Now that we have the Minecraft Movie, I don’t want to hear a single one of you f***ers to say that Story Mode has “bad writing.”

You cannot convince me that Story Mode (which is more faithful to the Minecraft experience and which has multiple characters with fleshed out arcs and storylines across two seasons) somehow has worse writing than Jack Black screaming Chicken Jockey and doing a 69 with Jason Mamoa.

You cannot convince me that a movie whose own ad campaign was “turn off your brain” is more engaging and better written than anything we got in Story Mode.

You cannot convince me that Story Mode has “inconsistent writing” when the Minecraft Movie literally has main characters disappear for long stretches of time and never do anything meaningful or have a reason to be there.

Ivor’s plan to unleash a wither storm on a population as revenge for his friends abandoning him and faking their success is INFINITELY more compelling than Malgosha not being allowed to DANCE.

The writers for Story Mode deserve so much better recognition and praise than they’ve ever gotten.

Steamy Saturday

From the title, we thought this pulp romance was going to be about steam among gay veterans, but it's not. It's about gay veterinarians! Seriously.

In Gay Vets by Ross Hossannah, published in Union City, N.J. by Star News Co. in 1965, the main character Dur Jeffers is just a country farm boy who goes off to Ag School to become a veterinarian because "a man had to get ahead in the world." He starts living with the Dean's permissive family and their gay nephew Tom Ivors. Things get steamy until Tom graduates and is off to a job in "Moccasin County." Along the way there are a lot of down-home farming innuendos. With Tom leaving, he assures the sullen Dur that "I'll be home on weekends. . . . This not the end of the world -- unless you take a tenant to farm the south forty." Later, Tom jokes, "I forget whether I should take the truck or the tractor to the south forty."

"Better take the combine. The wheat's ripe and ready for harvest."

"You can shuck the corn while I'm gone," Tom said.

Unfortunately, Dur will have to do a lot of shucking, because sadly Tom dies in a highway accident coming home. Dur eventually graduates, but instead of taking a steady job, he decides to hit the road and wander. Along the way, he hooks up with fellow Aggie Terry Sullivan and Dur takes him under his wing . . . in more ways than one. Still, there's a whole, whole lot of detailed veterinarian-ing going on, which is a bit distracting. There's also an interesting interlude about race prejudice.

Dur and Terry go on several wacky veterinary adventures, but Dur cannot bring himself to commit, so Terry eventually leaves. Dur begrudgingly settles down to run an animal hospital, with several more weird veterinary adventures. But eventually, Terry returns, they make up, Dur dumps the hospital, and in the end they're off on the road again as the itinerant Gay Vets!

We don't know a whole lot about the author, but we do know that Ross Hossannah is one of several pseudonyms used by gay pulp fiction writer James H. Ramp.

Macaque and Wukong are married, the kings of Flower Fruit Mountain (even though I used queen in the video his suitors do not treat him as though he is also the king), Wukong has to go off to war on behalf of the allies they made when they were young rulers of a newly flourishing kingdom, he's supposedly killed in the battle, and Macaque was expecting twin daughters and didn't know it when Wukong left. For extra ANGST, I am an angst-ivore

Everybody and their mother wants to take Macaque, both to get the title of king of Flower Fruit Mountain because it's a prosperous kingdom, and as a fuck you to Wukong because a lot of people don't like him, he's been keeping his suitors distracted as best he could but they have figured out he's lying and are threatening to use more violent ways of getting him to select a new King.

Mr. Snake-bitch-mommy-issues Xiangliu is his main suitor and takes the role of Antonius.

The two demon monkeys standing by the door are Marshal Ma(right) and Marshal Liu (left). Ma is albino that's why her eyes are pink and she's got stuff under her eyes, it's a charcoal smear to help her see.

I have a fanfic about this au in the work already, I think it'll be done before the end of the year, but I have minor surgery on the 26th so who knows what'll happen.

some parent headcanons for the main gang because I would like to indulge:

Jesse's an orphan (tragic hero backstory and found family activate)

Olivia has a regular family but they don't talk that much (they're vaguely supportive of her redstone but don't really 'get it')

Axel was raised by a single mom (and finds a father figure in Magnus)

Petra has a father she hates and a mom who died when she was very young (daddy issues fit her character: overly independent and emotionally distant, but can be anxiously clingy)

Lukas also has a normal-ish family but his dad disapproves of his more sensitive side (look, pa! I'm a writer)

Ivor's mom is still alive and kicking and is the only one who can put the fear of god into him

Aiden's parents are the most upstanding nicest people you will ever meet (to make Aiden himself ever more baffling)

Mcsm spoilers but Admin Branzy au since this game has me on chokehold🦭

Basically the whole au is Based on the fact i have this other au where Branzy created a device that allows him to travel across universes/au's and he chose mcsm world as his "vacation spot" but Uh oh wither storm happend! And he kinda ended up running into the main Group and stuck around. He ended up staying at beacontown

Also when he did became an admin it took a lottt of convincing to prove he is a good guy. Some beacontown civilians Left tho but its fine.

When it comes to reliantionships its nothing crazy. Everyone is rather friendly but Branzy especially fucks with Olivia due to Them both liking redstone. He also regularly visits boom Town to blow things up with Axel yay!

Nobody knows he is from different universe and when he tried to find lifesteal in the portal hallway he wasnt able. The atlas pointed somewhere far far away and after walking for few hours he gave up and returned to beacontown. Right now his objective is to configure back his own portal gun to send him back to lifesteal so he could create a stable portal and be able to hop from universe to universe. Also he misses Clown

Him and Jesse are on rather good terms in a way Jesse was the first one to believe him when he explained how he Got admin's Powers. They both drink beers on sunday while looking at beacontown

The main squad often visits his end city that is knows as "The city at the end" lol. Lukas is really impressed how Branzy was able to make endermans to smart and he is almost done with writting a book about it. Ivor says Soren would have loved this

When Talking with Petra Branzy sometimes Just throws random insane facts about his adventures like "yeah i've rode a camel through end one time it was exhausting" or something similar. Petra is very thrown off most of the times and then says how sick it sounded with excited tone

Radar also tweaks out whenever Branzy mentions his enderman studies

In Wystery Origins (vods are on @PrimaVeraArchive on yt) he literally makes laws to kill stop gay people from kissing and his bodyguard only kills lesbians

He hates the main lesbians of the server (to be fair I do too) and replies with vomit emojis every time there's art of them in the discord. Also just look at him, he's so homophobic looking. And emo for some reason.

He hosted a ball on Wystery Origins and told his security guard to stop one specific lesbian couple from being together (instructions were: kill them if they leave together, punch them if they kiss, etc). His war general is one of the lesbians and he tried to ban her from seeing her wife. (She didn’t listen and invited her wife over anyway. Prince Cod was not happy). Okay maybe i should do more rants about my MCSM AU ideas bc like. I have a LOT and then a month later I see someone mention an idea like it and I missed my chance 😭 so let's just clear up a few things

WARNING: some things may be triggering to some, so if you don't like mentions of kidnapping, death, horror in general, and a few other serious topics then these stories are not for you.

DELUSION — MY MAIN AU!!Jesse lives with his aunt (Ivy) in a small house in a small town. His dad went missing a while ago, and the only thing he really has left of his dad is Ivy's story of the last time she saw him. He discovers a strange world filled with patients, all experimented on by an entity known simply as The Creator. The Creator was the first person to arrive in this world. Without an escape, he slowly went insane and killed his other adventurers. He panicked and had sewn them back together, giving them new life. Kinda like Frankenstein's monster. Since he basically recreated all of these people into these things or creatures, they see him as their god. He is always watching. And he is not so merciful to newcomers. Specifically those that threaten his authority. Jesse spends the story going through these 7 levels, of course based off of the 7 deadly sins. He has to stay alive and escape this hellish world, maybe even stop The Creator from taking anymore victims. I won't spoil much for this AU because I want you all to read it and figure out stuff on your own

FREAKSHOW — this au is based on the song The Greatest Show Unearthed. The current story at time of posting this is: Ivor and his son, Jesse, visit a carnival. They soon get wrapped up in the plans of the evil ringmaster (Romeo) who steals and manipulates children to join his circus. At day, it's a normal and fun wonderland. At night, it's a horrific, gorey freakshow filled with some unimaginable horrors. This is the first AU of mine where Ivor is (FOR ONCE) a good dad (not counting me and Br0ken's first MCSM AU. That one takes 2nd place)

FEARS/PHOBIA — This AU is mainly just major death. In this AU, each of the characters represent a phobia that Jesse has. Jesse starts killing all of them, trying to free himself from paranoia. Along the way, he gets tired of it. He tries to befriend some fears but soon kills them still. After becoming fearless and killing Romeo (the fear of death) he takes his own life.

FUGITIVE AU — this was a ship AU I had made because I was sad there was barely any Jailbirds (Reginald x Milo) content. The main idea: Milo would steal items and basically commit various crimes for Build Club. He'd get arrested sometimes, but was let go as no one had any evidence that it was actually him who committed the crime. When in jail, he'd talk to Reginald quite a bit and they seemed to get along. Isa, however, was tired of these constant crimes and the fugitive going unpunished, so she ordered Reginald to do whatever he could to capture them. Once Reginald successfully captured Milo, Isa sentanced the criminal to death by void. Reginald tries to protest, claiming that the punishment is much too harsh, but Isa doesn't listen and instead orders the guards to arrest Reginald with charge of treason. Reginald and Milo end up falling off of the island together mid-battle and fall to the island. Reginald wants to find a way back up and talk some sense into Isa, but Milo is completely ECSTATIC and only agrees to find a way back up when Milo remembers Build Club

ALIEN AU — random PolyOrder AU I thought of because of a narrative writing prompt at school 😭. The Old Order are pretty much just are aliens from a planet that is mainly just The End. They crash on Earth and the only person who doesn't like the new world is Soren. They decide to stay on the planet and study the world. They meet a human (Gabriel) and he helps them learn more about the world. Depending on how I feel about the writing, I may post a chapter or two.

BIOMES AU — one-off idea I had. Each of the characters are celestial beings (or gods/admins) that rule over specific biomes. A collab AU with @thegreatnure, if you have any questions you can also ask them about this AU!! The story isn't complete yet, but the main characters are the YouTubers. There's all sorts of discord amongst the gods that needs to be fixed.

AXOLOTL AU — little AU where the Adventure Trio (after Jack is killed in season 2) are revived as axolotl's and are found by Ivor after the Older Order breaks up. It's a small AU idea I had to while talking to @/thegreatnure—THE SECOND FIC I'VE EVER POSTED!!!!

HIGH SCHOOL AU — collab au with @/br0ken-camera! It's exactly what it sounds like. There's not much story to this other than plays on the canon story and little headcanons that I'll post about sometimes

TRAILS AU — This is an AU I thought of a while ago. The story follows M!Jesse and F!Jessi, Player One and Player Two. They explore a puzzle filled game and interact with the different residents of the world. They find out what happened to the game and why development had ended. A virus had intruded the game and then the characters started acting odd, that was what they were told.

WHITE PUMPKIN IVOR — so. third AU I've ever worked on. It's pretty much what it sounds like and I might rewrite it sometime in the future.

GAME SHOW AU — this.. is a WORK IN PROGRESS!!! I was watching Traitors and thought.. Hey. What if MCSM AU. I will make a different blog for this is the future <3

DESERTED AU — An apocalyptic AU. After a nuclear war, the land has been stripped of most life. The planet is dying slowly. Radiation hangs in the air. There's a fight going on against humans (normal, for now) and creatures (those mutated by the climate/chemicals). This will be an RP blog that I'll work on in the future!!!

MISTAKEN AU — Vos looks too much like Romeo.. Sadly, no one sees him as just Vos.

DERANGED AU — an AU about the Old Order with @/sir-vinekill !! Basically, Old Order are much worse than in canon.. Has a few sensitive topics such as abuse, sh, and medication.

With The Brit Awards coming up, I was thinking about the first few years that AM appeared.

In 2006, they got someone who’s not even in their band (Keith Murray from We Are Scientists) to do their acceptance speech). X

Then in 2007, we got The Wizard of Oz and YMCA fancy dress acceptance speeches.

Now, we know they were trying to make fun of the event and awards in general. But both of these sets of costumes… really? 🤔

Notice how Jamie is dressed as Dorothy from the film. This would make Alex “a friend of Dorothy,” as Wikipedia explains. X Surely the lead singer would usually be the main role, unless maybe he was trying to say something.

Then in the Village People, Alex is dressed as the sailor. Now I didn’t think anything about this until I came across this Reddit post. X

Then in 2008, they dressed up as “Country Gentlemen.”

According to this GQ article, Alex says:

“We invested a lot of time into that," says Turner. "Traipsing around all those hunting shops in Mayfair. I wonder what they thought we were doing - these 'spotty youths'!"

Why would they invest time and energy for that? Wouldn’t it be easier to hire a set of 4 costumes again?

I wonder if these costumes are another (less obvious) reference.

On 24th May 2007, Alex collected the Ivor Novello award (where incidentally Elton John flirted with him!) x. These Brit Awards would be the first since that.

Ivor Norvello was gay in real life. But in the 2001 film “Gosforth Park” he was included as a character, who goes to the house for a hunting weekend. (Poor picture here but the costumes stood out when I watched the film).

Is it a nod to that or does anyone have any other ideas about why they went to such trouble for the “country gentlemen” costumes???
