Thinking about how very rushed the pacing of OFMD season 2 felt, I realized that it's actually a good example of why Neil Gaiman taking a gamble and deciding to write a completely new season for Good Omens to properly link season 1 and season 3 and end it at that point was the best thing he could ever do.
OFMD felt like David Jenkins and the writing team were so scared they'd get cancelled that they crammed as much plot as they could in season 2 and tried their best to end it in a way that would work as an actual ending if they cancelled the show, but doing so they sacrificed a lot of interesting character developments and character dynamics, and (imho) wasted a fantastic villain (Ned) killing him off in one episode when he could have been a great foe for the whole season, with Ricky being set up as the main villain in season 3.
I'm not saying OFMD had to end in a cliffhanger like Good Omens did, but they could have still taken a gamble and tell the story they wanted to tell properly, and then adapt it in some other way if the show didn't get renewed, similarly to how Neil said he will write a book if they don't renew Good Omens.

I really wish there was at least one chapter between Memory World and the ceremonial duel showing just. the gang hanging out during that last month they had with Atem. he feels so sad from the end of memory world to the end of the series, and I think it would have been really nice to have just one last look of them all together and happy before the final arc

yeah Romeo and Juliet suuucks they should’ve both survived at the end and lived happily ever after instead. but of course the writer kills them both off for shock value.

My sort of maybe embarrassing “late to the game” thing I’m learning now is how to tell if oil has gone bad.
I feel like most other foods have obvious visual tells like mold or they end up smelling foul and obviously bad. But I was googling about oil and the internet says “if it smells like crayons, it’s bad” which would not have been my first guess. And I tested it out on my somewhat old sesame oil and was like “by god, I would describe this as smelling like crayons”
Anyway protip if your old oil smells kinda like crayons it’s probably no good 🖍️

lead balloon (the tumblr post that saved me)
if this comic resonated with you, it would mean the world to me if you donated to this palestinian family's escape fund.
--
no creative notes because this isn't that kind of comic.
I know I don’t owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. They’re always passing urges, but it’s disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brain’s spent so long thinking only about suicide that it’s forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But I’m trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.
I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.
If you'd like to do the same, you can look at Operation Olive Branch, which hosts hundreds of Palestinian escape funds or donate to Safebow, which has helped facilitate the safe crossing and securing of important medical procedures for over 150 at-risk palestinians since the beginning of the genocide.
