Okay i watched dead reckoning again and i have words
Okay i didnt hate it id say i liked it a little more this time but i think it was just cause i knew what to expect.
I have two things to complain about. I can excuse everything else especially since i havent seen part 2 and im assuming some of the stuff will be dealt with better in that movie but these two things hurt me a lot.
First off we all know im an avid mcq podcast listener i listened to one today and he talks a lot about movies having too much explanation when its not really needed and then he went and did that. Some scenes like the first scene with kittridge was good that worked really well especially since we were waiting for the reveal but scenes like the one in venice with everyone at the party are so dialogue heavy and theres so much information to take in. This movie is a lot of action all packed together like theres always more than one thing happening at once and then long drawn out dialogue with people just sitting in a room. I dont wanna hate on mcq and i know a lot of the action probably got cut together and it was paced differently before it got cut down from 4 hours but it just seems weird to me that thats how it is.
Second is the stunts. I already said some stuff about this but im really mad.
I can understand to an extent why people love the car chase and i think toms driving is really cool but hayley ruins it. I get the humour its nice to have a funny moment but let tom drive the whole time thats what im here for. The longest stunt? in the movie isnt even fully toms thing.
The cliff jump is the one im the most upset about and i really hate how its cut. The bits with ethan and benji are too far apart and i know it takes him a long time to get up the mountain but i wouldve liked more of them. The helicopter sequence in fallout is a really good example and i hate comparing stunts in these movies but im going to. They spent time with other characters and cut back to tom doing his thing really well in fallout, i had time to enjoy what was going on and get into it before it switched unlike with this all of ethan scenes going up the mountain are just forgotten right after they happen cause they’re so short. Same with the actual jump i know how hard it is to safely film that and im assuming there isnt more of it because of that but it would’ve been nice to have a conversation between ethan and benji while ethans trying to land on the train. It was nice we still got to see tom fly at the end of the movie but it still wasnt enough in my opinion.
The train. Oh boy the train. Mcq i love you i was so excited for the train but im so let down. I know its all real but you can see where they added stuff in with cgi and the thing i love about mission movies is you cant tell when they do that if they do and in this one you could, its weird cause with the cliff jump that looked good i didnt have a problem with how the ground looked so idk why the train was so different it was probably the cameras i just thought of that fuck you mcq and your multiple cameras i love you lets make out.

Flight to Vietnam (7/5-7/6) | Kalvin Nguyen (UCI)
IT'S TIIIIMMMMEEEE! Honestly, it feels so surreal that mission trip is about to begin and that we'll be in Vietnam in just a few (or actually a lot of ╥﹏╥) hours! I was so excited to be working with and getting to know so many of the fellow 15Gers during this trip and working under the same cause and goal! I was dropped off with by my family and bid them a bittersweet goodbye before being greeted by our amazing BOD members, Hayley and Kat (idk where Thu was, probably tweakin or something). With my two suitcases in hand and the large MEMO Box #41 (okay I got a cart for like $6 but same difference ┐(°‿°)┌), I entered the airport to join the rest of the 15Gers. And.... barely anyone was there yet because I arrived like an hour early for call time, so just imagine a bunch of wooos, yipees, and high-fives.
Okay, the next part is just typical airport check-in and security and kinda boring, so let's just fast forward and... yay! Got through some stellar American TSA! Anyways... we got in and I was so excited to get onto our flight at 12:45AM! I walked to the gate with so much anticipation and excitement with Calvin and Wendy. We were so close and just had to get onto the plane.... in 2 hours... (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻ To calm my insanity, I went to explore the airport shops with Calvin, Cindy, and Wendy! We didn't really buy anything cause... well... we're still in America and we're broke college students, but it was fun hanging out and perusing the different stores! By the time we returned to the rest of group, we still had an hour left. To kill more time, I joined in the playing card game festivities (no gambling here though, gotta still keep everything non-profit ⊂(▀¯▀⊂ )). I lost miserably but before I even knew it, we were all getting ready to board our gate!
Tumblr media
Above: Calvin, Cindy, Wendy, and I wearing some cool shades in a US airport store.
We finally boarded the plane safe and sound but it's pretty boring for the next 13 hours so it's time for a time skip! So quick recap of the plane ride. I'm a grown, big, strong man and sleep is for the weak, so I ended up sleeping 80% of the plane ride like a baby (•‿•). Also quick plane food review: It sustained me, and satiated my hunger. Good but could be better. 7/10
So we didn't fly directly into Vietnam, but had a layover in Taipei for 2 hours. Unfortunately, our MEMO group got split in half for this layover with the other group having a 9 hour layover. Since I was part of the shorter layover, I couldn't really go explore the Taipei airport (it was huge btw! ( 〇□〇)) or go outside to explore. I really wanted to get some boba from its place of origin, but I guess it'll have to wait. Maybe I can get it on the way back to the US (sorry to break the immersion but post-mission trip kalvin here! he didn't get his boba......╰(ɵ̥̥ ˑ̫ ɵ̥̥ ╰)). To pass by the 2 hours, I played some card games with Jules, Mia, Michi, Wendy, and Avery. After playing cards the first time back at Ontario Airport, there's no way I could lose! I didn't win a single time... We were having so much fun that we didn't realize there was a group of elderly crowding around us and watching us play! It was such a fun time, but we had to board our flight to Vietnam!
Skip by 3ish hours and we finally arrived to Vietnam! The plane ride was pretty uneventful so... sorry, no ranking this time. After we made a swift transition through customs, we waited patiently for our luggage and knew that we were in Vietnam from all the duct-taped boxes on the carousel. After we managed to get all our luggage, we reunited with Joseph (my fav uci fundraising chair (〜^∇^ )〜) and hauled all of our luggage to the bus which was quite a walks away... After the ordeal that was luggage, we went to a nice lunch spot called RuNam which was pretty good or maybe I was just tired. Anyways pretty good! Would eat there again! 8/10
Tumblr media
Above: Meeting up with Joseph at Vietnam.
Finally... after pretty much two days, we finally made it to our hotel! After such a long and grueling journey, I would be finally able to lay in a comfortable bed in an air-conditioned room! Sleep was finally on the horizon and I was ready to just fall asleep as soon as I made contact with the bed! So then... I went out with some friends to go exploring! We went to Cho Ben Thanh and Miniso to do a little shopping (i didn't buy anything though). The highlight of the excursion was when we went to this coffee shop called COMA. I got a lemongrass, orange, peach tea which was so good! 9/10 However, this place taught me to never get matcha ever in Vietnam unless you love floral tasting drinks (second immersion break: unless it is McD's omg please try the matcha there it's so good!!!! not sponsored but if you're interested McD's, please contact [email protected]! (・ω<)). Unfortunately, Joseph and Cindy both got a Matcha Frostie and everyone universally did not like it. 3/10
I swear this is the last paragraph! Anyways, we got back to the hotel and rested up while we waited for the second group to arrive! Afterwards, we ate dinner which was primarily seafood which I usually like but this place was alright. Edible but not bad. 5/10 Finally, I got to sleep in my bed, getting all the rest to prepare me for a chaotic and unforgettable mission trip! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

sweet one
what happens when Elijah finds a little girl in the woods
Elijah was walking back from the bayou after checking on baby hope, his hand reached out for his car door but he hesitated hearing soft sobs and cries, his head immediately turned to the direction of where Hayley was staying thinking it was hope but when he heard them again, they came from another direction, his moved closer to the cries, he stepped even closer, his footsteps got quite louder, he knew that he got closer because there was a desperate attempt to quieten the cries, a few still slipping through, he heard the leaves shift as the person moved around the tree, he knew that it was the tree he was looking at, he moved quickly so the person didn't have time to run off, he didn't know if they were hurt or not, when he got a good look at the small thing, he saw it was a 4-year-old girl, she was cowering in fear, she looked filthy, her arms are covering her tear-stained face
Elijah-"hello there sweet one," he says kneeling down to your level, your arms were still covering your face, but you were calming down, the presence of the man, making you feel safe and protected
Elijah-"it's okay sweet one, I'm not going you hurt you" your arms moved down to hold your knees closer to your chest, Elijah smiled at the little sign of trust,
Elijah-"now sweet one, how did you get here, it's not safe for you out here at night," he said softly as he continued to stay in front of you, holding a comforting smile
y/n-"mommy said we were going on a trip, they told me to get out of the car and then they drove off, mommy left me, she left me" you cried holding her head into her knees, Elijah placed a hand on your knee making you look up at him with puffy eyes, he moved to sit next to you is knees up spreading slightly, he knew that the little one was no threat, she most likely needed someone
Elijah-"what your name little one," he said looking over at the girl, he picked up one of the sticks near them swirling it around in his fingers
y/n-"I'm y/n, what's your name," you said staring at him
Elijah-"I'm Elijah, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said offering you a hand, you put your small hand in his shaking it
Elijah-"now little one, would you like to come with me, I can get you cleaned up and something to eat" you looked at him excited but then hesitancy flooded back into your mind
Riley-"promise you're nice," you said worriedly with tears still fell from your face
Elijah-"I promise," he said warmly, you unfolded your legs and stood up on shaky legs when Elijah got a better look at you, you were thinner than the sticks that were surrounding you, you were incredibly pale, he stood up himself and the little girl stared up at him, Elijah picked her up from the ground she held her head against his chest staining his button-up shirt
Elijah-"you're going to be okay sweet one" he walked back to the car, with you still in his arm he opened the passenger door and sat you there, he helped you strap in your belt and you sat there nervously, Elijah walked to the driver's side and climbed in, he gave a sympathetic smile and started the car
at the Mikaelson compound
Freya-"did you take a child" she practically yelled when she saw her brother walk in with a little girl, Elijah shook his head, the little girl buried her head into his chest
Elijah-"no technically she came with me willingly" Freya narrowed her eyes in confusion, as Klaus came downstairs sharing the same bewildered look
Klaus-"I asked you to check on my child not bring a random one back brother," he said glaring at the child who avoided the pairs gaze
Elijah-" she needed help brother, she was alone in the woods, and your daughter is okay, she and Hayley are both fine," he said adjusting his grip holding her a little higher
Klaus-"and what do you plan on doing with her, take her in? look after her," he said somewhat aggressively
Elijah-"ill do whatever she needs me to do brother," he said protectively, he shot a glare at his destructive younger brother, elijah left them where they were standing, taking her up to his room, the little girl looked around curiously at the extravagant room, she looked slightly amazed, Elijah sat her down on the bed, giving a slight chuckle at her reaction,
elijah-"now, we need to get you out of those dirty clothes, but you have nothing to wear sweet one" he looked around confused, while your little eye's wandered the room, looking at every detail,
freya-"i can watch her while you go get a few things" freya offered from the doorway, both of the eyes were on her
elijah-"are you okay with that" he said looking towards you, and you looked unsure, with tears threatening to escape from your eyes again, elijah quickly knelt in front of you again, just like he did when they first met, he took your little hands into his
elijah-"its okay little one, you can trust freya, she's nice I promise" your eyes looked over at freya, she gave a warm smile, and your mouth pulled into a smile,
elijah-"and i promise I wont be long, ill be back before you know it" he said already growing attached to you, you nodded as freya stepped further into the room, elijah nodded at her and he left the room,
freya-"hello there sweet pea" she said sitting next to you, you looked down at your feet plaing with your fingers
y/n-"hi"she said quietly, freya smiled at her, she understood being afraid, it was practically oozing off of her
freya-"your going to be okay, elijah really likes you, he'll look after you, we all will" she said trying to calm her fears
y/n-"who was that man, downstairs, he's sounds mean" freya laughed slightly and nodded
freya-"that's klaus, he can be mean sometimes, but he will warm up to you" you smiled
klaus-"you never know I might not", klaus said jokingly from the door way, his arms folded against his chest, his body horizontal against the door way
freya-"klaus! don't be cruel shes just a kid" freya warned, he just smirked and looked over at you, he never got a chance to see your face, with it being buried in his brothers chest
klaus-"cute little thing aren't you" he said, your nose scrunched up with the smile that was left on your face from klaus's compliment
klaus-"of course our brother would find a child in the woods and bring her home" he said his eyes directing towards his sister
freya-"she needed help klaus and will you stop, she's sitting right here" she said nodding her head towards you looking up at him
klaus-"you can stay here, though my brother would most likley stake me himself if I kicked you out" you smiled at him and he smiled back, klaus spun on the door frame leaving the room, not long after elijah returned with a bag of items
elijah-"thank you dear sister" she smiled and left the room, elijah closed the door behind her and turned back to you
elijah-"now that wasn't so bad was it"you shook her head, and elijah smiled, he walked towards you sitting on the bed
elijah-"lets get you cleaned up sweet one" she smiled and elijah took you into his arms and he walked you into the bathroom
once he got you cleaned up and bathed, he dressed you in one of the outfits he had gotten you, a loose bottom up cotton shirt, with a daisy embroidery on the collar, a loose skirt connected to the shirt, it was one of the nicest things that you have ever worn, you thanked him and threw your arms around him, your wet hair dampend his blazer but he didn't mind, a soft kiss pressed against your temple, at that second you knew that you could trust him, you knew he was there for you
he helped you of the counter and let you run into his bedroom, you spun around in the dress holding the edges of it, a grin was wide across her face
elijah-"come on sweet one, lets get you ready for bed" he says sitting in the large chair, you ran up to him and sat on a stool he had gotten out, elijah smiled and grabbed the towel he had laid out while you were spinning in the dress,
eijah-"close your eyes sweet one" confusion pulled at your face but then elijah started drying your hear with a towel, making you erupt into giggles, elijah stoped after around a minute, giggles still coming from you,
elijah-"i gotta make sure your hairs dry little one, if not you could get a headcold, elijah continued drying your hair, making pure laughter come from you, elijah even let a few laughs out himself, after he was content with how dry your hair was, it wasn't completely dry it was just dry enough where he could brush it, he threw the towel in his laundry basket, and picked up the brush he had gotten you, and started to comb through your hair,
y/n-"thank you," you said sweetly getting off the small stool, Elijah nodded and moved the stool back next to his wardrobe,
Elijah-"now..." he said turning back towards the room, where he saw you struggling to get onto his raised bed
Elijah-"oh little one," he says contently, you look up at him with a cheeky smile, arms draped over the sheets, he picked you folding your legs over his arm so you, he kicked his own shoes off and sat you down next to him, he shrugged the blazer off of his shoulders, pulling his tie loose before pulling it from around his neck, he unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt
y/n-"you kept your promise, you are nice" you said cuddling into him
Elijah-"ill always keep my promises to you" he said wrapping an arm around her
y/n-"can i ask you something, two things actually" you clarified,
Elijah-" of course"
y/n-"is this my home now" she stared at him with hopefully eyes, elijah smiled lovingly at her, his heart filling with pure joy, a feeling he hadn't felt in a very long time
Elijah-"indeed it is, my little one" you smiled widely, joy filling her broken little heart too,
y/n-"and can I call you daddy, I've never had one before" elijahs breath got caught in his throat, before he was turned he always wanted a family, a little one of his one to hold and promise his undying love too, to protect, and teach everything that he knew, but when his mother turned him into a vampire, his quickly lost all hope for that dream, but here it is, his longest lost dream had come back and was sitting next to him, asking him to be her father
elijah-"of course you can sweet one, it would be my greatest honour to be your father"you smiled giddly and hugged you small arms around him, he greeted her by doing the same, pulling you into his lap, holding you against his chest, he reached down and grabbed something from the ground, you eyes were glued to it the second it got to your eye level, it was a beige stuffed bunny, with long floppy ears and blush pink nose
Elijah-"i got these for you, I hope you like it" he says passing it to her and you quickly snatched it away in excitement, hugging it into your chest
y/n-"i love it daddy thank you, thank you," you said hugging it into you staring down at the soft bunny, Elijah was still caught up on her saying the word 'daddy', he doubts he will ever get used to it

Tumblr media
Everything went back in the right place. You finally could relax and enjoy the company Bucky gave you, not worrying about him getting badly injured or in the worst case, dead. Just thinking about it makes you smile, remembering those times he would decided to spend his time in your place instead of his. At the start he didn’t say anything at all, just nod and occasionally grunt but as the days went by he started to speak —just one sentence but still, it’s better than nothing—.
Now here you are, at Sarah and Sam’s place, celebrating the effort him and Bucky did to stop Karli but specially celebrating the fact that Sam is now Captain America.
“I cleared the whole list.” Was the very first thing he said when he found you among the crowd of people that decided to join the celebration.
Your face had a expression of shock and when you registered in your mind what he said you smiled. It was the biggest smile he had even seen on you and he loved it.
You take his head in between your hands and bring him close to you, he immediately puts his hands on your waist and gives you a tiny squish. Bucky closes his eyes when he feels your forehead rest against his and sighs with happiness, it feels nice to have your warm and loving hands touching him again after being away from you for more than two weeks.
"I'm so proud of you Buck." You softly speak, you start caressing his cheeks with your thumbs and close the distance between the two of you, finally connecting lips and melting in each others touch.
"Please! Children are watching." Sam´s voice sounds around you and you tear apart from your boyfriend while rolling your eyes.
Sam approaches you and gives you a hug. "You had to ruin the moment like that, you ass." You push him with your shoulder and he laughs.
You take Bucky's right hand and guide him through the crowd, you spot a free table and decide to sit on it. He lightly taps his fingers on his leg and that makes you feel happier, that was a sign that gave away his excitement for something. It's something you learned to notice within the months you've spend next to him after the blip.
It's nice being able to finally take a breath and lay down without the worry of wondering who or what will try to kill you next month. Of course the world isn't at the best point right now, but it felt perfect for you and Bucky. Specially for him. He's now available to feel happiness after living in hell for so many years.
"You know, I was so worried seeing you fight last night." You slightly turn your body in Bucky's arms and watch his face.
He keeps staring at the sunset and turns his head towards your face, a small smile on his lips. "Good thing I took you with me." He teased and you groan.
It was a reaction he had, while fighting he took your leg so he wouldn't fall but you weren't ready for it so he ended up falling with you on top of him.
"Yeah well, you're an asshole for doing that, I wasn't ready!" You turn again and lay your back on his chest. "I mean at least if we ended up dying you and I would be together for the rest of the years."
He lets a loud laugh out and starts shaking his head.
"What makes you think I would die like that?"
"Keep going and when I die I'll haunt your old ass." You speak with a pout on your lips.
Bucky takes your chin, making turn only your head. He looks directly to your eyes and caresses your jaw, admiring you for a few seconds until he decided to speak again.
"I won't let you die, never." He murmured and gave you a peck on the lips.
You hummed in content at his words. You took his metal hand and interlaced your fingers with his.
It's moments like this when it made it all feel worth it and you wouldn't change it for nothing, you're his safe place and his yours. He rests his chin on the curve of your neck and sighs, he stares again at the sunset and starts thinking about how his life would be he if didn't have you on it. There would be some days he would have a complete breakdown and start doubting if he really deserves being loved by you or by everyone but especially you.
He wonders if he deserves to have another chance at life after all the pain he caused. But you always reassure him with kisses all over his face.
"I was thinking that you know, we can officially live together now that you're therapy free." He nods at your words. "But we're going to search up new places."
"I agree, I think I saw a rat last time I used the kitchen." Bucky jokes.
_
You groan as you place a heavy box on the ground. Bucky comes in after you and clicks his tongue.
"What?" You ask while narrowing your eyes at him.
"You're so dramatic, why are you acting like you just ran a marathon?" He mocks with a smile. "But you're lucky because this is the last box." He puts the box that his hands hold on the ground next to yours and then placed his hands on his hips.
You jump with excitement and extent your arms indicating him to give you a hug in which he holds you with love. The both of you admire the new home that you'll share with him for the rest of your and his life.
It's such a shame he had to leave next morning for a mission Sam needed help with. He so badly wanted to take you with him but seeing you so excited and happy about decorating the whole place made him change his mind. After all, you were the one that decided not to go on the first place. Too tired of kicking ass. Your words not his.
"Are you sure you don't want to go?" He asks.
"Yup but don't worry, I'll be fine." You pat his chest trying to give him so comfort. "And I'll be here, waiting at home for you." You look up, trying to catch a glimpse of his features. "You can always find me here."
“I love you so much love bug.”

Right Where You Left Me: A Klaus Mikaelson Imagine
Request from @s-r-amikaelson: hi, lovely, i saw your "Evermore" list, so could please do a Klaus x Reader with the song "right where you left me" from Taylor? Kisses, sweetie
Hope this is okay for you lovely, and enjoy x
Want to hear the song? Find a link to it just below:
Right Where You Left Me
Tumblr media
Friends break up, friends get married Strangers get born, strangers get buried Trends change, rumors fly through new skies
He wouldn’t be there to see it all happen.
Klaus wouldn’t be by your side, watching the world change like he had for so many centuries. He wouldn’t watch your friends get married, the idea of your own wedding disintegrating before your very eyes.
He wouldn’t be there to watch his daughter grow up, to watch her become the bright young girl that she was destined to be. He wouldn’t be there to listen to you tell her stories all about her father, to watch you cry in the shadows when she was fast asleep, missing him deeply.
He wouldn’t be there to watch humans crumble into ash, as they always did, buried in the New Orleans graveyard where their loved ones came to see them. He wouldn’t be there to watch any of it.
He wouldn’t be there to watch the seasons change, the leaves falling, holding your hand as you walked through the woods, talking about everything and nothing.
That’s what ran through your head when he looked at you for the final time, sorrow in his eyes, when he whispered that single word that only you could hear.
“Run.”
And you did, his screams as Marcel plunged that dagger into him echoing in your ears for years to come.
But I'm right where you left me Matches burn after the other Pages turn and stick to each other
One year.
One year without him. Hope was three now, walking and calling you her auntie. She had picked up a particular affinity for colouring in, not quite staying in the lines, but that didn’t matter. She had adopted her father’s artistic ability, it seemed.
You looked over at her latest picture, telling Hayley you would tidy up, letting the hybrid get an early night. Hope was already in bed, fast asleep.
You hadn’t slept in a year. Not when you knew that Klaus was in unimaginable pain. Maybe it would have been better if you had the support of his family around, but they were just as incapacitated. You picked up Hope’s picture and made your way to the attic.
It was dark, and you struck a match to light the candle on the wall, the only source of light in that dingy old place. Four coffins came into your view and you strode over to the nearest one. Elijah.
You picked up the book you had left there from the night before and sat. The pages stuck together, but that was its age. “You’re missing out on this one, Elijah. Klaus always told you it was a good read.”
And you started to read, Hope’s picture on your lap as you were reminded of her father, voice catching as you tried not to cry.
Wages earned and lessons learned But I, I'm right where you left me
Two years.
Two years without him. Hope had just turned four, her artistic ability improving as she had gotten better at staying in the lines. The question she asked you still echoed in your ears, your heart hurting as you answered it with a smile. “Do you think Daddy will like this when he comes home, Auntie Y/N?”
When he comes home. Her innocent hopefulness kept you sane most days.
You had gotten a job now, a waitress in a restaurant downtown where no-one knew your name or who your family was. It was something to get you out of the house, to keep your mind off the thought of Klaus going through hell. At first, it had been great, but then your boss had put you on night shifts, and that was when the undesirables came out to play.
You hung your coat up before making your way up to the attic, the ghost of that man’s hands still making you cringe. It wasn’t the first time someone had shown more than an interest in you, but you had always had someone to help you escape.
You walked over to her coffin and sat. You put your hand on the lid, and sighed. “Hey, Bex. Could have used you today.” Rebekah was always the one to get you out of those sorts of situations, usually with a threatening comment. “Klaus would have lost his mind.”
Klaus, always the jealous type, would have run to avenge you. You had always moaned about it, but this time, you realised you missed it.
Missed him.
Help, I'm still at the restaurant Still sitting in a corner I haunt Cross-legged in the dim light
Three years.
Three years without him. Hope was five now, and had moved from colouring in to painting. You had bought her a set of block paints for her birthday and were more than happy to watch her paint flowers with five red petals and a yellow centre, green stalks leading down to two leaves at the bottom. More often than not, she ended up with more of it on her hands than on the paper, and she liked to make you laugh by painting your cheeks with it.
To make you smile for when Daddy comes home, she would say, your heart breaking.
You had quit your job after one too many handsy customers. You were just happy to be the woman in the corner of the restaurant, staring at a whiskey, passers-by telling you to cheer up because it might never happen.
You stumbled home after such an occurrence, alcohol slurring your movements. They were right, you needed some fun, but the only person you could think of having such fun with was lying in a coffin. Up in the attic again, you made your way over to where Kol Mikaelson rested, perhaps in more danger than any of his siblings.
“Don’t you die on me, you git.” You patted the lid of the coffin, the familiar nickname rolling off your tongue. “I need someone to get into trouble with.” You chuckled, remembering. “Someone else for Klaus to shout at.”
Klaus, whose shouts had been turned into agonising screams.
They say, "What a sad sight" I, I swear you could hear a hair pin drop Right when I felt the moment stop
Four years.
Four years without him. Hope was a lively six-year-old now, and her artistic skills had improved greatly. Actual pictures were created now, an ability to rival anyone of her age, maybe even her father one day. But you still held onto that first coloured-in picture, keeping it safe to show to Klaus when he came home.
When. You tried to hold onto Hope’s optimism, but it had been four years now and you were finding it difficult. You still held onto your spot in the corner of the restaurant, watching customers look at you with pity in their eyes. The worst was the recently engaged couple, the woman’s hair pinned up to make her look like a film star.
Once, you had got ready for parties and made an effort to look like that. But, you’d always had help from a friend, a sister really. Of course, that witch was now sleeping with her siblings.
You sat by Freya’s coffin, cross-legged, and laid your head on the lid. “You would have loved her dress, Freya. She walked in and it was like everything just stopped. You remember when people used to look at us like that?” You smiled, remembering your entrances to such parties. “But all I ever cared about was Klaus.”
He would take your arm and lead you to the dance floor, laughing as you tried not to step on his toes.
You had never wanted to dance more.
Glass shattered on the white cloth Everybody moved on, I, I stayed there Dust collected on my pinned-up hair
Five years.
Five years without him. Hope was now seven, a fact that didn’t seem possible. You looked at her in the garden, her little easel set up as she painted, the sun shining down on her. You took a sip of your water, having moved away from alcohol at Hayley’s request. When Klaus came home, he wouldn’t want the love of his life to be a drunken mess, and Hope certainly didn’t want that of her auntie.
When. It seemed like such a useless word. The world was changing before your eyes, and you were still here, waiting for something that would probably never happen. Hayley told you to keep the faith, but it was getting harder and harder with each day that passed. Speaking of, the hybrid walked over and took a seat next to you.
“Y/N?”
“Yes?” You continued to sip at your drink, looking at Hope.
“Look at me.” You turned to face Hayley, a smile playing on her lips. Her next words made you drop the glass you were holding, fragments scattering over the white tablecloth. But neither of you cared as the dust that had gathered on you as a result of waiting blew away.
“Y/N, it’s time.”
Time to get your family back. Time to get him back. Time for Klaus to come home.
They expected me to find somewhere Some perspective, but I sat and stared
Five years and two days.
Five years and two days without him. Hope was excited to see her father, as were you. You had volunteered to stay and look after her while Hayley went to save the day. She had looked surprised when you suggested such a thing, but understood when you told her that you weren’t quite sure if you could face Klaus in that state, his screams from five years ago still waking you up in the night.
You sat on the sofa, staring into space, waiting and wondering. A small figure curling up next to you snapped you out of your thoughts. Hope. She should have been in bed, and you told her as much. She shook her head, and you knew she couldn’t sleep. Holding her hand tight, you led her back to her room. And that was when she asked.
“Tell me something about Dad.”
You smiled, knowing the perfect place to start. The story of how you met him, of how you had fallen in love with him, about how he was kind and gentle, fierce and protective when he needed to be. It wasn’t long before Hope had fallen asleep and you moved away as so not to wake her.
Then the headlights glared through the window.
Then, as Klaus had told you five years and two days ago, you ran.
Only this time, it wasn’t away from him.
Right where you left me You left me no, you left me no You left me no choice but to stay here forever
Five years, two days and three minutes.
Five years, two days and three minutes without him. Hope was fast asleep, but you didn’t care if you woke her when you opened the front door with such force, it hit the wall. You didn’t care when you saw them. Elijah, your reading partner. Rebekah, your wing-woman. Kol, your partner in crime. Freya, your dearest friend.
And then-
Klaus. He hadn’t noticed you yet, talking to his siblings. But when he turned, the smile in his lips transforming into a look of shock, everything stopped. You felt your heart heal itself when he walked towards you, disbelief in every step. “Hello.”
“Hi, Klaus.”
“You stayed?” You smiled, knowing that Klaus had always believed he didn’t deserve you, probably thought you would take his absence as an opportunity to move on.
“You kind of didn’t give me a choice.” You shrugged nonchalantly, earning a confused look from him. “I love you, you idiot.”
And then that shock turned back into a smile, a grin that stretched for miles. “And I you, Y/N.”
Five years, two days and three minutes.
You would never go that long without Klaus Mikaelson by your side again. You would make sure of that.

Laughter filled the air as Hope and Ava played in Hope’s room. The sound could easily be heard anywhere throughout the compound. The two cousins playing while using up the last burst of energy they had in their systems before bed. For the first time in centuries, there was a peace that surrounded the Mikaelsons that allowed the girls to be carefree.
There was enough peace that the Mikaelson siblings didn’t have to worry about looking over their shoulders for any enemies that may be lurking in the shadows. With the two young girls, the Mikalesons believed that even more danger would be on their doorstep. But that hadn’t been the case. They were safe. They wouldn’t be hurt by the Mikaelsons’ past and that was all thanks to Emma. Without her, there wouldn’t have been the peace they were living in.
Klaus leaned against the door frame as he watched Hope run after Ava with a pillow. Ava’s laughter had been followed with a shriek as the pillow in Hope’s hand had come into contact with her. Ava swung the one she had in her hand, hoping to get Hope away for only a moment before she attacked back.
The sight itself had brought a smile to Klaus’ lips as he watched them. The bond between the two cousins had reminded him greatly of Emma and Hayley. The two girls are inseparable just as their mothers were after their own reunion. Hayley had believed she didn’t have any family left. And when she found her fraternal twin after coming to New Orleans, there was no breaking them apart.
Emma had fit easily into the family. It didn’t matter how complicated things may have become, Emma was there for her found family. She would never leave her sister in a fight and she’d make damn sure that her own daughter and niece were safe. And when it came to making a sacrifice for the girls’ safety. Emma was ready and willing to pay the price.
Just promise me one thing. Emma’s voice played in Klaus’ head as he watched the girls. That if anything ever happens to me, you’ll take care of her.
Klaus could remember telling her that he should never have to make that promise. That Emma would always be around to watch as her own daughter grew. Emma had made him promise anyways. She had even gotten Hayley to promise as well. Emma needed to be sure that her daughter was taken care of.
“Alright girls,” Hayley’s voice cut through Klaus’s memories, pulling him back to the present. “Time for bed.” Hope and Ava whined in unison the moment the words left Hayley’s lips.
“Five more minutes, Aunt Hayley?” Ava asked as she watched her Aunt look over at Klaus for a moment.
“Hayley is right.”  Klaus said agreeing with her. “You both have big days tomorrow. It’d be a shame if the both of you were exhausted before the fun even began.”
For weeks the girls had been asking about taking a trip to the state fair when it came. While Klaus and even Hayley were skeptical about taking the girls there, they had been assured several times that things would be okay. That things wouldn’t go wrong just because the girls wanted to have some fun.
It was Freya that had convinced her younger brother that they should go. That they should have fun without worrying about anything. To let the girls live as normal of a life as they could from time to time. Ava may have only been a year older than Hope, but the girls were needing interactions with the outside world. Away from the teachings of spells, or self defense classes.
Klaus’s words had made the girls toss the pillows back onto Hope’s bed before turning to each other and saying goodnight. Ava ran past Klaus and Hayley as she went into the room across the hall. It caused Klaus to chuckle as he pushed himself off the doorframe.
“I got Ava.” He said as he turned and walked towards the door.
A small smile pulled at Hayley’s lips as he watched Klaus do so. For as many times Hayley had warned Emma about Klaus, they found a way to be together. After the fights, after the accusations, there was something that Emma had seen in Klaus. The same thing Klaus had seen within her. They were willing to do whatever it took to keep their family safe.  To do whatever it took to keep each other safe.
Klaus had stepped up as the father figure to Ava after Emma sacrificed herself. While Hope was still his daughter and he’d do anything for her, Ava was in a sense, now his as well. For the past year, he worried for her. Stayed up with her when the nightmares would scare her. When she’d break down crying simply because she had missed her mom. Klaus was there for her. He may have not been her biological father, but with how much he had grown to care for and love Emma and Ava, Ava had become like a daughter to him.
Klaus watched as Ava climbed into bed, the moment he walked into the room. It wasn’t long before a smile tugged at his lips as she burrowed into her bed. To see so much of Emma within the young girl had caused a tinge of pain within his chest. Ava smiled at Klaus as she pulled the blanket over herself and nodded her head, signaling she was ready for her favorite story.
It was during those nights that Ava had woken up from nightmares that Klaus would tell her the tale of her Mother. It was in a way that showed how much he had loved and adored her while proving she was the hero that saved them all. It had become Ava’s favorite story. One that needed to be told each night in order to keep the nightmares at bay.
He walked over towards the bed and sat down at the edge. His hand coming to rest on her feet, making her giggle before he moved them. “You have to promise right after, you’ll go to bed.”
“I promise.” Ava brought her small hand up and made an x over her heart. “Cross my heart.”
Klaus chuckled as he shook his head slightly. “In a kingdom in a far away land, there lived a Queen. One that was loved by not only her subjects, but the family she had created. The bond between them ensured they were kept safe from any enemy that may have threatened them. The Queen was not immortal. For even the genes she carried within her blood may have made her stronger, but even the strongest warriors have their weaknesses.”
He watched as Ava’s lips pulled into a smile. “For this Queen’s weakness was her beautiful daughter. The Queen would slay those who dared entered their kingdom in hopes of taking or harming the Princess. She’d return from battle with the blood of her enemies on her body, showing that she would do anything in her power to save her child.
“Even her family would face the invaders to help the Queen. So long as the Queen was there, the family would be invincible.” Klaus had lost count of the many times Emma had helped save them. The countless times she had been there to help protect them or to take down an enemy without any hesitation as to what his past held. “It wasn’t long before a new threat arose in the Kingdom. A dark creature entered the Kingdom, taking her loved ones one by one, threatening to take their lives.
“One night, while the Princess slept, the Queen went and made a deal with a very powerful witch.” As Klaus said the words he could easily see in his mind how Emma had gotten up in the middle of the night to meet with Freya. Klaus remembered watching as she walked into Freya’s room before a spell kept him from hearing the words they spoke, or even viewing into the room from the balcony. “The deal would ensure the Princess would be safe, along with the rest of her family. But the King that had courted her, tried to stop her from making the deal.”
“You are all in danger!” Emma had yelled as she stood in front of Klaus. “I can’t just sit by and watch as you all are targeted. We almost lost your brother. What other close calls are we going to have to make before you let me help?”
“What about Ava?” He asked, trying to keep himself calm. The way they had been screaming at each other wasn’t getting them anywhere.
Emma shook her head as tears filled her eyes. “This is for her as much as it is for you and your siblings. For my sister. For our girls to be able to live without a darkness looming over them. You have to let me do this. I’ll be able to come back from this.”
“No.” Klaus said as he shook his head before moving to place his hands on the sides of her face. “A spell like this, even I know there is no coming back from it. It will break Ava.”
“You promised to take care of her.” She said as she placed her hands on top of his as they rested against her face. “Just don’t let her forget about me. Talk to her about me, about us. Because I know that is the only thing that will make this easier for her.”
He took in her words before he pulled his hands away from her. Realization hitting him. This just wasn’t her saying she was going to try and do this. This was Emma saying she had already done so. This was her saying her goodbyes. He ran his hand along his face before he turned his head away from her.
“When?” He asked a moment later as he turned to look back at her. It was as he looked into her beautiful brown eyes, that he loved so much, that he found the answer he needed.
“But he had been too late.” Klaus continued. He watched as Ava’s eyes began to close. He knew she would be asleep towards the end of the story. “No matter how much the Queen had loved the King, she knew what needed to be done. The very night the dark creature came to attack, the Queen’s family had begun to fall. Slowly each of them had been hurt by the creature. The Queen knew she’d be the next to be hurt. And once she was, the spell she had the powerful witch cast, allowed her body to absorb the dark creature.”
Ava rolled on to her side, her hands coming up under her head, her eyes closed. “Mommy saved us.”
The words were soft. To any human, they would have barely been able to hear them. But for a hybrid, they had been loud in his ears. A sad smile pulled at his lips as he watched her eyes close. “That she did.” He said before continuing the story. “The Kingdom mourned the loss of their Queen. But there was one thing the King had promised the Princess. She’d always be safe. She’d always be taken care of. And she’d be told of her mothers heroics. The Queen would never be forgotten. It was her wish for stories to be passed on about her just as the stories of legends had.”
Klaus slowly stood from his spot before he watched Ava for a moment. She was sound asleep by the time he had finished. A smile pulled at his lips as he leaned down and kissed the top of her head. “Goodnight little one.”
“You were always so great at telling her stories.”
Klaus froze at the voice. He thought for a moment that there was some kind of trick that someone dared to do on him. Because after a year, he never thought he’d hear that voice again. His memory didn’t even do it justice.
His heart sped up for a brief moment as he slowly turned towards the door. He hoped that his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him. Or anyone else for that matter. But as soon as his eyes landed towards the doorway, his jaw dropped slightly.
She was there. She was standing there in the doorway with a smile on her face as she watched his reaction. Klaus could see the way her eyes slowly filled with tears as he began closing the space between them.  Without a second thought, he walked quickly over to her and pulled her into his arms.
Having her press against him had told him that this wasn’t a dream. That this wasn’t someone attempting to hurt him and the little girl that slept a few feet away. Emma was home and Klaus had every intention of making sure she never left his sight again.

Just a sort of canon-ish Drabble that I got a little carried away with.
Set after the events in TVD excluding the “Hell” storyline in Season 8, the miracle babies, Caroline dating Alaric, Marcel taking the serum, and a few minor changes that are hopefully recognizable.
He could feel the irritation crawl along his skin like a serpent slithering itself up and around a tree. With the irritation, came anger.
Sometimes he enjoyed the challenge that came with others riffling with his plans. He has theories as to why he does but deep down he knows the true reason. His wolf. The thrill and excitement that came with the thought of the hunt. Predators such as wolves are born hunters who thrive on such games.
But, he is not only a wolf. No, he is a strategist- a remarkable one at that. There had been no plan, no despicable machination of his that hasn’t had a fail-safe.
Except for this one.
He had gotten himself into a situation where he finally became comfortable again after nearly ten centuries of running. And when he got comfortable, he began to lose his edge.
After successfully re-stabilizing the Quarter and allowing his brother to take a leading role in the peace treaty between the factions, New Orleans fell quiet. Of course, every so often there’d be a dispute between a couple of the factions that rose a concern within his elder brother, but that was always unavoidable. Werewolves, witches, and vampires alike have fought for centuries, that type of violence and warfare doesn’t automatically stop with a peace treaty. His brother may hope for that positive outcome but Klaus had always been a realist. And, unfortunately as he predicted, the peace was temporary.
“Niklaus, this is not a situation that we should ignore.” His brother’s voice sounded through the phone that he had pressed against his right ear.
No, this isn’t something we should ignore. He thinks, tentatively keeping his lips pressed together to keep himself from speaking of something that perhaps his brother shouldn’t know.
“Should Marcel make a regretful move, this treaty we’ve formed could very well be null and void.”
If Marcel were to make a move, it may start a gruesome war between the vampires and werewolves. If Klaus knew Marcel well enough, his former right-hand man is most likely planning something rather ill-conceived. He hasn’t theorized whether the harsh consequences will weigh the heaviest on either the vampires or werewolves, or even the whole Quarter all together. No matter what they may be, he’s most certain his brother won’t be quite pleased with what he has planned.
Although Klaus once held a tight hold over the vampires, it came to his attention that Marcel continued to be respected amongst both the day and nightwalker community. Thus, why in the time of tension, they clamber to him in search of a leader to choose the decisions that will benefit them. Which is why Klaus has chosen to keep the werewolves as an ally. The werewolves have proven to be loyal to Hayley and his daughter because they both are seen as part of the pack, which unnerves Klaus but gives him the relief that those wolves will protect his daughter. The connection that Hayley holds with those werewolves is bound to be manipulated, might as well be him to do so in a beneficial way. For both the stability of New Orleans and the safety of his daughter.
“Brother, do you understand me?”
His shoes crunch against the small layer of gravel underneath his feet.
“Yes.” Klaus tries his best to keep the irritation out of his voice but his answer still sounds short.
The hybrid immediately ends the call, noting that the conversion was to be continued in person. While pocketing his phone, he takes a few steps further along the rooftop and then steps up onto the ledge, giving him a grand view of the Quarter from a few buildings away.
A rough shuffle and a few voices could be heard from a little farther down the alley below him, but he didn’t much care about the happenings within the alley. From what he could hear, there were two men speaking in hushed tones, their heartbeats slower and more quiet indicating their undead nature. The fast and erratic heartbeat that was a few paces in front of them was a clear indication to Klaus of what the vampires below were planning to do.
His lips turned up slightly. He, himself, was feeling a bit peckish, perhaps he’ll grab a quick bite before he returns home to his disapproving older brother.
The vampires eventually closed the woman in, murmuring to her about where she was going and why she was out at such a time. He found it interesting that she stayed quiet. Ninety-nine percent of the time, the women would say something whether it be a plea to let them go or an angry curse.
Wanting to stay out of the house- more like away from his brother- for as long as he can, he turned his head to look down the alleyway. If this ends to be unentertaining, he’ll most likely grab a drink at Rousseau’s.
There, he could see both the vampires crowd into the blonde woman’s space. She has her back pushed up against the rough brick.
“I don’t think it’s very safe for a lady like yourself to be out here.” The vampire states before his eyes transform and fangs replace his blunt teeth. Usually, this is when the victims begin to scream or mutter that modern saying, oh my, God. But the woman doesn’t seem as scared as a normal human would be.
“You’re making a mistake.” She murmurs and Klaus’ eyes widen a hair, recognizing the voice. But before he can think of anything else, the woman is thrusting a wooden stake into the vampire’s stomach.
The vampire doubles over and the other vampire goes to attack the human but he’s no match for Klaus’ speed. Without a second thought, Klaus appears before the vampire, shoving him back before he could get to the woman. The other vampire has now pulled the stake from his torso and was looking to kill but Klaus turned toward him.
“Enough.”
The vampire pauses but scowls at him, a look of disgust and anger apparent in his eyes. His hand rises and points to the human. “She stabbed me! She’s a tourist! Tourists are fair game-,”
“And you would be in the right if it weren’t for her being under my protection.”
The vampire looks a little surprised at Klaus’ declaration and is about to protest once more but Klaus beats him to it.
“Now, I suggest you scamper off to Marcel before I’m tempted to rid you both of your hands.”
Both vampires share a glance and Klaus continues to stand his ground confidently. Eventually, the vampires figure out that it’s probably best for them to avoid any conflict with an Original, the Original Hybrid no less. Thus, they both give the human one last threatening look before flashing away into the night.
With the vampires disappearance, Klaus had began to turn around and quip something sarcastic but his whole expression changes when Caroline’s knees give out. His hands come out at vampiric speed as he catches her by her upper arms and kneels down as he slowly lowers with her.
It’s then that he sees her clearly. Her hair isn’t as perfect as she normally used to keep it, almost like she hasn’t had access to the proper equipment. Her clothes were a little wrinkled and two small dark red dots bled through her white shirt indicating that a bandaged wound was leaking. Concern now flooded through him as his eyes connected with her face. It was as beautiful as ever but there was a deep exhaustion and a line of stress etched into her forehead. Oh how his heart now aches. He thinks that he hasn’t felt as worried for someone as he is with Hope, but yet here he is, holding her just enough so she doesn’t slump over.
He now realizes that she hadn’t just lost most of her strength, but had been keeping herself from showing any weakness towards those vampires. If he wasn’t so concerned with her health, he’d be praising her for her stubborn strength.
“Caroline, look at me, love.” He aides her by tilting her head up gently by her chin. Her eyes are tired and look so vulnerable.
She looks as if she’s about to say something but Klaus shakes his head. “Conserve your strength. You’re alright, I’ve got you.” If those words were spoken to anyone else, they’d have a right mind to be worried but she seemed to feel relieved. He takes that as permission to pick her up, holding her from underneath her legs and shoulders.
His thoughts of what his brother will think of him are completely wiped away when he races to his home. It’s quiet but he knows his brother is lurking somewhere. He’s not quite concerned about Freya, Rebekah, and Hayley’s absences. Ever since the incident between the werewolves and vampires, Hayley has taken it upon herself to help with the remaining pack. Freya is most likely working on another miracle to save this city’s peace and it’s no surprise that Rebekah is with Marcel.
Klaus contemplates taking Caroline to a guest bedroom but the closest one to his is farther than he’d like so he figures that taking her to his bedroom won’t be the worst idea. At least he’d be able to keep a close eye on her for the time being.
He sets her down gently to the dark grey covers and takes a sharp turn into the bathroom. Klaus comes back out a few moments later with a wet washcloth and a couple different sizes of bandages. Caroline shifts a little and grazes her hand against the side of her torso where the wound was which seems to instantly sober her up. She lets out a small gasp and grimaces in pain. Her hand hovers over it as if it’d take the pain away. Klaus walks back over to her and sits on the edge of the bed, a few inches separating himself from her.
Extending his hand, his eyes travel up to her face seeking silently for any sign of rejection before pulling the edge of her shirt up to reveal a blood-soaked bandage. His hands slowly peel away the bandage and Klaus didn’t know what to expect but he hadn’t expect something quite as brutal as this. No, this was not a wound from an accident, this was intentional and by someone who was trying to harm Caroline. In fact, he was quite knowledgeable about this particular wound, or had been when he was human. By the sharp angles of the shape of the wound, he could tell it had been an arrow tip that pierced her skin. When he was human, Kol had been recklessly playing with his father’s bow and accidentally shot Finn in the shoulder. He had kept that arrow shaped scar for as long as he could remember. But just because Finn had survived, it only made Klaus more concerned.
By the tear of the wound, it seems to have been reopened due to stress. Although, he imagines that it’s good news that it’s not infected. Klaus is as gentle as he possibly can be when he pays the wet washcloth along her wound. She bites her lip hard and grasps his arm in a painful grip but he allows her to do so, hoping that if a fraction of his pain can dull hers, then so be it.
After a few moments, she slowly takes her hand away and he begins to clean around the wound.
“Klaus-,”
“Don’t.” He begins, “not now.”
His words come out a tad harsher than intended but she knows he’s just concerned and doesn’t know how to healthily deal with it like a normal human.
“I need you to listen just for once.”
“Caroline, let yourself rest before we speak of anything.”
She appreciated the notion that he valued her safety and well-being more than an explanation of why she showed up in his city as a human. But this couldn’t wait, for her safety and his own.
To truly get his attention, she places her hand on top of the one that was still cleaning the blood off her skin. It pauses its movements and he looks up to her.
“I- I didn’t want to do this. I didn’t want to use you for your contacts but I didn’t have anywhere else to go.” She hesitates to continue because after she asks, his involvement becomes concrete. Because she knows that he’ll help her. “I need a witch, someone powerful. Someone who can do a cloaking spell that can’t be broken by another witch.”
His face doesn’t express as much emotion as she thought it would but she doesn’t think that it’s a bad thing. He obviously seems to be contemplating something as his eyes bore into hers.
Setting aside the washcloth, he straightens out and takes a sleek black phone out of his jacket pocket. Without hesitation, he clicks a few times on the screen and places the phone against his ear.
“Freya, I need you at the Compound immediately.” With that, he puts his phone away and reaches for a bandage. Taking the plastic off, he softly places it over her wound, pressing along the outside, securing it to her skin without causing her pain.
His eyes refocus onto hers and she spots the anger that has now manifested within those blue orbs. “Who did this?” He asks and Caroline Knew she should have known better than to think the wound wouldn’t show any foul play.
“Silas.” Klaus’ lips part in confusion. For all he knows, Silas had been put in a safe and thrown down the quarry. God, things got complicated since he’d left. Much more complicated than she would have liked.
“For a while he pretended to be Stefan. We didn’t know because we thought he could only mess with a couple people’s perspectives but turns out he’s a doppelgänger.” She mentally cringes when remembering how Silas continuously terrorized her and her friends. She also remembers how Silas had made everyone think he was dead when Stefan killed him but had used it as an out to chalk up another plan that revolved solely around revenge. Against her.
Caroline begins to pull herself up into a sitting position so she’s resting against the headboard and is thankful when Klaus helps her. “Before you came back, we thought Stefan killed Silas but he’d used some last resort spell and it gave him the perfect out to recollect himself.”
“I guess he waited for a few years for things to settle down and for us to be off our guard.Damon was as happy as he could be considering Elena, Bonnie was back, and Stefan and I were getting back on good terms. Silas approached me on the last day of my Senior year.” Klaus notices as she bites her lip and looks down at her hands that have begun to twiddle in slight nervousness. “Silas made me think we were making some kind of deal. I leave my friends behind and never go back to Mystic Falls, or he kills me and everyone I care about. I chose to leave.”
Swallowing, her eyes darted from her hands to Klaus’ face to gauge what he might have been thinking but he wasn’t showing any sign other than that he was just listening to her, allowing her to pour whatever worries she had onto him.
“I don’t know if he thought that I would just settle down in some other place to get the opportunity to know my whereabouts while he tried to kill my friends but he called negotiations off when I skipped the third town I went to. So, he went after me.” When the single tear fell from her eye, she was a little surprised at how vulnerable she was allowing herself to be. “I told everyone that I was taking off for a little bit to go travel since I had finished college. I didn’t want them to try to find me and end up as one of Silas’ next victims.”
She pauses and wipes the stray tear away, trying to recollect herself. She must look like hell, crying would only make it worse. Caroline needed to man-up. There was no doubt that what Klaus had gone through with his father, or step-father, was worse.
Klaus leans forward and takes her hand into his, letting him drop a feather-light kiss along her knuckles. “You are safe. If I ever promise you anything, I will certainly promise you that.”
Caroline can’t help the small smile that forms on her face, knowing that he is being truly genuine. His lips turn up as well.
A small knock on the door interrupts them and Klaus rises from the bed. A taller dirty blonde woman stands in the doorway, analyzing both of them. Klaus crosses the room and pulls the woman further into the hallway, speaking to her in a hushed tone.
After a moment of back and forth conversation, they both advance into the room. Klaus pauses for a minute, watching as the woman approaches the side of the bed. She offers Caroline a reassuring smile that tells her she’s most likely a friend of Klaus’ or at least someone in his good graces.
“Caroline, right? I’m the older and wiser Mikealson sibling, Freya.” Caroline blinks for a moment and looks to Klaus in confusion. Although, she assumes what the woman, Freya, is saying must be somewhat true because all Klaus does is slightly roll his eyes in such a brotherly manner before turning towards the liquor tray.
“Niklaus tells me you need a little bit of a complex cloaking spell.” Caroline nods. Being that Freya must be a Mikealson, it is always safe to walk on eggshells around the ones she’s not very familiar with, no doubt the ones that she never knew about.
Freya turns towards the hybrid who was sipping his drink. “Will you fetch my grimoire and my herb bowl from the study, brother?” Klaus doesn’t seem all too eager to be ordered around but he does as asked and walks out of the room. Freya turns back towards Caroline and motions to the space when Klaus had sat before.
“May I?”
Caroline gives her a short nod and Freya smiles.
“Why are you being so nice to me? I thought all Mikealsons were kinda bordering on the ‘I don’t help anyone but my family’ ideology.” Caroline was going to be more subtle about it but she’s injured and doesn’t feel well, might as well rip off the band-aid.
Funnily enough, Freya laughs. “I’d agree with you but I’m quite aware of who you are.”
Now, that was surprising. Did Klaus say anything about her to his siblings? It didn’t seem like something he’d do. Her mouth opened to say something but she couldn’t find her words. It seems like Freya had an idea of what she was thinking and thought to correct her.
“I saw you when I entered my brother’s mind. If it weren’t under life and death circumstances I wouldn’t have done so. Trust me, I’ve already heard a mouthful from Niklaus.”
That made Caroline even a bit more nervous. Did this woman know everything about her and Klaus then? Had she watched some of their interactions? “How much do you know?” She asks.
“Just enough to know how important you are to my brother.”
That’s not cryptic at all. Caroline isn’t sure if that means Freya knows a little too much than she should or not but she imagines that she can’t push the woman any further than she’s willing so she shuts her mouth. And she also really doubts that Klaus is out of earshot, he can probably hear almost anything from the other side of the house so it’s best not to speak out of turn. Or maybe just not too much about him.
Speak of the devil, because he then walks through the door not even a few moments afterwards, carrying a grimoire and a small bowl with a few items in it that looked close to medical supplies.
He comes up behind his sister and sets her grimoire down on the bed and intentionally hands her the bowl, making her notice the extra supplies within. A sterile needle with surgical string and a couple other medical supplies. As he hands the bowl over to her, he murmurs, “perhaps you should also take a look at her wound, sister.”
By the look in his eye, she could tell he was a bit more concerned about the girl’s physical wound than the cloaking spell being down. Then again, both siblings knew that with all of the magic surrounding the Compound, it would take a highly skilled witch at least a couple hours to work through a location spell for anyone who was there.
Freya nods and takes the bowl from him. Klaus steps back and takes a seat directly across the room from the bed in one of the leather chairs, still allowing Caroline to see him.
The witch silently asks for permission to have a closer look at Caroline’s wound before pulling the new bandage away. Caroline watches Freya’s eyebrows furrow as she inspects the wound. Freya’s eyes look back up to her.
“Have you had this looked at before?”
Caroline shakes her head lightly. “But I tried to keep it closed.” Her lips turn up into a ghost of a smile. “You only learn so much in high school and college level health classes.” Freya understands the lightheartedness within the statement and offers her a smile.
“Well, it seems like you at least kept it clean.” Freya begins. “But I’ll need to stitch it up a little and possibly do a proper cleaning just in case. It’ll probably be easy to put you to sleep for that.”
Caroline’s eyebrows furrow at the lack of a surgical syringe. “Like a witchy anesthesia?”
Freya seems to enjoy her lack of magical knowledge and find amusement in it. “Something along those lines.”
“You’ve done it before, right?”
The witch lets out a small laugh. “Yes, but I can certainly do a demonstration.” Her head turns over her shoulder towards her younger brother but Klaus seems unimpressed.
It was a little reassuring seeing him naturally take up his brotherly role. She hadn’t ever really seen that side of him and never saw him actually interact with his siblings before. It was nice to know that even the Original Hybrid could act like a typical brother once in a great while.
“I promise it’s safe and when you wake, your wound will be patched right up.” Freya reassures and Caroline nods. She knows that Klaus will go just about as far as he possibly can to keep her safe which tells her that Freya is trustworthy. So, she doesn’t think about it too long before she murmurs, “okay.”
———————————————-
Upon breaking the fog of sleep, she doesn’t feel as weak as she had before Freya had put her to sleep which was a good sign. She begins to lift her head off the pillow and suddenly feels a warm hand help her sit up.
Looking over, she sees Klaus hovering beside her. “Easy, love. No need to tear your new sutures.”
His words remind her and she looks down, pulling her shirt up and the bandage aside to see her wound stitched up neatly with a strange light paste spread on top.
“My sister assured me that her little remedy,” he nods towards the paste on her wound, “should have healed you just enough to allow you to shower, if you wish to do so.”
The thought of a steaming hot shower is so appealing to her right now. “God, yes.” She sighs. It’s been so long since she’d been in any type of shower that wasn’t in a hotel or had some sort of modern day technology.
It seems Klaus enjoys her enthusiasm and takes it as a good sign for her health. “Would you like me to fetch my sister to help you?”
Caroline shakes her head. “No, it’s okay. I’m okay.” She silently thinks that should anything happen, he’ll most likely be listening in on her. It was a little creepy to think about but also made her feel a tad safer knowing that he’d always make sure she was safe.
He respects her choice and helps her stand. Waiting a moment to make sure she gets her bearings, he keeps a hand on the small of her back and leads her towards the entrance of the bathroom. She silently thanks him before he closes the door to a crack after her.
Looking around the bathroom, she’s not surprised about how lavish it is and how neat it’s kept. She never really took Klaus as the person who kept his personal space in disarray. As clean as it was, it still held the feeling of being used daily. One of the medicine cabinets was left cracked open a little, a small tin and classic shaving knife was left on top of a white cloth, and a bottle of cologne sat on the counter. If Caroline had possibly thought of a bathroom Klaus would ever call his, this is probably as close to it as she’d get.
Caroline decides that if she takes too long, Klaus may think something is wrong so she strips quickly and turns the water on. She’s pleased when it takes a whole couple seconds for the water to warm. Stepping into the shower, she sighs at how good it feels. The water runs down her, rinsing away all of the dirt and grime from the past couple days.
After getting her hair wet, she reads the minimalist labels on the three bottles that sat on the shower shelf. Thank God they weren’t the typical soaps that guys used nowadays. She shivers at the thought of two-in-one products. These were just simply packaged products that were obviously a little more on the manlier side of things but it’ll have to do.
Rubbing the shampoo and conditioner in her curls, she almost felt a weight lift off of her. Once she finished up basking in the warmth of the shower, she turned the dial off and stepped out. Grabbing the white towel, she wraps it around herself and tries to dry up as much as she can.
Upon walking back over to the bathroom counter she notices that she can’t exactly wear her old clothes but she does choose to wear her bra and underwear again. Hopefully she can ask Klaus to rile her up something for her to wear.
When she exits the bathroom, she immediately notices that the French doors that had led to the balcony outside were now closed with the drapes shut and the sliding door to the bedroom was almost shut all the way. She could hear a little movement in the next room over and assumed it was Klaus.
Stepping further into the bedroom, she sees that she doesn’t even need to ask Klaus for clothes because there’s a pair of yoga pants and t-shirt folded neatly on the bed. It was also accompanied with a hairbrush. Her heart warms at the thoughtfulness but then again, Klaus had always put thought behind a lot of things that involved her.
She’s quick to take the precious privacy that he allowed her and got dressed.
He finally emerged when she was finishing up brushing her hair. He held a plate of food and a glass of water. Caroline places the hairbrush down and into the drawer of the nightstand before scooting herself further back on the bed to give him enough space. Klaus sits down on the edge of the bed and places the glass of water on the nightstand, then handing Caroline the plate. At the sight of the scrambled eggs, bacon, and assortment of fruit on the plate, she was almost worried her stomach would growl. She doesn’t even remember when she last had a proper meal.
“Thank you.” She murmurs when he hands her a clean fork.
His smile is genuine and tells her that he doesn’t find helping her to be a chore. When he watches her carefully as she began to eat, she knew that if he’d done so a few years back she’d find it extremely creepy, but now she’s come to find out that it’s his way of communicating his reassurance. He’s silently telling her that he’s here, he’s going to protect her.
“I’ll leave you to eat. Perhaps get a few more hours of sleep, it’s only a quarter after six.” He states as he rises from the bed. His eyes drift for a moment down to her torso where her wound is covered by her shirt. Something in his eyes changes and he leans down close to her head. She pauses as his lips softly connect with her forehead. He pulls back a little and looks deep into her eyes.
“So long as I have a say in the matter, Silas will never get close enough to touch you again.” He then rises to his full length and exits the room.
——————————————
After eating and getting a couple more hours of sleep she’d ventured out of Klaus bedroom to find him again. When she did he was insistent about getting her at least a week’s worth of clothing for herself. She didn’t make a second objection, knowing that either way Klaus will get her clothing, it was just a matter of if she’d pick it out or have some compelled vampire do it. Thus he’d taken her to a few local shops. In typical guy fashion, Klaus hadn’t been too animated about watching her pick clothing out. In most of the stores, they’d parted ways- her towards anything that caught her eye and him to any empty seat he could find.
Caroline tried to be as time efficient as possible knowing that even a man who has waited a thousand years to break his curse, he still had his limits of patience. As much as she thought he dreaded chaperoning her, because he refused to have a possibility of another vampire thinking they could harm her, he still offered her considerate smiles. There were a few instances where she could feel the heat of his gaze as she walked out of the dressing room. She didn’t know what to make of it and brushed it aside.
This is hopefully the first and last time Caroline thinks this, but she is thankful that Klaus has the ability to compel vampires. He had a vampire, she forgot her name, retrieved Caroline’s brand new clothes and took them to the Compound so they could continue to stroll down a few of the streets.
If Caroline hadn’t spent the last couple years skipping from city to city, she thinks she may have been a little more amazed at the New Orleans architecture. But still, it was truly stunning. She liked that Klaus didn’t directly guide her but just allowed her to wander. Soon, they’d found themselves in a bar. The bartender that approached them seemed very familiar with Klaus and when he’d introduced her to Camille, the woman was welcoming.
It didn’t escape her notice how Camille had laid eyes on Klaus for a few seconds too long before walking off to let her and Klaus enjoy their drinks.
Caroline smiles a little at the situation. “You know, she likes you.”
His lips turn up and he sips his whiskey.
“You may not be aware of this, Caroline, but you are on the exceedingly short list of women who have rejected me.” His head turns towards her with a smug smirk. “You should feel lucky, most of those women are dead.”
Caroline rolls her eyes lightheartedly. “So lucky.” She breathes and looks away from him. His chuckle is rich and deep, making her crack a small smile.
“Quite a number of women find me charming, you surely had at one time.”
The statement brings out an instinct in her to say something snarky or quip something a little harsh but she chooses not to. Instead, her teeth catch her bottom lip as she lowers her gaze to the vodka soda. She doesn’t exactly know what to do. All she’s ever done with him was constantly impolitely reject him with statements about who he killed or what bad things he’s done.
Her eyes go up to see the bartender come out from the kitchen in the back. The girl gives them a small glance and Caroline offers her a friendly smile. Camille seems a little surprised by Caroline’s friendliness, almost as if she was expected to be ignored or brushed off. Caroline has no doubt that the crowd that Klaus would spend time with would be most certainly supernatural, thus their lack of interest in simple human servers. Although, Klaus seemed a little keen of her. Truthfully, she didn’t know what to think about it. If it was a few years ago, she would have rather drowned before admitting that she was a tad jealous when it came to Klaus, but she was older and more mature. So, yeah. Maybe she felt a little jealous that the girl’s feelings towards Klaus could be mutual. But she also wasn’t going to be spiteful of it.
Stirring the small straw that floated in her untouched drink, she murmurs, “If you want to go talk to her, there’s nothing stopping you.” Her voice is as neutral as she can make it.
Even now without her vampire senses, she could still feel his fiery gaze in the side of her head. He lets out a low chuckle.
“Camille is a close friend of my family. She’s sacrificed quite a bit to aid my family’s survival and I’ve repaid her loyalty with protection.” He begins. “Our relationship may have developed into somewhat of a complicated friendship since she’s known me, but that is simply it.”
Caroline turns her head towards him and his eyes are as clear blue as ever. “But by no means do I wish to be in anyone else’s company other than yours.”
There’s a brief moment between them where both of their solid barriers were dissolved and their eyes just simply met. They said nothing but their eyes communicated plenty. But, that moment was only brief.
The bell over the door to the bar chimes when it opens, the noise from the street could be heard for a moment before the door closes again. Both Klaus and Caroline are shaken out of their moment when a voice chimes.
“Now, this is interesting.”
Caroline is a little taken aback even though she should have expected to come across another Original. Hell, she wouldn’t doubt that the whole Mikealson clan was crawling around New Orleans at this point. It seemed to be almost like a hub for them.
Klaus is the first to turn in his seat and greet his sister. “Sister, a bit of a surprise to see you on this side of the river. Has Marcel finally bored you enough?” His tone has dramatically changed from the genuine one before to something more smartass-y.
When Caroline scoots on her stool a little to look more properly at the female Original, she notices how annoyed Rebekah gets because of Klaus’ comment.
“No, I came to visit my niece. Whom, in which, has noticed your lack of presence.” Rebekah then gives Caroline a disapproving glare. “But I think I know why.”
Klaus sighs quietly and Rebekah is about to say something but pauses. Her eyes scan Caroline carefully. After a moment, her eyes widen and she flashes towards Caroline, aggressively yelling, “who the bloody hell gave you the cure!?”
Caroline stumbles out of her stool as fast as she can and takes a few steps back. Rebekah is about to get into her face again but Klaus zips in front of her, blocking her way to Caroline.
“I-,” Caroline doesn’t know what to say or how to even start to calm down the Original. She’s not as strong as she once was. One little neck snap and she’ll be done.
“Rebekah.” Klaus growls in warning, earning a glare from his sister before her gaze goes back to the blonde.
“Why do you get the choice? You, of all people?”
Caroline is beyond grateful that no one else was in the bar because she’s sure that there could have been a bloodbath if there were.
Klaus is about to say something but Rebekah beats him to it.
“How is it that you get to have a normal life?”
Those words seemed to trigger something in Caroline. Something emotional.
“You think I want this? Do you think I chose to have a normal life where I’d meet some regular guy, marry him, have a few kids, and work for the rest of my life?” Rebekah frowns and Klaus turns his head just enough to look at her. “I didn’t. I don’t want that life and I didn’t choose to become human again. So, blame me all you want for being a bitch to you or whatever, but don’t blame me because you didn’t get the human life you’ve always wanted.”
It seems like Caroline’s words have an effect on Rebekah because she shrugs her brother’s hand away from her and takes a step back. Caroline can’t exactly know for sure but she thinks that maybe Rebekah can somewhat relate to her. Rebekah had always wanted to be human but was stuck as a vampire. Now, Caroline wants to be a vampire but is stuck as a human.
When Rebekah takes that step back and Klaus is sure she’s not going to try to attack Caroline again, he fully turns his body towards the blonde human. She can’t gauge exactly what he’s thinking but it could have been a cross between surprise and sympathy.
The younger Original looks almost a little guilty when she casts a glance towards Caroline but instead doesn’t say anything before flashing away. As the light breeze wafts over them from Rebekah’s exit, Klaus takes a step forward towards her.
“Caroline.”
She shakes her head. “I-,” her eyes shut for a moment. “Please don’t make me talk about it.”
She fully expects Klaus to struggle with her request but he quickly proves her wrong and gives her a short nod in understanding.
————————
Caroline’s fingers drum silently against the cold metal of the railing she’s stood behind. The city has now been cascaded in darkness but people still mull about on the street beneath her. The very idea of the liveliness of this city brings a smile to her face. The neon lights of shops and street lamps were now lit up to shine down on the passerbyers below, their drunken ramblings slightly muffled due to her human hearing.
She finds that Klaus was right. There was something about this city that not only attracted the party-seeking humans, but also the darker creatures who lurked in the shadows. She may not be a vampire any longer but that doesn’t mean the connection she holds with the darkness was shaken. There is not just history in this city, it is the home of the supernatural. Caroline bets that if she were still a vampire, she could have spotted a couple dozen supernaturals that had walked by in the past thirty minutes she's been up on Klaus’ balcony.
She only hopes it doesn’t attract a different kind of supernatural.
Out of the corner of her eye, she can sense movement just as a figure joins her. Their hand grasps the railing casually and when they sigh, a white cloud escapes their lips from the continuing dropping temperature of the night. He doesn’t attempt to make a move to slide closer to her and she appreciates the space he’s giving her, along with the time of silence.
As they stood in silence, listening to the noises of the city before them, she could recall how nervous she used to get during long periods of silence. She had always tried to fill them up with mindless chatter or something to that nature. But now? She finds that she sort of enjoys it. His presence may be a little nerve-wracking at times of tension but, as of late, Caroline seems to feel at ease knowing he’s just right there- not totally offering her comfort but the reassurance of his presence.
“You’re cold.” His voice murmurs smoothly through the air. It’s only then that she notices the goosebumps that trek along her arms. The light breeze flows around them once more, reminding Caroline that she doesn’t have as much tolerance to the weather as she once had when she was a vampire.
Her eyes lifted towards him to watch as he slid the casual high-collared blazer off just to then gently place it over her shoulders. Caroline’s arms cross and grasp the sides of the coat, pulling it closer to her body before offering him a smile in thanks. Although his eyes seemed to be light, there was a hint of concern to be seen.
“Caroline, what aren’t you telling me?”
The words surprise her, not because he’s asking them, but because he’s asking them now. She should have felt lucky that he hadn’t asked her earlier or even within the first ten minutes she was in New Orleans.
A lot. She thinks.
When she doesn’t speak, he sighs and shifts closer to her.
“You should be aware that I will do everything in my power to keep you safe, but I can’t very well do it if I don’t know any of the details.” He pauses for a moment before continuing. “I understand that these past few years haven’t been as undemanding as you’ve hoped, but you need to tell me something- anything- so that I can help you.”
Caroline contemplates just shrugging it off and telling him there’s nothing to talk about but that would be a lie. A big lie. She came to him for help, slept in his bed, and ate his food. It would have been foolish of her to think that she could take full advantage of his protection and not have to give him a detailed explanation. But, she doesn’t know exactly how to start and how to proceed. There are specifics that he doesn’t want him to know about, but if she were to leave them out, she’s sure that he is intelligent enough to put a few pieces together, or at least tell that she’s leaving a few key details out. She had two options. Either she tells the truth or she omits, telling him that she doesn’t have the courage to give him an explanation. The last option would be the easier route, but one that would most likely drive a wedge between them, thus possibly compromising their safety.
If she were younger, she would have grappled for a third option. But she was older and more mature now. Even though the prospect of what Klaus may think of her afterwards held a sizable weight over her head, she knew that she couldn’t avoid telling Klaus the truth.
“Silas isn’t just chasing me because I helped in the plan to kill him.” She breathes.
Klaus’ eyes blink in surprise, as if he’s shocked that she’s actually opening up to him. But he allows her to continue.
“When you came back to Mystic Falls, I didn’t tell you the whole truth about what happened with Silas. When Stefan lured Silas outside, I was left alone on the far side of the boarding house. Someone had grabbed me and I acted on instinct because I knew Damon, Elena, and Qetsiyah were in the parlor, so I assumed it was Silas.” Caroline looks away from the Original and out towards the night sky. “It turned out to be Amara.” Her eyes slowly drifted back over to him to gauge his reaction. He stood still, eyes just taking her in and processing the information that she was offering him.
“Silas’ one true love.” Her eyes hold guilt and a sadness within them as she remembers the events that occurred nearly five years ago. “She was innocent and I killed her.”
A stray tear begins to form in her eye and bubbles over, making a thin wet trail down her cheek. Klaus’ hand doesn’t move as fast as it normally does when he gently wipes the tear from her face, making sure not to make any moves that she wouldn’t be able to reject. The heat of his palm against her jaw and the pressure it holds gives her an odd sense of comfort that she wouldn’t have expected.
“I don’t know how he found out after he faked his death, but he-,” she begins to struggle to speak, the emotions beginning to take advantage of her. “He approached me in my dorm one day and I’m not sure if he planned it or not, but Tyler happened to walk in.”
Caroline lets out a small exhale to try to keep her emotions slightly underwraps but she can’t help the couple tears that escape her eyes. Turning her head away, she feels a shade of guilt run through her. “He- he killed Tyler right in front of me.” She also tried to explain how after Silas left her with his ultimatum, she had to find a place to bury Tyler and come up with a story for his absence, but she thinks she would have totally broken down if she spoke another word. It didn’t take much longer than a couple seconds before his arms had brought her closer to him and she didn’t shy away from pushing her head into his shoulder and wrapping her arms around his torso.
The heat radiating off of him almost felt like it began to wrap around her, comforting her in her grief. Klaus kept one arm around her back and another in the hair on the back of her head. His head craned down and he gently pressed his lips to her temple. He doesn’t say anything, but he doesn’t have to. She feels the most safe she has ever felt in the past two years in his arms. The sandalwood cologne fills her lungs when her nose digs deeply into his shirt, surely ruining it with her tears but she's not too worried about that right now.
After a few long moments of being wrapped up in his body, he halts the slow brushing of her hair that she had just noticed he was doing. Klaus’ head pulls away to get a better look at her and she tilts her head up to do the same.
“Come. Let’s get you inside.”
Caroline nods and lets Klaus guide her back into his bedroom. He shuts the French doors behind him and closes the cream drapes, the sounds of the city now greatly muffled by the extra barrier. Caroline walks over to the bed. Once she’s sat down, Klaus is already over by the fireplace and starting the fire. She tries to catch her breath. Although she wasn’t sobbing, she still finds it hard to regain herself. A crackle comes from the fireplace and when Klaus stands from his crouched position, she can see the small flames of the fire begin to lick at the wood inside. In no time, Klaus is right there, taking the coat from her shoulders and silently encouraging her to lay down on the bed. She pulls the soft covers over herself as Klaus’ eyes rove over her.
“Will you stay?” The words escape her lips before she can understand what she had said.
Klaus studies her for a moment but his attention is pulled towards the sliding doors that are cracked open just enough for him to see his brother. His brother’s presence now reminds him of the factions meeting they were supposed to attend tonight in light of the recent events between the witches, werewolves, and vampires, but Caroline is in a sensitive emotional position. Although he finds it surprising for her to feel comforted by him, he doesn’t feel as inadequate for the job as he would with anyone else. He decides then what he will do. New Orleans can wait. If anything, his brother is more than equipped with handling tonight’s meeting without him.
His head turns back towards Caroline. The deep blue of his eyes already indicate his answer to her and she slides to the other side of the bed to give him room. Klaus toes off his boots and just before he lays down, his eyes glance up to see the sliding door closing all the way and his brother’s footsteps retreating away.
When he’s settled onto his back, Caroline quickly tucks into his side. The move isn’t unexpected with her trying to seek a source of comfort. He slowly pulls his arm out from under her and instead wraps it around her body, placing his hand just above her hip as she buries herself into his ribcage.
Klaus lays there for a while, listening to the changes in her heart beat and studying the way it slows when she falls asleep. He only allows himself to shut his eyes when he hears his brother return an hour later, feeling more comfortable being asleep when at least one other Original is awake. He won’t take any chances with Caroline. He won’t risk losing her.
-------------------------------------------------
When Caroline wakes up that next morning, she isn’t shocked that she’s alone and the place where he had once been was vacant of his body heat. She never assumed Klaus to be the type of man to sleep in by any means being as paranoid as he usually was but it had seemed like he’d been gone for quite a while. As much as she wants to think that maybe he had some weird bout of inspiration to paint or do whatever artistic thing he prided himself with, she has the better judgement to know it was business related.
From what she could tell, he and his brother were the main one’s calling the shots in the French Quarter. Not unexpected, considering Klaus is, well, Klaus. But he has subtly mentioned from time to time whilst they were out yesterday that there was some tension between a few of the supernatural factions. Caroline imagines that it's more of a regular occurrence and something that comes with ‘ruling’ (Klaus’ words, not her’s) over the supernatural community within New Orleans. Thus, it doesn’t take a genius to understand Klaus must have a decent amount of business to conduct most of the time. She wouldn’t be all too surprised if he was out handing threats out like flyers first thing in the morning.
The mere idea that Klaus has probably been awake for at least a couple hours now prompted her to get motivated for the day. Although she didn’t directly have any plans other than possibly not getting her throat ripped out by Rebekah, she still needed to eat.
It didn’t take her long to get dressed and make her way out of Klaus’ bedroom. But when she made it to the hallway outside of Klaus’ study, she was a little torn on what she should do next. Klaus hadn’t exactly shown her around the Compound so she really only knows the way in and out of the Compound from his living quarters.
There were a few doors on each side of the hallway. She chose the route she was more familiar with and decided to start there. Fearing that she might be interfering in his family’s privacy, she only ventured into the rooms that were already open. She first found a parlor room with dark red couches and a small wet bar, next she found a very extensive library where she read a few of the titles of the books. Some were familiar and some were totally unknown to her, but she imagined that she wouldn’t know any books that were written in other languages like the French one she decided to flip open. After finding a few first editions, she thought it best to move on and keep her human, clumsy hands away from books that could be worth more than a couple thousand dollars. When exiting the library and finding the courtyard, she climbed down the stairs and got lucky when she found the kitchen.
Walking over to the fridge, she crosses her fingers that she doesn’t just see blood bags. Upon opening the fridge, she’s satisfied to find a tray of eggs, milk carton, a drawer dedicated to fruits and vegetables, a couple bottles of water, some condiments in the door slots, and a couple other assorted food items that were relatively healthy. She would do just about anything right now to satisfy her sweet tooth that she woke up with but she’s also grateful that the Mikealson’s even have food in general, so she’ll take what she can get. So, Caroline takes the grape jelly out of the door slot and then goes to search for bread. Surely if they had food in the fridge, they had to have some non-refrigerated items too, right?
Looking through a couple of the cabinets, she mentally notes which cabinet held the plates, glassware, coffee grounds, and such. She finally finds the bread and limits herself to two slices. She may be hungry but she’s also human.
Grabbing a plate and spotting the toaster conveniently placed on the counter next to the coffee machine, she places the slices of bread inside.
In that moment, she thinks of the simple weekday mornings just before school. Those so easy and simple times where she had convinced herself could be the worst for her. How wrong she was. Now, she misses those mornings where all she had to worry about was boys and if she was going to pass that week’s pop quiz. In fact, she can even say she misses the times where the worst that could happen was an unexpected visit from a particularly moody Original hybrid in which had a 50/50 percent chance of ending with a pair of toxic hybrid teeth in someone’s throat.
Now, Caroline realizes that Klaus must have either grown to enjoy watching her and her friend’s failed attempts to end his life or preferred to use ‘kid-gloves’ because if he were to kill any of her friends, he knew better than to think she’d ever forgive him. Either way, she feels somewhat lucky in an odd way that he hadn’t reacted as badly as she now knew he could have. Unlike Klaus, Silas had no attraction or reason to extend any amount of mercy towards her, which was extremely terrifying. Silas may be mortal now but he is also a very powerful witch. One that was able to keep up with her when she was still a vampire.
The ding of the toaster brings her out of her reverie. Caroline reaches into the toaster to carefully pull the slice of bread out. The front of her finger grazes the hot metal inside and she pulls it out as quickly as she can on instinct. “Damnit!” She whispers heatedly, knowing there were other vampires within the house. In the process of taking a step back as the pain still sizzles underneath her skin, she could see something in her peripheral vision. Turning her head quickly, she yelps.
“Shit!” She curses, jumping slightly in her own skin when she finds an unexpected figure in the entranceway of the kitchen.
A smirk graces his features and a deep chuckle escapes his lips.
“God, you can’t do that. I can’t exactly sense when you’re creepily stalking me anymore.”
He doesn’t respond but she thinks he gets the point. Klaus walks over to her and easily deposits both slices of toast onto the plate she had out. Fishing out a butter knife from one of the drawers and opening the lid to the jam.
“I’d like to take you somewhere.” His eyes glance over to her as she watches him spread the jam over the slices of toast before placing the used knife into the stainless steel sink. He then slides the plate closer to her and walks back over to the fridge to put the jar of jam away.
Caroline takes the plate and takes a couple steps over to the island counter where a couple stools sat. She sits and takes a bite out of her toast. “Now?”
“As soon as you are ready.” He then grins at her, clearly hiding something from her. “Although, I recommend you wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.”
----------------------------
They’ve been in the car maybe five minutes before Caroline began to question him on where he was taking her.
“Seriously?”
His eyebrow rises and he glances towards her with lighthearted eyes that tell her he was certainly enjoying her irritation. Caroline just resorts to glaring at him but it doesn't hold nearly the same weight that it had a few years ago when she’d glare at him then and he clearly knows it. Klaus’ eyes return to the road and Caroline sighs, settling further into the leather seat of his luxury SUV.
“If you can’t tell me where we’re going, can you at least tell me something?” She asks, thinking that maybe he would want to play the ‘hint game.’
A sly smirk puts the edge of his lips up. Instead of giving into her, he decides to veer off into a different topic altogether.
“Do you recall the period of time when Alaric helped train the doppelganger in the ridiculous hope that it would somehow keep her safe from my siblings and myself?”
Caroline is a little taken aback by his question. Obviously, she remembers. Elena had once tried to get her to join her and Alaric. What surprised her about it though was that he even knew about it in the first place because Elena had thought they’d kept it all ‘hush hush’ specifically so he wouldn’t find out. Although, Caroline now thinks that he would most likely know from pulling the information out of Tyler or having a hybrid tail them once in a while. Both scenarios are equally as realistic.
The Land Rover slows and turns down a dirt path that is cascaded with tall trees. Clearly, he was taking her somewhere in the countryside.
“Yeah, but I don’t see how that’s relevant unless you plan to drag me out into the middle of the woods and kill me.” She turns her head to look at him. “Because I will put up one hell of a fight.”
His chuckle is low but not in a dark way. The blue in his eyes gets a little brighter when he parks the car at the edge of a large clearing. There’s a few fallen logs and if Caroline squints just enough, she can make out the shape of a couple makeshift tents a couple hundred yards away. She feels the Original turn towards her after shutting the car off and she looks his way.
“Trust me, sweetheart, if I were to make you my victim, I wouldn’t need to take you to the Bayou.” The tone in his voice is as casual as if he were talking about dinner plans and the smile he dotes is edging on the side of diabolical.
She raises a brow and turns away from him as she opens the passenger side door. “Because that makes me feel reassured.” Caroline knows his lips tug higher up into his cheeks, enjoying her slight sarcasm and their back-and-forth banter. Sometimes she thinks he likes making her angry, she can’t really think of a reason why, but he seems to always draw that emotion out of her at times when he doesn’t really have to.
Upon getting out, she notices he rounds the back of the car and opens the tailgate. Klaus pulls two objects out and closes the tailgate before meeting her a few paces away from the black vehicle. Her eyes widen a hair and her eyebrows rise dramatically when she sees what he took out for the back of his SUV.
He holds two long medieval looking swords, one in each hand. Stepping up to her, he readjusts his grip on one of the swords and holds it by the blade, offering it to her by the leather wrapped handle. She physically hesitates, clearly confused about what his end goal was.
Klaus seems amused by her reaction and tips his head to the side.
“Go on, it won’t bite you.”
Her eyes shift from the sword in his hands and his eyes. Slowly, she grasps the handle of the sword and Klaus lets go. Caroline struggles for a moment, the sword being heavier than she had anticipated. Not knowing what to do with it, she lets the end of it sit on the ground.
On the other hand, Klaus holds his sword by the handle and holds it out diagonally in the air.
“Strike it.” He orders.
Caroline does nothing except look at him strangely before rolling her eyes. “Seriously? You brought me out here for your own amusement? Newsflash, I’m not exactly some minion you can drag out to weird places and play ‘swords’ with.”
Klaus sighs and lowers the sword down, expertly thrusting the point into the grassy ground.
“This is no game, love. As much as I’d like to be showing you my city, I have a vested interest in your safety and to keep you protected. From what I have come to realize within the past years in residing in New Orleans, I can’t be in multiple places at once. Thus, why we are here.” His empty hand motions along as he speaks and his eyes glance around the clearing at it’s mention. “I’d like to be able to say that I will be by your side at all times, but that would simply be false. Which is why I think it is pertinent and rather of astronomically great import that you have some ability to defend yourself.”
Caroline glances down at the sword in his hand. “With a sword?” She asks with a stifled laugh, almost amused by the thought of using a sword in an actual realistic fight.
“No, but it gives you a starting place and the ability to learn how to use spare objects as weapons.”
Klaus then raises the sword again and nods. “Now, strike it.”

some kyo headcanons for his birthday
gets incredibly carsick. disaster strikes on the first family roadtrip, before tohru learns this.....the passenger seat carpet will never be the same
loves matcha lattes ONLY. refuses to admit that it tastes like grass. gets it at kids temp because regular temp burns his tongue......tells no one his shameful secret......also will get sweet drinks with tohru only because it makes her so excited, but never wants yuki to find out that he would injest something that contains sugar!! kyo’s body is a temple >:(
mcr and fall out boy fan obviously, but also stanned paramore a ridiculous amount growing up. simped for hayley williams literally so hard that it got rid of every socially conditioned ounce of internalized misogyny in his little 12 year old soul—his respecting women origin story
used to get on omegle unsupervised in middle school, fought with a lot of other middle schoolers over martial arts discourse, and saw some dicks before clicking out as fast as he could. :( hasn’t felt completely okay since
loves milk. is also lactose intolerant. does not realize this. thinks the absolute anguish he feels every night in the bathroom after drinking a full cartoon of whole milk is just another cruel effect of the curse. (yuki: ????? you fucking dumbass)
owns an ipod shuffle in the year 2021. three songs only. creep, teenage dirtbag, loser. does not know why he likes these songs so much. also does not know how to sync an ipod to the computer so can never update his music library. tohru understands this hardship and just gives him little CDs full of love songs ;__;
absolutely awful auditory processing. fully does not hear song lyrics when he listens to music. laughs a few seconds after every else everytime someone tells a joke, which uo takes the absolute piss out of him for. yuki asks him a question, he fully just goes “what?” three times before yuki says “never fucking mind” and leaves the room
sure canonically he has a ton of nightmares because trauma—but have you ever considered that post-canon, he feels so safe and comfortable sleeping next to tohru that he is out like a lightbulb when she’s next to him :’)) possibly narcoleptic LMFAO
hates birthdays and therefore never wants to tell anyone what day it is....this leads to haru starting a running joke where, on absolute random days throughout the year he will over and over again tell everyone that it’s kyo’s birthday and lead a rousing rendition of happy birthday in public every. single. time......that’s the real curse

Jazz Club
Tumblr media
Hayley Does Halloween  He takes her to jazz club at a rainy evening and spontaneously takes the mic and start singing ‚Dance me to the end of love‘-asking band to keep up with him. While singing he gets closer to her and start dancing with her while singing to her. Sorry for my English, I just wrote whatever has just came through my mind. 💜 Dominic Calvert Lewin  Word Count: 549 “So where you taking me?” you asked Dom as the only instruction he had given you was you needed to dress smartly. That was all he said before he left for training and once he had come back from training he would make sure he would be ready.  “Let’s go” Dom rushed back down the stairs as you headed to the mysterious date night. “Oh okay” you laughed as you both run as fast as you could, running to get shelter from the rain.  You approached the venue. “Here we are” he smiled as you got parked up. “This is the jazz club, I know this is an impromptu date night. But me and couple of the boys were talking about it and I was like you know what, why not” he laughed.  “Ooh I am excited, I have never been to a place like this before. I am excited” you smiled at him as you jumped out of the car. The rain was lashing down as you made your way to the entrance.  You sat down at a table quite close to the front. It was the perfect seat, the waiter whisked round to take your drink order. “This place is lovely, I can’t believe I have never even noticed it before.” you caressed Dom’s hand with your thumb. “Aww I know, it is very nice isn’t it. See that’s why we need to explore” you nodded in agreement. “Yes we do” you smiled as the waiter bought over your drinks. All of a sudden Dom grabbed the microphone. You looked at him with wide eyes, slightly confused as to what was going on.  Dom told the band what song he wanted to sing. ‘Dance me to the end of love by Leonard Cohen’. “Keep up” he smiled as he started spontaneously singing which took you by surprise.  You only heard him singing in the shower, nothing more than that.  The voice made the hair on your hands stand on edge, his voice was so soothing and you loved everything single second of it. The smile wasn’t being wiped off of your face at all tonight. As he was singing, he walked over to you. Getting closer as he took out his hand, laying it down in front of you. You took his hand within his, he started dancing with you.  You instantly forget that the whole room had eyes on you, you felt safe with Dom in his arms as you listened to his soothing singing voice.  - “Your voice was stunning, so magical. I felt like I was on my own just listening to you. Like nobody was else in the room. It was beautiful, a moment I will never ever forget” you cuddled him.  “Aww I am so happy you enjoyed it. It was honestly so lovely to be able to do that for you” he smiled as you stayed in a cuddle for what felt like a life time.  “Thank you for bringing me here, it has been such a lovely evening. I couldn’t have imagined to have had a night like this” you told Dom. “Aww I am so happy that we came here. We can do this again soon” you smiled at him as you enjoyed the rest of the night together.  Taglist: @footballffbarbiex @evie-pr @sanchos-dream @meteora-fc @mrsmctominay @penguintransporter @football-and-fanfics @footballdaydream @hotyeehawman @trentski26 @footballxixstars @hazardybala @yagetintoit @chilly-me-softly @pickfordsmount @kingneyney @bellinghamsbitch @mrspulisic10 @domspeach (these tags carry on from the baby series, please let me know if you want to still be on the list)

I’m the anon that requested the angel reader w Elijah and I ✨loved it✨! If u could pls write more and further the relationship between the two, I would love to! ☺️
summary: follows the request—part two to this!
pairing: elijah mikaelson x angel! reader
word count: 908 words
warnings: Christianity, angels, mentions of divinity/God, questions of faith????, definite canon divergence
a/n: uhhhhhhhhhhHHHHH asdfdsaasdj angel!reader trying to figure out her feelings is fun to write.  expect a part three, eventually!
Tumblr media
It had been a couple months since you arrived on Earth and revealed yourself to the Mikaelsons.  You found yourself only getting closer and closer with Elijah, no matter how many times your heart told you no.  It wasn’t proper.  You shouldn’t have felt the way you do about him.  And yet, here you were, bouncing your leg as you sat on the sofa, wondering where Elijah was.
He had told you he would have been home quite a few hours ago.  Perhaps you should have used your abilities to find him.  But you knew that you could trust him.
Be that as it may, it shocked you quite a bit to hear Elijah’s voice paired with a sweet, feminine voice.  You felt your heart clench in your chest—if that is what you would call the muscle resting and mimicking a human heart.  You were an angel, after all—you didn’t need anything that a human did.
You got to your feet, allowing them to carry you out into the entryway.  You saw Elijah and a beautiful girl standing there, taking off their coats.  You knew this girl.  Hayley.  And you knew that the emotions radiating off of Elijah were meant for Hayley and only Hayley.
You pursed your lips and kept quiet, not letting yourself be known.  With your abilities, you left the room, swiftly appearing in the guest room Klaus had been kind enough to let you stay in while you were at the Mikaelsons.  You began to pace back and forth.
What was this feeling?  Jealousy?  Were you jealous of a mortal?
A knock came from beyond your door.  You knew that it was Elijah.  A part of you debated if you should even open the door for the vampire.  But the other half of you walked over and opened the door, sending Elijah a kind smile.
“[Your name],” he grinned.  “I have someone that I’d like you to meet,” he said, moving slightly to reveal Hayley.
Only then did you take notice of her growing middle.  Your eyes widened as you looked at it and then you locked eyes with hers.
“I’m pregnant with Klaus’s child.  I was... hoping you could check up on the child for me.  I would think going to a doctor’s office might not be much help,” she smiled.
You blinked slowly and looked from Hayley to Elijah.  That’s the emotion he was feeling.  Excitement, for his niece or nephew.  Elijah looked at you and softly smiled.
“Only if you would like to, [Your name].”
You moved out of the way and allowed both of them inside.  As soon as Hayley sat down on the edge of your bed, you pressed your hand against her belly.
“I’ve never seen a child in person,” you admitted.
Hayley blushed but she smiled.  “Will you be around long enough to meet mine?”
You looked up at her and gave a small nod.  “As long as the Mikaelson’s allow me.”
Elijah tilted his head in response to that, but he said nothing.
“Do you already know the gender?” you asked.  She shook her head.  “Do you want to know?”
She hesitated for just a moment but then she nodded.
“It’s a girl.”
“Is she healthy?” Hayley grinned.
“Very,” you softly spoke.  “And I...” you closed your eyes for just a moment.  “She will be safe.  I promise you that,” you said, looking up at Hayley.  “You can think of me as her personal guardian angel,” you grinned, unable to stop the growing excitement.  For as long as you had been on Earth, you had only seen children and pregnant women on television.  You had only passed by them in public, and you never truly met anyone pregnant.  This would be a new experience for you.
After a couple minutes, Hayley had left to go and talk to Klaus, but Elijah stayed.  He stood up and came over to your side.
“You came down to the foyer, but you said nothing.  Are you alright?”
You looked up at him and you felt your cheeks burn.  You knew you were being silly.  You cleared your throat and gave him a soft smile.  “I’m fine, Elijah.”
“Are you sure?  You left in quite a hurry if I do so remember.”
You resorted to sitting in the spot that Hayley once occupied.  “I thought...”
You didn’t need to say anything else for Elijah to catch on.  He gained a soft smile in return and he took the seat beside of you.
“[Your name], please forgive me for being so brazen, but if I am being honest, I only have eyes for one woman.  And I do believe that it would be against her best interests to feel the same for me.”
You stopped for just a moment, turning to face him completely.  “What are you saying?  That... that there is someone else?” you furrowed your eyebrows, confusion washing over you.
Perhaps you weren’t too well-versed in the mannerisms of humans—er, vampires.
“You, [Your name].”
Your eyes met with his and in an instant, you wrapped your arms around his neck.  Whatever overtook you would have to wait for another day to be figured out.  All you knew that is as soon as you hugged him, he hugged you back.
Love wasn’t evil.  So maybe, just maybe, this was something meant for angels just in the same manner that it was meant for mortals.  Or, rather, immortals, in this case.

Old Flame: Pt. 15
Warnings: Cursing & a lil touch of NSFW
Word Count: 3371
OLD FLAME MASTERLIST: CLICK HERE
-
While this 7 hour road trip to Arkansas is taking place, you and Hayley offered many times to take over the wheel but Klaus did not budge. He’s had his fair share of you and Hayley taking the wheel a few times in the past. He’ll never put himself through such horror again.
Other than that, Klaus has informed you of everything he’s learned from Finn so far. You’ve learned that Esther’s first born, Freya did not die from plague, but she was taken by Esther’s sister, Dahlia in exchange for Esther to be fertile. The thought made you sick to your stomach, but if it wasn’t for Esther’s sacrifice, you would have never met Klaus.
That piece of information wasn’t the last of it. Klaus mentioned that every first born in the Mikaelson family belongs to Dahlia and since Hope is still alive, you hope that Dahlia doesn't come after her too.
This family cannot catch a break.
As much as you tried to stay awake for Klaus, he insisted you get some rest and you did just that, leaning your head against the passenger side window. He reached his right arm over his head for his jacket that is sprawled over his seat and placed it over you as a makeshift blanket, careful to focus his eyes on the road at the same time.
Once you are fast asleep, Klaus couldn’t help but steal a glance at your peaceful state. Outstretching his right arm, he rests his palm over your thigh, briskly caressing it with his thumb.
“You really love Y/N, huh?” A very awake Hayley mentioned from the back seat behind him.
Klaus flickered his eyes at the rear view mirror, waiting a beat before responding. “So it seems.” He sniggered lightly.
“Have you told her?” Hayley asked. After not receiving a response from him, she already knew his answer. “I think you should. I don’t know anyone else on this planet that would put up with you the way that she does.”
“Your advice is touching.” Klaus hid his vulnerability with a sarcastic tone. Hayley sighed heavily, displeased that he was making a joke out of her serious advice.
(Later…)
It is now daylight when you, Klaus and Hayley pull up to a house that neither you nor Hayley have ever been to. It is a white two story home with dark brown shutters. Rebekah, Elijah and who you assume is Hope are standing outside, eager for your arrival.
Tumblr media
Klaus wastes no time approaching the home and Hayley nearly jumps out of the back seat, rushing towards her daughter. Klaus follows suit and you take your time stepping out of the passenger seat in slow motion. You’ll never understand how much this mother and father missed their child so you kept your distance to allow them this moment with their daughter.
You walked over to Elijah and Rebekah. Rebekah welcomed you with open arms, reeling you in for a tight hug. “Oh, Y/N.” Rebekah muttered, freeing you of her tight hold. “I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you too, sis.” You smiled.
“Has Nik been giving you a hard time?”
You rolled your eyes playfully. “Of course.”
“How about that dreadful friend of yours, Kai.” Rebekah flashed a look of disgust. “Has Nik killed him yet?”
You sighed, perturbed of the heretic’s whereabouts. “No. I have no idea where he is. But your mother has something to do with it.”
“Esther?” She reeled back, shocked. “How did this happen?”
“It’s a long story, Rebekah. It’ll bore you.” You chuckled faintly. She flashed a nervous smile at you, seeing right through your facade.
“Y/N.” Nik interrupted, appearing beside you with Hope in his arms. You turned to face him, eyes widening at the beautiful infant before you. “This is Hope.” He added.
“Hi Hope.” Your mouth curved into a grin, raising your hand and Hope latches onto your finger, blue eyes staring into yours. You peer up at Klaus, whispering loudly. “She’s beautiful.” You glanced from Klaus to Hayley who both approve of your sweet comment.
“She is, isn’t she?” Hayley mentioned to you in a calm tone, gazing at her daughter as she steals him from Klaus’s arms. “Come here, sweetie.”
You started on helping Rebekah and the men gather wood for a bonfire right in front of the home. Klaus started informing his siblings about the whole mess of their Aunt Dahlia.
“So is there any chance of us running into your psycho Aunt Dahlia soon?” You asked.
“Fable’s over a thousand years old, sister.” Elijah responded, adding a piece of the wood to the neat pile, his sleeves folded up to his elbows. “Dahlia’s long dead.”
“Like Esther?” Hayley added, setting her daughter inside the car seat that is on the ground beside Klaus.
“No one’s going to hurt Hope because no one’s going to find her.” Klaus announced. “That’s enough wood, Rebekah. You’ll burn down the whole bloody state of Arkansas.”
Tumblr media
“Well, we’re just missing a key ingredient.” Rebekah pointed out, tone exuberant.
“No, we’re not.” Klaus tensed up instantaneously. Your eyes narrowed, curious as to what the siblings are referring to.
“Yes we are, Nik. Back me up, Elijah.” Rebekah gestured a nagging hand at the noble Mikaelson.
“I suspect Niklaus would rather choke on the ashes.” Elijah sniggered.
“What are you all talking about?” You asked, fed up with being out of the loop.
“Well, before we light it, we write down our wishes for each other to burn for good luck.” Rebekah answered. “It was Kol’s favorite part when we were kids.”
“Neat.” You murmured.
“Further evidence as to why we should ignore it.” Klaus mentioned with distaste.
“Nik.” You nagged, bothered that he’s such a bully to his youngest brother.
“Hope’s first bonfire season. I like it. We’re doing it.” Hayley remarked, turning on her heel as she waltzed inside the house. Klaus let out an exasperated sigh before picking up Hope’s carrier and taking her inside with Elijah following behind him.
“Now Y/N,” Rebekah started once her brothers were no longer earshot, “tell me all about your time with my brother.”
You snorted, hands at hips. “Where do I begin?”
(Meanwhile…)
A moment after, Hayley writes down her wish. She folds the piece of paper and stuffs it inside her front pocket. Then, she grabs a notepad and goes after Klaus who is sitting at the dining table, playing with his daughter that he’s missed so much.
“Here.” Hayley said, placing the notepad on the table directly in front of him.
Klaus stole a glance at the dreaded notepad before bringing his focus back to Hope. “I’m holding a small child, Hayley. The silly wish game will have to wait.”
Tumblr media
“You write. I’ll hold.” She responded.
“You do realize it is not I who is to be the husband you can boss around.”
“Oh, right.” She shook her head slowly, as if coming to a realization. “Y/N!” She called, briefly looking over her shoulder.
He narrowed his eyes before handing his daughter to her mother. “Fine.”
Being confident as ever after talking Klaus into writing his wish, she was all smiles. “I wish you would tell Elijah you’re marrying your werewolf suitor,” Klaus mentioned as he’s writing, causing Hayley to come to a halt and frown, “at which point I would pour him a scotch and congratulate him on the bullet he dodged.”
Klaus rips the small sheet of paper off and hands it to Hayley with a smug. She snatched it from him, crumpled it in her hand and marched away with her daughter in her arm, evidently vexed.
Tumblr media
You walked past Hayley before finding Klaus in the dining room. “Hey Nik. Did you write down your wish?” You asked. He gestured for you to sit on his lap and you did so by sitting on his left leg, snaking your right arm around his neck.
“Unfortunately.” He replied with raised brows. “Did you?”
“Of course I did.” You said. Klaus stared at you silently with a specified expression that you can easily determine. “And no, I’m not telling you my wish.” You are certain that if you tell him that you wish for Kai’s safe return, his elated mood would quickly plummet and that’s the last thing anyone wants right now. Especially you, since you’ve had your fair share of arguments with him already.
“Alright, love.” He allowed this defeat. He suddenly pats on your behind as a gesture to stand. “Come now. Let’s get this bloody bonfire started.” His tone was far from excited.
After bringing everyone to the front, Rebekah rushes inside the house as Klaus starts throwing lit matches to the wood one by one, in no rush for this bonfire. Minute by minute, the flame grows and Rebekah finally makes her return with a fairly aged Polaroid in her hand. “Hey, look what I found!” She mentioned with excitement, making her way to Hayley, Hope and Elijah who are standing at a fair distance from the flame. “I wonder if it’ll work.”
As everyone looks to Rebekah, Klaus is the least excited about his sister’s discovery. “Oh, bloody hell.” He puts his hands to his hips and looks away from her. You couldn’t help but giggle because you know how much Klaus dreads taking photos.
Tumblr media
“Come on, let’s try. Hey Nik, do you think you can cram us into a selfie?” Rebekah walked over to the two you with everyone else following behind her. You thought it was adorable hearing the excitement in her voice.
“Niklaus is the virtuoso of cramming his siblings into confined spaces.” Elijah said snidely.
“Elijah’s got a point.” You chimed, refraining yourself from laughing at his snarky comment.
“I’m so glad I traveled hundreds of miles to visit my mentally ill brother only to have him insult me to my face.” Klaus looks down at the Polaroid camera, prepping it as everyone squeezes together.
“Come on, just take the picture.” Rebekah spat.
Finally, Klaus straightened his arm and raised the camera so that it’s at the right angle. Then, he gives it a few seconds before he snaps a photo. Everyone waited a beat for the photo to unveil itself full of you, your beloved, his deranged siblings that you adore, the mother of his child and their daughter. To put it simply. It’s a photo full of supernatural creatures. The majority mean the world to you. What an interesting combination.
To everyone’s misfortune, the photo needed to be burned for Hope’s safety. Klaus didn’t want to risk this photo ending up in the wrong hands. And as much as it kills everyone, it had to be done. You managed to remember to throw your wish in the bonfire as well. Rebekah, on the other hand, had everyone else’s attention. She was fed up and decided that she wants to do whatever it takes to take Esther down.
As everyone retreats inside, you remain put, staring at where that little piece of paper once was. You reach into your front pocket and dial Kai’s cell phone again, even though it’s a long shot. Frustrated with this loss, you continue calling his phone over and over again until you couldn’t handle hearing his obnoxious voicemail. “God dammit.” You whispered in frustration, staring up at the sky, shaking your head. “Where the hell are you, Kai?”
The flame is now dying down, so you made your way inside, following the Mikaelson’s voices. It seems they are forming a plan to defeat Esther.
After going over the very specific plan with them with a wine glass of blood in your hand, you took a much needed shower in an en-suite bathroom of your choice, then threw a robe on while your clothes are in the washer.
Stepping out of the laundry room, you go back inside the en-suite bathroom and comb your wet hair, freeing it of any knots. The sound of familiar footsteps approach, followed by the creaking of the door opening. “Showering?” You asked Klaus.
“It seems you did without me.” He smirked, freeing himself of his dark long sleeve to reveal his flawless physique. You made sure to steal a glance at him as you continued to brush through your strands.
“That’s too bad.” You answered lightheartedly.
“Indeed it is.” He added, eyeing you hungrily. He caught you off guard when he whooshed towards you and spun you to face him. You gasped at the gesture, hairbrush falling to the ground, awaiting his next move.
You peered up at the lust in his eyes, nipping at your bottom lip. In one brisk move, you are placed over the counter behind you and he leans down, pressing his plump lips onto yours, tongue swirling inside of your needy mouth.
You are his and he is yours. The thought alone made your entire being burst with elation. Your heart was beating so wildly as you wrapped your legs around him to bring him closer to you, feeling him harden by the second.
His hands began making its way to your cheeks all the way down to the knot of your robe, lips never detaching from yours.
Before you knew it, your robe was untied and you were completely naked on the bathroom counter. You were so caught up in this ravenous moment that you hadn’t realized you were naked until he stroked your breasts. The sinful gesture alone made you pool with desire down below.
Klaus separated his lips from yours and silently went on his knees, throwing your legs over his shoulders. He licked his upper lip, gazing up at you. “Wet, are we?” Klaus mentioned before starting on his meal.
You.
(Later…)
After a much deserved nap and a cup of coffee, the sun will soon disappear and the moon will make its appearance. You, Rebekah and Klaus hit the road back to New Orleans. Surprisingly, Klaus didn’t drive this time since he’s hardly had any rest, so he had Rebekah take over.
“You remember the plan, love?” Klaus asked you from the back seat.
“Yes I do.” You assured him casually, scrolling through your phone to cure your boredom. You’ve only heard the plan a million times before leaving Arkansas.
“Do you know what to do, Rebekah?” He asked his sister.
“Yes. But if it doesn’t go to plan, will you handle my body with care please?” She pouted. “I may miss the old model.”
“Of course we will.” You chimed in, peering at Rebekah for an ephemeral time before bringing your focus back to your phone.
“If everything goes south, i’ll be there to pull you out.” The hybrid stated. “We just have to take Esther down before she body-jumps. I don’t want all of this to have been for nothing.”
“You and I on the same team, Nik. It must be Christmas.” Rebekah added. Klaus responded with a grin before getting some shut eye during this prolonged car ride.
(Later…)
As soon as you touched down in New Orleans to the Mikaelson compound, you stretched your limbs and wandered inside. Cami, Marcel and Davina were gathered together in the courtyard, prepping for a spell. You shot them a glance before making a beeline for the grand kitchen because you were absolutely famished. Klaus had a quick word with Kol before Kol and Rebekah headed over to their mother’s current living quarters. It was an urgent step for the plan and everyone was in on it besides Esther and Finn.
Many minutes later, Klaus received a text from Rebekah and the two of you drove off into the night to the Lafayette cemetery, careful not to make too much noise before approaching them.
It wasn’t difficult to locate where Esther, Kol and Rebekah were in this large cemetery. All you had to do was follow the only illuminated area as well as use your vamp hearing. “Mother, think this through. You gave birth to this body. You can’t destroy it.” You heard Rebekah plead.
“I am only destroying its flesh. Your beautiful soul will live on in the body of another. I have chosen well for you. A beautiful girl. Strong.” Esther attempted to justify her actions, tone confident. You hid behind one of the nearest tombs.
“Mother!” Klaus shouted, standing tall above another tomb. “Stop the spell.” He dashed to the ground, taking long strides towards the trio. “You and your traitorous son.”
“Nik, I didn’t know anything about it. I swear.” Kol expressed.
“Oh good. I’m glad you two boys are friends again.” Esther said, pleased. “I did wonder what you’d been up to in your time away. Now I know.”
“Stop the blasted spell.” Klaus demanded.
“I’m afraid that’s impossible.”
“Anything is possible. Take me instead.” Your brows furrowed at Klaus’s offer. You don’t recall him mentioning that. Though instead of dwelling on it, you stayed put until you were needed. You didn’t want to risk screwing up the plan. You hoped that he was just saying it to stall Esther.
“Nik, no!” Rebekah grasped his forearm.
“If only you’d taken my offer when it was still mine to give.” Esther blurted. “Unfortunately, you left me no choice but to make a deal with Mikael.”
“Mikael?” You mouthed to yourself, face contorting as you’re taken aback from the news. You completely forgot about him being alive in general, but the fact that the parents are teaming together doesn’t sound too great.
“When Finn and Kol went missing, I needed a new ally. All he wanted was the right to kill you.” Esther expressed. “Kol, I would ask you to deliver the stake to your father, but it seems your loyalties have been compromised.”
You tighten your grip around the white oak stake in your hand and your nostrils flared as you’re ready to pounce on Esther. In a flash you saw Klaus step towards your direction as if he was just casually pacing from exasperation. You were still undetected by Esther, so Klaus quickly winked at you before turning on his heel and shifting his expression back to an aggravated one. So far it’s selling.
“Stop the spell, Esther!” Klaus roared.
“It’s okay, Nik. I can do this.” Rebekah implied.
“So you’re feeling murderous again.” The mother spat, displeased. “You should know, I’ve already chosen another body.”
“Now!” Kol hollered and that was your cue.
Finally.
You whooshed towards Esther and stabbed her in the neck with the white oak stake. She looked at you with wide eyes as the blood poured down the new wound. You sighed in satisfaction, taking in the win. All went according to plan.
The sound of the witch bowl exploding into pieces near Kol at a distance and Klaus calling his sister’s name snapped you out of your victory. Looking over your shoulder, you find a passed out original sister in the arms of her older brother.
“Uh, did it work?” You flickered your eyes from Klaus to Kol for a response.
“I don’t know.” Klaus replied. “Kol, would you? I need to bring mother inside.” He gestured for Kol to hang onto Rebekah and he obliged. Klaus effortlessly threw his mother over his shoulder and escorted her body inside one of the sizable tombs. You learned from Kol that it’s spelled so that she cannot escape.
Klaus must’ve forgotten that Kol isn’t as strong as he is in his original body because he was slightly struggling to keep Rebekah on her feet. You came to his aid and threw her other arm over your shoulder, placing the white oak stake in your back pocket.
“Sister.” Kol called to you in a low tone, as if not wanting to be heard from Klaus. You hummed, notifying him that you’re all ears. “I’ve gotten mother to tell me your friend’s current placement.”
“You did?” Your head snapped to Kol, eyes widened, speaking in a loud whisper. “Is he alive?”
“Yes.” You exhaled in relief from his response. “But I’ll tell you more once we’re at the compound.”
“Thank you.” You mouthed to Kol who glimpsed at you, then to the ground. After days and nights of waiting, you’re finally going to get your answer.

Just Another Night Of Hanging Out
Pairing: Morcia
Tags: fluff, a bit of pining, a soft spa and movie night in
Summary: Penelope and Morgan are just friends, the bestest of friends, which is why they have spa and movie nights. Hours spent close by each other's side, trying to hold in the love that is nearly bursting from their hearts. After all, it’s not like the other is in love with them...
WC: 3.4 k words
For the lovely @morcias because hayley loves morcia and inspired me to write this cute ass OS :)
-----------------------
“So are you going to tell him tonight?” JJ smirked and wiggled her eyebrows at Penelope, slowly raising her coffee mug to take a sip.
“Tell who what, sweets?” Penelope twirled the sparkly pen around in her hand, purposefully averting her eyes from her friend and planting them on her computer screen.
“Pen, we’ve been over this. Tell Derek. I mean, it’s obvious that you two were made for each other. Don’t even get me started on how he looks at you or talks about you. What’s taking you so long?” The blonde leaned back against the desk, watching Penelope aimlessly move around files on her desktop.
“Okay, ever since you and Prentiss have gotten together, you have gone all lovey-dovey on me. Derek Morgan is not in love with me. We’re just the best of friends, pals if you want, that have a spa and movie night planned tonight.” JJ rolled her eyes, ignoring her friend’s jab at her new relationship.
“Ew, please never call yourself and Derek ‘pals’. Also, you helped Emily and I get together so you have nothing to say there. Fine, I guess I won’t tell you what Derek told me about you on the jet ride home yesterday. Enjoy moving your files around.” With that, JJ turned to leave the woman’s office, a smirk wide on her face.
“Pump, your brakes. He said something about me? And you weren’t gonna tell me? Jayje, need I remind you that I have the powers of the boundless internet at my fingertips? Park yourself in this seat and spill.” Penelope swiveled around in her chair with enthusiasm, rapt by the information JJ had.
Gesturing to the chair that was against the wall, Garcia’s eyes followed her friend. She could feel the thrum of her heart speed up. Fidgeting with the frilly pen in her hand, she tried to calm her nerves. It would do her no good to be jittery. Derek was her best friend, and she just happened to fall in love with him, that’s all. It was no big deal. Maybe if she told herself that enough, she could believe it. At the moment, just the thought of Morgan alone turned her world. To hell with money or fame or even love, she just needed him. She needed him at her side, in whatever way she could have it.
“Okay, okay, Pen. You know I wouldn’t have kept it from you anyway. Anyways, he was talking to me about a baseball game for the Chicago cubs and I mentioned that you used to go to baseball games as a kid. You should’ve seen his face. His smile stretched like a mile wide and he did that thing with his eyebrows that he does when he thinks about or talks to you.”
Penelope’s nose scrunched and her eyebrows furrowed. Sure she had gone to baseball games as a kid, but it wasn’t often and she never remembered enough about it to have a full conversation about Derek. Why did that thought make him so happy? What eyebrow thing was JJ talking about? In the years that she had spent with him, hours lost examining the sharp angles of his face, she had never seen “the eyebrow thing”. JJ had to be pulling her leg.
Beyond that, imagining the glowing smile on Derek’s face made her giddy. She could almost trace the smile lines that ran deep beside his cheek in her mind. Penelope’s eyes almost closed, piecing together the picture of Morgan’s eyes shining at the thought of her. That was a kind of happiness that she would never be able to describe. It was beyond the butterflies cliche, more that it felt like her life just got 1000 times brighter and she never had to worry ever again.
“Very funny, Jayje. What eyebrow thing? My sweet and I have a close relationship, and I think I would have noticed an “eyebrow thing” if he had one. I know every inch of his angelic face like the back of my hand. He is “the Derek Morgan”, and even if I am a tech goddess, he doesn’t love me like that. I’m his god-given solace, but not the one to complete his heart for the rest of eternity.” Penelope’s voice quivered near the end of her statement. She didn’t let her mind wander too much, hyper-aware of JJ’s presence.
“Oh, look at that, it looks like a data packet is finally ready to upload. Can I get back to my work now?” Garcia quickly diverted the attention from herself at the ping of her computer. JJ didn’t even have time to form a response before she was ushered out.
The click of the door was followed by Garcia slumping back into her chair. The air had left her lungs and the monotone beep of her many monitors was not enough to dull the thoughts in her head. The data packet that she had talked about had been ready to download since before JJ entered her office. Penelope finally started to let it run. She let her wishful thinking set in once more. Images of Derek Morgan’s hand in her own with the words “I love you” on his lips flashed across her thoughts.
It was wishful thinking indeed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Grunts and groans filled the air around Derek Morgan. His eyes were focused on his assailant, determined not to let them get a hit on him. His stance was tight, the balls of his feet light against the ground. Sweat had begun to bead against his eyebrows. Derek’s hands were taut in fists and raised to protect his body. Now, he just had to wait for the right moment to attack.
Everything happened too quickly after that. His eye had caught a sticker on the wall of the BAU gym that was glittery and radiant against the sunlight. Penelope. She was the only one that would do that. The woman was an angel in human form and his focus shifted. He thought of the way that her face lit up around anyone that was talking passionately and the sweet scent of her “candy perfume”. Those distractions were enough to land him flat on his ass.
Emily crouched down beside him and took off her head guard. She had watched the slight tilt in his head and noted a minimal looseness come into his form. Taking advantage of the momentary weakness, and really to test Morgan’s attention, she swung a right hook to his chest. The move was easily blockable and yet her partner had taken it in its full force.
“Morgan, what’s gotten into you?” She said the words quietly, still panting from the intensity of their session. “That hook was square on you and you didn’t even move to block it.”
“I guess my eyes lost focus for a second. Come on, let’s go again. I still haven’t given you your weekly crushing loss.” He beamed and tried to divert the conversation. There was no way he was going to talk about Penelope right now.
Emily laughed weakly and fakely at the joke. She knew exactly what Morgan was trying to pull. Emily had done it many times herself on the topic of JJ before they had gotten together. She recognized that same lovesick look in his eyes. Still wanting to clear up the reason for his loss of focus, Emily asked him again.
“Don’t avoid my question, Derek. Is it Pen? I can see that look in your eyes, like the one you used to make fun of me for before I started dating JJ. You have to tell her, man.”
“No, it wasn’t her. Even if it did happen to be her, Penelope is my best friend and nothing more.”
Lie. Derek Morgan was lying through his teeth.
Penelope Garcia was more to him than words could describe. She was more to him than actions could show. She was more to him than consciousness could perceive. Penelope was his life force. She was the one thing that made waking up in the morning not seem like a chore. She was a light that could alone guide him out of the darkest corners of the Earth, with a heart that felt like the warm safe haven of his childhood home. If he had her and nothing else, Derek Morgan’s world would continue to spin as it did. He just needed her at his side, in whatever way he could have it.
“Liar. You called her Penelope, and you only do that when you start daydreaming about her. Wait! Today is your date with her, isn’t it? I think JJ told me something about a movie and dinner? Ooooh.”
Emily’s words were punctuated by a sigh from Derek. He rolled his eyes in hopes of not revealing how truly excited he was. His heart was beating faster in his chest and that had nothing to do with the rigorous workout that he had just finished with Emily. He knew that Penelope had lined up an array of skincare as part of their special activity for the night. Knowing that she would be so close to his face, Derek would have to resist his urge to kiss her.
“Oh, shut up. It’s not a date. Me and my baby girl are just hanging out, like best friends are supposed to. Just because you and JJ happened to be more than best friends, doesn’t mean that Garcia and I are. She doesn’t like me like that. Garcia is sunlight as a person, or rather an All-Knowing Goddess, so you really think she would date me? I don’t think so.”
Morgan walked into the locker room before Emily could answer. Yet he still heard a faint “Stop lying to yourself” through the thick door. Derek smiled to himself and grabbed his bag from the corner of the locker room. He changed his shoes and threw one a light jacket. It was barely enough to stop him from shivering under the cold sweat, he would remove it immediately in his car. He got to see Penelope in almost 2 hours, he realized as he checked his watch.
There went his heart again, beating faster and faster. It was almost as if he was in love with her.
Shaking the thoughts from his head, he shut the door and exited the locker room. Derek kept his head down as Emily reappeared by his side. The least he could do was try to hide his deep infatuation further.
“I know that you won’t look at me because you’re blushing, or whatever your version of blushing is. Listen, I’m telling you to go for it. Pen looks at you like you’re offering her the universe in your hands to her whenever you two speak. You, Loverboy, have a thing for Miss Penelope Garcia, and she has one for you. You’re practically already married.”
“You’re just pulling my leg. We’re friends. Do I need to spell it out for you? Garcia and I aren’t going to be more than friends, because she doesn’t like me like that.”
“Oh, of course she doesn’t, and I’m straight.” Derek huffed as the two exited the BAU gym into the building’s open lobby.
Just by “fluke”, JJ and Penelope were walking down the opposite hallway towards them. It’s not like Emily had texted JJ to coordinate their arrivals into the lobby. That would be absurd.
Penelope’s eyes widened when she noticed Derek beside Emily. He was sweaty and tired from his workout, and yet Penelope couldn’t think of a time where he had looked better. She staggered her words in her side conversation with JJ, attempting to not sound overly flustered. JJ eventually spotted the two and waved them over, smiling brightly at her girlfriend. Morgan noticed the pink tinge in Garcia’s cheeks and simply decided that they were because of her lair’s frigidity.
JJ walked over to Emily and pulled her in for a chaste kiss, leaving Penelope and Morgan standing at odds with each other. Both had piling nerves for the night ahead of them, but those subsided quickly when they respectively remembered that it was no different to any other night spent between the two of them. It was just another night of hanging out.
Derek’s smile grew and he took the final step towards Penelope. He wraps his arms around her, just as he has and will do a thousand times. She fits perfectly in his hug. Penelope leans her head into Derek’s chest. She could feel his erratic heartbeat and chalked it up to his workout. He was still sweaty but Garcia didn’t mind. Rain or shine, sweaty or not, Derek’s arms were her home.
JJ and Emily faked a little disgust, letting out animated sounds to indicate the pair’s sappiness. Penelope chuckled and pulled back away from Derek just a little bit, their hug still mostly intact. She made the mistake of looking into his eyes, and him looking into hers. They got lost in them, too rapt with imagining their futures together. Neither Morgan nor Penelope had any sense of time as they reveled in the beauty of the other’s eyes. They finally pulled apart when JJ cleared her throat, smirking at Penelope’s flushed face.
“So, Baby girl, I’ll see you at 6:45? In like an hour and a half? How does that sound?” Derek shifted his eyes to the floor, diligently readjusting the strap of his workout bag against his shoulder.
“Perfect.” Penelope smiled at him, enough to melt his heart and make his brain foggy.
They departed after a quick cheek kiss, ignoring how it made them feel.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Penelope zipped around her apartment, a thousand things running through her head. She had her arms full of serums and other various products that she had forgotten to add to her cart. Garcia had decided to go sans makeup for this hangout and was ready to make Derek glow just like her.
She glanced over to the DVD player that sat in the corner of the room. It was properly hooked up and ready to go, her small collection of movies for the night beside it. After that, her eyes swiveled around her to check for anything else that was missing. Satisfied with her preparation, Penelope checked her watch.
6:44 PM. Derek should be here any second.
RINGGGG
The sound of the doorbell sent Penelope a few inches off the ground, a yelp escaping her lips. She made a dash for the door. Opening it only seconds after the bell, Penelope took in Derek on the other side of the doorway. He was wearing a white muscle tee and wearing the pajama pants that she had bought him a month ago. It had been their little secret after Penelope saw the pants that reminded her of Morgan, not being able to resist the urge to buy them.
“Hey, how’s my favorite girl in the world?” Derek held up their takeout and his movie selections for the night.
“Brilliant, as always. Come on in. Let’s get started!” Penelope wasted no time in dragging the man in.
“Well, you are glowing. I’m super excited.” Derek spied the cart on the side, eyes widening at the true extent of Penelope’s effort.
“Aww, you’re sweet. You’ll look like this too when I’m done with you! Your dry skin will be no more. Seriously though, you should moisturize it more.” Penelope’s words were fast enough for him to barely catch them but he simply watched her face instead.
She eagerly set the dinner to the side, ushering him to go and wash his face. Returning soon, they decided to get dinner out of the way before getting to the skincare and movies. Nearly 45 minutes later, Derek sat back in the chair that Garcia had gestured him to. The woman sat on her stool, pulling up her cart with various products for Derek’s routine.
“Okay, so like I said before, you have dry skin. Upbupbup, I know that you moisturize it, but baby the dryness shows. So, I have some special goodies here for you today. They’re gonna fix everything right up!” Morgan didn’t catch much of Penelope’s speech, too wrapped up in the way that her eyes glimmered under the incandescent lighting.
“I have this moisturizing serum here that is perfect for you, but first we’re doing sheet masks! I went to the store and I got the 24-carat gold one because they are the most perfect for us. So lay your head back, and let me roll this on you.”
Derek silently obeyed, letting the refreshing and cooling material rest softly against his face. He truly didn’t realize when the time had passed, because Penelope was taking it off 5 seconds later. From there, Penelope went on a long, detailed routine and product explanation that Derek barely understood a word of. He tried to explain that he did wash his face semi-regularly, but it didn’t hold up against Penelope’s regimented plan.
His face felt smooth and well taken care of when Penelope finally tapped him on the shoulder. Derek sat up slowly, letting his eyes droop open and find her. Her eyes were shining and her cheeks were flushed. One thing was for sure, Morgan liked the feeling of Penelope’s soft fingers brushing against his face to apply products.
They put away everything and sat down for the movie. It was a cheesy romantic comedy, just like the kind that Penelope watched when she wanted to clear her mind. The oblivious characters on screen were quite the spot-on comparison for Derek and Penelope. Their antics brought the two many laughs, while still melting their hearts with sappiness. Derek felt relaxed, more than his mind and soul, his heart was relaxed. Having Penelope so close as they enjoyed the movie was a perfect picture of domesticity. Morgan wanted it forever.
“I wish that we could do this together forever. You’re just so perfect for me.” Derek’s eyes stayed on the screen, not realizing he had said anything aloud.
Penelope, on the other hand, almost freaked out. All of her internal alarms went off, terrified that this was a prank. Was Derek serious? He couldn’t be. Penelope couldn’t let the information nag at her. She burst out her question moments later.
“Do you mean it? Do you want forever with me?” The words snapped Derek out of his trance.
He looked down at the woman and realized what had happened. There was no way to get out of this but through. Here goes nothing. He took a deep breath and prepared himself. This wasn’t something that he could mess up. Penelope was his everything, and she needed to know that.
“Yes, I do. Penelope Garcia, you are my saving grace. Every second I spend with you makes my heart palpitate and my thoughts go crazy. But at the same time, you are the only one that can get through to me when I want to shut the world out. You are my voice of reason. You are the reason I get up in the mornings. You are the one that I see beside me when I picture my life as a romcom. You are my god-given solace. I want forever with you, beautiful, and ever after, if that it’s okay with you.”
Derek had held his breath through the entire speech. It was something that he had rehearsed and imagined and dreamed of for years. However, the words that had come out of his mouth were not the ones that he had planned. Yet, it still felt right. He waited for Penelope’s answer, too scared to look at her again. The silence was momentary and unbearable.
“I want forever with you too. Derek Morgan you are it for me. I saw you all those years ago, and even then, I knew that you would someday mean everything to me. It’s you that got me through countless cases. It’s the thought of you that helps me sleep and wake up each morning. It’s you that helps me shine that much brighter on the world each day.”
The weight of the world had been lifted off of their shoulders. Happy tears flowed from each of their eyes. Penelope could think of nothing but to bring her hand up to Derek’s chin, gently tilting it down to press a gentle kiss against his lips.
That night turned out not to be just another night hanging out. Penelope and Morgan had found their soulmates, or rather, in the words of a wise Derek Morgan “god-given solace”.

A/N: I kinda got carried away at the end and went a little of track a bit but I kinda liked it so i’m leaving it there. Also if you ever want any type of request, remember my inbox and my messages are always there !💞
Enjoy loves !!!
As of recently, I have been insanely horny. I have no clue why either, me and my boyfriend-Elijah-have a good sex life. We have it every night before bed and it was good, but I wasn't getting that adrenaline like I used to when we first met. I like the rush of adrenaline that shoots through me when we do it in public-the thought of someone catching us-or when he was angry and we had really rough sex or even when he was feeling a bit wild and experimenting toys on me.
It's not that I don't enjoy it, I do a lot but I need that rush at times...it's like a bad craving.
So I came up with an idea, to persuade Elijah into having sex with me....in public.
He was sitting in the living room at the minute with Klaus...both reading. Thinking about fucking him in front of Klaus without him even batting an eyelash because of lack of knowledge, massively excited me.
I got undressed a little and made sure I was of teasing ability.
The skirt of the night gown tickling my mid thigh as I walked down the stairs. I walked through the archway and eyed Elijah sitting in his armchair and smiled. I ignored Klaus stares and walked straight over to the chair, I straddled his lap. He managed to pry his eyes away from the book he was reading and look at me.
I smiled down at him and he smiled back u till he realised that was I was wearing next to nothing. He sat forward holding my waist to make sure I didn't fall of his lap. He took his jacket off and hung it on the back of chair replacing the grey blanket, which he unfolded and wrapped around me.
He must of thought, I just wanted to cuddle because he let my head fall on his chest and he went back to reading. Little did he know I had a plan, I saw he was focused on his book. I used my hand to rub his thigh and travel closer to his clothed member. He coughed a little and looked down at me.
"Y/N, beautiful what are you doing ?"
"What do you mean ? I'm not doing anything baby."
He chuckled and focused on his reading again. I smiled and carried on my actions only this time I wanted to go further. My hand found the buckle of his belt and undid it, he chuckled again as I followed my actions with me unzipping his trousers and popping the button.
Finding the waist band of his boxers, I moved them so I could grab his cock and mess around a little. I played with the tip a little but because of the the lack of dampness I pretended to cough so I could spit on my hand. I used it to wet his cock and continue to jerk him off, I heard his breathing get heavier and I smiled. His grip on his book tightened. I went a little faster until his orgasm neared and I stopped, I heard his growl and I giggled.
I sat up a bit and held his neck.
"What's wrong Lijah ?"
"Are you bored Y/N ? Is this why ?"
I giggled and shrugged a little.
"A little but I also missed you."
I turned my head seeing that Kol just walked in as well, the adrenaline boosting massively, knowing that if I go ahead with my whole plan it would be risky because of the audience. Especially with vamp hearing.
I kissed him passionately.
"Y/N you look positively darling in your night wear."
I turned to look at him narrowing my eyes.
"He says whilst i'm sitting on my husbands lap."
Everyone chuckled except Elijah. I knew why not only was it Kol's compliment but it was because he needed release.
"Fair enough."
He opened his book and began reading and I looked at Klaus who had put on some Puccini and started painting again. I was glad he decided on putting music on.
I looked back at Elijah and mouthed a sentence to him.
"Be quiet handsome."
He nodded and put his book to the side grabbing my hips. I leaned in to kiss him lovingly and I lifted myself up and double checked the audience behind me weren't looking. As soon as I knew it was safe, he moved my pants to the side and I sunk down on him and we both struggled to keep in the noise.
I relished in the pleasure I felt with him inside of me. I raised and sunk down on him continuously, again struggling to keep my moans in. It was bad enough I was fucking my husband in front of his younger brothers, if they knew what was happening i'm not sure they'd be laughing about it. At this moment the pleasure I felt from my husband fucking me was so surreal, I couldn't force myself to care about anything else.
I let out a small moan and I knew from then that i'd given it away.
"Y/N, are you okay ?"
If only they knew what we were really doing.
"I'm fine Kol, I just bent my finger the wrong way."
"Right okay."
He went back to reading again and I went back to what I was doing. I sunk down again and he started the throb inside of me causing me to let out another moan...this time louder.
"Okay seriously Y/N, what's wrong ?"
I couldn't find it in me to reply, I just kept going knowing it was risky but I could care less.
"Hang on your not...Y/N Mikaelson I thought you were an innocent girl."
Hayley and Rebekah walked in. Hayley replied to Kol's statement.
"Can't believe you thought she was innocent. Why say it now though ?"
Klaus started to laugh and replied.
"She is making love to my older brother right in front of me."
It turned me on more the fact that they all knew. So why not make it more visible.
I continued my actions more viciously. I began to make more noise.
"I didn't think Elijah was this wild when it came down to the deed.
I released everywhere because of him rubbing my clit rapidly. So he returned the favour by cumming in me.
"Fuck Elijah !"
Klaus and Kol gasped and spoke in time.
"She swears ?!"
The girls giggled and spoke in time also.
"All the time."
I kissed Elijah and started laughing with him. I positioned my pants back to normal. I made sure Elijah was decent and cleaned up before getting up and throwing the blanket at the boys and spoke to them.
"You clearly don't know your sister in law very well, gentlemen.
They shrugged and Klaus laughed and spoke.
"Clearly not. Elijah's got himself the perfect wife."
"Well, I mean I don't like to brag but why else do you think I married her."
"I am pretty good in bed, he's a lucky man."
Klaus then spoke up.
"Well, your not lying about being good in bed."
Everyone looked at him shocked at what he said and my eyes just widened.
"Klaus ?! Shut up."
He chuckled.
"I mean, not that I want to but I fully agree with Klaus."
I face planted at what Hayley said.
"Hayls, you promised me and Bex that you wouldn't tell anyone about that."
Kol then shook his head confused.
"So everyone in the room has had sex with Y/N except me."
I looked around and then back at Kol and shrugged.
"Yeah."
"Well, can we make it so we all have ?"
"Kol ! I'm married to your brother ! No."
"But it's not fair!"
"I don't care."
"Plea-"
"Not happening."
I looked at Elijah, who was standing here shocked.
"My brother and my sister ?"
"Klaus was my first time and Rebekah and Hayley were just a drunken best friend thing. It was before we were ever together I promise."
"Okay. Well, just so everyone knows Y/N is my wife. So, seconds is impossible. To make sure that is clear, I'm going to spend all night proving it to you all."
I giggled when he sped me upstairs and began our night.

Hello again, I did not think through what I sent before. I am a very big fan of social worker and Paz and I am very excited for when you show the world your creation
Thank you so much for the request T!!! I’m gonna write a little drabble for you and it’s sort of including what I have planned for the series.. I hope you like it 🥺🥺
first “I love you” // chosen family series
Paz wasn’t sure what to expect when he saw you out there with all the other protesters- he knew you’d done this before, when the Empire had its way with everything- but he never knew that this was what you did, stand in the front lines.
You were there- and then you weren’t. The girl that you’d pushed out of the way seemed to be safe but it looked like she was reaching for something. Paz tried to follow to where she was pointing and then he saw you again, only he was filled with more worry.
There you were, practically fallen onto yourself and he couldn’t tell if you were moving. You had to move.
Paz tried to make his way to the front, to you. Only it seemed for once that his hulking form had him at a disadvantage. It felt like ages had passed, his eyes stuck on you the whole time as he fought against the tide of people, and he was about to break through... only to feel someone holding him back- Cara.
“You can’t go past them Paz,” Cara tried with all her might to keep him still.
“I need to get to her,” he kept on shaking his arm but Cara was a leech.
Her eyes went from Paz to you and then back to Paz, “you go up there and they’ll take that as an excuse to arrest you, and she’ll kill me if that happens.”
“I don’t care,” his voice turned gruff as he practically yelled at Cara.
The only thing running through his mind was you. He needed you- he needed to tell you how sorry he was, how he messed everything up and it was on him, how he loved you. Paz stood there, he didn’t just love you, he was in love with you- and he needed you to know that.
Everything else became a blur. Someone threw something. The chain was broken. There was fighting. You. He needed to get to you.
There you were. At first it seemed as though you hadn’t moved an inch and Paz felt as though his whole world was crumbling before his very eyes- and then he saw it. A simple twitch of the finger, the tightening of your legs as you made yourself smaller and smaller.
And then you felt something over you. A hot breath hit your ear, and yet with all the rage and pain around you, the only thing you felt was the gentleness with which the person treated you.
It took you a second but you heard words being directed at you, “It’s okay, cyare. I’m so sorry. I’m not gonna let anyone hurt you anymore.”
The words went on and on in a cycle. You knew that voice- “Paz?” You asked in a hoarse whisper.
“It’s me, cyare,” you felt his calloused hands cup your face tenderly as he moved it so that you could look up at him, “Are you hurting anywhere?”
“Everywhere,” you grunted as Paz’s fingers glided over the spot where you’d been electrocuted.
The pain was becoming too much, too unbearable. Paz could see it in the way your eyes constantly fluttered shut only for you to try and open them again, you breath become shallower, your body trembling.
“Cyare,” he went back to looking down at your face, “I need you to stay awake for me, please. I know it hurts-“ his hands petted your hair softly as he wished he could take it all away “I know, but I need you awake right now, okay?” His voice had gotten softer and softer and yet somehow you heard it clear as day.
“I wasn’t planning on telling you this now but I need you to listen to me cyare,” you felt Paz shake you slightly and you opened up your eyes just a bit more, “I love you. Okay? I was a di’kut for hurting you the way I did, and I wish I could take all the pain away from you now... but I can’t. So please just keep those beautiful eyes of yours open for me, my love.”
You somehow got yourself to nod your head and then lifted your hand up enough to rest it over Paz’s before squeezing as hard as you could. You couldn’t speak- even though you wished you could- and you needed him to know that you were saying I love you too.

It wasn’t long before the morning light began to shine through Y/N’s family home. While old, it still stood perfectly as the day her great grandparents bought it, thanks to some help of magic. Y/N walked through the halls, taking in photos she hadn’t seen in several years. The darkness that clouded each one made her heart hurt. She was glad they had been able to save Henrik from having an Awakening.
Where she once wanted this place to be her home for the family she would have, Y/N no longer could see it that way. It was a place that held darker memories of the world she didn’t want her son to grow up in. And after today, she’d watch it burn once she was done using the old basement.
Out of all the places Y/N could have taken Hayley, her darker side reminded her that her parents had magically sealed basement. Her parents used the basement for training sessions with black magic. Y/N remembered hating those trainings. But because she had Awakened, the magic within her called to her, and she gave into them.
As she entered the basement, her eyes immediately landed on Hayley. Y/N had her bound and sealed within a circle. The circle taking away any strength the hybrid had within her. A hint of a smirk pulled at her lips at hearing Hayley stir.
“She’s awake.” Y/N said as she stepped closer to the circle. “For a Hybrid it sure does take you quite sometime to come back from the dead.”
The more Hayley gained consciousness, the more Y/N couldn’t wait to get things started. From the moment Y/N had snapped her fingers in the ruins, she’d been waiting for this. There was so many things she wished to convey to Hayley the moment she could. The darkness within her like a devil on her shoulder egging her on.
Hayley took in her surroundings and began to struggle against the binds that held her down to the chair. Her eyes landed on Y/N and shook her head. “You don’t have to do this.”
For the most part, Y/N looked normal to Hayley. The only difference was the black veins that had taken residency on her skin. While faded in comparison to last night, Hayley hoped that Y/N had calmed down since then.
In Hayley’s mind, she thought she could talk it over with the woman standing before her. While Hayley would have done the same thing if the situation was reversed, talking Y/N out of the mess she was in was her only option. She could feel the way the magic that surrounded her kept her in her seat, preventing her from being free the moment she woke.
Y/N saw the fire in Hayley’s eyes just as she had so many times they had worked together before things changed. That fire is what Y/N intended to put out. If it wasn’t for Hayley, there were plenty of things that would have gone differently and Y/N wanted to make that crystal clear.
“I don’t have to.” Y/N said with a shrug of her shoulders. “But then I wouldn’t be keeping the promise I made to my son, or me. Backing out now while we are just moments from starting seems like a complete waste of time. And I’d rather not waste it.”
“Hope is coming today.” Hayley said hoping that will register something within Y/N. “When she gets here and see that I’m no where to be found, she’ll come looking. I want to be there when she comes to visit.”
Y/N scoffed. “And I’d love to be enjoying my son’s birthday breakfast right now.” Her eyes flickered from Y/E/C to black as she stepped within the circle. “It’s because of you that I don’t get that chance. Hell, it’s because of you that a lot of things happened and I’ve been so looking forward to doing this.”
“Think of Henrik.” Hayley said as she watched Y/N approach. “Whatever it is that you are planning will only make it so you can’t see your son for longer.”
Anger coursed through Y/N prompting her to slap Hayley across the face. “I plan on seeing my son today. I found a way out of my mess. But you,” She chuckled as she began to circle around Hayley. “You just keep digging yourself a bigger hole to lie in. So many things could have been avoided if you had just left things alone.”
“If you are going to kill me, you might as well get it over with.” Hayley said as she watched Y/N circle around the chair.
Y/N chuckled as she came to a stop right behind Hayley. “Killing you would be too easy. As much as every fiber is telling me to take the life out of you, there is something else you are deserving of.” Y/N placed her hands on Hayley’s head. “It’s going to be torment from the inside out.”
Hayley attempted to move her head out of Y/N’s grasp. But no matter how many times she tried, Y/N’s tightened on her head. A spell passed the witch’s lips as she held onto Hayley’s head. The moment Y/N heard Hayley’s gasp, she removed her hands, a devilish smirk pulling at her lips.
_____
The mouth watering aroma of Henrik’s breakfast that awaited him downstairs had finally reached Henrik as he slept in Elijah’s room. The smell caused Henrik’s stomach to growl, waking him from a peaceful sleep. Getting up out of the bed, he slowly made his way out of the room.
After everyone had come back the compound the night before, the Mikaelsons had celebrated with Henrik. Even in the late hours of the night they sat around with each other, even after Henrik had fallen asleep right next to Elijah. Not wanting Henrik to possibly wake up alone in his room, he opted for taking Henrik to his.
Even after Elijah had put Henrik to bed, the adults spent time thinking of something special to do for Henrik. Y/N and Elijah had spoken about a large breakfast for Henrik. They discussed making Henrik’s birthday the most memorable. But now, things were different with Y/N not being able to be with them. Elijah still had every intention of making sure that until Y/N could come and see him, it would be the best birthday for Henrik.
As Henrik came down the stairs, Elijah walked out of the dinning room, expecting to go and wake his son. A smile pulled at Elijah’s lips as he watched him. “I was just about to wake you.”
“I smell my breakfast!” Henrik said as he picked up his pace a bit. The moment he reached ground level, he walked over to Elijah. “Is momma here?”
Elijah’s face fell at his son’s words and shook his head. “Not yet. But like she promised, she left you something.” Elijah tilted his head towards the dining room.
Excited for his mother’s gift, Henrik ran into the dinning room. He found a box wrapped in green paper with a gold bow sitting on top of it sitting on the table, right next the enormous pile of food. His eyes went wide at the display in front of him.
“Is this all for me?” Henrik asked as he heard Elijah walk in behind him.
Elijah chuckled. “While it is for your birthday, there are several others that will be joining us. Your cousin Hope will be joining us shortly. She just needed to stop by her mother’s house.”
Henrik’s face fell at that. He wanted to see his own mother. He wanted her to be here with him instead of her being elsewhere.  And while he had nothing against Hope, there was the fact that Hayley had taken him and handed him over to his cousin. He didn’t like that Hayley got to spend time with her daughter.
“Dad!” Hope’s voice carried in through the doors.
At the sound of her voice, both Henrik and Elijah walked back out into the courtyard. As they did, they found Hope and Jackson standing in the courtyard. Hope saw them, her eyes worried.
“Have you seen mom?” She asked Elijah.
Elijah shook his head. “No. I haven’t. I had expected her to be at home after last nights incident.” His voice didn’t hold back the venom.
“What happened last night?” Jackson asked.
“Hayley made a deal with Y/n’s cousin. In the process she kidnapped Henrik and handed him over.” Klaus said as he entered the room. “She had been warned to stay away from Henrik but seeing as we went through last night’s events your mother didn’t listen.”
Jackson sighed and shook his head. “I tried to convince her not to let that witch get to her head.”
“What witch?” Hope asked as she looked over at her stepdad. “Why would mom put a child in harm like that?”
“I was hoping she’d provide those answers once she comes out of hiding.” Elijah knew that Hayley would want to stay out of their way for now. Even with Henrik safe as he was, things weren’t about to change because of that. Elijah wanted answers, and he was going to get them the first chance he got.
The whole time the others spoke, Henrik listened to them. As he listened, he remembered right before his mom came into the ruins. “She didn’t leave before momma’s spell went up.”
The others stopped their conversation and looked to the boy. “What was that?” Elijah asked.
“Hayley was in the barrier momma put up.” He said as he looked up at them.
Elijah racked his brain thinking of any moment that he may have seen Hayley last night. But his main focus had been Henrik and Y/N. He couldn’t be sure if she had gotten out at some point.
“The barrier was up until we left.” Elijah shook his head. “She must have left after we had.”
“Where’s Y/N?” Jackson asked. “If she had found Hayley-”
“She wouldn’t.” Elijah said cutting him off. “She wouldn’t risk making things worse to prevent her from seeing Henrik. I’ll call Y/N and see if she has seen Hayley.”
“Uncle Elijah,” Hope said looking over at him. “Would she hurt mom for what she did?”
Elijah looked over at his niece. He could see the worry in her eyes, and he didn’t know how to answer her. “Y/N let in the darkness to ensure Henrik’s safety last night. She mentioned going to the hotel to cleanse herself in order to be here for Henrik. I don’t believe she would go after your mother. She’d wait until your mom showed up.”
“There’s only one way to find out.” Hope said with a nod.
____
Hayley’s cries of pain echoed through the basement as Y/N stood at a table off to the side. The spell Y/N cast over Hayley would ensure Hayley would be tormented the way she liked. Every memory that had to do with Henrik had been twisted to ensure Hayley would stay away from her son. Every memory that envolved Y/N on the other hand, she twisted them to make the woman fear her.
Y/N didn’t physically have to lay a hand on her after the spell. It made it easier for her to get ready for the cleansing spell she was about to do. The part of Y/N that wasn’t clouded in darkness wouldn’t have gone through with this after her cleansing.
“I get it!” Hayley cried. “I hurt you in so many ways, for that I’m sorry. Please just make this stop.”
Y/N ignored her cries as she mixed ingredients within a wooden bowl. “Once it’s started, it won’t stop until its fulfilled its purpose.” Y/N said as she continued to add things into the bowl. “It’s interesting on the thing you’ll say now when this could have all been prevented.” Y/N looked over her shoulder at Hayley. “While I can’t entirely blame you for the affair with Elijah, there is so much more that I hope this spell sets into your mind how wrong you were. My son could have had a life with his father if you hadn’t thrown out the letters.”
Turning back towards the bowl as another pained cry left Hayley, Y/N waved her hand above the mixture, a small spell leaving her lips. The mixture in the bowl changed from dry indigents to a liquid. Lifting the bowl up to her lips, Y/N drank the liquid. A disgusted look formed at her face as she drank it. The one things about some spells, they never taste great.
A moment later, Y/N’s eyes shot to black on their own. Her hand grabbed for the glass orb that had been on the table, bringing it between both of her hands. With the help of another spell, the darkness that had been within Y/N began seeping into the orb.
Her body fought the darkness leaving her. A clensing spell such as this one had never been done on someone that had gone through an awakening. The longer she held on to the orb, the more pain radiated through her body as it fought to keep the darkness there. A gasp left her lips as she finally felt a release from it.
Her hands dropped the orb on the table as she grabbed a hold of it to keep her steady. She pulled the very thing out of her that would have destroyed her family. The very thing that had kept her from spending some time with Henrik this morning. And if this worked, she’d be able to see him in a bit.
As she regained her strength, she noticed she hadn’t heard Hayley anymore. Turning to face her, Y/N could see that Hayley’s head was hanging. The slight whimpers that came from the woman reached Y/N’s ears. The spell had come to an end. All the damage done.
Walking over to the circle, Y/N broke it. The moment she had, Hayley was up and out of her seat. Grabbing Y/N by her throat she had her pinned against the wall. It had caused Y/N to chuckle.
“I should kill you.” Hayley said as she bared her fangs.
“Go ahead.” Y/N said keeping her eyes on Hayley’s. “They’ll see you killed me. But they’d never know I got to you first. And that would be the last straw for your mind before it shatters. So I’d be careful. Call it a safety measure on my end.”
That fire Y/N had seen in Hayley’s eyes earlier had been dimmed in comparison. It was barely lit and Y/N could easily snuff it out the moment Hayley moved against her. One simple disapproval from the Mikaelsons would break Hayley in the very way that Y/N wanted her to be.
Y/N could see Hayley thinking it over before letting her go. Without so much as another word between them, Hayley was gone in ablink of an eye. It letting out a sigh of relief, as long as Hayley kept her distance, this was finally over.
_____
The sound of someone knocking on the door had caught Y/N suprise as she grabbed her things to leave. Placing her bag down on the sheet covered couch, Y/N went to answer the door. Seeing Elijah on the other side of it had surprised her even more.
“What are you doing here?” She asked. “Is Henrik okay?”
Elijah nodded his head. “Henrik’s fine. I actually came for another reason.”
“What other reason is there for leaving our son on his birthday?” Y/N questioned.
“For one, you never checked into Hotel.” There was a look of concern on his face for only a moment. “I figured this would have been the second place you would have been. Secondly, Hope and Jackson were wondering why Hayley hadn’t come home last night.”
Y/N scoffed. “Hayley left about a half hour ago. I think it's safe to say that we worked out our issues with each other.”
“If there as so much as a scratch-”
“You’re still defending her?” Y/N said cutting him off. “After everything, you still want to protect her? Do you really care for her that much, Elijah?”
Elijah looked away from Y/N for only a second before looking back at her. “If Hope were to see her mother harmed in any way, she wouldn’t take kindly to you.”
Y/N shook her head in disbelief. “Hayley doesn’t have a scratch on her. Now I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.”
Elijah’s eyes widened in shock at her words. “Y/N-”
“Don’t, Elijah.” Y/N began. “Its pretty clear from my side where things lie. I’ll be over to spend the rest of the day with Henrik for his birthday, and then I’ll bring him home here.”
“Here?” Elijah questioned. “In the very place you swore you’d never raise your child?”
A huff passed her lips. “It has been cleansed. I was thinking about burning it. But then I realized Henrik and I wouldn’t have a place to stay. Given my feelings about recent events, I can’t stay at the compound.”
“You don’t have to leave.” Elijah shook his head.
“I do have to. Henrik needs both of his parents to be civil with each other. Staying in the compound will change that.” She said with a nod of her head.
Elijah nodded his head in understanding. “We’ll be waiting. Henrik has yet to open your gift, he’s been waiting for you to come and watch him open it.”
“I’ll be there soon.” She promised.  Without another word from Elijah, he was gone.
Laughter filled the courtyard from the adults who had been talking and entertaining Henrik. He was growing anxious over his mother’s arrival. They all hoped that Henrik would be able to spend the rest of his birthday with his mother present. But it all fell on Henrik if that was allowed or not.
Henrik had been opening a few of the gifts his family had gave him. He had been half way through unwrapping a gift from Klaus when he stopped. His eyes went wide as he tossed the gift to the side of him and got out of his seat.
The adults were confused as he had done so until they looked in the direction Henrik had been running to. Standing just past the doorway was Y/N. There was a smile on her face as she saw Henrik light up at seeing here.
“Momma!” He called out as ran over to her. Y/N crouched down and opened her arms for him. The moment he was in her arms, Y/N hugged him tightly, not wanting to let him go.
“Happy birthday, my sweet boy.” She said softly as she ran her hand up his back. Relief washed through her the longer she held on to him. Her cleansing spell had worked.
“Your good momma.” Henrik said as he held on to her tightly causing a small sob to pass Y/n’s lips as she teared up.
“No more darkness.” She promised.
The words had brought a smile to Henrik’s face. He wasn’t going to leave her side anytime soon. His comfort has always been Y/N and the comfort he felt in her arms was all he needed.
As they held on to each other, Y/N’s eyes looked to the others. There were smiles on their faces as they watched the interaction between the two. There was no greater bond than that of a mother and son like these two.
Kissing the side of Henrik’s head, Y/N patted his back. “You should go finish opening your gifts.” She said as she pulled away from the hug. “And then we can talk about staying in New Orleans.”
“We’re staying?!” The excitement in his voice as he looked at his mother had caused Y/N to smile.
She brushed a few strands of hair out of his face with her fingers. “We’re staying. I cleansed the old family home. And as long as it feels okay to you, we’ll stay there.”
Henrik’s face fell at that. “Not here with dad?”
Y/N’s eyes shifted from Henrik to Elijah and back before sighing. “I can’t stay here, my love. But I’m sure your dad would agree that you’d be welcome to stay here any time you’d like.”
Elijah walked over to them and crouched down beside Y/N. “Your mother is right. You will be welcome to stay here any time you’d like. Between us though,” He looked over at Y/N. “We believe it will be better for the three of us, if your mom and I live in different homes.”
“We’re right down the street.” Y/N assured Henrik. “I will never keep you from coming over and seeing your dad.” She promised as she ran her hand along his cheek. “We’ll make it through this.”
“Okay.” Henrik said with a nod of his head. While he prefered if both of his parents stayed under the same roof while he got to know his dad, he understood that not all things could happen that way.
“Now lets go open presents.” Y/N said giving him a smile. At that, Henrik ran back to towards the couch he had been sitting in.
As she and Elijah stood, there was a part of her that believed this was wrong. “We are doing the right thing.” She said out loud. More to herself than to Elijah as a reassurance. “We are.” Elijah nodded as he grabbed a hold of her hand and squeezed it before letting it go. “As you said, we are right down the street from each other if he ever needs anything.” With that, Elijah began walking back over to the others.
A sigh of relief passed her lips as she began following Elijah. This was going to work. They’d make this work. Y/N couldn’t see her son growing up without the family that was currently surrounding him. And what ever dangers may lurk in the future, they’d be there to help each other out.
It was a new start. While it still held many complications, they’d get through them, as a family.
Back in the Y/L/N home, down in the basement, the glass orb was now sitting locked within a glass shelf. Sitting on a stand, the magic with in the orb moved erratically, searching for a way out, searching for a way back to its host. As it moved with in, a very small crack emerged along the glass. Indicating that the magic held with in it was way too strong to be contained.
