Buttonblossom Analysis in TADC Episode 2

Ragatha was so sweet to Pomni in episode 2 🥺💖 Most people caught onto the obvious fact that Raggs is being codependant and leans onto toxic positivity on the way she tries to cheer up Pomni, but I still think for the most part her heart is in the right place.

I liked their dynamic in episode 1, but I liked it so much in 2 I decided to write a little analysis on it (plus the ship fuel 👀) in preparation for the romance fic I'm writing about them.

Without further ado, let's go!

Looking back at Ragatha, on the good side, she made some very strong, active efforts to help her during her transition into the digital realm. She checked first thing in the morning if she was okay, she tried to make her feel included in the adventure at the beginning and showed care for her safety overall.

My favorite scene, though, is when the circus gang falls into the fudge river and after checking in on them, the first thing she says is: "Poor Pomni!" 😭 Girlie is so empathetic she even manages to care for someone who's not even there, while she's in a terrible situation herself!

I think this proves how much of a good person Raggs is. She doesn't just help people to feel good or superior, she does it because she geniuenly cares for other people's wellbeing and I find that very noble 😊

On the negative side, she seems to have some very particular communication issues with Pomni, even though she seems to be the circus memeber she cares the most about at the moment.

For starters, her attitude comes off as a little condescending very often. She hardly asks questions to Pomni and tends to assume for her. She hardly acknowledges some of her struggles and tries to downplay them, like when she degrades their experience as "larping". Also, she makes Pomni feel like a child when she tries to "hype her up" in her own words.

If we take Pomni's nightmare into consideration, it seems she believes Ragatha thinks Pomni is not "cut out for it", which might be a result of her condescending behavior I just mentioned.

This makes sense to me and also sheds a little bit of light on how Pomni sees herself as: small and insignificant. It's unclear at the moment how she was before on the physical world, but I speculate based on this evidence she probably didn't think she had much agency in her life (just how she feels in the circus).

At the end, however, thanks to her experience with Gummigoo and looking at the crew grief over Kaufmo's abstraction, Pomni opens herself more to the crew, which is a very good sign.

I think her current dynamic with Ragatha is wicked cool! ✨️ There's a lot of room for growth, which is good in my opinion. Ragatha clearly cares a lot about Pomni and I think with time she could grow to reciprocate her as well.

Despite her cowardness in episode 1, I always had the feeling that Pomz was deep down a caring individual as well, which was solidly proven in 2 with her interactions with Gummi.

On the fanon side, I saw a lot of fans foaming at the mouth (myself included) over the fact that Ragatha was such a tryhard with Pomni (which was anticipated to be the contrary). Some fans have interpreted their potential dynamics as both being shy, which I really, really like.

I believe I will definitely include that in my future fanfic. Another idea I wanted to explore is Pomni talking to Ragatha about her overbearing issues, while still appreciating her good qualities at the same time.

I think it's going to be great ☺️❤ I already look forward to what the end result is going to be. I love mutual pining and I love sweet lesbians caring for each other (even when they're silly girlfails). I'm planning to start by submitting chapter 1 by next Friday and submit a new one every following one, as I've done before.

I usually post updates on Saturday or Sunday, but I'll be traveling so I decided to leave the previews today.

In fact, this trip is the warning I have to give. I will be away from my work desk and my materials for a few days (I don't know exactly how many but between one and two weeks), therefore I will not be able to make progress on the Comic during this period.

This is sad I know. But look on the bright side, I'm going to get a lot of rest and return to work with renewed energy!!!

The Kingdom was so happy and grateful that they began to name their new rulers with nicknames that reflected their magnificence and passion, thus making them known as King Magnífico and Queen Amable.

Asha: "I thought it was a fantasy book, but it's just romance. Yuck!”

Sabino: "Never judge a book by its cover, darling! What you have here is a history book."

Asha: "But he doesn't explain things very well.Where does Queen Amaya come from? And the king's staff?What disease did Florian die from?"

My thoughts and highlights on A Plague Tale: Tenebris:

Hugo doesn't know the difference between the role of a mother and sister in his life is a fair but sad point in the story (especially for Amicia who had her childhood taken away)

Beatrice is almost always right, but is terrible at making her points and comes across as an evil witch. Hot take: The woman has never done anything wrong in her life, she just has very poor communication skills 😂

I need to draw Hugo and Brume at some point because the idea of them is just too cute to stop myself ❤️

There are at least 3 good little moments between Beatrice and Amicia that sell me the mother/daughter relationship well, even in conflict, and I wish Requiem had at least one moment like that 🥺

Of all the masters Lucas had: Laurentius taught him the curiosity and discipline of learning; Beatrice taught him to trust his instincts and have the guts to defend his own theories; but André was the one who showed him that none of that matters if he doesn't put it to use to help others and - while Lucas was always a good person - he still needed to learn how to direct that goodness into action and seeing a person as a person, with feelings and that needs more than his systematic help. I believe it's because of what André taught him that Lucas became our golden boy in Requiem 🥰

Amicia getting annoyed when Beatrice treats her and Lucas like kids is great! This shows that the girl sees him as an equal, someone she can trust and have by her side in moments of crisis. The funny part is they met a bunch of kids and she still saw them as kids, even the older ones. But Lucas? Amicia doesn't even consider him an apprentice anymore and gets offended when someone offends him (soulmates behavior ✨)

The little interactions between Lucas and Amicia it's a whole meal for my ship heart 🥰. It's something about the respect between them. The way they care and support each other. And how relieved they feel to know that the other is okay. It's a special bond that makes me so happy and I can't compare it to anything else in this franchise.

The writer missed the opportunity to have Amicia hit Aurele straight in the head with a rock only for him to survive and she be like "oh no, this new sling doesn't have any upgrades 😯"

I wish Aurele and Milo were combined into one character. Both are minor religious fanatics villains with a lot of potential, but no enough time to develop that well. Adapting and mixing their story in some way could work. Just imagine Aurele/Milo survives Tenebris and appears in Requiem and Amicia comment "oh that's the guy who hunted us in Guyenne". Fans more attentive to the ending of Innocence would make the connection, those who read the book would have more context, and the character would feels more fresh and complex. Just a wishful thought, of course, they still good for small villains.

Tenebris made me realize that Amicia's plan at the end of Requiem to go live isolated in the mountains would be completely impractical. I can even imagine Hugo in his teens getting tired of living there with just trees and goats and eventually having another breakdown causing more disasters.

I know I probably missed a lot of details in the translation, but I started reading this just because I wanted more Plague Tale and, as a whole, that's exactly what I got with Tenebris.

I wouldn't be against it if they decided to do another book with a story about what happened after Requiem.

Yeah, give me Amicia and Sophia traveling on a boat bumping into Lucas and André somewhere and end up having to unravel the mystery of some cult recreating Vitalis' white rats.

honestly, everyone’s amazing in this little community. From the band to the fans 💗💗💗 and it was so sweet to see all kinds of people from different age groups. Some moms even coming with their younger daughter and vibing in the seated area while their daughters were in GA hahahaha. of course they got to become carriers of jackets/ bags etc. even the more… ✨colorful ✨Twitter fans were there and they’re a lot less….umm… intense(shall we say?) in person. Like they’re not mean they just really like doing things a certain way and whatever if that makes you happy go off I guess hahahah.

camping was alright! As smooth as an experience like that could be. We checked things out, went and napped and got back at 3 am. But because (as matty made VERY clear from his jokes about dead bodies last night lmao) Baltimore is not a safe area at alllll the venue let us camp inside for the night. Where there was a security guard with us at all times. And thank god that was a thing cuz we did have some weird people stop by and try to come inside and cause drama.

BUT what I will say about camping is that you should find out who the line leader is and see if you have the option of getting your number registered and then leaving overnight to sleep for 7-8 hours then come back in the morning. Cuz apparently some people do this and we didn’t know. the way it usually works is there are check-ins every 3 to four hours from the moment that the line begins until the day of the show. During those check-ins the line leaders will line everyone up in order of your number, take your name and initial to make sure that everyone who’s supposed to be there is in fact there, that nobody is taking anyone’s spot, cutting in line, or trying to be in GA line when they don’t have a ticket (cuz apparently people do try this and see if they can sneak in?). Then you get the official wristbands from Mark and/or Tim and get to go home and you just have to be back before doors open.

BUT some line leaders are chill and will say there are check ins every 3-4 hours until 10 pm. At 10 everyone is allowed to go home/ to a hotel and sleep as long as they come back for morning check in at 6 or 7 am when the 3 hour check ins resume for the day. So you don’t NEED to be camped outside the venue if your line leader has that as an option. You just get your number, leave at 10 pm, come back the next morning having slept, eaten, etc.

some line leaders are more intense though and won’t let you leave. That person who’s been a fan since 2013 that I mentioned in my last reply has experienced both: some super strict lines and some chill. So def check Twitter and see who the leader is and what the rules are. Fans usually make huge group chats on Twitter and discord for each individual show so that people in line can update and say “we just did our check In we are currently at this number” so I would super recommend that you try to get into these gcs if you can. That’s how we kept an eye on the numbers while at dinner and stuff. just make sure to be back by the next check in time / wrist band line time because we did hear horror stories about fans for other shows going to get coffee, not knowing that wrsitbands were coming in 15 min, missing out on it and losing their spot. But that rarely happens if you come back by the time that you are supposed to. Like they give you 3-4 hours to do what you need to do. As long as you stick to that, it should be totally chill. we had a few people who were camping alone and they just joined us. Like a girl came up and said “mind if I sit with you?” And we were like yeah of course and she hung out. Then when doing check ins we got to meet the people who were directly before and after us cuz we lined up with them, and we made friends with them as well. So by the time that you actually get to the pit, you already know the people around you and you’ve bonded over freezing to death and being sleepy and discussing the band in great detail that everyone’s just so happy to share this experience together and sob and wail and scream about Ross being perfect and matty being a smol bean that the whole thing feels like a huge family. We literally referred to each other as a line family hahahah. Okay I hope this wasn’t overwhelming and overboard. But the gist is YOU ARE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN as tiring as the camping process is, it’s worth it.

So when it comes to a lot of female characters that I ship with my OC’s, I like to imagine what kind of children they would have together and also I have an easier time writing and imagining sex with someone who has a dick and someone who has a pussy versus two people who have pussies

As a result, Black Maria getting Saffron pregnant is usually explained via Devil Fruit shenanigans or just isn’t explained at all, Black Maria isn’t the only one either as Ulti is also capable of getting Saffron pregnant and each of Saffron’s S/O’s want to be able to make her have their babies

But yeah basically, that’s why so it’s safe to assume that if I’m writing fictional women having intercourse with my OC’s then it’s either strap on or just that they have a dick so that’s the explanation

I guess in unexplained scenarios, those two scenarios of Ivankov changing the female into a male or them secretly being a futa could work but typically I try not to think too hard about it beyond weird side effect of Devil Fruit or something as then I think too much about it and the smut idea that I had winds up going nowhere

I think the furthest that I’ve ever thought about it is that after sex, the dick just kinda goes away and now there’s just two women but anyways that’s enough of that sort of talk now

Willow is by no means then strongest member of the Roger Pirates like she’s pretty tough, don’t get me wrong but she’s nothing compared to the people on Roger’s crew and considering the bounty on all of them it caused some pretty strong people to be after them

So considering that it’s very likely that she has a bounty on her head, it’s likely that Willow could get a bad ending where she’s captured by an enemy and locked up but considering Rayleigh is also her husband, I doubt that she would be locked up for long

I have mentally played around with the idea of Willow returning to the island where they found her after Roger’s execution only to find her father gone so she lives out the rest of her days in solitude but absolutely none of her S/O’s would allow that so her only bad ending winds up being beaten to death by her father after she didn’t meet Roger and them

As a result, she’s likely alive and in scenarios where Rayleigh and Shakky raised Ace then I can see her acting as another mother to Ace like if Rouge is 1st Mom and Shakky is 2nd Mom then Willow is 3rd Mom plus honestly I can see her telling the best bedtime stories about witches flying through the night and using magic

In scenarios where Ace was raised by Dadan then I can imagine that Willow might be Rayleigh and Shakky but she might also be with Gaban, I can’t really see her as being with Shanks and Buggy like I can see her remaining in contact with them but probably not going with them as despite having a love for running through the woods at night and wanting to be a witch, Willow actually does value calm times

Speaking of Witch by the way, I forgot to really expand upon her so I’ll give a quick explanation as to who she is and why she matters when it comes to Willow and her character

Basically when Willow was young, Willow wanted to be a witch so badly when she grew up to the point where she would pretend cast spells and run around with a broom but her Dad crushed her dreams and forced her to give up on that in favor of being a farmer who takes care of all their needs

These years of isolation and living with only a shit father to keep her company caused Willow’s mental state to take a hit so this prompted the creation of what is kind of like a hallucination and it’s an entity known simply as Witch who embodies everything that Willow wanted to be when she grew up but couldn’t

Witch is her entirely own separate being as she appears to be able to react to things that Willow can’t actively see but despite that, she comes from Willow and refuses to elaborate beyond that on what she is and where she came from

However luckily Witch is incapable of interacting with anything, she can’t even touch Willow and is basically a ghost as she can’t touch anything or be seen by anyone as even Rayleigh doesn’t know when Witch is around however he is aware of her existence

No one but Willow can see Witch but the Roger Pirates are aware of Witch’s existence due to Willow telling them, Witch also encourages her to be a version of her that she wants to see like if Willow happens to disobey someone or take that extra minute on a break from her duties then Witch encourages it

But she’s also a bit of a little shit as she enjoys scaring Willow and just popping out of the weirdest places, Witch has gotten a lot calmer though ever since Rouge chewed her out and trust me as being chewed out by a beautiful lady who can’t see you but is clearly pissed at you is terrifying

So the Ted Lasso finale was a mixed bag, but series finales usually are. I definitely wouldn’t say it was bad—there were really just a couple of bits that I didn’t love/wish they’d done differently

1. I’ll never understand why they made a running joke out of Beard being in a toxic relationship when the themes of the show are positivity, healthy communication, boundaries, etc, etc.

Him ending up married to such an emotionally abusive woman is not a happy ending for him, and I don’t like that the show presented it as one. IIRC, there’s one episode in which Higgins expresses concern about Beard and Jane’s relationship, but it’s never brought up again. Why?

I’m a feminist and I recognize that men are statistically much more likely to be abusers, but that doesn’t mean we should treat it as a joke when a woman is.

2. As others have pointed out, the Roy, Keeley, and Jamie plot was not handled very well. Having the men essentially regress to their s1 personalities and get into a physical fight over her? Jamie boasting about the leaked video that caused her so much pain just a few weeks ago? Not even giving it a definite ending?

Officially putting Ted Lasso in the same category as Stranger Things s4 called “you already resolved this love triangle ages ago and you don’t need to bring it back just because the guy that got dumped went through character development and is a fan favorite himbo now—she’s happy with her grumpy loner boyfriend, leave her be”

I’ve seen people argue that the ending was left ambiguous so that they could hint at a polyamorous resolution, but I honestly didn’t get that impression. I think it was just bad writing, and I’m annoyed that Roy and Keeley spent almost the entire final season broken up and barely interacting.

3. I wish that Nate had gotten a bit more screen time. I feel like his ending was rushed, especially for him being such a major player this season. I liked his scene with Ted, I just wanted a bit more.

Other than that, I’m not overall unhappy with it! I know some fans are upset that Ted ended up going back to Kansas, but that always felt like the natural ending to me. A huge theme of the show (especially in regards to Ted) is parenthood, and I feel like a lot of people are trivializing his relationship with his son just cause they’re mad that their ship isn’t canon. Ted’s story was never about romance, and this wasn’t an out-of-character decision for him to make.

Yeah, Rebecca’s ending felt a bit rushed, but I’m okay with her ending up with mysterious Dutch guy and becoming a stepmother to his daughter. Any ending where Rebecca is happy and loved is a win in my book!

While I still think it was an odd choice to give Colin such a big storyline (just because he’d never been a very important character before), it did end up being one of the best of this season and I’m happy he got to kiss his fella after winning a match 🥺

That’s pretty much it! I’d still rate this season as a whole below the first two, but I’d give the finale a solid 7/10. Not perfect, but a decent ending overall.

🛒 - What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

The curse of immortality. Redemption arcs. Immortals falling in love with mortals (or ancient beings falling in love with less. ancient. beings. (this is not about Cian; this is about Luisa and the Fox)). Mental illness. Queer characters. SO much backstory trauma. SO MUCH BACKSTORY TRAUMA. Apparently also discussions of the use of sex and consent and vulnerability, which is a shocker to me, too, honest. Metaphorical masks and monsters. Usually also a kiddo scene, as mentioned above.

❌ - What's a trope you will never write?

Probably anything that requires sexual intricacies to fully flesh out. But also I'm hesitant to say never because I've found that even tropes I don't like (love triangles, i HATE you SO MUCH) I. still write, on occasion (looking at you, TNOS). So I'm not sure I can say there's a trope I will never write. ...unless it's something that is really triggering for me. But I've also written stuff that would be triggering for me if I were reading it, so like. This is not a good or helpful answer, Skylar, I'm sorry.

🏆 - What's your most popular fic?

AO3: It's a toss up between Finding Family (hits; comment threads) and What Dreams May Come (bookmarks, subscriptions, kudos). Tumblr: The Nature of Soulmates. It consistently has higher notes (even with prompts) than most of my other stuff (with the exception of Christmas Traditions and the very first Agave Stuff one-shot, which surpass or equal a couple of the lower ones).

🎯 - Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which?

Yes. I'm fairly certain - particularly with Finding Family - that someone (or multiple someones) did. I also think you have maybe at least once. But I don't remember...what exactly...those were...to tell you which.

🤗 - What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Write what you are most excited about writing. Don't worry about being perfectly in character or having amazing prose or making everything neat and tidy. Get messy. Write a bunch. Write just for you, just what you want. Post when you're ready, and ignore everyone who gives you shit for it. Fanfic is about the community. It's about having fun with characters you love. Keep having fun and focus on that.

🧠 - Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

skylar you have to pick a character friendo You said Eve, so. Favorite headcanon for Eve! Probably that, despite her fervent desire to see the best in everyone (and her flaw of blaming herself for things when she...shouldn't, sometimes), Eve does have a line and it can be crossed (looking at you, Ted). For all that she loves people, she does have a boundary. But also that - if Ted had wanted to be forgiven, Eve would have forgiven him. If Ted had wanted to be reconciled, Eve would have allowed that. I think the point of this isn't just that Eve has self-respect and boundaries - she does - but also that she respects the boundaries other people put in place, too. If Ted doesn't want to be forgiven, then why should she put in the work to forgive him? Etc.

✅ - What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

So many characters in a lot of my most recent fics - not just Agatha, but I've caught Wanda saying it, too, and it's probably been more than just them - very clearly ask their partner Is this what you want? and then act accordingly. It's less about that last bit - it's more about that very specific line popping up fairly frequently recently. Sometimes multiple times within the same scene, that constant checking in (or pressing for an answer). Unintentional! But very much there.

To answer your question: short form, people suck, lol. I think there's a stunning lack of critical thinking among the general population, probably because of inconsistent schooling. There's a conversation to be had about standardisation globally insofar as this is possible (i.e. language barriers), because the disparity between nations can be whack. (I'm not exactly endorsing standardisation as that has its own pitfalls, but like - there needs to be some sort of benchmark, for fuck sake.) People don't know how to rationalise liking a character that is deeply flawed because they lack the ability to separate that from their own moral code; they think liking a 'bad' character makes them 'bad', very loosely. Also, people just generally suck and like to start fights because it's in our nature to be anarchist fuckwads, etc. Lol, my faith in humanity is shining through!

They've both been dealt really harsh cards by life, and I love to give them love and care and support, not just from each other, but from a wider circle of found family as well. And whenever I get to describe a scene that shows them realizing that, 🥺

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh? (2)

I'm very proud of this line I put in Helena's mouth: “Well, it’s not as if they hadn’t imagined our bedroom activities long before there ever were any.”

I love cliffhangers, both at chapter endings and at fic endings when it's a series! And then wait a week (or, in And Now You, till the events of the next chapter, because I posted that fic in "real time", as it were) until the next chapter goes up. I'm glad my readers are still bearing with me ☺

Several! And one of them I even married! 😁 No, but seriously - I find the feedback of beta readers invaluable, not just because English is my second language but because I get too close to the prose (oh wow, unintentional rhyme, nice of you to drop by!), and need an outside eye to tell me if I'm still going in the right direction.

🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write? (5)

I use good ol' MS Word. With a chapter index, and the new(ish) function of "jump back to where you left off last time", it really works for me. I write pretty much entirely linear, and use a different document for ideas and outline, and a third document for outtakes that might still turn out to be useful down the line, and all of that is straightforward enough to work in Word. I've tried Scrivener, but for me it didn't have enough advantages over what I was already used to in order to really (want to) dive into it and make it mine. With my betas, I use Google Docs and comments, but especially for multichapter fic, that is SO SLOW! And sometimes I write short fic right here on Tumblr, in the app.

Well, I met my wife through my fics, so yes 😁 but even beyond that, a few of my family and friends know. However, none of them (AFAIK) read a lot of fic in general, nor my fic in particular; most of them aren't English readers, OR geeks.

🍆 Do you write the spicy stuffs? If so, what's your most popular nsfw fic? (7)

Y'know, I just checked, and my ratings ranking is "Teen and up" 20 works, "General" 19, "Explicit" 17!, and "Mature" 4. 😂 so yeah, I do write the spicy stuff! Both as parts of the larger narrative (the most popular of which is And Now You), and as PWP (here the most popular is 24th century t...echnology, a Beverly/Kathryn fic). I gotta say I do love me some good smut. And I hope mine meets the bill!

💲 Would you ever open commissions? (8)

I only write fan fic, not original, so no. I am fiercely protective of AO3, and I will protect their integrity one hundred percent. I don't seek to monetize my writing, anyway - it's a pastime, it is fun, and I want it to stay that way. I am lucky in that I don't need any side hustles, and hey, no shade to those who do find (legal, non-harmful-for-the-larger-fanfic-community) ways to make money from writing, but I also hate hate hate that capitalism has come to the point where some people think you gotta derive money from something somehow for it to be worthwhile, or where people see no other choice than to try, in order to make their ends meet. I write for fun. I am privileged to be able to write for fun. So no, no commissions. But hey, sometimes I do prompts, and I love taking part in gift exchanges! So if you ever wanna get something written by me, just let me know and if it tickles my muse, you might get it!

🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic? (9)

Yes, I really like doing that! I have a winter holidays fic, a Halloween fic, a Pride fic, and I have another idea on the backburner for another winter holidays fic; no clue when I'll ever get to writing it, but I'll get there some day! As for favorites, the Halloween fic really kicked my ass, so it won't make that list, and the other two are tied!

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants? (10)

So I never really "learned" how to write? In that I never had any kind of instruction in creative writing, I mean. I didn't even know there was such a thing as outlining, or what different writing processes looked like. I would just open a new Word doc and go forth! So yes, I started out a pantser - but lately I'm working with a writing coach, and have looked into writing styles and strategies in other ways too, and I'm realizing that outlining fits me a little better. I'm in a weird in-between phase right now where I have, like, half a dozen WIPs that were started pantser fashion but where I'm trying to outline how the rest of the fic might go; it's fascinating! (and talking with other writers has been immeasurably helpful for those!)

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success? (11)

If I am happy with it. Sure, I like kudos, and hits, and comments (especially comments! When someone says "this fic is like a warm comfy blanket" or "I've read this four times at least"? Priceless!) but those are the icing, not the cake. I am immensely proud of Angel, Sinner, Dragonslayer, for example, both for the story itself and for the craft of it, but that one isn't even in the Top 15 by kudos or the Top 20 by hits. And for me to love a fic or to consider it good, those benchmarks don't matter. They make me happy, don't get me wrong - I love hearing if my fics reverberate with people, if they make them happy, if they make them feel all the feels, if people think the smut is hot, etc. etc. - but on my opinion of my fic, they have no impact.

⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter? (12)

When the muse hits me, when that holy trifecta of inspiration, motivation and time comes together, I can easily write 10,000 words in a day. It's not that I struggle to get words on the page; it's more that the days when that trifecta hits are rare. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was extremely prolific even by my own standards; writing was my way of coping. That has dropped a little bit, alas. Writing is still my happy place, my way of escaping the current hellscape and hang out with my favorite characters, but my energy has definitely been sapped by *gestures at everything*. Add to that that I only ever publish a fic when it's done, and not as I go (god, that idea scares me) (yes even when I publish it week by week; it's all written and done, I just enjoy torturing you by drawing it out), and you see why there's sometimes a long time between fic drops from me.

💥 How do you feel about criticism? 💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback? (13)

Ah! Feedback is a passion of mine. I can take something from almost any kind of comment - even if it is "this commenter has no idea and isn't engaging in good faith". And I always seek to improve my craft, and for that a comment like "this is a bit weak on plot, innit?" is really helpful! Especially if on top of "bit weak" I get given ideas how it could be stronger. Like I said, I never had any training in creative writing, so I am in many ways still learning and will continue to learn for the rest of my life, and I can only do that when I know where I still have room to grow. A bit of background here: I'm a social worker by training, and work in quality management now. I literally thrive in trying to improve things along any number of axes, and that is simply not possible without criticism. So hey, if you have always wanted to point out to me all the ways in which my stuff could be better, by all means reach out and let me know!

Grimdark. Or even tragedy. I might take my characters to very dark places, but there will always be light at the end; there will always be a happy ending. Also, man-hating lesbians. Also, mlm. Yes, I'm a woman and yes, I write fanfic, but I write femslash, not slash. 🤷‍♀️ There might be a mlm couple somewhere in the background, sure, because I love including all kinds of queer people in my fics, but my muse just isn't tickled by mlm. As a matter of fact, my muse has pointed due Bering and Wells for the last five years or so? So yeah.

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please! (15)

Man, I need to revive the posts in which I talk about my WIPs! Okay, here goes: I'm still working on Strata Part 2 with my beta, and also on Mind Over Matter Part 2. The Pirate fic is a bit on the back burner right now, because I have more inspiration for MOM2 at the moment. I finally have an idea for how to bring it to a good end (thanks, @anandabrat!), and that is the kind of iron you have to hit while it's hot! It'll be from Helena's POV, and show her journey towards a relationship. It's funny how an actual A/B/O fic, that started out with Bering and Wells having, like, the hottest sex ever (offpage though), has turned into one of the slowest burns I've ever written! 😅

Okay, that was a lot!!! And I loved every moment of it!

went to the newark concert by myself and tbh i was a little lonely at first while waiting in line. the merch line was insane but i managed to cop the photocard set and t-shirt 2 min before the show started WOO

i’m always a little awkward at concerts because i’m not much a big reactor. but it’s been 3 years since my last kpop concert in america and i realized how much i had missed everything about it. screaming, dancing, singing along, tearing up, making friends with the people next to me

changmin was so smiley and it warms my heart to see how happy he is to be on stage 🥺 his fan service was also amazing 😭 i could see the genuity in his eyes as he stared at the crowd in awe, completed fans’ hearts, receive gifts, and tried his best to communicate with fans

chanhee also had a lot of fun interacting with deobis !! he and changmin mostly stayed on the right side, which is where i was. he posed a lot and laughed a lot. then he started zoning out while drinking water LOL

seeing the difference in popularities in korea made me sad so i was incredibly happy to hear how loud the cheers and screams were for haknyeon and sangyeon. and of course jacob and kevin !! huge props to kevin for basically mc-ing the entire show and having so much fun while doing it !

the members kept saying stuff like “i promise we’ll come back as a more successful group and to a bigger venue” and it tugged at my heart because i’m so so proud of all they’ve accomplished so far. they were surprised to see the venue packed and kept thanking us for filling the seats and i nearly CRIED

they wanted to come up with a name for newark deobis and ultimately decided on new-b thanks to chanhee really pushing it (sorry kevin JerB sounded kinda funny hehe)

kevin also promised to come back as 11 next time !! he held an invisible hand to show that eric is still a part of tbz and with us as they all held hands to say goodbye

i became friends with the girl on my left and she was so sweet 🥹 i also got a ball signed and thrown by a member! pretty sure it’s kevin but someone pls confirm :’D

Uh wtf Wally’s mom is having major construction done?? Okay, I said it before, but 6 mill is NOT ACTUALLY A LOT OF MONEY in this context. He’s going to be penniless by issue 15 at this rate.

Ah Wally solving the garbage problem, Chunk’s public image problem, and the community not wanting heroes all in one fell swoop. He can really be clever when he wants to.

Pfffft and then they get mad at him about a whirlpool and Chunk disappearing. He’ll be back though. I’m sure it’ll allll be fine.

Tell this psychiatrist nobody gives a shit about his big game hunting :| And then he’s just like “uhh don’t worry about any of your problems.” Wally’s really genuinely trying to do the therapy thing too! He’s asking the right questions and looking for guidance working through them! Why is he always surrounded by asshats??

Final thoughts:

From the very first issue the running thread is Wally’s psychological hang ups. For a character whose gimmick is to run fast, and who is often portrayed as happy-go-lucky and quite goofy, he actually has a lot of turmoil in his life. It’s an amount of depth I truly didn’t expect going into this. And despite that, he just keeps moving forward bc that’s what he does. Meanwhile his mom and dad are clearly not supportive in any way. Even Tina seems like she’s kind of relying on him as a rebound. And then his therapist is just like “yeah, yeah your problems are whatevers, hey look at my new shoes.” Wally can’t catch a break.

And even though these things are obviously eating away at him, he’s still doing the super hero thing. He’s still helping people. He could’ve easily said “welp sorry Chunk, guess you’re getting arrested after all” once they came back, but he didn’t. He truly wanted to help him and set him up for a better life! I absolutely loved all the interactions these two had. I’ve said it many times, but I’m first and foremost a Justice League animated fan, so this is the kind of interaction that’s really “Wally West” to me.
