Been having this silly thought of a non/less angsty version of fics where Eddie keeps pushing Steve toward Nancy after season four.

Eddie does keep hint-hint nudge-nudging Steve toward Nancy, not even necessarily to protect his own heart, but because he is good friends with both of them after the end of the world and wants them both to be happy.

He absolutely has a big fat crush on Steve, but is able to compartmentalize it and root for them earnestly. He's not trying to force them together or get too aggressive with it, just little knowing looks and leading sentences every now and then.

Right up until Eddie learns, totally casually, because Steve forgot he never told Eddie, that Steve is bi and likes men. Eddie is immediately and aggressively like "move, I'm gay" in the middle of a group hangout because he heard Steve talking to Robin about an old hookup. He literally and playfully shoves Nancy and Robin on his way to drop to his knees and ask Steve to go on a date with him, please and thank you.
