the reason why transfem elias is my favourite theory for gwendolyn is because think about the implications.

so let’s say this alternate universe reveals that elias is actually transgender, and would present/identify as female if they had the opportunity to figure themself out and transition (elias was reportedly very young when jonah possessed them)

then the idea that in the tma universe they not only didn’t live long enough to do that, but THEIR BODY WAS TAKEN OVER BY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THEN PRESENTED IN A MASCULINE WAY AND LIVED AS A MAN USING THEIR FACE AND BODY FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS?!? FUCKING TERRIFYING

as a trans person myself, even though the real elias was dead the dysphoria that idea gives me is absolutely unreal, and really creeps into serious body/existential horror territory which i think would be really interesting and very in-character for a writer like jonny to explore.

some random TMA worldbuilding speculation about five years too late, but here it is anyway: I used to wonder what the practical purpose of Artifact Storage was supposed to be. like, I know the in-universe reason for its existence was that the Institute was "researching" the artifacts, but by the end we know the Institute wasn't researching shit; Elias (and presumably the people in charge of the sister organizations) knew exactly what was up with all that crap all along.

then I realized: it's Elias's home garden. hoard a bunch of extremely scary and dangerous artifacts with very specific containment requirements, then put a few stressed-out academics in charge of keeping it all in order so you can passively feed on their fear. people who desperately want to believe that learning and knowing the behaviors of every item will be enough to keep them safe. it's a less effort-intensive version of what Peter does on the Tundra.

There are like two characters that are consistently not twink-ified and that’s Martin and Peter. Let the avatars be fat or conventually unattractive or whatever. Stop making them into twinks for the love of fuck.

If you can’t draw anything but skinny dudes, learn. Stop making everything into a fucking twink. Bring some body diversity into your goddamn horror podcast, this also goes for the women not all of them have to be on the lean or skinny side. This is actually getting infuriating. You can make things sexy or attractive and not have them be just fucking twinks.

Names can be weapons and Elias is well versed in using them against people. Like my cool mutual @rosalineandrosemary pointed out Melanie doesn't like Elias calling her by her first name and Basira isn't comfortable with being called Detective. He calls Jon the Archivist in the birthday tape because it's a way of telling Jon this was always meant to happen, this was always who he was meant to become

Except, this is the only time Elias calls Jon the Archivist when talking to him. Every time else it's his first name (he says Jon's name more than anyone else's btw). I think it's because he views Jon to be on the same level as him ("the world WE made") and for Elias he is always the person before he is an avatar of the Beholding. And the same applies to Jon

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that it's important to me that Elias calls Jon by his first name at all times

TMA season 1, except instead of coping with the feeling of being watched through stubbornly ignoring it altogether, Jon takes the route that he does with many of the Statements early on, where he denies anything supernatural, and instead comes up with a more mundane explanation for why he feels constantly watched and scrutinized: corporate surveillance.

Clearly, Elias must be watching him through the security cameras, waiting to see if he messes up, because he knows that Jon is underqualified for this job! Jon, of course, deals with this suspicion in a very normal way. Throughout work, he talks out loud, directly to Elias, under the assumption that he’s listening, and whenever Martin does anything at all ever, Jon looks directly into the security camera like he’s on The Office.

I just saw the eye above the exit door in your latest comic and just wanted to say that it was a really cool detail and I love seeing things like that, it makes me think about other places eyes could be hidden. Thank you for drawing :)

Elia Week: Day 2-> Princess & Knight
