I'm not sure where I read it - I think it was on the wikipedia page of that trans doctor from the 1920s, but I don't remember his name - but basically, it was talking about this trans man's experience being trans in the early 20th century, and his family's reaction. And it made a point of saying how his grandparents were entirely supportive and even wrote him as their grandson on their gravestones. And there's a similar story for a trans girl, also in a similar time period I believe, where her family took her to a doctor when she started Being Trans and the doctor's reaction was literally "Okay, she says she's a girl? Then treat her like a girl! Buy her dresses and call her by whatever name she wants!" and they did!!
Obviously transphobia still existed back then, and it was strong. But throughout time, there have been cases where people heard their loved one say "I am not that gender, that doesn't fit me," and their love and trust in that person overrode any prejudice or lack of understanding, and they just accepted them. Whether it's a doctor encouraging parents to treat their little girl like a little girl, or grandparents marking their grandson's gender in stone (even when, if I remember correctly, his parents had doubts), trans people have always had people who cared for us and believed us and supported us, despite what the rest of society might have said.
UPDATE: IT WAS ALAN L. HART, from his wikipedia page:
Hart wrote later, in 1911, of his happiness during this time, when he was free to present as male, playing with boys' toys made for him by his grandfather. His parents and grandparents largely accepted and supported his gender expression, though his mother described his "desire to be a boy" as "foolish." His grandparents' obituaries, from 1921 and 1924, both list Hart as a grandson.

mads mikkelson is refusing to condemn jk rowling just because he’s on her payroll now. like this interview is so obnoxious and it just turns into him complaining about how both sides need to be nicer and “everything is political now”
he even implies that people don’t know what they’re talking about... but also admits he didn’t read what she said, so he can’t comment on it. like...... my dude....... if you can’t comment, don’t fucking “both sides” transmisogyny
and i know since he’s been elected tumblr’s decrepit man of the year people will let it slide or be like “well at least he didn’t defend her” but just because he didn’t aggressively say he’s right doesn’t mean he didn’t passively say ‘well at least let her use her platform to say it”

maybe i'm taking this too deep or too literally but i find it very sad and ironic that in an industry that is currently dominated by multi-million dollar spectacles of violence-for-entertainment (bankrolled by the us military, the most prolific murderers in the world), will smith is being condemned for smacking a man in defense of his wife- even though that man was clearly not seriously injured and the smack in question served its purpose: will smith drew a clear boundary that i doubt another comedian will cross again.
there's a false boundary between the violence of words (misogynoir and its impacts) and the violence of actions even when jada smith likely felt that joke harder than will smith could ever slap a man. it's ridiculous that an industry whose backbone is monetized displays of violence-for-entertainment cannot cope with a lukewarm slap (or, more accurately, violence is fun when it's blowing up 'terrorists' on screen but disgusting when it's a black man protecting his black wife's respect and emotional wellbeing and refusing to let her be the next twitter hashtag)

thinking about yuri briar.
Ik that some ppl mostly think that he has incestuous feelings for yor but like?? I think he is just overly attached to yor.
remember that the main reason why yor needed a fake boyfriend was because yuri asked her if she had one and he would have a peace of mind if she had a lover that was to his standard.
Then he found out that his sister is MARRIED for a YEAR from a friend WITHOUT HIM KNOWING AND HER NOT TELLING HIM.
He knows that Yor can be airheaded at times, and he's afraid that the reason why Yor never spoke about it is because her husband might be shit. He let Loid go currently because he doesnt have evidence to suspect him as of the moment.
Also, consider that in his point of view, his sister worked herself BLOODY to raise him, give him what he needs, buy him books and necessities. His sister is his only family and her safety is why he joined the secret police in the first place.
And Yor mentioned that he loves being praised by her. I think his conflict with Yor's marriage is because of the supposedly one year gap that she never told him that she's married. In his chapter he had to deal with a man who cheated on his wife and fooled around with women, ofc hes afraid of that happening to his sister. He values family above anything. He pretty much reverts to his childish self around her (with his line of work he probably feels safest around her).
He's not even hostile to any men that Yor knows, just this stranger who is married to his sister. Aside from the fiasco in his first chapter he doesn't even invade Yor's space and tries not to be a burden as much as possible because he genuinely wants her to start living for herself and be happy. He wanted to wiretap their room to find evidence to implicate Loid but backtracked because he doesn't want to hear his sister's sexual life.
Also, he doesnt really attempt to sabotage Yor and Loid's relationship, he's probably still suspecting Loid because come on, he never got to know Loid and suddenly this man he never knew is married to his only family. He literally doesnt trust Loid. Except for the first chapter where he is reasonably vocal about his suspicions he never (atleast as i remember) really spoke about his thoughts abt it again except in front of his boss.
(edit: he even says it himself!)
Moreover, he doesnt want Yor sacrificing herself so much for him, I believe thats why he lives independently from her so she couldve find happiness for herself without her needing to worry about him.
So yeah, Yuri wants to make the country a safe place for Yor. His hatred towards Loid until now is still reasonable because of the circumstances surrounding the marriage. He has huge attachment to his only family left that he grew up thinking had continuously worked herself bloody to raise him because they were in poverty.
