“It’s been six months, and you’re still afraid to tell her what you want?” Isagi said, astonished at the taller male’s way of going about this. 

“I’m not afraid of anything, dumbass.”

“Then why don’t you tell her already?”

For the past six months, Rin had been pursuing his feelings for you. But has he gotten anywhere yet? Nope. And was it his fault? Absolutely. 

Itoshi Rin was helpless, there was no doubt about it.

Anyone could see you felt the same way about him- hell, everyone has seen it. The way you swooned whenever he brushed his hand against yours, complimented you, or just looked at you. It was clear beyond a shadow of a doubt you shared romantic feelings for the younger Itoshi. 

Rin knew it too, deep down at least. So why has he been taking his sweet time confessing? Avoiding it at all costs? It was simple really, Rin was scared.

“What if she thinks I’m insane?” He said flatly, putting his cleats back in his bag before exiting the locker room. 

“Dude, if she thinks you’re insane for waiting so long, then that just makes her a hypocrite.” Isagi’s words were harsh yet true. You’ve both been going in circles for one another, waiting for the other to open an opportunity to declare their feelings.

Nonetheless, neither you nor Rin took the opportunities when they were presented. Leading to his current position, annoyed and confused with himself. Why was this so hard for him?

With a deep breath, Rin asked for a favor he never thought he’d ask any of his teammates. “I need advice.”

Isagi was stunned, not even he could see that one coming. He was more curious about why Rin thought he had that much experience with women, but that's besides the point. 

“I got it!” A louder, higher pitched voice came from around the corner. “Bachira?”

“Just tell her! Say you waited so long because you were testing her loyalty!” For once the boy was dressed in the locker room, but it didn’t change the fact he was giving horrible advice. “Rin, never say that. Use the word ‘test’ and she’ll shut you out.” Isagi clarified. 

“I don’t need your advice, bobcut.” 

“What about mine? I have an older sister, so I’ve heard a thing or two.” Another voice added himself to the conversation, an unreadable expression plastered on his face. 

“Because a princess knows what other princesses like…” Isagi mumbled to himself, a little confused on where Chigiri came from. Before Bachira popped in, he was sure he and Rin were the only ones in the locker room. 

“I’d take yours over bobcut’s anyday… what do you have to say.” Rin looked in Chigiri’s direction, awaiting his response.

“Just tell her you like her. I mean, it’s clear she likes you back. But if she needed time or anything like that, say you would wait as long as you had to.” Chigiri’s advice was simple and straight to the point, something Rin should have been thinking from the beginning.

“And tell her if you ever did something wrong, you’d fix it right away. Girls like that sort of reassurance… I think.” An orange haired muscle man appeared from behind Chigiri. Apparently, that was Isagi’s last straw. “Where are you all coming from?!” 

“This is the Blue Lock team’s locker room… and we just finished practice? This isn’t your personal hang out spot y’know.” Chigiri cut in, deadpanning at their prized striker. “Anyways, Kunigami also has a good point. Let her know she’ll be okay with you, even if something goes wrong.”

Rin piled all the advice up in his head, organizing it into a sentence he knew he could say. “Right…”

“So, are you gonna do it? Like right now? Today?” Bachira questioned excitedly, face brightening more than it was before.

“It’s none of your guy’s business.” Quite sick of being surrounded by what Rin could only consider ‘lukewarm idiots’, he rose from the bench he was seated on. “I’m leaving.”

“Not even a thank you, seriously?” Chigiri exclaimed as he watched the monotonous boy exit the locker room. Unbeknownst to him, Rin was actually considering thanking him. That is, if everything went smoothly. He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact he was actually doing this, afterall.

Outside of soccer, Rin isn’t exactly the smartest. Sure, he’s good at english. But you might as well factor English in with soccer since that was his only motivation behind understanding it. Though he’s not an idiot. He wasn’t blind to your feelings, the same way you weren’t blind to his.

In short, Rin knew there was no way you’d turn him down. 

The walk felt longer than any other. He had been sure to give you a heads up that he’d be over, so at least he wouldn’t have to wait any longer once he showed up at your door. Then again, that didn’t change the fact he was getting more and more nerve-wracked with each step he took. 

Too lost in his thoughts, RIn didn’t even realize it had started raining by the time he was at your door. And even when he had noticed, he forgot almost immediately once you opened the door. 

“Walking in the rain, seriously?” You deadpanned at the male, who looked unphased by his dripping hair. 

“I didn’t realize.” ‘Shut it’ is what he’d add to that statement if it was anyone else. 

“You didn’t realize it started pouring on your way here?” 

“Just let me in already…” He groaned.

You stepped aside, allowing him to get through the door. He’s lost count of the amount of times he’d been in your home, but somehow it felt different this time. Perhaps it was the rain, making the lights look warmer than before. Or maybe it was because he knew things would be different once he left this time.

“How was practice?” You asked while grabbing a towel for him to dry off with, throwing it in his direction.

He caught it effortlessly, using it to squeeze the water out of his dark strands. “Lukewarm. No one learned anything outside of scoring their own goals.” 

“Same old, I guess…” You mumbled.

It was quiet for a moment, finding peace in each other’s company. The peace alone said a million words, but neither of you said a single one. Until Rin finally spoke up.

“Listen…” He paused briefly, trying to align his words in order to not make a fool of himself. “I have something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” You both said in unison.

“I’m sorry! You go first, Rin.” Somehow, you already had a feeling you were going to say the same thing.

With a deep breath, Rin stopped cowering. “I know you know I like you… and you know I know you like me. So…”

“Do you wanna be my boyfriend? Officially?” You finished his sentence for him, tired of the agonizing wait.

Rin showed a rare smile, a real smile. It wasn’t a grin, but it showed the male’s genuine deep rooted feelings. For once, all his anger and resentment disappeared. 

“I wouldn’t mind that. As long as you wanna be my girlfriend, officially.” He mimicked your words from before, earning a giggle out of you.

“So, do you think anyone will notice a difference?” 

“Difference as in…?”

“Like how we act. Do you think anyone will notice we’re a couple now?” You elaborated.

Ah. Rin had almost forgotten half his team knew what he was doing, and probably the entire team by now. He grimaced at the teasing that was to come tomorrow, annoyed in advance. His expression didn’t go unnoticed by you, however.

“Who knows already…”

“The whole soccer team… probably.”

You both were in for quite a treat tomorrow…

I can only scrape together 3 reasons/excuses for Alastor’s haircut

- covering the sides of his head where human ears used to be because he’s self conscious :,)

- the shape is like a reverse silhouette of his ears: 2 points up, 2 points down. If we count his chin then maybe you go for a crazy conspiracy angle where you overlay a pentagram/satanic goat over his head and the points match up lol “coincidence?! I THINK NOT!!!!” (I don’t agree with this, the mental image is just funny)

- while men didn’t style their hair long in the 20/30s, the slicked back look (and wavy varieties like finger waves etc) did sometimes require (or hide) some length: from the hairline to almost the back of the head at most, held with enough hair product to paralyse a small dog. (Brylcreem/congolene/pomade etc) When you wash that style out, or it comes loose from sweat or rain or falling in a creek, it’s between cheek to chin length around the face. The 20s reverse mullet, party in the front, business in the back. I think there used to be homophobic complaints at the time that women wearing their hair bobbed short and men wearing their hair “long” made (jazz) music halls a DeN oF GaY, claiming they couldn’t tell men and women apart with these hairstyles whilst they were all banging out a charleston or lindy hop or whatever they were doing. I had this hairstyle for over a decade, my dad wouldn’t let me change it, “iTs fRenCh pRoVinCiaL aNd rEminDs mE oF yOur mOthEr” bitch I looked like amelie

Lots of insight! I can still see your last point holding up at least a little bit in the sense that it is more fitting for him to have chin-length hair, or at least grow it out to that point when he got to Hell (he just wanted a fresh look). However, the only "issue" is that: why wouldn't he style his hair? He doesn't really strike me as someone who'd go against gender norms quite honestly. Not out of masculinity, like if he was put into a situation that called for it, I'm sure he'd be fine wearing a dress to some degree (and he'd look good in it. We can all agree he'd look good in it). But more on the prospect that "gentlemen don't do that". I can see him both as someone who would wear a dress and be fine with it, but also someone who would wear a dress and find it demeaning to himself. Obviously Alastor doesn't hold all the old timey values--he wouldn't like Charlie and Vaggie's relationship on them being two woman alone if he did--but I do think he sticks by older etiquette. Like I'm certain he thinks women are capable more than men of his time gave them credit for, but he reads as someone who'd also be like "must take care of the fairer sex, for I am a man and that's what we do". Again, not in a demeaning way he clearly knows women can hold their own. But if a man and a woman got sick, Alastor would tell the man to suck it up and the woman to lay down and rest. That's my personal take though :/

I will admit that I didn't think about the reverse silhouette thing! Nice eyes on that one! Say what you will with Viv's character designs, but they all have fairly strong silhouettes. You see a character with blacked-out details, and you're more than likely able to tell who it is. And maybe that's Viv's design process, she prioritizes a silhouette over tiny designs that could give info about a character. A nice silhouette can ideally still give a bit of info about a character (like how rounder characters are seen as more welcoming) and that's where I do have to mark Viv some points down as when you take two totally opposite characters--Alastor and Angel Dust--they have the same "tall & sharp" that doesn't indicate a difference in who the character might be. There's not a varied shape language in this show, and shape language is very big for character design, especially on the cartoon front! Which, shape language wise a lot of the characters have similar shape language. But I give credit that there IS more (like Charlie is round with her braids, which helps give a more welcoming silhouette. Vaggie is a bit squared with her hair, giving an indication of being strong and stable). I do think for the most part, a lot of them do just come down to being "thin and sharp", but the silhouettes themselves ARE GOOD, I'm not gonna mistake Alastor's silhouette for Angel's. It's just not varied (and for some characters like Husk, it would make since for him to have a more squared portly silhouette compared to the thin twigged silhouette he has. Both because his personality and how his body would look just by what he does: sit around, drink, and gamble. He doesn't seem like a character who would have eating issues, and he doesn't seem active enough to stay as fit as he is).

I digress but yes, the silhouette thing isn't something I thought of, and is a good thought! But he does, as you pointed out, have the pointy chin. It's not parallel to the ears like the bob cut but it would create a triangular layout of his face (ear-to-chin-to-ear). But I can still see it that the bob cus is there for a reverse silhouette thing, even if unneeded.

The ears thing, people have made him with short cuts and he looks fine. Honestly, it's more noticeable when he DOESN'T have short hair since the bob cut moves around, but I get the premise in universe wise. And that's an idea I've seen people mention before. I'm not too sure on it just cuz Alastor was described as a narcissist, so I don't think him lack human ears would get to him that much. ADVERSELY if people like Mimzy kept pointing it out, he more than likely would just want a way to cover it up to get her to shut up about it haha. But I can also see the point of him being sort of "self conscious" about the lack of ears on the side of his head because it's just a reminder that he's taken after a prey animal in Hell. Or even just an animal, he doesn't strike me as the type who'd really like having his features alluding to any sort of animal no matter if it was prey or predator. It being a deer is just salt in the wound at that point.

Oh I definitely thought they were white when i first read the comic back in like 2014, and i still do think they are. They're plenty of instances in the comic where the characters physical traits are mentioned and the way Hussie as drawn them in a more detailed style prove this. Plus didn't he say something once about how he sees the kids as A-racial but they aren't black and and followed it up with "which is very racist of me"? Correct me if im wrong but swear i remember him saying that. But it doesn't matter they're fictional characters draw them as whatever, you can make their skin purple give them a bunch traits or whatever. You do you I'll do me

It was from the formspring when someone asked about if Jade was Asian. Probably because of her eyes being small and buck-tooth, a stereotype people associate with Asians. Which makes the Anon racist. Andrew did say that line though. Likely also in meta sense that all the kids are portrayed as white as seen in comic overworld and not black black or brown black. The very latter which nobody ever or rarely uses even in MSPFAs, even when characters are suppose to have traits that indicated they are black such as curly hairstyle, dreadlocks, or braids. Which the nu-fandom considers are hairstyles only meant for black people only. Whenever people do that with white character sprites overworld, I either think it is someone's OC or a fankid between two characters of a ship. Worse is ones when they only show said different interpretation in HERO MODE moments of the fanventure and not in overworld. At this point, if you are not lazy to draw them full-body with braids, do the same for the overworld. It's jarring to see the regular Rose Lalonde's sprite having smooth bobcut hair in one scene, only for the next panel to show her having curly hair and detailed proportions in the next cause HERO MODE.

But yeah, let people portray whatever they want with the kids. If someone draws them white, that's fine. If someone draws them black, it's fine. If someone draws them Asian, that's fine. If someone makes all the girls blue for Jake's harem, that's fine too.

finally going to make a post expanding on the familiar assignments from this post

again, quick lore summary: everyone is born with a magic seed, they plant this seed when they hit puberty and eventually it grows and blooms into an animal companion (familiar) that they spend the rest of their lives with.

the blooming is generally agreed on to happen when the person 'finds themself' which usually happens in the 16-22 age range but it can be known to happen later or in rare cases, never.

The animal has to be one the person has seen before with their own eyes. zoos and international safari trips are very popular with teens who want to try and get cool animals.

Another note is the 'intelligence' of the familiar relies on how their person treats them. The more human they're treated, the more human they'll act and vice versa. Silvers for example acts eerily human and seems like shes seconds away from speaking english at any moment while Miyagis is indistinguishable from a regular animal from its species.

i'll note down character - familiar - approx. age of acquiring - and reason (if i have one) for all the ones i have figured out below the cut

so. start out with the obvious:

Daniel has a mongoose. specifically a yellow mongoose. he got it after the castle fight in tkk2. Mongoose was obvious for the mongoose vs cobra thing ofc but I also just really associate especially tkk Daniel with a small scrappy animal. If I didn't go with mongoose I think I'd go with something like a weasel or a ferret. Something small and twisty and flippy.

Johnny has a hornet. I think I modelled the one in the drawing after an Asian giant hornet. Something Big. He gets his a lot later, when he's in his mid 20s ish. A little later than Normal but not so late it's strange. I went with a hornet for a few reasons. First, gold and black are so johnnys colours. Second, I wanted him to have something a little Unconventional and bug familiars usually tend to be (but it still had to be something appropriately badass). Hornets can also be solitary but also it isn't weird for them to be in pairs or groups and I felt like that's fitting for Johnny.

Kreese has a prairie falcon. He got it during that brief window right after he enlisted but before he was sent away when he had a Girl and a Purpose and everything seemed to be going his way. I wanted Kreese to have something that appeared unassuming but was a dangerous predator and my wife and I decided on a bird of prey of some kind. We figured during his youth he likely wouldn't have seen too many exotic animals so something native to his general area would be best and we further narrowed down to a prarie falcon from there. They're a fast and highly accurate falcon with rlly good eyesight and the idea of a piercing glare staring down at students along with Kreeses own stony look felt right. (They're also known for hunting snakes <3)

Silver feels like another very obvious one, he has a King Cobra. Clearly the model for the cobra kai logo <3. He got his after they returned from Vietnam, when he started trying on different personalities to see what fit. (This means his was also fairly late). Silver is a lot more slippery and sleek than Kreese and a snake felt much more fitting as his familiar. (He also has less direct Snake Pit Trauma so still thought snakes were cool). As a young adult, his familiar would've been out on show 24/7 but I think as he grows older, he hides her in his clothes or leaves her at home to maintain his image as relaxed and chill philanthropist. Until of course, he's called back to the action.

Amanda has a leopard. She got it in her early years of college, during her bleach blonde self cut bobcut era and according to everyone who knew her at the time, during her "rebellious phase". But whatever she was going through, she mustve known exactly who she was through it. I gave her a leopard because I felt like something big and elegant that could absolutely rip your throat out would be perfect for her and I could also just see her lounging around with it like it's a regular housecat.

Miyagi has a koi fish. He got it during his teen years and carried it in a bowl with him to America when he left Okinawa. He currently keeps it mixed with the regular koi in his koi pond and the only way you could pick it out is the size of it compared to the others. Miyagi having a fish felt right. It's a simple but beautiful creature which I think fit his ideals well. He doesn't treat it as anything special (something a young Daniel finds appalling) but just gives it the respect he would give any living creature in his care.

Bobby gets a ram. His also was post high school, I wanna say midway through his degree. Ram felt right for Bobby for a few reasons. First, the obvious lamb=god=pastor connection. Rams are also notoriously stubborn animals that are aggressive in a fight which is Very Bobby imo. But sheep in general have a reputation for being very gentle creatures and Bobby fits that too.

Dutch my boy Dutch <3 got a gaboon viper. He got it during high school, peak cobra kai era. His senseis were very impressed with his dedication to the dojo. He was one of the first ones I thought of something for. I wanted him to have a snake for sure and a big thick chunky snake like a gaboon viper just felt so right for him. (Note about familiars with venoms and poisons, the toxicity is very diluted. So his snake can still make you feel awful with a bite but it won't kill you)

Tommy gets a hyena. His was also during high school, I feel like he was the first of the gang to get one. Hyenas are a pack animal and Tommy very much feels like One of the pack. He also seems to have a higher pitched laugh which is very hyenacore so it just felt right for him.

Jimmy has a chocolate labrador. I feel like his was post high school but before he started college. Domestic dogs and cats are very common familiars and Jimmy, as much as I love him, is our most basic boy. I've also just made jokes abt dogboy Jimmy since before I made the au so it was a natural fit.

Ali also gets a dog, this time a cinnamon border collie. Hers comes in college, either her first or second year, I haven't fully decided. While she is conforming to the norms by having a dog, she's standing out a little in her family by having a working breed, something highly intelligent and driven, rather than a pretty lapdog thats just for show. She needed something that matched her intelligence and drive and a border collie fit that.

Lucille has a house sparrow. I haven't thought too much about when she got hers but I imagine it was a fairly typical presentation. I wanted to give her something more common and something that was always moving and a sparrow felt right for that. Always flitting around with lots to say.

Chozen gets an Okinawan rail. His familiar doesn't bloom until s3 of cobra kai, after he's reconciled with Daniel. He had resigned himself to a life without one and was very shocked by it.

Now for some more CK era characters

Carmen has a beetle. I haven't figured out specific type yet, I was tossing up between some kind of jewelled beetle or a horned one. She and Johnny initially bond over both having bug familiars (Johnny is used to girls being like ewww a bug) #bugsquad

Miguel gets a jumping spider. I imagine his comes just after his Mexico trip. Even though it was an incredibly messy time in his life, that trip gave him enough closure that the pieces clicked into place. He's Very pleased to join the bug squad. Jumping spider felt like a good match for him, especially with how bouncy he is when he fights.

Robby has a fly. He actually got his fairly young, before the events of the show started. He is Less pleased to be in the bug squad. As a kid he always felt invisible and small like a fly and as he grew he started to embrace that feeling as it helped with his CrimeBoy Antics. We wanted to give Robby something that had a link to Johnny and in a previous au with this setting we had a pickpocket with a beetle familiar who used the familiar to help steal so we reused that concept here bc it worked well.

Samantha gets a crane. I haven't decided exactly when she gets hers but I'm thinking it's sometime during s2/3. She's got somewhat mixed feelings about it due to not wanting to be her dads mini-me but also its nice to have that connection to her grandpa. Cranes I feel combine the elegance of amandas familiar with the iconicness/irony of Daniels and the vibe of it in general just felt like a good fit for Sam.

Eli ofc gets a hawk. Nothing clever about that. He doesn't get it until after winning the tournament though.

Demetri gets a rabbit. His comes around s3/4ish and at first he does Not get it at all but eventually comes to vibe with it. Rabbits are an animal I've associated with Demetri since I got into the fandom and I just feel like it's very fitting for him. Something flighty and unassuming but that Can pack a nasty kick if needed. And I rlly like the idea of Demetri picking up thumping his foot from the rabbit when he's agitated its fun <3

Stingray is another obvious one <3 he gets a stingray. It happens the night after coyote creek. He's Very late to have one bloom but is absolutely ecstatic and is very enthusiastic about the salt water tank he had to set up for it. Please ask him about his salt water tank.

Tory doesn't have one yet. At her point in the story I just haven't felt she's hit that right time but I think she's getting close. I do think however that she has a pet tarantula that she tells people is her familiar to scare them.

Anthony also doesn't have one, he's too young. But I'm getting a bird vibe.

Yasmin has me and my wife Really torn because we want her to have something Unconventional that She thinks is the most beautiful creature in the world and we're leaning towards an Australian animal bc of where she spends half the show which keeps leading us to joking that Yas gets a fucking. Cassowary. And it's so funny

Louie has a raccoon and he puts a little bowtie on it and keeps bringing it into work and getting into trouble for scaring customers.

Anoush has a little otter and he is Allowed to bring him into work and the customers all find him very charming and it makes Louie seethe with jealousy.

Okay. So- I've been reading a lot of Batman X Danny Phantom stuff on this site lately, and I came across a short post that included Batman finding Phantom's grave(it was a corpse au) and mentally comparing Danny to Ace. A girl who wanted to be a child yet who was too powerful and ended up dying with our resident Batdad sitting next to her up until her last moments in a fake world she made for herself in a bid for happiness. (I might be wrong about Ace's personality or motivations cuz I only rly remember Ace because of how she died, so plz bear with me if I'm wrong)

Now, a thing about Ace is that when she died, she was wearing a black/white leotard with a single clover suit on one side. And I've discovered that the Ace of Spades can depressingly enough be represented as death and bad luck.

And so(here's where the DP comes in), I'm introducing a ghost called:

Spade ♤

For her appearance I'm thinking white porcelain like skin for how delicate she felt in her final moments. Maybe inked details all across her like tattoos or like how fancy playing cards have to show how who she WAS wasn't entirely up to her to decide. Her white bobcut hair looks like it was shattered/cut off a larger part and is able to cut those who aren't careful enough, and that there's a crack across the top of her head to showcase as a deathmark that she died from a fatal migraine(maybe?). (The crack doubles as her hairline-) Her eyes being the same rings of yellow and orange(or maybe whatever their inverse counterparts are...) that appeared when she used her powers, but with her black pinprick eyes at the centers. Her actual FACE I'm thinking her eye lashes, lips and eyebrows look painted on in black ink. Cuz, come on. If Danny can hav black eyebrows as Phantom, so can Spade-

Outfit wise, I kinda want to put her in a reverse colored leotard and call it a day, but I ALSO wanna add onto that. Because the thing about her last moments is that Batsy carried her body out of the park where she was staying in her fantasy land in a princess carry, so I'm imagining her in a fancy dress/leotard amalgamation cuz that princess carry might've the last comfort she might've received before her body got buried(or smth along those lines). If this post gets popular, I want art of that leotard/dress amalgamation with playing cards detailing cuz while I draw, I already know I'd butcher the idea 😅

DP plot could just be Danny transversing the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms for one reason or another and coming across this mad hatter, Alice in Wonderland type lair/area(think the world Ace made Gotham into) where after stumbling through everything in it, he just meets this black and white ghost girl sitting on a isolated swing set. There's only two seats on it, and she's just swinging back and forth on one of them. Danny must figure she's waiting on company and maybe just watches for a while. She'd look just like a statue if not for the fact that she just keeps swinging, and swinging, and swinging, and Danny's getting the idea that this is just another lonely ghost in the zone. Peaceful, and wants to be left alone, but maybe could use a friend. So, Danny sits next to her on the other swing.

Tdlr; Spade and Danny become friends after he stumbles across her lair and started showing her other parts of the zone.

Spade's closest friends are Princess Dora, Youngblood, Klempter, Danielle, and other ghosts among her mental age. But of course, she considers her best friend to be the black and white Phantom who got her out of her lair and living a better afterlife. She wants to pay him back, and sees how badly his afterlife has been treating him (wait- he's not entirely dead?) Scratch that, she wants her friend to live the rest of his half-life as happily as possible. She, personally, is happier in death than in her life, but she doesn't want his remaining life to suck, and who better to introduce him to than the man who made her last moments bearable? Or... should she say the Bat who made it bearable >:3c

Dadadada~! We've arrived at the DC plot!

So, Spade being a frickin overpowered ghost(cuz if she wasn't overpowered enough as a human, you can BET that she's OP as hell after getting ghostly) cows all Danny's usual rogues gallery into leaving his haunt alone until she can get done introducing him to someone who was her father-figure for all of however long he sat with her before she unalived. Danny as Phantom is going along with it cuz why not, free vacation! Sam & Tucker were skeptical, but they can't fault Spade for wanting to introduce her new friend to her old life(?).

The DC timeline is messy, and I only know about Ace because of Justice League Unlimited. The show which has NONE of Batman's sidekicks in it cuz Nightwing was getting enough screen time in Teen Titans. And idk how long Spade spent along in Time Is Weird Here, Infinite Realms, but I rly want her to meet the Batfam and hav this rly heartwarming reunion after Oracle tells Batsy about a disturbance near this one swing-set where reality's getting kinda weird and he just KNOWS-

He knows he's gotten a second chance, and if that means getting blindsided by the fact he and the batfam are highly likely to become an Infinite Realms ghost cuz of the highentened levels of ectoplasm from his new/old child's visits, then so be it. The fact that Phantom's still living under his ghost hunter parents roof actually makes it easier to file for custody if it comes down to it...

(Idk Ace's character & DC's plot enough to flesh out an obsession for Spade that fits with all the other nonsense I've just spat out. If someone wants to try and puzzle smth out, I'll be grateful for the opportunity to read it. This has heavy ship potential, but I'm no writer so I've just put Spade and Danny as friends. But if there's gonna be a name, I wanna try for Mad Ghost, Ghost Hatter, Phantom Card or smth along those lines. For my first dp x dc prompt I've ever written, I'm just hoping Ace as a character gets a little more love as a dead DC character, cuz that shiz made me cry when I first watched it ages ago- XD)

hello, my flock! I wanted to write out a proper thank you for hitting 500 followers (almost at 550, already!! [edit: by the time I posted this, we were already at 550!!]). Having a milestone like this be reached is amazing to me!! I started this blog because I wanted to reconnect with some old friends over writing, and it's developed into something far more than I thought it would! I'd like to share some things for the future of this blog, as well as sneak peeks of some of my upcoming works (dearest and gothic, specifically)! I also am going to release the first of my collection of yandere original characters, starting with the pirate Sol Pyxis! 𝔤𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔠: 𝔰𝔞𝔡𝔫𝔢𝔰𝔰 𝔰𝔴𝔢𝔢𝔱 𝔢𝔫𝔬𝔲𝔤𝔥 𝔱𝔬 𝔰𝔴𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔬𝔴 Miguel couldn't understand it. He thought about Y/N all day. All night. Every minute that air passed through his lungs was done with the intent of thinking about her. And he was so fucking mad because how did she not understand that? She ran, mindless, like some savanna animal as soon as he let the barrier down. He loved her, but god was she frustrating. He was being polite, and she completely disregarded it, tossed aside. She tossed him aside. Y/N L/N did not love Miguel O'Hara. And he hated that. He'd be the first to admit that letting the barrier down was a stupid idea. For what physical strength he had over Y/N, she had speed. And at the end of the day, strength means nothing if you can't hit your target. That last hit Y/N had landed on him made Miguel crash into a banking tower, scrawling down the side like a cat. Damn not being able to stick to walls. He'd just about yanked out his claws trying to hang on. And the watch! He should've made Spider-Byte deactivate it before anything else! There was a lot of things Miguel should've done in hindsight.

ok so I have a black suit (graduation is in june I have already resigned myself to a death of heatstroke in the name of fashion), I still have to buy a dress shirt (leaning towards white, but also kind of feel tempted to get a more fun/maybe black shirt? but then my lovely accessories won’t be as striking) and shoes (very much not looking forward to that I hate shoe shopping). In terms of accessories I have a pair of rainbow suspenders that a friend is letting my borrow, a pocket watch (as of yet unsure abt even wearing the pocket watch bc I can’t quite figure out how and I also don’t know if it wouldn’t be a bit much?) and various rings (that I might not wear bc sensory issues but also rings are super cool so. we’ll see). Unsure if I should buy a tie or keep it simpler and also unsure whether I should cut my hair into a bobcut (nicer temperature-wise) and maybe dye it again (my mother would be very mad if I did that but also pink hair is tempting) or if I should keep it longer and then style it nicely

okay firstly is the suit plain black or does it have any detailing like white vertical stripes on it? secondly my suggestion would be a white shirt because wearing a black one would make you sweat even more especially under a full sleeved suit due to the absorption of heat!

also make sure the pants have a bit of space for you to breathe in otherwise it would stick to your skin during the summers because of the sweat!

you could do both a tie and suspenders!! since the suspenders are rainbow, you could do a white or an off white tie so that it complements the suspenders and at the same time elevates it a little more! and the pocket watch might be a nice touch but won't they be heavy?

for jewellery, if you don't want to go with rings then I suggest you do with a dainty gold necklace and a fun light blue or any coloured bracelet that would go with the suspenders!

also your hair depends on the weather bubs, where I live it gets incredibly hot so I mainly prefer short hair but a bob or even a 1920s styled bob! (that would look wonderful on literally all types of hair!)

Nitpick Time, Day 3.

Weiss fucking Schnee.

That hair is a crime, too, and it's the strangest crime.

Whenever I looked at Weiss, I tended to think her hair was thin. Especially at the top of her head and her bangs, and how flat her ponytail was. That's not a bad thing, I actually liked how it suited her.

Even if V5-V6's outfit was nothing to write home about, it wasn't terrible.

But then we enter V7, and not only did we get some bizarre fantasy outfit, but also, Weiss' hair suddenly became thicker.

Her hair got thicker over night? Her bangs and ponytail have more volume now, and it's not even because of the braid. It just has more body now, and I find it so weird. A massive braid is already weird to begin with, but even that outfit is a strange genre of fantasy.

Where did she get all that hair? Did Ironwood add a magic hair serum in her goodie box? That magic'd her hair to get more body instantly? (Well that would explain the beard he got lol)

She looks like she's cosplaying as a princess, which is weird because this is her volume where she begins pushing her Schnee status, and shunning her father, away. Wouldn't she want to start looking more like a commoner now? Hell, a Huntress outfit that's way more efficient would've been awesome, like ditching the combat skirt for fitted pants, and losing the jewelry because they're just signs of wealth. Something to tell us that Weiss is growing out of that Schnee look.

This look tells me that Weiss chooses to stay rooted in her past, even if she tries shunning it. I think her V6 outfit was starting us somewhere good. Again, it was bland, BUT I was willing to accept the headcanon that the bland outfit was a way to tell us that Weiss was starting over on a clean slate. But then, V7's outfit made Weiss step back into her problems, kinda like how Ren put his hair back into his V1 hairstyle. His V4 hairstyle was awesome, but then he put it back to his old look. Ugh. Just because she's in her Homeland and facing her family, doesn't mean she has to conform to their standards still. If she drastically changed, it would be an awesome moment for her.

I mentioned this before but I'll say it again, but Weiss should've cut her hair short. Short enough to give Jacques a heart attack the moment he sees her, would've been inspiring. Weiss could have a short bobcut, mess it up, just be a wild child for once, jfc.

I did swimming for quite a few years as a child and was praised to be very fast. I saved a girl from drowning when I was 15... I'm intimidating to the point of scary when it comes to debates. I am ruthless when it comes to winning those and I love the thrill it gives me.

I have been told I was a gifted child since I rarely paid attention in class or studied at home but my grades were always high...I could get away with reading books and staying on my phone because of that. My friends nicknamed me 'Walking Wikipedia' since my thirst for knowledge knows no bounds.

I'm a Slytherin and my favourite colour is green (shocking, right?) Pink is a close second...I even dyed my hair pink once and am thinking about doing it again. I'm a fashionista, too.

I don't follow what's cool or trendy, I just dress in different styles depending on mood/the occasion but people told me my outfits are always put together with matching colours.

I love dancing and am quite good at it, drawing too. You don't want to hear me sing unless it's lullabies, tho. I don't like cooking and prefer takeout or going to restaurants or my family's cooking.

I'm stubborn and a free spirit. Quiet and analytical unless a topic I'm passionate about comes up. It takes a lot to get me angry. Restrict my freedom and I will riot, however. I will stand up for people who get bullied while injustice/lack of common sense frustrate me. Otherwise I am calm.

I am also not overly-emotional and make my decisions based on logic. I say what I mean and don't care if I hurt other people's feelings. Although, if you are precious to me... I will be a bit more careful in how I come across or just not open my mouth and keep it to myself but that depends on whether your actions: one, either affect me directly or two, are stupidly dangerous for your wellbeing. I hate crying in front of others so I bottle it up until I can't anymore since I perceive it as showing weakness because of the trauma I went through most of my childhood and teen years. I am not impulsive nor reckless, however. If it's best not argue during a certain situation, I won't.

As for my ideal relationship... there is no such thing as one. However, I would like someone who is roughly on the same wavelength as me where it matters most but different enough so that we complete each other. That said, I wouldn't want to be with someone who is too sensitive. I need to be truthful, straightforward without worrying I am hurting them by being myself.

I am the ideas person, less prone to action so I would like someone who can take my plan and carry it through. I'm not touch adverse but I don't require affection twenty four seven, either... I enjoy it quite a bit but I'm not desperate for it. I wouldn't show it in public much. My significant other would be the only one who gets to see my softer side. I wouldn't like someone who clings to me and wants validation all the time. I want someone confident, self-assured. Someone I can rely on and team up with. I don't just want a lover (though the sexual aspect of the relationship is also important) but a 'partner in crime', a friend. Actions speak louder than words, I would prefer someone who shows me that they love me. It's alright if they don't vocalize it all that often. I need to be able to carry intelligent conversations with them, too.

Deeper thoughts under the cut.

Wonder Egg Priority and Urasekai Picnic are the clear AOTS contenders. Both are at once extremely superficially similar but very different in practice, and both bring something unique and charming to the table.

Urasekai is extremely notable at being a well executed supernatural adventure anime that is also a yuri; as much as I love pure romances like Bloom into You or Adachi and Shimamura, it’s very rare that we get anime with lesbian main characters or WLW romance where the romance itself isn’t the focus, that includes a serious, intriguing plot alongside the elements of romance. You know, like straight people get without a question every single story ever.

It’s got this very classic cryptid / SCP / otherworld adventure feel and has the right comedic and tension beats to be quite good, though its long term impact will be determined by what kind of further message it has.

Wonder Egg Priority immediately comes off with extremely powerful vibes in the vein of things like Flip Flappers, which I mean in the highest compliment. A surreal, metaphor-filled story of dreams and desires and well laid subtext, with colourful, exotic action and a snappy pace. This one’s extremely interesting to me, and its first episode was masterfully efficient in setting up its premise both aesthetically and thematically.

The real test for Wonder Egg will come with time; this is a story that trades heavily in meaning; so it’ll have to run longer and come to a conclusion to really test what kind of impact it’ll have. For now, I’m VERY interested and cautiously optimistic.

Spider Isekai is a charming twist on the typical flood of fantasy game / isekai stories placing our protagonist at the extreme low end of the power curve, and quite UNLIKE Slime Isekai or most others on the market like last season’s Kuma Bear, this one seems intent on keeping her there rather than immediately granting her insane godlike powers and thrusting her back above the curve.

The parts of the show that focus on the spider herself are lovely; there’s a real tension and sense of stakes in her struggle to adapt, slowly getting used to her new body and gaining levels and abilities, making even simple conflicts against frogs or lizards seem life threatening and serious, giving us a real reason to root for her.

On the other hand, the show frequently switches focus to... the entire other classroom of isekai’d children which is by far less interesting. There’s potential in there somewhere for a story about mass isekai’d kids adapting, but other than some details like one girl being gender swapped, and another being the class pet, there’s just really not much interesting about them at the moment and these sections just feel like a waste of time while waiting for the Spider to come back.

I don’t doubt that they’ll eventually meet up and have their stories intertwine... but at the moment, I don’t think I actually want that to happen. We’ll see where this one goes.

Kemono Jihen took me by surprise, and I wasn’t planning to watch this one unti l saw some screencaps. But the first two episodes have been outstanding, giving us a fantastic supernatural mystery detective agency plot and characters with real emotions, eye catching action scenes, and a compelling mystery.

Definitely looking forward to more of this one.

Hortensia Saga seems like a fairly typical fantasy war chronicle RPG story. It feels very in the vein of early to mid era fire emblems, and I happen to like anime like this that are solidly executed, like Grancrest Senki a while back. It’s doing a good enough job so far to keep my interest. Nothing game changing here, but a decent offering.

Soukou Musume Senki; this one also comes across in the standard seasonal fare of superpowered teenagers fighting aliens, this time with power armor and mild isekai elements. The monster designs are good this time, and the second episode brought us some nice moral / political dialogue showcasing some level of self awareness and depth. It’s fun so far.

Gekidol this show wants really badly to be compared favourably to Shoujo Kageki Starlight Revue. They’re hamming up the theatre tropes, putting out specials, sliding in secret background lore. First episode was fairly interesting, but the second seriously dropped the ball with its half assed Idol episode, and incredibly tone deaf play at a heartwarming moment.

I’m gonna keep watching this one for now, but it really needs to prove to me it has some meat and isn’t going to just keep borrowing tropes from other shows to lend it superficial “deep” merits.

For sequels,

Cells at Work is as cute, wholesome, and info-taining as ever. I think the OP this time is missing a little oomph, but the show itself is still going strong.

Cells at Work: Black! is offering a new take on it with a slightly darker and mature setting with a stressed out alcholic smoker at risk of contracting STDS, with a little bleaker tone and harsher stakes. It relies on the background of the original Cells at Work to work both tonally and narratively, but with that support it provides something quite interesting and unique.

The usual Cells at Work metaphors and humanization of bodily processes are just as excellent as always, and I’m giving special credit to the sketch about alcholic liver damage being compared to drunken abuse of host club employees, displaying a perhaps obvious if natural juxtaposition of the physical and emotional damage the substance abuse is causing to both the body itself and others around them.

Uma Musume; Horse girls! Racing! Just as surprisingly excellent as last season, giving us a fantastic sports story anime with charming characters and balanced stakes, with a good helping of humour. Easy recommend.

Slime Isekai: This one’s still going strong but has diverged from it’s original premise quite seriously. There’s nothing intriguing about this being an isekai  about being reincarnated as a slime anymore; and he’s way too overpowered for any of the combat to have any stakes. What it DOES have however is a fascinating look at the birth of a fantasy nation of monsters, politics, science, and social development of a varied and multicultural monster nation. And THAT I’m still in for.

I will seriously never forgive them for making Bobcut Lizardgirl into a regular ass human though. It has a serious problem with de-monsterizing its character designs and seriously reducing their appeal.

Log Horizon the true king of MMO isekai is back after 7 long, long years, and it’s jumping STRAIGHT into the depth of its political intrigue and deep understanding and development of the socio political issues inherent to its setting. Somewhat dry as ever, but truly fascinating for those looking at a more serious exploration of what the concept of living in a game actually means.

Dr Stone: I don’t have to hype this up, do I? Mad science speedrunning the development of human culture from the stone age up! This time they’re going to war! They made cell phones and cup ramen out of rocks! It’s heartwarming, emotionally rich, entertaining and informative, and funny as all hell. A classic for sure.

Higurashi. Everyone knows higurashi. Thing is, I just never watched it. We thought Gou was going to be a remake, but then it ended up being Rebuild of Evangelion, so I stopped at episode 12 or so and went back to watch the original. Classic horror mystery.

Yashahime. Yikes. This one’s... well. I don’t have any especial nostalgia or affection for Inuyasha like many people, but Yashahime is clearly a very middling approximation of it. There’s things to like here, the main trio of characters are all great designs, Moroha standing even head and shoulders above them as a truly endearing goblin child, and it really does feel in ways like 90s toonami fare. But there’s some lack of depth going on here, and I just don’t even know what to say about the Sesshoumaru pedophilia thing. Extremely questionable plotting.

Chapter 2- We Were Staying in Paris, to Get Away from Your Parents. 

The three girls were giggling as they were drying their hair on the balcony. Lori had a small apartment, her parents had paid for it when she was in college. Annie and Y/N had decided to stay on campus. But it never stopped for sleepovers at Lori’s house and small parties. Lori’s parents were not happy when they would sometimes stop by and would see the mess of a party the night before. Lori was the classy one, A bobcut with bangs. Lori had dark brown eyes and an elegant smile on her face. Coming from a high class family, she enjoyed having wine at the night time and was a fan of classical music. A rumor had gone around that she was a countess in England. Although it wasn’t true, Lori would smile and take that rumor with pride. Often joking that she was close friends with the Queen of England. Annie had a soft smile with dark blue eyes and short hair. Coming from a middle class family, she was full of life and could make everyone smile when they enter the room. Annie was very creative, creating outfits from curtains (Lori was upset one day to find one of her curtains were destroyed and Annie sitting on the floor and creating an outfit) Also being very skilled in painting and drawing, her friends would say that she’s the next famous painter. Annie would wave it off and say that her art wasn’t meant to be in a museum, not yet at least. “That was so awesome!” Annie said with the biggest grin on her face as she held her glass on wine in the air “To finishing college!” She cheered. Lori and Y/N smiling and joining in the cheers as their glasses clinked together. “Your mom didn’t make it to the ceremony I see” Lori said as she took a seat on one of the chairs. Narrowing her eyes, she sighed and nodded “I expected that from my mother dearest, she’s on her latest tour” Her mother was a pretty well known singer. Traveling with her mother since she was a child, Y/N had traveled the world when she was smaller  but when becoming a teen and then college student.. Her mother left her at their house in Paris, with a nanny for most of her life.. She did have a grudge against her mother. Assuming that her mother cared about her singing career than her own daughter.. Going to college was one of the best things because she found her two best friends that quickly became like family to her. It didn’t hurt that she also had a fantastic voice just like her mother. Her mother tried to get her into the spotlight but she refused.. She just wanted a normal life, not a crazy one like her mother’s. Annie took a sip of her wine and she looked over at her best friend “So what are you gonna do now? Head to the states to find a job? Stay in Paris?” She asked and Y/N smirked and she got up and went towards the balcony before spinning around and facing her friends with a huge grin “Ladies, I’m going on vacation!” She said and Lori had an amuse look on her face and Annie frowned “A vacation?” “I didn’t really take a vacation during my time in college. When the semesters would be over I just would go back to my mother’s house in Paris.. But shocking enough, I was home alone” She began and she turned to look at the Eiffel Tower “Are you sure you’re not doing this because you’re rebelling against your mother?” Lori asked as she took a sip of her wine and Annie chuckled “I rebelled at my parents.. Didn’t work out as I thought, they rented out my room” “Sold your pet turtle too” Lori added and Annie sighed and looked at the sky “I’ll never forget Tortie” Looking at her friends she sat down for a moment and shrugged “My mom won’t miss me, she’s on tour. I just wanna go explore the world for a while” She said and Lori gave her a look “You’re leaving us” “No” She corrected as she poured herself a glass of wine “I’m simply going to find us a place to perform, will be the best place ever.. We’re gonna have a sold out crowd and we’re gonna sing out hearts away” “What if one of us finds the one?” Annie asked and Lori raised an eyebrow “The one I’m looking for is an older man.. Has to be mature and has a good job.. Lots of money” Lori grinned and Annie chuckled “More like you’ll be the old cat lady when we’re all old” “I’m never going to drop you guys, you mean the world to me.. You guys are basically my family. My father isn’t in the picture, my mom is on tour.. You two are the only ones I got” She said looking at her friends with a fond expression Annie smiled softly and Lori smirked at her friend “Good, cause we’re gonna be in your life forever too” She looked over at the Eiffel Tower and she smiled softly “Life is short.. The world is huge, time to make some memories” All three girls jumped up and they cheered with their wine glasses “To family!” They cheered and they started dancing around and were throwing clothes in Lori’s room that night. Lori and Annie helping their friend pack too. That night, Lori and Annie walked their friend to the airport and the three girls were cheering and Annie running a bit in the streets, sometimes the suitcase would open and clothes would be flying out (They had too much to drink, with all that dancing it caused them to be thirsty) The three girls laughing as they were quickly stuffing the clothes back in. Finally getting into a taxi and to the airport, She looked at her two friends. Lori resting her head on Annie’s shoulder as both of them were dozing off a bit. She rested her head on Lori’s shoulder and she watched the nightlife of Paris. After checking in and her suitcase being taken. She turned towards her friends and brought them into a hug “I’ll call as soon as I find a place for us to sing.. I promise you’ll love it” Annie smiled softly “We’re gonna wait for that call” Lori grinned at her best friend “Go live that life of yours girl, We’ll be waiting.” After hugging her friends goodbye, she sighed and put on her hat and she started to walk through the tunnel, looking back she saw her best friends waving at her and she waved back before walking inside the tunnel. She didn’t know what to expect, but she was ready.. She was ready to take on the world.
