAN, ON THE COUNT OF THREE WE JUMP. 1 ...2-"
"3 I WIN"
And she pulls him into the portal as he yells at her.
The two end up on the ground with a loud thud.
Getting up he pulls her up and is just staring at her, up and down.
"Really Five, not a good time to be checking me out- wait why are you a child"
"shit."
"does anyone see a little number Five with ...a random girl?"
Without responding he drags her into the kitchen, the siblings following in right after. Watching him make her sit on a chair at the end of the table while he is preparing something.
Slowly they start interrogating him.
"It's been 22 years Number Five, where have you been?'
"It's been a lot longer than that."
"What happened to you?"
He places a sandwich infront of her and starts to devour his own.
"What do you think happened? I decided to test the limits of my time jumping, see how far I could go. Turns out, pretty far."
"Then how did you get back?"
By now, Y/N is visibly shaking in her chair, too nervous to even eat, staring up at Five who seems to be having a a not to pleasant conversation with his siblings.
Before responding to Allison he turns to look at her,his features softening, something ALL the siblings notice, "It's okay..." He whispers to her, "Eat."
"By projecting our consciousness backwards into a suspended quantum state version of us that exists in every possible instance of time."
"That makes no sense."
"It would if you were smarter."
"Granted, it did take me a little time to work out all the nuts and bolts of it."
Five notices that she's still not eating and he frowns only to glare at his siblings, "Stop staring at her you're freaking her out."
"US? YOU BROUGHT A RANDOM KID HERE FIVE"
"Random kid?" She slams down her sandwich. As Five smirks, 'well, at least she's better now'.
"I AM NO RANDOM KID, IM HIS WIFE. And by the way HE ISNT CRAZY- other than THIS MAN IN A NICE SKIRT I DONT SEE ANYONE WHO ONCE ASKED HIM HOW HE WAS? OR IF HE WAS OKAY? OR IF HE WAS ALONE!"
"Oh? danke- WAIT WIFE? Five DID U KIDNAP HER @?!"
"No, we're in our fifties."
"WHAT"
"Yes, now well that's established, Five we should really hurry up. Also, why don't any of you look similar? Didn't your dad die today? Wait, are you all here for a funeral - you guys have been fighting ever since you showed up huh? Not a lot of love I see, no wonder my husband's a little crackhead too. By the way, why are you so big? Oh- *turns to Vanya* you're the lady from the book, nice book by the way, family tea is the best, not that I'd know, I have no recollection of mine-" with that she got up and randomly walked out of the kitchen, a nervous wreck, something only Five could see.
"Five is she insane?"
"Ofcourse not you big ape."
They could still hear her go on about something from the other side of the house to which Diego frowned, "She talks a lot."
Five just grabbed his sandwich, walking out of the room, with a
"It's music to my ears."

Hi!! Your writing is so good. I love it so much!!! Can i request a Five x female reader? Where the reader is smug and direct about her feelings? Thank you!! 🫶🫶🫶
Hi Hi! First, thank you for appreciating my work ❤️❤️
I tried my best to deliver and I apologize in advance if anything deviated from the proposal. I used Five from last season because his personality in these last few episodes is my favorite. Again, thanks for the request and i hope u like!

What do you feel?
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x F!Reader
Warnings: fluffff, some things are a little out of canon, F!Reader is also someone with powers. She can feel others' feelings and make others feel hers through touch.
Tumblr media
You still remembered the first time Five crossed your eyes at Temps Comisson. The neat jacket, the formal shorts and the almost arrogant posture for just a kid. At first, you hated him.
"A new friend for you." the manager introduced you to him and the two of you barely bothered to shake hands.
"Great, a newbie." Five replied, without much patience.
"I already have my suitcase, I don't need this new one." the cynicism in your tone was clear to both of them. When you saw the manager looking at you impatiently, you turned to him. "Let's follow the rules: don't get in my way, don't meddle in my choices and please don't expect me to save you if you're standing in the grave."
"I could say the same." Five replied, extending his hand to you. "Deal."
And a few years later, here you were. Cooped up in the family of what you could call your best friend, attending a wedding taking place under the lights of the end of the world.
"What do you think, huh? Apocalyptic weddings." Five whispered as the bride and groom entered.
"First I need to find someone who can handle it." your answer came out almost automatically and you just watched Five deny it, with a smile on his lips.
The ceremony was quick, totally the opposite of dinner. The two of you chose to sit at a table alone, taking in your surroundings. The happy couples, Ali and Viktor fighting, Ben being disturbed by Klaus.
"Can you feel what they think from here?" Five asked, filling his glass.
"Sex, sex." you pointed to Luther and Diego with their respective spouses. "Guilt and grudge." you pointed at Viktor and then Allison. "And suicide." Finally, you pointed at Ben. "Look, I don't even need to go there and touch them."
"Sometimes I forget." He pointed to your hands covered in gloves. "And you, how do you feel about the world ending?"
"Relief, I guess." You lied, seeing him nod.
You both watched Klaus approach, in silence. Brother Hargreeves tried to convince them to listen to Sir Reginald, but it was in vain. You understood his hope, in trying to somehow rescue his father's good image and no matter how much he denied it, you could feel that Five wanted to be able to have that kind of hope too.
"I still don't believe him." Five said in a low tone, despite having alcohol in his blood, he still needed to remain alert.
"Me either." you imitated him, moving closer to him. The two of your heads were practically glued together as the two of you talked. "It's a shame to see Klaus so… wait a minute."
Sir Reginald's presence was present there, frightening everyone. It wasn't the spiteful version that you heard Five talk about over the years, but there was something that didn't fit there, you could feel it.
The man gave a brief speech, with a huge poem and it was clear from the looks of those around that the situation was stranger than you could imagine. Perhaps with the intention of breaking the ice hovering in the air, as soon as Hargreeves left the microphone, the dance floor was filled with music and colored lights.
"The old man is actually good at it." Five pondered, taking your attention.
"I don't know, something is wrong. He's always alert, he won't let me touch him." you responded immediately, watching him think for a few seconds.
"Any ideas what we can do?"
"I don't know if you got the memo, but we're about to die. " you turned away from Five to grab your glass. In a cynical gesture, you took your glass towards his glass, improvising a toast. "Here's to the old man's minutes of sanity."
"How can you be so frank?" He seemed indignant, drawing a laugh from your lips. "You're worse than me."
"Ah, dear Five. Try to feel what everyone else feels for a day. All the anger, all the fear. Your own feelings become a burden to you." your words silenced him, leaving space for him to just nod and for you to return to contemplating the speeches.
"I'm glad the world is ending." he stood up, extending his hand to you while his other hand held the bottle of champagne you shared. "Screw other people's feelings."
"Yeah, screw it." You accepted and stood up.
Five led you to the dance floor and even though the music was more upbeat and the dance floor was full of his brothers, he still spun you around a few times, in a kind of disconcerted waltz.
Five soon let go of you and climbed up to where the DJ table was, taking the microphone from the strange man. Without speech or prior notice, Five began to sing. The lyrics weren't the happiest of all, much less the melody, but they were familiar to you. You remembered singing it a few times in Five's presence and saying how much it reminded you of your father, who had been away from you for years.
"Would you accompany me?" your eyes moved away from Five's to Klaus, who proposed a dance. You could notice his suspicious look as he led you away.
"You like him, don't you?" Klaus asked and you just nodded, there was no point in hiding it anymore. "Well, you still have some time until the world ends."
"And if it doesn't end, what do I do next?"
"What do you mean it doesn't end?" Klaus asked, stopping turning you around. "Will you accept Dad's plan?"
"No, no, that's not it. I've seen Five end apocalypses before, I think something inside me hopes he can fix this one too. Maybe it's just the grief speaking inside me."
"Yeah, maybe."
Klaus turned you around once again and let you go, leaving you alone for just a few seconds.
"Let's get out of here?" Five's voice materialized behind you. "I need fresh air."
Before you could respond, he held your hand and led you away. It only took a few minutes for the two of you to be alone, watching the orange sky from the building's terrace.
"Can I ask you something?" You sat next to him, keeping little distance. Before you could ask, he held out the bottle of champagne he hadn't put down yet.
"Technically you already asked."
"Stop being an idiot." your shoulders collided with his. "That's it, right? I think we finally don't have the solution."
"I can almost believe you're scared." this time, you didn't deny it, you just looked away. "You know you don't need to talk, right?"
"I know, but it's frustrating. Running after saving the world all this time and not being able to. I'd rather die, I don't know, run over by a car, with an anvil falling on my head. But an apocalypse?" you laughed and watched Five do what you had done many times when you couldn't use your voice to talk. He took one of your hands and took off the glove, allowing himself to touch your skin.
"I can feel you." he replied, in a low tone. "You are afraid."
Five preferred to omit everything else he felt when he touched your skin. Fear, anguish, anxiety, love. The last one weighed on his mind, but he knew you and knew you would come out as soon as he felt comfortable. In a way, he knew that when he touched you, you would also be aware of his feelings.
"The only people who aren't scared are those who aren't paying attention."
"I think we need to drink more, to forget about this." even after just a few minutes of sitting, Five pulled you to your feet. "And this dress suits you, it's a waste to stay here while the party is going on downstairs."
Again, he dragged you downstairs, where the celebration was taking place. Whiskey, vodka, beer, everything that still contains a quantity of alcohol became part of your menu and at the end of the party, you found yourself sitting at the counter, Five standing a few meters away, tasting two different drinks. Maybe that would be the last time the two of you would party.
"Five?" you interrupted him, making him place the two bottles on the floor. "I don't want to die with regrets."
"Elucidate me on that."
"Even though The Handler always made it clear that I was too much for you, I like you." A sob caused by alcohol interrupted your train of thought. "I like it and I know that maybe I'm a little too much for your arrogance. You're also a little too much for me." You laughed, seeing him approach. "I think after these years, it's only fair for me to say that I love you."
"You think?" he laughed, fitting himself between your legs dangling from the metal counter. "You drank too much."
"You too." you responded immediately, starting to take off your gloves. "And alcohol doesn't affect my opinion. Feelings don't lie, do you want to feel?" Before the first glove could leave your hand, Five stopped you.
"I believe in you and I feel the same." he replied and in an unexpected gesture, he hugged you, putting his face in your mouth. "I've loved you for a while, it's a shame it took us so many years to realize."
"We can live that at least now." You gave space for his face to be in front of yours. "Damn, now I wish I could end this apocalypse."
His lips took yours and instead of his hands attaching themselves to your body, Five disheveledly took off your gloves and pulled your hands until they tangled around the back of his neck.
"I love you so much." he murmured between your lips, feeling almost overwhelmed by all the feeling that emanated from your hands. "Tonight, I'm yours and you're mine, fuck this apocalypse."
"Until the world ends?" you asked breathlessly.
"Until the world ends."
Your mouth tasted like alcohol, sweets and fear for the small future, but Five didn't see the problem, after all you could love each other until the world ended.

{Masterlist}
~Five days of Fluffmas~
Amidst the festivities of the Mikaelson Christmas party, Elijah captivates your attention, and Rebekah hatches a plan to assist you.
1k words - No warnings, no smut! just pure fluff.
Tumblr media
You weaved through the crowded room, heading towards the bar. The Mikaelson Christmas party was in full swing. People mingled all around the compound, but you could barely pay them any mind. The only thing on your mind was the original vampire across the room.
Perhaps it was the Christmas lights casting a warm glow, or the alcohol flowing through your veins. Maybe it was the way the dark fabric of his tux stretched over his shoulders. Either way, you found it difficult to keep your eyes off him.
He was leaning casually on a high table, talking with Marcel. You ordered a drink from the bartender, working up the courage to approach them.
"Are you alright?" asked Rebekah, who happened to notice the dreamy look on your face.
"Hmm?" You blinked out of your daze. You grabbed the drink in front of you, taking a long sip to distract yourself.
Rebekah smirked. She knew her brother was behind that look, and it made her smile.
"Thanks for the dress," you remembered, gesturing to the ball gown she had lent you. The deep purple fabric glittered faintly, reflecting the warm colors surrounding you. She truly had impeccable fashion sense.
"Of course," she smiled, "Although, you could show up in a potato sack and my brother would be head over heels for you.”
You blushed, "I don't know about that," you said, hiding your embarrassment with another swig of your drink. "He doesn't show much interest."
At this point, you were certain he pitied you, and he was only kind to you out of some sort of obligation. You just wished that it wasn't forced between the two of you. He wasn't exactly an open book, so it was impossible for you to guess at what might be on his mind.
Rebekah chuckled, "that's just his nature; unlike Kol and Klaus, he's always been reserved," she said, "but trust me, he likes you. You just have to make the first move."
"I'm not sure that I can," you confessed, "what do I say?"
Rebekah's smile grew wide, "I have an excellent idea," she said. She looked down the bar, grabbing one of the centerpieces and tearing a piece off of it, handing it to you. "Mistletoe."
The plant was small, with tiny white berries and small green leaves, tied together with a red velvet ribbon.
"So what? Just walk up to him and hold this above his head?" You asked, incredulously.
"Well," Rebekah shrugged, "that's one way.”
You decided to swallow down your nerves and just do it. You finished off your drink and headed towards where Elijah was standing. You felt like the ground was slipping away beneath you, but you chose not to stop. At this point, you decided you didn't care. You made a fast decision, and you were sticking with it.
After all, Christmas is a time for good cheer, right?
Elijah and Marcel continued to talk as you approached them. Your heart was pounding in your chest, and you knew they could probably hear it.
Marcel was the first to look up, giving you one of his signature warm and inviting smiles. Elijah took a few more seconds, his eyes snapping up to meet yours the minute he heard your heart start to beat faster.
"Uh, hi," You smiled awkwardly, completely losing the ability to speak.
Elijah returned your grin, suddenly curious as to why your heart was going so haywire. "Y/N, Merry Christmas," He greeted.
His eyes slipped down, noticing what you were holding in your hand. You panicked, moving the leaves so it was a bit more hidden behind you.
Marcel grinned as he realized what was going on. "What's that you have behind your back?" He teased.
"Don't worry about it," interjected Rebekah, arriving just in time to save you from the awkward tension. She looped her arm in Marcel's, pulling him away quickly.
With both of them gone, you were suddenly stuck, wondering what the heck to do now.
Well, you knew what to do, but you weren't sure if you would be able to.
You held the mistletoe up, a weak smile on your face as you met his eyes. All the butterflies in your stomach transformed into pure regret, and you instantly pulled the mistletoe down, shaking your head.
"You know what," you laughed, shaking your head, "sorry, this was ridiculous."
You were so embarrassed you just wanted to jump into a hole and hide forever, but before you could run away, Elijah gently grabbed your wrist. He slowly lifted your hand, extending the plant between you.
You looked at him questionably. With his other hand, Elijah caressed the side of your cheek. He stepped forward, his face suddenly a lot closer than it was before.
Slowly, he leaned in, stopping millimeters away from your mouth. He gave you time to stop it, to step away, but you didn't even consider it. You threw the mistletoe aside and threw your arms around him. Closing the space between you.
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion; you could feel every breath, every move, every touch. His hand moved to the small of your back, holding you close and pressing you into his chest. His other hand weaved into your hair, cradling your neck, keeping your lips connected to his.
After what felt like an eternity, you broke apart, just slightly. Foreheads pressed together, you couldn't help but giggle at the moment that had transpired.
Elijah let out a relieved sigh, smiling at the fact that he didn't need to continue pretending. He had fallen for you a long time ago, and here you were, smiling up at him with flushed cheeks. You pressed another quick kiss to his lips, before giggling again and burying your head into his neck.
He held you tight, swaying you slightly on the spot as you finally relaxed into him.
"Merry Christmas, darling," He whispered, pressing another quick kiss to your hair.
"You want to get out of here?" You asked shyly, lifting your eyes back to his.
He pulled away, bending down to pick up the discarded mistletoe, "can I bring this?" He teased.
You smiled, taking his free hand and intertwining your fingers with his.
"Please do."

I'ma say this, especially in lieu of season 3.
One of my favorite things about the Umbrella Academy is what a perfect example they are of a wildly dysfunctional family. Every single one of them is fucked up. They're all dumb, they're self-absorbed, they're assholes, and they still love each other.
I think that hating any one sibling is the wrong way to do it. Some of them have done terrible things that I hate or disagree with. There's no need to excuse them for their behavior, and at the same time, there's so much more to people and life/our minds are just not simple.
Was it okay for Allison to behave how she did for the majority of season 3? No. At the same time, she's grieving. She lost her daughter and her husband, two people she deeply loved and was very committed to. She had relationships with them that the other siblings didn't really get to form with other people (Viktor and Sissy had very different circumstances, Diego and Patch had different circumstances), and people talk about how no one acknowledged Klaus's struggles, or Five's sacrifices, but no one does that for Allison either.
I actually kind of liked how they portrayed her grief. It's not just crying in sweats and an oversized jumper and drinking a mug of tea. Sometimes it's angry, and making really bad decisions, and taking it out on everyone around you. Grief can do terrible things to people, it clouds our judgment more than anything, and while it doesn't make their actions okay, I think we need to give people more space when they grieve. It's a complicated situation and we can't act like it's simple or easy.
Anyway, I'm still team Allison, just like I'm team Everyone Else. I hope she is able to heal and get what she wants and needs in life, and I hope the same for the rest of them. (Ngl, at the end of season 3, I thought she died to save her siblings, and she was in her version of heaven, which ofc would've had Claire and Ray. That's why I thought she wasn't with her siblings. I don't think she was being selfish either, but again, I don't really know what happened, my working theory is still that she died.)

ii. SO, HOW SHOULD i begin this?
part two woo. hopefully i'll be able to catch up on this and maybe publish some other stuff now that i'm home a lot more often (yay pain and mobility issues), maybe some arcane stuff since that would be fun, branching out into my last hyperfixation again lol. i've proofread so it should be good :>
pairing : five hargreeves x male/transmasc reader [he/him pronouns]
─────
where : after trying and sort of succeeding to get on the hargreeves' good side, five and [y/n] try rationalizing the situation and figuring out something, anything, to do about it.
─────
warnings : mentions of trauma, threats [of physical violence and murder], reader is still totally exhausted because how could he not be, depression, dissociation, pain, bits of shouting, not necessarily a warning but viktor is always viktor in the multiverse because the boy deserves it okay, existentialism, philosophical nihilism, family issues.
Tumblr media
five adjusted his clothes in the mirror. although he wouldn't be able to have a proper retirement, he could look like a retired old man, couldn't he? who would've thought that someone could get so excited for beiges and tans. he got an amused look of subtle approval from you. beyond that, it wasn't very hard to look past your façade if he was being honest, you looked hesitant; though could he blame you? there were probably millions of worlds where his family fucked you over or just straight-up killed you. and yet, you also looked too tired to care. he couldn't blame you for that, either.
he touched your shoulder again. in a flit of light, which once again made you feel horribly nauseated and woozy, you were downstairs. surprised exclamations roused from his family.
"anyone know where vanya and allison are?" five asked, glancing with narrowed eyes across the lacking table.
"nope." and after that short reply diego went back to finishing off his meal—for someone who often scarfed his meals down, he seemed to be taking his sweet time. either that or your fun conversation with five had not taken as long as you'd thought; either possibility was equally likely at this point, really.
"nuh-uh... sorry."
"not a clue, unfortunately. something wrong, tiny dancer?" klaus asked.
"well, we have a new problem."
"who's this guy?" luther pointed at you wish his thumb, not caring to cover his mouth; your nausea was worsened to see someone talking whilst eating. diego looked at you then, and you hated how his glare bore straight through your soul. he really, really didn't seem to appreciate your presence. how both of them could so willingly ignore the phrase 'we have a problem,' especially from five, was unknown to you.
"this is [y/n]. he's one of the sparrows."
you waved once to everyone. whether the sluggishness of the motion, and the weak smile which accompanied it, was due to shyness or exhaustion was incredibly murky and unclear.
"so now we're getting all buddy-buddy with the enemy? do you know how stupid that is?"
"i'm sorry, diego, did you not hear me say that we have a problem?"
"well, you say that a lot, little brother!" klaus leaned forward to see you clearer, giving you a smile. it didn't really placate your anxieties or your strong desire to run, however it was appreciated. he waved, and you again waved back politely, still feeling very... guilty for your earlier flub. it wasn't a new thing, either, and that made you feel even worse. "hello, little enemy! how do you look so young? do you use those, like, '10 years younger' face creams? i didn't know they worked that well—"
"that is not a relevant question, klaus, now can someone please tell me where allison and vanya are?"
you cleared your throat slightly. "vanya is most likely getting a haircut. allison is trying to get to claire, but she's... not going to find her." it left a bitter taste in your mouth to refer to viktor in such a disrespectful way, but you couldn't take that from him. upon receiving suspicious stares from the younger hargreeves brothers, you mumbled a quiet "maybe."
"mind telling us what the hell is going on before i deck this mini-muffin across the lobby?"
"hey, hey, do not use mini-muffin as an insult! those are beautiful things, there's nothing better than mini-muffins when you're on a bender at, like, three in the morning!" klaus got a confused and heavily judgmental look in return for that... beautiful insight.
"[y/n] has the ability to see all other timelines, so he can usually find out the most probable events. okay? good. now i need to find allison, so can one of you fetch vanya, please?"
"no, not good, and no thanks! after all we've gone through, we deserve a proper explanation!" klaus objected. after a second or two of awkward silence, and a scowling glare from five, he gave in with a curt sigh. it sounded more like a groan. the brothers looked at you; klaus was the only one to seem patient, showing the approval of a parent understanding a kid's fear of giving a speech; luther stared at you with a puzzling mix of intrigue and subtle impatience; and diego stared at you with a raised eyebrow, leaning his head in slightly as if to say 'i'm waiting.' five's glare, although still quite characteristic, was a bit softer when aimed at you. you could never feel more put on the spot.
"you've gotta say something, little man, we can't read your mind," klaus encouraged.
"well, uh... i don't know exactly what it is yet, but something is wrong."
"aren't you omniscient or some shit? you can see literally every reality!"
the shouting scared you quite a bit and certainly made your headache worse. you put one of your hands to your head, mumbling, wishing you could just get some painkillers. if only five had given them back.
"don't shout, for fuck's sake," five grumbled, annoyed in his own right.
"i'm not omniscient. if no other worlds know something, then i can't, and... no other world knows yet. but something is wrong." your quiet voice was juxtaposed to diego's, still loud and stubborn like back in the academy. around 79.4 percent of every single alternate world which had diego in it found him like this, angry and short-tempered; it was very interesting. "you aren't supposed to be here. you guys, as you are, don't exist here. i don't think reality appreciates you showing up all of a sudden. and if versions of yourselves already exist in this world, then something will need to... iron out the wrinkles, i guess." you pursed your lips for a second. "not to be too brash or anything, but, to really, really dumb it down, you're a mis—you're mistakes."
"seriously? five, i thought you said that this timeline would be safe to stay in." luther looked like a scolded puppy. you felt bad. he was far too sweet—naive? yes, naive—for this kind of life.
"yes, that's what i thought, but second opinions are pretty valuable in my line of expertise. turns out it was sorely needed." his brows pricked up a few times while he spoke. "but, like you said before, it may be a problem we can solve."
diego remained, unsurprisingly, unswayed. "you better not be including this wad of chewed gum in that 'we,' five."
"what is with you and insulting him? he wants to help. jesus christ."
"last time i checked, his entire family just kicked our asses out of our own house, i have a right to be pissed, and he's lucky i'm in no killing mood."
"i don't agree that he should be killed," luther began in solidarity, "but we have a reason not to trust him, right?"
you took a little breath and exhaled it in a quiet sigh. "i know my family can be... extreme. and bad sometimes. trust me. and i totally understand how you can be angry with them and with me and think that i'm not honest. but i never hurt anyone, and i want to help you guys. you're eccentric yourselves, but usually you're good people. you're, like, an actual family," you added, trailing off, "not a group forced to stay together for monetary gain."
five squinted at you slightly. was that one of the reasons you chose not to grow up? you couldn't be associated with the sparrows if you were half their age. throw on a pair of sunglasses and nobody could recognize you.
jeez. didn't that sound nice.
"you guys really deserve a place to rest. a stable place to live, even. and if we can figure this out, then maybe you won't have to live in constant fear of coming into contact with your doppelganger or something. live, like, normal lives. as normal as they can be, anyway."
diego, much to your surprise, seemed to listen to what you were saying. sure, he still looked quite ticked-off and impatient, but you couldn't really ask for too much from him, could you?
"and you're sure that this is a problem we can actually solve? for good?"
"i'm not exactly sure what the problem even is yet. all i know is that something is wrong. but every problem has a solution, even if it seems impossible sometimes." there was a twinge of sage, melancholic hopelessness somewhere in there, some subtle disbelief. "five is quite the expert in timelines and time travel-related problems and paradoxes, and i'm an expert in alternate realities and manipulating reality itself. if anyone can figure it out, i'm sure we can. and i have no doubt that all of you will also play large parts."
luther's face was screwed into an expression of brazen confusion. "so... we're, like, completely blind, and need to fight an enemy we know absolutely nothing about."
"pretty much," you mumbled.
"surprisingly poetic way to put that, luther, i'm impressed," five mused rather sarcastically. "unfortunately, however, it seems we're gonna have to do something terrible and unprecedented." perhaps for dramatic effect, perhaps to quell his own annoyances, he paused and sighed out a breath. "we're going to have to work together." he did not need to specify the parties specified in 'together.'
"well, personally, i think this is a splendid idea. perfect opportunity for family bonding, i'd say! we're surrounded by decent chinese food and competent beds and cable television. decent music, too! and diego can finally figure out some self-discipline by not constantly threatening to kill [y/n]! marvelous idea little ones." admittedly, klaus's unique way of talking and gesturing was quite calming to you. you were very grateful for him. oddly enough—maybe you should've stopped saying that when it came to the umbrellas—klaus seemed to be that pillar of tranquility for you. viktor as well.
"calm down, calm down. you know that he won't turn against us or whatever? you're sure?"
the question was directed at five but you answered for him. "i'm not strong and i've never been in good health. even christopher, without his powers, would be better at fighting you than i would."
"the fucking cube?" you nodded. he plastered a grin over a pouting scowl. he sighed, giving into the plan. perhaps some remaining distrust still lingered, however, he could deal with it. "we've gotta clue allison and vanya in now. i'll go get vanya."
"finally," five huffed, shaking his head. "i'm going to find allison. you said she's going to try and find claire? i'll go to her old house." and then, the next second, he was gone. a few seconds of... incredibly awkward silence passed, where luther was staring at you whole-heartedly.
"go on and take a seat, young whipper-snapper. do you have any dietary restrictions? or allergies? we've probably got something here you can eat, if you want."
Tumblr media
you had asked to walk back home with five.
"why with me?" "it's a little bit selfish, but i really don't want to be alone right now, and you're the number one person i trust right now." "flattering," he muttered. "then why walk?" "i think better when i walk."
admittedly, walking was taxing for you right now, so it may not have been your brightest idea, but after this entire day you needed a nice break; the picturesque city sunset was nice, the breeze was subtle and sweet, and it smelled like food out there on the streets. viktor had offered to talk with marcus and try to make a deal; you'd asked him to be very, very careful. "i don't know if purposely seeking out the anomaly would be more effective, or if allowing it to reveal itself would be better. maybe we should seek it out."
five nodded slightly. "allowing it to reveal itself could mean that it becomes too powerful to stop."
"that's kind of what i was thinking. we don't know how it would reveal itself. what if it destroys something, or changes something? what if it hurts people?" your voice was quieter with that last proposition. it was the worst possible option in your mind; buildings could be rebuilt. changes could be undone, with enough time and patience. but people could not be undamaged, and they could not be brought back to life.
well, not permanently, anyway.
five's pace slowed a bit and he peered at you, strangely, for a moment. you avoided his eyes.
"surprisingly enough, i don't think this is the... worst outcome." "forgive me but i don't really believe you. we've got jack all on either side. essentially, we're alone." "you're used to it, five." "hmph. and you aren't?" "not in this way, i guess." there was more he wanted to say but you would not give him the opportunity to dig too deep. "there are worlds where your family is on board. trusts me, even, after some convincing. and there are also some where we narrow the options down. i'd love to be in one of those. but at least we aren't at each other's throats again, or diego's choking me to death." your voice soured. if you got too close, you could feel that pain. there your mind went then, trying to save your other selves out of some ethereal desperation you could never claw yourself away from.
"ow!" you hissed, clapping a hand to your neck where it had stung, sharp and sudden. "what was that?"
"you were seriously so spaced out you didn't see me?" five asked, though it barely sounded like a question. he sounded just barely concerned. you had looked like a glove without a hand. "jeez," he scoffed, shaking his head. "did you see anything helpful, at least? anything at all?"
your mind was still seared and shattered across uncountable realities and he could see that struggle to ground in your eyes. hear it in your breath. you had little mental fortitude left to respond. "sorry? can you repeat that?"
five didn't roll his eyes. unfortunately, he knew dissociation. he carefully took your hands in his, rubbing your knuckles like he'd seen you do before, and that seemed to give you... some amount of usable energy. it was also sort of difficult not to notice him, of all people, doing it, even while he sported an expression of general distaste for the situation; you couldn't tell if it was falsified or not. slowly, you were returning to your body, and it felt heavier than ever before. "what did you see?" he repeated, just as you asked, meticulously annunciating each word and using a decent pace.
you nodded slightly. "i saw a few other timelines. less fortunate ones." you didn't need to elaborate for five to understand what you were referring to. the broad strokes, anyway. "nothing really useful, though," you added after a second in total defeat.
"shit. well, that's alright." and though it clearly wasn't, you didn't say anything.
"how long have we been standing here?"
"... a minute or two."
"oh, great," you mumbled, shaking your head to yourself. your record was around two hours, sure, but it still sucked. "the... we should seek it out."
"wow. you remembered."
"we were having the same conversation a whole lot. given i was still alive and actually grew to trust you." it was a half-joke but it succeeded in getting a bare grin out of five. "we can't risk hurting other people."
"or destroying something," five added.
"or destroying something," you agreed, then furrowing your brow slightly. a cafe nearby was playing pleasant music; that was something keeping you tethered to this world in particular, as if five wasn't enough, but even he was quiet sometimes. "the only problem is we don't know where it is."
"or what it looks like. if it even looks like something at all. it could very well be invisible or incomprehensible." he scowled for a second, though not out of irritation, thinking rather loudly to himself. "we should start where we appeared, i think." you nodded in agreement. "if your... 'family' decides to work with us, all of us, then we can search a whole lot more. but we should get the basics out of the way."
"the beginning is always the most logical place to start."
"quaint way to put it, did you write the sound of music in another universe?"
"what part about 'literally any possible, feasible universe' do you not understand?" you joked, managing a small smile of your own, and five would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little bit relieved to see you humoring yourself again.
"i deserve that." he paused for a second. "i know you said that walking helps you think, and you definitely need to do that more, but you look like a dead man standing right now. i'd rather just drop you off at the academy and get back to my own family. are you okay to teleport?" you did not respond at first, taking careful account of how you felt and how you may feel after. eventually, and rather subtly, you nodded.
"my room is klaus's old room back in your universe."
"wow, that... makes it easier. safer, probably." that was the closest you were going to get to 'thank you' so you took it. you shut your eyes tight and breathed deep through that half-second nausea-bomb. you were happy to see your room when you opened your eyes; smelling like home, looking like home, feeling like pure comfort. five glanced about your room. somehow it looked exactly like what he expected from you, which was a compliment. it was cozy. well-lived—especially the bed. there were many blankets and pillows and a few stuffed animals, unmade, probably because you barely left it. he couldn't blame you, either.
looking at you, you seemed totally relieved and excited to be back home.
"are you going to let go of my hands now?"
five stiffened for a second, mumbling a hushed apology before letting go, shoving his hands in his pockets. you couldn't help but grin a little, tiredly, and he scoffed when he saw it. "don't look at me like that. i was helping you ground, since you evidently can't do it yourself sometimes." not that he could blame you, really. he couldn't imagine what it would be like to be... you.
you ignored the jab. "i'm surprised you're willing to wait to take care of this," you mumbled, hanging up your scarf and sweater, lazily rifling through your dresser to find something decently comfortable to pass out in. "you always insisted on getting things done quick. if not immediately."
"i'm desperate for one damn moment of peace. the world isn't being decimated just yet. i just want to sleep decently for once."
you smiled slightly. no one could work while exhausted, especially not when it came to your quandary. "go on and sleep then. i'll meet you at the obsidian again tomorrow."
"yeah. oh, uh, just remembered something. close your eyes for a few seconds."
"why?"
"just do it."
you scoffed, though without any sort of animosity or annoyance, shutting your eyes tight like he told you to. you heard the familiar sound of his blinking once, twice. "alright. you can look. here." he held out to you your bottle of painkillers. "nearly forgot to give them back."
"oh, sh—thank you." the relief on your face was quite plain and sort of comforting as well. he mustered a slight hum in response.
"good night."
"night, five. sleep well."
"hmph. we'll see."

I don’t absolutely despise klaroline, although I definitely do not like them either, but one of the most stupid things in the entirety of the originals is Klaus flirting with Caroline while Hayley and hope is abducted. Would you consider this to be a writing mistake or just Klaus being Klaus? I’ve always wondered if he focused more on finding them if he’d of been able to save Hayley in time.
Tumblr media
I've made an entire tik tok about this because I despised this episode since the first time I saw it. I laid out all of the dumb decisions Klaus made in the episode in the tik tok as well as a lengthy caption. You can see that here.
Klaus in Season 5 is terribly written. He may not be my favorite character and I don't like klaroline but everything about him and them in Season 5 was wrong.
Starting with Rebekah calling Caroline to go find Klaus. That made no sense. Why wouldn't Freya or Marcel go find him. They are his family. Marcel has known him for 200 years. It's not like Rebekah thought he wouldn't harm her, he had nearly killed Caroline multiple times. Marcel was upgraded, he would have been the best choice to go and talk some sense into Klaus. Or Freya who could have gone and yelled at him for abandoning Hope.
Just the fact that Klaus was ignoring Hope for five years made no sense to me. I get he was terrified that she would hate him after what she saw, but the end of Season 3 and through Season 4, we began to see a version of Klaus that was actually putting Hope's needs first. This abandonment was a complete regression back to his Season 2 narcissism. Also, Hope not continuing to astral project to find him made no sense. She is a powerful witch, if Caroline could track him down, so could Hope.
Now onto the day of the event.
My biggest gripe is that they are literally driving everywhere. Klaus is the fastest being, why is he taking an SUV that can go max 180 mph? Why did they stop at a rest stop to get coffee? Exhaustion doesn't affect them that way. They are literally flirting and joking around as Hope and Hayley are missing. Sure at this point they may not have realized how serious it was, but Klaus would never have allowed himself to be distracted like that. It was bad writing purely for ratings.
Klaus would rip apart the world to save both Hayley and Hope. Showing him doing anything less is a disservice to his character.
Good writing, writing that is true to Klaus' character would have shown him turning into a wolf to track Hope down. Ansel tells Klaus in Season 2 that he was drawn to Klaus as a child and even to Hope because wolves are drawn to their family. It would have been so satisfying to finally watch Klaus at one with his wolf side in order to find Hope.
It also was so out of character to see Klaus walking slowly to the house. Hayley was actively having her wolf side suppressed and fighting Greta. Klaus would have heard this from miles away and sped as fast as possible to the house. Instead we see him walking at a slow human speed. Caroline is also easily snuck up on by Elijah and Klaus doesn't immediately snap his neck? True-to-character Klaus would have ripped out Elijah's heart to save Hope and Hayley. After all, Elijah would have been fine.
Very little of Season 5 was not just poor writing. There were scenes and plot points that directly contradict established canon. The reason the writing was so bad is because the writers were killing Hayley, Elijah, and Klaus off no matter what. Hayley's death was 1000% preventable. Hayley was a hybrid and a member of the strongest family but was somehow killed by a 100 year old vamp? Say what you will about Klaus, but Klaus definitely would have saved her no matter what. She never should have died but Julie wanted Legacies to have an orphaned Hope and didn't care to make the writing good.
Shameless plug: If you want to read how I would rewrite Season 5 to make more sense, check out my story, Don't It Just Break Your Heart, on AO3 and Wattpad.

Chapter 3: Run Boy Run

Five is aged up here.

Diego Hargreeves
Klaus Hargreeves
Allison Hargreeves
Vanya Hargreeves
Ben Hargreeves
Luther Hargreeves
Pogo
Grace
Comic Cha Cha - C.C.
Comic Hazel - C.H.
Cha Cha
Hazel
Everyone else is in white.
Grace starts the record player, a weatherman's voice reverberated throughout the room. Grace grabs a little bell and starts ringing it, soft chimes gaining the attention of the children.
All of them came to the dining hall one by one standing behind a chair waiting for their father to present himself.
Hargreeves finally makes his way into the room and gives them permission to sit.
Allison and Luther make eyes at each other as the rest of the kids start to dig into their meals. All of them except Five however whom was currently glaring daggers at his so called father. Ben pulls out a book to read Klaus was doing something secretive.
Five picks up his knife and stabs it into the table gaining everyone's attention including Hargreeves though he refused to look at him.
"Number Five."
"I have a question."
Five states with an annoyed smile on his face. He hated when Reginald did that it was like he saw them as less than.
"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during meal times. You are interrupting Herr Carlson."
Five's frowns.
"I want to time travel."
"No."
"But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said."
Five stands from his seat. Hargreeves still refuses to look at him which causes Five to glare at him before teleporting at his side.
"See?"
Five was starting to get upset. Why couldn't he acknowledge that he was getting better. Aren't parents supposed to encourage their kids?
"A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel."
Five looked at his siblings but they were all ignoring the fit he was throwing.
"One is like sliding along ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn."
Five sighs to himself.
"Well, I don't get it."
"Hence the reason you're not ready."
Five glances at his siblings again this time they were all looking at him. Vanya shook her head at him signaling for him to stop. It only angered him because he didn't think they believed in him.
"I'm not afraid."
"Fear is not the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable."
Hargreeves finally looks at him, there as a fierce glare and deep frown on his face.
"Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore."
Five looked at him with eyes full of resentment, there was a look of contempt on his face.
Five glares at the ground as Hargreeves turns his attention back to his plate. Five walks out of the dining hall catching everyone's attention.
"Number Five! You haven't been excused."
Five ignored his statement and headed outside.
"Come back here!"
Five walks the streets with a determined look on his face. Who cares if his family didn't believe in him. He was going to show them. Show him. That he was ready. If Hargreeves wasn't going to show him how to time travel, he'll do it himself.
Five begins to run holding his hands out in front of him. His hands begin to shine a bright blue color and as he spreads his hands apart the trees that were once lifeless now had blossoming flowers and bright green leaves.
Five looks behind him and smiles, there were more people outside now and different stands, new restaurants.
"Not ready, my ass."
Now more confident he jumps again. This time snow filled the ground, the air was cold and frigid. There were few were people on the streets and now buildings were put on lease.
He jumps one last time and what he sees shocks him.
Everything was destroyed, buildings were either torn down to debris or on fire. There was no one walking around that he could see. The air was fogged from all the smoke, it was hard to breathe.
He looked around in panic, this was not what he had expected when he decided to jump. This couldn't be the future, how could the world go to shit so fast...
He turned to run, heading home to find his siblings only to come to the hard truth of his home being burned down. It was hard to believe that this happened, where was everyone?
"Vanya! Ben! Dad! Anyone!"
He was scared. He had to warn them what was about to happen.
He balled his fist ready to jump but nothing happened, his hands weren't glowing. He tried again and again but still nothing.
"Come on!"
He was starting to get frustrated with himself. He should be able to do this no problem, he did it before. He got here just fine, he should be able to jump back.
But his body refused, it wouldn't let him and he had to come to terms with the fact that his father was right.
"Shit!"
-
"Wow out one prison and into another."
You shake your head in disbelief, Five shrugs relishing in the feel of your hand playing with his brown locks as his head laid in your lap.
"Dolores makes it bearable."
"What about me?"
Five smiles at you teasingly.
"I could do without you."
You gave him a faux look of annoyance and pushed him off your lap causing him to laugh.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Come back."
Five reaches out for you still laughing.
"Cuddle up with your doll."
Five groans still reaching for you.
"She's not as warm as you."
You roll your eyes when Five wrapped his arms around you and placed his face in your stomach.
"What am I gonna do with you?"
"Oh please, you know you love me."
He had no idea.
🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛
Five was currently walking the streets late at night after leaving Vanya's apartment. He was currently pissed off right now. He didn't know if it was because he no longer looked his age but his siblings were not taking anything he said seriously.
It didn't matter though because whether they were helping or not, Five was going to stop the apocalypse, He had to.
With his mind focused on one thing and one thing only he didn't notice the blue light that shined behind his back.
You watched as the figure walked further and further into the darkness in case it had been one of those people Five had warned you to watchout for at night. When the figure is a safe distance away from you; you stand from the ground and start to dust yourself off.
"Okay Five, where are you?"
You started to look around at your surroundings. You didn't know where you were supposed to go, it's been awhile since you've been here and it's even more different now that there were actual buildings around. You were used to seeing tons of merpeople back home but it was a relief to see actual people on the deserted land you came to know, up until now the only people you've interacted with had been Five, some of your ex coworkers at the commission and people that you either had to kill or were on the brink of death, all isolated conditions. Sure you didn't talk to the figure but it was a nice change.
You let out a yawn, slowly rubbing your tired eyes, you were exhausted after today. Finding Five would have to wait and with your tracker now out of your system you actually felt safe enough to get some rest.
With that in mind you went on a search to find a nice place to sleep however unbeknownst to you, there was someone else looming in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike.
You had ended up finding some type of motel. You realized that you didn't have any money on you but the staff was nice enough to cut a deal with you for the night. The guy had directed you to a small room, it wasn't very nice looking and it didn't have conditioning but you were happy with it regardless.
You moved one of the dressers near the door seeing as they put you in a room with no lock, you took a cold bath before checking the window and finally heading to bed.
Outside of the Motel, a taxi pulled up and out stepped two of the four assassins sent to take care of you and Five. A man and woman dressed in blue suits. Hazel and ChaCha.
The two walked into the building and spoke with the staff. The man hands them a key card.
"Room 225."
The two of them look at the man confused. Or ChaCha did Hazel looked around disinterested.
"Where's the other room?"
The other room happened to be the broken down room he had ended up giving to you. He didn't want to admit it so he lied.
"Um... Only one room was booked."
Hazel sighs and whispers to himself.
"Dammit I'm sick of this cost-cutting bullshit."
"Just tell me there's two beds."
ChaCha says firmly.
"Yes Ma'am. Real firm."
ChaCha was not amused.
"How long will you be staying with us?"
"Just the one night. I believe there's a package waiting for us."
The guy nods at her and goes to grab it. He comes back with a box addressed to them. ChaCha grabs the box while Hazel grabs the key card and they go about their day.
Not too far from the motel was an abandoned laboratory, It was dark and dusty, the owner clearly hadn't been there in years. The whirl of machinery started to sound and soon multiple different red lights started to fill the room.
🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
Griddy's was surrounded by different cop cars, there was caution tape surrounding the building and faint drops of blood on the ground. Agnes sat in one of the booths, she was still shaken up about the events that transpired.
One of the cops who went by the name Detective Patch walked around the building shocked by the amount of bodies.
"This is a once in a blue moon type situation, I'd say."
"I'm inclined to agree."
Her boss sighed.
"Same gun on every vic, all M4s. All the castings are .223s."
She informs him of the findings.
"Know what I think? I think these idiots all shot each other."
She said confidently, her boss added to the statement.
"And stabbed. One in the throat."
He shivered.
"One in the eye, and this guy got his neck snapped."
He falls joining her on the ground to inspect the body.
"All quick and efficient kills."
"These are definitely professionals. Dumb, but professionals. Any witnesses?"
"Yes, one."
He points at Anges. Patch walks up to the woman wanting to ask her about what happened.
"It was a slow night. It was quiet. My last two customers were this.. older guy and— and his kid."
Patch nods.
"The guy had a dough— No, that's not right. The guy had an éclair, and the kid had— had coffee. I went-- I went into the back room... To just get some more change. Then I heard his truck start up. They drove away."
Anges recounts remembering the gun shots.
"I heard shots."
She remembered jumping under the desk, cowering until the guns stopped.
"By the time I got back in here. Everyone was..."
She couldn't say it, she wanted to cry.
"Was you know."
"Was there anyone else in the shop?"
Patch asked gently. Agnes shook her head.
"I'm sorry, not to be rude, 'cause you seem super sweet, but..."
She pauses remembering the brunette man who was dressed in dark clothing and a green jacket that came earlier that night.
"do I have to go through all this again?"
Patch was confused.
"Again?"
"Well I already told the other detective everything."
Patch made an annoyed look, she knew who it was but she had to ask anyway.
"What other detective?"
-
Diego walks out from the back of the building. He sighs when he sees all the police outside of his exit door.
"Shit. Hang on, let me—"
He tried to talk but Patch wasn't having any of it and tases him. She cuffs him and berates him as she walks him towards the front of the store. Diego tries to flirt to get under her skin and she ends up taking his walkie and everything else important that he had besides his mask.
"That you can keep."
"You used to like that."
"Not anymore."
"Where's Lupo?"
"Not here."
"Can I talk to him?"
"Nope."
Diego sighs.
"By the way, this thing might look like a botched robbery, but my gut's telling me something else is going on here."
Patch rolls her eyes.
"Look, the waitress, she mentioned that Ishmael's Tow Truck guy. Maybe they saw something."
"You're not police, Diego, remember?"
"Yeah, I know."
He says sarcastically as she puts him in the back of the police car.
"Do you? Because you show up and act like you can be a part of this, and you can't, not anymore."
She says to him closing the door, sometimes she felt like she was a mother scolding a child when it came to him.
"I'm good at this. You know I can help you. Ask Lupo."
"I know you give me agita. And I do not need... I do not want your help. And I'll make sure the boss talks to Lupo."
Diego glares at her, he was frustrated. His whole life, taught to fight crime and people act like he can't even do that.
Patch walks off as a crowd of people look at the commotion at Griddy's, Hazel and ChaCha being apart of the crowd. ChaCha was silently judging the agents that were burnt to a crisp outside of the building.

You woke up to the sound of the soft chirping of the birds, their little song reminding you of Tigger. Though you couldn't hear him then, his dancing told you he was.
You smiled as you listened to their song wanting to join in with them. You finally stand up to get ready for the day.
You looked at yourself in the mirror there was a small splatter of blood on your suit, faint enough at night but not quite in the day. You took it off and started to wash your face. While washing your face you had the urge to drink from the sink, you hadn't had water in a while and you needed it in your system to be able to use your powers, C.H. and C.C. was currently after you and you had no idea where they were. You never know when you need to turn into a mermaid (less likely) or blow out someone's eardrums.
After mulling over your options you decided it's better safe than sorry and drunk from the sink. Your skin was starting to gain some color and you felt way better.
After that you walked out and had a chat with the staff member from the night before. You waved at him as you left.
"See you later, I will have your money by then. Thank you."
You walked out and smiled as the sun beamed down on your skin, you used to have a bad relationship with the sun. Being alone on a deserted land, crawling around with a heavy tail while being dried out will do that. But over the years it's become a solace, after meeting The Handler everything had become dark but the sun was always there shining bright and you had begun to admire it.
It was nice to see the sky, it was just as blue as the ocean. You hadn't gotten to see it like this before. The air was filled with smoke around the time you came on land, it polluted the sky and other times you were too occupied to notice it when taking care of business.
There was nature, birds, trees, people, lots of people not the lifeless corpses you've come to see across your many years on land.
This was what your mom saw, the way she described the human world before she...
You let out a deep sigh. As you were walking past a park, a terrorized scream filled the air.
And just like that, you were reminded that the human world was in fact not like the stories your mother told you.

Chapter Four: The Prodigal Son (Part Two)
[October 2nd, 1991
Mystic Falls, Virginia]
"Isn't it just perfect?"
Carol wiggled her ring finger in front of Grace so that the diamonds on her wedding band glittered and shone underneath the dim lamplight. "I told Richard not to break the bank, but the silly man just couldn't help himself!"
"Well, I wasn't about to let my wife run around in a cheap knock-off," Rich chuckled, "What kind of husband would I be then?? My woman deserves only the best. Right, hunny?"
"Oh, Rich..."
Grace and William watched in barely suppressed disgust as the Lockwoods shared a kiss between each other. One that lasted a bit too long for it to be comfortable. At a certain point, Grace cleared her throat, hoping it would interrupt them.
"Ah, where are our manners?" Richard Lockwood asked with a coy smile, finally pulling away from his wife, "We were talking, weren't we?"
He didn't wait for either Grace or William to reply before continuing what was starting to seem like a one-way conversation.
"So, Will. What brings Mystic Falls' prodigal son back into town?? Ready to settle down and start a family with somebody special?"
Mr. Lockwood's gaze trailed (not so subtly) over onto Grace, who glowered back at him, and Will. There was cold fire burning deep within her eyes as she did. Something that was historically never a good sign when it came to Grace. William knew from experience. A shiver ran down his spine. He would need to choose his next words with care...
"Ah, no. I'm happy with being a bachelor," he said solemnly, "In all honesty, I'm too busy these days with work to pursue anything really serious."
Carol scoffed, "Oh, that's what they all say!"
"Is it, Carol?" Grace shot back, her tone brisk and lined with edges, "Is that what they all say?"
"It's how I got my Richard."
"Pretty sure you got "your" Richard another way."
"Ladies, ladies!"
"Uh..."
The tension mounting around the booth could be cut with a knife. William sensed that he'd have to alter the course of their conversation before both women murdered each other, so he began telling everyone about his new job. And the reason why he'd come back to Mystic Falls. It was 50% half truths, 50% outright lies, but either side hooked his audience and temporarily cooled down their anger. Unfortunately, it also inspired Richard to start talking about his (running) candidacy for mayor. A topic that William cared nothing about and knew was going to steal more valuable time away from him. Time he didn't have. He needed another distraction...
"DRINKS!!" William exclaimed, suddenly bolting upright in the booth and slamming his fist down on the table, "We need more drinks! To celebrate the, uh. The-"
"Candidacy!" Grace finished his sentence, giving Will a look that told him she was thinking on the same wavelength, "To celebrate Richard's future as the mayor of Mystic Falls!! In fact, I'm gonna help this dork here order. He doesn't know an IPA from a porter. Isn't that right, Will?"
William glared at her but was forced to agree for the sake of this charade.
"What a wonderful idea!" Carol brightened at the offer, "I'll have a glass of chardonnay. Tell them to use the Grand Cru."
"Just grab me a brandy. Plain. No ice."
Egos sated, the Lockwoods scooted over, giving William and Grace enough room to get out of the booth. Grace mouthed the word 'hurry' to Will as she grabbed her purse and literally speed walked towards the bar. William followed suit, but before he was able to extricate himself completely, Rich asked him an off-handed question...
"Was it really an animal in the woods that night?"
"..."
The only answer William gave Mr. Lockwood was an icy grimace.
Tumblr media
"Steve! Code Crimson. I need you to make direct eye contact with me, nod your head a few times, and act like I've just ordered a few drinks," Grace announced to the man behind the counter when she arrived at the bar, "Dick is being a creep."
Steven, the most seasoned mixologist at the Grill, raised a single brow in response while he continued to work. It looked like he was making a Mystic Moon; one of the most popular cocktails on sale this month and a fairly easy drink to put together. Despite this, Steve was taking his time blending in the blueberry juice, grenadine syrup, and gin.
"Stevie, c'mon. Pretty please? For me??"
The bartender sighed, "Grace, I can 86 any other guy who hits on you here, but Mr. Lockwood is a loyal patron-"
"Oh my god, you're seriously taking bribes from Little Dick now?!" Grace hissed, "Traitor."
"I don't see you paying my rent."
"Watch it, now. I'll stop bringing you a plate every Sunday. I know how much you love my lasagna!"
"You drive a hard bargain, Grace, but I was a line cook once upon a time, remember?? You'll have'ta do better than that."
"I'll start playing Fantasy League Football with you."
"Now we're talking!"
"Ugh, I regret this already."
Steve chuckled, then went straight to pretending that she'd ordered something and left Grace with the sneaking suspicion that he'd gotten the best portion of their deal. William joined her at the bar a second afterward, similarly frustrated. The two friends sighed at the same time. Their night was not going the way they'd expected it would...
William ran a hand through his chocolate brown hair. "So, what now?" he asked Grace, "I still owe you an explanation. A real one."
"Knew that whole 'I'm here for work' story was a crock of shit," She replied while glancing back at both Lockwoods to make sure their eyes weren't upon them. Thankfully, however, Rich and Carol seemed to be distracted by another person now.
"It wasn't all untrue. It just...wasn't all true either."
Grace scowled, "Well, it's great to know I can still tell when you're lying. Let's get out of here."
Luck wasn't on their side tonight. For as soon as they exited the Grill, it began to rain. William tore off his jacket and held it over Grace's head like an umbrella while they ran through the downpour to the safety of his truck. But by the time they'd got inside the vehicle, they were both soaking wet. It was a good thing he'd fixed the heater before the trip here. William turned it on, dialing up the heat to high. Blessed warmth filled the air and fogged the windows like blurry curtains. Providing a sort of privacy that he needed to finally tell Grace the truth.
William took a deep, shaky breath in, then out.
"Grace," he started, "I know you don't remember it, but...you made me promise something on the night of the accident. We swore an oath that if I ever got in over my head with anything, I'd come to you for help. And you swore on your mother's lineage that no matter what, you'd help me. You gotta know, I never wanted this day to come. Not ever. Honest to god! But we made an oath."
A laugh came from Grace. She looked at William with snickering disbelief, "What?? Do you need a loan? You know, you can drop the whole act. It's just you and me now. You reeeeally don't have to make up a story to tell me what the fuck is going on. This isn't high school anymore."
"Yeah, I know. Things would be much simpler to explain if they were..."
William reached into the backseat for a package wrapped in deerskin. He placed it on his lap and gingerly peeled back the animal hide to reveal a pair of bracelets hidden inside. Made from pale, wooden beads that were inscribed with strange symbols, they gave off a supernatural vibe. He brushed his fingers over the twin items. That icy grimace revisited Will's face.
"I fucked up, Grace. I'm sorry," he said, turning to stare at the girl he'd once loved, remorse stuck in his eyes, "You seem really at peace with yourself, too. More at peace than I could ever dream of for you, but-"
"You're not making any sense. Just tell me-"
"-but, you're the only witch in the world who can get these shackles to work! The fate of mankind depends on it. I...depend on it."
Grace shook her head, confused as hell, "What're you even talking about? Witches? Have you been getting high again??"
"Ha. I wish," William replied sadly, then grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the throat, "Please, forgive me for what I'm about to do."
Nobody heard Grace Baker screaming that October morning in the parking lot. Nobody had seen her leave the Grill, either. When the Mystic Falls police investigated her disappearance, they'd find nothing conclusive. Not even video footage. Nothing besides two blurry testimonies from Rich and Carol Lockwood that they'd seen her with someone earlier that evening. Although, they couldn't remember (for the life of them) who it was...
Only the rain was a witness to Grace's fate. And it couldn't tell anyone.

Oh, my God. I just read a TVD fanfiction - Marcel was female and was named Marcella by Klaus (later, she would go by Ella after faking her death to escape from Klaus) and Ella's relationship with the Mikaelsons was different than Marcel's. All of the Mikaelsons at the time treated her like family. Kol was not jealous of her, but he didn't really care about her. He pretty much ignored her existence. Elijah treated her like a daughter and taught her how to play the piano, but his relationship with Ella became strained after he realized Klaus was jealous, just like in canon. Rebekah and Ella had a sister-like and mother-daughter relationship. Rebekah loved dressing Ella up when she was 10, and Ella was devastated when Klaus daggered her for 52 years. Ella's relationship with Klaus was... weird. He was obsessed with her, even when she was a child. He'd control everything she did and limit her time with his siblings so that she was with him mostly. He gave her an education, and he taught her how to paint. And when she turned 18, he became even more obsessive and possessive. He fell in love with her and wanted to turn her into a vampire, but she was against it. He didn't care and turned her anyways, and she was forced to remain by his side, reluctantly allowing him to sleep with her and kiss her until 1918 when she brought Mikael to New Orleans to kill Klaus (in the story it was Ella, not Rebekah). And years later, in 2011, when he discovered that she was alive, he was ecstatic, but Ella was not. She yelled at him for turning her against her will, for raping her constantly, and compelling her. She also revealed that she was the one who brought Mikael to New Orleans. I didn't like the story because Klaus seemed a bit OOC. I don't think he's a rapist. None of the Mikaelsons seemed to be rapists. Sure, they've murdered innocent people, but I don't think they're that evil to resort to rape. Would Klaus turn his love interest against their will and compel them whenever he likes? Yes.
That fanfic sounds truly disgusting, I'm sorry. I don't judge people's writing, but the plot seems so fucked up.
Moving on to the rape debate, it's kinda hard to know if the Mikaelson are or aren't rapists considering they're well, evil. Klaus did try to sleep with Caroline while he was in Tyler's body, which it's sexual abuse because she did not know he wasn't her boyfriend, and while I don't think he would have went further aka actually having sex with her, it's still fucked up. We're talking about people who murdered, compelled and made everyone's life miserable simply because they could.
Do I think they're rapists, though? No, I certainly don't think they are. I don't see Elijah as a rapist at all, he's the least likely to do it in my eyes, Kol seems like the type who would see forcing himself on someone as an insult to himself or his abilities, and I believe the further Klaus could ever go apart from what he did as Tyler, is having sex with a person and then kill them, by either feeding or simply because he wanted to, literally what happened in season five while Hayley and him had a phone call (there was a dead naked body in his bed). And I don't see Rebekah, Freya or Finn as the rapist type at all.
But, of course, this is all up for debate. I get both sides.

It makes my stomach drop whenever people claim that Five is an asshole and selfish...
He's not an asshole and he is actually extremely selfless... I feel the people that just throw around that he's a selfish asshole just didn't pay attention to anything that he has gone through, what he has done, and what he has actually said out loud...
Yes, his thoughts and actions are always for his family, but not only just them, and he's stated that before. Even blatantly to his own family when they were at the hotel. He wants to save the world and his family both. His family has always been at the forefront of his mind, but so has the greater good.
When he felt the time line, his family, and the world and all of its innocent bystanders were safe, he was done messing with time. And when his family was unhappy and ungrateful and wanted him to snap his fingers so they could be happy and get exactly what they wanted he point blank told them that is wasn't about themselves anymore and that fucking around with time again was dangerous and would put a lot of lives at risk for selfish reasons. And he did feel for Allison and he even told her that he badly wanted to meet his niece, but he knew that Allison having her daughter again wasn't in the cards anymore and he did feel for her... He just didn't want to put so many people and his own family in danger again just for his family's happiness...
Five isn't selfish, but many of his family members are...
But just like his own family, many people in the tua fandom only want to point fingers at Five...
And if you've noticed, many of his siblings always talk shit about him either behind his back or to his face, point fingers at him, blame him for everything, dismiss him, grab him, gaslight him, and threaten him until suddenly they want something and then suddenly they are all about Five and want his help and are on his side for that specific second...
And it makes me heartbreakingly sad...
Five deserves so much better... It really seems like he cares so much about people that don't give a single shit about him until it's convenient. And I've said it many times before, I really feel that the only person out of his entire family that genuinely cares about him and tries to show it is Klaus. And even after everything and finally understanding that he was tricked and manipulated into killing her parents, Lila even tried to be there for Five in the bunker because she saw he needed someone.
I feel the people that have genuinely tried to be nice to Five without strings and ulterior motives have been Klaus, Elliott, Lila(after realizing he had saved her from the handler killing her and what happened in the bunker), and Hazel.

"The way the entire Hargreeves family is so quick to judge Allison for killing Harlan" - But they didn't? We were never shown their reaction to the news. Just their surprise at learning that he killed their mothers. Luther only objected to Allison using her powers on Viktor, while Diego objected to her going too far with her harsh words to Viktor. But we never saw them discussing Harlan's death and issuing either approval or condemnation.
Christ, I'm awful at typing half of one thing and half of the other when both are in my head at once. Thanks for bringing this up. The word "entire" was supposed to be about the decision to give up Harlan, not the judgment of Allison for how she went about it. I even let Diego, Lila, and Klaus off the hook in my tags, but that's just terrible organization and a lack of proofreading. Sorry about that. Here are the bits I'm talking about:
In 3.07, Allison is talking to Luther. She says she did what had to be done. Luther says, "I'm just saying. Should've been a family decision." It was a family decision. Which, I can get him being a little confused about things that happened that day, considering what else happened that day that would have shattered his trust in Allison.
Then later, Five uses her murder of Harlan as evidence she had something to do with Luther and Klaus' deaths. I get where he's coming from, but again, it's not exactly a fair assessment when it was a choice he'd been on board with, and he even compared it to what he did with the Board of Directors. He's seeing her erratic and angry and thinking that would be enough to make her knowingly work against the wellbeing of her siblings.
This is good writing. Characters should have a self-serving bias when it comes to how they see the world, because people have that, too. In Five's case, he's also got biology trying to keep him alive, so of course he's going to be looking for threats everywhere.

Diego agere headcanons
Regresses young and is almost never older than 4
Probably one of the most frequent regressors out of his siblings
He has been regressing since Ben died and has gotten a pretty solid handle on it during the years he lived alone. It's usually pretty easy for him to either put himself in or keep himself out of his headspace
He loves the feeling of being little and he knows for sure that it’s something that has really helped him over the years
Little Diego gets a bit clumsy in his movements but he is usually able to do most of the things big diego can even if he doesn't do them quite as neatly
His stutter usually comes back big time when he regresses and he prefers to babble or hum rather than talk
Little Diego is an absolute angel. He is inquisitive and always eager to help out
He does nap however he needs someone else to be in charge of making him go to sleep. If he’s regressed on his own he won’t realize he's tired and then wont take a nap until he gets super cranky and frustrated and has no choice but to give in to exhaustion
He loves physical touch when regressed and could happily spend his entire day curled up in someone's arms
He really likes the baby toys where you put the different shapes into their correct holes. He also loves stories and has a big collection of children's books. He gets excited about superhero cartoons as well and likes to mimic the fighting poses of the hero’s on the screen
Big puffed rice lover. He also really enjoys convenience store foods like pop tarts and twinkies. Thinks he never got to try when he was growing up
He owns a lot of bottles, sippy cups, and those no spill snack cups
He does have some toys. Some of them were gifts from Eudora that she got him while she was his caregiver and one of two are things that he bought himself. He has one or two lego sets and a couple hotwheels. He also has a lot of baby toys that make fun sounds or light up and an army of stuffed animals
When he said goodbye to Grace and left home she gave him a package with all of his baby things that she had managed to save and keep from reginald including the blue baby blanket he was swaddled in when he was brought to the academy. They are all very dear to him. Additionally, after Eudora's death the things that she had gifted him became precious. He was devastated when their time travel took him away from them for so long
He has to be dressed in loose soft clothing while little or he will whine and cry. If he doesn't manage to change before slipping fully into headspace then Diego will perform the toddler act of aggressively pulling off all of his clothing while acting like they are strangling him. Little diego also has so much beef with shoes for literally no reason
He has several pacis that he rotates through. He really can’t sleep without one in while regressed
He wears diapers or pull ups the majority of the time while little
He suspects that Grace knew about his regression when he first started doing it.
He tells Klaus (and by extension Ben) about his regression first and five finds out pretty soon after. Allison also figures it out pretty quickly. He tells Luther about his regression after finding out that Luther also regresses. He tells Viktor after he comes out in an attempt to try and start to rebuild trust between the two of them and as something of a peace offering. Lila clocks him as a regressor right away due to the fact that she also regresses but he didn't find out till much later.
Diego has always needed and wanted a caregiver. For a long time that was Eudora until their relationship fell apart. After that he and Lila made a deal to watch over one another while they were little. Eventually he started to allow his siblings to watch over him as well even eventually letting sparrow Ben watch him
He called Eudora mommy. After her death he couldn’t bring himself to use that title for anyone else. Lila is occasionally mama and he will usually use a butchered version of his siblings names when talking to them

FRUSTRATION !
Tumblr media
FIVE HARGREEVES X GN!READER PAIRING !
FIVE HARGREEVES MASTERLIST !
A/N: SOMEONE NEEDS TO STOP ME FROM PUTTING THE WEDDING SCENE IN EVERY FIC !
Tumblr media
Five knew exactly where and when the moment was when he fell in love with you. A wide grin on your face as you laughed at your fellow assassin's corny joke. You looked at them while he looked at you with a smile on his face. He didn't know why he was attracted to you, but one thing was sure, he loved your smile.
It lit up his gory day, it brightened every room you walked in on. Normally, for a person with your personality, he would've chopped their heads off in an instant, but with you, he'd be willing to make an exception. His demeanor contradicted your beaming attitude. The sunshine to his sunflower.
It wasn't easy to fall in love with you. A simple smile his way would make his knees give out and his heart beat vigorously. He wasn't obvious to it either and for years of loving you, you had yet to know about his attraction.
He admired your duality, killing people during the night, but making people laugh during the day. He admired your passion for the gruesome work you had to do. He admired your smile. He admired your ability to make people laugh quickly. He admired you.
He loved everything about you. From the way you talked, to the way you'd laugh whenever you were nervous or if you were in an awkward situation. He wasn't new to his feelings he embraced them, accepted them. He loved you and why should he hide that?
Five was incredibly grateful for you. He watched you with a smile on his face whenever you interacted with any of his siblings. He watched you with a smile on his face while you played with Diego's knives and often had to step in to pry you away from him.
He simply couldn't get enough of you. He knew your every part like the back of his hand. You were there when you comforted him about his painful breakup with Dolores. You were with him throughout it all, even the times he broke down from being tired.
Yet you were so oblivious. So oblivious to his clear feelings. It was as if you both were waiting for someone to make a move, the pride eating up your insides. It was a simple answer, you didn't know. Five wasn't clear about his feelings, he always would say his flirtatious comments toward you in a joking manner.
You saw it all with Five, from his teenage body to his older body. You both would often share one bed whenever there wasn't any left, would you still call that friends? You both acted as if you were a couple, would you still call that friends? You both would finish each other's sentences when someone couldn't find the right words to say, would you still call that as friends?
You chose to be that way. Oblivious until he confessed.
The Hargreeves siblings loved you, so far as to call you a new addition to their family, a new sibling. Five would immediately turn them down, offering a new way to call you their own.
“Ooh! What about a new sibling?” Klaus suggested from the couch, as he played with your hair that was sprawled out all across his lap. A wide smile immediately makes its way onto your face. “I like the sound of that.”
Five watched the whole interaction from the pillar his whole body leaned on, both of his hands in his pockets. He made his way in front of you and Klaus, a scowl on his face. “I don't like the sound of that. Absolutely not!” His hand already pulling you away from Klaus' warm body.
The others watched with a smile on their faces it was obvious to everyone but you that Five had some sort of attraction to you one way or another. “Why? Does it bother you?” Allison spoke out, pouring herself an alcoholic drink.
Five looked over to you, then to his hand that was intertwined with yours as you watched his every move. “Who would want to have Y/n as a sibling?” His hand immediately dropped next to his shorts that displayed his pasty knees as you happily made your way back to Klaus. Five, on the other hand, wasn't pleased.
A chorus of “I do's” filled the living room, answering Five's question. They really did, and they would have you as a part of their family in no time. They weren't perfect, but that was what made them interesting.
Five was frustrated with you. Even though he knew it was his fault that there wasn't something happening between the two of you.
And the moment you stepped out of that elevator, with your best attire, he lost it. You looked so amazing and he couldn't quite literally take his hands off you. His hands were all over the place. It didn't matter if it was on your thigh, on your head, or whether it was snaked around your waist. He couldn't get enough of you.
Five were intoxicated by both the alcoholic drink and your scent. He watched you with a smile on his face as you drunkenly danced on the slippery dance floor with his enemy that he grew to love, Lila. He watched you with a smile on his face as he watched you give out your speech to the newlyweds, but he couldn't hear anything that you said on that stage, because all he could stare at was you.
“Dance with me.” Five brought out a hand for you to take. It wasn't a question for you to answer, it was him forcing you to do it with him. He had enough alcohol in his body to make a move on you.
With a nod, you do as he pleases. Both hands wrapped around his nape while his both hands wrapped around your waist. Your mind thought back to the times you had to pretend and be a couple with Five while on a mission, and some even led to both of you swaying to the music, forgetting about the task at hand for a moment.
“Who knew Luther was the first one to get married out of all of us?” A laugh left your lips. The laugh he could never get tired of hearing.
“I thought I'd be the first one, with Dolores and all.” He rolled his eyes with a slight smile on his lips.
“I love weddings, but I'm the one always attending y'know?” It was a dream of yours. To be wedded at a beach or a garden with only a few family members and friends invited.
Comfortable silence lay steadily between the both of you, soft murmurs of people gossiping and the soft instrumental was the only music heard. It didn't occur to you that you and Five were the only ones on the dance floor. Not that you and Five cared. Time went incredibly slow when you were with him. You somehow wired your brain into thinking that he slows it down for you.
“Can I tell you something?” Five nervously tapped his foot on the floor, completely halting his movements.
“Of course, you can! I'm your friend, what happened?” A slight pang was delivered to his heart at your words. A friend is what you viewed him. Nothing more, nothing less.
He quickly blinked your body in a more secluded area, away from all the stares his siblings gave him that made him uncomfortable. He swore that he could hear Klaus shout a “They're finally doing it. Took them long enough.” before he blinked.
“Could never get used to that.” You could feel the food you ate earlier traveling up to your esophagus as you gagged.
“Did it ever occur to you that I'm more than just your friend?” He leaned back on the wallpaper covered with gorgeous leaves as he stared at you for what felt like an eternity.
Of course, you did. You never accepted your feelings, as opposed to Five who did. You never accepted any kind of romantic love that was thrown at you. Genuinely thinking that you weren't deserving of such type of love.
With your silence, Five continued. “We both know it.”
You sighed, sitting down on the floor in front of him, parallel to his position. “Know what?”
“Don't act so innocent.” He scoffed in disbelief at your words.
He mirrored your actions, the tip of his shoes touching the tip of yours. “I'm not, Five.”
“Bullshit.”
“I'm saying, there's nothing there.” Lies.
“That wouldn't explain anything.”
“Why do you care so much?” By now, both of you were standing up, faces mere inches from each other. His hot breath with a tinge of alcohol fanning your cheeks.
“Because I love you.” He took a pause. “Isn't that hard to understand?” He let out a sigh of relief from his confession, a weight instantly leaving his chest as he looked at your face for hints.
“Why would I even ask that question in the first place?” His voice a whisper, only for you to hear.
“Why would you think that I was dumb enough to not realize?” A wide smile breaking onto your face.
Five scanned your face once more, before mirroring the wide smile you had on yours. Your hands gently cupping his face, a thumb gliding across his cheek. “Dumbass.” Your voice high-pitched at the excitement.
“Your dumbass.” His voice slightly muffled from the kiss you gave him.

lila: so i'm an ex assasin/time traveller and this is my husband diego, he used to be a vigilante. we met when we escaped a mental asylum together in 1962. for the baby, if it's a girl we're thinking either anita or grace and if it's a boy we're going with elliott. what do you think?
hobie, under his breath: adopt me
lila: what?

-----
hobie and lila leaning so heavily into british slang when they talk to each other that nobody else has a clue what they're saying
-----
this interaction will not stop playing in my head:
five: so let me get this straight, you made a watch that allows you to travel through dimensions? that's so cool! i wonder if it functions in a similar way to my time travel? i Have to study it.
hobie: i didn't invent it, more like copied it. but i can tell you how it works if you want?
five: that would be amazing *dragging hobie by the arm upstairs into his room/"lab"*
klaus, calling out from the living room: remember to use a condom! teenage pregnancies are at an all time high right now and we don't want you to be another statistic!
five: sorry, that's my brother. he thinks he's a comedian.
-----
lyla and grace? LYLA AND LILA?
-----
also hobie would be majorly impressed with alison's civil rights efforts in the 60s
-----
