Dazai and Chuuya’s relationship across alternate universes

In an universe they are…

Young demigods, each carrying unwanted burdens and expectations—unfavored by the Fates. (the song of achilles kind of angst and hades game kind of comfort)

In another,

They are the most wanted criminals of the sea, yet no one seems to have information on the real names of the notorious “Demon Pirate” and the legendary “Stormbringer”……aside from ‘mackerel’ and ‘slug’…(the only universe where dazai gets the fancy hat title)

In one universe,

They are the most feared detective duo of Yokohama. Despite their violent history, Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya now set their hearts and abilities on saving people and protecting orphans. (and are father figures to several of them including the wanted weretiger)

In yet another universe,

They are world class figure skaters, known to be bitter rivals by the media. Famous for their own record breaking programs and titles, their rivalry would always be the main attraction of every competition. (only for them to announce something completely unexpected during their last olympic gala performance: their engagement)

And perhaps in another one, or in a timeline they’ve live through in the past…

They are warriors of the sword in their ancient homeland. A fearsome duo—powerful enough to defeat armies; cunning enough to end dynasties of schemes. (yet a tragic time they lived in, a tragic ending they got)

Interesting to see people interpret Aziraphales stutter after the kiss to be almost saying "I love you". To me it's pretty clear he's mouthing "I cant-" which is way more compelling anyway. Cant what? Cant return the kiss? Can't accept it? Cant begin to pull back the pretending and subterfuge and excuses that make up your relationship in order to get to the bottom of it? Cant say how you feel because you've been denying yourself for so long?

Aziraphale cant "do" anything in that moment *except* forgive Crowley. Its all he knows on Angel Default, and cmon. He's trapped in a mental prison of his own making. Every miniscule thought of touching Crowley is followed by doom-shame and thoughts of being struck down by God.

You can blink and miss it, but (except in flashback) Aziraphale doesn't eat almost any food this season. Id bargain he is already feeling the waves of shame from his years in temptation way before Crowley kisses him. He can't.

AND while dazai was pleading with him to break out of the vampirism with "chuuya, our fate will not end here. because you and i are destined to-" BRO WAS ACTUALLY PERFECTLY CONSCIOUS AND ACTIVELY LISTENING WHILE DAZAI WAS CONFESSING HIS GAYASS TO HIM

Not gonna lie, both vindicating but also deeply sad that every single literary magazine I've looked at recently, having visited those site in the past, has edited their submission requirements to specify that AI work will not be considered.

And at the same time, I'm extremely fearful of how many writers are going to give up writing when it becomes impossible to tell AI from real anymore, and markets are utterly saturated with content to the point that getting anything published is nearly impossible as scammers try to make some quick change.

I imagine it wouldn't be worth it in the long run as a scam, because it doesn't exactly pay to write these days even prior to this, so it may then die out within a couple of years, though that might be optimistic given the plagiarism that makes it into the Amazon self-publishing realm. But even still, I do worry that in the meantime it's going to push writers out and force already struggling lit mags to shut down, and I'm so, so worried about it.
