tbh the fact that the game lets you like. kick diana allers out whenever you want and like really has this tone as a result thats like 'this character should piss you off for some reason' is like. Practically just weird metatext from 2012.

plagiarist’s work
credit where credit’s due - the bg of this (astronaut yjh) is a screenshot paint over of millennium actress. in true han sooyoung fashion, the subtitle line is stolen from there as well, though it’s my own amateur translation of it
thought it was oddly fitting, given both stories’ themes of fiction, metafiction, finding and defining yourself in terms of your actions, your love for someone else, how that shapes you and your story, etc… i could go on forever. argh.
if you haven’t watched millennium actress please watch millennium actress and if you haven’t read orv read orv ❤️

you know 99.99% of the time when a character is "the attractive one" in american tv or movies it doesnt work bc every other person on screen is also extremely conventionally attractive so it always feels a little silly that the rest of the cast is pretending this one person is so much hotter than them and out of their league bc there's always at least 6 other people who are equally if not more attractive than "the attractive one". but in challengers it actually works because that's zendaya

legitimately i think men underestimate how boring misogyny is in media. like yes it can be gross or uncomfortable or upsetting or whatever else but for the most part it’s just boring. like we know this stuff. it’s not sooo controversial and revolutionary and new to the scene and edgy. it’s violent sex and women not being treated as people. like we know. we’re already living in it babes. the fastest way to make a piece of media boring is to make it misogynistic. and this especially applies to fantasy for me, because you’re over here getting immersed in a different world with different types of people and places and societies and then it’s just oh, the author didn’t actually make anything new. they took what they know about the real world some hundred years ago and added magic powers. or this was all just a really long intro to a dnd themed porno. the male characters sacrifice complexity because their motivations are just.. misogyny. which is at its core very simple and unimaginative. rape or violence or degradation or abuse aren’t really all that shocking or complex to see on screen. they’re in loads of movies with varying levels of quality in handling and i’m not particularly upset by them. they’re in some of my favorite movies. this isn’t an issue of sensibilities or fear. it’s just so boring.

There have been a decent number of times where I get frustrated in Min-hwan's portrayal in the show compared to Soo-min's in that Soo-min seems more like the scary one while Min-hwan seems less threatening and comedic. Like, even when Min-hwan is being physically threatening or abusive, we get a scene shortly after where he's having his temper tantrums or flailing that we can kind of forget what he did earlier in the show. And then wham, the show gives us scenes like in today's episode that show just how more dangerous Min-hwan is.
Soo-min has done some fucked up and manipulative shit that has put Ji-won in danger, but I think today's episode really showed that Soo-min has some pretty severe mental health issues. She did a good job masking those mental health issues in the original timeline, but that was because she wasn't experiencing any stress and Ji-won was so dependent on her. But, in this new timeline, when Ji-won distances herself, Soo-min's "perfect" image goes away, and her life is falling apart, we can see Soo-min unraveling and spiraling.
But, man, Min-hwan can be an abusive and manipulative asshole. He might have been genuine with Ji-won in the beginning of their relationship, but he knew what to say and do to make Ji-won feel like he was amazing and be willing to stick around even when he started to become more controlling and abusive. And then we saw his manipulativeness in today's episode when he could see Soo-min unraveling and said the words he knew would get Soo-min to agree to marry him. And the fact that he said the same exact words to Soo-min that he did to Ji-won shows that he knows how to take advantage of someone who wants to be loved and wants to have a family. Min-hwan uses his childish and immature persona as a way to make people feel less threatened until he has them dependent enough on him that they stay no matter what abusive tactics he uses on them.
So, while Soo-min's mental health issues do not excuse her actions and how she's treated Ji-won, I am glad that the show does come back around to remind us just how much more dangerous and threatening Min-hwan actually is.

ok honestly I can't stop thinking about Sylvia noble. we know she's an extremely prideful woman, and especially when it comes to having her daughter's respect (even if she was too harsh in how she went about it, pre-metacrisis)
but as soon as all the metacrisis stuff happened, she throws herself into looking like a fool if it means that Donna won't remember. when Donna caught her yelling after wilf in the tardis, and asked if she was yelling at thin air, Sylvia just swallowed the embarrassment and said "... yes". and the whole first half of the star beast she's throwing her arms up in front of the doctor and the Meep and frantically saying "they aren't real, don't look at them" when even she knows how ridiculously stupid Donna must think she looks, denying the situation they're actively in
just something about a character who we grew to know as being so proud and stubborn. being willing to put every shred of her respectability (in Donna's mind) on the line, in an attempt to keep her daughter safe

It surprises me when people say Chapel doesn’t have a trait, personality, or plotline other than being Spock’s love interest... Let me list all the things we know and have seen about this amazing character.
Christine Chapel is a nurse on The Enterprise. She is on civilian exchange from the Stanford Morehouse Epigenetic Project. She is also a part of Starfleet’s initiative to better observe alien cultures without contamination.
M’Benga treats her as an equal. Pike called her “doctor” in the very first episode which suggests that her medical knowledge and experience must be impressive.
She is an expert on genetic modification. She can mess with your genome and temporarily turn you into an Alien. And she makes it look easy.
She is also interested in archeological medicine. She is doing fieldwork, making discoveries, and writing papers on the subject while doing her other duties on the ship.
Long story short she is quite the genius!
She is outgoing, friendly, witty, funny, adventurous, strong, brave but also compassionate and emotional.
She doesn’t judge, she accepts people for who they are.
She is confident in her abilities. She doesn’t take anyone’s BS. “I don’t think the Vulcan Fellowship is ready for me”… No one, not even Vulcans can bully or make her feel insecure.
But when she was a kid she was bullied. Milo, her Malamute, bit one of those bullies. Good boy!
As it was implied in one of the episodes she is most probably bi.
She has a vulnerable side. She is afraid of commitment. Afraid of romantic relationships getting deep. Perhaps even afraid of falling in love. She uses humor when things get too serious or personal for her. There is a story waiting to unfold in time. And i can’t wait to know more of it!
She was in the Klingon War with M'Benga. They witnessed the ugly face of war and had to make some hard decisions. They used (perhaps even developed) an illegal serum that temporarily gives them enough power and stamina to survive against Klingons. This left a scar on her as much as it did on M'Benga. We will revisit this story in episode 8 (i guess).
She knows how to fight. She is a quick thinker during stressful situations. And she is a badass. For example, she can handle space pirates and all she needs is a hypospray! She can deal with baby Gorns and survive!
She is heroic. She would jump into space without an EV suit to prevent a war.
Oh and she is also Spock's love interest and it's a delicious relationship that enrichens both characters.
This is what we got in 15 episodes. I'm sure we'll learn more about her and she will get new storylines in the seasons to come.
