A handful of burping scenarios, because I am too lazy to write an actual full story using any of them~~
Solo
* Someone accidentally cooks/orders way too much of something. But, for whatever reason, it can't be saved for later, they have nobody around to help them finish it, and they are very adamantly against wasting food, so they are left with no choice but to eat it all by themself. Their stomach protests against the large amount of food with groans and burps, but they power through the discomfort, making themself a thoroughly stuffed, burpy wreck. Damn their strong moral compass.
* A very anxious and squeamish person engages with some kind of horror media (video game, movie, book, take your pick), and they can hardly get halfway through it before they get spooked, which jostles their stomach. A belch catches them off guard, before more smaller burps force their way up, as the person tries to focus on their horror media of choice, further perpetuating the cycle. Bonus points if they're snacking on something while they do this, so they're just a lil' bit stuffed to boot.
* Someone has an upset stomach that keeps forcing burps out of them. Unfortunately, they have something to do that they can't back out of that takes place in public and lasts for the majority of the day. Not wanting to seem crass, they try to hold down every relentless burp that tries crawling up their throat, failing to do so a few times. Once they finally get home, they're eager to finally ease the ache in their stomach, and a hyperbolically ruinous belch rushes out of them as soon as they close their front door behind them, followed by countless more.
* Someone is put in a situation in which they are unable to eat all day, so naturally, once they are given the opportunity to finally eat, they greatly overestimate how much food an empty stomach actually requires. They manage to eat an absurd amount of their food before their stomach actually processes it, and begins to give them hell for it. They really don't want to waste the rest of their food, though, so they suffer through eating the rest of it, burping throughout as their stomach tries to make room for the increasing amount of food that is being stuffed into it.
* Someone feels themself getting a mildly upset, but still manageable, stomach, and decides to drink a ginger ale before their stomachache can get worse. They drink it rather fast, as well, because they have other things that they have to do afterwards. This person apparently does not understand how carbonation works, because the drink, obviously, bloats them up, ultimately making the ache in their tummy worse, and causing them to frequently burp as their belly tries to relieve itself from both the previous ache and the bubbles.
* This one's a bit spicy — Someone who has a burp kink (don't we all?) stuffs themself, but holds in their burps until they begin humping a pillow to get themself off. The movement causes their stuffed belly to rub against the pillow, which forces a belch out of them, that only adds to their pleasure. Every burp they let out trails off into a moan until they finally come. Unfortunately, their tummy hasn't been entirely emptied of the air, so they go back at it again.
Duo
* B cooks A a notably large meal, and A, being polite to a fault, feels compelled to eat every last bit of it, lest they unintentionally insult B's cooking abilities. Inevitably, A literally bites off more than they can chew, leaving them stuffed and failing to hold back burps. B notices, and feels responsible for nursing them back to health, despite A's protests, burping them until all of the air has been evacuated from their tummy, leaving their meal to digest in peace, before telling A that they don't have to eat so much next time. But also, that they made dessert as well, and it tastes best fresh.
* Somewhat similar to the last one — B has recently taken up cooking, and even though they're not overly good at it, A doesn't want to make them feel bad, so they eat the entirety of the first meal that B cooks all by themself. Not only do they end up stuffed, but something wasn't cooked properly, and valiantly disagrees with A's stomach, making them burp. B thinks that A just ate too much, until they try some of their own cooking, and immediately start caring for A's poor tummy, helping them relieve the pressure by burping them, and feeling immense guilt for making them unwell.
* A and B are sharing a bed/bedroom, when A's stomach starts acting up due to them eating too much before bed, and a rather forceful belch wakes them up. A tries to hold their burps down, not wanting to wake B up as well, causing their stomach to churn and groan. Alas, they eventually wake B up as well. B, hating to see A uncomfortable, and wanting to go back to sleep themself, helps A work up more burps until their tummy finally settles, and the pair can go back to sleep, as embarrassed as A may be.
* A and B have a date planned, but A's stomach begins to give them grief shortly before they're supposed to leave. They really want to see B, though, and don't want to flake out on them, so they go out anyway. Of course, they go somewhere to eat for their date, which only upsets A's stomach further. They try to hide their discomfort from B, but a few burps that they fail to hold back into the meal, B catches on, and takes them somewhere private (or not, if you're into that) to help them work the rest of the burps up, while chastising A for not telling them that they were feeling unwell in the first place.
* This one is very spicy, too, so be warned — A has been stuffed and is burping quite frequently. But, B previously expressed interest in A going down on them, and while B insists that A isn’t obligated to do so, especially while they're not feeling well, A still wants to make B feel good, so they proceed. During the act, A's overfull stomach being pressed and repeatedly rubbing into the surface beneath them forces a belch out of them, which catches both parties off guard. A pulls away in embarrassment, before B urges them to continue, not caring about the burp in the slightest because they were so close. A gets back to work, and more burps rumble against B's area, the vibrations bringing them closer to their climax.
Feel free to use these for inspiration if you want; credit would be greatly appreciated~~

Author’s notes: It’s the last of the oneshots before we get into S2! This was purely because I wanted to start S2 off with the armour changes being understood and so I didn’t have to describe them lol but I hope there’s more substance for y’all to enjoy! Big shout out to @hugmedin who helped me when I got hit with a bad bit of writer’s block and wrote a section of this, including my favourite line in this fic that had me freaking out when I read it, love you my guy!!
Tumblr media
“Okay! I have them! Ugh this is so heavy!”
You all turned your attention over to the loud thud and you smiled as you saw Lyra collapsed over the container she had previously been carrying. She’d only just managed to get it through the doorway. “You should’ve told us. We’d have helped you bring it over.” You said as you stood up and walked over to her.
“It’s part of the service.” Lyra panted as she stood up and smoothed down her top. “I think you guys will like what I’ve done.”
“Can you get that out the way? It’s blocking the entrance! We don’t have all day for this. I have my own business to run!” Cid said by way of greeting.
“You weren’t exaggerating.” Lyra muttered.
“Give it 6 months and you’ll be on mildly better terms.” You uttered back with grin.
“Oi! Either help her or get out of her way. It’s bad enough you’re using my place as your fitting rooms!” Cid barked over at you.
“Better terms?” Lyra said with a small laugh.
“I did say mildly.” You replied, grabbing the other side of the box, and lifting it over to where the rest of your squad had congregated in the corner.
“Are they finally ready?” Omega asked excitedly as she gave Tech the datapad back.
“Omega, we haven’t finished-”
“Come on, Tech! I can do it later!” Omega griped.
Tech sighed in defeat.
“A quick break won’t hurt Tech.” You appeased.
“Let me see!” Omega said.
“Okay kid, hang on.” Lyra said with a smile. She opened the box and began the process of handing the updated armour out. “I played around a bit with them.”
“How much?” Hunter and Echo asked warily as they took theirs from her.
“Don’t stress. It’ll all look perfect. I changed the colours and symbols as requested but I got rid of a couple things that weren’t really necessary. You guys have more civilian type clothing to wear underneath now, rather than just those blacks you’d handed over. And that means you don’t have to always change into these clothes you’re wearing now if you want to take your armour off. Oh, and your codpieces are gone.”
“You took away a whole section of our armour?” Tech asked sceptically as he took his.
“They were annoying me.” She replied simply. “And I don’t think you’re in a position to act like it’s a super crucial piece you’re missing. You don’t have any thigh armour. That wasn’t a change I made, that was all you.” She added pointedly.
Tech opened his mouth to protest but he couldn’t think of a rebuttal fast enough.
You chuckled as you watched Tech walk away, mumbling something under his breath about how it suits his needs just fine.
“Where’s mine?” Omega asked eagerly.
“Alright kid. Here you go.” Lyra passed the pile of clothes over to Omega who grabbed them keenly and dashed off to change.
“Did I see a hat?” You asked as you watched her turn the corner.
“It makes the outfit.” Lyra replied with a smile.
You laughed. “I won’t question your style.”
“Good. Cause now it’s your turn.”
“You only changed the colour, right?”
“In a way…”
“Lyra…”
“Calm down. It’s nothing crazy. I still kept the hood and mask element you like. I just started from scratch. The top you bought from me before isn’t really suitable for what you do. I didn’t realise you operated with no armour at all. If I gave you the original one back, it would only be a matter of time before you had rips in it. I’m surprised it was in one piece for so long.”
“Okay… so?”
“So, I got my hands on this new material that is generally just sturdier so that’ll help, and you have some armour of your own.”
“Armour?” You said sceptically as you watched her reach down.
“Not a lot.” She reassured you. “I figured you liked the freedom of movement, it’s just a couple of things. Here’s the top.”
You took it from her, and you could already tell that it was better quality. The black fabric was thick but when you put it over your head, it fit snugly but still allowed for flexible movement. The mask and hood were indeed still there and where your previous top had red lining on the outside, this one now had a turquoise. Your eyes also noted the small white half skull that seemed to have been another element that was carried over. “And this was an essential thing you needed to keep?” You said, pointing to the sign.
Lyra grinned. “You both like it and don’t try to deny it.”
You rolled your eyes but smiled with her. “This is perfect though, thanks!”
“I’m not done.” She handed over the additional pieces to your ensemble.
You took the small parts of armour she’d give you. They were black and decorated with a mix of white and turquoise stripes. You also realised they were like the ones Hunter wore on his forearms. She’d also added a pair of black gloves.
“This means you’re also getting rid of that horrendous thing keeping that vibroblade on your thigh.” Lyra ordered.
“There’s nothing wrong with it!” You said defensively, glancing down to your thigh where your vibroblade was encased. Sure, the strap was fraying, and it was no longer the same colour as it was when you had first got it and some of the leather was showing cracks, but it served its purpose just fine. Plus, it had been with you through a lot of highs and lows and although a mantra throughout your life had been ‘no attachments,’ you had found that both Hunter and this strap were exceptions to the rule and you were rather fond of it.
Lyra just gave you a sad look. “Look at it. It’s disgusting. Throw it in here and never think about it again.” She insisted, turning the box towards you.
You sighed and chucked your vibroblade on the table before you threw your old strap into the empty container. You attached the new pieces to your forearms before you sheathed your vibroblade into the one on your left arm. You then put the next pieces that ran from your shoulders to the end of your upper arm. You were annoyed to find that Lyra was right, and you didn’t feel restricted by having them there.
“And you told me yourself your blaster holster is a hand-me-down from Tech. Put that one away too.”
“You were just waiting for a chance to upgrade my stuff weren’t you?” You grumbled as you took your blaster out and removed your holster. It joined your old vibroblade strap.
“Oh yeah.” Lyra said with a smug smile.
You attached the new holster to your thigh and put your blaster in it. “Happy now?” You asked, gesturing up and down your body.
“You look hot!” Lyra said as she circled you, studying how you looked with the new parts on.
“Shut up.” You laughed, slightly flustered.
“Your sergeant is a lucky guy. How’d your secret project got by the way?”
Before you could reply, a shout got both of your attention.
“We’re ready! I love it!”
You turned to the sound of Omega’s voice, and you grinned as you saw her delighted expression. It had been a while since Kamino and Omega had definitely grown so it was about time she had something that fit with that, and she did now. She had grey bottoms and a red top which was worn underneath a light blue layer, and she had red fabric wrapped around her right wrist. The hat was a cute touch as well. The rest of your squad also looked pretty good. It was odd though, seeing them in colours that weren’t the signature ones they used wear and any insignia illustrating them being Clone Force 99 being gone.
Lyra clapped her hands together. “I truly outdid myself! You guys look fabulous!”
“Yeah, you guys look great!” You added.
Wrecker and Omega beamed, whilst Tech and Echo merely gave small nods.
“You look great too!” Omega said as she walked over to you.
“Yeah, Hunter’s got colours like that too. You guys’ll look good!” Wrecker added.
You smiled and rolled your eyes. “Speaking of that, where is our fearless leader?” You asked.
“He wanted to rearrange the scarf.” Echo replied.
“Scarf?” You repeated, your throat going dry. You looked over to Lyra.
She shrugged. “I like accessories. Sue me.”
You turned your head over to the sound of Hunter coming back into the main area and it took everything in you not to stare at him for an abnormal amount of time. His armour, like the rest of theirs had maintained most of its original structure-minus the codpiece- and his colours were indeed similar to the ones you had. He had the more civilian looking clothes underneath with the rest of his armour donning a mix of black, white, and turquoise. He had the same bit of orange running down the centre of his chest plate like his brothers had and his helmet still had half of it painted white to match the skull tattoo on his face. The red wrappings around his wrists mirrored the one Omega had and the red scarf… well the scarf was definitely a nice added feature.
Hunter nearly did a double take as he saw you. You looked… well you looked powerful, capable. Not that you didn’t look like that already but there was something about seeing you with actual armour that accentuated that part of you. Plus, the fact he was wearing colours that matched with yours was an added bonus.
“Well, my work here is done!” Lyra said cheerily as she bent down to grab the now empty case.
Hunter tore his eyes away from you and nodded his thanks to her before he saw that you were still looking at him. “What?” He asked as he joined the others and grabbed a drink. He brought his cup to his lips.
“Nothing. Looks good.” You said casually, turning away to follow Lyra out. Just thinking of all the things a scarf can do that a bandana can’t.
The choked splutter that followed had you smirking to yourself as you walked out the door.
--
“You sure we don’t owe you anything for this?” You double checked as you both stood outside the entrance to Cid’s.
Lyra shook her head. “You guys helped me out when I was being harassed by Marco and his goons. We’re even now.”
“Yeah, but getting to beat up Marco and Co is fun.” You said lightly. “You don’t need to repay us for that.”
“I wanted to. Besides, it was actually kinda fun. I haven’t had a project like that to work on in a while. Just point people in my direction if they ask who did this fabulous work and we’re all good.”
You huffed out a laugh. “You got it. I’ll see you around, Lyra. Thank you.”
“Yeah, see you around!” She grabbed her stuff and walked away.
You fished the necklace out your pocket and studied the small symbol on the end of the black leather cord.  It wouldn’t be noticeable under his clothes and armour. You just hoped he would like it.
--
You and Hunter seemed to find any excuse to gravitate towards one another and touch each other, even if it was nothing more than a simple touch that lasted a matter of seconds. Yes, you’d started it with your comment about the scarf, but he really wasn’t helping with things. The air between the two of you had been charged ever since you’d walked back down those steps and now every touch sent warmth flooding through you, and you were sure it was the same for him. To the others, the hand wrapped around your shoulder seemed completely innocent since you were all engaged in casual conversations, but it sent a thrumming through your veins you couldn’t control. And, judging by the way he’d tensed up when you’d laid your hand on his thigh, you weren’t the only one. You all had shed your armour since Cid didn’t have a mission so that definitely wasn’t making things any easier for you.
It felt like a test. Who was going to be the one to give in first? You really didn’t want it to be you and you think you had a way to do that. As Wrecker and Omega got up to go play a game of Dejarik, with Tech and Echo going to watch, you turned to face him. “Can I talk to you outside?”
Hunter looked at you quizzically but nodded and followed you as you stood up.
You made your way to the exit.
“Where are you going?” Omega asked as she waited for Wrecker to make his move.
“We’ll be back.” You replied.
--
“Everything okay?” Hunter asked as you began to pace in front of him.
“Yes. I just- Look I’m- What I’m trying-.” You stopped with an aggravated huff. You’d rehearsed this countless times in your head, and it wasn’t a big deal, worst he could say was no.
“Sweetheart.” Hunter grabbed your wrist to get you to stop walking. “Take a breath, look at me.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. “Don’t call me that.”
Hunter tilted his head. “Why not? You usually don’t mind it. In fact, you tend to quite enjoy it.” He added with a smirk.
You shot him a playful glare and removed his hand which had worked its way to your waist. “Yes, exactly. You’re distracting me and I have a plan here. You’re not going to ruin it with your-” You didn’t finish your sentence, you just gestured to him.
Hunter held his hands up in mock surrender and leaned against the edge of the entry way.
You inhaled deeply and started pacing again. “I consider myself a pretty independent person, you know? Not one to be dependent on much, certainly not a man in my life. But then you come along, and suddenly I’m finding particular things I thought I would hate, quite, well, quite attractive. Take this for example.” You pointed to the half skull on your top. “I was convinced I would hate it, but I don’t. I don’t mind the message it sends.” You stopped and faced him. “However, I can’t just be what this suggests. You’re a part of me, the whole squad is, but I don’t want to be seen as someone whose only purpose is to belong to you.”
Hunter straightened up as he addressed you. “I know that. If I’ve given you reason to believe otherwise, I’m sorry. I’m sure Lyra could change it. I didn’t mean-”
“Hunter, I know.” You reassured him. “That’s not what I’m saying. I only mean I thought it would be nice if you maybe had something that- uh.” You broke off with an awkward cough before you continued, “Represented me.”  You brought the necklace out and handed it to him.
“Where’d you make that?” Hunter asked quietly as he studied the necklace which had attached to it a tiny metallic symbol. A symbol he’d seen many times during the Clone Wars. It was the symbol for the Jedi Order.
“Lyra gave me access to her stuff. Don’t worry, she didn’t know exactly what I was doing.” You added quickly as you saw the concern that flashed across his face. You looked down at the ground and scuffed the toe of your boot through the dirt. “Do you like it? I know it’s a bit risky but figured you could conceal it easily enough and I-” The strong hands on your waist that guided you backwards to the wall cut you off. You glanced up but before you could take your next breath, Hunter’s lips met yours and what little resistance you had left crumbled, but hey, technically he kissed you first, so you counted it as a win. You let him press his body tight to yours and you kissed him eagerly. You like it then?
Hunter didn’t answer directly. He just kissed along your jaw and nipped the skin by the spot behind your ear that he knew would elicit a moan from you and you didn’t disappoint. “Do you have any idea what you do to me?” He said, still out of breath and his voice even lower than what it usually was.
You released a sigh and your head fell back against the wall as he continued to leave marks on the skin of your neck. I have a pretty good idea.
“I’m serious.” He slid his hand on your cheek, so you were forced to look at him and he very nearly lost it. Your eyes were wide, and your breathing was still uneven, and he wanted nothing more than to continue but he needed to say this first. “From the minute you showed up on Devaron to help, I was enthralled by you. You took out a line of droids with nothing more than a slightly longer vibroblade on your back and acted like it was a regular day. Sure, later on we discovered there was a bit more reason behind that.”
You smiled slightly but your eyes dipped down as a wave of guilt washed over you at the memory of your dishonesty.
“Hey.” Hunter said softly as he saw your mind leave the current moment. He tucked his finger under your chin and angled your face back up. “That’s not why I brought it up. Don’t go back there. Stick with me here cause there’s a point to all this, I promise.”
You sighed and nodded.
Hunter breathed deeply. “You were incredible and there was no hesitation from me, or the others quite frankly, when it came to offering a place with us. I just underestimated the impact you were going to have on my life. It didn’t take long for my brothers to start giving me a hard time, but I was too stubborn to listen.”
Join the club.
He smiled at you before he continued. “Remember, when there was that stampede of Reeks and I got hurt. It was about two months after you’d joined us?” When he saw you nod, he carried on, “You remember how I got injured?”
“The last dregs of the Separatist droids sent a final charge our way. The blast meant I slipped and fell into the cavern where they were running. You came after me and pushed me out the way.” You said softly.
“Yeah, I did. I- I was in love with you then.”
“Well, then we were on very similar timelines.” You revealed with a smile.
Hunter huffed out a laugh. “So, fast forward to now. You’re wearing something that ties you to me and I don’t think you realise exactly the effect that has on me. And then I come out to see I’m wearing the same the colours you are. And to top it off, you’re asking me to wear something that ties me to you? I can say with no hesitation that you’re a part of me too.” With that, he looped it over his neck.
You took a shaky breath as you watched him put it on and you understood why the half skull on your top had meant so much to him. “You think the colours thing only mattered to you? Why do you think I had to give it to you now?” You murmured. “You were killing me in there.”
Hunter nuzzled into your neck. “That why you dragged me out here? Couldn’t wait?” He muttered into your skin and began to place light kisses on your neck, altering what side had his attention.
“That why you followed me out here?” You countered as you struggled to keep your composure.
“I thought you wanted to talk.” Hunter replied, his eyes lifting to yours, an unspoken challenge behind them.
“I-I did talk.” You maintained.
“And now?”
“And now I’m done.” You grabbed the front of his shirt and kissed him with fervour. And I’m counting this as a win. You broke first.
Hunter chuckled and moved so his lips brushed against your jawline again as his hand trailed from your cheek down to your neck where it stopped for a moment before he continued, and his palm came to rest on the left side of your chest. Your heartbeat pounded beneath his fingertips.
You didn’t let him linger there too long. Wrapping your hands around the back of his neck, you pulled him in even closer and bucked your hips forward into him in an attempt to banish the remaining space between the two of you. As you did so Hunter let out a moan into the crook of your neck and the resulting vibrations sent your mind to mush. Your hands frantically grabbed at his shirt, the fabric bunching in between your fingers as you tried to bring him even closer. You let out a frustrated moan, you felt like he was holding back, and you were losing patience.
Hunter let out a soft chuckle and you could feel his smile against your skin, genuine and unfiltered. “Relax.”  he whispered into your ear. “I’m right here.”
Your hands slid from his waist up the length of his back, his muscles rigid but warm against your palm. You nipped at his ear, your hips still bucking into him, and you’d never been more thankful that Lyra had gotten rid of the cod pieces, but it also meant you became more and more desperate.
“I need you closer.” Your voice came out strained as you looked up at him and you made no attempt to disguise your desire as you continued to press yourself against him.
“That can be arranged.”
The lights in the alleyway were dim but you could have sworn you saw a glimmer form in his eyes, the kind that only appeared when the two of you were alone. Upon seeing that, all sensible thoughts about the risks of doing this in public left your head completely.
Bending down ever so slightly he brought both his hands to the back of your thighs lifting you up against the wall in one swift movement. Instinctively, you wrapped your legs around his waist as he held you in position against the wall. Your fingers found themselves wrapped up in Hunter’s hair which you used to gently tug his face away from where he was placing deep kisses along your collarbone. He let out a deep sigh which caught in his throat and resembled something close to a growl. As you held his head there you allowed yourself a moment to admire the way his eyes had grown darker, and his chest and shoulders heaved as he caught his breath. His lips remained parted as he patiently waited for instructions from you. Removing your hand from his hair you brought it back to caress his tattooed cheek, this time allowing your thumb to softly trail his lower lip.
He drew you into a deep kiss, the kind that left your lips raw and your lungs begging for oxygen that you swore you could definitely live without - but eventually you had to give into your reflex and come up for air.
Hunter broke away first, bringing his forehead to rest tenderly against yours. His hands reached under your top; his gloved hands caressed your skin. “You sure about doing this here? I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop once-”
Yes. You nodded eagerly but before you were able to continue, a horrified shout got both of your attention.
“Ugh are you kidding me! You two really couldn’t wait?! Ugh my eyes!” Wrecker complained as he instantly turned away from the scene in front of him.
Hunter quickly let you down and he was sure your mortified expression matched his and you both turned to face the backs of Wrecker and Echo.
“Oh, uh, hey boys. What, eh, what brings you out here?” You winced out as you adjusted your top.
At the sound of your feet hitting the ground, Echo turned to face you both and gave a disapproving stare. “Omega is about to play Tech and wanted to see if any of you wanted the next round so, we came out to ask. She nearly left to ask herself, but I figured based on past experience-”
“Okay.” Hunter interrupted him before he went any further.
You can turn around, Wrecker.
Wrecker took you at your word. “What happened to talking?”
“I mean… we did talk. Just got a bit carried away.” Your eyes focused on fiddling with the end of your sleeve.
“I’ll say.” Wrecker griped.
“That’s the third time this month. We’ve talked about this. It was bad enough when Tech interrupted you guys in the cockpit.” Echo chastised you both.
Hunter couldn’t find any words. He just kept his eyes on the ground.
“Hey, you didn’t have to listen to the lecture he gave afterwards on the importance of hygiene and sanitation.” You grumbled.
“You’ve been lucky it hasn’t been Omega yet.” Echo continued, paying little attention to your words.
You knew he was right. The two of you had been pretty reckless lately and the very fact Omega hadn’t been one of the unfortunates to witness said reckless moments is something you thanked the Force for. “I’m sorry, we’ll be better.”
“Yeah, sorry boys. It won’t happen again.” Hunter said firmly.
A few beats of uncomfortable silence passed.
“You guys aren’t coming back down any time soon, are you?” Echo asked reluctantly as he nodded to where both of your hands were.
The two of you hadn’t noticed the new places your hands had found themselves in. Your fingers were lightly tracing up and down Hunter’s arm whilst his had found itself around your waist again and his thumb rubbed up and down your side. Upon hearing Echo’s words, you both glanced at each other. Tell Omega I owe her a game. We’ll be back later tonight. You said in a way of reply, your brain slowly starting to block the presence of the other two out.
Echo sighed tiredly. “Just get out of here. Come on, Wrecker. We probably don’t want to linger here much longer.”
“Don’t have to tell me twice.” Wrecker hastily turned on his heels and walked back down the steps to Cid’s, with Echo following close behind.
“Well… that could’ve been worse.” You mumbled into his shoulder after they left before you trailed a line of kisses along his neck, your teeth lightly grazed his skin.
“I can’t say I can see how. That was- that was pretty awkward.” Hunter managed to stammer out.
“I could’ve been in a more compromising position.” You purred as your hand trailed down his chest and you made to kneel in front of him. You knew he was feeling more sensible, and you definitely knew it was better to head back to the Marauder but that didn’t mean you couldn’t have your fun.
He swiftly tugged you back up and shook his head at you as he saw the cat-like grin on your face. “Careful, or I’ll have to continue this here anyway.” Hunter groaned as you slowly ground your hips against him.
“Promises, promises.” You whispered back, tugging his lip between your teeth and you took pleasure in the low moan that left him. Your hands kept a tangled grip in the scarf as you kissed him and tugged him to you.
Before he really did get too carried away, Hunter pulled away, but he still kept you tight to him. “I believe you had some thoughts for the use of this scarf? I got some ideas.” Hunter rasped.
“Hmm, I’m much more of a practical learner.” You hummed against his lips.
Stifling a groan, Hunter kissed you once more before he wrapped an arm around your waist and the two of you hustled away to the Marauder.

Girl ok so I blind ordered 2 dif scents this month and the first one I was supposed to get like 2 weeks ago and never came and i was devastated but couldn’t do much about it since due to my strange address this happens all the time. I didn’t want to bother the seller to refund me bc it isn’t their fault that the usps is two blocks from my house and still can’t get our address right ykwim which is. But anyway so I ordered a second one something different right ok so the 2nd one came and I was so excited and the bottle was huge and so pretty so i sprayed it on my knee bc I don’t want it too close to my face in case I don’t like it that much and I am so sad to say I actually couldn’t stand it and I was so sad I was literally devastated AGAIN like two L’s kn a row one I never got and one I didn’t like and the one I didn’t like had unfortunately SUCH staying power like in any other fragrance I’d be so excited!! Bc it lasts but it reminded me so much of like my mom and triggering notes that I tried twice to wash it off and couldn’t get it off so that was like. Traumatizing and disappointing to be clear it doesn’t smell bad i just have bad associations w the profile of it and don’t know how I didn’t realize that would happen because I ordered it after checking out what notes it had and it seemed like something that should have been right up my alley or I wouldn’t have blind bought it must just be a specific note or layering I don’t know how to identify and avoid idk idk
BUT
Today!!!!! The first fragrance that was lost in the mail weeks ago SHOWED UP with a totally unrelated thing I ordered and I finally got to try it. And bitch it smells so good and it smells EVEN BETTER ON MY SKIN
I smell like literal caramel like a white girl Starbucks drink … someone better slurp me up immediately it oxidized so intoxicatingly on my skin I’m obsessed……. Like I’m not a gourmand girlie usually but this is . Holy fuck, I would eat me ALIVE
if a girl walked by me on the street wearing this I’d be drooling
Like a Tom and Jerry cartoon I’d be dragging my knuckles on the ground behind her with heart eyes I’m gay for myself rn
Anyway this is it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s the chai epice and it smells more like actual chai when first sprayed but after a few minutes everything spicy about it mostly melts away and what’s left is the marshmallow caramel which again, is normally not my vibe but I’m just, it’s so yummy
It’s like vanilla ice cream and it is just so hot here. That is the vibe yk
having worked in a caramel manufacturing company I am deeply familiar with this scent profile we used to make it in fresh batches in a giant copper cauldron that you stir constantly with a 4ft wooden scraper for four hours. like a witch. Caramel days were always great days to be an opener bc you smell it all morning and then I used to get the last of the batch that’s like the extra caramelized sticky sugar syrup from the bottom of the batch that’s almost burnt because it stayed at the bottom thickening while the rest was portioned out so it can’t be bottled and sold like the rest. Only a little bit of it would be like this just the scrapings of the vat so I’d keep a container and put a few ounces in my espresso bc the roast on the beans covers up the mildly burnt sugar perfectly and the sauce is warm and thick like honey
Anyway fragrance reminds me of that except meanwhile I’m not wiping tables or flipping chairs or calibrating the grinders or temping sauces or wiping spilled milk the closers missed out of the lowboys. So it’s better. Lmao

#BENNETT
he has tried cooking for you on multiple occasions but it’s always been barely eatable at best so far (ToT) even though he’s trying so hard!!
he swears it’s gonna be good every single time but it just never is…and he’s always so upset when it tastes bad :(( it’s truly heartbreaking-
he always feels so bad when you still try to eat it, too (ू˃̣̣̣̣̣̣︿˂̣̣̣̣̣̣ ू)!!
“n-no, don’t keep eating it!! you’ll get poisoned or something please-“
for your birthday he tried out a few different dishes and got razor and barbara to try them before he gave them to you…both suffered minor tummy aches but at least your portion tasted good, right? (╯︵╰,)
also!! baking is completely off the table with him, the last time he tried the oven broke and the cake he pulled out was simultaneously burned and raw (๑•́ 3₋•̩̥̀๑) 。。。
#CHILDE
he’s so competitive, you’re not sure if it’s cute or annoying sometimes- ( ´◉‿ゝ◉`) 。。。
like, if you master a new recipe or a new fighting technique, he’ll try his absolute darnest to learn it as well and to be better than you- :’)
and if he succeeds? get ready for him to tease you endlessly, “ah, look at that, baby! do you need help with that? don’t be afraid to ask, i know it’s hard to master! well, it wasn’t that hard for me, but you know~” he’s so proud pls
but if he fails? dear archons, if he fails?! he’s pouting and grumbling about it for the rest of the day (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`)
“hey, it’s fine! don’t worry too much, you’re-“
“it’s not fine!” >:(((
but don’t worry!! it’s nothing a few kisses can’t fix (*≧∀≦*)
#CHONGYUN
no one - not even chongyun! - knows why he always tries your spicy food (`・∀・´)
he knows it’s bad for him, but he has this almost ?? primal ?? instinct to try anything and everything you eat - he’s a strong believer in “what’s mine is yours, and what’s yours is mine”, especially when it comes to food-
it’s become a habit between the two of you to share any food with each other, and unfortunately for poor chongyun, you do tend to eat hot and/or spicy food ( ゚д゚)
so, sometimes, he just takes a bite of your food without realising that it’s hot and….let’s just say it’s quite the show each time (°▽°)
the worst part, though? the fact that he’s like a trusty puppy that almost immediately forgets about it and still tries to eat it again like a week later- (;ω;`)
#KAZUHA
he picked up woodcarving and began carving little figurines for you (*´∀`*)
some of them are cute animals or flowers, others are a little…questionable? he gave you a tiny carved hilichurl once and your were just ??? (・・?) we kill them?? hello?
kazuha just enjoys having something to do, and carving little figurines is the perfect hobby: he can talk to you while also making something for you - it’s the perfect pastime, kaedehara kazuha approved! ( ̄∇ ̄)
you love him and his little figured but it’s gotten to a point where you have a whole shelf full of them (´-ω-`) they’re cute!! but…
…it’s pretty awkward when someone visits for the first time and you have to explain that you’re in fact not collecting tiny hilichurl figures, but that it’s actually your boyfriend who makes them _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):
#THOMA
he loves hiding your stuff ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
like, there genuinely is no other way to really say it - he just takes your stuff and hides it somewhere- ( ͒ ඉ .̫ ඉ ͒)
thoma finds it weirdly adorable when you’re frantically running around, searching whatever he hid from you this time… he loves your focused, mildly panicked expression!!
he’s always the one to find whatever your looking for without fail!! what a coincidence~
of course he can’t help you for free!! he’s a busy man taking care of the kamisato residence, so his seeking service has a price - usually, a few kissies will suffice ʕ→ᴥ←ʔ
once you realise it’s him though…nothing really changes because now it’s just a game between you two!! you’ll hide it from him and he’ll hide it from you (・ε・`*)
#XIAO
he doesn’t really know how to express himself or how to act most of the time. he’s trying really hard, but it’s still hard for him to pick up on some things ( •́દ•̩̥̀ )
for example, he doesn’t know what to do when you’re upset - whether it’s because of him or something else doesn’t matter, he’s simply overwhelmed and doesn’t know what to do
well, until he noticed how excited you get over flowers. since then, he’s always running off to pick flowers if he notices that you’re upset-
he even went to liyue harbour once to get some roses he otherwise wouldn’t be able to get after he was unnecessarily mean to you (๑˃̥̩̥̥̥̥̆ಐ˂̩̩̥̥̩̥̆৭)
he knows flowers aren’t a fix it all solution, but they make your eyes grow soft and always, without fail, make you smile so…can you really blame him for depending on them :((
#XINGQIU
he doesn’t really let anyone but you read his unfinished novels ( ̄・ω・ ̄)
he’ll show you every time he worked on them for a while, simply because he enjoys your input
it doesn’t matter if you don’t have much to say or if you’re not particularly a novel person - he simply enjoys sharing his passion with you
there are two characters in his novel, which just so happen to be a couple, that seem to be a little too similar to you an xingqiu for it to be a coincidence…but would he ever admit it? absolutely not!( ・`ー・´) +
your opinion is always the most important one to him. whenever he is suffering from writers block, you’re his source of motivation and inspiration, but pssshhh!! that’s a secret, that’s way too cheesy for him to admit Ψ( `▽´ )Ψ
#ZHONGLI
you see, he really enjoys simple, small things now!!
he actually has a tiny mushroom farm and every time they’re big enough he gets really excited and looks forward to eating them (๑>◡<๑)
the problem is that he doesn’t really know how to cook them? yes there are many dishes he could make, but he wants it to be special!! they’re his tiny mushrooms!! he grew them!!
so don’t be surprised when you see him chatting with some of the grannies, all of them giving him tips and little pointer on how to best prepare them- (✿╹◡╹)
“look at that, my dear. they’re growing quite well, no?”, while he’s holding the mushrooms right in your face, your eyes still blurry from being shaken awake ( ̄・ω・ ̄)~

Our Favorites Handling Bellyaches
I imagine that a lot of our favorites tend to deal with indigestion in very different ways, which can lead to amusing and appealing scenarios.  And since folks tend to enjoy these posts most, figured I’d whip up a new one for y’all.  :P
And for the sake of not going insane, I’ll keep it to one character per series:
Leona Kingscholar (Twisted Wonderland):  Leona has a really strong stomach and canonically stuffs himself constantly.  A full belly tends to just make him really sleepy.  But every once in a while, given his love of exotic, expensive foods, Leona eats something that doesn’t agree with his stomach.  This usually kills his ravenous appetite and leaves his usually concave, slightly toned stomach looking a little puffed out and gurgling deeply.  When this happens, Leona will hiss to himself with a mildly strained and annoyed look on his face, really firmly rubbing his belly with one hand; firm enough that he’s riding his shirt up and exposing his tanned middle while his fingers really dig into it to settle it down, hissing about his indigestion being a huge pain in his ass, as always.  He’ll give a few guttural burps, trying to ease as much pressure in his belly as he can, but they tend to get more rumbly and wet-sounding if he’s feeling mildly nauseous, which don’t bring him any relief.  And if he’s letting a few out in a row, Leona may end up burping so hard that his throat hitches, and he immediately clamps his mouth shut, as if he’s about to throw up.  It eventually passes, but that’s the telltale sign that he’s gotta ease up.  Fortunately, if the Prefect catches him pretending his gut isn’t bothering him, they’ll start rubbing his burbling belly which never fails to calm it down.  He’ll groan about how Herbivores are good for something besides eating, and give a familiar ‘rumble’ in his chest that, if the Prefect ever uttered a word to anyone else about...would be the death of them.  Fortunately, if they relax Leona enough, he’ll be too busy catching a much needed catnap to maim them.  On the veeeeery rare instance where Leona DOES eat too much, his belly will be spiling out to the point where it’s completely hiking up his shirt and forcing him to spread his thighs apart because that’s how much food it will take to actually give Leona a bellyache.  In that instance, Leona will be groaning miserably and punctuating his fullness by burping so forcefully that the ground itself feels like it quivers.  When he’s that full and feeling his belly churning so hard it hurts, Leona will groggily call out to whoever he can, be it the Prefect or Ruggie, whoever gets to him fastest.  Then he’ll demand they rub his belly or he’ll swallow them whole the first chance he gets.  Ruggie tends to get cheeky and when he does, Leona shuts that shit down by grabbing him by the throat and burping enormously in Ruggie’s face, leaving Ruggie coughing while Leona growls that he can still make room for dessert.
Katsuki Bakugou (My Hero Academia):  Bakugou canonically loves extra spicy food, downs a lot of soda and tends to eat very ravenously.  He’s smart enough to know his limits, but he’s a stubborn lil timebomb sometimes, and will always eat past his limits to spite anyone who ever said he couldn’t.  And that usually leaves him groaning miserably while his bulging, churning belly groans intensely from being so abused.  When he’s overstuffed and suffering indigestion, Bakugou will slump back in his seat miserably, tug his tanktop up and firmly run his hands up and down his bloated middle, hoping to ease the cramps in his stomach lining.  While rubbing, Bakugou will press down on his belly and work up some really deep, throaty belches.  These are really thick, hefty sounding burps that give him a sliver of relief, until he eventually slaps his belly as hard as he can and burps so loudly that you’d swear there was an earthquake.  And THOSE monsters always leave his toes curling and his head lulled back with a loud, relieved moan and a satisfied pat to his taut, rounded belly.  If he ate something that didn’t agree with him, then like Leona, Bakugou’s abs thin out and get very mildly bloated and feel like they’re vibrating with how hard his belly churns.  Bakugou gets even pissier than usual, snapping at people to fuck off, but groaning miserably the whole while.  He’ll knead into his gut firmly, always tugging his shirt up and exposing his bare belly while he tries to circulate the gas up with his firm touch.  Bakugou always tries to burp out the nausea, desperate to work up the biggest belch he can to bring some desperately needed relief.  He’ll slap his exposed belly repeatedly until the gas comes out forcefully, or gulp down air to belch on command, which he can do loud enough to give some relief.  But on rare occasions, he’s burped too hard and ended up vomiting profusely instead.  He always gets really angry if that happens and threatens to explode the living shit out of anyone who looks down on him for throwing up.
William James Moriarty (Moriarty the Patriot):  William has a pretty strong stomach, because everything about him is measured and disciplined.  And he has nerves of absolute steel, which means anxiety never becomes a factor.  However, William is no stranger to vices.  He’s quite partial to sweets and though he isn’t a heavy drinker the way Sebastian is, anytime he and Sherlock go out to the pub, Liam can’t help but get competitive with his soulmate.  Or he eats something exotic that simply doesn’t agree with him.  If he drinks too much, William actually ends up getting the hiccups.  One of the only times Sherlock has ever seen his beloved Liam blush was when a loud, high-pitched *HIC!!!* erupted from the young mathematicians mouth, leaving him covering his lips with slightly widened eyes.  After that, William tries to keep his hiccuping stifled with his mouth closed.  This causes his stomach to jerk around a lot, which doesn’t sit well for the poor red-eyed devil, especially if he’s got a belly full of beer, sloshing around inside the organ heavily.  That can lead to some hiccups turning into deep “hiccurrrrps” instead, which rumble in his mouth audibly.  Anytime he muffles a belch in his mouth brought on by all the spasms, William will excuse himself under his breath, and try to hold said breath so the hiccup-fits pass, subtly massaging his stomach or throat if he’s hiccuping too much.  If he just ate something that didn’t agree with him, William’s mask-like face won’t give much away.  He’ll still appear blank, even smiling at you as needed.  But if you look carefully, you’ll see beads of sweat forming from how badly his stomach is aching.  The gurgles it gives aren’t loud, but they’re forceful.  He’ll carry on like nothing’s wrong, and when no one is looking, subtly use his fingertips to knead circles into his belly to try and settle it down.  Or he’ll turn to some of Louis’ much-needed tea to try and settle his gut.  If Louis hears Brother William comment on his stomach giving him grief, he’ll take it upon himself to rub William’s belly to make it feel better (not in "that” way because...hell-fuck-no).  If SHERLOCK hears William comment on a bit of indigestion, he’ll have more fun with it, unbuttoning Liam’s shirt and exposing his lean stomach as they sit down together in private with Sherlock rubbing Liam’s belly sensually and occasionally resting his ear against William’s warm stomach, listening to it gurgle and making some analytical comments on the sounds and what it says about Liam.  Sherlock is surprisingly delicate when rubbing Liam’s belly, but he’s got a cheeky side, so he’ll occasionally knead a little harder and get William muffling a much deeper belch so he can tease him.  William will get back at him by smiling and very gently asserting that Sherlock must have some kind of fetish, getting him sputtering, and William back in control as always.  :P
Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail):  Of all the characters on this list, Natsu’s the one we’ve canonically seen suffering from bellyaches the most.  He gets them from motion sickness, and can get them from eating way too much.  If he’s feeling nauseous because he’s on a train or a caravan, his abs puff out slightly, but of the bunch, Natsu is the most overt and crippled by his aching belly.  Whereas Leona is annoyed, William is subtle and Bakugou is really gassy, Natsu is groaning miserably, green in the gills, and puffing out his cheeks like he’s on the verge of vomiting at any moment.  He’ll whine and whimper pitifully, begging Lucy for belly rubs, and she’ll always give it to him, unable to say no...aaaaaaaand not wanting to see him puke his guts out.  XD  He’ll rest his spiky head on Lucy’s shoulder, huffing breathlessly while she very carefully navigates his abs with her fingertips, kneading and caressing that rock-hard belly while he groans, both in pain AND in pleasure.  But from time to time, he gets a really bad stomachache from just eating WAY too much.  In doing so, he’s sporting a huge, jiggling gut which sloshes heavily with every step he takes, since the fire in his belly works down his meals way faster than an average person.  He’ll announce how overstuffed he is with a giant belch, and a miserable groan.  Like the first instance, Natsu will be whining at Lucy to rub his belly, but it’s punctuated by his glutted belly churning noisily and Natsu occasionally interrupting himself with an incredibly deep and throaty burp.  Lucy has taken to rubbing Natsu’s belly outside of her apartment when it’s REALLY noisy, because that gurgling tends to mean there’s a lot of gas festering inside, and what she’s taken to doing is pressing against Natsu’s belly until he unleashes a HUGE, fiery belch...and she’ll keep pressing into Natsu’s belly, making him burp and again as the plume of fire grows weaker each time, until eventually, he’s just burping up smoke.  That tends to give Natsu some MUCH needed relief, which leaves him more docile as he slumps back and eventually dozes off.  But Luce is NOT letting that fiery ditz burn her roof down again...
Killer Croc (Batman):  Croc‘s canonically a huge glutton and canonically very prone to nausea. He doesn’t do well with heights at all, and on multiple occasions, has eaten things which don’t agree with his scaly gut one iota.  If it’s a height thing, then unfortunately, Croc’s inevitably gonna puke.  There hasn’t been a single instance where Croc complains about not feeling so hot in the comics where he DIDN’T throw up.  In the comics, he tends to burp wetly a few times first, but that eventually leads to him throwing up violently, and a few times in a row...which Harley certainly has a field day with.  If he ate something that isn’t sitting right, Croc will let out a really throaty burp and cover his mouth after, worried that he’s on the verge of puking because he can taste whatever he just ate on his burp, or complains that something came up with that one.  In these instances, if someone rubs Croc’s belly, they can settle it down and keep him from spewing.  Whenever Croc’s got something not sitting right, it’s usually not the only thing he’s eaten, meaning his gut is probably pretty bloated. I love to imagine Croc with a paunchy, doughy belly (thanks to a certain @horriblehooter) but his scaly stomach will still look visibly distended, and be pushing his pants down a little.  So when someone rubs Croc’s belly, their fingers will sink into his bellyfat a little while they run their hands up and down that scaly gut and knead into it.  This will get Croc groaning pleasurably, giving a rumble in his chest not unlike Leona’s, just way more beastly in nature.  The rubbing will occasionally work up a beefy belch, and if that person really presses into Croc’s belly, he’ll let loose a HUGE burp that gets the ground itself almost rattling.  But those will give Croc some MUCH needed relief...aaaaaand more than likely cause him to belch up the remnants of his last meal, usually their bones...
Gilbert Nightray (Pandora Hearts):  Gil’s definitely the sort to suffer from indigestion the most.   He gets the most worked up out of anyone within Pandora, aaaand he’s kind of the whiniest (one of many reasons why I love this unwitting cinnamon bun).  Usually, it’s because he’s eaten too much, drank too much, or because he’s just too worked up to the point where he’s given himself a stomachache.  We saw in that fluff episode, Gilbert gets the hiccups pretty frequently when he’s drunk, and if he drank too much, poor Gil’s gonna be a hiccuping mess which is eventually gonna lead to him crawling on the ground, cradling his stomach and hiccuping / whimpering pitifully, before he starts crying and whining that he’s a huge lightweight...which he is.  If he ate too much, Gil’s stomach doesn’t get nearly as big as anyone else on this list.  He’s the sort who, at his worst, gets a really tight and taut bloat that presses his belly out and feels really heavy for him.  That leaves him wincing in pain and sweating bullets as Gil tries to massaging his aching belly, and insisting he doesn’t need any help.  But Oz being Oz, he’ll immediately plant his hands on Gil’s belly and start rubbing, which will leave Gil blushing furiously, and looking away to try and mask how good it feels.  But because Oz is also something of a troll, he’ll wait until Gil is in the middle of saying something then press on his belly so Gil ends up accidentally burping mid-conversation, or even accidentally burping part of his sentence out, which always leaves him mortified while Alice scoffs and says she could top those in her sleep.  If he’s got an anxiety-induced stomachache, Gil occasionally tries smoking to calm his nerves, but with his gut giving him grief, that tends to make it worse, and leaves him coughing up a bunch of smoke comically.  On occasion, Oz still rubs Gil’s stomach to try and settle it and offering words that will ease Gil’s anxieties.  This will always soften Gil up and leave him trying his best not to get sappy with his young master and best friend-o.  :P
Cloud Strife (FFVII Remake):  Cloud’s canonically got a weak stomach, especially when it comes to motion sickness.  Him riding Chocobos will leave him cradling his stomach and lurching miserably.  And in the process of getting nauseous, Cloud will get really wet burps that gurgle up his throat so hard he covers his mouth and lurches like he’s trying so desperately hard not to throw up on the spot.  He’s like Natsu, in that he’s very weak to indigestion, groaning and burping too much to even really talk at all, mumbling that his stomach hurts really badly.  Someone rubbing his back or rubbing his belly will settle him down, but only if the ride is over.  If he’s already nauseous and still has more of a trip to go, he either needs a really long break, or he’s gonna eventually throw up.  Ironically, he can pack it away like a champ, but is still prone to eating too much from time to time as well.  In those instances, someone settling up close and leaning against him to rub his belly will make all the difference in the world.  Because Cloud is your stereotypical loner, but he’s also quite starved for physical affection and contact.  Rubbing his belly will circulate gas up, but Cloud will turn his head and muffle any burps he feels rumbling up his throat, unless he REALLY needs to get it out, in which case...brace yourself.  ;)
Link (LoZ: Breath of the Wild):  Link‘s now a canonical glutton and I love that.  He’s also canonically prone to getting some serious indigestion brought on by experimental cooking gone horribly wrong.  Link will eat freakin’ ANYTHING now, and I love it.  I freakin’ LOVE it.  But that also means he eats things that are just awful.  And when he does, Link is a miserable mess, slumped over, groaning and burping while cradling his aching belly, which is pooching out beneath his tunic because the glutton of time knew what he was eating was awful...and still ate ALL of it.  Some potions will help settle Link’s stomach in instances like that.  Or he’ll ride it out and let a warm campfire bake near his belly to settle it.  Zelda, often times, will delicately slip her hand underneath Link’s tunic and shirt and start rubbing his belly from beneath the tunic to calm it more directly.  And whenever he gets a belly rub, Link has the most adorably docile smile on his face as he hums and leans in to Zelda’s touch.
If there are any other characters you’d like to see covered, hit up the ask box, folks!  :)

HxH Domestic Fluff Headcannons
these are just some cute and fluffy (kinda spicy?) head cannons for Feitan, Hisoka, and Chrollo with a fem!reader
a/n   please send in requests and feedback. I love doing head cannons and really want to improve my writing for y’all,
sincerely Coffee
Tumblr media
Chrollo Lucilfer
-  Chrollo would have never thought that he’d settle down with someone. In truth, he’s still surprised that he did. It’s not that he doesn’t love you, he would kill for you, but he’s surprised that you managed to stick with him for this long
-  This sexy man loves you so much
- he's never really felt this strongly about anyone in his whole life. He’d usually just fuck someone to get what he needs and then get the hell out of there. Honestly, he didn’t think he needed anyone being the busy leader that he is
- With you he feels so many more unfamiliar and strong emotions. He knew a few months into being in a relationship that he wanted to marry you, he was very sure about you being the one.
- However, this level of love only comes due to how much trust he has in you. At the beginning of your relationship it was dishonest for him. He had a mask, but that didn’t protect him from the eventual feelings he developed. It took him a bit of time to drop his guard, but once that happens he’s all yours.
- He doesn’t admit it, but he loves it when you call him your husband. Having a ring on your finger makes him feel more secure that you truly belong to him too. that possessive mf
- you’d have the be very patient and accepting of him and his line of work. He still goes about his spider business, even after marriage, although he tries to make it less obvious now, for your own peace of mind.
- He enjoys coming home to you cooking a beautiful meal and waiting for him on the couch. No one in his life has ever put as much thought and effort into things for him as you do.
- Will still spoil you. Your gaze lingering on that bracelet in the store too long? it’s already wrapped up and on the bed for you.
- If he thinks he pissed you off even a little bit, he’ll try to give you something as an apology. You don’t really care, preferring to just be with him.
- morning kisses! You’ll often find yourself waking up to him kissing you on your forehead, neck, and cheeks. He loves seeing you blush and act shy when he does this
- these morning kisses will have a 50/50 chance of leading to more. it’s usually lazy and sensual, but it’s what both of you need before heading off to the shower together and then taking care of the day’s events.
- He loves cuddling so much, it’s insane. He might act like he’d be the big spoon, but that’s just not happening. You’ll be watching a movie together at night and he’ll be making himself comfortable with his back against your chest. In truth, Chrollo loves being held by you
- Don’t get me wrong, he’s still going to be topping you like 80% of the time, but he really loves just taking in your warmth and the comfort you give him. Coming from Meteor City, he’s never felt as safe as when you’re holding him.
- Likes burying his face into your hair and just inhaling your scent. It’s so intoxicating for him.
- Sometimes when you two are sitting in bed he’ll read to you or let you read over his shoulder. You two would probably be reading the same literature and talking about it as a nice calm activity together.
- He’s never really considered a family before, but after marriage he’d go into a slight baby fever. he 100% has a breeding kink
- He saw you holding a family member’s young child once and something in him definitely changed. You don’t mind though. One kid would definitely not be enough for him.
- Overall, a married Chrollo continues to pamper you and will always see you as his whole world. The amount of trust and love he has for you will only grow through the years.
Tumblr media
Hisoka Morow
- Honestly, Hisoka isn’t settling down with anyone seriously anytime soon, but for the right person he would perhaps put in some effort in his own way
- that being said, if he does ever get into a serious relationship he’d be like a house cat.
- you’ll be doing chores around the house and he’d come behind you for attention until you stop doing the dishes and cuddle with him
- With Hisoka, he’s either always giving you affection or will be ignoring you. There is truly no in between
- don’t go seeking attention and kisses. If you initiate he’ll be mildly annoyed and won’t indulge you. He is a massive tease and will start initiating affection at the worst times
- you’re busy with work? Too bad. He’s horny and wants to take you on the desk right now. trying to fold the clothes from the dryer? you better do it with his arms wrapped around your waist and him breathing down your neck.
- His method of affection will be neck kisses and hands wrapped around your waist. He’s not too into holding hands or cuddling.
- He has a weird obsession with calling you sickly sweet pet names until you get annoyed. he definitely won’t stop even if you get pissed off by it
- dates with him are also truly something else. He’s pretty clueless about what normal couples do. Some dates can be sweet, with him taking you to an expensive dinner or a romantic walk around town. Other times they be weird, with him taking you to a random abandoned lot and making out with you for an hour.
- Hisoka is incredibly possessive in public. He’ll be clutching onto you if anyone starts looking and flirting with you. you are HIS and it pisses him off that someone doesn’t realize this.
- which is exactly why he likes the idea of marrying you. He can make it official that you belong to him. PDA will increase so much after you get married.
- He also leaves way more hickies on your neck. He loves to make sure people know that you are his.
- When you two are getting ready in the mornings he’ll teach you how to apply makeup. Always gets the best stuff for you, he steals it sometimes, but he pretends he doesn’t know. Seriously though, he’s great with hair styling and tries to teach you all his tricks.
- This sexy clown will be a shitty gift giver. He forgets some important dates, but makes up for it with hastily bought presents. also eats you out as an apology
- He’s pretty stubborn, so when you get into real arguments don’t expect him to beg for you back. He’s going to be pouty and ignore you. All you have to do though is ignore him back and eventually he gets frustrated enough to pin you against something and fuck you right there.
- He refuses to have kids. That’s just not his style. He’d rather you and him had an easy to maintain pet that doesn’t require much work
- If you do end up getting pregnant, he’ll be displeased and most likely won’t alter any of his actions. He warms up to the idea later on, but initially it’s pretty rough getting him on board the idea of a family
- Hisoka is a strange lover to be married to, but he does love and care for you in his own ways.
Tumblr media
Feitan Portor
- Don’t expect many words from him. If you want to hear “I Love You” and other words of comfort, it would be incredibly rare and only ever when he’s really tired and not quite in control of his demeanor.
- He would only want to settle down with you if you were self reliant. He’s not always going to be there so you need to take care of yourself
- You would probably also be a Spider or some form of assassin/hunter. He needs to be able to know that you can take down enemies when he’s not with you. You being able to beat down enemies turns him on so much.
- Feitan also probably sees marriage as an unnecessary formality. You’d probably be dating for a while, so why do you need a piece of paper telling you how much you love each other? If you wanted it though, he wouldn’t protest too much.
- He’s not COMPLETELY devoid of emotions though. He still loves you very much. His form of affection comes from small changes in his body language and the little things he does
- He will remember important dates and occasionally give a word of praise on those days. This lack of affection is definitely not because he doesn’t love you, but rather because he just does not know what to do when it comes to romance
- His form of romance also comes in more romantic sex. We all know that Feitan is a kinky mf, but after being with you for so long, he mellows out a bit. He worships your body however you want as his main form of reassurance
- Sometimes with urging from the rest of the Troupe he tries to bring you things you’d enjoy. Will get you some form of matching clothing or maybe a practical knife.
- He actually gets you a cat on your birthday. He’ll act like he didn’t plan it, but he knew you wanted to take care of something while he was gone. Pretends he hates the cat, but they’re really similar and get along well.
- Due to his background and upbringing, trusting and physical contact is foreign and unnatural to him. It would take a lot of time together and loving nights for him to finally let you cuddle and have him kiss you often
- After you two break that barrier he can’t stop holding your hand, touching your waist, giving you forehead kisses. he is so touch starved, give him love
- Will probably never seriously consider children. In your lines of work it would be too dangerous with not much of a benefit. That being said though, if you do end up getting pregnant he won’t protest too hard
- The kid will end up growing on him though. He definitely doesn’t want more though, one is more than enough for him. Will secretly find it adorable when his son or daughter calls him dad. He will teach your kid how to torture and interrogate someone in 10 minutes.
- He loves the family you two have and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Be patient with him and he would take a bullet for you

Subject: Coffee?
Hi Monica,
It’s Dana, from pathology. I was wondering if you’d like to get coffee tomorrow around lunchtime? I have a break in classes from 11-2, so anywhere in there would be fine.
I hope things are going well with VICAP.

Subject: Wednesday/Thursday
Hi,
I’m mildly shocked that you hadn’t already emailed me before I got in today. Are you alive?
If you’d like to meet up for lunch or coffee this week, I can do Wednesday or Thursday, sometime in the 11-3 timeframe. Let me know which works for you and I’ll block the time out so nothing else ends up on my schedule.

Hi Dana,
I’m so glad you reached out. I’d love to get coffee tomorrow; I can meet you just outside the autopsy bay at 1pm, if that works?
I look forward to it.

Subject: RE:Wednesday/Thursday
Hi Scully,
I see that my exceptional self control has paid off in spades. I am alive, and have resisted emailing you this morning through a combination of sheer will and a two-hour budget meeting.
Wednesday sounds perfect, I’ll be there at noon. Don’t ask me how many hours that is from now because I haven’t calculated it and I have no idea.
———
About an hour after returning from her coffee date with Monica, which was very pleasant and is something she hopes to repeat, she starts to feel just a little bit achy. She pushes through the rest of her work for the day and by the time she slumps through her apartment door at six, there’s no denying that she’s sick. She takes some Tylenol and goes to bed, hoping it will have passed in the morning, but when she wakes up it’s even worse. She calls in sick to work and goes back to sleep.
When she wakes again, the phone is ringing. She ignores it, only for it to start ringing again the moment the machine picks up. Dragging herself out of bed with a pained moan, she trudges to the hallway, retrieving the cordless phone and walking back to her bedroom as she answers.
“Hello?”
“Scully! Are you okay?”
“What? Yes. Mulder?” She burrows herself back under the covers with the phone tucked against her ear.
“Yes, it’s me, you didn’t answer my emails all morning and never showed up for our coffee date. I was worried.”
“Shit, Mulder, I’m sorry. I came down with something yesterday and called out sick. I totally forgot we were having coffee today.”
“You’re sick?” he asks, clear concern in his voice.
“Yes, just a virus or something, I’ll be fine.”
“Can I bring you something? Soup? Juice? Bad movies?”
She chuckles a little. “No, you don’t need to do that.”
“Who's gonna take care of you?”
“Mulder, I’m a grown adult with a cold, I can take care of myself.”
“Are you sure?” She can tell by his tone that he wants to do this more for himself than for her.
“Yes, I’m sure. I don’t want you to see me all sick and disgusting, Mulder. It’s too soon to ruin your image of me,” she says somewhat sarcastically.
“Seeing you sick is not going to change how I feel about you, Scully,” he says very tenderly, and she knows he means it. Still, she doesn’t like the idea.
“I’ll call you tomorrow, okay? Sorry to make you drive an hour for nothing. Rain check?”
He sighs noisily. “Okay, fine. I think you inadvertently left ‘stubborn’ off your list of flaws, though.”
“Well, I didn’t want to ruin all the surprises,” she replies with a smile.
He reluctantly says goodbye, and as soon as he hangs up, she calls the first number on her speed dial.
“Hello,” calls Missy in her typical singsong greeting.
“Missy, can you come over?” she whines, little sister mode in full effect, “I’m sick.”
Missy arrives forty five minutes later and fusses around, gathering a glass of water, Tylenol, and the thermometer that is buried in the bottom of a bathroom drawer. Dana has relocated to the couch, and makes a face around the thermometer propped under her tongue when Missy sets four crystals of different shapes and colors on the coffee table, along with two herb-filled capsules. The thermometer beeps angrily and Missy plucks it out of her mouth, shaking her head.
“One hundred and two,” she says with a frown, “here, take these,” she holds out two Tylenol and two of the herb capsules with a glass of water.
Dana takes the Tylenol and leaves the others.
“Whatever those are, I’m not taking them. And you can pack up your crystals,” she says to Missy as she pops the Tylenol and chases them with a big gulp of water.
“They’re just echinacea, Sis, they won't kill you. And neither will the crystals.”
“But they also won’t help,” Dana says dryly, setting her water on the coffee table and burrowing back under her blanket.
“Well, I’ll just leave them right here,” Missy says, standing and going to the kitchen. “Why’d you call me, anyway? Shouldn’t playing sick maid be Mulder’s job now?” She’s looking through cupboards, pulling out a pot and a can of soup.
“It’s too soon for him to see me all congested and disgusting,” Dana replies, stifling a shiver. “He wanted to come over, but I told him not to.”
There’s a knock at the door. Dana sits up, exchanging confused looks with Missy.
“Did you order food?” Dana asks, and Missy shakes her head, moving to the door.
Dana watches from the couch as Missy opens the door to find no one on the other side. She looks at the floor, then down the hall one direction and the other. She stoops down and picks something up, then walks back to the couch with a paper bag.
“What is that?” Dana asks, and Missy shrugs, setting it on the coffee table and sitting at Dana’s feet. There’s a sheet of paper stapled to the bag, and Missy plucks it off, opening it while Dana explores the contents; a carton of tom kah gai soup.
Missy’s face is a mask of confusion as she reads whatever is written on the paper.
“What does it say?” Dana asks, and Missy hands it to her.
Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own: in pain and sickness it would still be dear. Your mind is my treasure, and if it were broken, it would be my treasure still.
Dana’s chin puckers as her bottom lip sticks out in a pout. “Oh my god,” she gushes, “it’s Mulder.”
“What the hell does this mean?” Missy asks, taking the paper back and reading it again. “Does he write poetry or something?”
“No,” Dana answers, pulling the lid off the container and breathing in the spicy coconut smell, “it’s a quote from Jane Eyre.”
“Oh my god,” Missy says with a disgusted look, “you two really are meant for each other. This is sickening, Dana, you realize that, right?”
Dana is smiling, taking sips of the hot Thai chicken soup that he somehow knew she needed. “Yes, he’s also a giant nerd, if that’s what you’re saying. But beyond that, I don’t think we have much of anything in common, actually.”
“You both work for the FBI,” Missy offers.
“Yes, but in totally different areas. And he’s an atheist, and believes in unverifiable phenomena like aliens and spontaneous human combustion. And he’s impulsive and easy going, and he makes decisions with his gut,” Dana lists off Mulder’s attributes like she’s describing the trim level on a car. He’s cute, and he has a leather interior.
“Well, I certainly wouldn’t use any of those words to describe you,” Missy says pointedly, setting the note on the table, where Dana plucks it back up and reads it again. “But there’s something to be said for being with someone who’s different from you.”
“I don’t really buy into the idea of ‘opposites attract,’” Dana says flatly. “I think that’s just a lie people tell themselves to justify horribly mismatched partnerships.”
“I think ‘opposites attract’ implies that your qualities clash, like the odd couple. One is messy and the other is clean,” Missy replies, propping her elbow on the back of the couch. “But I heard about this idea of ‘perfect opposites’ which is more like someone who complements you, or helps kind of level you out. So perhaps you lean to the extreme in some areas where Mulder leans to the other extreme, and you learn to meet somewhere in the middle.”
Dana gives her a doubtful look. “What is the middle between believing wholeheartedly that Bigfoot exists, and knowing that he doesn’t?”
Missy takes this under serious consideration. “I think,” she says without a hint of sarcasm, “that the medium would be accepting that it’s possible that he exists, and possible he doesn’t, but there's no way to know for sure.”
“So a Bigfoot agnostic?” Dana asks, and Missy nods in confirmation.
Dana shakes her head. “Maybe you should have gone out with him, I think you two might be better suited.”
“Don’t give me any ideas,” Missy says with a coy smile. “Speaking of which, does he have any single friends?”
Dana shrugs around a gulp of soup. “I don’t know, I haven’t met any of his friends.”
“Well, when you do, keep an eye out would ya? Now that I’ve lost my single buddy, I may as well get back out there. God knows it’s torture enough hearing your lurid tales from the bedroom.”
“Missy, I haven’t told you a single lurid tale,” Dana chastises.
“I know, what’s up with that?” Missy retorts in mock offense, “speaking of, what happened when he took you out to dinner Sunday night?”
Dana shakes her head.
“Oh come on, Dana. I have no life, let me live vicariously,” Missy whines.
Dana shakes her head again. “The only thing I’ll say is; maybe don’t eat off the kitchen counter,” she says before giving Missy a guilty look.
Missy’s mouth drops open.
“Wow, I’m not sure if I’m more grossed out or jealous,” she says as she stands, “I’m gonna get out of here, if you’re good. I think I need to go pick up a guy at a bar for some meaningless sex.”
“Yeah, I’m okay. Thanks for coming by. If you need a condom there are some in the bathroom,” she adds with a sarcastic smile, and Missy sneers at her.
“Ha, ha,” Missy replies as she slips on her shoes and opens the door, “last time I checked, you can’t get pregnant from a vibrator.”
Dana gives her a sympathetic pout and Missy pulls the door closed behind her.
———
It’s a quarter past eight when the phone rings, and he pushes Priscilla onto the floor to retrieve it from his desk.
“Hello?”
“I can’t find it,” says a garbled voice.
“Hello?” he asks again, “who is this?”
“It’s really cold. It’s also too hot,” the voice says around a sound like fabric moving over the mouthpiece.
“Scully?”
“Yes?”
“Are you okay?”
There’s a pause. “Mulder?”
“Yeah, I’m here. Are you okay?”
“Mulder, where are you?”
“I’m at home. You called me at home. Is Missy there?”
“No, she had to take her vibrator to a bar,” she answers, and it’s clear that she’s completely delirious.
“Scully, I’m coming over,” he says, standing up to find his shoes and wallet. “Hey, Scully, I need you to do something for me, okay?”
“Hmmm?”
“Can you stand up, and walk to your front door?”
She sighs. “That’s very far.”
“I know it is, but I need you to unlock the door so I can get in. I don’t think your super would be very happy if I broke it down.”
He hears her groan and her voice becomes quieter, then disappears. He waits, and just when he thinks she may have hung up, she picks the phone back up.
“Hello?”
“Hey, did you unlock the door?”
“Mulder?”
“Yes, it’s me.”
“Mulder, where are you?”
He snickers a little. “I’m on my way over, did you unlock the door?”
“I...I don’t remember,” she says, and she sounds exhausted.
“That’s okay, go back to bed. I’ll figure it out. See you soon, okay?”
“Okay, bye, Mulder.”
He waits but the line doesn’t go dead. He hears her shuffle around a bit and then it’s quiet for a long time. Setting the phone on its cradle, he drives over to her apartment.
The door is, thankfully, unlocked, and all the lights are off.
“Scully?” he calls out, not wanting to scare her. “Scully, are you awake?”
When he gets no response, he slips off his shoes and makes his way to her bedroom, calling out her name intermittently. He finds her twisted up in her sheets, and one touch to her forehead has him jerk his hand away with how hot she is. He strips the blankets off of her, finding her in only a T-shirt and panties underneath. Next he finds a washcloth in the bathroom and soaks it with cold water, then grabs two Tylenol and a glass of water. When he returns to the bedroom and drapes the cloth over her forehead, she starts and opens her eyes momentarily, but then closes them again.
“Scully,” he says softly, shaking her shoulder, “I need you to wake up, honey. I need you to take these.”
Her eyes open slowly and she blinks at him with heavy lids.
“Mulder?” she asks groggily, and he gives her a sympathetic smile.
“I’m here. Can you sit up and take these?”
He helps her prop herself up just enough to swallow the Tylenol and a sip of water before she collapses back against the pillows.
“I feel like shit,” she complains, but her eyes are already closed and she’s on her way back to sleep.
“I know. Get some rest. I’ll be here.”
———
She wakes up to harsh beams of sun pouring directly through her eyelids. Her first thought is that Ethan forgot to close the blinds again, but then she remembers that she and Ethan aren't together anymore and he doesn’t live here, so she must have forgotten to close them. She moves to roll out of bed and is met with the shock of aching muscles, and remembers that she had been raging with fever last night. She probably shouldn’t have let Missy leave, but thankfully the fever seems to have broken during the night. She rolls away from the window, no longer motivated to get up and close the blinds, and finds herself nose to nose with a sleeping Mulder.
“What the hell?” she says out loud, and he opens his eyes and smiles at her.
“Hi,” he says softly, “how do you feel?”
She gives him a perplexed expression. “Confused. How long have you been here?”
He chuckles “I knew you were out of it, but I didn’t think you were that far gone. You don’t remember?”
She shakes her head ruefully.
Mulder rolls to his back and stretches, then turns back to face her. “You called me last night, totally out of it, and I came over to make sure you were okay.”
“How did you get in?” she asks skeptically.
“You let me in.”
Her eyes widen.
“You were burning up, I just force fed you some Tylenol and kept an eye on you. Around 3am you started shivering, so I think that’s when the fever broke.”
She is quiet for a moment, taking in her surroundings. “Mulder...am I not wearing pants?”
He holds up his hands in self defense. “That’s how I found you, Scully, Scout’s honor.”
“What time is it?” she asks, feeling disoriented.
He peeks at his watch. “A little after nine.”
She sits up too quickly and gets dizzy. “I’m late for work,” she says, one hand to her head.
“Scully you were delirious with fever six hours ago, you’re not going to work. I called for you,” he says, sitting up too.
She gives him an incredulous look. “You called out sick to work for me?”
He nods.
She sighs and looks away from him. “I got the soup, and the note,” she says, “thank you.”
“Of course,” he answers, rubbing a palm over her back.
She looks back at him, taking in his sleep rumpled hair and second day stubble. She furrows her brow, a slight scowl on her mouth.
“What’s wrong?” he asks.
“You’re my boyfriend, aren’t you?” she says with a defeated tone, and he laughs.
“I’d sure like to be, if you’ll have me.”
She groans and slumps against him, sighing as he wraps his arms around her, petting her hair.
“Okay, fine,” she says flatly.
“Well don’t sound so excited about it,” he teases, and she pulls back and smiles at him.
“Thanks for taking care of me,” she says softly.
“Thanks for letting me,” he replies.

Seo-ryeong and Tae-eul, allies
She sees her shoes before she sees the rest of her.
Correction: she sees her feet, before she sees the rest of her- the tension of the high arch radiating up to the calves revealed by the thigh high slit of her indigo skirt, as she climbs the stairs ahead of Tae-eul. It's a quick, confident gait: the stilettoes not wavering a centimeter. Tae-eul, slowing down, feels her back tense in sympathetic reaction.
She pauses at the door, hand raised to knock, when she realizes that she's not alone, and turns.
Tae-eul has already realized who it is, so she's able reply with composure.
"Madam Prime Minister, what a surprise."
The stairs give Koo Seo-Ryeong even more of an advantage; she looms, larger than life, than reality itself on Tae-eul's doorstep, her expression guarded.
"Detective Jeong," says Koo Seo-Ryeong coolly. "I'm glad to find you at home."
A pause, an upward curl of lip.
"Your real home."
"I'm sorry it's not fit to greet Your Excellency," Tae-eul says, mildly, as she reaches the landing. Koo Seo Ryeong doesn't step back, so she has to awkwardly move in the small space between the door and the giraffe behind her to unlock her door. Perhaps it was something in the water in Corea, she reflects, but they really did seem to produce people who couldn't resist being unnecessarily dramatic.
Koo Seo-Ryeong waits until the lights are switched on before she ducks her head to step over the threshold. She looks around, taking everything in- there's not much, Tae-eul admits, but it still feels like exposing her underbelly to a predator. But Jeong Tae-eul isn't a fool; she knows which battles to pick.
As does Prime Minister Koo, she thinks, watching her face as her gaze lights on the wall with the photographs. Without a word, she makes her way to it; saunters, really, like a giant, sleek cat strolling the savannah. The tension from the stairs is gone, replaced by indolence; which one is the act, Jeong Tae-eul wouldn't place bets on.
"Would you like something to drink?" Tae-eul says, after a minute.
"Hmm?"
Koo Seo-Ryeong tilts her head, showing off her lovely profile, her porcelain-cheek finely contoured, the elegant line of her neck. Her hair is coiled in a loose bun settled at her nape, a delicate white- jade hairpin holding it in place. She looks like the queen she intends to be.
"No."
"Suit yourself," Tae-eul says, shrugging, as she walks to the counter and turns the coffee maker on. "Personally, I find that caffeine helps speed up my brain."
Koo Seo-Ryeong turns toward her then, a half-smile playing on her cherry red lips.
"What's the hurry," she drawls. "Do you have somewhere to be?"
A pause, then a long, fair hand lifted to cover her mouth, showing off perfectly manicured nails in that same blood-red as her shoes. "Oh, that's right, you must be waiting for His Majesty."
Oh for the love of—
"What do you need my help for?"
"Did I say that I needed your help?"
Tae-eul rolls her eyes, as the coffee-maker hisses behind her.
"Your Excellency," she says, trying to use her best traffic-cop-explaining-rules-to-eighty year old ahjumma-in-a sedan-voice, "I can't imagine anything less than an emergency has brought you to my door. So, let's get to it."
"Where's your mother?" Koo Seo-Ryeong asks.
Tae-eul blinks at her.
"Dead," she says, after a minute. "I was five, it was cancer, there was nothing we could do."
She thinks rapidly, trying to remember the factoids of Koo Seo-ryeong's life that she'd devoured during her brief time in Corea.
"Where's yours?" she asks, but she thinks she knows the answer.
"Lee Lim's got her," says Koo Seo-Ryeong, casually, as though reporting the weather, "Somewhere here, in this world."
"Are you sure?" Tae-eul asks, after a moment. "It's my understanding that he usually—that he doesn't leave any loose ends," she amends, at the last minute, because there's something in the rigid nonchalance of Koo Seo-Ryeong's face that tells her she's not ready to hear the words "dead" and "your mother" in the same sentence.
"Somewhere in this world," Koo Seo-Ryeong repeats, "I'm sure."
"And you want me to help you find her," Tae-eul prods.
Seo-Ryeong shrugs. "You're a detective aren't you- and you and that little hound dog that follows you around- you've been investigating Lee Lim for a while now, so—"
Tae-eul sends up a prayer of thanks that hyungnim isn't around to hear this.
"Why should I, though?" Tae-eul asks.
It's not that she hasn't already made up her mind- taking down the bad guy is the job description, hello, and that's the golden rule even if the person who benefits from the work is a snake—but Koo Seo-Ryeong is a mystery she'd never thought she'd get a chance to solve, and here she was, delivered to her doorstep.
Plus, this was work.
Koo Seo-Ryeong looks bored.
"Do I have to explain the advantages of taking down a common enemy? Are you really the child you look like?"
Tae-eul takes a sip of coffee to hide her grin- but not fast enough, because Koo Seo-Ryeong's expression changes into a storm cloud.
"I see," she says.
Then the expression smoothens out, like a magic wand has been waved.
It was fascinating.
Tae-eul wonders if she'd ever thought of a career as an actor, and then reflects that Koo Seo-Ryeong's makjang style was probably more suited to her current career.
"If those are the games you like," the Prime Minister of Corea is drawling, "I can guarantee that His Majesty is going to bore you to death in two weeks."
"I'll take my chances," says Tae-eul placidly, hopping onto the kitchen counter, and swinging her legs. "Alright, eonni- I can call you that, right? Since we'll be working together and all? Tell me everything you know."
"You may not call me eonni," says Her Excellency, from her throne at the center of Master Jeong's 2 x 4, "And I will tell you what you need to know."
"See," says Tae-eul, slurping her coffee loudly and enjoying the barely hidden wince from the woman opposite her, "That kind of thing isn't going to work. All or nothing, Your Excellency."
"The things that you don't know, and I do, could fill the library of Sungkyunkwan," declares Koo Seo-Ryeong.
A pause.
"I will answer any questions pertinent to the situation."
"Cool, cool," says Tae-eul, "I can live with that. What's your favourite dish, Your Excellency?"
A glare.
"Why is that relevant?"
"It’s relevant to our dinner plans. I can't think when I'm hungry."
A (glorious) sneer.
"Pathetic," says the woman who possibly secretly smoked two packs a day to remain that svelte and run a country.
Tae-eul shrugs, pulling her phone out. "Alright, fried beef dumplings it is, then. I take it you won't mind it spicy?"
They're poring over the files that Koo Seo-Ryeong had brought- intelligence reports, and her own notes from her meetings with Lee Lim, comparing them with the information that Tae-eul has so far on her side, when the doorbell rings.
"Oh yum, food," says Tae-eul springing up and scooting to the door.
It's Jo Yeong, looking like Doom, as usual.
"Oh, not food," she says, disappointed, and steps aside to let him make his dramatic entrance.
Seriously, Coreans.
But hyungnim's right behind him- or would be, if he wasn't leaning against the railing with a put-upon look on his face.
Behind her, she can hear the exchange of artillery fire as Captain Jo Yeong meets the bane of his life in Master Jeong's living room.
She closes the door behind her.
"So, what, you and that crazy woman are allies now?" Kang Sin-jae asks, as he thrusts a bag at her, from which the delicious smell of fried dumplings wafts up.
"Nope," she says, rooting around in the brown paper bag, because she knows a fried food aficionado when she sees one, and if she doesn't get to her share now, it was unlikely that Koo Seo-Ryeong would be considerate enough to leave her any. Besides, for a woman like Koo Seo-Ryeong, ally would rank higher that blood-brother or soulmate for other mortals, and Tae-eul hadn't earned it. Not yet. There was time, she thinks, for that.
"Nah," she says, again, over half a mouthful of crunchy goodness. "just two people working together. Shall we go in before there are bodies to bury?"
"What, again?" mutters hyungnim, but he opens the door for her, and follows her in.

I sat and thought about it for a few days, and I decided at extreme last minute to edit it and make it just spicy fluff, with a rating of pg13-T for the allusions of and talks of sex. I had my best friend proofread this and made sure it was a-okay to post with those ratings! i also edited all the parts so they could be for a gender-neutral reader! so please let me know if this part (or any other part) has an issue with pronouns. Again, im so sorry it took so long for this part to be posted. anyways, thank you all for the love and support! check out my masterlist!

"Six months," I looked down at the token in hand. My eyes stayed glued to it for what seemed like an eternity, only looking away when there was a knock on the door. It wasn’t for 6 months, though, it was still my 5-month token. We’d be going to get my 6-month chip in a little bit...
"I hope you're not doing something stupid in there!" Spencer spoke on the other side of the door. I smiled before pulling the door open. He was leaning beside the door, waiting for me to leave. “I thought you’d never leave,” he looked over at me with a smile. I stepped more out of the bathroom and looked up at him.
“Nope, just going to the bathroom,” I lied, but still kept a smile on my lips. I try not to lie to Spencer, but for some reason, this one was different. If I had it my way, I would keep myself locked in the bathroom, and never having to leave again. “Do you have to go? It’s free now,” I gestured towards the door. Spencer looked down at me with a raised eyebrow. “Although, I’d give it a minute…” I looked down at the ground and shrugged.
“Are you okay?” He asked, following beside me as I walked towards his bedroom. I sat on the edge of the bed and looked up at him as he stood right in front of me. "Six months, that's quite the achievement,” he whispered as he sat beside me.
“I’m just nervous… That’s all,” I shrugged as I looked over at him, “I already want the day to be over… Is that bad to say?” I rested my head on his shoulder after I leaned on him.
“No, I don’t think so,” Spencer shook his head, “I think it’s totally valid. This is the first time that you’ve made it to such a big accomplishment… It’s exciting, it’s nerve-wracking…” he whispered.
“I think it’s more than nerve-wracking…” my voice was hardly a whisper. “We should go. The faster we go, the faster we can get this over with,” I looked up at him and shrugged.
“We should get going. It’s a very important meeting for you today. Gotta get that coin,” Spencer laughed, before standing up. I sighed deeply before standing up. I rolled my eyes. “It’ll be over faster than you think it will,” he wrapped his arm around me as he walked me outside. The weather drastically changed over the last six months, I’ve forgotten how nice Maryland can be when it’s not cold and snowy. And, as soon as we stepped outside, a warm breeze brushed across my skin and through my hair. I smiled, relaxing my shoulders slightly.
“It’s so nice out,” I looked up at Spencer and smiled. He returned the expression and looked around the street.
“Yeah, it is nice, isn’t it?” he looked back down at me with a soft smile.
“We should go to the Washington Monument! I want to see the cherry blossoms! I’m sure they’re nice and bloomed and super pretty,” I suggested, hoping he’d want to go.
“I mean, if I have time. We have cases coming in left and right,” Spencer replied, making me feel sadder. I pouted.
“Yeah, that’s right. I guess I’ll just have to go,” I looked up at him with a sly smile.
“And, you’ll have to take lots of photos for me,” he smiled at me again. I rolled my eyes before tucking myself closer into his side.
{***}{***}{***}
“I’m taking you out, come on,” Spencer grabbed my hand to pull me to my feet. I looked up at him and furrowed my eyebrows.
“What? Why?” I spoke, still staying on the couch. But, when he did finally get me on my feet, I yelped and fell into his body. Spencer wrapped his arms around my body to keep me steady. “We just got back!” I looked up as I tried to escape his grip.
“Because… You’re six months clean and that’s something worth celebrating,” he smiled as he looked down at me. “And, you deserve to be celebrated,” he whispered before poking my nose. I wrinkled my face and stuck my tongue out. “Please, for me?” he added. I dropped my shoulders. See, that’s not fair. He knows I’d do anything for him. And, if anything includes going out to celebrate something, then I guess I’ll have to do it.
“Okay, fine. You win. We can go out. But I don’t have anything nice to wear,” I spoke as I stepped away from Spencer’s embrace and towards his bedroom. I’ve basically moved into his place sometime over the last 6 months. So it could be our bedroom. But, it's an unofficial move in. I still have my shit in my shit apartment. “Granted, I don’t have much clothing here,” I looked back over at him and shrugged. It was just something to be planted in his head, maybe he’ll offer me to move in with him. Or maybe not. He’ll probably say that it isn’t very smart, me living with him.
“I guess it’s a good thing that there’s something in the bedroom for you,” Spencer smiled as he dropped his head to his shoulder. I raised an eyebrow before looking into his room. “Jennifer and Penelope helped pick it out,” his voice followed me as I entered the room.
“You didn’t have to get me this, Spencer,” I looked at him, awe in my eyes as I looked between him and the very nice clothing that was laid out on his bed. I honestly probably wouldn’t wear it out much. But if he takes me out to celebrate big milestones, then I’ll have an excuse to wear it.
“Of course I did. You should get to wear something nice on such a big night out. You get changed, I have to make a phone call real quick.” Spencer smiled at me before leaving me alone in his bedroom. I looked back down at the clothes and sighed deeply before changing out of my dingy sweater and jeans and into the dress. I looked down at my body before slowly leaving the room.
“I hate this,” I looked at Spencer, who was sitting on the couch, reading a book while he waited for me to finish getting dressed. He was quick to stand, nearly dropping his book to the ground as he looked at me. “Whaddya think?” I smiled at him before looking down at the clothes.
“You look… It looks good,” Spencer looked up at me with a smile. I looked back up at him for a brief moment, only to look away. I could feel a heat grow on my cheeks as I walked towards him. “Oh, uh… Are you ready?” He watched as I grabbed for a sweater he let me borrow.
“Only if you are, you’re the one who planned this whole thing. I was fine just staying home,” I shrugged as I followed beside him. I didn’t want to argue with him on this one, though. He wanted to do something special for me, because this was a big milestone. And, it’s the first time I’ve ever made it to 6 months. Hopefully, it’s the only time I make it this far. But, who knows, bad things happen to good people.
“I’m not going to be embarrassed, am I?” I looked up at Spencer as we walked out of his apartment. He grasped my hand as he led me out of the building.
“No, you… You shouldn’t be embarrassed,” Spencer furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head.
I don’t know why, but all I could think about was going to a restaurant on my birthday when I was younger… And, you know how the waiters and waitresses would crowd around and sing you their lame version of happy birthday, while forcing you to wear a hat that dozens of other people have worn… Their stupid birthday schtick? Remember? Ah, those were the good times, when Mom wasn’t out of her mind. But, I don’t think Spencer would force people to sing me a stupid song and wear a stupid hat for being clean of drugs for 6-months...
“I’m trusting you on this,” I smiled at him as we walked towards his car, “no one’s gonna sing like a song or anything?” I looked over at him as I slid into his car. He looked down at me with furrowed eyebrows, confusion on his face. Then it hit me that he had no idea what I was talking about.
“No…. No one’s going to sing to you,” he looked at me, his tone heavily confused.
“Nothing to worry about then,” I smiled as he pushed the door shut. I quickly buckled in and waited for Spencer to get into the driver’s side. I looked over at him with a smile as he got in. “I was just thinking… On the rare occasion when mom wasn’t awful, she’d take me out to eat, and a lot of the times it was my birthday… You remember that? And then they embarrass the fuck out of you,” I sighed as I looked at him.
“No… That never happened to me,” he glanced at me as he started his car.
“That’s a shame, we should change that,” I smiled evilly at him as he started to drive.
“I hate that you’re looking at me like that,” he looked at the road as he drove to our destination, “Do I even want to know?”
“No, but you’ll find out someday,” I smiled at him.
{***}{***}{***}
Spencer and I were very quiet as entered his apartment. I think that goes to show just how exhausted we both were. Considering he had brought me to his friend’s house, where the rest of his team was, to celebrate. It’s not that the people were exhausting, it’s just that we were out late, and I’m very emotional.
Which was the reason why I found myself crawling into bed in just a shirt and underwear. I could hear Spencer’s laughter as I got comfortable, but struggled with the blanket.
“I’m so tired,” I sighed as I pulled the blanket over my body. The bed shifted as Spencer climbed in beside me. “Like, all the tireds… Sleepy, mentally, emotionally, psychically,” I looked at him as I pressed my head into the pillow.
“Rossi does know how to have a dinner party. Six months is a pretty big thing to celebrate.” Spencer hummed as he moved closer to me. I looked up at him and smiled.
“You didn’t have to plan a party for me. I would have been okay staying here,” I whispered as I got comfortable in his form.
My back was pressed right to Spencer’s chest, just like many nights before. His arm was wrapped around my middle to hold me as close as possible to him. My legs were tangled up with his. I let out a deep breath of air before smiling to myself.
“I’m proud of you, you know that?” Spencer whispered, his nose brushing over the shell of my ear. I rolled my shoulders and hummed happily.
“Now it’s your turn,” I mumbled as I shifted slightly. I knew he was still struggling. It’s not easy… And Dilaudid seems like a kick to the ass drug. He’s trying though. He’s trying his hardest. I just wish there was a way I could help him. I knew he had been struggling more often recently. I would be too if my mentor left unexpectedly. It wasn’t fair to him, or the rest of his team. He gets to have a bit of a struggle, he shouldn’t have to though. The man who replaced Gideon though, David Rossi, is a nice guy. But I know Gideon was like his father figure to him.
Spencer let out a breath of air through his nose. His air tickling my skin and moving my hair. “I couldn’t have done it without you, ya’ know?” I mumbled, nuzzling my head into the pillow more. It was Spencer’s turn to hum. “And, I’m more than willing to be by your side,” I whispered, hoping he didn’t hear me. But, he did, because he just hugged me harder.
I know it’s only 6 months and not the rest of my life. But, without Spencer, I don’t think I could have gotten to the 6-month point. And, to be honest, I might be dead.
“That’d mean the world to me,” he whispered softly. I turned around so I was facing him. He looked down at me with a small smile. “I’m doing better, you know,” he spoke softly. I looked at him and nodded. “It’s just hard… With Gideon leaving… It just feels like everyone’s leaving,” he sniffled softly.
“I’m not leaving… And, by the looks of it all, you have an entire family that isn’t leaving you, Spencer,” I kept my eyes on him, watching as he looked down at me. He stayed quiet, mulling over the words I had just said.
In fact, that left us in a comfortable silence. My eyes stayed glued to him, whereas his were closed. I knew he wasn’t asleep though. Spencer never sleeps. I knew our day wasn’t over yet. We always talked more before either of us fell asleep.
But... something scared me. The way he held onto me. He held me like I would go missing in the morning when he did eventually wake up. His grip around my waist and torso was tight, like I was a stuffed animal and he was the owner. Part of me wondered if he feared I was a drug-induced hallucination and would vanish in thin air. I wish there was a way I could tell him, to convince him that I wouldn’t ever disappear like that.
His nose twitched as he rubbed his face into the pillow under his head. He slowly opened his eyes and looked back at me, the exhaustion of the day sitting in his eyes and expression. I understood that feeling. But, if he was anything like me, and he is a lot like me, I knew that even though he was exhausted, sleep wouldn’t find us in a while.
“Go to sleep,” he whispered, closing his eyes as he pretended to sleep. I laughed lightly, causing him to glare at me.
“I’m not tired, and I know you’re not either. You’re faking it,” I muttered as I shifted even closer to him. I still kept my head tilted up so I could look at him. “You know I’m right,” I whispered, a smile suddenly appearing on my lips.
“I’m not arguing your statement, am I?” Spencer replied, a smile growing on his lips. I almost kissed him. At that moment, it felt right. Our sudden sarcastic banter just made me want to kiss him.
“No, no you’re not,” I laughed lightly as I looked at him. Spencer kept his eyes on me, hugging me harder as he tried to bring me closer to him. But at this point if I was any closer to him, I’d probably be in him. “Can I ask you a question,” I whispered so softly. If it was daylight or any other time of day, with any sound, I wouldn’t be heard. Spencer laughed before reopening his eyes.
“You just did,” he retorted as he looked at me. I rolled my eyes as I readjusted, moving so I was more face to face with him instead of face to chest.
“I meant a real question, Agent Reid,” I stuck my tongue out at him. The smile that grew on his lips made me feel warm, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“You can always ask me a question, and you don’t even have to ask,” Spencer replied, his smile becoming more genuine than before. I could feel my heart beating as I looked at him. My body felt like it was flooding with a feeling that I’ve never felt towards another person… I just couldn’t put a name to it yet.
“Can I kiss you,” I whispered. It just happened. The words fell from my mouth, like I had no control over my mouth and the words I was saying. And now that the words hung in the air, I was left just staring at Spencer, and my heart in my throat.
The expression on his face told me he was thinking about it. But the long silence was beginning to make me feel nervous. What if I ruined it all? What if I just ruined my friendship with Spencer all because I wanted to kiss him? It’s just my luck though, I get something so beautiful and so precious, I ruin it, or it gets ruined. But in this case… It was my own fault and doing.
The next thing I knew, Spencer’s hands were cupping my cheeks, and his lips were against mine. It felt like the wind was knocked out of me with the sudden action. I was a little caught off guard. I guess his prolonged silence just convinced me nothing was going to happen. But I was definitely happy that it did, indeed, happen. And, I definitely enjoyed it.
His lips were soft, yet somehow slightly chapped. I could feel the moisture on his lips from when he licked them moments ago, and I could taste the tiny bit of wine he had just an hour ago. The warmth of his body made me feel safe as I gravitated closer into his body. My heart pounded in my chest, and I wondered if he could feel it against his. My hands gravitated towards his head, my fingers getting tangled in his hair.
Spencer hummed as I gently tugged on the hair on the back of his neck. The breath from his nose tickled around my lips and nose. Every movement he made, my body was quick to follow. I just couldn’t get enough of him, and he knew that.
He was gentle as he moved so he was over me. His arms were wrapped around my torso, holding me close to his body. I knew I wanted to further what was happening, and part of me could sense Spencer did too. I pulled my head away, pressing it into the pillow a little bit so I could look up at him. He returned the look, but a certain fire was in his eyes.
“Can we,” I stopped myself from talking, worried that I was even more out of line for asking if we could have sex. At least I’m asking. “We don-” I continued, but failed when Spencer pressed his lips to mine.
“Yeah… Yeah we can,” he muttered before going to take off his shirt.
{***}{***}{***}
It was honestly better than any type of high I’ve had before. Definitely better than marijuana, or oxycodone, or Dilaudid. I wonder if Spencer thought the same about that. This was probably safer too. You can’t overdose on sex, can you? Damn, I guess if that’s how I go… That’s how I go.
“Hey,” Spencer looked down at me with a small smile. I swallowed roughly before returning the smile to him. He brushed my hair away from my face before holding both my cheeks in his hands.
“Hey,” I returned the smile with a small giggle. Spencer laughed before kissing me again. It was tender and passionate with this kiss, and I wanted to melt into him. His hands were still on my cheeks, holding my face.
“Are you okay? I didn’t hurt you or anything? Did I?” He asked, his tone heavily laced with worry. He moved his nose so it brushed against mine, smushing it to my face. I laughed and shook my head.
“No, no, Spencer. You didn’t hurt me,” I laughed as I pressed my hands to his chest. “I don’t think you could hurt me… No matter what you do,” I quietly whispered. Spencer looked down at me and smiled.
“I promise I won’t ever hurt you,” he returned in a whisper, "and I won't ever leave you."
“In all seriousness, though, I didn’t know I had a sex drive like that…” I laughed, watching as Spencer sat up and away from me. “I mean, after all the oxy I’ve taken…” I shrugged, sitting up and wrapping a blanket around my body. Spencer looked over at me with a raised eyebrow as he stood up.
“Considering it’s been six months, you don’t have it in your system anymore,” he looked at me for a moment before grabbing his boxers and an undershirt. “I’m getting you water, do you want anything else?” He walked around the bed and came to stand beside me. I looked up at him and pushed out my lips, silently asking for a kiss. Spencer smiled before pecking my lips quickly.
“I’m okay with water,” I watched as he walked away. He nodded before leaving me alone in his room (Again, I would go as far as to say our room. But I don’t exactly live with him… full time).
When I finished cleaning myself up in his bathroom, I grabbed one of his shirts and a pair of boxers, and I sat on the center of the bed, waiting for him to return.
I realized something while I was waiting for him to come back to bed. And it’s something I don’t think I could ever tell him. Because, if I tell him this, I’d probably lose him. I don’t think I could handle losing Spencer.
I loved him. I loved Spencer Reid and that was probably going to be the thing that killed me.

You could practically feel the impatience rolling off of him in waves from next to you. Outwardly, he was the picture of calm—or at least as calm as you could seem with your arms folded across your chest and your face set in a scowl. He was thinking and you could tell because his eyes weren’t fully focused on the spot on the floor he was supposedly glaring at.
It was hard to be sure in the dim light, but you knew that look anywhere.
It was clear he wanted to do something. The obvious choice when you had been trying to figure out how to get out of here had been to have him either go blasting off above the trees to find the way back to U.A.—if it was even close enough to see—or to set off a signal in hopes of someone catching sight of it. Then, of course, there was the issue of visibility that had put a halt in all plans of escape.
Yet there was still that small voice of reason within everyone’s head though that perhaps you were being overly cautious—Bakugou could still technically do it. You were hero course students, among the best of the best, a little rain and lack of sunlight shouldn’t stop you.
While Todoroki was good for the survival aspect, especially when it came to staying warm during the frigid night, Bakugou seemed like the key to the way out. It felt like everyone was expecting him to do something, just volunteer already—or, at least, you were pretty sure that’s what he felt like. The truth was, no one was expecting anything from him. The plan had been set to simply try to find a way out in the morning. Things would be better then and you knew all of you would have reacted the same way he did and held back a little from immediately rushing out to look for help in conditions like this.
Plus, you were pretty sure they felt it too. A weird tugging in your bones—you don’t know how but you just knew it had something to do with the forest not mixing well with your quirks. You could feel it.
You knew Todoroki and Iida had amazing stamina, honing their quirks from a young age in top hero families, but it seemed that even they had to take more frequent breaks than usual when they had been using their powers earlier. Kaminari’s attempt at sending out a signal had fizzled out and he was reluctant to try charging your phones, stopping every so often to take a deep breath.
All of them must’ve felt it, even if no one said anything. It was like the forest was trying to keep you here.
The feeling was so strong that it was the only thing that could keep someone like Bakugou from pushing past the cautious side of things and actually saying fuck it, he was going to do whatever he wanted. He was still tense though, feeling like he should do something (you could tell). He was the best and he was going to be your way out of here in his mind.
You noticed the way his fingers were digging into his forearms where they gripped and you felt terrible all over again.
You tentatively reached over, about to lay a hand on his arm. “Hey-”
“(Y/N)! Truth or dare?” Kaminari’s voice sliced through the air and you stiffened, quickly drawing your hand back and pushing it into your lap. You could feel the other’s eyes on you even though you were staring straight ahead at Kaminari, chest hot at the sudden choice to begin the game with you.
“Um…”
Bakugou shifted next to you, not really readjusting his position, but seeming like he just wanted to move. “This is stupid…”
“Yeah, you said that before, Bakugou. Lighten up a little, will you?” Kaminari was grinning, tone teasing, and it seemed that it was only you that had noticed Bakgou’s ansty nature. Maybe staying in a random cabin wasn’t the best idea. You started to feel a little trapped too and the onsets of a possible headache pounded in your skull. This all felt weird.
“How the fuck can I lighten up when we don’t know even know when we’ll get out of here?” You expected him to yell it, emotional and scoffing at how stupid the rest of you were being to be fine with sitting around—but that was the opposite of what happened. In fact, you would’ve preferred that to the alternative. Instead, his voice was flat, his brows still furrowed as his eyes seemed to take a special interest in tracing over the ridges in the floor. He refused to look at anyone and he seemed strained.
“Bakugou, come on, man. We’ll get out of this fine. Just give it a few more hours.” You weren’t sure if Kaminari was getting what Bakugou was feeling the same way you did, but he did seem to be choosing his words a little more carefully. That is until— “It’s almost like you want to get dared.” The light laugh that followed had your heart clenching because Kaminari why.
Bakugou finally looked up, staring Kaminari dead on. “Fine. I’ll play.”
That almost halted his laughter, turning it uneasy. “It’s not really your turn yet-”
“I said I’ll play.”
Kaminari seemed unsure now.
You bumped your arm with Bakugou’s and whispered, out of the side of your mouth, “Calm down.” He grunted in reply but made no other indication he was going to listen to you.
It seemed like Kaminari, after a brief second of back and forth with himself, had mustered up the courage to actually agree with Bakugou’s request. “Truth or dare?”
“Dare.”
No one said anything for a moment and the crackling of the fire was the only noise.
Then, Kaminari released the tense breath you had all been holding. “I don’t know what’s with you, but you’re giving me a weird look—and not the standard I’m-going-to-kill-you one either.” The others were silent, although it looked like Midoriya wanted to say something with how he was leaning slightly forward, biting at his lip like he was forcing the words back down. Kamianri continued, trying to lighten the strange mood that had settled over all of you, “I dare you to chill out. Seriously, we’re going to be fine. Ha, didn’t know you were that worried about me, dude.”
The cheeky comment was apparently the wrong thing to say because before you knew it, Bakugou had risen to his feet beside you. “Okay.” And then he made for the door, opening and slamming it shut behind him. Everyone was left blinking at where he had just stood.
It happened so fast you weren’t sure if it had been real, although the sudden coldness at your side gave you the answer to that question.
“Are we still going to play?” Jirou broke the silence. No one was sure if they should go after him or give him a moment to clear his head.
“Um…,” Kaminari was dumbfounded for a moment as his eyes kept going back and forth between the spot where Bakugou had sat and the door he had just left through, “Yeah… sure… who wants to go next?”
“It was (Y/N)’s turn,” Jirou supplied helpfully, leaning back to rest on her hand. Were they just trying to pretend that nothing had happened? Being here sure was starting to make everyone act different.
“Right. (Y/N)-”
You cut him off. “I dare myself to go check up on him. Be right back.” You scrambled to your feet and within a few heavy steps you were pushing open the door and stepping out into the cool night air, surely leaving the group to lament the loss of yet another player.
You hugged your arms around you as the door swung shut and the glow of the fire was left long behind you—if you thought it had been bad inside, out here was freezing. “Bakugou?” He was nowhere in sight, although you knew he couldn’t have gotten far.
You took a quick glance around the edges of the cabin, covered in moss from years of disuse (you would have expected a lot more though if this had been truly been abandoned… you pushed the thought out of your mind), looking to see if he’d turned a corner. Unlikely. There was no way he wanted to be near here right now.
Then that leaves… your gaze slowly shifted to it. The forest. Of course he would.
You toyed with the idea in your mind for a bit, wondering if you should just call it quits and head back inside.
...fine, you would just briefly check and if you couldn’t find him, you’ll turn back right away to avoid getting lost. He probably had some grand secret hiding place if he wasn’t there anyway. Without thinking, you walked forward and beyond the trees, not seeing any point in hesitating.
Cautious to watch your step, you began to pick your way through the area, each hum of nature, hoot of a faroff owl, and chirp of a cricket making your heart race. It didn’t take long for you to see a flash of movement up ahead—you had been right, he’d come to the riskiest place to be alone right now.
Your steps picked up in speed as you rushed after him, closing the distance easily. “Where the hell are you going?” you hissed, “There’s a reason we’re all staying inside.”
He didn’t answer, but you hurried to catch up and fell into pace next to him, trying to search for any signs of his thoughts on his face. The moonlight coming through the branches wasn’t much help and everything was shrouded in shadows.
“Bakugou.” No answer. “Bakugou.”
“Where does it look like I’m going?”
You didn’t expect the sudden response and faltered momentarily in your steps before you quickly recovered. “What?”
“Where does it look like I’m going?”
“I don’t know! Maybe somewhere you shouldn’t be?”
“I’m getting us out of here.”
“Yeah, in the morning.”
“No, now.”
“Bakugou, you’re impossible.”
“You’re one to talk.”
This time you actually stopped walking and although he continued for a few more steps, he eventually stopped as well, a few paces in front and his back to you.
“What do you mean?” Your voice sounded small.
“What? You’re the same way when we’re at U.A.”
“I don’t-”
“The sports festival?”
“Well-”
“How many times did I have to stop you before you hurt yourself?”
You bit your tongue when he turned to face you now. You could say the same about what you did for him.
The moonlight barely reached this part of the forest, although you knew what he probably looked like right now—you knew his facial expressions, his hard stares, the way he twisted his mouth for brief flashes when he tried to hold in emotions.
Bakugou rubbed at the back of his neck before he came back to stand next to you wordlessly, passing through a patch of moonlight before pausing in the darkness with you. You were about to say something when he reached a hand up to flick at your shoulder.
“Wha-”
“Leaf.”
Right. You were in a forest. “Thanks.”
“Mhm.”
You stared at each other for a while and suddenly it felt like all the fall layers you had on were too much—who was messing with the thermostat in this forest? Not necessarily because of him (although, maybe he was a factor... who knows?), just… in general. You wanted to go home.
“You still got first.” The dark shadows made it difficult to see his face and you shifted to get a better look at him, accidentally bumping into the tree behind you. You reached a hand behind you to steady yourself against the trunk. “At the sports festival I mean,” you quickly added for clarification, “even though you kept trying to babysit me.”
“I did.”
There was the unspoken agreement to drop the matter—you knew he was still bitter over what felt like a false win to him.
“I’ll get first now too,” he said quietly and you knew what he meant. He was still set on finding the way out. Your hand darted out automatically, grabbing his arm before he could try to go off on his own again.
He tried to shake off your hold but when you held fast, he gave up relatively quickly, twisting his wrist around to grip your arm as well. It was mutual now. Always something equal between you two.
“Why the fuck do you keep stopping me? Don’t you want to get out of here?”
“Not if it means we get lost in the middle of the night.”
“Don’t you have your phone?”
You tapped against your pocket to feel if the device was there. Empty—you’d left it with Kaminari to charge. Not that there was any reception out here anyway. “No. Do you have yours?”
“No. I was going to say we could use the flashlight and then it wouldn’t be as bad.”
You fully leaned back against the trunk of the tree now, not caring if it ruined your jacket, your legs tired from standing up already. You were still holding onto each other’s arms and his grip was starting to hurt a little bit. Bastard. You tightened yours to make it even again. “You could just use your quirk, you know.”
You felt his fingers flex against your arm at the idea and even with the minimal light you could tell he was pressing his lips into a thin line. “You feel it too, don’t you?”
Of course you knew what he meant—the weird quirk suppressing feeling. “Yeah.”
Bakugou grumbled, no longer studying your face, but now observing his free hand, as if that would reveal some sort of secret. “I can’t do anything like this. For fuck’s sake, I fucking hate it-” In response to his anger, a few sparks flared up his palm, although you could see what he meant—they were dull, as though something was actively putting them out.
In the brief light, you could see his eyes dart to you as if he wanted to make the most of the illumination as well and take in what you looked like. You could see where the cold had nipped at his skin, and the way his expression was slightly less tense now that it was just the two of you and—
And then it was dark again and you were all but left with only his silhouette. It felt darker now that you had experienced that brief taste of light and you considered asking him to do it again.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Bakuogu suddenly asked and you were caught off guard.
“Like what? You can’t even see me.”
“I saw you just now though. You’re making that face.”
“What face?”
“That face you’re always making at me during times like this and- He cut himself off and shook his head, knowing this was going nowhere, although you had a feeling you knew what he meant. He had been giving you the same look as well—one that was indescribable. “Nevermind.” He was back to looking at his hand, flexing his fingers—the dark shapes twisted in front of you as you watched him, not able to make out the details of the lines on his fingers or the area where his sleeve met his wrist.
“What’s wrong?” You knew he was thinking about earlier when all seven of you had tried to come up with a plan to find a way out, but you still felt the need to ask.
“I would’ve done something—”
“I know you would’ve.”
You felt his harsh glare on you even if you couldn’t see it. “Will you let me finish a sentence for once, for fuck’s sake?”
You held up your hand in surrender, smiling—even if he couldn’t see you—at how easy it was to rile him up. He studied your darkened form as if making sure you were truly going to be quiet before he continued.
“I was going to do something—I would’ve—but my hands were feeling weird and I knew I couldn’t make a proper explosion.”
You nodded—you felt the same way with your quirk—and then remembered he couldn’t really see you and stopped.
“I didn’t want to be in the middle of doing whatever and suddenly my power supply cuts out. Don’t need anyone seeing that shit.”
“Bakugou, it’s fine.”
“It’s not because I know you wanted to catch the rerun of that dumb old Halloween movie on T.V. tonight.”
“Do you mean-”
“I don’t care about the name so don’t tell me.”
Typical, Bakugou. The thought had you grinning as you pulled on his arm to tug him closer to you because you were suddenly feeling cold again. He was fluid with your movement as he stepped closer like you wanted. “I didn’t think you’d remember.”
You just knew he was rolling his eyes. “Of course I remember. You wouldn’t shut up about it for the past week.”
“Yeah, but still. That’s cute.”
“That’s what?”
“Cute.”
He didn’t immediately shut it down and after mulling it over, seemed to accept the term. His head dropped down to rest on your shoulder now and you let him, supporting the pressing weight as you readjusted yourself against the tree trunk.
“I guess,” he breathed out.
“You’re always cute.”
“Okay, I fucking get it, can you shut up now?” You felt his scowl against the part just below your shoulder where his mouth was almost brushing against due to the angle.
“Okay, okay, but get off. You’re tickling me.” You were laughing at the feeling of him talking against your shoulder now and lifted it up to your ear as you tried to pull away. He relented, straightening up a little, but not moving completely away yet, and as you slid back into place, comfortable against the trunk, you realized he was but a hair’s breadth away. There was a small bit of moonlight that came in from between the branches of the tree and positioned like this he fell right into its path. Only half of his face was lit up, but it was enough to see the crimson iries that bored into your own.
“I’ll watch it with you when we get back,” he whispered.
“The movie?”
“Yeah. I checked in case we didn’t have time to watch it today—didn’t fucking think we’d be bsuy doing this though—and they’re showing it again tomorrow. Halloween night.”
“That sounds good.” You breathed in. “Make me popcorn?”
“You fucking bet.”
Neither of you could think of anything to say, but you lean forward to playfully bump your nose against his. His eyes closed at the action and there was an irregular thumping in your heart when he started to tilt his head. Steeling yourself, you let your eyes fall shut too, anticipating the warmth.
That is, until a loud crackle rang out through the forest and you harshly pulled back from each other in surprise, startled. You hit your head against the trunk behind you and brought up a hand to run at the sore spot. Bakugou had released your arm in his haste and you could still feel the imprint of his bruising grip (your own grip had been loosened on his arm when you’d gotten distracted by the proximity before, so when he pulled away you easily let go).
“What was that?” Your voice was hoarse and you cleared your throat, eyes darting around the area.
“I don’t know…” You saw him looking down at his hands now, remembering that he was almost entirely defenseless like this. If it was something objectively “bad,” you would for sure be in big trouble. It didn’t look like he was worried about himself though—more so about protecting you (as strange as it seemed) even though you’d proven yourself to be more than capable of taking care of yourself on countless occasions (then again, that had been before whatever quirk zapping magic had descended upon your group).
You rested a hand on his arm. “Maybe we’ll find someone if we follow it.”
“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever-” Another faint crackle rang out and above the trees there was a flash of light—someone was definitely here.
You looked at him now with the same I-told-you-so tilt of your head and raise of your eyebrows you knew he hated and you knew he could picture you doing it as clear as day even if he couldn’t see anything.
“Fucking fine, let’s just go already.”
It didn’t take the two of you long to get closer to the source of the noise since every few seconds it sounded again, and the colorful lights in the night sky were enough to keep drawing your attention in the right direction. Bakugou kept stopping to make sure you were following him and keeping up, but whenever you waved him off because you were fine, he would just grumble and pretend like he hadn’t been looking behind him for your sake at all.
Within a few minutes you emerged onto a cliffside, the area clear. In the distance below it, you could make out what looked to be glimmering city lights (which was alarming enough) and as you walked closer to the edge—
“Is that-”
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Not far away from the cliff, U.A. towered from its place atop the hill it always sat upon—the campus illuminated as part of the ongoing holiday celebrations. You could see now that fireworks were being set off from there. You had been this close all along.
You were caught up in admiring the display—and slowly lowered yourself to sit at the edge of the cliff, legs dangling over the edge, eyes on the bursting lights—until you remembered the past few hours and what this meant. You quickly moved to scramble to your feet— “Bakugou, have to tell the others-” —but found a weight pushing you back down into place.
Bakugou sat down next to you with a thump on the hard packed ground, swinging his legs over the edge of the cliff to mimic your position.
“Bakugou?”
“We’ll tell them later,” he mumbled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you against him. You thought about protesting but then— “Ten minutes. Give me ten minutes.” You couldn't tell what he was thinking and his voice concealed it well, although you understood the implications of his words.
“Okay.” And then you were quiet, settling against him as another string of fireworks went off—U.A.’s annual week-long Halloween light show—brilliant variant colors that twisted into various shapes lighting up the night sky against the sparkling stars, moonlight bright now when paired with the hustle and bustle of Musutafu down below. It was still chilly, but you felt strangely warm now and… free? You realized the weight of the forest was gone. In its place you felt a comforting pressure—warm and spreading through your body, and as you sat there and listened to Bakugou’s beating heart, you decided you had an inkling of what it might be.

3, 12, 40? With the shoregrillster trio? In any combination you like
3. A breathy demand: “Kiss me” - and what the other person does to respond.
12. Sneaking away to a hidden corner to share a secretive kiss.
40. A gentle kiss that quickly descends into passion, with little regard for what’s going on around them.
This is going under a cut because one, it got hecking long and two, it got mildly SPICY. Nothing explicit but you have been warned
Parties are....they’re supposed to be at least a little fun, right?
When it was announced that Gaster’s work on a new environment friendly, cost effective and all around sick public transportation design had been accepted by the city council, there was also the call to a party to celebrate the occasion. You’re beyond happy for Gaster, for his accomplishments in finally getting more steps taken to integrate monster magic into human technology on a world changing scale.
But holy crap, this party is boring.
Calling it a party at all is being generous. It’s just an excuse for people of ‘classier’ society to act like they’re taking part in something grand and to show off how fancy they are by sipping at cocktails and standing around pretending to care about what the other party goers bring up for conversation. But it is an important part of getting full funding for the project, as well as schmoozing up to anyone who might open up lanes for future development, so here you all are.
The majority people here are humans that you don’t recognize in the slightest aside from the occasional ‘oh it’s...that guy. Yeah’. There are a handful of monsters from the science and tech division all involved on the project. They’re mostly keeping to themselves, nervously socializing as little as possible.
Sans was here at some point. You don’t doubt he’s snuck off to find a corner to snooze in, if he hasn’t left the party outright at this point.
Lucky jerk.
However, you will admit, there is an upside to this whole thing. Gaster is not usually one to dress up. At least, not in any level aside from his beloved lab coat that you highly doubt contains more than a scrap of the original material thanks to all the repairs that have had to be done on it.
He’s been talked out of the lab coat and is instead wearing an utterly dashing three piece suit of the deepest purple you’ve ever seen captured by fabric. From the distance between where you’re leaning up against a pillar to rest your feet and him being caught in a circle of engineering heads pelting him with questions, the suit looks black until he shifts and the light catches the lines of shimmering purple.
You sip appreciatively at your drink, eyes taking in the way the suit fits his skeletal frame. Perhaps the night won’t be so boring after all.
“He cleans up really good,” you muse as the air to your left grows warm. “Almost makes the feral cat fuss he made about getting in the suit worth it.”
“Says you; I had to actually drag him out of bed while you were in the shower. He actually tore holes in my sheets.” Grillby leans against the wall as well, offering you a plate of ‘fancy people food’ he snagged from one of the wandering waiters.
Ah, you were wondering about those. You take a piece, not exactly sure what the heck it even is and pop it in your mouth. Your expression twists. “How is it that rich people food always looks so good but tastes like sour air and dried regret?”
“I’m still working that out myself.” Grillby finishes off the plate and sighs.
You shift your gaze to Grillby. He too is dressed to the nines, with a deep red button up, a black and gold trimmed waistcoat and matching tie. He always looks good of course but damn if his snazzy outfit isn’t making the worst kind of butterflies flutter in your belly.
“I’ll make us something actually substantial when we get home,” he continues, oblivious to your less than pure gaze skimming over him.
“If Gaster hasn’t imploded by that point.” The poor guy is fidgeting like crazy. It’s difficult for him to be around so much noise and fuss, this you know from experience.
Grillby looks at you, gaze sharpening a bit as his eyes trail over your outfit. Said outfit for the night is a deep blue one piece, sleeveless suit dress. The smooth material hugs your frame just enough to offer a hint at the form underneath and is blanketed by a sheer capelet that rests over your bare shoulders and gathers together at your waist with a thick belt.
The intensity of Grillby’s staring sends a delightful thrill of heat up your spine. “I guess I clean up alright too,” you murmur, brows lifting teasingly.
“’Nice’ is not quite the word I’d use.” He’s moved closer, plate of food discarded and hand rising to rest rather low on your hip. “Ravishing. Tempting. Something like that.” His head has tilted down, eyes fixated on your mouth.
You pull a goofy face at him, because if you don’t, you’re pretty sure your face will burst under the growing blush in your cheeks. “That’s me, the ultimate temptation.”
He’s not deterred by your teasing. He merely glances around just enough to see if anyone is currently looking your way before his grip tightens and he presses a warm kiss to your lips. It’s soft and gentle and a smile easily comes to your face as you kiss him chastely back.
Then-oh his mouth opens, and you quite forget about your boredom and the fact that your feet are killing you and the taste of bland rich people food on your tongue because Grillby tastes so much better. Your hands rise, gripping the edges of his waistcoat, pulling him closer to you and he makes a sound deep in his throat that urges your mouth to move faster, go deeper-
A laugh rings out, clear and far too close and Grillby jumps like he’s been shocked, pulling away with an eruption of blue over his face. Both of you guiltily look over towards the noise but it would seem that it was just someone laughing at a point in conversation. No one is staring in aghast mortification at the social faux pas.
A little breathlessly, you giggle. “Wow, how scandalous of you. We’re out in the open and everything.”
He shoots you a heated look. “You kissed me back.”
“You used tongue, you cheater!”
He flushes a brighter blue, but you can’t help but notice that his hand remains firmly on your hip. This isn’t fair, stupid party, stupid crowd….
An idea sparks in your heat addled brain. A dumb idea but, well, you’re rather past the point of caring too much.
You press up closer to him again, eyes darting out over the crowd for the briefest moment. You dance your fingers up his buttons. “Why don’t we go rescue Gaster? I think we could all use a... social recharging?”
He blinks and the soft “oh” that escapes him when he realizes what you’re getting at gets your ears burning.
But he doesn’t say no. In fact, he simply nods quickly, steps back and offers you his arm, which you gratefully take. Heels suck and your ankles are not pleased with you. “You want to take the lead?”
“Absolutely,” you say with only a touch of a manic grin actually reaching your face.
Gaster looks on the verge of whipping into a ranting frenzy or throwing an actual punch as the two of you approach. The human speaking to him is going on about engine semantics or something. Incorrectly, going by the promise of violence glinting in Gaster’s eye sockets.
“Pardon me,” you say with syrupy sweetness, cutting off the man speaking. All heads turn, faces going blank with subdued irritation at the interruption. “I need to borrow the good doctor for a bit. Doctor Gaster?”
Gaster inclines his head. “Excuse me,” he says with the sincerity of a child apologizing for stealing cookies. You swap to hold onto his arm and let him sweep you out of the ballroom, Grillby following on your heels.
“You are an angel,” Gaster groans. “Those imbeciles were trying to convince me to add in ‘a profitable angle’ to the design. Pigs.”
“I think that’s an insult to pigs.” You carefully look him over. “Are you holding up okay?”
He sighs heavily, coming to a stop out in the hallway where the only person present is a coat attendant lost in a book.
“Objectively, yes” he says, rubbing at his skull. “I just wish Asgore did not insist on me staying and playing nice with these people.”
“Sounds like it’s just been a big pain.”
Grillby tugs on your arm.
“It is!” Gaster proclaims, sweeping his free arm back towards the ballroom. “Vultures! Well…most of them are, there was actually a rather fascinating young man who had his facts mixed up but the core of his idea was not a bad one—”
Grillby tugs harder.
“Mmhm,” you hum, raising your eyebrows at Grillby. Just because you can, you let your tongue dart out over your lips for the briefest of moments.
He looks as frustrated as a fire could possibly be. Were the coat attendant not glancing up over the edge of his book, he probably would have scooped the two of you up and gone to work right there.
“Uh, is something wrong?” Gaster, finally noticing the agitated flick of Grillby’s flames, looks between the two of you.
“Well, we’re both kind of…hmm, how to be nice about it…bored? Sorry,” you pat Gaster’s arm. “I know it’s your special night.”
“That’s fine, I’m quite bored myself,” Gaster says dryly.
“Oh perfect!” you chirp brightly. You glance to Grillby and smile slyly. “We had a thought about how to recharge our batteries. As it were.”
Not for the first time, Gaster displays an impressive ability to give the look of raising eyebrows without any actual, yanno, eyebrows. “Do tell?”
“It’s not really a tell so much as a show-oop!”
Grillby’s run out of patience. His hands land on both yours and Gaster’s backs, urging you forward and down the hall. The coat attendant is very pointedly Not Looking as you pass by. Grillby must have done recon or something when you first got here because he seems to know exactly where he’s heading. He takes you down a small flight of stairs and round a corner that leads to a small room that’s empty save for a few boxes stacked against one wall and some unused furniture.
And just your luck, it’s unlocked.
Going by the rising purple on Gaster’s face, he’s caught on to what exactly your recharging’ idea is. “Uh-um, yes I—”
“I didn’t have much of a chance to say it earlier.” Your arm slips smoothly away from his and you turn to him. You have to lift up a bit on your tip toes and pull him down to you to press a kiss against his cheekbone. “You look very handsome tonight. And we are your dates to this thing, and yet we haven’t hardly had a chance to even talk to you.”
Gaster’s blush is now bright enough to nearly compete with Grillby’s flames.
Speaking of Grillby-
He’s moved in behind you, hands dropping to your waist as his mouth descends down on your neck. The heat of his body and fire presses against your back and you have to take a moment to catch your breath.
Gaster’s eye lights have gone wide and bright, flickering with a nervous sort of energy as his gaze darts between you and Grillby. He swallows, though he really has no need for it. “I…this isn’t really the best…what if someone sees…?”
“Then you better move fast,” you murmur. Tugging on his tie, you pull his face down closer. “Kiss me,” you demand breathlessly. “Please?”
There’s a moment where his eye lights shift in such a way it almost looks like they’ve taken on the shape of stars and then Gaster’s hands lift to your face, nearly bonking your nose with his teeth with the speed at which he kisses you. Kissing a skeleton is difficult sometimes, given his lack of lips.
But you’ve had plenty of practice.
One of your hands shifts to pull Gaster closer to you while the other desperately scrambles behind to find purchase on Grillby. His own hands are quite busy, one running gentle circles on your hip and the other moving up, closer to where your chest is pressed up against Gaster’s ribs. His fangs scrape deliciously at your skin, nipping lightly in a way that makes you squirm with a mixture of ticklishness and building heat.
Your hand finds Gaster’s spine, prominent even through his suit and you grab on just below where his ribs end. He jolts at the contact, a breathless curse falling out in a rush of air. Grillby takes the chance to pull away from your neck and captures Gaster’s attention with a heated kiss.
Now quite solidly squished between the two, a soft and breathless noise escapes you as you drink in the building pressure of their bodies, basking in the contrast of Gaster’s silk smooth suit and Grillby’s growing heat. His hands continue to work at your curves, every touch sending a searing wave of warmth over your skin, kneading with a gentle intensity that makes you arch into Gaster.
You have just enough presence of mind left to sputter, “D-don’t tear the capelet.”
He growls, low and deep and oh if that rough and wild sound from such a restrained monster doesn’t make the most embarrassing shuddery moan hum in your own throat. “Take it off then,” he suggests with a tug at the belt around your waist.
So off it comes, fluttering down the floor, soon joined by Grillby’s more carefully folded waistcoat. Then you find yourself being pulled back, led by him to an armchair covered in a cloth. The force of him sitting makes a heavy whumph sound thanks to your added weight on his lap.
Gaster had let the two of you slip from his grasp while the extra bits of clothing were being discarded and he watches you now with a face openly full of warm affection. When you grin and beckon at him with a finger, he huffs out a sigh that is probably meant to be taken as annoyed, but just comes off as fond and longing.
“You two are going to get me in trouble,” he grumbles. “There is a party I’m supposed to be at right now just down the hall, or did you forget?”
Grillby, busy at work pressing scorching kisses over your bare shoulders, pauses and lifts his head. “So eager to get back, are you?”
“Not at all. But I’ll be missed if I stay away much longer.”
You sigh heavily, letting your weight lean back against Grillby’s chest. You might just happen to let your hand trail down to your thigh and lightly run your fingers over the fabric there as you pout at Gaster.
He’s broken out into a bit of a sweat.
Sweetly, you plead, “Five more minutes?”
He stares. He sweats. Then his hand smoothly tugs at his tie and it and his coat joins the other outwear on the ground. “Five more minutes.”
It winds up being six minutes and forty-two seconds but well.

A Little While Longer
A Mitsuhide Akechi story, approx. 1500 words of fluff and spiciness.
First: Mitsuhide and the Maiden
Previous: The Fox Path
Mitsuhide knelt to make a small fire. After riding through the night and most of the day, it was safe enough to stop. Besides, his little mouse couldn’t handle much more no matter what brave face she put on it.
“Didn’t you tell me this part of the forest was haunted by a vengeful ghost?” She was setting out their bed rolls when she asked, trying to pretend there wasn’t an edge of nervousness to the question.
“Did I? Hmmm.” Mitsuhide grinned.
She tossed a pebble at him. “You are so mean.”
“I am. But not to my little one. Just keep your bedroll close to mine and I’ll make sure you’re safe for the night.”
“You’re just saying that to get me in arm’s reach.” She settled her bedroll beside his.
Mitsuhide pretended wide-eyed surprise. “Am I? Oh dear. But then, you’re moving your bedroll so I must assume you don’t object.”
“Well . . . I might not.” She was blushing again and wouldn’t look directly at him.
He grinned his crescent moon smile. “I’m glad to hear it.”
They unpacked their camp items and settled the horses in companionable silence. Mitsuhide couldn’t help the way his eyes followed her, or all the little reasons he found to touch her. Brushing fingertips as they reached for the same item. Bumping shoulders while they unsaddled the horses. Resting his palm on her back when she stood close.
“I - I guess I can boil some water. I got some dried noodles for us when I was shopping,” the chatelaine said, but didn’t move away from his touch.
Mitsuhide stroked her back lightly, running his fingers in little circles. She seemed to like that. “Let me boil the water. I have a little surprise for you.”
“Oh?” She looked up, eyes half-lidded.
“Mmm, a spring just a little ways into the trees. We were fairly close to it the first time we camped in these woods. I thought you might enjoy a bath. Even if it’s cold.”
His little mouse laughed softly. “If anyone had a hidden hotspring it would be you. I’m almost disappointed. But that sounds nice. A quick, cold bath before dinner and bed. Can you show me where it is?”
Mitsuhide walked her to the spring. It was a deep pool that fed into a narrow creek. Really only a little larger than a bath, with dark granite sides and sandy bottom. The afternoon light glinted off the still water, and the bamboo swayed and creaked.
“Are you sure it’s safe here? No ghosts?” The chatelaine looked up at him with wide eyes.
“Certainly not in broad daylight,” he chuckled. “But if you like, I can stay here and keep watch?”
“Pffft. As if I’d let you just - just watch me.” Her eyes told a different story. Conflict between her pride and desire.
Mitsuhide ruffled her hair. “It’s not as if I haven’t seen you nude. But as you like.” He turned to leave. “If you need me, just scream.” He dodged the twig she tossed his way without looking.
He had to admit, it was hard to wait for her there. He busied himself with little tasks. Boiling the water, shifting the bedrolls. Staring up at the trees and imagining what she was doing right that second. Ah, to be a water drop . . .
The noodles were ready by the time she returned. Bits of dried fish and pepper made a nice broth for them - or at least it smelled good. For Mitsuhide, there was only edible and inedible. He hoped his little mouse approved even if it was nowhere near the delicacies Masamune could prepare.
She came back, her hair wet and hanging down her back. Her clothes were loosely tied, her skin still damp.
“Feel better?”
“A little cold, but yeah.” She sat down beside him and leaned into his shoulder. “Something smells good. Did you cook?”
“I boiled some things in a pot.”
She tasted the broth and smiled. “It’s good.”
They ate together, sharing the spoon. Mitsuhide enjoyed every bite, mostly because he teasingly convinced his little one to feed him. It was entertaining to watch how carefully she moved. But the best part was when he took the spoon from her.
“W-what are you doing?”
“Returning the favor. Now open your mouth -” He held the spoon up, blowing lightly across the soup.
“I can do that myself.”
“But you don’t have too.” He leaned closer, the spoon between them, until there was barely a hairsbreadth between the spoon and her lips. “Open wide.”
Her expression was mortified but she did what he told her to.
“There. It wasn’t too hot? Not too much?”
“Nope. Now give me the spoon.” The chatelaine held her hand out.
“It is your turn to feed me, yes?” Mitsuhide’s eyes glinted with mischief.
“You are enjoying this too much.”
Mitsuhide shrugged. “I will not deny it.”
With dinner finished, they both washed up at the creek and packed everything away. It would be a cold breakfast in the saddle tomorrow to put more distance between them and Chugoku. Mitsuhide wondered if Yoshiaki or the daimyo sent anyone to follow them this far. It was possible they might be dogged all the way to Azuchi. He doubted it though. Too much trouble for them and too little reward.
“You know, you should probably take a bath too.” The chatelaine poked his arm. “I can wait here by the fire. I don’t mind.”
“It will be dark. Are you sure?”
“Yeah. You’ll be right back, so I don’t mind.” She wrinkled her nose. “Besides, you need it.”
Mitsuhide felt mildly offended. “I see. Then maybe you should come with me and inspect my work. I’d hate to return and find I am not clean enough to suit your tastes.”
This had the desired effect of reducing his little one to a stammering blush.
He grinned. “Then if you won’t inspect me, I expect no complaints.”
“Pfft. That’s - that’s not - I can’t -” She sighed, flustered.
Mitsuhide ruffled her hair. “No complaints then.”
He left her at the camp and walked to the spring. It was dark enough that the frogs and lizards were scurrying in the underbrush now, and the crickets were singing to the darkening sky. Mitsuhide felt at peace. Even knowing this was temporary - he had to savor this moment. He undid the ties on his clothes and hung them in a nearby tree. Naked and feeling oddly vulnerable, he lowered himself into the cold spring water. It wasn’t as bad as he expected - just a little cooler than the air.
It did feel good to rinse away the dirt and sweat. He rubbed his skin clean with handfuls of sand and washed his face. Mitsuhide was about to rinse his hair when something caught his attention. A rustling in the brush, the almost-silent tread of stealthy footsteps.
He pretended not to notice, but his eyes scanned the forest. It could be the daimyo’s men. Or bandits. He glanced toward his clothes, his sword and shoes were at the foot of the tree. Not far, but far enough to leave him open if his stalker struck.
Mitsuhide rose up half out of the water. Pretending to stretch in the general direction of his things. There was a sound then, a sharp inhale or a gasp. A feminine gasp, almost . . . a squeak. His eyes tracked toward the sound.
And there she was. His little mouse. Hiding behind some brush. Her gaze met his but he pretended not to notice. Smiling, he continued his stretch. Letting the water lap at his waist. His hips. He could feel her eyes on him, the way she stared at his exposed skin. Mitsuhide was a man used to being admired, but he’d never enjoyed it as much as this. Knowing she thirsted for him as much as he, for her. It made him want to do rash things.
He made a dance of leaving the cold water and slowly dressing. It was, he decided, a fun way to tease. But it would have been more so if he could see all the expressions she made. He wished there were time to do it again in a place she couldn’t hide.
The chatelaine scurried back to camp when he was mostly dressed. He couldn’t miss the sound of her movements - clumsier now than when she approached.
At the fire, she waited for him. Her hands clasped innocently in her lap. Sitting on her bedroll as if she’d been there the whole time. “Did you have a good bath?”
“Oh yes. It was very nice.” He knelt behind her and pulled her up against him. “I wouldn’t have minded your company. It was lonely.” He kissed the tip of her ear and down the side of her neck.
“Ah. Yes. I. I had to. Stay. Here.”
“Of course,” he murmured into her shoulder. “Now come here and help me get warm.”
The chatelaine opened her mouth to protest but he brushed a featherlight kiss across it before she could.
“You’re still my wife, remember? For a little while longer.”

Being not really a fan of parties, you really didn't want to be here- but it gave you a reason to leave the house and dress up for an occasion, so it was only half as bad as you'd thought. With your friend at your side you entered the stuffy club, music actually pretty decent. The sounds made the ground vibrate with rhythm, and you didn't feel as uncomfortable as you thought you would.
That had been the start however. Now you were sitting at the bar, slightly swaying to the beat while staring at your apple juice- your choice of beverage since you hated alcohol, not to mention that your body didn't appreciate it either. As soon as someone sat down next to you, you knew he was bad news- because it was Kim Taehyung, the guy your supposed friend had been oggling up the entire night already. She'd almost set up an entire powerpoint presentation about him it felt like when she'd been gushing over his oh so good looks. And you couldn't deny that; he did have the looks. Technically, he was exactly your visual; with bright red hair, black attire, and well chosen accessoires- but you knew his repuptation as well, you had fallen for his charms as well once, and that made your bile rise up as he spoke over the music to you.
"Alone?" He asked, and you wanted to say no so badly- but you've lost the girl you came with already to the guys eyeing up her long legs, making you roll your eyes internally. So you nodded as you stared down your glass. "Hm, good for me then, maybe?" He asked with an amused tone, and you looked over, catching him looking at your choker as if something interesting was written on it. You sighed, searching for your wallet, waving the bartender that you wanted to pay. "Aw, already? Come on, you haven't even started drinking yet- or is the little girl gonna stick to her child friendly juice?" He commented with a chuckle, again eyeing you up as if you were something he had to inspect throughourly. The bartender finally walked over to you with your bill, and you payed with a smile into his direction before moving your attention towards the redhead.
"I know I look like an easy whore to you loverboy, but I'm really not interested in hooking up with a guy only looking for something to get his dick wet."
The way he looked at you said it all; the fact that his eyes widened, pupils moving a bit frantically, it all yelled into your face just how right your statement was. And you were tired. You were tired of being used, of being manipulated, of being seen as a simple trophy to show off. No, not today satan. Today you’d safe yourself and heal on your own.
And you started with simply jumping off of your bar chair, grabbing the rest of your oh so childish apple juice, and watched as it drenched and colored his shirt, his face a look of pure shock. And it never felt better to see.
What you did not know however was, that his shock wasn't just because of the liquid on his shirt- it was his intoxicated brain, slowly putting together who he had actually hit on.
Tumblr media
Truth be told, this was supposed to make you feel better about your recent breakup, one that this guy knew about. Taehyung and you worked at the same place, or at least you did, before he had fucked over all your plans and snatched the seat for the main tattooist right from under your nose. You had been friends if you will- yet he'd betrayed you for his own personal benefit.
You'd gotten along great at first; he, the young guy with more experience than you, who always praised your work and tried to keep your head high, telling you to keep going and showing you what he knew about actual work experience. He knew how much you wanted this job, knew how much it meant to you, but when you overheard him talking to the owner of the shop about your work, you had almost walked inside that room and slapped him six ways down to hell and back.
"Ah well.. her work is good, but you know.. mediocre at best. It's something for a pinterest board, but it's nothing special."
Those were his words, and they'd hurt. They had hurt so much, not only because deep down you felt as if they were true, but also because it was him- because you had been foolish enough to trust him. Considering him a friend had been a mistake you decided, immediately leaving the shop after the owner had told you he'd chosen Taehyung as his main Artist; which meant that you had to go, since he couldn't pay you just for drawing. And you knew this had been Taehyungs doing, the way that he couldn't look into your eyes afterwards said it all. And the fact that he actually tried to hit on you tonight either meant that he was actually empty inside his head, or just the definition of an asshole, uncaring of who's vagina he'd stick his tiny dick inside.
Maybe he was both.
Because as soon as you heard the slightly out of rhythm and stumbling steps catching up to you, you rolled your eyes, turning around to face the you man, out of breath and slightly dishelved. "I-uh.. God this is awkward.." He said, scratching his head as he looked at his shoes. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was yo-" He started, but you cut him off before he could finish.
"Save your apologies, really. I'm tired getting lied at." You said, before walking again, groaning a bit as you heard him following. "Stop following me, creep!" You said, and he simply started to walk beside you, hands in his pockets.
"I'm not following you." He said, pointing to the bus stop you're targeting. "I'm taking the bus. Can't drive intoxe- intox.. I don't wanna drive drunk okay?" He said, tongue almost tying a knot at the word he couldn't pronounce due to his happy drinking earlier. He actually didn't mean to leave the club, but somehow he couldn't leave you alone like that. He still felt incredibely guilty about what happened between you both prior to his mishap in the club, but he couldn't really apologize for that either. Yeah he was an asshole, but he needed the job too. Surely you'd understand in the future- right?
Wrong. Unbeknownst to him, this lost job managed to fuck up everything for you. You'd really needed that job desperately; sacrificing precious time for the internship while he had been given at least a bit of a payment during his time- and now you were left for dead it seemed, with no money to pay rent or anything else really. It was only a matter of time until your landlady had enough of you, finally able to kick you out. And it was all Taehyungs fault.
Tumblr media
"So how's it going with her, Taehyung?" Jungkook mumbled between stuffing his mouth with his breakfast. Taehyung had noticed a shift in the boy's spirits lately- more active and happy, ever since he'd told him that he was finally in a relationship with someone he considered the perfect partner for him. Taehyung had been happy, he'd admit that, but also envious-
because he could've had that with you, too.
But he had to fuck it up somehow, willingly, because he wasn't as stupid as you may thought he was. He knew that you would hate him when you'd find out about what he'd told the parlor owner that day. You were never supposed to find out. But even if you didn't, and he'd eventually asked you out, if you'd accepted, what good was a relationship build on a lie? It would've fallen apart anyways, things like that never worked out.
He really didn't like you at first, if he was being honest. You weren't what he was going for, typically.
You were headstrong, always speaking your mind, and never backing down from anything in your way. You wore your chokers as a warning to stay away, painted your nails black regularly, and never associated with anything a girl his type would interact with. Yet he'd also seen you muse over Kakaofriends charms, your phone was protected in a cute case with several charms attached, and you hated spicy foods and alcohol.
You were absolutely adorable.
And he hated that this was what slowly pulled him towards you, the simple fact that you always played a game of cat and mouse with him, never letting him get close enough to truly say that he knew you, but always keeping him at a safe distance. He was hooked on you and your small and angry figure- sometimes daydreaming about what it would maybe feel like to hold your hand, or simply hug you.
A snapping of fingers brought him back to reality as he looked at his friend, a mildly concerned look on his face, slightly covered by his hair. It had gotten longer these days- Jungkook didn't feel the need to cut it anymore, since he'd only ever done it to appeal to older girls as the 'cute guy'. Now that he'd settled with you, he could finally decide himself what he wanted; and Taehyung himself had to admit, it made him look older, more mature. Taehyung sighed, before shrugging his shoulders, taking a sip of his coffee, having declined the offer of his younger friend to eat with him.
He wasn't hungry.
"Still hates me." He mumbled, and Jungkook sighed, putting down his cutlery as he leaned back, chewing before clearing his mouth of the last bites of food. Taehyung stared outside the window of the small cafe they'd both met up, watching the people outside enjoy the bright and warm sunshine after a bit of rain earlier that day. He somehow wished he could take you out on a day like that. Did you like the rain? He'd never thought about it.
"I mean-" Jungkook started, before interlacing his fingers behind his head. "Can't blame her. That was a dick move." He said, shrugging his own shoulders to underline his statement. "Have you tried to make it up to her?" He asked, and Taehyung simply shook his head. "Well, do you fucking think this will just solve itself or what?" He chuckled drily, knowing that sometimes things like these seemed impossible to unravel properly, but that was what love was about, really; finding a way to get over arguments and issues together.
"Well I don't know what to do!" He exclaimed with a whine to his voice, setting his cup down onto the table, defeated face staring at Jungkook. "I've apologized to her already, but I don't even know if she reads my messages at all. I tried to somehow help her get another job but she just felt offended-" he said, and Jungkook scoffed, slapping a hand over his face as a form of confirmation that he understood why you were upset about that. "-what?" He asked, genuinely not getting his reaction.
"From what I know, that was the worst you could do Tae." He said. "Listen, it's not about helping her in this situation. It's about showing her that you can actually be a decent human being that reflects on his actions, you can't just always think that replacing something is the answer!" He said, switching his cup with Taes, making the older one raise his brow. "See? I've given you my soda instead of your coffee. Are you cool with that?" Taehyung looked at it for a moment, before she sighed and shook his head. He really was an idiot. "Same thing here, really. You can't just fill holes on streets you already passed because that won't do shit for you in the future. Try and get to a better road instead." He said, smiling encouragingly at his friend. "Just stop being a dick. I mean, I managed to do that!" He exclaimed, and as if he'd summoned his girl in question, a message chimed up on his phone, making him unlock it with a swipe and a few taps, before getting up and patting his friends' shoulder. "I gotta go, can't make my good girl wait!" He said, and Taehyung scoffed playfully.
"You're so disgusting Jungkook, fuck you." He said, and the younger one smiled, waving on his way out. Maybe he was right.
Maybe he needed to take a different road this time.
Tumblr media
"I still don't get why I'm here." You said, stoic face looking at him. He felt kind of intimidated by the entire situation, he had to admit that. He didn't plan this through.
He'd simply called you, surprised that you actually picked up, and told you to meet up with him at his favorite diner, just to talk. Yet he never really thought you would actually show up. This was way further than his plan had covered.
"I.. just want to talk." He said, watching you nervously as you looked at the menu. "I'm uh.. I'm paying, by the way-"
"You think I can't afford it?" You snapped without much volume, eyes staring daggers at him as he visibly almost shrunk down in his seat. Well, he deserved it if he was honest, so he tried to paddle back as best as possible. How the hell was he supposed to diffuse the situation? Jungkook had a way with words, but this just felt like it was digging him deeper into his mess.
"N-No, I just, wanted to be nice-" He said, before sighing, giving up as he leaned back.
"I know." You said, eyes softer this time, as you looked over the menu before putting it down, having made your decision. "What're you getting?" You said, leaning your chin on your hand, looking at him.
As if caught in a cheesy romantic drama, the clouds that had covered the skies broke apart, sun making your skin glow in front of him. He swallowed hard, trying to escape your gaze as his brain was completely empty. "I-uh.. my usual, I guess, I don't really have much appetite these days so I keep it small and simple, you know.." He rambled, and failed to catch your lips turn up a bit at seeing him scrambled up like that.
Maybe it was the fact that you'd recently landed a new position at a local newspaper to write articles online, or it was the fact that your hate for him simply slowly dissipated over time, but you've slowly warmed up to him again, seeing him like this. He seemed genuine this time; not just that high-horse riding flirt everyone seemed to know so well. He was just Taehyung in that moment.
"You ramble when you're nervous?" You asked, leaning your head a bit to the side as he laughed a bit, nodding his head at it. He started to attempt an apology before you smiled. "It's cute." You simply said, before looking at the waitress, telling her your order. Taehyung did the same, feeling a bit lighter already seeing you smile.
It was a start.
Tumblr media
"ugh, my legs hurt." The young woman exclaimed as she got up tiredly, stretching her naked limbs as Taehyung groaned into his pillow, morning lights already seeping through the blinds, blinding him even behind his closed eyelids. He simply turned around, uncaring of whatever she had to say. She'd wanted it rough, after all.
He knew this was wrong to do, yet it almost seemed as if he couldn't stop it. He had been intoxicated again last night, taking anyone with him who was willing to let him use them. It was like a bad habit like picking your nails or chewing on your fingers- yet it was more destructive than these tiny things some people did. Because it destroyed dignity, it made him seem dishonest, it made him just as much of a whore as the woman he'd payed in the past. He wasn't any better.
He knew that.
"Make sure the door's closed when you leave, 'kay?" He mumbled, and he heard something that sounded like a confirmation before the door opened, someone speaking, and then;
He jumped up, startled.
That was your voice.
Tumblr media
Hearing the clattering of things from inside the apartment you turned around, fast on your feet to escape whatever lies he'd serve you this time.
You'd been stupid enough to let yourself warm up to him again, thinking he could genuinely change. Hell, you've even beat yourself up over the fact that you'd maybe simply judged him by his past motives and actions, yet it seemed like you were right all along. He really couldn't change, you'd seen that as soon as your eyes met with the tall black haired woman walking out of his apartment, asking you if you were the next one.
Like you were in some sort of waiting line.
You immediately turned around, walking away from his door in shame, feeling nauseated by the fact that he didn't change. And you were stupid enough to let yourself get closer to him again, thinking he really did make an effort.
"Y/N, wa- fuck, Wait!" He exclaimed behind you, probably stumbling as he tried to run up to you, hair an utter mess and clothes trown onto his form haphazardly. You turned around, eyes just as cold as the day you'd told him you never wanted to see him again. He stopped in his tracks, eyes desperate- yet you didn't back down.
"You wanna fuck me too, is that it?" You exclaimed with voice of ice, making him groan, shaking his head, before you answered something that made his eyes widen. "Okay, then let's get it over with." You said, grabbing his wrist and pulling him back towards his apartment. He stopped you, looking at you as if you'd lost your mind.
Maybe you did.
"Stop, Y/N, no- let me explain-" He said, pulling his hand out of your grasp before he saw your shoulders shake, face hidden from him.
"You're so fucking superficial." You pressed out between gritted teeth, turning around as you shoved him, his back hitting his own door hard as he could only watch you fall apart in front of him in the most heartwrenching of ways. You swallowed, closing your eyes for a moment to regain composure as you looked up at him with eyes still glazed over with tears yet to fall.
Never in a million years he would've thought he'd ever be so intimidated by a girl like you.
"I really tried." You said, watching him intently as if to set him on fire with your gaze. It worked in a way, yet not in any pleasurable one. "I really tried to get over it, but you just-" You said, face contorting in something similar to disgust. "If you were how I assumed you were you would change." You said, before he tried to speak, cutting you off.
"Please, I can try, I can show you-" He exclaimed, before you laughed, with no humor in sight.
"You always say that, and right after you act like you don't care .!" You said, uncaring on how his neighbours opened the windows to listen in on you both. "Imagine our relationship, how fucked would that be, huh?! You probably really thought I'd put myself in harms way like that just for your amusement, but guess what Kim fucking Taehyung." You said, walking up to him, and your gaze hard.
"I'm done."
Tumblr media
"Kim Taehyung I said I don't want to-" You said, ripping the door open to reveal a different person. "Jungkook?" You asked, eyebrows raising. "Is he sending you now to annoy me?" You said, already on the brink of closing the door in front of him, yet Jungkook simply shrugged his shoulders.
"He'd probably cut my dick off if he knew I'm here." He said, and you scoffed, opening the door for him to enter. You watching him out of the corner of your eye as he took his shoes off, before walking behind you, sitting down on the couch. "So." He started, and you looked at him.
"So." You replied, still wary of his presence. Ever since the incident with Taehyung a few weeks ago, said redhead had tried to contact you endlessly- you had yet to read his messages, however. It was a game of cat and mouse, of having him in front of your door just for you to close it immediately, not willing to listen to whatever he had in store for you. You knew he could swoon you over again.
So it was self-defense in a way.
"Tae looks like shit." He said, and you raised your brows, chuckling drily.
"Always has." You said, making him scratch the back of his head.
"I mean, yeah, maybe, but like, he looks shit in a way of, he really creeps me out these days." He said, and you felt yourself get nervous. You knew it didn't concern you, yet your eyes softened a bit at the prospect of Taehyungs health declining. "He called in sick at work on monday. I've seen him yesterday. He's.. punishing himself, in a way I guess." He said, leaning back into the cushions of your tiny couch.
"How so?" You said, genuinely wondering what he meant by that.
"I know this may be hard to understand for you but Tae.. He's someone who can't be alone." He said, sighing. "He basically feeds off of physical contact and social interactions. It's his fuel, if you will." He described, and you nodded. "That's why he does what he does. It doesn't make it any better, fuck no, but, I guess it does explain it a bit." He hummed, looking at you. "He's an asshole." He said, and you nodded.
"But he really loves you."
Your eyes widened, looking at Jungkook as if he'd grown a second head. "What the fuck are you talking about?" You said, genuinely confused by the sudden revelation. Yeah, you guessed that Tae had been interested in you, but love was a huge word with a lot of impact behind it. Just throwing that around was unlike him.
"I've seen it with me and my girl, I can spot that shit." He said. "He's isolating himself because he told me, and I quote, 'If I can't have her, I don't want anyone'. Disgusting, I know, but you get the point." He said, making you look at the floor, deep in thought.
You still had trust issues with Taehyung. The simple fact that he acted so impulsively sometimes, the simple trait of him to always do something unexpected was something that stood between you and him, between you two and a relationship. Pursuing one could be fatal for the both of you- it could easily grow toxic for everyone involved. You didn't want to take that risk, even if he was miserable right now.
Right?
Tumblr media
His movements were slow as he tried to wash the dishes, again stopping after doing the bare minimum.
Yeontan barked up at him, ready to go for a walk. He felt like shit recently, knowing that his dog loved long late night walks with him, things he happily gave him in the past; yet he couldn't bring himself to, again, do the bare minimum. He'd thought about maybe bringing him over to Jungkook for a bit.
He felt useless.
Typically he wasn't like this, yet nowadays he'd finally started to reflect on his actions, and they seemed so disgusting to even himself that he'd simply shut himself off, uncaring on how it affected his own health.
He didn't care anymore.
It wasn't just because of you, to be fair. It was for a number of reasons, but all of them pointed towards him being at fault. And the worst thing was, he knew that he was an asshole.
How the hell was he supposed to fix this?

in which hawke finds a cat: chapter 1 (read on ao3 here)
On a walk through Lowtown one freezing Kirkwall winter, Hawke, Merrill and Isabela find a grumpy stray cat in need of healing and a warm place to stay. (warnings for mildly graphic descriptions of pet injury - it gets healed though)
“Look, Isabela, all I’m saying is that us poor Fereldens -”
“Not so ‘poor’ anymore, sweet thing.”
Hawke snorts and rolls her eyes, huddling closer to Merrill and Isabela to share warmth as they trudge through an endless ocean of sleet.
Winter in Kirkwall is a miserable, wet affair. The freezing winds coming in from the Waking Sea have a way of getting through armor and clothes and reaching right down to your bones, and the torrential rains turn anything below Hightown into a muddy, flooded mess. Lowtown is almost deserted as a result, occupied only by a few exhausted, shivering merchants manning their shabby stalls and the odd beggar sleeping fitfully on a street corner. Hawke wonders how they don’t freeze where they lay - the stone ground is so cold that even Merrill and Fenris both conceded to wearing boots today. She shakes the thought from her head as she walks.
“-right, well, us Fereldens tend to think that salt is too spicy, so you can understand why Anders looks at your stews like they’re about to attack him. He did choke on a whole chilli pepper last Wednesday.”
“Okay, but that was pretty funny, though. The shade of red he went was absolutely adorable.”
“Are you kidding?” Hawke says with a wide grin. Her face underneath her dark fringe has gone pink with the cold, and the skin of her lips has started to crack. “It was hilarious, but we’ve got to feed the man somehow. He already doesn’t eat anywhere near -”
“Vhenan, wait,” Merrill interrupts.
The three of them come to an abrupt halt outside of a gloomy alleyway. The wind is less harsh where they stand in the shadow of the tall, worn buildings, though it still manages to carry Lowtown’s signature scent of blood, sweat and shit right into Hawke’s nostrils.
“What is it, kitten?” Isabela whispers.
“Can you hear that?”
Hawke holds her breath and listens intently to the scraping of weathered wood, the howl of the wind, and … a low, coarse “mow” coming from the alleyway.
Hawke and Merrill turn to each other, faces split into wide grins, before taking off down the alleyway and dragging Isabela behind them by the wrists.
The sound seems to be coming from behind a heap of rotting crates and moth-eaten sacks. Hawke heaves them aside, revealing a large grey tabby with a snaggletooth, a long scar over her pink nose and notches taken out of both ears. She’s curled up by the wall and shivering, and she hisses and puffs up as they approach, but doesn’t run away. As Hawke crouches in front of her, she can see why - the cat has her tail stuck under a pile of heavy terracotta bricks.
“Oh, sweetheart,” coos Hawke, completely ignoring the swipe the cat aims at her when she reaches out. “Can you two see if you can move these bricks? I’ll hang on to her so she doesn’t get away.”
By the time they’re done shifting the bricks, Hawke’s face and hands are covered in deep scratches, and both Merrill and Isabela have fallen victim to a few flailing swipes from the distressed cat, who growls furiously as she’s swaddled in Merrill’s scarf and held tight against Hawke’s chest. Half the bones in her tail seem to be crushed - it’s crusted with old blood and hangs limply out of the scarf. One of her paws has also succumbed to frostbite, the fur matted with ice and the pads blue-black where they should be pink.
“Poor baby,” Merrill sighs, reaching over to wrap the scarf tighter around the cat. “I wonder if she’s got a home and a family somewhere. They must be missing her.”
“She looks pretty feral,” Hawke says. She tries giving the cat a scratch on top of her head, and is promptly bitten and hissed at. “Come on. We should bring her to Anders. He can at least deal with the frostbite and properly amputate the tail.”
Merrill and Isabela nod their assent, and Hawke leads the way through the sleety, stinking streets towards the elevators leading to Darktown.
The elevator creaks and whines as they board it. The chains and gears are covered in a layer of ice, and it takes Merrill melting it with a small handheld flame for the controls to finally release and begin their descent into the undercity. Stepping off at the bottom, they’re assaulted with the sounds of metal hitting metal, wailing children and arguing refugees along with the foul stench of waste, decay and desperation. Unlike Lowtown, Darktown is still full to the brim with people huddled around sputtering fires, hunched over as they soothe their starving babies or upend the contents of their stomach into a corner. Hawke, Merrill and Isabela are watched suspiciously the entire time they walk through the twisting alleys, but they’re visibly well-armed enough that no cutthroats or gang members seem in the mood to risk a confrontation.
The outside of Anders’ clinic is surprisingly free of people. Most winters, Hawke has to push past a swarm of refugees needing food for their children or healing from a mine accident, a spare blanket and somewhere to shelter from the cold. Stepping inside, she sighs with relief as she’s hit with the warmth from the heating rune Anders has scratched on the ground underneath his desk. The clinic unfortunately doesn’t smell much better than the rest of Darktown, but the sharp tang of elfroot and lyrium cuts through the stench enough that it’s a little easier to breathe inside than out.
Every cot in the clinic is occupied, and Anders himself kneels in front of a cot on the back wall, hunched over an elven child’s wounded leg. The child’s mother looks on, shifting anxiously from one foot to another as shredded flesh knits back together under Anders’ hands. When he’s done, Anders murmurs something to the child that makes her smile, and he hands her mother the threadbare blanket from the cot.
As he rises and turns, Hawke can see how purple and hollow his undereyes are from where her, Isabela and Merrill stand in the clinic’s doorway. His hand shakes as he pushes it through his scraggly hair, leather tie long since lost in the chaos of his work. When his eyes finally fall on the three women hovering awkwardly by the door, he frowns and lets out a heavy sigh.
“Hawke, unless you’re actively dying, I really don’t have time for - what’s that?”
Anders steps forward and peers curiously at the bundle in Hawke’s arms. As Hawke tilts the cat forward a little to show Anders, she puts her ears back and growls at him.
“Oh, hello gorgeous,” Anders croons. The frown immediately lifts from his face, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he beams down at the cat. She hisses in response.
“Where did you find this sweetheart?”
“In an alleyway in Lowtown,” Hawke says. “Had her tail crushed under a pile of bricks. Her back paw has frostbite, too.”
“Poor thing. Bring her to the back room and I’ll have a look at her.”
The back room is separated from the main clinic by a cracked, rickety door. Inside is dark and cramped, the only furniture a rickety table and chair, a cracked washbasin, a dresser with a wonky door and a bed far too small for Anders’ lanky frame. The bedclothes have been stripped, likely given to a refugee, and the wardrobe door hangs open to reveal the inside is empty save a few spare bandages and potions. Anders must have moved all his clothes to his room in Hawke’s estate.
Anders deadbolts the door and closes the wardrobe. “Put her on the table.”
The cat, to her credit, doesn’t immediately try to run when Hawke lays her on the table and pulls away Merrill’s scarf. She instead backs up to the far edge of the table and raises her hackles, spitting and swiping at Anders’ hand as he reaches for her.
“Hey, sweetheart, you’re okay,” Anders murmurs to her, braving another attack on his hand to investigate her injured tail. His hand glows a muted blue as he hovers it over the worst of the damage, and his brows draw together in a frown. He does the same to her frostbitten foot, and lets out a heavy sigh.
“The good news is I’ll only have to take off half the tail,” he says. “The bad news is that the foot will have to go too, and she’s seriously dehydrated and malnourished. She can’t go straight back out onto the streets once I’ve healed her.”
Hawke considers this for a moment and shrugs. “That’s fine. She can stay with us.”
Anders’ eyes light up and he stares openly at Hawke. He barely seems to notice when the cat nips at his hand. “Really?”
“Really. Weren’t we talking about getting a cat, anyway?”
“We were,” Anders says. “But I thought you’d prefer one less …”
“Hideous?” says Isabela.
“Grumpy?” says Merrill.
Anders scowls.
“Hey! She’s adorable, and she’s only lashing out because she’s scared and in pain! You would be too! She just needs some love and care and I’m sure she’ll be an absolute softie in no time.” Anders tries to scratch under the cat’s ear, and is rewarded with another bite. His hands are already littered with tiny wounds that he’ll have to clean later to avoid infection.
“Well then,” Hawke chuckles. “Once her foot and tail are dealt with, you can bring her back home. Don’t get too excited, you’re the one who has to give her a bath.”
Anders beams, the corners of his eyes crinkling again. He looks happier than Hawke has seen him since … well, ever, really.
“That’s not a problem, Hawke.”

Hello dear! I kind of did a spin on this request, and the story starts around the time of their first meeting and shows the progression into a romantic relationship. Mildly inspired by Tenma’s home screen quote to practice a kissing scene.
I think it’s a good blend of angsty, spicy, funny, and fluffy, but you be the judge! I am quite fond of this piece, and I hope you are, too!  <3
Tumblr media
Bad First Impressions
Despite your best efforts to suppress it, a dramatic sigh rumbles past your lips. And to think that you had actually looked forward to working with Tenma Sumeragi. You had watched his performances in a few teen dramas and found his ability to be quite impressive, and he was highly lauded among other actors in your professional circle for being the consummate professional and perfectionist. More like pretentious and pompous.
“…and you there-“ the haughty redhead pointed towards a mousy looking boy sitting at a diner table on set.
“Uhh, B- Bill?” the mousy boy responded meekly.
“Yeah, sure – no one just stares at the person across from them without saying anything at all. It’s creepy and weird. That goes for you, too, guy with the glasses.” He moved an accusatory finger towards Bill’s dining companion. “Haven’t you guys ever heard of “peas and carrots”? I mean, this is amateur hour stuff that you don’t even need any skill to execute…”
“Can you just close your mouth and do some work, Sumeragi?”
You could hear a pin drop in the spacious sound studio. The cantankerous teen star whipped his head towards you with a pointed glare. You were an up-and-coming actress in the teen drama scene, and although you were a year older than he was, his acting resume was at least three times the length of yours. Sure, you were pretty, and you seemed passably talented, but you had a long way to go before you could even reach the echelon of his level of expertise. And you had the audacity to criticize his judgment??
“Excuse me?!” His eyes raked up and down your form, sizing you up in an attempt to appear intimidating. The manner in which you nonchalantly rested your hand upon your hip, head-cocked and eyes rolled; it was utterly disrespectful to him, a major authority in the industry, not to mention disrespectful to your fellow actors, to the very sacred space of-
“And to think that I had heard you were a competent leader…” you continued in a jaded tone. There was a visible flare in Tenma’s cheeks, the fury sizzling behind his eyes red hot.
To his credit, he certainly had a high level of talent, but that gave him no authority to degrade his teammates, whether they be fellow actors or the key grip. You weren’t normally this abrasive, but charming teen cutie Tenma was a self-important bully who was surrounded by “yes” men. This suave schoolboy star needed a wakeup call. The scandalized celebrity opened his mouth to commence a tirade when the director stepped in.
“Now, now, please folks. Let’s be civil…” Pinching the bridge of his nose, he glanced between you both with a pleading look.
With a final sour stare in your direction, Tenma transformed back into TV’s favorite high school hottie with a heart of gold.
“Yes, of course,” he replied, and you also nodded in consent. Everyone placated Tenma, endured his toxic attitude because he brought them money. But one thing was for sure, you had no intention to relinquish control to tyrannical Tenma.
Japan’s Newest Sweetheart
Tenma rushed down the street, tipping the brim of his hat further down his forehead, his alarming speed drawing attention from passersby. But he couldn’t slow down now; it was only a matter of time before Igawa caught up to him and asked where he was going, and why he was going by himself, and what was he looking for after all, and a number of other questions whose answers he would very much prefer not to explain.
With the convenience store in sight, he quickened his pace until he reached the threshold, throwing open the door with a tenacity that startled the cashier. Returning upright from where he hunched over his newspaper, the shopkeep threw a cautious eye to the young man at the doorway, wearing a suspicious amount of accessories and panting like he was running from the law.
The ginger on a mission performed a quick visual sweep of the displays until he located the object he desired. Bounding forward, he approached the magazine rack and flipped open the arts & entertainment periodical to the index. …page 31…
Rifling through the flimsy pages of the gossip rag, he at last reached the article which he had sought. There looking up at him was a page-wide spread of you, armed with an impossibly charming smile and a sparkle of mischief in your eyes. The page opposite of your come-hither headshot bore the headline “Japan’s Newest Sweetheart.”
It was infuriating. You were a nobody – barely any experience at all, and certainly not in anything particularly noteworthy – yet you were the one pushed to the forefront of advertising. His eyes flicked back to your picture once, twice… I mean, it was a good photo.
Ignoring the manner in which his throat seized when met with your 2-dimensional gaze, he directed his attention to the article. His eyes tripped along the words, “captivating new series… “ “character growth and development…” – aha! He spotted his name among the text and focused on the containing paragraph.
“blah, blah… he’s a true veteran in the industry…” Tenma puffed up like a rooster at this remark. Damn right, I am. He continued to read your commentary, mouth silently forming the shape of the words, scouring each sentence for more well-deserved praise. You went on to describe the characters, their struggles and how the cast related to their roles… One line in particular raised his brow. Tenacious young man?? Young man, what? She’s like, one year older than I am! He rose his head, appalled that you would speak of him like a child. He turned back to the print, reviewing the sentence a second time. She’s not even a whole year older, we’re practically the same age. He bent his brow in concentration. He counted back from your birthday. Yeah, totally not even a year old. Tch. He chose to ignore the fact that he recalled your birthday so quickly and glowered down at you while you beamed right back up at him.
It was undeniable that he was pissed off due of all the attention you were receiving when he was the lead. Possibly because… well, maybe you did deserve it. He had come to respect your acting ability over the past few months, in particular your impressive ability to become truly immersed in a role.
But maybe also because…. well, you looked good in this spread. Like, really good. Your smile was intoxicating; why didn’t you smile at him like that?  On second thought, maybe it was for the best that you hadn’t. His hardened exterior would likely dissolve, and he’d be a stuttering, fumbling mess. Scanning your features, he noticed that they airbrushed away a tiny birthmark on your face. Or maybe it was a freckle?  And they did something to your eyebrows, they just looked off. Why would they even do that? They were perfectly fine eyebrows…
“Hey, buddy, are you going to buy that or not? This ain’t a library.”
Tenma’s head shot upright, dazed for a few moments before he comprehended the words spoken to him. His tense fists gripped the wrinkled magazine tightly, fragile pages strained and starting to tear. Loosening his hold, he spared a final glimpse at your face before neatly closing the pages and smoothing out the bent cover.
“Uhh, yeah. I am.”
Sliding his shades further up his nose with his pointer, he coolly ambled to the checkout area and lay the gentleman’s digest upon its surface. The material refused to remain flat after its recent abuse, leaving your shirt and neck visible beneath the dog-eared pages. The employee recognized the article right away.
“That new actress is really something, huh? They say she’s going to be the next big thing.”
Tenma scoffed but offered no discourse, handing over the required yen.
“Pretty cute, too,” the young worker added as he slipped the purchased item into a plastic bag.
“Yeah, whatever,” Tenma huffed heatedly, snatching the illustrated booklet containing your first big media premiere and returning to the sidewalk to await Igawa.
Salty to Sweet
“Don’t they teach you how to stay on task in Middle School? Or are you in High School?  Your lack of common sense is misleading…”
“Funny,” Tenma retorted caustically, though more annoyed at himself than you. He had been finding it challenging to focus as of late since he bought that magazine and he kept screwing up on the same damn lines. His short fuse was growing ever shorter with every butchered word.
You could see that Tenma was downward spiraling; the spark he always carried behind those big, vibrant eyes was fading fast.
“Look, why don’t you try something else…” you started, preparing for opposition.
“What?” the taller boy began, with no small amount of skepticism. Ignoring his sour attitude, you stood opposite him and continued in a calm tone.
“Try talking to me about something you really like while staying in character.”
“Talk about something I like?” Tenma replied incredulously. “What am I, six?”
“Sometimes I wonder, with the way you hide your vegetables under your mashed potatoes during lunch, so no one notices you throwing them away.”  You smirk knowingly, pleased with the look of surprise on your fellow actor’s face.
“You saw me do that?”  Tenma stared at you with a look of both wonder and bewilderment. He was certain no one could see him do that, and you sat at another table entirely! How on earth could you have been paying close enough attention to him to spot that, unless…
“Everyone knows that,” you deflected quickly, the rosy tint on your cheeks belying your innocence in the matter. “So what are you going to talk about?” Your bitter scene partner rolled his eyes. As a veteran in the industry, he felt pretty foolish having you talk him through basic acting exercises. Yet….  There was no question that he was struggling with the script, and no better ideas came to mind. With a sigh of defeat, Tenma offered the one outlet that came to mind.
“Bonsai…” he mumbled in a barely audible tone.
“What was that?” you ask, leaning it. Your close proximity fuels a steadily growing warmth along the back of his neck. He takes a sudden step backward and repeats himself louder.
“Bonsai! Are you deaf?”
“Bonsai, huh?” You smile with amusement. “Well, that’s something you don’t read in all your magazine interviews.”
“Reading my interviews, are you?” he responds dryly, but his stomach does a flip. He thinks back on the magazine he has featuring you, kept privately stashed away in a box under his bed. The thought that maybe you had a magazine featuring him tucked away somewhere in your bedroom causes chills that ran down his broad arms and shoulders.
“Nevermind that,” you grumble, brushing a stray hair out of your face. “Well, bonsai it is, then. Whenever you’re ready.”
You spend the next few minutes listening to Tenma ramble on about bonsai pruning, the proper tools to use, and even the proper light, pH and moisture levels to ensure optimal bonsai health.  Despite the fact that you now know more about bonsai trees than you would have ever cared to know, it seems that engaging, dynamic Tenma has returned. He comes to a full stop after finishing a discourse on bonsai diseases; his head now feeling clear, he’s convinced that he can recite his lines without hesitation.
“That was really good,” you commend him honestly, mirroring the pleased look on his face.
“Naturally,” he boasts in a cocky tone, feeling confident following his flawlessly delivered bonsai monologue. “It’s amazing how pleasant you can be when you’re not yelling at me,” he jibes, looking rather pleased with himself. You raise a brow at his renewed brashness, but you’ve always been quick on the trigger.
“It’s amazing how handsome you can be when you’re not scowling,” you reply with a smug expression, reveling in the crimson darkening his cheeks.
“Flattery will get you nowhere,” he mumbles with an air of mild embarrassment irritation, rubbing the back of his neck which is now damp with sweat.
“Who says I want to go anywhere with you?” you shoot back with a patronizing smirk before turning your attention back to the script. “SO, where were we?” you inquire loudly before he can get a word in edgewise. Thumbing through the marked-up pages, you see in your periphery that he is doing the same.
“Scenes 12 and 14 we did, 17 we did… no need to go over scene 28…”
“Why are we not practicing scene 28?” Tenma inquired in a cheeky tone. He knew exactly which scene 28 was: the kissing scene. You hadn’t gone over it yet, in read-throughs or on set. After you had just bested him in a mini battle of wits, this would be a great opportunity to even the playing field.
He had performed at least a dozen kiss scenes; it was old hat for him by now, and he knew for sure (not that he had googled your TV and film credits or anything) that you had never performed one. He was certain you’d flounder in search of a clever comeback, then, admitting defeat, blush profusely and outright refuse to do it.
“Fine, let’s do it.” You were no fool, and Tenma Sumeragi couldn’t bluff to save his life.
If Tenma wasn’t youthful and in great health, he might fear he were having a heart attack. Words seized up in his throat, and he could only manage a curt nod. He walked in a small circle, shaking his limbs as he often did while getting into character. He could do this, this was nothing. He had kissed, like, at least 12 girls before. 12! That was more girls than most men kissed in their entire lifetime! Wasn’t it? He couldn’t really think straight. With a long breath in, and out, he reformed his strategy.
He would perform a star-worthy kiss, absolutely knock-your-socks-off amazing, and then swagger out of the room while you were still swooning and dazed. His ego swelled a bit at the thought of leaving you desperate for another kiss, but his blood ran fast and furious at the thought of… well, actually having the kiss.
“I’ve seen the way you look at me,” you started in the tone of your character’s persona, the sudden smoldering look in your eye plucking at his every last nerve.
“At lunch, in the hall… even waiting for the bus.” Slowly, you crossed the floor towards Tenma’s frozen form. “You’ve given me flirty smiles, you’ve given me teasing winks, but there’s one thing you have yet to give me...” His pulse pounded in his ears as you leaned in closer, far closer than you had ever been before. His eyes flicker anxiously to your mouth, his breath held tightly in his throat.
“A kiss” you purr, biting your lip with the thrill of anticipation. Your lip bite just about crushes any dignity that remains in Tenma; tracing the lines on your lips with a wanton stare, it takes him a few seconds of feeble gaping before he remembers he has a line.
“Come and get it,” he whimpered, his line in a tone more befitting the token band geek than a smooth high school hunk. And get it, you did.
His script is lost to the floor as you press your lips onto his, his body rendered both limp and tight all at once. He did not expect this kind of kiss from you. Or maybe it was because he was used to a stage kiss, with twenty people watching and instructions from several individuals on how to hold his mouth at just the right angle for the camera. This… this was a kiss kiss. Your soft mouth was moving fluidly against his with such hypnotic, sweet caresses that he was convinced that he had never truly kissed someone before now. It was humbling but delicious; he had no control, and he couldn’t care less.
He couldn’t contain the small whimper of disappointment you drew from his throat when at last you pulled away, slyly wiping your reddened lips with the back of your hand. Tenma watched you with a mixed look of shock and awe, as though you had just miraculously materialized from thin air. Practice was over.
“Don’t lose that script,” you called over your shoulder cheerfully as you exited the practice space. “I think you could use another review of that scene.”

The Interview
You: …and it’s been bittersweet, but we’re both ready to move onto new projects. Isn’t that right, Tenten?
Interviewer: Tenten? That’s adorable, is that your nickname for Tenma?
You: Yeah, I call him Tenten because to me, he’s a ten out of ten. [You place an overly-dramatic kiss on his cheek]
Tenma: [Feigns a gagging sound while seated beside you, but reciprocates the kiss] That is a heinous lie, by the way, on both counts. [Tenma’s ability to poke fun at himself is refreshing, his overall manner humble and gracious, demonstrating his tremendous growth from child star to the consummate professional actor.]
Tenma: Actually, one of my fellow trou- uh, one of my friends at the Mankai Company, Kazunari, gave me that nickname.
Interviewer: The Mankai Company, that’s right! You’re putting on a production soon, aren’t you?
Tenten: We are! I’d love to give you the details of our production if you could publish them alongside this article.
Interviewer:  Absolutely. [Turning to you] And do you usually attend Tenma’s performances? I know both of your schedules are rather hectic these days, with all the job offers you’ve both received following the highly successful final season of your most recent television drama.
You: Yes, absolutely; I attend every one.
Tenma: In the front row, every performance. [He links his arm in yours, speaking with a tangible sense of pride]
Interviewer: I’ve noticed you have at least a half dozen bonsai trees in your apartment. Is that a mutual hobby?
You: Well, it’s our thing. I mean, it’s his thing really, but it’s kind of both our thing now. [You smile at Tenma with affection]
Interviewer: And, I’ve been meaning to ask - that framed script on the wall there, is that a keepsake? Or a valuable script from one of your favorite films perhaps? [The interviewer gestures to the worn script hanging above the mantle, protected and held in place by a thick pane of glass, bearing a large penned “SCENE 28”]
Tenma: Yeah, it has a…  special meaning. [Your boyfriend contributes, glancing into your eyes with a knowing smile that only you two could understand]
